Psalm 94

The Lord Will Not Forsake His People

94:1 O Lord, God of vengeance,
O God of vengeance, shine forth!
Rise up, O judge of the earth;
repay to the proud what they deserve!
O Lord, how long shall the wicked,
how long shall the wicked exult?
They pour out their arrogant words;
all the evildoers boast.
They crush your people, O Lord,
and afflict your heritage.
They kill the widow and the sojourner,
and murder the fatherless;
and they say, “The Lord does not see;
the God of Jacob does not perceive.”

Understand, O dullest of the people!
Fools, when will you be wise?
He who planted the ear, does he not hear?
He who formed the eye, does he not see?
10 He who disciplines the nations, does he not rebuke?
He who teaches man knowledge—
11 the Lord—knows the thoughts of man,
that they are but a breath.

12 Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O Lord,
and whom you teach out of your law,
13 to give him rest from days of trouble,
until a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the Lord will not forsake his people;
he will not abandon his heritage;
15 for justice will return to the righteous,
and all the upright in heart will follow it.

16 Who rises up for me against the wicked?
Who stands up for me against evildoers?
17 If the Lord had not been my help,
my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence.
18 When I thought, “My foot slips,”
your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.
19 When the cares of my heart are many,
your consolations cheer my soul.
20 Can wicked rulers be allied with you,
those who frame injustice by statute?
21 They band together against the life of the righteous
and condemn the innocent to death.
22 But the Lord has become my stronghold,
and my God the rock of my refuge.
23 He will bring back on them their iniquity
and wipe them out for their wickedness;
the Lord our God will wipe them out. (ESV)

  1. Brooke Miller says:

2 Rise up, O Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve.

God is the ultimate judge and he is coming back soon to judge the world! It is a pretty scary thought! Then again, it is super exciting for Christians because we have something to look forward to: eternal life with our Lord! We don’t have to face destruction or eternal hell. Knowing that God is coming back is also a motivation for me because I would want to be serving and encouraging others when he comes back! Yes, its a daily part of my schedule, but think how terrible that would be if the Lord came back and I was doing something ungodly or sinful? I know that I need to check my heart and evaluate myself every once in a while to make sure God is my first love and that I am still on fire for him! MARANATHA!

16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?

On the school campuses this year, we need to be preaching the gospel courageously and fearlessly! I want to make this my best year yet, also because I am a senior and it is my last year in highschool! This is going to be my last chance to talk to approximately 3,000 students at Aliso Niguel! At least that would be awesome if that many people heard the truth, but it starts with me and other Christians!!! Represent Christ wherever and at school! I know that as a Christian, I am supposed to be different from other people, and this year I want people to see me differently and as someone who loves the Lord with a passion and who is not afraid to represent her savior!

  2. Josh Larson says:

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me. when i slip or fall God is always there to pick me up. loves and cares for everyone in such a way that he send his own son to die on the cross for our sins so that we might b saved. because of this i need to represent christ more in san clemente and not be afraid to talk to others. God is always there to catch me when i fall so i need to try to go big. Maranatha!

  3. Trembling with fear from the almighty God, B says:

mmmmmm well isn’t this intense? Like Brooke Brooke said, the wicked will be judged for all their sin….the description of what the wicked do made me very sad….I know that I was once a wicked person in my sin…but now I’m saved because of Jesus Christ! I just love remembering the day I was saved!! How great of a feeling it was to know that you were going to Heaven and that you were one of God’s chosen people!!! But now I’d like others to know what it’s like and I know I can’t go into the battlefield today without prayer. I think I sometimes forget that….I shall pray today before I go out there that it may be God’s will that they are saved, that they may listen with a willing heart, and that God will do the work that He’s done in me.
oooooooooh and I thought that the verses where he describes how God made the ears and the eyes to see were very intense verses. God is great! :D

  4. Chelseaaaa says:

22 But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.

Only in the Lord is there safety and security. Only in Him can we feel safe for eternity. God has blessed us beyond imagination. I agree with Josh, the Lord is always there so we shouldnt be afraid to got the extra mile. Lord help me to not fear man but fear You.

  5. Steffen Eriksen says:

16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?

