I Will Sing of the Steadfast Love of the Lord
A Maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite.
89:1 I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever;
with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.
2 For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever;
in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.”
3 You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one;
I have sworn to David my servant:
4 ‘I will establish your offspring forever,
and build your throne for all generations.’” Selah
5 Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord,
your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones!
6 For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord?
Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord,
7 a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones,
and awesome above all who are around him?
8 O Lord God of hosts,
who is mighty as you are, O Lord,
with your faithfulness all around you?
9 You rule the raging of the sea;
when its waves rise, you still them.
10 You crushed Rahab like a carcass;
you scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.
11 The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours;
the world and all that is in it, you have founded them.
12 The north and the south, you have created them;
Tabor and Hermon joyously praise your name.
13 You have a mighty arm;
strong is your hand, high your right hand.
14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;
steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.
15 Blessed are the people who know the festal shout,
who walk, O Lord, in the light of your face,
16 who exult in your name all the day
and in your righteousness are exalted.
17 For you are the glory of their strength;
by your favor our horn is exalted.
18 For our shield belongs to the Lord,
our king to the Holy One of Israel.
19 Of old you spoke in a vision to your godly one, and said:
“I have granted help to one who is mighty;
I have exalted one chosen from the people.
20 I have found David, my servant;
with my holy oil I have anointed him,
21 so that my hand shall be established with him;
my arm also shall strengthen him.
22 The enemy shall not outwit him;
the wicked shall not humble him.
23 I will crush his foes before him
and strike down those who hate him.
24 My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him,
and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
25 I will set his hand on the sea
and his right hand on the rivers.
26 He shall cry to me, ‘You are my Father,
my God, and the Rock of my salvation.’
27 And I will make him the firstborn,
the highest of the kings of the earth.
28 My steadfast love I will keep for him forever,
and my covenant will stand firm for him.
29 I will establish his offspring forever
and his throne as the days of the heavens.
30 If his children forsake my law
and do not walk according to my rules,
31 if they violate my statutes
and do not keep my commandments,
32 then I will punish their transgression with the rod
and their iniquity with stripes,
33 but I will not remove from him my steadfast love
or be false to my faithfulness.
34 I will not violate my covenant
or alter the word that went forth from my lips.
35 Once for all I have sworn by my holiness;
I will not lie to David.
36 His offspring shall endure forever,
his throne as long as the sun before me.
37 Like the moon it shall be established forever,
a faithful witness in the skies.” Selah
38 But now you have cast off and rejected;
you are full of wrath against your anointed.
39 You have renounced the covenant with your servant;
you have defiled his crown in the dust.
40 You have breached all his walls;
you have laid his strongholds in ruins.
41 All who pass by plunder him;
he has become the scorn of his neighbors.
42 You have exalted the right hand of his foes;
you have made all his enemies rejoice.
43 You have also turned back the edge of his sword,
and you have not made him stand in battle.
44 You have made his splendor to cease
and cast his throne to the ground.
45 You have cut short the days of his youth;
you have covered him with shame. Selah
46 How long, O Lord? Will you hide yourself forever?
How long will your wrath burn like fire?
47 Remember how short my time is!
For what vanity you have created all the children of man!
48 What man can live and never see death?
Who can deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah
49 Lord, where is your steadfast love of old,
which by your faithfulness you swore to David?
50 Remember, O Lord, how your servants are mocked,
and how I bear in my heart the insults of all the many nations,
51 with which your enemies mock, O Lord,
with which they mock the footsteps of your anointed.
52 Blessed be the Lord forever!
Amen and Amen. (ESV)

1 I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.
God’s love and perfection is definitely something worth singing and praising him for! It is amazing to meditate on how powerful our God truly is! I have been thinking about it a lot lately, and I am so thankful for the hope and reassurance I have! I want to be used as a tool and have my mouth speak of the gospel and truth to those who need to hear it. I am praying for a revival this year at school and to spread the truth!
8 O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
Another awesome verse that stood out to me! There is NO ONE like our God! He is so perfect and holy! No one else can compare to the greatness of the Lord God Almighty! There is no excuse to not praise God or to be thankful! I have every reason to be serving him with an obedient heart! He has done so much and I know I am so undeserving of all his goodness, but God is so loving, caring, and merciful! Praise the Lord for he is awesome!
Ps 89:8 O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
Yep Brooke! NO ONE like God whose faithfulness surrounds Him! He has already paid for our sins – now how will we respond?
