The Lord Our God Is Holy
99:1 The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble!
He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!
2 The Lord is great in Zion;
he is exalted over all the peoples.
3 Let them praise your great and awesome name!
Holy is he!
4 The King in his might loves justice.
You have established equity;
you have executed justice
and righteousness in Jacob.
5 Exalt the Lord our God;
worship at his footstool!
Holy is he!
6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests,
Samuel also was among those who called upon his name.
They called to the Lord, and he answered them.
7 In the pillar of the cloud he spoke to them;
they kept his testimonies
and the statute that he gave them.
8 O Lord our God, you answered them;
you were a forgiving God to them,
but an avenger of their wrongdoings.
9 Exalt the Lord our God,
and worship at his holy mountain;
for the Lord our God is holy!
His Steadfast Love Endures Forever
A Psalm for giving thanks.
100:1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
2 Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
3 Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
5 For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations. (ESV)

Psalm 100:4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
God is so holy. He deserves all the praise and glory! There is so much to be thankful for, and I know I need to evaluate myself at times to really comprehend all that the Lord has done and what he can do! God is so powerful and it is so incredible to think about. My mindset throughout the day today is to be thankful and obedient under all circumstances and to give God my 100% best! Praise God for everything!
2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
This is definately something that I struggle with!! When it is worship time, I sometimes just sing the words without really knowing what the words mean, so thats when it feels like I am just singing a song!! But when I see the words and know what the truly mean and how they apply to my life, I get more into it and am excited and glad to worship the LORD like this verse says!!!!!
MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
What great way to start my day…reading psalms that remind me to love, honor and worship the Lord. I’m so thankful for our God, who is incredibly loving and just and who is guarding me each and every day. I just pray that I will give God the praise and glory that He deserves and to have the utmost excitement about the gift of Heaven.
i like all of ch 99. it is just constantly saying God is holy and how awesome He is over and over again. this is so true and i want to have that joy for Him show in every aspect of my life so that i may show non believers the love that Christ has shown me
Psalm 99 opens by talking about trembling and shaking.
Psalm 100 opens by talking about shouting for joy.
Psalm 99 emphasizes God’s holiness.
Psalm 100 emphasizes God’s goodness.
It’s good to see all these truths put so close together. Fearing the Lord and rejoicing in him are not opposite feelings. Instead, they are emotions that go hand in hand as we respond to a holy and good God.
Even as I worship today, I want to be thinking about all these truths. I want to remember how holy God is while also remembering how this same God is the one who saved me and provides for me everyday.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
I do this everyday and it helps me
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
We have to always like if we are eating dinner, going to church, or doing something we Have to praise Gods name!!! I have been doing what this verse says. WE Have to always give God our 100% every Single DAY!
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
this is very good verse
8 O LORD our God, you answered them; you were to Israel a forgiving God, though you punished their misdeeds.
The psalmist writes that God answered Moses and Aaron, and Samuel when they called for him. Like with Moses and Aaron leading the Israelites across the desert, they called on the LORD and He answered them. He then says that God was to the nation of Israel a forgiving God. He still punished their misdeeds, yet He was forgiving. As the LORD is just, He cannot let sin go unpunished; There needs to be a punishment and consequence paid for the actions of sin one has done. Yet God still forgives. To those that see their sin and repent of it, God will still punish them, yet He will forgive them. Every time I stumble in sin, I need to not mope around with regrets of what I have done, but instead I need to see my sin and repent of it and get back to striving for holiness. And I know when I repent I will be forgiven by God. And this forgiveness is not something that I deserve, but instead it is only by God’s grace. I need to take the forgiveness I receive from God and, in turn, I need to show the same forgiveness to others. Instead of being forgiven by God then being unforgiving to others, I need to forgive others just as I have been forgiven by God!
