Bless the Lord, O My Soul
Of David.
103:1 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
3 who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5 who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
6 The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his acts to the people of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
10 He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
13 As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
14 For he knows our frame;
he remembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like grass;
he flourishes like a flower of the field;
16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more.
17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him,
and his righteousness to children’s children,
18 to those who keep his covenant
and remember to do his commandments.
19 The Lord has established his throne in the heavens,
and his kingdom rules over all.
20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his word,
obeying the voice of his word!
21 Bless the Lord, all his hosts,
his ministers, who do his will!
22 Bless the Lord, all his works,
in all places of his dominion.
Bless the Lord, O my soul! (ESV)

8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
this is my favorite Psalm!!! In fact, some True Northers memorized this whole Psalm 2 years ago–anyone up to the challenge now???
There is SO much rich theology here! I love the portrayal & promise of God’s anger
being a temporary & disciplinary thing for those who love & fear him, & how he gives us an OT view of the mercy & grace God showers on his people.
ELLO… I read
I like verse 2,”Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-”
I like this verse because it talks about not forgetting of all the benefits that GOD gives those who fear and who have repented and put their faith in HIM. First we don’t deserve but GOD rewards us for whatever good we did, second HE doesn’t judge us for all the sins we have committed. I deserve HELL but thanks to GOD HE saves us graciously and keeps me from HELL but asks that I live a life to serve HIM.
CYA
5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
God is the only one who satisfies and all that gives life! God is so good when I am so undeserving! God is so merciful and I need to have contentment in nothing other than Christ alone! He wants 100% focus and I am going to make sure I glorify him in all I do.
I believe its your favorite psalm Ryan because we memorized it a few years ago in small groups, how I miss those days :(…. But yes this is one of my favorites too!
1 Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
I love how the Psalm opens, it says I am to praise the holy name of God, but not just regular praise. It is supposed to be from everything within mee, from “all my inmost being.” This sounds like an incredibly hard thing to do, that is why the author is telling his soul to do it. It sounds kinda funny at first to be talking to his soul, but the more I think about it the more I see the psalmists desire to do as he says, he is so passionate that he is even commanding his very soul to worship God! now that is christianity. But what is his soul praising the Lord for?? Here is the list:
2 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-
3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
These are things that we should be praising God for, and this is barely scratching the surface! If we were to write out a list of things to praise God for, like every little thing… The list would never end, this is where our heart should be set. I know I take some things for granted, I need to change my mindset and command my soul to worship the Lord.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
This verse convicts me greatly. When I sin I never think about what I have done or that I am in defiance against an omnipotent God and that with that sin I did not fear God at the moment. It is the fear of God that holds us accountable and keeps us strong in our Christian walk. I need to try and keep my fear for Lord during all times for if I truly fear the Lord all the time, which is impossible, I would never sin.
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
We are saved praise the Lord. Our sins are so far from us. It says from the east to west complete opposites thousands of miles apart. Through his mercy we can live and breath even at this second. He does not owe us each breath of oxygen. He owes us nothing and yet He still blesses us everyday. I think I take this for granted. Lord help me to have a concious and grateful heart. I want to live my life fully for you all the time no matter my circumstances. Lord also help there to be a revival on our campasses and help us to fear you not men and preach your love and gospel to anyone who will listen and maybe even someone who wont.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Basically what David is saying here in these two verses is that God’s great love for those who fear Him never ends, and He has removed our sins away from us, farther than we could ever imagine. This is so amazing! God’s love for the people who fear Him continues on and on forever. And the sins of those who have repented have been moved by God as far away from the people as the east is far from the west. In example, if someone is tempted to eat a cookie he knows he shouldn’t, it would be better to move the cookie away than leave it right in front of his face to stare at for hours. And if he eats half the cookie, will he not feel convicted and then put the cookie far from him. But the distance he puts the cookie away from himself can’t even compare to how far God puts our sins away from us. We can’t even fathom the distance between the east and the west, for it never ends, and so is the distance God has removed my sins from me! I need to praise God for His everlasting love for those who fear Him and for saving me from my sins and placing them far from me, farther than can be imagined. I need to be filled with joy for God’s love for me and overwhelmed with joy at the work of God in saving me! Praise God that He has rescued me from my sins!