7 In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him.
In many religions, some that claim to be Christianity, the followers of the religion say that they worship God, but they also worship the angels, Mary, or other things they consider higher beings. This verse talks about how the holy ones that dwell in God’s council greatly fear Him. The second part of the verse says that God is more awesome than all of the holy beings who surround Him. The angels that some people worship can’t compare to the glory of the LORD; no one should worship them over God. Mary, the mother of Jesus, shouldn’t be bowed down to, for instead people should be bowing down to the LORD. Any other higher beings doesn’t deserve any worship while God deserves all of the worship of everyone. Revelation 19:10 says, “At this I fell at his [the angel's] feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Even the angel here tells John not to worship him but to only worship God. I need to make God the only thing I am living for and the only thing I worship. I need to have no idols before me, not only idols of gold or silver or other statues, but also that I don’t let anything become an idol in taking priority over God. I need to always keep God as my #1 priority, but more than that, that He is all that I am living for, the only priority that matters!
16 They rejoice in your name all day long; they exult in your righteousness.
17 For you are their glory and strength, and by your favor you exalt our horn.
I love how this verse talks about rejoicing in God’s name “all day long.” This is sometimes hard for me. It’s so easy to get caught up in all the things I have to do (even good things) and forget to be actively rejoicing and thinking about God all day long. These verses are a great encouragement to me to keep on pursuing the Lord and rejoicing in him all day long as I find my strength in him!
Can’t wait to see everyone at True North.
1 I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations
I was out at the Aliso Town Center last night watching the faithfulness of God being proclaimed to the younger generation. It was awesome to see high school students sharing the gospel!! Praying for revival at True North and Compass.
See you all at True North
8 O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
This psalm is rich with wonderful descriptions of God and His attributes. Verse 8 stood out to me because it expresses the truth that there is NO ONE like God. God is so full of faithfulness that it surrounds His very being. That is encouraging, isn’t it? When God promises something in Scripture to His children or when He says something about His character we can take it to the bank 100% of the time. God’s Word and promises are always true! I am so grateful that this mighty, faithful, loving God chose me before the creation of the universe to be His child. Every day I pray prayers of thanksgiving for my salvation and that I could be in a right relationship with the God of the universe. Thank you, Lord, for mercifully saving me, electing me to be Yours. I had nothing to do with my salvation, you picked me for Your team.
6 For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD ? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings?
7 In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him.
8 O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
9 You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, you still them.
The Lord is so perfect and holy. No body can compare to him. I am so bless to to him my Lord. I love the power shown in verse 9, amazing!!
7 In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him.
Right on Steffen!
This verse stood out to me as well. In heaven God is feared and the heavenly beings are praising him constantly. Revelation 4:8 says that “day and night they never stop saying, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.” God is separate from everything else. He stands out as awesomely different.
If the heavenly ones readily acknowledge this, how much more should we temporary beings be doing the same? How much more should I who has a fleeting life (v.47) be fearful of the eternal God? James 4:14 says my life is like a mist, that appears for a little while than vanishes. As one who has no power over the grave (v.48) and is destined to die, I need to maintain a health fear of the one who can not only destroy my body, but my soul as well (Matt 10:28).
Great Chapter!
6 For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD ? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings?
7 In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him.
No one is like the Lord, no one even compares! No one in heaven is like the Lord. His power and faithfulness sets Him apart! God is greatly feared in heaven.
See you at True North!
Great comment Stephen!
34 I will not violate my covenant or alter what my lips have uttered .
This verse is so encourging! Even though this verse was written about God’s covenant with David we can apply this verse to our lives as well. Every promise in the Bible we can have faith that God will keep it! Regardless of my circumstances and how I feel God is always faithful, and I will trust Him!
Psalms 89 was a great chapter!!!!!!!!!! 52 Praise be to the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.
This verse stood out ot me because we need to be praising the Lord forever. Even in hard times.
6 For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD ? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings?
NO one! NO one! and NO one! No one is like the LORD. He is all powerful and amazing! His love endures forever, and through His son we are able to see Him in heaven. The LORD is the one and only and I am so greatful that He made us in His image and not the transmutation of an ape or starfish. I am one of I kind(even though I am a twin). The LORD is like no other on heaven or on the earth. He is the one and only! :]
***PRAISE THE LORD!!!***
8 O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
There is only one true God, and there is no one that is like him. He is all powerful and we always need to remember that. He is faithful to his word and you can always trust in him and know that he is always there.