I really like what Brooke said. Christians need to be preaching the gospel courageously across the high school campuses of Orange County. The world all lives by a fairly similar pattern: their life is led by their feelings and what they think, for they seek only to follow after themselves. A question is asked in the verse of who will stand against this pattern of wickedness in the world. And who will?? Many people claim to be Christians but when it comes time for them to make a stand, they cower away, too scared to stand up for a Savior. I need to be bold in representing the name of Jesus Christ as we are all His ambassadors. I need to stand out among the crowd at my high school, not that I’m cooler or better than everyone else, but that I stand out as weird, as a freak, because of my evident faith in Jesus Christ! If I can go along my high school days and fit in and be popular, then what does that say about me? No, I need to live a life of no compromise!- not falling into the pattern of this world, but making the resolve action as I refuse to give in to the world!

  6. Dave Hosford praying for revival before He comes says:

Ps 94:12-13 Blessed is the man you discipline, O LORD, the man you teach from your law; you grant him relief from days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked.

Singing songs about the joys of discipline! Discipline is never fun but always worth it! Thank You Lord for caring enough to guide us with the rod of discipline! Please come soon!

  7. Marissa Ramirez says:

16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?

God is talking to us sand he is asking will you stand up dfor what is right or will you be an observer on the sideline. This year the people at Aliso and the other schools we need to take a stand and help the stundents ubderstand the right path to take. I know it is hard to talk to someone you don’t know or do know. Believe me I can be a pleasing person, and that thier needs to stop. So this year and this day I will try to meet someone new and talk to them about our heavenly father. This is my challenge to myself.

2 Rise up, O Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve.

Going along with what I just said up there. Doing what everything that God has commanded and not even talking to one single person will God look daown at me. Sure he might say good job, but I did’t help him spreed the great news about him. I might of saved some peoples lives. But, we will never know because I did’t even speak up. So try to speak up for what is right. Maybe it will be in your classroom. Just remeber NO COMPROMISE.

  8. Max says:

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.

This is a really cool verse. The psalmist was obviously going through some hard times, and he was slipping and stumbling. But when he called out to God, He heard him and helped. The psalmist didn’t even have to ask for the help, God sustained him before he asked. All he did was call out saying that he was slipping. God is listening and He knows exactly what’s going on. He doesn’t need you to tell Him what’s going on, He already knows everything. He just wants us to call out to Him and He will sustain us. So just like the psalmist, when i feel that i am slipping or stumbling, i need to call out to God and He will support me with His love.

  9. Riley Hancock says:

we need to make a resolve at school. Help me to be more like you God on a daily basses by talking to other people and to not laugh at thoughts bad jokes that go around. Change our hearts God make us better.

  10. Beth Lauder says:

12 Blessed is the man you discipline, O LORD, the man you teach from your law; 13 you grant him relief from days of trouble

We might not feel blessed when God disciplines us, but the truth is that God disciplines us if he loves us. Proverbs 3:11-12 says, “My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline and do not resent His rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those He loves, as a father to the son he delights in.” Since I have become a mom the concept of God disciplining us if He lives us has made more sense to me than ever. When I discipline my two year old daughter for disobedience or rebellion I take no joy in it. As a matter of fact, I hate having to discipline her. But I do it because God commands me to and also because I know that the pain I cause her due to my discipline is training her heart and steering her away from sin in the future. God is the same way. If He did not love us He would not discipline us. He would just let us sin whenever we wanted and turn us over to the devastating consequences that our sin would reap. This morning I am thankful for God’s discipline. I see how He has used discipline in my life to turn me away from sin and to lead me to Him and living a holy life.

  11. Jasmine Douglas says:

19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

One thing I love is that the joy of the Lord will never leave us. No matter the circumstance, there will always be a peace that God gives us to comfort us in hard times. One of my favorite passages to go to when I’m dealing with something is Philippians 4:6-7. It says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” During these trials that we come across, let’s make sure to run to the cross, laying down all our worries to Christ, and trusting that he will comfort and guide us.

  12. Elise says:

19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

I definitely needed to read this Psalm today! I was freaking out about how I was going to get through today’s classes without a binder or art supplies, but after reading this Psalm, I feel stupid for worrying at all. God has consoled my soul, as this verse describes, in so many ways in the past. What would stop Him from doing it again now? I need to have complete trust in my God because He is a strong fortress- and my rock. The rest of the Psalm encourages those who have God as their rock: He will avenge us and we will get to spend an eternity with Him. How comforting! Maranatha!

  13. Ben Blakey says:

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.