The theme of Psalm 99 is the call to worship God because he is holy. “Holy” means perfect, flawless, completely set apart from sin. God is the only one like this! It’s awesome how the Psalmist points out that a holy God had a caring and forgiving relationship with Moses, Aaron and Samuel. That is such an encouragement to me because that same God has forgiven me and cares for me. Only a God who was totally perfect, not like us who are lost in sin, could care for and redeem us. I definitely want to worship him today for he is holy!
2 Great is the LORD in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations.
3 Let them praise your great and awesome name— he is holy.
Just saying something in relation with the sermon this week. Heaven will be great and we should look forward to it. But it will not be just sitting in the clouds strumming harps and all of that stuff. No GOD didn’t scrap us and start over when we first made the mistake in the Garden of Eden, so he will not completely scrap the earth either. As he transformed us radically, so he will to the earth. But we will be able to play games, hang out, and do awesome things that we can’t do here. It will be truly awesome.
3.) Let them praise your great and awesome name— he is holy.
Mmm, even though this was written long ago, it is DEFINITELY still applicable to our daily lives now. As Christian we are called to live a lifestyle of worship, not just sing songs; I know that I for one need to work on this…so let’s be praising and worshipping God daily!
Psalm 99
This is such a great chapter!!! It keeps on repeating that God is Holy and how just He is. This is all so true and it’s what makes this chapter awesome. God is so holy and every time in the chapter when it says ‘he is holy’ before that in the verse, it talks about praising His name. I always want to be thinking of this and remembering that we are singing to Him and worshipping Him for His glory and holiness.
Psalm 100
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
The key part of this verse that stuck out to me was “we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.” God created us and that should make us want to praise and glorify Him with all our life and our hearts.
These are two great chapters, both talking about praising God because he is holy!!! So let’s praise Him with all of our lives and make Him and his holiness known across all nations.
Psalm 100:3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
This psalm is a wonderful call to praise God. Verse 3 stood out to me because it focusses on one of Compass Bible Church’s distinctives…We have a high view of God. Acknowledging that God is the one true God who has created us and that we are subject to Him in every way is crucial for Christians. If we acknowledge that God created us, then He has ownership over us and gets to make the rules by which we live. The shepherd/sheep analogy is a good one, too. Sheep are some of the dumbest animals on the planet. They are incapable of making good decisions and are wrought with fear. If left to their own devices they will drink dirty water that will infest them with parasites and lead to their death and they will leave the safety of their group and get eaten by wolves. Without a shepherd sheep are doomed! God is our shepherd who lovingly laid down His life for us to take care of us and help us not be overcome by our sinful natures that lead to certain death. GOd is mighty, powerful and worthy of all our praise!
ELLO… I read
I like verse 5,”For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
I like this verse because it tells of GOD’s love enduring forever. HIS love never fails but HE will punish disobedience. HE is love and HE will always love HIS people.
CYA
In Psalm 99 it talks about how holy and awesome God is. His ways are perfect! God has a love for goodness and justice and hates what is evil. God is truly perfect in all ways and I want to praise him!
In Psalm 100 (an awesome chapter!) it talks about worshiping God. “Shout” to God, and give Him praises because he made us and we are the sheep of his pasture. Come to His courts in thanksgiving because God is so gracious. I want to daily give God the recognition for every good thing in my life!
See everyone @ True North!
8 O LORD our God, you answered them; you were to Israel a forgiving God, though you punished their misdeeds.
God is forgiving to us, just as He forgives Israel to repent. the Lord punished Israel when they did wrong, but He always welcomed them when they repented and turned to Him. it is the same with us. once we are God’s children, and have repented of our sin and placed our faith in Christ, He chastens us for our sin to correct us (Hebrews 12:6), for He loves us. but while we may feel away from God when we sin and turn away from Him, He always will welcome us if we turn to Him. i am so thankful that God will always welcome me if i turn to Him!
5 Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.