These verses are SO true!! No one is like our God, no one can do the amazing things and no one can satisfy like God does. He is faithful and just, and he is always there! I know that he will never leave, and that he is always holding on to me.
We need to be living for God to the fullest we are ether for Him or we are aginst Him I pray we are for Him. God help us all to stand out at our high school and I pray for the high school groups.
5 The heavens praise your wonders, O LORD, your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.
Have you ever just sat back and looked at a beautiful sunset, a majestic mountain, a powerful river? All of that was created by the LORD our GOD for us. How amazing is that? It is stunning that he would care that much about us.
52 Praise be to the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.
Help me praise your name forever more.
1 “I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.”
52 “Praise be to the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.”
The Psalmist starts out and ends with praising God. You can tell by reading this Psalm that throughout the whole thing, even toward the end when he is asking for retribution for the king, the Psalmist’s whole attitude is one of worship and awe of the Lord. That’s the kind of attitude I want to have, not just on Sunday when singing at church, but every waking hour! The Lord is so awesome and has done so many amazing things that I should be consumed with wonder and praise for Him all the time. Sadly, I am constantly distracted as the things of this world fight for an always-growing place in my life. I need God’s help to live without compromise! Lord, help me to resist Satan and turn to you in worship and submission every day.
30 “If his sons forsake my law and do not follow my statutes,
31 if they violate my decrees and fail to keep my commands,
32 I will punish their sin with the rod, their iniquity with flogging;
33 but I will not take my love from him, nor will I ever betray my faithfulness.
David’s descendants did indeed forsake the Lord, and He punished them. But He never completely deserted them; he was faithful to restore them when they returned to Him. In the same way, God has promised that because we are His children nothing can snatch us out of His hand. When we choose to disobey, He disciplines us, as any loving father should. But when we confess our sin, repent and turn back to Him, He forgives us. We do not deserve His patience or faithfulness at all, but He continues to remain faithful even when we are faithless. God truly is awesome, and worthy of praise, and I should never forget to thank Him and praise Him for His incredible mercy to me!
Great Scripture!
6 For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD ? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings?
I love this verse because of how it states the shear power of our God! There truly is no one in comparison to our God. I thank him for for being my one and only God.
Hope everyone is having a great sunday thanks to Him =)
26 He will call out to me, ‘You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Savior.’
This verse is great for me. Sometimes I don’t realize that God is all we have, I will put time into other pointless things and sometimes put off my time with God, my Father, my Savior to play a game or watch TV. But this verse will always remind me that God is all I have, need, and want.
16 They rejoice in your name all day long; they exult in your righteousness.
17 For you are their glory and strength, and by your favor you exalt our horn.
He is our God, and He is my God. I will rejoice in His name and say how amazing He is.
35 Once for all, I have sworn by my holiness— and I will not lie to David-
36 that his line will continue forever and his throne endure before me like the sun;
37 it will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky.”
I love how these verses talk about the natural world serving, symbolically, as witness to God’s faithfulness. I need to remember that I can count on God’s faithfulness like I count on the sun and the moon appearing in the sky. Even when I am in the midst of trials, my faith in God’s promises should be strong–bedrock. If I wake up each day without worrying about whether the sun is still out there producing heat, then I should be even more sure of God’s word; God is perfect; He does not lie; He does not make false promises like we sometimes do. I want to praise God that I can look at the sun and moon and remember His faithfulness to me.
6 For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD ? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings?
This is soo true. Who can compare with the incredible awesomeness of Jesus. He is holy, and awesome and no words can properly describe him. If we believe that the Lord is so great and powerful, shouldn’t we fear him? I think that if we really meditate on how great God is, it is much easier to fear him. I am continuing to pray that we all would develop the fear of the Lord and be to afraid to sin. (Proverbs 1:7).
8 O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
No one is like God or even come close. He is there for us every step of the day. His love and faithfullness surrounds me
48 What man can live and not see death, or save himself from the power of the grave?
This verse makes it clear that we can’t do anything to save ourselves, it’s all about Christ and what He has done to save us. Only Jesus Christ’s perfect, holy life can take the place of our sinful ones.
7 In the council of the holy ones God is greatly feared; he is more awesome than all who surround him.
This verse reminded me of Bobby saying in his deep announcer voice “GOD IS AWESOME!” This verse makes me picture God with all the angels and the elders around his throne, and he is more holy then them put together and more perfect than anyone could ever imagine. This verse goes to show that there is nothing on this earth that compares to God, and nothing that can satisfy like he does. Those sins that I have a hard time giving up?…God can fill the void. Nothing in this life is going to last, but God is eternal. I think about this at school- God is so much more awesome than having a reputation of the funny or super nice to everyone girl. God satisfies much more than people. I need to remember that this week.
