Revive Us Again
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah.
85:1 Lord, you were favorable to your land;
you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2 You forgave the iniquity of your people;
you covered all their sin. Selah
3 You withdrew all your wrath;
you turned from your hot anger.
4 Restore us again, O God of our salvation,
and put away your indignation toward us!
5 Will you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger to all generations?
6 Will you not revive us again,
that your people may rejoice in you?
7 Show us your steadfast love, O Lord,
and grant us your salvation.
8 Let me hear what God the Lord will speak,
for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints;
but let them not turn back to folly.
9 Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him,
that glory may dwell in our land.
10 Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs up from the ground,
and righteousness looks down from the sky.
12 Yes, the Lord will give what is good,
and our land will yield its increase.
13 Righteousness will go before him
and make his footsteps a way.
Great Is Your Steadfast Love
A Prayer of David.
86:1 Incline your ear, O Lord, and answer me,
for I am poor and needy.
2 Preserve my life, for I am godly;
save your servant, who trusts in you—you are my God.
3 Be gracious to me, O Lord,
for to you do I cry all the day.
4 Gladden the soul of your servant,
for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
5 For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving,
abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.
6 Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer;
listen to my plea for grace.
7 In the day of my trouble I call upon you,
for you answer me.
8 There is none like you among the gods, O Lord,
nor are there any works like yours.
9 All the nations you have made shall come
and worship before you, O Lord,
and shall glorify your name.
10 For you are great and do wondrous things;
you alone are God.
11 Teach me your way, O Lord,
that I may walk in your truth;
unite my heart to fear your name.
12 I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,
and I will glorify your name forever.
13 For great is your steadfast love toward me;
you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
14 O God, insolent men have risen up against me;
a band of ruthless men seeks my life,
and they do not set you before them.
15 But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.
16 Turn to me and be gracious to me;
give your strength to your servant,
and save the son of your maidservant.
17 Show me a sign of your favor,
that those who hate me may see and be put to shame
because you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me. (ESV)

Psalm 86:
11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
Fearing the Lord is important and I want to seek God’s ways and walk with him, and have no distractions come my way. I have noticed it is also important to check your heart and evaluate where you are! That gives me motivation to want to please and serve the Lord! This year, I want to have complete fear of God and talk to people about the truth! I have the armor of God and am prepared to stand strong for Jesus this year!
11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
When i read this verse i was thinking how the people had God’s law, but the writer of this passage still asks God to teach Him. This is something i need to do before I read God’s word. God is obviously the best Bible teacher and can teach me much greater than i can.
ELLO… I read
I like verse 4,”Restore us again, O God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us.”
I like this verse because it tells how I am supposed to act after I have sinned. I am supposed to call out to GOD for forgiveness which HE will give and pray that HIS displeasure it gone. Sin is a serious offense if we don’t take it seriously we will be doing it far more then we want to be doing.
CYA
9 All the nation you have made will come worship before you O Lord, they will bring glory to your name
Our God is Sovereign and Powerful and its true that one day every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Lets be sharing the Gospel so people have the chance to bring glory to God on this side of eternity. I pray that God will give me boldness to proclaim his word.
Ps 85:15-16 But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. Turn to me and have mercy on me; grant your strength to your servant and save the son of your maidservant.
God is the crutch I need! Without Him I am nothing; with Him I can do all things for His glory! Please, LORD, come soon and fix this place! Until then let me tell everyone about You.
3 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to you all day long.
4 Bring joy to your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
God you have mercy on us and bring joy to us your servants so that we may go out and tell people about you and your good deeds.