MATTHEW CRANE! Nice to see you on here! ;D I love this Psalm…it has so many points to it that you can hit up and use in your life. Like it says, we are nothing and I knooooow that He deserves all the praise! And, like Tanner said, I need to fear this mighty God who takes away the sin of the world. verse 11 really spoke out to me though…it caught my attention the most. “For as high as the heavens are above the Earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;”…THE HEAVENS MUST BE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HIGH! I can’t even imagine it! God loves the man that fears the Lord….who would reject His love? The one that takes away man’s sin, the one who rewards those who fear Him, the one that gives man life!!!! God has soooo many qualities to Him that I can praise Him for. :) annnnnnd I’m reminded of how every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord so now when ppl. reject the message when I talk to them, I can think about how they will one day confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and they will bow down on their faces praising Him. :)
Psalm 103:4 “who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,”
Sometimes its hard for me to understand that before I had Christ in my life I was “dead” in my sins. This verse clearly shows that my life was “from the pits”!! Each of us were dead before we repented and put our faith into Christ. I am so thankful towards Jesus for reedeming my life and crowning me with love and compassion!! I am now alive in Christ and I am no longer dead (:
SC SMALL GROUP!! WOOOO!!
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
These three verses i think are really awesome. God doesn’t treat us how we deserve when it comes to sin. Instead of killing everyone off instantly and sending every single human being to hell, He lets us live and gives us good lives and a chance to be saved! And then it describes His love, which is why He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve. He loves us as much as the height of heaven. Now that must be super far, because God loves His children a ton. And then the last verse is my favorite. “As far as the east is from the west,” that’s how far He’s removed my sin from me. The east is goes on forever in one direction, and west goes on forever in the other direction. They never touch. So that means that God has taken my sin impossibly far away from me, where it will never ever come near me again!
LH Small Groups last night was . . . AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beth Lauder & Jasmine Wonton . . . ARE SPECTACULAR LEADERS AND ROLE-MODELS. =) Thank you both ladies. ;)
Goodmorning . . .
I read . . .
Psalm 103 . . .
“8. The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
9. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10. he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.”
I was just actually praying about this. =) I was praying and thanking God that even though I continue to sin, He’s still there forgiving me and giving me Mercy. He still cuts me slack and keeps me on this earth. As verse 9 says though, He won’t always accuse. Yes, Jesus is a loving God, because He died on the cross for all of our sins. However, God isn’t a God who’s just always loving and la la la “I love you too.” NO! God is angry also. He does need to discipline us and show us the right way. Afterall, He is our Heavenly Father and we are his siful children. When I sin, I deserve appsolutely nothing. I shouldn’t even get ANYTHING. But because of God and his grace and mercy, He continues to love me, forgive me, and give me life.
JESUS, I THANK YOU FOR THAT. I THANK YOU THAT EVEN THOUGH I SOMETIMES SIN, YOU STILL FORGIVE ME AND GIVE ME MERCY. I know I need to strive for perfection and try to model my life after Yours, but I’m still not perfect. Meaning, I know that I sin sometimes, but when I do, you continue to love me and give me grace. I THANK YOU FOR THAT HEAVENLY FATHER. I LOVE YOU! =)

2 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.
This is a psalm full of praise for the Lord! One of the things we discussed at small group last night was how important it is to praise God for our salvation on a regular basis. As I read Psalm 103 it struck me how taking time daily to meditate on Scripture like this that points my mind heavenward and leads me to praise God for the amazing sacrifice He made for me so that I could be in a right relationship with Him. I am committed to not forget God’s benefits as verse 2 says. I love how this psalm specifically lists several of the benefits I have in Christ…my sins are forgiven, my diseases are healed, I have been saved from hell, I have been crowned with love and compassion, and my desires have been satisfied with good things. Now that is quite an amazing list! Thank You God for all of the benefits I have in You! Help me to continue to spend time in prayer daily praising and thanking You for all that You have done for me!
Wow! There are some great promises made to us in this Psalm! Praise God for the greatness of his goodness!
And yet, at the same time, I noticed that some of these promises have conditions. Three times it says “to those who fear him.” This really encouraged me to examine myself and see if I am fearing God. I want to hate evil. I want to fear God’s discipline in my life so that I will not sin. I want to receive the full manifestation of his goodness!
