Psalms 92-93

How Great Are Your Works

A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath.

92:1 It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
and your faithfulness by night,
to the music of the lute and the harp,
to the melody of the lyre.
For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work;
at the works of your hands I sing for joy.

How great are your works, O Lord!
Your thoughts are very deep!
The stupid man cannot know;
the fool cannot understand this:
that though the wicked sprout like grass
and all evildoers flourish,
they are doomed to destruction forever;
but you, O Lord, are on high forever.
For behold, your enemies, O Lord,
for behold, your enemies shall perish;
all evildoers shall be scattered.

10 But you have exalted my horn like that of the wild ox;
you have poured over me fresh oil.
11 My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies;
my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants.

12 The righteous flourish like the palm tree
and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 They are planted in the house of the Lord;
they flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They still bear fruit in old age;
they are ever full of sap and green,
15 to declare that the Lord is upright;
he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

The Lord Reigns

93:1 The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty;
the Lord is robed; he has put on strength as his belt.
Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.
Your throne is established from of old;
you are from everlasting.

The floods have lifted up, O Lord,
the floods have lifted up their voice;
the floods lift up their roaring.
Mightier than the thunders of many waters,
mightier than the waves of the sea,
the Lord on high is mighty!

Your decrees are very trustworthy;
holiness befits your house,
O Lord, forevermore. (ESV)

    ELLO… I read

    I like verse 1,”The LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and is armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.”

    I like this verse because it tells us about who we are worshiping. We aren’t worshiping some made up god who we crafted out of GOD we are worshiping the one true GOD who made everything and controlls everything that has and will happen. HE is in total control and knows us better than we know ourselves. HE is eternal and all powerful we can’t match up to HIS Glory, Power, and Perfection.

  2. Brooke Miller says:

    15 proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

    The Lord is totally awesome and perfect! He is all that truly matters and that satisfies. God cannot be in the presence of sin, and he is so holy and so perfect its amazing! Praise God and give him all the glory that he deserves! He is my rock and my shelter all the time and when there are hard trials. I have comfort that he will never leave nor forsake me. He is a loving and just God who determines 100% of you and there should not be any less percent that is not focused on him!

    1 The LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and is armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.

    Mmmmmmm this speaks for itself haha. I love this verse! The Lord reigns…. he is in complete control of everything, and that is so great to think about. To picture that there is no one who is above our Lord and who can do anything compared to him! God has everything planned out according to his perfect purpose and plan. I love not having to stress or worry about my future, for I know that the Lord’s will, will be better than anything that I have in mind, and I need to pray continually and seek after him! The world is firmly esablished!!!!! God is great!

  3. Steffen Eriksen says:

    14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,

    Pastor Mike was talking one of the nights at Revival 09 about how once someone is in the battle, they have become a Christian and are going to war against the world, they will be in the battle for the rest of their life. Many so-called Christians believe no other person can steal your salvation, yet so many believe that you can take it away from yourself. Is anyone strong that they can undo the saving work that God has already done in them?? No!!! John 10:28 says, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.” For it is by God’s election that He chooses who He wants to save, and nobody can undo salvation, just as no one can save themselves. And so I know that as I am in the battle against the world now, I will still be in the battle until the day I die. I need to take heart in my place in this war and own the position I have here on earth. I need to be bold and courageous, standing up for what is right, continuing the fight. And as I get older, I need to not drop off, but instead be continually growing spiritually, that at an old age I will still bear fruit, staying fresh and green.

  4. Trembling with fear from the almighty God, B says:

    woooooooooow look at the turn around from “rescue us from our enemies oh Lord” to PRAISE THE LORD HE IS FAITHFUL AND LOVING!!! Now I don’t think this should only be for the Sabbath day! What an amazing song that was written. God is someone to admire and love even when you first wake up. haha now this morning, right when I woke up I thought “noooooooo not yet, I need more sleep come onnnnnn” but then right after I had thought that I thought “Bethany what kind of attitude is that? Your so lame if your thinking that. What am I saying? God has provided me with another day to live” XD I tend to do that a lot. But look at the attitude that I started with…tsktsktsk shameful. I should be praising Him from the moment I wake up, to the moment I go to bed and even in my sleep! (that would be so cool!). I am going to praise my majestic king today as I go through school and even afterwards. :)

  5. Marissa Ramirez says:

    12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
    13 planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.