15 But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
The whole psalm here of Psalm 86 is David praying to the LORD. After saying that the arrogant are attacking him, that a band of ruthless men want his life, David continues into this verse. He is praising God, for He is a compassionate and gracious God, and He is slow to anger and abounding in love and faithfulness. Even though there were the people threatening to take his life, David is focused on praising God, knowing that He will take care of Him. God first is a compassionate and gracious God. He is compassionate and kind, for God is love, demonstrating the most amazing act of love by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins. He is so gracious, for though there is not one sinner who deserves anything good, yet He blesses everybody. And most of all, His grace is shown in salvation, for no one deserves salvation, yet because of God’s love, He sent His Son to create a way to have salvation. It then says that God is slow to anger. He isn’t quick-tempered, one who can be fired up with anger in a half-second flat, for God is patient and slow to anger, yet He still will unleash His anger on the unrepentant. Lastly, abounding in love and faithfulness. His love has no end; It is also unconditional, meaning no matter what I do, I can still know that God loves me. And His faithfulness abounds, too. Unlike people who will let you down, God will never let you down. He will never let anything happen to His people that is outside of His will. I need to strive for abounding love and faithfulness in my life. I want to love others the way He has loved me. Other people don’t have to love me, but I should still love them regardless. And I want to strive to have that kind of faithfulness that God has. That I am, first of all, always faithful to God, and then that I am faithful to my friends and family.
otay well then these Psalms make me uber thankful that I have salvation…fo sho!!! The first one seems to be praising God for rescuing them from the enemy but continues to ask for God’s mercy and for His anger to turn away from them. The second is a cry from David, also asking God for mercy. Both very much know that God has neverending love and faithfulness; He has a peace that passes understanding….So in times of trouble, praise God, in times of joy praise God….the first one for me is hard to keep. I need to look at the positives more often so that I’m always praisin God. Like Max Hosford always tells me “A glad heart is a good medicine” Proverbs 17:22…and it’s so true!!! And guess who brings a glad heart? God. He’ll always be the one to bring me joy in any situation, I just need to look for it more often. Pray that I may do this please. :)
10 Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven.
This is so poetic. Only four of the fruits of the spirit, and they come alive in this passage.
2 Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you.
3 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to you all day long.
verses 2 and 3 put emphasis on how much we need to trust God, and how much david trusted God. in verse two david asks God to guard his life, because david understands that without the Lord’s grace and mercy, and without His protection, he will die and be afflicted. similarly, if we are not protected by God (whether it be from sin, temptations, or other people) and we dont ask Him to guard our lives, we will be engulfed in sin and fall. another common theme in the psalms in devotion to God. david in verse 2 says that he is devoted to God, and then later asks God to save His servant who trusts in Him. so if we trust in God and are devoted to Him, He will be faithful and draw near to us. in verse 3 david also notices how important the mercies of God are. everytime we sin, we deserve death and hell, He has let us live (which we take for granted all the time). even that is grace and mercy on His part. we need to not take for granted God’s amazing grace and faithful mercy, and give thanks to Him for all that He does for us, whether it be life, blessings, or the gift of salvation. praise the Lord!
15 But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
This verse describes what God is like. He is compassionate and gracious. Instead of giving us what we deserve, He chooses to forgive us. And He gives us what we don’t deserve; He gives us all the good things we have even though we don’t deserve them. He is slow to anger. Boy am I thankful for that! Instead of instantly destroying me the second i disobey Him, He is patient and waits for me to come back to Him. And He’s overflowing with love and faithfulness. God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for pathetic little sinners like me. That shows how much He loves us. And He is faithful. He never breaks any promises. Never has, and never will. His word is final, and He will make sure that it happens. Isn’t God just amazing?
Psalm 85:9 Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land.
This psalm is a prayer for God to renew His mercies to Israel at a time when they are suffering great distress. Verse 9 stood out to me because it points out the truth that those who fear the Lord can be saved. If we do not fear the Lord we are never going to be saved. We must have a high view of God and a low view of ourselves in order to grasp the truth that we are sinners who deserve the wrath of a perfect, holy God. The end of this verse points out that wherever God’s saving power is revealed His glory is revealed. Lord, I pray that Your glory would be revealed throughout the high schools of Orange County as you graciously grab a hold of the students’ hearts and cause them to fear You, turn to You, and trust in You.
Goodmorning . . .
I read . . .
Psalm 85 & 86 . . .
“2. Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you.”
Besides this only verse, the whole chapter of 86 was also like this. In this verse, David is asking that God guard his life since he is a follower of God. He’s crying out to God for His mercy apon him. David’s basically saying, since I’m a Christian, you should protect my LIFE. Save me because I trust in you and spread your good news.