19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

I was really encouraged by these two verses this morning. Even though the Psalmist felt like he was slipping and his anxiety was great, God comforted and helped him. I can have that same confidence, too! Even on bad days when temptation is hard, I can find support in God’s love. And on days when my insides churn with anxiety, I can find joy in the Lord.

  14. Jacob Antoun 2010 says:

16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?

Loving all the comments about verse 16! I know at our small group we talked last night about boldness and speaking up against sin at our highschools. Being at a Christian highschool, it can be much harder to stand for what is right when all those who claim to be “christians” are not pleasing God with their lives or actions. My prayer this year is that all of us, whether on a Christian campus or a public campus, would take a stand for Christ. That we would call people out on sin, preach the gospel, and live lives above reproach. And what do we have to fear? We have the God, King, and Creator of the Universe on our side :)

  15. Ian H. says:

7 ‘They say, “The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob pays no heed.”
8 Take heed, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise?’

It seems like a lot of people today say or think things like this. They think that either God does not see their sins or that they can hide them from Him. Some even think think that, since God is not judging people for sin now, He is never going to do it, and so they have nothing to worry about. How wrong they are!

11 ‘The LORD knows the thoughts of man; he knows that they are futile.’

Everything I’ve ever considered, contemplated, or thought about, God knows. According to this verse, He knows the thoughts of men and He sees the sins we commit, whether mentally or physically. And those people who think they’re getting away with it ultimately will not. Someday the Lord is going to judge everyone.
Even though we aren’t doomed and have hope in Jesus Christ, it would be very good and beneficial for us Christians to keep this fact in the forefront of our minds. If God knows what goes on in my head and sees everything I do, I should always be endeavoring to think and act in a manner that pleases Him and is good.

  16. laura G says:

PSALMS 94 was a great chapter. WOW!!!!!!!!!! There are two verses that stood out to me today. The first one is verse 11 how it was saying that God knows our thoughts. That is something that I know I need to work on because a lot goes on in my head. Even though they are little sinful thoughts, if I don’t fix that sin now it can grow into a bigger sin.

The second verse that stood out to me was verse 23. It says that God will repay those for their sins by destroying them. Unless they repent. From reading this verse I am more compelled by the Holy Spirit to go share the Gospel with others who have not repented.

    MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!! <3<3<3<3 Don’t Stop Standing!!!

  17. lucas garcia says:

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.

I like this because it’s Awsome!!!!
Everybody needs to just keep on Standing and Praise the Lord!!!

  18. 18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.

19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

I have struggled with worry/anxiety/stress often in my life and this verse just reminds me of the perfect love of our Father and the support that He provides. I have no need to worry or fear because He is always there, supporting me and guiding me along the way! I am so encouraged!

  19. ~ Ariana Mishreki ~ says:

    Goodmorning . . .

    I read . . .

    Psalm 94 . . .

Moses is asking the wicked, do you honestly think, that the man who created everything on a human and everything around us, cannot hear or see? Cannot discipline? Cannot teach man knowledge? Do you really doubt, that the God who made you and knows every sin you commit and every thought you have, that He can’t see that? Think again. God sees everything you commit.

However, for the wise men who listen and follow God’s commands, will be granted relief from his days of trouble. Also, who would be willing to stand up for what’s right? What wise man, will take a stand against evil doers? Who is going to honestly and actually stand up for what’s right and stop what’s wrong?

I pray everyday that God would give me boldness in standing up for what’s right. I do. =) I’ll be like, hey guys turn that bad song off. Or, don’t gossip about that person because it’s wrong. I’m thankful for that also. I’m glad that God’s given me the boldness and continues to do so.

    LOVED THE WHOLE CHAPTER. =)

    ~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~COME O LORD~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~

    (= Have a great day. =)

  20. PaYtOn :D says:

8 Take heed, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise?
9 Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?
10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches man lack knowledge?
14 For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance.

I love the book of Psalm! So much wisdom! And verses 8-10 are comical but also true. I also love verse 14 because the LORD loves me and will never forsake me. He guides me and gave me the gift of eternal life. God is great! AND He will reign forever! :]

***HE WILL NEVER LEAVE ME, SO I WILL NEVER LEAVE HIM!!!***

  21. Alicia Karlsson says:

7 They say, “The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob pays no heed.”
8 Take heed, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise?
9 Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?
10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches man lack knowledge?
11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man; he knows that they are futile.