These Psalms are awesome calls for us to worship God for who he is. He is our Creator and he is Holy. We have a lot to praise him for. Can’t wait to worship this morning and to keep this perspective throughout the week.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
in this verse it talks about how we need to praise the Lord, it is easy to think that when something good happens that we are the cause of it, but it is God who does everything so we need to praise him for it
2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Even in times of despair, when we worship God we should be thankful and joyful that we have him to turn to. He is the rock and my salvation. He watches over all his sheep and both disciplines them and comforts them. No one else is higher than God and he deserves all our praise.
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Being one of Go’s people is so awesome because instead of being enemies with God we can now have a relationship with Him and one day be with Him forever. And the cool thing is that we can never be taken out of this relationship because we belong to God and nothing can snatch us out of God’s hand. I need to praise God for bringing me to Him even though I did nothing to deserve it and I also need to realize that now that I belong to Him my life needs to look totally different than the world.
5 Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.
Psalm 99 has a huge emphasis on God’s holiness, a trait that people tend to ignore. to say that God is holy is more than to say that He is perfect; it is to say that He is completely separate from all sin, and cannot be in the presence of even a hint of it. God hates sin; it is His holiness that necessitates Hell, for He cannot let sin go unpunished. Yet He sent His Son into the world, who lived a holy life and was without any sin at all, and yet was killed and bore the wrath of the Father for our sins. Reading, singing, or talking about God’s holiness should serve as a reminder to me of the seriousness of my sin and fill me with gratitude for Christ’s sacrifice for me on the cross.
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture
I love this verse because this shows that we are not our own. We didn’t create our selves nor did we create anything that was’nt already here, God is the creator of all things! But this made me think of a question that I am unsure to answer.
Bobby, is the church the new israel?? There has been alot of debate here, i haven’t been apart of it, but i hear about it and i just wanted to know what you think using scripture?
8 “O LORD our God, you answered them; you were to Israel a forgiving God, though you punish their misdeeds.”
When God punishes me, I need to know its for my own benefit and I know that it is out of love. God will forgive my sins, but thee will be a consequence. Sin deserves punishment because God is Just, He can’t let sin pass by. When I stumble in sin I can’t focus on the consequence I’m going, that does nothing, I need to focus on how to fix that problem. Consequences are out of love.
!!!MARANATHA!!!
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture
What a great verse. I t reminds me when past or Bobby was talking about evolution. which is crazy to think that we actually evolved from monkeys. This is something that when it comes up in one of my classes i am going to say it only a theroy and hasnt been proven yet. Also that God has created us and this wonderful world we live in. For that we shall praise him in the highest.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
This is a good verse because God commands us to worship. Worship is very special to God, and one day when i am in heaven, Worshiping God at his feet will be amazing
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations
I love these pslams! God is so good, loving, and faithful! That’s so amazing to think about. He loves endures forever. Wow! He loves me the same as much and it never changes. I never did anything to deserve this but He loved us enough to send His son to die for us and take up our sins. Praying for a revival and opportunities to tell people the gospel as much as I can! I can’t wait to spend eternity with Him!
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
The LORD is where true happiness is found. Whenever I sin against my creator, I feel so dumb and disgusted at myself. Even though my sin has been forgiven, I have no right to sin; I am free from those bonds. However when I follow the LORD, everything feels so right in the world. Although I am persecuted, I am not abandoned by God, He is my protector.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
When we were still sinners God saved us. He chose to save us (who are Christians) and love us, not because of what we have done but because of His mercy.
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Beautiful
So simple but also so deep!! “Know that the LORD is God, it is He who made us and we are His”– we worship the one TRUE God, and while everybody else is worshipping all other kinds of things, we can KNOW that we have the TRUTH. And that means we have hope, not the cross-your-fingers-and-wish-for-the-best kind of hope but the I can’t wait and am so excited for this to happen kind of hope!! Its so wonderful and awesome and the evidence is everywhere. This life, no matter how hard it is, will be soooooo worth it.