(= God is my LIFE-SAVER & PROTECTOR. =)

Ps. 86:12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.
Praise the LORD for He is good! His name will endure forever and I want to stand firm in His name forever. God is the side I want to be on and I want to be His slave. He is so good to me and gives me so much. Thank you LORD!
***I want to live a life the serves the LORD!!!***
1 Hear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
I love the attitude of dependence that is expressed in this verse. It’s a great thought to think about as we set aside today for prayer here at Compass Bible Church!
We are poor and needy, but we serve a God is good and powerful. More than that, he tells us our prayers make a difference!
Please join us in praying today at CBC! We have 4pm-5pm set aside for True North leaders. Feel free to come join us at church in the main auditorium or pray along at home at http://www.compasschurch.org/live
3 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to you all day long.
I love these Psalms! They are so encouraging and convicting at the same time! Verse 3 of Psalm 86 really stood out to me. The Psalmist is asking God to be gracious to him. God is gracious to him, not because he has done anything to deserve it, but because he is fully dependent on God. The verse before this reads “Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you”. He is crying out for God to save him and give him salvation, not because he has done anything to deserve it, but because he is fully dependent on God. In the same way, I can’t expect my good deeds to save me or to make God protect me from anything. The only way I am accepted by God is when I am accepted by Christ (John 14:6). I need to be crying out to Him all day long, like the Psalmists in Psalms do constantly.
11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
This is my prayer for today. That I would walk in God’s truth with an undivided heart. That I would learn to fear God more and in doing so learn to hate my sin more.
3 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to you all day long.
6 Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to my cry for mercy.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me.
What appropiate verses for today seeing that it is the Compass day of prayer!! These verses really convicted me. I haven’t been praying as much as I used to now that school has started when in reality, i need to be praying more because it has!! There are so many lost students that I could be praying for more often!! Today, I will definitely start my afternoon off in prayer when I get home and check out the live webcast!! :D
6 Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?
7 Show us your unfailing love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation.
Salavation is a God thing, not a man thing. If people are going to be saved, it must come from God. As a Christian, I need to be praying for God’s revival among his people. That means I always need to rely on prayer and not my own efforts. Specifically, I am going to pray for revival among the high school students of OC through the ministry of True North!
17 Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, O LORD, have helped me and comforted me.
This is such a great psalm and verse. This should and will be my prayer. That God will give me a sign of his goodness, so that all of those who persecute me or are nonbelievers, may see the glory of God and repent of their sins. God truly has saved me from so many sins that I would have fallen had it not been him who held me up. Praise the Lord. I pray right now that God would show us a sign of his love and goodness and all may see and repent.
8 Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord; no deeds can compare with yours.
amen to that!there is no other ‘god’ that people claim to to be real that can do the things God does. God created the heavens and the earth. He created people and animals and everything around us. He performed and performs miricles. Like Bens sermon a few weeks ago…there are actual manuscripts that prove the Bible true…was it 5000 plus?thats a lot…more than any other human or book has! God is real and He is everything.
Bobby, your sermon on wednesday night has to be the best sermon i have ever heard in my entire life.It was extremely deep and heart-felt and i loved every moment of listening to it! There is no reason to drop God and follow the worldly things…I have to be sure that i am dropping the worldly things for God so that i FINISH THE RACE STRONGLY!!! God is everything and the least He deserves is my all. Bobby, thankyou for everything you do for me and the students at true north. God spoke through you and it gave me a whole different perspective on things! I am so stoked to get through this life and finish the race so that i can be with my father at my home in heaven! The Lord is ultimatly unique and no other thing can measure up to Him!
MARANATHA!
10 For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.
11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
I love this prayer and I want it to be the prayer of my own heart. I want to have an “undivided” heart towards the Lord; having nothing in this world that will distract me away. What a convicting prayer but one that I want to begin praying daily!
2 You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins. Selah
3 You set aside all your wrath and turned from your fierce anger.
WOW!!!! He forgave my iniquity and has covered my sins! This verse is such a great reminder to be thankful. It is so easy to dwell on things that go wrong but when I read this verse it reminds me that those things are so small compared to the things we can rejoice in that God has done for us.