    I like verse 12 when is say flourish like a palm tree. If I were this palm tree I think I am just this tiny seed ready spring out and praise the Lord. Though I am this tiny seed I so much to learn and teach the world about our dear God. So one day I will nbe this beutiful palm tree. It will not be an easy task for me, but hopefull I will have all of you as my witness.

    14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,

    Bearing good fruit is not a walk in the park. Sure we all stumble, but we have eachother to lift us up. Reading the bible and talking to people is an awsome way to bear fruit. Just doing good deeds is good, but ask yourself is it enough for my heavenly Father? These task take hard work and effort. When we work together there is no telling what we can do.

  6. Max says:

    4 Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea— the LORD on high is mighty

    If you’ve ever been out to sea on a boat or something, or just been to the beach, you can see just how powerful waves can get. They can be very scary. But this verse says that God is even more mighty than the biggest and strongest waves! So imagine a huge tsunami, like the one a couple years ago. God is millions of times more powerful than that. That is scary! God could destroy me in an instant if He wanted to. The psalmist is right, the Lord is high and mighty, and should be feared!

  7. Beth Lauder says:

    Psalm 92:7 that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed. 8 But you, O LORD, are exalted forever.

    This is a great psalm that celebrates the righteous rule of God. Verses 7 & 8 stood out to me because they contrast the short-lived glory of the wicked compared to the eternal glory of the Lord. Verse 7 reminds us that we should not be surprised that wicked people will be abundant and will flourish in this life. However, it also tells us that their glory will fade at the end of their lives and they will forever be destroyed. Contrast that to God! He reigns now and forevermore. One day He will be exalted by every nation! In Philippians 2:10-11 Paul reminds us of the truth from Isaiah 45 that, “every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.” We must not be discouraged when the wicked flourish right now. Soon, they will be punished and only God will receive the praise and glory of man!

  8. Cameron says:

    9 For surely your enemies, O LORD, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered.

    sometimes it may seem like there is no point to being righteous in today’s world, and that our of our efforts are in vain. wickedness seems to be prospering, and the righteous ones seem to be afflicted. but we must trust in God and His promises. Psalm 73 mentions the same thing. but we know according to this verse (and many others) that the Lord’s enemies will one day be vanguished and evil will be punished. so lets keep pressing on towards the goal, and keep living holy lives in this present age. one day the Lord’s wrath will be poured out on the nations, and we will be delivered in the ultimate sense.

  9. Elise says:

    14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,
    15 proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

    What an amazingly encouraging Psalm! It reminds us over and over that our God is everlasting and perfectly righteous!! I loved verses 14 and 15 because they describe the Christian life so well. Throughout our days as a born-again Christ follower, we will be constantly growing and producing fruit (good deeds) as a response to the amazing grace God has shown us. We will always stay fresh as if made new. On top of that, we will always be proclaiming the holiness of our God! He is perfect and He is our Rock (verse 15 uses a capital R)! I can’t wait for heaven because I will get to behold my savior’s face and praise Him FOREVER! MARANATHA!

  10. PaYtOn :D says:

    93:5 Your statutes stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days, O LORD.

    God is my rock and foundation and if He isn’t firm then I am going to fall. But God is solid and His holiness will reign forever. He is an awesome God and I want to keep standing for Him! :]
    Good look on spreading His word on your school campuses today! Praying for a Revival! :]

    Goodmorning . . .

    I read . . .

    Psalm 92 & 93 . . .

    “1. It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,”

    “2. to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,”

    WOW! How much of a God thing is that? I just finished praying, that I would still praise God even during school. Yes, it is a heavy week, but still to praise Him. Look at this verse. It’s saying just that. Now that’s a GOD THING RIGHT THERE.

    Jesus, I pray that my mind would never leave you or stop thinking about you. That school wouldn’t overcome my desires to praise you. I need to praise you in the morning, as I’m doing now, and praise you even at night. I need to be thanking you EVERYNIGHT for the day I had. Not to take my education for granted, but to thank you for it. I need to praise ALL THE DAY LONG.

  12. Pastor Bobby says:

    1 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,

    Whoa! Psalm 92 takes me back to a sermon we did last semester called High School Musical: http://www.compasschurch.org/hs/sermons/high-school-musical/audio

    This was about how we should be making music for God and it was awesome how after that a few students at True North wrote worship songs to God. I would love to see that again!