This type of thinking is so common today. You have people going around living for themselves and they have convinced themselves that God does not care what they do. What a lie that has been told for thousands of years. God is omniscient he sees all things and he also is just and therefore we are held accountable for everything we do because God sees it all, but not only does he see and hear all he knows our thoughts so even what you think God knows. Thats one of the reasons I must thank God everyday for salvation because left to myself I am condemned to hell for all eternity because my thoughts and actions are completely wicked. But because God chose me before the beginning of time to be saved from my sin through the death and resurrection of my Lord Jesus All the wickedness that is in me is washed away and in my place stands Christ. So I need to be fully aware that God see and knows all, but when I sin and go outside of Gods devine plan for me and if I have a repentant heart I will not endure the wrath of God for those sins.

  22. Pastor Bobby says:

Wow! What a clear psalm about how we need righteous people to stand up in this wicked world!

15 Judgment will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it.
16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?

These two verses really sound like our sermon from Don’t Stop Standing this weekend! Who will be a stranger in this world? Who will make a stand for Christ? I am praying that God will rise us up at True North and that it will start with me separating myself from sin and living with no compromise.

I wrote a blog about how so many young people stop going to church and why we are doing the series DON’T STOP STANDING! Check it out here: http://www.compasschurch.org/blogs/pastorbobby/

  23. Matthew Crane says:

9 Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?

10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches man lack knowledge?

I love it when there are rhetorical quesetions asked in scripture, because in almost every situation it is pointing how mankind knows nothing when they thought they know everything. Even as we see in Job it is normally a rebuke of somekind, and it is refresshing to know that God does hear! That God does see! That God does punish! And that He knows everything!

What an awesome God we serve, the Lord of EVERYTHING!

  24. Meisha Preston says:

22 But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.

It is so awesome that we can make the Lord who judges, the Lord who deals out retribution, the Holy Lord of all our fortress and our rock of refuge.

  25. Cameron says:

17 Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.
18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.
19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

i love how that psalms are so encouraging! these three verses lean so much on God in trials, and none on ourselves. so many times when i find myself in a hard situation, it is easy for me to think “how can I get out of this, how can I work to make this better”, when really i need to trust in God and His fiathfulness to help me. i can do nothing without Him, and here thats what the psalmist is talking about. verse 17 notes that if it werent for God, he would be dead. it is the same with us. when we slip, His love supports us, and when we are anxious, He comforts us and asuages our fears. our God is so great!

  26. Alyssa K says:

11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man; he knows that they are futile.
19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

As Matt said (btw Matt, I like and totally agree with your comments :>), God knows everything, and therefore he always knows what our innermost thoughts are. We should not think that only our actions need to be clean, but our thoughts should be pure too. As for verse 19, I love this verse because whenever I feel overwhelmed or anxious, I turn to God and he alleviates my troubles and turns them into insignificant things, leaving me with joy.

  27. Bryce Nilsson:) On God's Team!! says:

16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?
17 Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.

I think both of these verses point directly to Jesus Christ! Without the Lord we would have no one to rise up and defeat the wicked! Jesus Christ DID stand up and take my place on the cross. He took a stand against all the evildoers, he proved that it was indeed possible for Him to die on the cross for the forgivness of sins, and raise again on the third day to complete the process. If it wasn’t for the Lord Jesus Christ I would be on a sure path to eternal destruction! How great is our God!!! Praise his holy name: Who WAS and IS and IS TO COME!!!!
    Maranatha!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. Spencer Camp says:

17 Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.

As the psalm asserts, it would seem that the psalmist, when calling upon God to judge the wicked, one would think that he is claiming perfection. But in verse 17 he acclaims God, that He deserves the recognition because without God he would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.

This is a good reminder to, in all things give God the glory and honor and praise. Without Him this world is surely doomed to destroying itself. God holds all together and is the source of all good. Praise the Lord!

  29. Christy Beymer says:

14 For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance.

This is so encouraging!!! Its so great to know that God is always with you and by your side. There are so many times in our lives it feels that we are alone, but there is no reason to feel that way. Knowing he’s always with me and won’t reject me shows how amazing his love is. There is no greater love and I get to be blessed as apart of it. Thank you God for choosing me as one of your people!!!

  30. Ella says:

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.
19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.
He always does this for me and everyone who believes. He is always there when I need Him. He is just amazing.

  31. ~Elizabeth Reeves~ says:

    12 Blessed is the man you discipline, O LORD, the man you teach from your law;
13 you grant him relief from days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked.