10 For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.
God is amazing and wonderful and does so many great things for us and has given us so many wonderful things, only things that can truley came from God. Only great things come from God they are always so amazing!!
11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
This is what i want to feel and what i want to be praying and what we all should be praying. We all need to walj in the Truth of his word and live for him we need to do so much than we actually do, and i can admit that i dont always think that way or am perfect but we never are.
2 Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you.
How many of us can truly say that we are 100% devoted to God. Is he our priority in life? Are we doing everything to bring him glory? I want God to always be #1 in my life and I want to trust in his sovereignty at all times. We shouldn’t run to him only when times are hard, that’s not what a relationship is all about. I encourage you guys and gals to be in constant communication with Him and let him know about your day, thank him for the blessings in your life, and praise him for his holiness. What an awesome God we truly do serve. Today my prayer is that I stay focused on God and trust that He has a perfect plan for my life, even if I don’t know what that plan is yet!
5 You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you.
15 But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
God is so forgiving. Even though I mess up, He still forgives me but I shouldn’t take advantage of His forgiveness and keep sinning. I don’t want to break God’s heart. Is this how I treat the one who saved me from my sins?(Romans 6:1-5) Especially when I hear people say God’s going to forgive me anyways. I would get pretty upset if someone wronged me and saying sorry and then doing it again and then apologizing only to repeat it. That’s horrible and not right. I am dead to my sin and a slave to righteousness I am so glad that God is so patient and slow to anger. I am constantly amazed that God is willing to love and forgive a sinner like me. I’m going to pray to keep standing strong in the Lord. He is so full of love and I love how this psalms describes so many of God’s qualities and characteristics that I am going to praise Him for!
Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you.
I like to look at this versus because it can keep yourself accountable. There are times in my life where I feel like I am not fully devoted to God at that moment. But that changes once I get back on track.
We need to be devoted to God 100%, 100% of the time
7 In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me.
Psalms is getting kind of hard to post on for me. It seems that I’ve posted on something like these verses before. GOD is there for us when we get into trouble. He can deliver us from all evil and temptation.
i will talk about psalms 86(:
it is a prayer of David
David starts praying and he ask for God’s help. He is clearly in a time of need. He cries out for God’s mercy to be upon him. He asks for joy. Look at verses 6-7. David says that for God to listen to his cry for mercy, when i am in trouble, i will call out to you because i know you will answer me. wow, how great is that! when you are in trouble, when things hit rock bottom; there will always be a God watching over you to hear your call, and answer it!
But that brings up a good question.
What is David’s cry for mercy, what does he want?
Look at verse 14
The arrogant are attacking me, O God; a band of ruthless men seeks my life— men without regard for you.
That is a serious problem. Men are trying to attack David. They are probaly trying to kill him, but I’m not sure of that. And how does david want God to solve that?
Go to verse 17
Give me a sign of your goodness, that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, for you, O LORD, have helped me and comforted me.
Wow! David doesn’t want god to destroy them, or have them starve to death, or anything like that. Instead he prays for a sign of God’s goodness, so that his enemies might see it and be ashamed that they are messing with a dude on God’s side!
Now lets take a look at psalms 86 one more time
Does it look that David here is having the best time in his life, or he is desperate for God’s comforting hand!
The answer is that David isn’t doing so great here. He needs God’s mercy! It is the day of trouble for him. men are trying to attack him!
But how does he talk to God?
He doesn’t blame God for anything, but instead he rejoices and praises God for who he is! Just take a look at this whole psalme! it is filled with praise!
verses 8-10, 12-13, 15 and more. these verses declare how great God his, and how there is no other like our God.
It is amazing how David still praises god in times of hardship!
To recap:
Point#1: God will always be there for you, even in times of trouble (vs. 7)
Point#2: Pray for Godly character(vs. 17)
Point#3: Praise God always for who he is, the most amazing and only God in this universe, even when times are going bad
(:
11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
The Bible is God’s set of directions for us on how to live a godly life. It is right there in front of us everyday, and that is God’s way of teaching us how he expects us to live. I see the desire of the Psalmist David here, asking God to teach him. David didn’t even have the new testament! We do, and God expects us to live by it. But we cant live by something we dont know, so this verse encourages us all to be in God’s Word studying it so that we may know how to live a life that is glorifying to God. I also like the plea in the second part of this verse, where David is asking God for a heart that is souly focused on God and glorifying him. I need to ask God for a heart that has one desire-to bring God glory and nothing else. I want to fear God like Christa talked about at the sleepover and always be focused on him.