    2 to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,

    We should definitely be excited about worshiping God at church, but this verse makes it clear we should be declaring his praises all the time. Remember, this is why he chose us to be on his team (1 Peter 2:9-10). I am really looking forward to learning more about God this semester from 1 Peter and seeing how this inspires us to praise him.

    Today I am working on our sermon for this weekend about Hoping for Heaven…the confidence that God has saved me and I will someday be there with him is definitely something I can praise God for today!

    Praying for SMALL GROUPS tonight!

  13. Ben Blakey says:

    “to proclaim your love in the morning.”

    If you’re like me, morning is not always the easiest time of day. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like my mind is all there as I get bombarded by thoughts of all I have to do that day. But this morning as I read these words, it was wonderful just to pause even in my quiet time, think about specific ways God has shown his love for me, and praise him for his love! Tonight I plan on doing the same thing and thinking about God’s faithfulness!

    Psalm 93 touches on a topic that is common to think about – the sovereignty of God. While it’s easy to remember “ya, ya, God is in control,” (like it’s just an academic fact) this morning I was challenged to really think about how awesome it is that the God who established the world is sovereign over my life.

  14. 1 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,

    2 to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night.

    I love these two verses because they are a reminder for me of how important it is to worship the Lord and bring Him glory ALL throughout the day; not only that but to spend time with Him from the moment I wake up to the moment I lay my head to sleep at night. I have to agree with Ben on this, about how important it is to start my day off right, in the Word so that I can be focused and loving and worshipping the Lord all throughout the day! PRAISE HIM!

  15. Matthew Crane says:

    Both of these psalms are so good to read this afternoon, but there is a verse in psalm 93 that I have thought about lately.

    2 Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.

    It is interesting to think that at one point in time, I began, like I actually have a beginning. And from then on my being will never cease to exist, I am what Moody calls an, “everlasting” creature. But God is more then that. ALthough I am an everlasting creature, God is an eternal being! How comforting is it to know that we can worship a God that we cannot always truly understand?? If we could actually understand God completely, shouldn’t that make us nervous?

    I praise God for His eternal side, knowing this truth gives me comfort.

  16. Mr. KJ (show respect, saying happy birthday to my sister on facebook or at small groups tonight) says:

    5 Your statutes stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days, O LORD.

    This is an awesome verse! God’s decree are firm. They never change! In our democracy, often we ratify our laws and change them because we notice that something is not always right or just. God’s Law doesn’t need to change because God can’t be corrected, his attributes are so perfect that there is no error in who He is.

  17. Dan Lauder says:

    14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,

    It is actually not that hard to tell whether someone is on God’s team or Satan’s team. You just need to examine their fruit. Jesus said a good tree will bear good fruit and a bad tree bad fruit. By their fruit you will recognize them (Luke 6:43-46). Someone who has been following the Lord for a long time (“old age”) should still have fruit to show for it. And it should be new fruit. When you pick fruit off a tree, new fruit should take its place. The old fruit that you picked doesn’t just plop back on. Those of us who claim to be Christians (especially for some time) should see more and more fruit growing from our lives.

  18. Jasmine Douglas says:

    4 For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands.

    I can totally relate to this verse! And I am sure that you can too. At the end of the day when I look back at everything that I did, or everything that happened, I can see God’s hands at work in it all. He is in total control. I know it seems a bit repetitive when I talk about his sovereignty, but it’s so true! And it’s so evident in our lives! Even when we go through trials. At the time we don’t know why certain things are happening, but then after it has passed, we look back and thank God for allowing us to go through it. In the end it strengthens our faith and it brings him glory!

  19. Jeff Modugno 2010 says:

    14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,
    15 proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

    This is a great verse. The verse shows me I am going keep bearing fruit even when I am old. The war of fighting sin is going to go on tell I die and I am so glad that the LORD is my Rock and that he is perfect. This encourages me to run the race to finish it and not to give up. It is not going to be easy but I have God to help me.

  20. Jackson Dahl says:

    13 planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.
    14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,
    15 proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

    mmmmmmm! Great stuff! I love this analogy.. when we put our trust in the LORD we are being planted in his house, in his courts. Thats the most awesome place to be, in the presence of Him! And since I am planted in his house, He will keep me fresh and green in him when I start to stumble. Whenever I start to struggle in my walk with God, he waters me and rejuvinates me back to righteousness. The LORD is my rock, he will always support me, no matter what kind of troubles I go through. It is so awesome to know that nothing can be bring me away from him because I am planted in his home and he is watching over me!