Wow. These verses are intense, and so is this Psalm! These verses are so simple, and so applicable to life! It is so simple, live a disciplined life for God, and while living that disciplined life, it becomes better and better! It is so awesome to know that God sees what people who live for Him do (good or bad) and gives them consequences. The more disciplined, the better life gets! and that is so true! So, by reading and thinking about these verses I will live my life with more discipline than I have now!

  32. Sarah G.! says:

19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

This verse just reminded me of answered prayer in school!! When it comes to class presentations, I tend to get nervous before speaking in front of my peers. During the first week of school, I had to present a poster in front of the class and started getting nervous (stupidly). After I finally realized that i was being ridiculous for feeling this way, I started praying that God will give me peace about it and that I would trust in Him to help me through it, which is something God gave me!! :] It just reminded me that God will always be faithful, no matter what situation I am in!! :D

  33. Austin Payne 2010 says:

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.

19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

The Lord is my Refuge! He will comfort me when I mourn and forgive me when I Sin against Him. He won’t let harm come to His people so rely on Him in all circumstance. For the Lord holds to His promises

  34. Brad says:

Wow, this Psalm just became one of my favorites! The connection between wickedness and a wrong view of God is so clear. What a great reminder that God’s character and actions are more real than whatever the popular opinion of the world is. How sad that God’s patience in not immediately judging sin, so that people can repent, is instead used to justify more sin by people who think that God is just like them. A greatteminder for Christians to be strong, have backbone, stand firm against the wicked belif that God does not see wickedness.

  35. Dr. Vincent Burgess says:

22 But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.

23 He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the LORD our God will destroy them.

I really like theses verses because they give you assurance that the Lord will give you protection in any situation and destroy sinners.

  36. Luke Melrose!!!!!! 2010 says:

22 But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge

If there is one thing that brings me joy, its God as my fortress. When I am being ridiculed by others, its always God who I can lean on and count on. No one else can be there for me 100% of the time like God can. I know God will help me through my trials!

  37. Jasmine W 2010 says:

11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man; he knows that they are futile.

God knows everything about everyone. No one can hide their thoughts from God and He knows that their thoughts are futile. I fear God and not what man thinks of me. I’m going to focus on caring about how I appear to God and not to other people. This is pretty encouraging because the world stresses so much about how I should care about what others think when God is the only one who matters.

    12 Blessed is the man you discipline, O LORD, the man you teach from your law;

Amen! Sometimes I feel down when hardships come my way but in Hebrews 12:7 it says to endure hardship as discipline. Next time hardship comes my way I am going to remind myself that I am blessed that God cares enough about me to refine and mold me to be who He wants me to be.

  38. Allen McAnlis says:

22 But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.
23 He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the LORD our God will destroy them.

The LORD protects those who find shelter in Him. He will not let His people be harmed beyond what they can bear. He takes refuge over us and soon He will destroy the wicked. As a Christian I should hear this and seek others to spread the word and have them come to God. Instead I just think of myself and how I am already saved. I need to earnestly seek out other people so that they may be saved from God’s wrath. For it is coming and it will happen when we least expect it.

  39. Brett *2010* says:

I love how this passage reiterates how we have nothing to fear or worry about in this life, he will always be there, always comfort, and always provide. Sometimes we are tempted to become prideful and think that we can do or have to do things on our own, but this is not true, God’s Word says He is always there; how comforting!!

  40. Lauren Goudge says:

    This is a great chapter!
16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?—Love this! This is the question I am asking everyone! Who’s ready to join me in rising up against the wicked!? I’m ready to rise up against all of those people because I’m tired of hearing all of those who are just dissing God to my face or just even when they think I’m not listening! Im planning on standing up and being bold! please pray for meee

gonna go watch compass night online! :D stoked for this weekend!

  41. Tanner says:

    ELLO… I read

I like verse 9-10,”Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see? Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches man lack knowledge?”

I like this verse because it completely puts down everyone who thinks they get away with something. Sure you may be able to get away with men not knowing but I am much more scared of GOD knowing then of humans knowing. When we sin GOD knows when we do good GOD knows I think its better to do good and be rewarded by GOD then do evil and be punished by GOD.

  42. Mike says:

11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man; he knows that they are futile.