ELLO… I read
I like verse 1,”I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.”
I like this verse because this is what my mouth should be saying. I’m not saying that’s all I will ever say. I mean that whenever we sin then we are not saying these things actions speak louder than words and whenever I sin I’m not making GOD’s faithfulness known to everyone I’m just making all followers of GOD look like hypocrites. I need to watch how I act and what I say at all times.
CYA
14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.
This verse took me back to the Beach Night when Pastor Bobby spoke on God being 100% just and 100% loving. As we know, God is 100% perfect—which makes me think about how un-perfect I am. How would I be described by others—would I have attributes of righteousness, justice, love and faithfulness?
But how wonderful for us that God sent his son who died for us so that we may exchange our tainted resume in for Christ’s so that we can have salvation.
15 Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD
2 I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.
24 My faithful love will be with him, and through my name his horn will be exalted.
I am going to follow the psalmist’s example and declare that God’s love does stand firm forever. God is so faithful and I love how this psalms talks so much about his faithfulness. Sometimes I wonder if God is there with me in my hard times, trials, and temptations but I know shouldn’t because I know that God is faithful. This gives me a new perspective because a lot of say I have to have faith in God when God is actually very faithful to me and sustains and strengthens me through everything. He loves me the same even though I don’t deserve. I can definitely trust and rely on His love and faithfulness. That means that He is my hope.
47 Remember how fleeting is my life. For what futility you have created all men!
This ties in with the message on standing out from the world. The psalmist seems to be pondering about how fleeting life is. I’ve been really thinking about how short life really is also. Why do I want to be liked or fit in if I don’t truly belong here? This life that I have on earth is nothing compared to the eternity we’re going to spend in heaven. I am not a friend of the world (James 4:4) and I shouldn’t be too comfortable choosing to be “at home in Bablyon” when my real home is in heaven. :))))
Their seems to be two parts to this chapter. (1) David is praising God for his greatness, recalling the lofty promises He has made to him. And (2) David questioning God why he is still in times of trouble.
He ends with this: “Praise be to the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.”
Whether good times or bad I want to praise the Lord as David does. Praise be to the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.
19 Once you spoke in a vision, to your faithful people you said: “I have bestowed strength on a warrior; I have exalted a young man from among the people.
20 I have found David my servant; with my sacred oil I have anointed him.
In the ESV translation of these verses it refers to God choosing David. God chose him as a young man to be the king of his people Israel. A lot of this psalm is about God’s faithfulness to David and his love for him. It was very encouraging to consider this weekend at True North how God chose Peter and I am very thankful that God chose me. Pastor Mike even talked about God’s choosing in the main service! Definitely seemed to be a theme at Compass this weekend!
It is so exciting to see how he has chosen some of you at True North as young men and women that he is raising up to be on his team! I am praying that you all will live with no compromise this week. Let our lives be a declaration of praise to God for choosing us!
I can’t wait til the end of the semester in our study of Peter when we get to this verse:
1 Peter 2:9 – But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Stoked for small groups this week!
Great Comment Steffen!
This psalmist first goes out and sing praises to God. He completely praises Him for who he is, how he is just so awesome in verse 1-18.
I should be like this dude more. I should praise God because he is amazing. I should sing of his great love forever, I should make his faithfulness made known through generations to come. Or I should at least try. This psalmist says that even says that God is more awesome than any one in heaven. He just praise the one and only God. I should do this because God deserves my praise.
Praise be to the Lord forever!
Amen and Amen.
that is also verse 52(:
6 For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD ? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings?
This is so true. There is no one like GOD he is the creator and gives us salvation. I am so thankful that God is so great. I cant wait to be at his feet praising his name MARANATHA!!!
34 I will not violate my covenant or alter what my lips have uttered.
I love this promise because it reflects God’s faithfulness. He will never back out of any promise; he can be relied on forever. This gives us comfort because we trust in him to forgive our sins and grant him eternal life.
So if the faithful God gives us a promise where we get to live forever, a promise that he will always keep, then how should we be living? In complete obedience, that’s how!