    MARANTHA!!! Praying for all the rest of the small groups that kick off tonight!

  21. Angela says:

    92:15 proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

    I love this because it truley is stating who God is, that God is my rock and my salvation. That he is pure and sinless and, it just awakes me to want to really become more like him.

    93:2 Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.

    this really just show that God has been here for all times, that there wouldn’t be one thing that he would not know. That he knew from the very begining who we were, and it really just makes me feel good to know him, and that he has been here through all of time.
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!EXCITED FOR SMALL GROUPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Sarah G.! says:

    5 Your statutes stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days, O LORD.

    One thing stood out to me when I was reading this verse and that was the beginning!! Your statutes stand firm…meaning His beautiful and perfect characteristics will never fade away!! God will always be loving, holy, and just along with everything else that He has been!! It makes me yearn for Him and His holiness even more!! We can never be sinless and as righteous as God, which made me dwell on how apart from God we are. I praise God for His glorious characteristics!! :D

  23. kelly causky says:

    Today has not been a good day so far, but this chapter really encouraged me.

    2 Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.

    God is with us forever and ever. There is nothing that could bring him down. Praying to him and obeying him completely are the smartest things that we could do here on earth because he is sovereign. Put your future in his hands.

  24. Shelby says:

    1,”The LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and is armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.”

    I like this verse because it shows us who the Lord is and how powerful he is. Our Lord is eternal and powerful and by this verse we know who we are worshiping. The Lord is so holy, perfect, and majestic, and because of his perfection he cannot be around us sinners. He still loves us though, and chose to send his son to die for us because of his love.

  25. Brennan says:

    12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;

    This verse shows that I as a christian person will flourish and grow in my relationship with God. This shows me that I shouldn’t remain as a sprout but keep growing into a tree that will stand firm in my relationship with God. To be strong when the fires of Satan torment me or when temptation tries to knock me down. This shows that I need to have friends that will hold me up and held me through tough situations like that.

  26. Christy Beymer says:

    4 For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands.

    5 How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts!

    These chapters a pure poetry and are so amazing to read!!! We should always be praising Jesus for what he does for us. All his works are so amazing! Its verses like this that really help get me pumped up. because if i feel like complaining about anything I can think of this verse and realize I should be praising God for what he’s doing! and not looking at the little speck of dust thats bugging me.

  27. Jasmine W 2010 says:

    4 For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands.
    5 How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts!

    God has done so much for me! I’m so glad and am going to keep praising Him joyfully for all the great things that He has done. His thoughts are so profound and I get so much reading His word and dwelling on it instead of what my thoughts are or what the world thinks. yayy! small groups tonight =]

  28. Allen McAnlis says:

    1 The LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and is armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.
    2 Your throne was established long ago; you are from all eternity.

    The LORD is the most high being. He is greater then anything. He alone is the one who judges. He alone is the one that will determine your fate. I was trying to talk to one of my friends today who is agnostic while on a run. She thinks that all religions are right in their own way. I tried explaining to her the contradictions that creates and I pointed out how the one true God says that only christianity is the way to go. Jesus tells us that no one gets to the father except through Him. I left her thinking and tomorrow the LORD will continue to use me to get to her :)

  29. Kelsey says:

    3 The seas have lifted up, O LORD, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.
    4 Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea— the LORD on high is mighty.

    Just another great verse reminding us of the awesomeness of God. :) This one reminds me of how He created the universe. It reminds me that God can control even the most powerful things. God is in control of everything around me, and I need to make sure that I put God in control of my life too. That is one thing I struggle with. I want to be in control of my life, i do not like not knowing what is going to happen, or what my plan is. I need to trust in God and remind myself to keep faith in Him as I let him take control of my life. This verse is a good verse to remind me of that

  30. hunter 2010 says:

    5 How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts!

    Last night I was reading about the function of a cell in my anatomy text book. It is so incredible how complicated it is; a cell is like a small city that takes complete care of itself, and even more amazing is that God created it! Nothng else could have happened to make cells work and function the way they do, no explosion however powerful could have set the different organelles in a cell in the exact right position. Only our God who is full of wisdom and intellegence could create something so intricate, dellicate, and small. Prasie His name!

  31. Riley hancock says:

    I pray for the high school group to be good and we all learn something new to make apart of our lives so that we can live to the fullest for you God.