This verse is definitely convicting. There are so many things that seem to take precedence in my daily life, that seem so important at the moment, and that tempt me to put God on a back burner. But God is calling all of us out, telling us that all our thoughts are futile. And it’s true. Nothing in this life is nearly as important as Him and about meditating on His word and focusing on Him through prayer. So when I am tempted, even subtly, to focus too much attention on other things, I need to fix my thoughts on things above, remembering what is truly important.

  43. Jordan Anderson says:

This psalm reminds me that our God is just God. And everything and everyone will be judged. The Lord is righteous and all powerful, and i am very thankful for that.

14 For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance.
The Lord will never reject us. This verse, along with many others in this psalm, is very encouraging to me. Though sometimes i do not feel his presence, i know that he is always there, and will never forsake me. I need to trust in the Lord with all that i have and not hold anything back.

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.
The Lord will support me in times of need!! who does not like to know that someone has got their back right? Well the God of all creation is on my side, and will never let me fall!!! (:

19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.
The Lord knows me better than i know myself. I mean he created me of course. BUt even through the hardest times in my life, the Lord brought the most joyful thing back into my life. Just when i thought there was nothing left to hold onto, he gave it back to me and i am so thankful and joyful and grateful that he did!!
    (: Thank you Jesus!!!!

    MARANATHA.

These are such beautiful, comforting verses!! God will be there for me when i need him most <3

  45. Dan Lauder says:

9 Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?

As a teacher of Anatomy and Physiology I have heaps of respect for how complex the eye and ear are. God is a god of details. If he cares about the physical details, he certainly cares about the emotional and spiritual ones. He knows what our eyes are looking at and how we are processing what we see. He knows what we are listening to and what we think of it. At no point should I ever think God does not know exactly what is going though my eyes and ears and into my mind. This brings my mind to Hebrews 4:13.

“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”

  46. Murphy Danahy says:

9 Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?

This is kinda cool. I love this verse. GOD created the ear and the eye. Then how can we presume that GOD doesn’t hear us? That’s just stupid. It’s kind of funny. We think that the one who created all doesn’t understand his created.

  47. Zach V. says:

9 Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?

This is something that can easily affect me. God can hear everything and see everything, but I am tempted to forget that at times. Verses like these, however, show me how dumb I can be, just like Adam and Eve who hid from God because of their sin. God sees and hears me and remembering that constantly really helps me grow closer to Him.

  48. Eric Walker says:

7 They say, “The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob pays no heed.”

This is how the world thinks. They think that when they are alone, they can sin and no one will know about it but themselves, but they are mistaken. God knows all things. He knows our thoughts, our names, what will happen to us… etc. You name it and God knows us. And since God knows everything, he knows all of the sins we commit in secret. There are no secrets with God. As Christians, I pray that we all don’t just act like Christians around others but that we would act like Christians when we are alone and tempted, fleeing sin and taking refuge in God.

  49. Boyd Jorden says:

What an awesome psalm! No matter what the wicked around him say, the psalmist (a. turns to God for aid and puts his trust in the Lord’s judgment vs. his own, and b). takes a firm stand against evil, while acknowledging fully that it’s only through reliance upon God’s strength that he can take such a stand. This psalm is such a blueprint for how I should handle my trials in life. When people of the world disparage my Christian beliefs and boast about how their view of life is superior, I can stand up for God but still allow Him to be the true and ultimate judge (which He is). I don’t want to be someone who gets caught up in petty grudges, jealousies, or disputes. Instead I want to turn to the Lord for satisfaction and trust in Him to make things right. The Bible promises us that all wickedness will be punished; I’m going to pray that I will be able to hold onto that promise of justice, especially on days when I feel wronged by others.

  50. kelly causky says:

11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man; he knows that they are futile.
    12 Blessed is the man you discipline, O LORD, the man you teach from your law;

futile–> incapable of producing any useful result…
That is our mind, even when scientists, the so-called “wise,” of this earth claim to have knowledge. God knows what we need to know and he put it all in a book called the Bible. Through this Word we have or will have all the knowledge of the universe. Powerful stuff.

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.
19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

  51. Katie Slusher says:

17 Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.

I love that the Psalmist recognizes the continued grace of God in his life. As he calls down judgment on the wicked he is also quick to recognize that the if it were not for the Lord, the same fate would have awaited him. I know sometimes believers have a tendecy to think that we had something to offer God when he chose us; that he chose us because of something we did or would do. However, just as the Psalmist humbly recognized God’s continued grace, so must I. If the Lord had not graciously saved me, I would be destined for death and full of wickedness. Praise the Lord for his gracious help in choosing me to be saved.