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD for He is good. I love so many songs that worship God and throughout the day you could catch me singing a tune. I love singing the LORD and worshiping His name. He has given me so much and as wise Job said: “The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” in Job 1:21b. (hint: verse David said in service today ;]) The Lord’s name should be praised. He has given me all the things I need: water, food, and the gift of salvation. I would be sad to see my family be taken away but I need to stay strong and keep standing. Because God is holy and calls me to be holy. (1 Peter 1:15-16) I thank God for all that He has given me. He has I plan and I am glad that I am apart of it! :]
***PRAISE HIS NAME!!!***
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
This is what it should be like when we are worshiping the Lord. We don’t need to get ditracted but be joyful and praise the Lord for all that He has done for us, and just be glad on glorify Him.
The message today was good and Bobby is right there is two sides the world’s side were you diside what we do and we live for our selves. We should not be living for our selves we should be living for God. The other side is God’s where we do everything for Him and he chose us to be on His side we did not diside. I pray we work for God at our schools. We what for God’s return. Maranatha!!!!!!!!
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
As a Christian I can trust that I am in Gods hands and I am His. Nothing can seperate us, no trial in our life, no temptaion, and he will never forsake us during those times. He has our back, like Pastor Bobbys sermon this morning. We are chained to Him and nothing will seperate that chain. For me that is really, really comforting to know that no matter how bad times are going to be, when I pray and trust in Him He will get me through it. Times are going to be hard weather its in my spiritual groath or somthing to do with my family. Its not going to be easy. For me, I have nothing to fear about hard times, becuase I know that God will be there. Though i know its not going to be a walk in the park, its going to be hard. I just need to keep on praying that when those times come along I will trust in our Lord above.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
Verse 4 stood out to me today because no matter what is going on, I can always praise God! I can be having a really hard day, but when I spend time in the word and pray, I get so much joy and peace, and I know that it’s from the Lord. These earthly things don’t even matter! I want my focus on Heaven at all times! Maranatha!!!
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
I love this chapter! It is so encouraging! We have reason to be happy ALL THE TIME. The Lord with be loving and faithful to us forever because we are his children. Heaven is waiting for us. Let’s be thankful to the Lord and be joyful and worship.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
It is amazing how much God loves us. That he would die for us while we were still sinners is incredible.
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
The first basic part of the gospel is that God is our Creator, and it doesnt take much thought to assume that the Creator always rules over his creation. This priniple isnt applied much in this generation. People dont want to live for their Creator or have to obey and answer to someone. But it is this very thought that repentance comes in. To stop living for yourself and start living for God. To answer to my Creator and not do what my flesh wants to do in this world. This week I am going to make sure that my view of god as my Creator is right and that he is put at the highest level possible. This will help me to answer to him with trembling but worshipful hands.
Psalms 100 is my favorite Pslam!!!!
It talks about how I need to SHOUT to God for He has made everything, I shout with praise and thanksgiving. I always need to worship with the right attitude and motive in heart and I need to know the the LORD is God, of course He. He made us, ” we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.”(verse 3) He loves us, and me so much that He is our shepherd and our King. WE ARE HIS!!! I will go to Heaven with thanksgiving and praise, I will rejoice that I will be in Heaven and that I am with Him. He endures forever with all generations. thats awesome.
8 O LORD our God, you answered them; you were to Israel a forgiving God, though you punished their misdeeds.
God punishes us if we do wrong then we feel guilty and turns towards Him and ask for Forgiveness like Israel did.
It’s awesome to cap off my day of worship with these two psalms of thanksgiving and praise. They are great portraits of God’s power and perfection. I love Psalm 99′s opening images of God reigning supreme above everything:
1 The LORD reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake. 2 Great is the LORD in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations.
That’s the image I want to think of whenever I think about God because it reveals His glory but also reminds me of His fearful and incredible might. It’s an incredible feeling to know that this is my God who has saved me through the gift of His son and that someday I’ll get to be with Him and worship Him face to face. Today’s sermon really made me think about how truly amazing it’s going to be to be able to tell God in person how much I love Him. Maranatha!
3 Let them praise your great and awesome name— he is holy.
This verse makes me think of Bobby’s sermon today. I love how it makes me think about going to heaven and wanting that the most.