  32. ~Elizabeth Reeves~ says:

    4 For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands

    Reading this Psalm was awesome because I had just finished an english assignment that asked my opinion on judging people from the past, and I said that God does things for a reason, and His will is His will,and what He does is what He wants, and I have no say in what He does and that if i was God, this world would not be so pleasant compared to the way he has set things up. When reading this verse, it restated and repeated something that I should constantly think about and do to trust God in everything! God does what He wants, and not what I want. I need to be constantly thinking about this, and knowing everything is what He wants, not what I want.

  33. Snowmann 2010 says:

    6 The senseless man does not know, fools do not understand,
    7 that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed.
    8 But you, O LORD, are exalted forever.

    Wow. I seriously cannot begin to express how bothersome this is to me. I always am seeing this occur almost everywhere I go and it frustrates me. I know it is a trap set by the Devil and By our own evil desire we are enticed (James 1:14, read more at: http://www.blueletterbible.org/Bible.cfm?b=Jam&c=1&v=14&t=NIV#14 ). I pray God keeps me strong and continues to uplift me and keep my mind, soul, and body pure.

  34. Mike says:

    5 How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts!

    Great comment Hunter! God has created things on scales too vast for us to understand – and also too small for us to picture in our minds. And yet everything follows the rules that have been set into place for it. God is a God of order, as can be seen in the immense diversity in the world around us, but with each organism in its proper place and basic mathematical principles that we “discover” working in unity and building off of one another. Even the things that still baffle scientists today, God knows; and the complexity in His creation is only a partial reflection of His true nature! Whenever I walk outside and see His creation, or think/read about the vast complexity in His world, my first reaction should be to praise Him for what He has made and how it reflects His perfect character!

  35. Michelle [Slave for Christ] 2010 says:

    awesome comment Mike!!!!!
    5 How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts!

    mmm, and i need to mimmick God in this verse! I need to keep my thoughts focused on things above and i need to keep my actions pure and godly…i am a slave for Christ and that needs to show. I need to make sure that i am recognized as a follower of Christ- not for my glory, but for Gods. I need to make sure that i dont compromise in anything i do…i need to make the Lord glad with my deeds and my thoughts!!!!Gods works are so profound.Like Mike said, God is amazing!He created the sky and everything that is so beautiful to us. Let creation sing!!!!!
    Lord, let my thoughts and actions glorify You this week…but not just this week…forever!!

    MARANATHA!

  36. Eric Walker says:

    2 to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,

    Praying and reading the word of God in the morning can be hard if your not a morning person (like me) but very rewarding. I know that school has started and if you have a 0 period like me, it is almost impossible to wake up so early and read the word of God ( I can hardly make it to the bathroom i’m soooo tired) but if we can read in the morning, that would be best. Even if we can’t read the bible in the morning, we should definatly be reading it when we get home. I know for me that when I don’t read my bible and pray everyday, I feel lost and vulnerable and I hate it. That’s why we all need to be reading God’s word and praying as much as we can, and continually Praise God!!!!!

  37. Aubree Calderwood says:

    “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

    This is a great verse. God is timeless. God is strong. “he is my rock.” He is absoultly holy and perfect. He can not be around sin therefore….. we must separate ourselves from sin as well. Obviously no man on Earth can be as perfect and holy as Him, but we should still strive for perfection beacuse we should want to please God. It really makes me feel convicted for my sin. I used to think “oh, that was only a really small sin.” But afterall any sin is just as bad as another. The best part though…is that even though i fall short almost daily, if i repent i can be forgiven. God is so good to me… so i should give thanks and live by His word!!! :)

  38. Murphy Danahy says:

    7 that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be forever destroyed.

    Though the wicked spring up like grass, they will be forever destroyed. Great verse. Anytime you think that the wicked got it better, just check out these verses and see the truth. They will be destroyed.

  39. Lauren Goudge says:

    que pasa!?
    15 proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”—Awsome chapter!! It is soo cool that Jesus is so perfect and amazing and as Christians we are supposed to make him the main priority in our life! It’s really comforting to know that my idol and the one I follow is someone who lived a PERFECT life and then died for my sins that are so horrible and I definitely do not deserve this life but Jesus gave it to me any way! Thank you LORD!!! He is my Rock and is there for me through whatever, He will stand! I am really going to make Him #1 in my life wanting to be so much like him that I stand out from everyone else!!