  52. Snowmann 2010 says:

9 Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?
10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches man lack knowledge?
11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man; he knows that they are futile.

That is a scary thought to have. He knows all thoughts and will hold us accountable for all. yikes! I need to guard not only my mouth, but my thoughts too. Reading the bible will help in keeping me pure. MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  53. Melissa Cox says:

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.

19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

I’m so thankful for our God who supports me when I feel myself about to slip. Thank you God for my salvation!

  54. Allie Moorefield(: says:

9 Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?
Does God, who implanted the ear, not hear what they say or think? Does God, who formed the eye, not see the kinds of sins they commit? Yes, God sees EVERYTHING! We cannot hide from Him, no matter how much we want too and how guilty we feel. We CANNOT hide. THe Lord knows all, hears all, and sees all.
18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.
This is a great verse. When our feet slip and we are going through a tough time or we just dont feel that we are truly devoting ourselves to God, His love will ALWAYS support us! No matter what! God wont let us fall.

  55. Jeff Modugno 2010 says:

3 How long will the wicked, O LORD, how long will the wicked be jubilant?

I love this verse. This is just how I feel when the hypocritical Christians at my school curse or talk about how great the sinful things they did. I can not wait tell God comes back to judge the world . I can’t thank God enough for letting me be on his team . MARANATHA!

  56. Wesley Wong says:

this psalmist starts off this psalms by saying: O LORD, the God who avenges, O God who avenges, shine forth.
He then goes on to say in verses 3-7 how there are wicked and proud people living happily in this world, people that crush God’s people. People that say, “The LORD does not see.” Now lets put this in today’s life. There are some wicked and proud people roaming our world doing horrible things. They might think they are going to get away with everything they do with things like sexual immorality, drugs, drinking and things of the world. They might think there is no God, or something along those lines. They think they can do whatever they want. But look what verses 8-11 say about these people. It is pretty intense. The psalmist basically saying, God knows everything you do. Now what will God do with these wicked people? Skip down to the last verse of this psalms, verse 23: He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the LORD our God will destroy them.

Now this psalmist isn’t talking about just ordinary wicked people. He is talking about people who, “crush your people, O LORD,” (vs. 5). How do we stand up to those kind of people. This guy answers it right here in this psalms. In verse 16-17 it says: Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers? Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.
This guy is saying, we have to take a stand for our God, we have to rise up for Him against the wicked. But we can’t do it by ourselves, we need the Lord’s help. For if God is for us, who can be against us.
Each day, I am going to ask for the Lord’s help to take a stand for Chrisitianity so i can take a stand against this world.

    (:

  57. Matt Crichton ((2010)) says:

16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?

I was reading this and this verse really popped out at me. Thats a very good question. And its not one that is easily answered. Those who are on Gods team must rise up and take a stand against the wicked. This is something that we can be doing on our campuses. Inviting people to campus lunches, calling them out when they are cussing, callenging them in their faith. These are things that we should be doing to take a stand for Jesus in South Orange County. We are the lights to the world, so shine brightly in His name!!!!!!

  58. nicolee vanderlaann((: says:

16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?
Why is it that we are afraid of what the people of Orange County think about us, instead of being more concerned with how God thinks of us? Instead of rushing and telling everyone the great news of God, people are more interested to spreading the new gossip of worldly things. We should be standing up for God in everything we do, because he is AMAZINGG!!
    and just to add on…
23 He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the LORD our God will destroy them.
Those people that we try to evangilize to, and they just say whatever, one day they will pay the price. God will say to them, “You had your chance”.

DONT STOP STANDING UP FOR OUR AMAZING GOD!

  59. jacksondahl says:

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.
19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

I love these verses. Whenever I am worried about something or struggling with something, God always takes care of it. I really have no reason to worry at all, he is in control! The Lord is so good, I see his goodness everyday, even little things, but anytime I have troubles, he is there, which is so awesome! God is so good!