1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
I don’t think I have done that enough today!! I haven’t been feeling my best lately…but that doesn’t give me an excuse not to praise God with gladness!! My health could be a lot worse, and I think I’m just not focusing enough on the what lies ahead, and what God has done for me so far!! I choose to praise the Lord with gladness!!
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
As much as we hear this verse & this metaphor, I can never get enough of it, especially considering all the things a shepherd does for his sheep: protects, nurtures, leads, doctors, waters, feeds, & the list goes on. God does these very things for us all the time, & we barely acknowledge it! I also the very blunt, matter of fact style that the psalmist says “we are HIS.” God OWNS us! The fact that he gives us any choices at all & extends such mercy & grace to us shows what a great, compassionate shepherd he is!
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
I picked the same verse…I love how this says that we are His. That means all people because we are all made by God. He’s our maker and so he owns us–we are not the bosses of our lives. I love the imagery of the potter and the clay. If I create a piece of art I always feel that I have the authority to destroy it or change it, or do whatever I want with it. God has that same authority with me and all of the people he makes.
Psalm 100:3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
I am SO glad that I am on God’s team. Im just thinking back to middle school (haha its been about 3 months since then) and thinking about where I might be if I wasnt on God’s team! That is something that is really scary to think about! Praise God for saving me, and for everything he has done in my life since he has saved me! I am proud to say that I am HIS! and NOBODY can snatch me out of his hand!!
Psalm 99
5 Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.
Psalm 100
2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
When I read these chapters, I thought these two verses went well together. I love worship. Singing my praises to God brings joy to my heart. My days just seem to go better when I spend that time focused on the Lord. Verse 5 tells plainly why we should be worshiping…because God is holy. So continue to worship Him until the day he returns!!!
2 Great is the LORD in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations.
YES God is soooo good. not only is He holy, but His glory shines all around him. I need to continue to pray MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!! the sooner he comes, the better off everyone will be. I pray he reveals himself soon, so that all may bow down and cry out to him. I pray that we can be lit on fire in the meantime and boldly proclaim his name among the Orange County schools, social gatherings, and places. I want to dominate Orange County with the message about Jesus Christ! The only way it will happen is if I pray for 1. open doors, and 2. REVIVAL to this Godless world. JOIN ME FRIENDS AND CONTINUE TO PRAY REVIVAL TO ORANGE COUNTY!!!!!!!
HOW AWESOME IS THE LORD MOST HIIIIGH! That is the song that these Psalms reminded me of…and ever since this morning, I haven’t stopped thinking of Heaven and what’ll be like! I loved today’s sermon and I praise God that He spoke through Pastor Bobby about it! I saw three worship songs just in these two Psalms…wow. I want to be someone who praises Him twenty four seven!!!!!!! I never want to stop. God I pray that I never stop praising your name for all that you do for me, and will do in the days to come. I can’t wait to see your kingdom! MARANATHA!!!!
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
This is a great verse. I love it because it is so simple, yet it reminds me of so many important facts. It reminds me first of God’s soveirenty and superiority. He is our creater. It reminds me to fear him. It also reminds me that becuase he is or creator, he has the right to tell us what to do, and we owe it to him to obey him. It is our job to obey him, and it reminds me of the importance of this job.
ALL TRUE NORTH GOERS:
PLEASE PRAY FOR REVIVAL AT SVCS. WE ARE EXPERIENCING TREMENDOUS GROWTH!!! PRAY WHATEVER COMES OUT OF OUR MOUTH GIVES GOD GLORY AND THAT WE CAN BE BOLD.
THANKS
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
I have talked to so many people who say that they believe God has abandoned us…..this verse (among many others) makes it clear that that will never happen! God is Holy and He does not lie. I rejoice in the facts of what He has done for us….He will never fail us….and we don’t deserve any of His love! God is so merciful that my human brain can barely comprehend it! It is my prayer that I will cling to this and never stop standing for Him.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generation.