1 Hear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
2 Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you.
Psalm 86 is an awesome description of God and the things he has done. When we think about God’s character, we often miss the implications that it has for us. Like David, when we realize the greatness of God, our reaction needs to be to throw ourselves at His feet. David saw all of his faults compared to God’s perfection and power, and he was overwhelmed by the greatness of God. Yet he knows that God saves those who trust in Him, though they don’t deserve it; so his natural response is to devote himself fully to the Lord, depending on Him with a desperation that is only possible from one who sees God in perspective, as David did here. When I pray, I need this kind of dependence, acknowledging the greatness of the Lord and His saving power, clinging to Him as my hope for salvation, and committing to serving Him in everything, as I ought.
15 But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
He is unfathomable, its great to have a God like Him. He is slow to anger, but when I sin I know he is disappointed, but He loves me and will forever protect me from the flame as long as I stay true to Him.
11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
This is exactly what I want…an undivided heart that follows the Lord and craves Him and His truth more than anything else and all the time. This is my prayer tonight!
3 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to you all day long.
6 Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to my cry for mercy.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me.
I need to call out to God all day everyday I need to be talking with Him all the time. As I am in trouble I shall pray to the Lord for quidance. God will keep me safe and want the best for me.
7 Show us your unfailing love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation.
I love how it uses the word, “unfailing.” God is faithful and loving and never changes. His love never fails. I thank God for showing His unfailing love in my life by sending His Son to die and rise again for my sins! God is so awesome and merciful.
2 You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins. Selah
Praise the Lord for the truth of this verse; through Christ death I am forgiven and all my sins are covered! I no longer need to worrying about the penalty of death I deserve for my sins, because Christ died in my place. As the Psalmist does here, I need to be continually praising God for his mercy and forgiveness.
12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.
Right here in psalm 86 David talks about praising the Lord with all of His heart. I not only pray that I would praise for the Lord with my whole heart but i also pray that I would do everything for the Lord wholeheartedly. I want to do nothing half-heartedly for the Lord ever because I truly love Him and want only to bring Him glory.
2 Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you.
I love this verse. This makes me think am I devoted to God do I trust God? This verse makes me want to strive to be more devoted to God in all I do in sports, actions, and at home.
2 Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you.
Trust in God that He will protect His children. If He makes sure the birds are fed He will make sure you are taken care of. But your trust in God and show your Faith in His Power.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me.
David sets such a geat exaple for us. When he faces trials his first reation is to ask God for help. So should we when we are faced with troubles. Instead I find myself seeking the help of fellow sinners. I need to trust God to aid me because he has promised to be faihful to me. Praise the Lord for all He has done!!!!!
11 “Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.”
Ahhh I LOVE this verse! This is my prayer! I love how so many of these verses are straight forwards with SO much to them! “…. give me an undivided hear, that I may fear your name.” Ah amen![: I pray that I have that undivided heart that fears the Lord!
12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.
This verse goes hand and hand with Pastor Bobby’s message this week.. I need to stand strong in the Lord and glorify him FOREVER. I need to make sure that even when I leave True North, I don’t fall away like the majority, but stay standing strong. It will be so worth it on the day that I am face to face with God, and he says, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” It is so awesome just thinking about this. I am praying that all of us in True North will stay standing and that this will be the best year yet!
MARANTHA!!!!
15 But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
How could we not love God and serve him? This chapter gives us great insight for God’s attributes: his love, faithfulness, compassionate, gracious, strength… He is great and he truly deserves our praise especially because everything around us is created by Him.
Psalm 86:
11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
This is a prayer I need to pray each day. Walking in Gods truth will hop us make the right choices in our life. Having an undivided heart will let us love God without being destracted by worldly things.
Psalm 85
10 Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.