I am praising God for his promises of everlasting love this morning, and praying that I will fear him today so that I can know these promises are mine!

11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
I love this Psalm because it reminds me of how much the Lord loves His kids and how much grace and mercy He has given me. I know that I will never outsin His love or outrun it for that matter, no circumstance will ever make me in a place where I can’t receive it; and I am sure that all my sins (past, present, and future) have been forgiven because they were paid for with a immeasurable price…what a love what a cost, thank you Jesus for the cross!!
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
These two verses speak volumes about Gods love for us. Through Jesus Christ, we no longer have to pay the wages of sin. God has removed our transgressions from us and poured out is Great love upon us. I in turn need to share that love with others by showing them love and telling them of the good news of how they too can be saved. It is so comforting knowing how great God’s love is for us.
Stuart Townend captures this picture with these great lyrics from the first verse of “How Deep the Fathers Love”
“How deep the Father’s love for us, How vast beyond all measure. That He should give His only Son, To make a wretch His treasure”
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
His love is so big and is amazing, I wonder then how huge the Heavens will be. as far as the east is form the west he forgives us from our sins. He is an awesome, amazing, perfect God.
I love this Psalm, what a wonderful picture of God’s love for those who fear him and desire to obey him.
It was hard to pick just one verse
Verse 8 “The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
What a beautiful description of Gods love. This is the complete opposite of man. Man is selfish, full of pride, quick to anger, and our love is conditional based on what others can do for us. When I think of how amazing it is that Gods love has no bounds and that for all the wrong sinful things I have done the Lord remembers them no more (12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.) I am in awe, All I can do is Praise his holy name just as David did.
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
Wow this is amazing. We deserve the wrath of God and hell for eternity and yet, if you repent, your sin is completely forgiven. I am so thankful that God has not given me what I deserve. His mercy is beyond measure and his love is unfailing. The work of Christ on the cross and his resurrection is the only reason that I am saved from getting what I deserve. Thank Lord! I praise you name and lift you on high today for your unfailing unchanging love.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
<3 God is Love!! We need to remember that, I need to remember that. We are his children, his creation, how could he not love us? This passage reminds us of just that. There is nothing that can separate us from his love either (Romans 8:38-39).
And I want to praise God for sending his son to die on that cross for OUR sins, which are now washed away. This motivates me to live in obedience and stay far far away from sin. Because I love Jesus, I want to please him in all I do!
HELLO!!!!!!!!!!………………….
ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS TWO WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PRAISE GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS WAS A GREAT CHAPTER ON PRAISING GOD AND ALL HIS WONDERFUL PROMISES!!!!!!!!!!!!
MARANTATHA!!!!!!!!!
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
It still amazes me how loving our God truly is. First, he atones for our sins. He erases them from His memory. We don’t deserve that kind of mercy yet He gives it to us through repentance. Not only that, but He also makes us co-heirs with Christ! “Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” -Romans 8:17. He gives us freedom from Hell, and access to Heaven through the death of His son. He also allows us to share in his glory. THAT is true, sacrificial, love!
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
I am so thankful that God will not treat me as my sin deserves or according to my iniquities. I deserve to be separated from God forever. That is the just and right thing to happen to me. But I’m so thankful that God has provided a way out.
Last Sunday Pastor Mike talked about being thankful for the cross and how I need to be sober and think hard when I am thankful for the cross. It is because of the cross that I am not treated as my sins deserve. But the cross cost a lot. Jesus was whipped, cursed, beaten, and crucified. He was also separated from God and suffered hell on my behalf. I’m thankful for the cross…but this immediately leads me to grief over my sin that put Jesus on the cross.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Great comment Meisha. I love reading this Psalm. I am so thankful that God loves those who fear Him so much. I’m also so thankful that He has separated us from our sin (those of us who are saved by Christ). Thank you God for not giving me what I DO deserve–but instead for giving me grace that I DON’T deserve. Praise the Lord!
Ps 103:2-5 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Ahhhhh… Unbreakable promises to hope in! Peace with God, bought at a high price on the cross! Thank You LORD and come soon!
WOW. This is one amazing psalm! I couldn’t even decide which verses to talk about for a while there! I have to say, this has got to be my favorite Psalm out of all the one’s that we’ve read!