    9 For surely your enemies, O LORD, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered.—This passage is scary but it makes it clear that all who disobey the commands of Jesus Christ will be ultimately punished! All of the people I hear and see of total acts of disobedience around me and it just makes me feel bad for all of those people who do not know where they are going to end up! God’s wrath is going to be poured out on them! I will be praying for all of these people the God will show to them what needs to change.

    Praying for all small groups! So excited for this year :D

  40. Rebekah Foreman says:

    5 How great are your works, O LORD, how profound your thoughts!

    How amazing is everything around us. God put so much thought into making each and everyone and everything. It is truly amazing!! God thank you for putting so much thought into us and everything around us you are truly majestic.

  41. It's Daniel Yo! says:

    6 The senseless man does not know, fools do not understand,

    Back on SOTD for good now! This verse reflects MANY if not, ALL the high schoolers at my school (except the True North group). The people at my school do not “have time” or “get it” when it comes to God. Really, those are stupid answers because GOD CREATED TIME AND UNDERSTANDING!! Really the people at my school (and all others) are lost and that’s why evangelism is a huge priority for me this year!

  42. Jenae naeee says:

    15 proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

    I need to stay away from all types of wickedness because if i want to dwell in the house of the Lord forever, i can not have any wicked in me!

    1 The LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and is armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.

    This just proves God’s unbelievable power… he is so unmovable, untouchable, undefeatable

  43. Allie Moorefield(: says:

    Perfect Psalm for glorifying God!
    8 But you, O LORD, are exalted forever.
    But you, and only you God, are exalted and lifted up high FOREVER! Like Pastor Bobby says in his sermon, how can you just look at the sky and doubt there is a God? The world did NOT just evolve. It states in the very first book in the very first verse that God created everything! Everything around us is beautiful and should make us want to worship GOd all the days of our lives. We could all go on for house about how magnificent our Lord truly is. He is majestic and indescribable!

  44. Dr. Vincent Burgess says:

    12-13 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
    13 planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.

    4 Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea— the LORD on high is mighty.

    Verses 12-13 are the ultimate truth, and it says it pretty obviously if you are with God then you will, flourish and grow. Verse 4 is awesome because it describes how great God is and it’s impossible to comprehend that one being is mightier than the greatest seas.

  45. Katie Melrose says:

    12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;

    13 planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.

    14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,

    15 proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

    Well I coudn’t just pick one verse so I chose a few. These verses just reminded me of the sermon at True North United. How many of us are actually going to be still standing on Gods side when we die? But as a Christian its such a comfort to know that no matter how old I get I will always stay “fresh and green” and still bear fruit! Im looking forward to my life ahead with the Lord and I am so excited to see what he has in store for me! I pray that he will just help me make the right decisions and that I can glorify him in everything I do! Thank you Lord, You are my Rock and I know that there is no wickedness in You!! Maranatha!

  46. GaBrIeL VoRiS 2010 says:

    1 The LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and is armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.

    I love this verse because it makes the Lord just seem so powerful and just so glorious. It makes Him seem like the actual powerful God that He actually is instead of the weakened views that many see Him in today. I cannot to worship the Lord for eternity.

  47. Shane McCuistion 2010 says:

    1 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,

    2 to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,

    Worship and praising God is just something that a lot of people will just do at Church. Some people don’t even do it at Church. There just kinda saying the words and they don’t even think about what they are singing. I even ask myself if I understand what I am singing. It is sort of pointless to be singing praise songs to God, but you don’t even get what you are singing to Him. Worship is something we should think about more often and do on a daily basis. If we don’t understand something then we should ask our worship pastor or maybe look up who wrote the song and maybe they have a video about that song. I am definitely going to worship God every day!!!

  48. Bryce Nilsson:) says:

    9 For surely your enemies, O LORD, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered.

    God is awesome! God loves what is good but hates what is evil. It is encouraging to me, to know that my enemies here on this Earth that try and take me off the path of rightousness, those people are enemies of God!!! I need to be bold and fearless! Who is there to fear if God is on OUR team???? I choose the team leading to eternal life in heaven, not following the ways of the world which will lead to hell and destruction! God will DESTROY all enemies of his!! Which team are you on? The victor… Or the eternally defeated?? The choice is yours…
    I CHOOSE GODS TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Maranatha!!!:)

  49. sHaNnOn tWeEd!!! says:

    2 to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,

    heyy guys i read…

    this verse stood out to me because i brought me back to this summer at the beach nights when ben told us about how God loves us the same every day all the time any place becuase HE CHOSE US! and because we were His chosen preddest

  50. sHaNnOn tWeEd!!! says:

    oooppppsss wasnt done…. predestined people His love will endure for ever! so let us procliam His love for us in the morning! (and at night but u get the piont)

  51. Luke Melrose!!!!!! 2010 says:

    Psalm 93 was tight! The deep words of the Psalms really move me! Verse 4 was the most outstanding verse to me:

    4 Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea— the LORD on high is mighty.