    NO COMPROMISE!!!
    DON’T STOP STANDING!!!
    MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  60. Stacy Perkins says:

16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?
Just another echo of Pastor Bobby’s teaching for us. It’s a hard thing to be constantly alert, on guard, and ready to go against the wicked. Sometimes, I think, man, it’d be so NICE to have a little tiny break, and sleep in in the morning, and not meet the Lord for our QT (“Quiet Time”). Or, how maybe instead of calling someone who’s been on my heart, to see how they’re doing, how maybe I could just watch an episode of my favorite TV show. Or, how when someone is totally and blatantly against God, how maybe I shouldn’t ruffle any feathers by saying anything to oppose them. After all, I deserve a break every now and then, DON’T I? It’s that little bit of selfishness RIGHT THERE that wedges its way into my heart, and plants its roots right into my soil. And before I know it, a weed has sprouted up, and started to choke out my fruit. Like Pastor Bobby teaches us straight outta God’s Written Word, NO COMPROMISE. And it starts with resolution. If we are not decided, and resolute in what we stand for, we are lending ourselves to be easily swayed–and therefore, easily DEFEATED. We must not fail His Holy Spirit.

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.
And there we have it. Let’s just marinade in His love when we DO find ourselves slipping. He absolutely supports us…

I’m grateful for this SOTD blog. I like reading what everyone gets out of our focus for the day. You guys are awesome.

  61. Never Take David Personal says:

Ok…It is kinda late and my eyes were half shut as I opened my Bible and turned to Psalm 94. Imedieatly my eyes were wide as I read….O LORD, God of vengeance, God of vengeance,, shine forth! (NASB)….wow…I never sung that in Suday school. This is an image of a powerful, just God! He is the “righteous Master, judging in truth” That is something we need to remember….

  62. Alison says:

    12 Blessed is the man you discipline, O LORD, the man you teach from your law;

I should keep in mind that discipline from God is a blessing! It means God cares enough to put me through bad stuff so I grow closer to Him! Yet another reason to rejoice in sufferings :)

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.
19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.

This morning, I was pretty nervous about a quiz I had to take today. I was kinda stressed out, but came across 1 Peter 5:7 which says that we should cast all our anxieties on Jesus, because he cares for us. And even though it didn’t make sense, I felt a really peace in my heart! God is so faithful, I love it so much!!

  63. Mady!! YESSS MY COMPUTER IS WORKING AGAIN!!!!!!! I will once again be posting regularly :) says:

Psalm 94:18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.

God’s love is not a ‘warm and fuzzy’ type of love. God loves us in that he sent his son to die for us so that we dont have to face eternal suffering. When I am going through hard times or my “foot is slipping” I need to rememeber that God loved/loves me by sending his Son for ME! a sinner! it doesnt make sense, but God did it and I should be praising him for it!

  64. Zach Senger 2010 says:

22 But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.

THis verse is simply amazing!! We will go through so many hard times as Christians but whatever we are going through it will never be to much because we have something that other people do not have!! We have God to take refuge in! Whenever we are feeling threatened or down we can take refuge and shelter in God!!! SO SICK!!!!!!!!

  65. Laura Johnson says:

    V.9

I’ve read a lot of verses before that talk about things like God knows everything, our thoughts, how we act and nothing is hidden from Him but I thought this verse was really interesting because of how it says God has created everything and does so many amazing things of course He knows what we say and do. He knows everything, He is God.

  66. Dan Blankenship says:

    Psalm 94

11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man; he knows that they are futile.

This psalm starts with the psalmist cry for vengeance against those who are wicked and arrogant. We know that God will judge the wicked but it is difficult to watch the wicked succeed. Our vengeance is the Lord God who will judge every man according to his deeds and thoughts. Verse eleven says God knows the thoughts of evil Men and knows they are serving no useful purpose. God knows our every thought and will judge us also on our thoughts as well as our actions. We need to make sure as Christians that our thoughts are as pure as our actions. Let’s not be compromised by harboring wicked thoughts and desires.

  67. Mark says:

22 But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge

The LORD will always be our fortress and our strong tower!! We can always go to Him in time of need!!!

    MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  68. Katie Melrose says:

2 Rise up, O Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve.

I liked this verse because we might think that the non-christians are having all the’ “fun” but truth is that they are going to get paid back because it displeases the Lord. Its so scary to think how we are going to be judged on everything as it is said in Ecc 12:14 ” For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” Both these verses just help me keep the right mind set and hope in becoming a stronger Christian! Thanks you Lord! Maranatha!

  69. Rebekah Foreman says:

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your love, O LORD, supported me.

If I am ever falling off the path God is always there to push me back on onto the path towards him. Thank you God for always supporting me and being there to catch me when I fall.