15 As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field;
16 the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.
17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children-
The LORD’s love and mercy are timeless, so why should I worry about things on this earth that will just fade away when I die? I need to collect my treasures up in my true home, not on earth! Even when my earthly body and possessions fade away, I’ll be with the LORD forever. I need to make sure I make serving Him my absolute focus!
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
This is basically summing up ho merciful and loving God is! It is so 100% true, and so incredibly awesome. I have nothing to deserve his amazing love and mercy, yet He gives it to me anyway. Because He has this unfailing love, I know that He is also just, and therefore has incredible wrath as well.. and because I fear His mightiness I know that His love for me is unending. Verse 12 is so great- He has moved my sins as far as the east is from the west, that means that no matter how much I screw up, the LORD will never stop with his unfailing forgiveness, mercy and love. It is so helpful to know that He will NEVER give up on me! I am so grateful that the LORD chose me to be on his team!
MARANATHA!!!!
17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children-
Awesome!! This Psalm was so uplifting, and really helps understand who God is! I loved this verse especially because it was a verse that was simple and convicting! If I fear Him, I learn to obey Him and respect Him. If I don’t I don’t really treat Him as someone to look up to, and live for. This topic of fearing God must be pretty important because I have heard this many times by reading it in the Bible, and the Bible is His word! So, in order for me to continue to live for Him, and respect Him I need to fear Him, and not treat Him or talk to Him as my friend, He is someone to respect, and seroiusly look up to.
4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
This verse really makes me just want to praise God for everthing he has done for me! Our lives down here before we were Christian were in the pit, we were going to Hell no questians asked. But no, God chose me to be in the Kingdom with him for eternity. And when i die, which i will, he is going to surround us with all good things and with love and compassion as it says. This makes me think about how in the world God can love us like that! That he could send His son for us, so we could be with him. Mt life is saved and that just makes me want to praise him with my life!
9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
How do people post while the rest of us are in school? Well, whatever. This verse is a preclude to Jesus. Imagine the hope it gave the israelites to hear this. GOD anger does not last forever. So he sent redemption. Possibly the only part of GOD that does not last forever, it is also the only part that we do not want to last forever. Yay!
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
Praise the Lord for His grace and mercy! So true, I think verse 3 and 4 would be good examples of how the Lord doesn’t treat our sins as they deserve. He forgives us and redeems us from hell and crowns us with compassion and love!
17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children-
Forever God’s love is on those who fear him! that is such an awesome promise, why not fear God! I need to put like a tatoo (metaphorically speaking) to fear God!
I was going to say I don’t have a question…but I actually do because I didn’t see it get answered so here it is again:
Why don’t we celebrate Jewish holidays like Yom Kippur? The Christian roots are from Judaism…
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
This whole Psalm was just magnificent in the way that it puts such emphasis on praising God!! This particular verse reminded me of Casting Crowns song East to West!! (love that song, you should listen to it if you have not already! ;D) God’s love and mercy are just neverending, and I think that is something I need to meditate on more often. I often take those characteristics for granted. It also encouraged me to meditate on Christ and the what he endured for that sin that seperates us. Mighty, awesome, wonderful is the holy cross! God deserves all praise!! :D
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
God is so amazing and gives us such mercy. The grace he gives us is unbelievable. He gives us eternal life. We are so worthless and he loves us so much. He has the greatest love that ever could be. If we were punished for every sin we do, we would be living in pain because we sin all the time! God is so merciful and we can thank him for that everyday :)
21 Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will.
22 Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, O my soul.
We praise God for all his works he is our heavenly host and we are slaves to him. We are called to do your will to talk to people in our schools that is why we are on this earth to evengilize to the world one person at a time. See all of you aliso dana to night at small group I pray for all the small group to have a revival and out at the schools.
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
I love how much God removes our sin! God completelytakes away our sin because He loves us so much. Thank you Jesus for dieing on the cross for me!
13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.
I love God!!!! He is amazing and sooooo good to us; He is perfect! I love how He has compasion on us, is patient with us, yet is completely fair (Ex. 34:6-7)! He realizes our weaknesses and has given us the Holy Spirit (Lk. 11:13) to overcome those weaknesses through obedience. The Holy Spirit also gives us understanding of Him and everyhting He wants us to know. He is truely our perfect Heavenly Father!