    These words just spark my thoughts and give me a really good image of just how cool God is! When I read this verse I think of a powerful storm overtaking a ship. (It reminds me of those movies when the people cant do anything to avoid the awesome power of the storm). Then I apply all this to how awesome God is and multiply it by a thousand. MY MIND CANNOT CONTAIN IT! the Lord on high is mighty!!! I so believe it!

  52. 1 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,

    Hack yeah it is! This summer at Revival the worship that was played had such amazing lyrics (HILLSONG UNITED!!) and I could really feel the presence of God when we sing those great worship songs like Lead me to the Cross, Soon, INside Out, and lots others. God deserves all praise and glory and this verse tells us to make music to the Lord. Now im not the most musically talented person in the whole world, but I do enjoy singing loud in my room when Im alone-blasting my worship music! That brings God glory!

    3 The seas have lifted up, O LORD, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.

    Verses like these always bring me back to a line Bobby said one sermon that looking around and admiring God’s creation by saying the sunsets beautiful or that the flowers look good bring God glory. Even the seas declare the glory God deserves. This week I am going to look around and admire God for his wonderful creation!

  53. josh senger says:

    3 The seas have lifted up, O LORD, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves
    i think this verse is so cool! thinking about just listening to the waves and knowing that they r praising Gods name. it makes me think of the crashing sounds of waves as a choir singing to God and that is so cool to me. i want to be praising God like the waves. the waves rnt even living like we r and i should be praising Him even more

  54. J YOUNG says:

    2 to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,

    This verse actually means a lot to me. When I think about God, I think about how awesome he is, it makes me want to pray to Him continually, praising His name. In one of Bobby’s past sermons, he encouraged us to talk (pray) to God all day, building a relationship with Him. Proclaiming His love in the morning, praising His beauty in the afternoon, and His faithfulness at night.
    Stand Strong.

  55. KATIE SLUSHER says:

    14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,

    Small Groups was awesome tonight!

    I love this verse because it talks about Christians continually bearing fruit. There is never a time in my life where I should stop growing or bearing fruit. As Christians, we need to be ready to fight sin until the very end. I need to make sure that I am always engaged in this war and never become comfortable with my sin.

  56. JWade says:

    1 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,

    one of the things i am most greatful for is that God wants us and commands us to worship Him. this is one of my favorite things to do and i feel soooo unworthy to be alowed to worship Him. since God alows us and commands us to worship Him i NEED to literally put my heart and soul into the worship every time

    MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  57. christopheriksen says:

    15 proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

    It’s so amazing to know that even though I seem to fail all the time, God has no wickedness in Him and He is my Rock that I take refuge in. God’s power can restore me and prevent me from sinning, which is something totally beyond my power. Lord, thank you so much that you never leave us and Christianity isn’t something we have to work out on our own. Please continue to fill me with your Spirit so that I can resist temptation and truly live differently for your glory, because on my own all I’ll ever do is fail.

  58. Ella says:

    These chapters are amazing. What would we do with out God’s word. I love it so much, whenever I am down I go to it and He gives me awesome advice on what is happening in my life.
    1 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,
    2 to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,
    3 to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.
    These verses are so joyous. I LOVE when the Bible talks about praising God. I find it incredible and just to think that I will get to go to Heaven and sing praises all the time there. I also get to sing praises here to, just everything around us is just crazy. Who could have a better God than ours!!!!

  59. Ian H. says:

    1 “The LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and is armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.”

    4 “Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea— the LORD on high is mighty.”

    What a great description of God. He reigns, is robed in majesty, is armed with strength, and is mighty! He is truly awesome and I can’t fully comprehend how great, majestic, and powerful He is. But that doesn’t mean I should not try. To the contrary, His majesty should leave me in awe and have my constant attention and applied thought. Constantly thinking about the Lord (what He is like and what He has done) will help me keep my focus in the right place, that is, on Him. And if I am focused on Him, it will be much easier to effectively follow Him (Hebrews 12:2-3).