I was just praying my with my wife and thanking God for all the good things he has given to us. Every good and perfect gift comes from above. So it always good to give thanks to our Lord who is the very definition and creator of good. Most of all Alicia and I are thankful for our salvation and the fact that Jesus took our punishment. God is indeed good and I can go to bed with confidence that I will spend eternity in heaven not hell!! Praise the Lord!!
1 The LORD reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake.
Wow, this is such a great verse to show God’s power and majesty! I am just kind of put in awe when I read this verse.. entire nations trembling in the presence of the LORD- thats so amazing!
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
God’s love and faithfulness endure forever- this is such an incredible thing! Because of this I can know that because I am on his team I can never be taken off or separated from him. I am so glad that I get to be 100% confident that I will be in heaven with him one day rejoicing! That is the most exciting thing I can possibly think about.. everything I am looking forward to on earth just pales in comparison to that! To be in the presence of the LORD of the universe for eternity is all I could ever ask for!
MARANATHA!! I CAN’T WAIT TO GO TO HEAVEN AND BE WITH HIM FOR EVER!!!!!!!!
2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
This verse stood out too me. It says worship the Lord with gladness and come before Him with joyful and radiant songs in glorifying Him. LIke in Bobby’s message today, just think of how amazing it will be in Heaven when thousands of people are worshipping God in unification. How indescribable that will be! It wont even compare to the worship we do every weekend at true north. Bobby’s message was amazing today and really makes you think! God is an amazing, pure God and we should look forward and anticipate our reservation in Heaven!
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
These two chapters are an awesome reminder of various attributes of God and reasons to worship Him! Thinking about God’s everlasting love is a huge encouragement. I can continue to be certain of my eternal future because God’s love and faithfulness is eternal. God can never choose to take back his love because of my unfaithfulness. Praise the Lord that I can have a confident hope in my eternal future because of his unfailing love!
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
this verse stands out to me because it really makes me feel like there is someone watching over me and keeping me safe. To think of actually being in his presence in heaven is awesome, being perfectly happy and not wanting to do anything but worship him in heaven seems unimaginable!
I really really like these two Psalms!
8 O LORD our God, you answered them; you were to Israel a forgiving God, though you punished their misdeeds.
I am sooo thankful for having a forgiving God because there is no way i would be going to heaven if i didnt! I am so undeserving of his forgiveness but so glad for it, but i also know that when i sin, just like Isreal, im going to get punished for it. That should be a major motivation for me not to sin.
“Let them praise your great and awesome name— he is holy.”
Tomorrow as we wake up, I’m hoping that we are preparing our selves to be bold in Babylon. God is set apart, and we should strive to be completely set apart from the worldly people and desires at our high schools tomorrow, and all the days following! I’m praying for Revival to happen at our high schools, whether thru us our thru other Christians.
Soon and very soon my King is coming! (Rev. 22:12-13)
3 Let them praise your great and awesome name— he is holy.
5 Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.
9 Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the LORD our God is holy.
I am noticing a key work in this verses. HOLY!!!!! Pastor Bobby mentioned today that another way of saying Holy is perfect. I get so many questions from my friends that aren’t christians and they always ask me why did God do this and why did God do that. They don’t understand why God doe’s certain things. Well maybe I should go back to them and say that God is HOLY!!!! He is PERFECT!!!! God knows what he is doing. Jeremiah 29:11 is a great verse for that. God is so holy, righteous, loving, compassionate, merciful, graceful, I could go on, but it would fill up half this website. Everyone should be praising God and his holiness every day!!!! This chapter talks so much about giving thanks and praising his name!!!! Maybe it is telling us something important here because they keep repeating it!!!! God wants you to be thankful for all the things he has done for you whether you realize it or not!!! Im gonna go right now and pray to God for 10 minutes thanking him for all the work he has done in my life and for all the wonderful blessings he has provided me with. MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
i will talk about psalms 100(:
look at how this psalmist starts off this psalms: Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
This psalmist clearly wants everyone to be joyful, because he wrote, “shout for joy.”