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
Thank God so much that he doesn’t give us what we deserve for our sins. We deserve eternal condemnation in hell. A common question on evangelism nights are when people ask hey why do all these bad things happen to good people? That’s not the right question because no one is good. The right question is Wow God what did I ever do to deserve your mercy and grace and forgiveness taking away all my sins and treating me like your own child allowing me to spend eternity with you! God’s grace never ceases to amaze me! I am so grateful for God rescuing me from myself and my sins. He doesn’t repay my sins with what I deserve but Jesus took them upon Himself. He didn’t give us the wages of sin –>death (Romans 6:23) but life. To live is Christ!
2 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-
God is so amazing and does so many things for me in my life!! In the times when i think about the negetives to being a christian, like being made fun of or not having as many friends at school, i need to think of the benefits and how good God is to me and how he has saved me from eternal hell!
3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
This verse means so much to me. The Lord is ultimatley the only One who truly forgives and forgets. I remember the sermon at a beach night last year(not this past summer) when we talked about forgiveness. It really hit me hard. I was convicted that night when i realized that i had some grudges on my shoulders that i had to get out and i really understood the true meaning of forgive and forget when i put it all behind me. The Lord forgives and He does forget…but that should definatley not be an excuse to continue sinning. Reading this verse shows me how i need to change what i do…i need to be more forgiving and more understanding!!!Like Christ was!!!
Maranatha!!!
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
This is such an excellent description of God! Especially this one, which talks about him being just, but also loving. We completely deserve punishment for every one of our wrong doings, but God, out of his love, forgave us and instead gives us eternal life. The Lord is so amazing and we should live every day demonstrating this through our obedience.
20 Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.
David is just fully living for God and this psalm definitely shows it; he even tells his own soul and inmost being to praise the LORD. David writes this knowing how great God is and he writes that since God is so holy, even the angels will praise His name (Praise the LORD, you his angels). If God deserves praises from the angels (which He definitely does) then we, who are sinners of this earth, should definitely be praising God for everything in our lives and for the salvation He offers us. Praise God!!
8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
God knows our hearts, our sin and our inmost thoughts, and yet he loves us anyway. So much so that He sent His Son to be a servant and to die, pouring out HIs wrath on Him instead of us! This is the Biblical display of love; and Christ has called us to love others as He loved us. And yet so often we get hung up over small things, running into conflict and allowing things to prevent us from loving others as we are supposed to. When we stop to consider Christ, however, who lived and died for people who completely rejected Him and were the cause of His sufferings, all of our trivial disputes and issues seem so foolish. I need to look to Jesus’ example to love others, by serving them and bringing them His Truth, even if they are people I would normally consider “unlovable.”
aahhh!! this psalm is so amazing! i couldn’t really decided which verses i should post on!
4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, 5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. 6 The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.—This chapter is so great, it describes Jesus so well! Even though I really do not deserve everything God gives me, He gives it to me anyway! He blesses me with so many things that I definitely do not deserve. I need top return to the LORD what He deserves which is all of my love and my life into Him.
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;—Like I was saying in my other comment, I deserve the way opposite of what God gives me and I need to give back to Him. I need to remember that God does the things He does because he loves me and I will never be able to understand or fathom His love! Like it says, I need to have the right fear of the Lord and know that He can do anything He wants with me, he controls me. It’s not my life, my life is in the LORD’s hands! I am putting God #1 in my life.
8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
love this verse! not only is God loving but he also gets mad but he is slow to anger and many people forget that and always say he only loves us all the time
We need to praise the LORDDD for so
much he does for us! and remember
what he did for us and saved us(:
WOW this is an awosme psalm!!! There are so many tight verses in here it is hard to focus on one!! But i like this one a whole lot!!
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
YES!! Praise be to God for this truth!! We all deserve to die in our sins and be punished eternally but God as it tells us here does not treat us as we deserve or repay us the way He should!! How awsome is that!!! MARANATHA!!! 116
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
Praise the Lord for this. I need to start thanking God for the way He DOESN’T treat me. I mean, we all deserve ou punisment for sins, so we need to remember that every good thing is an undeserved gift from God.