Here in verse ten the psalmist speaks about the four attributes of God. God’s love bestows what is best for His people. His faithfulness guarantees His promise of a Savior in Christ Jesus. God’s righteousness gives us confidence that He will do what is right. Finally, peace will bring everlasting harmony.
11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven.
Faithfulness here in verse eleven could be describing Christ as springing forth from the earth. Righteousness may signify God looking down from heaven orchestrating His perfect will.
12 The LORD will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest.
God will give what is good in Christ Jesus and thru Him will come a great harvest of salvation.
2nd peter 3:13-14 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.
14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him.
11 “Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.”
I need this. I need the Lords ways and teachings. I know fearing God is just to obey his commands. Though sometimes it may seem hard, but if I pray and I willing to give it my all that God will give me the strength to walk in his path. Sometimes I just do sotd. But, I know that it is not the only thing I should read. I do read the bible, but not every day like I know I should be doing. These are the things I will pray for.
10 Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.
My study Bible says that this refers to the mellenial kingdom when Jesus will reign! It is going to be so awesome to live a life on earth that is characterized by love, faithfulness, righteousness, and peace instead of sin and death like it is now. Life is going to be like it is supposed to be, completly ruled by Jesus! Maranatha!!!!!!!!!!!!
15 But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
MMMMhmmmm, this is so true! I am so thankfull for God’s love and compassion for me through Jesus, because of His compassion I am not overwhelmed by my sin! Without our Savior I would be dead in my sin and one day be consumed by God’s wrath. Praise God for sacraficing Himself in love!
WOW! Great psalms! It truly shows how compassionate, forgiving, and merciful our Lord is. 2 You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins. Selah
3 You set aside all your wrath and turned from your fierce anger. God forgave the sins of all of us and covered up our sins. He set aside all of his wrath and anger for us. He is so compassionate and forgiving its ridiculous to think of how much we sin. Sin feels natural to us but when we read verses like these is shows us that we really need to stop sinning and control ourselves and not fall into temptation! 1 Hear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. It is necessary for us to confess to God that we are poor and needy of him and his mercy. Most of the time, we take advantage of the Lord and think, “Oh he will forgive our sins, so why not.” We definitely need to have a different attitude towards that. Like Christa said at Girls Workshop, God is not our big teddy bear! We need to treat him with the respect and reverence he deserves. Because he is a merciful, loving God!
Cant wait for small groups to start!!!! Signed up for Christian club at school today (:
5 You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you.
11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
One thing that really stuck out to me about this chapter is how it shows that one can still know and trust in the love and forgiveness of God and still fear Him. A lot of times a Christian will do one or the other…either say oh God terrifies me there is no way he forgive me for that sin…on the other hand others say oh hey I’m good God will forgive me….the truth is we need to be like….God is all powerful…and “aw” full….. I do not want to sin against him… but still realizing that God is a god that loves, and a God that forgives his people….that is a great relief because if he didn’t love and forgive, we would never have salvation….
These two Psalms are SO great!
11 Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.
13 For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave.
I loveloveloveloveLOVE verse 11. I want to learn what God wants me to do, and I want to do it. I don’t want to be, in any way, distracted or divided from God. And even when I stumble (and I always do, ugh), as verse 13 says, God remains constant, steady, unchangable. He still loves me (craziest thing ever!!!) even though I don’t deserve it at all. He helps me grow more and more like Him through the conviction of the Holy Spirit. He rescued me from the grave that I dug for myself. Ahhh God is so GOOD, and as it says in verse 12, the Christians will get to glorify His name forever!! So excited for that eternity, MARANATHA!
Psalm 85—
The Sons of Korah ask God to restore favor to Israel. They ask in faith and anticipation, trusting that God will save them as he did in the past.
This can be applied to when I sin and confess before God my wrongdoing. I know that if I confess my sins God is faithful and just and will forgive me and purify me from unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
Psalm 86—
David asks for God’s favor in his time of need (not sure what), recalling several divine attributes of God. I’ll list em’:
1. forgiving
2. good
3. abounding in love
4. compassionate
5. gracious
6. slow to anger
7. faithful
8. merciful
God is awesome! He truly deserves praise! I want to conform to the likeness of his ways and stay unpolluted from the world…praise the Lord!