Now whats so great about having joy?
Almost everything gets better. You can represent Jesus through your actions better when you are joyful, than if you are bitter. But you are also shouting for joy, so that you can worship God with gladness. When you have joy, you can easily praise God for who he is, and sing songs of praise to him. When bad days come around, it is hard to have that same praise in heart that we have in times of good. That is why it is so important for us to shout to God for joy because that is what will motivate us to come before the LORD in gladness as it says in verse 2.
Which brings us to point number one: Shout for Joy!
Now the second part of the second verse says: come before him with joyful songs.
It is absolutely amazing to praise God through songs of worship and joyful songs that he deserves. Should that be only 15 minutes a day where we sing to him in church? No, absolutely not! We should live our lives itself as a joyful song, pleasing to God and praising God. We walk our Christian lives as a worship song, glorifying and praising God.
This brings us to point number two: Live our lives like a joyful song.
Now look at verses 3 and 4.
The beginning of verse 3 says: Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his.
The Lord made us, so we should live our lives to please Him! Look how verse four tells us what would glorify the Lord. He says that we should, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.”
Wow! There shouldn’t be one second of our lives where we are not thankful for what God has done for us. He sent his only son to die for us so that we might spend eternity in paradise with God someday! Amazing! We have to show that we are thankful through glorifying Him with praise constantly! And why should we praise Him? Well verse 5 answers it right on: For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues throughout all generations.”
Which brings us to point number three: Always be thankful and praise God!
To recap:
-Shout for joy
-Live our lives as a joyful song
-Always be thankful and praise God
(:
Very encouraging to read these comments as they come in tonight!
Like many of you have pointed out these two chapters present some great realities about God:
Psalm 99 emphasizes his greatness and Psalm 100 his goodness
Imagine how awesome it will be when we can not only know these things about God but see them as his glory is lighting up our home in the New Jerusalem!
Hoping for heaven with you!
this is such an amazing chapter!!!
9 Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his holy mountain, for the LORD our God is holy.—I love this chapter altogether is so amazing! God is so perfect and holy and I need to put Him in front of everything! I have to make Him my number one idol because I would much rather want to be like someone who lives a perfect life! God is so amazing and right now I am just thinking about everything He blesses me with everyday! I have definitely been worshipping Him more and putting my whole heart into it! I cannot wait for the day I enter heaven and I arrive knowing I have a reservation and my name is on the list! I cannot wait for the day where I will be worshipping with everyone! Praising God all the time! That is amazing! Soo excitedd!!! Thank you LORD so much for dying on the cross for me and giving me so many blessings! I cannot wait to be with you!!
MARANATHA!!!
Amazing sermon this weekend Pastor Bobby! Shane Appreciation Day! hahaha
3 Let them praise your great and awesome name— he is holy.
God is great and awesome and holy! I love how it says those three things about God all in one verse! God is so great and He deserves all my praise! Praise Him for His holiness and just how awesome He is! MARANATHA!!!
3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Its so great to know that God is in control of my life. I often realize how much I need God. He always listens when I pray, he provides for me, he loves me, the list keeps going. It just blows my mind that even if I turn away from him, he is there for me ready to help catch my fall. Our God is so amazing and he gives us so much. We deserve nothing and he gives us the greatest things we could ever wish for.
Psalm 100
A psalm for giving thanks.
This psalm gives great instruction on how our hearts should respond to God in thanks. Gladness, joy, thanksgiving and praise are used to describe our hearts when responding to God in worship. Our hearts and minds should be glad and joyful when we are worshiping the Lord God. We need to have hearts that are thankful and full of praise to a great God who brings everlasting salvation. How often when we pray do we forget to give God the glory that he deserves for the great things he has done? When singing worship to the Lord are we singing with joyful hearts that are filled with gratitude and praise? I really liked the point that Bobby made that our minds need to be where we are going and not where we are. Our minds need to be set on God’s heavenly agenda and not our earthly agenda.
5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Pray and Worship Every Day!