  60. P.J. says:

    “For you make me glad by your deeds, O LORD; I sing for joy at the works of your hands.”

    God should bring all of us joy every day, all day! I want to display my gladness for God through generosity and kindness towards others specifically at school, but also at other places/events. God arise in me an incredible joy that would come out in my actions and thoughts!

  61. Alison says:

    Loving all the comments!!

    4 Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea— the LORD on high is mighty.
    5 Your statutes stand firm; holiness adorns your house for endless days, O LORD.

    God is permanent and mighty! He controls everything, keeps everything in its rightful place. He keeps the earth spinning, the grass growing, the sun shining. God is so powerful!! I can’t wait til Jesus comes back for his followers!! MARANATHA!!

  62. Jordan Anderson says:

    1 The LORD reigns, he is robed in majesty; the LORD is robed in majesty and is armed with strength. The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved.

    3 The seas have lifted up, O LORD, the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.

    Our God is beyond words! He is to be praised. Verse 3 reminds me of the verse that says if we do not praise him, the Lord will still get his praise, because even the rocks will cry out! All of creation cries out to the Lord and praises him daily. I am going to give praise and worship to my God daily. MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  63. 1 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,
    2 to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,

    It is good to praise the Lord at all times because he never changes, he is always the same, awesome and mighty and working wonders! Not just on the weekend or during my quiet time, he is worth praising from morning till night. This was a great encouragement for me today to keep God’s Word in front of my eyes and in my memory, to be thankful always and to play worship music whenever I can so that my heart will always be giving God the praise he is so worthy of!

  64. Spencer Camp says:

    12 The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;

    That’s why to pursue righteousness. The righteous will grow like a palm tree…I’ve seen that before. I want to pursue holiness and be firmly “planted” (palm tree) in the cornerstone of our faith, who is Christ.

    4 Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea— the LORD on high is mighty.

    Deacon Jeff and I were out surfing together at cottons one lofty summer swell day; the waves were macking and pounded; the lip slaped loudly upon the glassy water. The true power of the waters made both of us scared. It wasn’t fun. Surfing is more fun when your not trying to avoid getting pounded and wish-washed the whole time. Anyways I realized that God is far more mighty and great than the largest waves of the sea and I need to fear and revere Him as the great God, not lessening him to my weak human perceptions. He is high and almighty! Nothing less, and far more!

    Praise God!

  65. Stacy Perkins says:

    1 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,
    2 to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,

    A. How great is MUSIC! How amazing is God that He manifests His Holy Spirit uniquely through each and every single Christian. Singing and making music? Totally not my gift. But, ohhhh, how it FULLY blesses me to sing my little heart out, voice cracking and all, as a way to communicate my love to my Savior. God is good.

    B. K, even in the morning–morning breath, sleep in the eye, hair higher than if it were still 1992 and I still had my bangs–His love is what we have to celebrate and rejoice in. Even as morning monsters, He chooses us. Because He LOVES us.

    C. Proclaim His, “…faithfulness at night.” While I can still remember the day that I chose to spend my nights out, being friends with the world, even THEN, God was faithful. And patient for me to concede to His love, own my sins, and embrace me in my brokenness.

    We have a God of LOVE. A merciful, gracious, faithful, steadfast, and patient God. And we know He HATES sin. Let us encourage one another, and help one another to stand strong in obedience. Let us unite in Him, as one Body, to bring His love to OTHERS.

    Small Groups WAS awesome tonight. I am so blessed to be a part of such an amazing ministry.

    In the morning, when we wake up, and we find ourselves still here, let us be SPURRED by the fact that God didn’t take us through the night, which means He has MORE for us to do TODAY…Lord, use us as You will, to use us to love others, as YOU have loved US.

  66. Sara L. says:

    14 They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,
    15 proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”

    When I read this verse, it was another encouragement to me that as a Christian, I will never fall away (provided, of course, that I actually am). It reminds me that I must always be telling others of the holiness of our God and His merciful grace. I think that the the phrase, “fresh and green”, is perfect here because it really shows how I need to not just doing things for God later in my life, but always being more and more enthusiastic about it.

  67. Chelseaaa says:

    1 It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,

    2 to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,

    Lifting praises to the Lord by song, I think, is one of the most personal forms of praise (to me). It is then when I feel the closest to God because my mind is so completely focused on immursing myself in His glory and power.