48 What man can live and not see death, or save himself from the power of the grave?
This is a great psalm about God’s power and faithfulness to keep His promises. I just thought this verse was a great reminder about why we so desperately need to tell others about Christ! We want a revival on every high school campus this year…not just so more people can join our “church club” and come to campus lunches, but because high schools are filled with real people who will be going to hell if they don’t repent and put their trust in Christ. Let’s open our mouths this week and tell someone about Christ! I’ll be praying for boldness and for revival! More people on God’s team…
11 The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth; you founded the world and all that is in it.
Everything on earth belongs to the LORD. That includes me. I need to act all the time as a slave would. A slave never disobeys his master, and God is my master. I need to obey and follow him 100% of the time!
28 I will maintain my love to him forever, and my covenant with him will never fail.
This is so awesome. The LORD is talking about David, but it is the same for anyone who puts their trust in Him. If I keep my trust in God, I can know that he will never Abandon or forsake me and always love me! He says His covenant with me will never fail. Now that is pretty comforting.
5 The heavens praise your wonders, O LORD, your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.
6 For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD ? Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings?
I love looking up at the stars at night. They remind me how great and amazing God is and how small and unimportant I am. The heavens praise the wonders of God. But then it goes on…if the skys are so beautiful, amazing, complex…how much greater is their Creator!!! So every time you look up, praise God for all He has blessed you with…cuz I know at least I dont desearve it.
A maskil of Ethan the Ezrahite.
I have a question: Does maskil mean song or something?
1 I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.
I LOVE these verses!!!! Pastor Mike talked about God’s love this weekend in the main service. God is faithful to us! He cant take his love away, even though we dont deserve it. He showed love to us by sending his Son to die for us… SINNERS! It doesnt make any sense. The reason God sent his son to die was so display his grace, and for us to worship him! He is so worthy of our praise too!!!!!!
30 “If his sons forsake my law and do not follow my statutes,
31 if they violate my decrees and fail to keep my commands,
32 I will punish their sin with the rod, their iniquity with flogging;
33 but I will not take my love from him, nor will I ever betray my faithfulness.
“…BUT I WILL NOT TAKE MY LOVE FROM HIM, NOR WILL I EVER BETRAY MY FAITHFULNESS.” God is a jealous God. He wants us all to and for Himself. When we pick the world to be our friend and therefore turn our backs on Jesus, or concede to the temptation to refute the servant girl who makes claim in public that we know Jesus, ohhh, He does NOT like it. And He will beat our sins right OUT of us with His rod of discipline. Because He DOES love us, and He IS faithful.
Praise the Lord for loving us so much that He pursues us till we break. May we respond to the pain He built us to sense and feel, in such a way that we run like crazy away from our sin and our love affair with the world, and right into the outstretched arms of our Savior.
God bless your week, everyone. I am very much looking forward to meeting and getting to know everyone at Small Group this week…
1 I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.
This is such an awesome verse. I will rejoice and sing of the Lord’s great, unfailing love FOREVER! With my mouth i will make your faithfulness know throguh all generations. This is saying that we will spread the gospel onto further generations, so that the world is saved. Like bobby has said, we need to stand out and be different at school and we need to be telling people the truth about our God. When he talked about that on Saturday, i thought about it. And it turns out that me and pretty much everyone else does not stand out at school adn we just blend in like everyone else. I personally need to work on that. I need and want to stand out from the crowd. I want people to persecute me for my faith because i hope it will make my relationship with God stronger. I reallyyyyy want to tell people about the truth and the gospel but honestly i am too nervous and self conscious about talking to people about it. But what does that say about who i am and what kind of christian i am? I need to step out of my box and tell the gospel and share the word. I have been praying about this and continue to pray about it. The Lord truly deserves it! If i was chosen by Him, then i should choose too tell more people about HIm adn how great he has made my life!
8 O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
When someone asks this question, I assume that they already know the answer!! But some people dont! Some people believe that God is just a god of many gods and there is nothing special about Him. But there is no one even comparable to God’s status!! The LORD is Almighty and it is proven by just what is around you!!!
MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
51 the taunts with which your enemies have mocked, O LORD, with which they have mocked every step of your anointed one.
52 Praise be to the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.
This verse pretty much lays it out for me that because im a christian and i stand up for God, im going to get mocked! Well just like this guy does, in the end of all of that… i need to praise God!!
52 Praise be to the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.
Before this verse the psalmist is talking about God hiding from him and how the enemies are mocking God’s anointed one, yet the psalmist ends with this verse! How awesome! I think that that attitude is so awesome and its an attitude of the heart that this writer has. Even though its hard when he is writing this, he still praises God!!!! That’s how I need and want to be whenever something goes wrong no matter what it is, I want to always give God the praise forever!