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
This is a pretty cool verse because it shows us that God will always forgive us of our sins, and He will not hold our transgressions against us.
8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
This is a really great reminder to us how to be slow to anger and abounding in love just like our Lord is. God will not accuse us and have His anger stay with Him forever. He does not hold it against us. We must turn away from sins and never go back 180.
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
This is amazing! Verse 10 really stood out to me especially; the penalty for our sins is ultimately death and hell. But God loves us so much that he paid the price for all of this. He loves us, it says as high as the heaves are above that earth! Not only that but he completely removed all of our old sins so that we are made new in Him. I need to remember this and how absolutely amazing God is daily!!
3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
This verse is very important. It lets us know that no matter what we do, we will always be forgiven. All of the things that we regret today will be washed away because of christ dieing on the cross for us. Praise The Lord.
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
These verses are awesome! They remind me of the amazingness of God. He has so much love and mercy for us. I like how verse 10 points out that he does not treat us as we deserve, that really reminds me to check my pride and make sure that I am not giving myself any credit, and that he recieves it all. We in no way deserve his mercy, yet he still spares us. I need to keep reminding myself of this and praising God for this
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
If you really think about this verse it is hard to comprehend just how great God’s love is for us! As high as the heavens are above the earth, that a pretty fair distance. After reading this verse, I feel a sense of peace that a God who is so big, can love a person so small and have mercy on them. God is awesome and his ways never change!! He shows mercy to those who trust him! That is all the encouragment I need to give my life and follow Christ!!!!!!! I’m stoked for Heaven!!
MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
This is so amazing!!! God does so much for us when in truth we deserve the ultimate opposite,HELL! This is what non-believers need to see that we should be so thankful for what the LORD has given to us. Living our life for him is the LEAST we can do, we should all be siked to do what he tells us. I need to always keep this in mind and remember the gift he has given us, eternal life with him!
Psalm 103… one of my favorite chapters in the Bible! Such an awesome Psalm.
8 “The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.”
. . .
10 “he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.”
This is so true, because He certainly does not treat us as we deserve to be treated! We deserve His wrath and justice, but instead He has mercy on us. God is truly indescribable, and even though I am so unworthy, He has grace, and He definitely deserves not only praise in song, but a whole life of worship. Praise the Lord!
11 “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
How awesome and relieving it is to know that in Christ our sins are completely removed from us. We are wiped 100% clean by the work that Jesus has already done. Sin is gone, removed, washed away, obliterated. I should be praising and thanking the Lord for this every day! Thank you Jesus for erasing my sin by the redemptive work that you have done.
What an AWESOME chapter!!
4.) who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
Wow…this (like many other verses in this chapter) is so amazing to me, that God would choose to love sinners like us, and take the punishment for our sin so that we could be with Him forever instead of getting what we obviously deserve…PRAISE GOD!!!
wow praise be to God. I just fell in love with this chapter because, WOW God isw so powerful, he made us from nothing, he controls everything in this dominion that we know and dont know. This chapter brings me back to the basics. God is magnificent, and he created us and this earth with the sound of his voice. Can you believe that. It is a very simple consep, but when you look and how every living thing is made up of just the right amount OF Nitrogen, Oxygen, Hydrogen, and Carbon in every living thing, and how he put every stand of DNA in every fish in the sea, and he knows all of us by name. If my God can do that than………… “Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.
21 Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will.
22 Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, O my soul.
1 Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits-
These verses were great to wake up to this morning; it was so good just to take time to through all his benefits like David does in this Psalm…how he takes care of us physically…how he “crowns us with love”…and most importantly how he forgives our sin!
BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL!
17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children-
18 with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.
This chapter talks about both God’s anger and God’s blessings. I love it, because we don’t serve two gods. We don’t have a God of anger in the OT, and a God of love in the NT. God is the same, all the time, both justice and mercy. How incredible and just plain mind-boggling! Our God is so amazing!! Praise the Lord, oh my soul, praise the Lord! MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion
this verse remiinds me about one of bobbys sermons from a while ago about a sesspool of wickedness. this verse reminded me of that when it says pit and how He redeems our life from that pit and gives us love and compassion. if anyone gets mad at someone i would tend to think that the last thing on their mind is giving them love and compassion. we continually turn from God and disrespect Him and i want to focus on taking extra time to think about wether what i am about to do is going to be against what God would want. i want to stay out of that sesspool of wickedness
Overall, this is a straight forward and awesome psalm! 1 Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
I praise God, although sometimes i do not praise Him with all my inmost being or as much as i could! As this verse states, ALL my inmost being should be praising his holy name!