8 O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
No one is like the Lord and that is why His name must be exalted on high. We cannot Ever use His name in vain because He is soooooo powerful and holy that His name should only be used when He is being exalted. I NEED to tell others to not use HIs name in vain because I shouldn’t allow others to disrespect my God that I follow, He is the only true all powerful, all knowing perfect God and He deserves to be treated that way
MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This passage is so awsome!! It just remeinds me of how truly awsome and amazing God is!! There is not one thing that is like Him or can live up to Him!! We need to make sure that we act like that and treet God like what He really is!!!!
David started this chapter with praise, and ended this chapter in praise. He questioned why God wasn’t providing mercy for him quickly against his enemies, but was instead allowing him to endure sufferings. Even though he thought this, he still had a strong desire to praise the Lord. No matter what the circumstances are, good or bad, I need to be praising God. In the sermon this past weekend, we learned that God created us for his praise and that in all things we should be glorifying him. God is a jealous God and he deserves all of our lives and not just parts. This week I’m going to begin each day in prayer, that I would live a life of praise that would come out in my actions, thoughts, and words.
“I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.”
hellooo
1 I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.—Love the chapter(: This reminds me of Pastor Mike’s sermon this weekend. It was about God’s love and how we should reflect it in our lives! I really need to make sure I am speaking and acting with God’s love everyday. I definitely don’t deserve what Jesus did for us and I need to go all out and show people who I’m living for and why. It does not make sense that someone would want to die for such a sinner like me but I know that Jesus’ love is more than I can even imagine!! I am going to be showing a lot more of God’s love in my life!!
both sermons were amazing this weekend!!! exxcittedd for small groups this week!please pray for me im really sick :/
28 I will maintain my love to him forever, and my covenant with him will never fail.
What an awesome truth to see here in this verse! God is talking to his faithful people and reminds them that his love will never fail. Because God’s love is steadfast, I can do nothing to stop receiving God’s love. It’s humbing to remember that I have done nothing to earn this love, and I do nothing to keep this love. I am thankful that God chose to love me according to his purpose and not because of anything I have done. Let’s keep giving God the glory for choosing us!
8 O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
There is no one like our God. He is the living God who was, and is, and is to come. 1 Corinthians 1:9 tells us that, “God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.” He will always be faithful and true; and as believers, we can count on that. How awesome that we are his chosen people, that get to spend eternity praising his holy name! It is so humbling because when you think about it, we did nothing to deserve our salvation, yet by his grace we are saved. Thank you Jesus!
This is an awesome Psalm! The author is holding fast to his theology, praising God for how great he is even though he sees that bad things are happening to Israel and doesn’t know how God is going to keep his promise to David.
This encouraged me that no matter what is happening and if I don’t know how the Lord will work it together, I can’t ever doubt him or accuse him of doing wrong. I want to hold firmly to him by praising him for all of his incredible attributes. Things in life will always be uncertain, but I can always be certain of God and giving him glory.
17 For you are their glory and strength, and by your favor you exalt our horn.
It’s so good to know that as God’s people we are found in Him and don’t have to worry because He will sustain us. Lord, please help me to live in dependence on you, not turning to anything else for things like satisfaction or what not because you have strength to provide everything I need. Please help me also to always be glorying in you above all else, because this relationship with you that you have provided is so much better than anything else, so please help me to truly rejoice and praise you for it.
Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O LORD.
16 They rejoice in your name all day long; they exult in your righteousness.
Anyone who chooses to live for God will have their life blessed by God himself, what an awesome feeling it is to have my life blessed by the God who created everything in existence! This makes me want to praise Him all day
Psalm 89
1 I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.
2 I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.
5 The heavens praise your wonders, O LORD, your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.
8 O LORD God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.
The beginning of this psalm is marked by an offering of praise to God. The psalmist gives praise and Glory to God for His faithfulness 5 times in the psalm. God is perfect in His faithfulness to honor His covenants with His people. His faithfulness is time tested and will never fail. Every day we need to meditate on God’s faithfulness that He has displayed in our individual lives. God’s faithfulness is fully demonstrated in our lives when we are in times of distress or suffering. We can always count on God’s faithfulness but only when we in turn are faithful to Him.
Deut 32:4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
1 I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.
MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!! i can not wait till the day that the Lord comes back, and we are singing praises with him forever!
28 I will maintain my love to him forever, and my covenant with him will never fail.