In these verses, it says that the Lord is slow to anger and he is patient with us, who sin against Him every single day. Most of the time, i have no patience with my siblings or my parents about the littlest things. From now on, i will try to have patience and every time i get angry i will think of the Lord and how amazing and slow to anger he is with me. It also says that God has compassion and love for those who fear Him. These verses are truly amazing and such a good reference just to remind us of how wonderful our Lord truly is and how important it is to be praising Him all the time and with all our inmost being!
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
God has given me mercy by not punishing me for my sins. I deserve hell and to be eternally separated from God, however by grace he has forgiven my sins and does not treat me as my sins deserve. Christ bore the wrath that I deserved from my sins! Praise the Lord for this amazing gift of mercy!
4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Wow such a big TRUTH. I don’t know how many times i have felt like i was in a pit, trapped, with no way out and God has helped me out. With his Mercy and Grace I have made it out with only a few scratches. I thank the Lord for being so amazing and being my aid in times of trouble.
17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children-
18 with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precept
Wow, this psalm is awesome! I’m just so encouraged being reminded of these specific benefits of the Lord. Reading this chapter reminded me of one of the summer small groups where Bobby talked about God’s mercy to us. I do not deserve one good thing from God, in fact his judgment, and yet he satisfies those who fear him, he is so good to those who keep his commands. Praise the Lord!
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
When I read the psalms it’s easy to say that David is just using a metaphor to say that God loves us a lot. But when I say that to myself, I’m not really even thinking how much God actually loves us. From the heavens to the earth and from the east to the west is super long; actually east and west are infinitely apart and if heavens is referring to heaven itself then there is no way of even measuring it’s distance to earth because it’s outside of our universe. When I take time like in verse three and remind myself of just some of the things God has done for me, I really start to get astounded at God’s so incredible love. I need to be daily reminding myself of what God has done and how great His love is so that I would truly rejoice in Him and praise Him for the awesome God He is.
Verse 10. We deserve all God’s wrath but because of Jesus Christ we don’t have to. Itamazes me how God can give us life, but then were all sinful. and because He has mercy on us, God sends Jesus Christ to pay for our sins on the cross, and we can repent and put our faith in Him, and sometimes we can trip once in a while and were still not obviously perfect and He still doesn’t give us what we deserve. But instead we can look forward to eternity spent with Him. God is so amazing!
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
Wow this entire psalm is incredible. This verse really stuck out to me. If we really think about it, since we are all sinners, we all deserve to go to hell but God sent his son to die on the cross and be risen from the dead to save us from our sins and have eternal life with God, praising him!!![(gospel :)]. God is sooo merciful with us, he has saved us from what we really deserve, eternal damnation. I just praise the Lord and thank him for sending his son to save us and give us the free gift of eternal life. Praise God!!!!!
10 He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.
wow…what a verse of mercy! This verse caught my attention at 11 at night…God has shown mercy to me…”and I give thanks”… I deserve so much worse than the worst thing that has ever happened to me… God is amazing, instead of giving me what I deserve shows his mercy…and not just that He has shown his grace! He has given me much more than I deserve! and future grace to look forward to! so anywho…Ima be praising God for this!
1 Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Wow what an amazing chapter. God is so good and deserves so much praise! This is a great chapter to pray through. It reminds me of how amazingly above this world God is. He is the sustainer, slow to anger, and full of love. I need to pour out my soul and give Him all my praise all the time because He deserves it so much!
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
I am so glad that God does not give us what we deserve! Sort of an ironic statement, but in truth I deserve wrath for the sins I have committed against him. But I know I will not receive punishment, instead I am confident in the mercy and grace of God. That (2) things: I have been rescued from the fire, and I have been prepared a place in heaven. I don’t deserve either, but since God has such has an inexhaustable supply of grace it will take all eternity for him to lavish it upon his sons and daughters. God is great beyond comparison! His grace is more than enough…it will last for all eternity, and I set my eyes on it. Praise the LORD!
