The Seven Angels with Seven Plagues
15:1 Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and amazing, seven angels with seven plagues, which are the last, for with them the wrath of God is finished.
2 And I saw what appeared to be a sea of glass mingled with fire—and also those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name, standing beside the sea of glass with harps of God in their hands. 3 And they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,
“Great and amazing are your deeds,
O Lord God the Almighty!
Just and true are your ways,
O King of the nations!
4 Who will not fear, O Lord,
and glorify your name?
For you alone are holy.
All nations will come
and worship you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
5 After this I looked, and the sanctuary of the tent of witness in heaven was opened, 6 and out of the sanctuary came the seven angels with the seven plagues, clothed in pure, bright linen, with golden sashes around their chests. 7 And one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God who lives forever and ever, 8 and the sanctuary was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the sanctuary until the seven plagues of the seven angels were finished. (ESV)

3 and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb: “Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages.
4 Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
The rest of the world is about to face some of the worst judgements yet, and even without those, they are cursing God for what He has done to them, not calling His deeds great and marvelous. But those who have died for their faith are in Heaven praising God, because they can see the whole picture. We on earth have a fairly narrow view of things, and those who belong to the world have an even narrower view, for they do not know God. Therefore, it is often hard for us to understand why God does something, or why He allows bad things to happen. This verse should be a reminder to us that God is bigger than us, and He is working everything (even the seemingly bad situations) out for the good of the believers. Secondly, God is good and HIs deeds are marvelous, even as He prepares to pour out 7 more plagues on the earth in His wrath. many people find it hard to believe in a God who is this violent, but God’s holiness – and therefore anger over sin – is a part of His character. Instead of questioning why God would do that, we need to remember that His plans are bigger than ours and that in the end, He is God and we are not. And we can take confidence in that, for while we are flawed and can give in to our anger, we know that God is a just God, who will pay the world back for its sin without misplacing His anger on us.

8And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.
This is an intense moment. The seven plagues are coming to a dramatic conclusion and the seven angels are about to pour out God’s wrath on the world. Now God’s temple fills with smoke because of His sheer awesomeness. No one could go into it untill His wrath had been completed. That is pretty scary. But the scariest part is not the theatrics He puts on for this event, it’s the main event: His wrath. We know God is kind and loving, but He also is a jealous God who hates it when people turn from Him for sin. Unfortunately, He has to punish them because He is just. I can only imagine how badly the people still on earth would suffer from His anger poured upon them. The scary thing is the fact that we ALL deserve this punishment. We all deserve to go to hell. But only because of Christ can we escape the fate of being eternally separated from God. This is why it’s so important to evangelize now vecause we don’t want our friends and family to have to live through this.
8And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.
I completely agree with you Max, great comment! This verse mainly talkes about the wrath of God coming down onto the earth in seven different plagues, but in the verse it also mentions the glory of God. Even though He is allowing/bringing destrution to the world he is justified for His anger and wrath and is still our blameless and perfect God. We have been living in sin for so long and have not been following him so we are the ones to blame for His concequences! “And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power…” I can only try to imagine how powerful and glorious God is! How overwhelming yet exciting to know that one day we can be in His presence worshipping and praising His name forever!
4 Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
This verse caught my attention. People who do not fear the Lord, are going to get judged for it one day. If they choose to fear men and reject the Lord, then they will have to stand before God. But this verse is great! God is holy, and who won’t bring glory to his name and fear him? We need to have the fear of the Lord with us everyday, and when we are evangelizing. We need to have fear of what God thinks of us, rather than what others think, because God is the one who is going to judge! The Lord is amazing, and powerful! He deserves everything! We should be worshiping God every day and live for him and have fear of him and to bring God all the glory, because he deserves nothing less!
4 Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
This gets me so excited. Imagine millions and millions of Christians from every nation ever in time worshipping God together in heaven. What a magnificent sight that will be!! Of course, it is all because God’s righteous acts have been revealed through Jesus Christ in his death and resurrection for us and we have to realize that we should always being fearing God and bringing glory to His name. Let’s rejoice in His holiness and worship Him in appreciation for what He has done and what He has in store for us!
Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
In Rev. 14 the first two words of the eternal gospel are “Fear God.” Here the importance of fearing God is restated. It is in the form of a question, but it is a rhetorical question, “Who will not fear You, O Lord?” This means that every single human being alive during the tribulation and every single human being who has ever lived will come to a place of fearing God. How great it is for those of us now who fear Him and have made Him Lord of our lives. How sad it will be on the day of final judgment for those who realize far to late that fearing God is critically important to salvation.
4Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
This is so true, who can we not fear God with His wrath, how can we even stand up or not even tremble before Him and fall face down, how can we even repay Him for what He has done for us, and like the second part of the verse says that every knee will bow down before the Lord and praise Him, and will give Him the glory He deserves because how awesome and holy He is.
3 and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb: “Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages.
I’ve noticed this them thru Revelation that I really like. It seems in almost every chapter, no matter what is happening on Earth with the tribulation and all, there always seems to be beings in Heaven singing songs of praise and glory to God. God may be pouring out His wrath on the Earth, but those in Heaven realize that God is not a mean or unjust or utterly cruel god. They know that He is Just, True, Marvelous, and they cannot help but fall facedown and worship and sing songs and hymns to Him!

4Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
What really stood out to me from these verses is “Just and true are your ways” and “your righteous acts have been revealed.” So many people don’t think that God’s righteous justice goes with the rest of His character of mercy and loving kindness. But He alone is holy and His justice totally goes with that, reading Revelation has driven that point home to me.
4 Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
I love your comment Brooke! Verse 4 stood out to me too. As christians, we fear God because he hold our fate in his hands. He is all-powerful and ruer over everything. I love how it says that one day all nations will come and worship before you, that is so powerful!!!
3and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb: “Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages.
This verse made think of how often i really do worship Him for what He has done in my life… It reminded me to Praise my Father in heaven more and more no matter what is going on in my day, whether i got an interesting grade on my math quiz (hehe.. i don’t do so well in math!), or whether I just have an average day at school! No matter what we should always be praisin’ Him!! :D
I love everybodys comments!! Well this was an exciting chapter to me! Its very intense and i can feel the tension there. People are waiting for the last of the plagues so they can enter God’s kingdom if they are his people. I cant wait till God comes!!!
Maranatha!!!!!!!!
8And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.
Wow, no one could even enter the temple because of God’s wrath, power, and glory were filling it with smoke. Yet amidst this, like Jacob said, people are still praising God. Even when we can’t understand Him God is good, and we see that evidenced daily in the grace He gives us. So even when trouble is amuck, we need to still praise God because He deserves it. But on top of that we know that He is also working through all things for those who love Him, which is an amazing concept because He is the only one who deserves anything yet He still blesses us. And this is beyond just saving us which we didn’t deserve at all either. There is no denying God is good, so we need to trust Him and seek His glory through all situations because we know He is working through them for His glorious plan even when we can’t see or understand it.
1I saw in heaven another great and marvelous sign: seven angels with the seven last plagues—last, because with them God’s wrath is completed.
wow! God’s wrath is powerful and amazing. He can do anything, and it is clearly shown through Revelation. finnaly with the final seven plagues God wrath’s is done. like God Calls It Love #4, God takes sin VERY seriously, and He is angry when we “make our own fire pits” as Pastor Bobby put it. we should want to run away from our evil desires, because God will judge us, and it will be very unpleasant. In Revelation people are crying out to be killed, but they arent dying. that is how intesnse God’s wrath is, and we should fear it tremendously
Great comments everyone, I enjoyed reading all of them!
4.) Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
Mmmmm…what a great verse! I love it, first off because God is One to be feared and one day everyone will learn that. Secondly because it states God is the ONLY holy being and EVERY nation will come and worship Him and bring glory to His name, like Matt said, this will be such a beautiful sight.
The thing that stood out to me about this passage was that God expends his wrath until it is complete. These are the last 7 angels with the last 7 plagues. Brittany was talking recently to a lady who believed that God is a God only of love and that there is no hell and no judgment and even Hitler would make it to heaven! I have no idea how this lady would respond to a passage like this! This makes it pretty clear that God is a God of wrath and judgment. It makes me fear God even more and want to live for him so that I will not be an object of his judgment.
wow this was an intense chapter! I love everyone’s comments! wow Meisha, there are some interesting people out there though…But just think, They’ll be prais’n His name someday! They will all confess with their tongue that Jesus Christ is Lord! What a marvelous day that is!
4 Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
I was thinking about what Matt R. said, and it will definitly be an exciting day to see everyone responding to His name with worship! I get excited just seeing everyone in church worshipping Him! I can’t wait to see that day come where His name is lifted up high by every nation and tongue! :D
4Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
This chapter is pretty hardcore. In this verse it is great that it shows all of the people who now take the Lord as their Savior rejoicing in his name
4Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
This verse makes me think. What if everyone on this whole earth worshiped God and were being real about it. That would be amazing. It also makes me think of all those people who are out there that have never heard of a God or the gospel and it just goes to show why we need to be evangelizing. Im excited to start going every Saturday!
The chapter has many horrible things and also many glorious things….God’s EXTREME POWER really stands out to me.
7 Then one of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls filled with the wrath of God, who lives for ever and ever.
God lives forever and His wrath is unstoppable. Who can stand up to Him??? This motivates me to obey Him. I dont want to taste His wrath I want to be saved.
When we are saved, what are we saved from? Alot of people will say, “we are saved from the devil!”…….this is completely wrong…….we are saved from GOD! His wrath is coming and we better make sure that we are ready.
Mmmmmmmmmmm! This chapter was so intense! Great comments everyonee!!
This chapter was one of the shortest I have ever read but it was the most intense chapter too..
3and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb: “Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages.

“just and true are your ways” “you alone are holy” “your righteous acts have been revealed”
WOW! take that in for a second.. just and true are his ways.. because He is holy. And his righteous acts have been revealed.. Sooooo amazingg..
Because He is all those things.. we need to make sure we are obeying Him and living for Him! Because like it says and what the whole book has been mostly about.. His wrath is coming!!
Wow, God is so powerful!!! like in revelation 14 in vs 7 it was saying fear god and give him glory…..that is absolutly right we should be fearful of god!! Revelation puts it so clear thats god’s wrath is horrible and hell is not a place you want to be!!
1I saw in heaven another great and marvelous sign: seven angels with the seven last plagues—last, because with them God’s wrath is completed.
i totally agree with cameron….that god takes sin so seriosly and we should be trying to get away from it…..
1I saw in heaven another great and marvelous sign: seven angels with the seven last plagues—last, because with them God’s wrath is completed.
Wow great posts you guys! I totaly agree with Meisha, I was floored by the reality that God is completely letting loose all His wrath on man kind! That is probably the most intense thing that is going to happen on this earth; God punishing sin is going to be so awsome but also sad becasue of the souls lost. This is why evangelism is so important! We need to point others to Christ before the awsome and terrible day of the Lord! MARANTHA!!!
What a short but impactful chapter!!! There were two verses that put me in deep thought and the first verse was verse 1
1I saw in heaven another great and marvelous sign: seven angels with the seven last plagues—last, because with them God’s wrath is completed.
That last phrase “God’s wrath is completed” was the section that really caught my eye. As I read this section, I was thinking to myself, “Finally, the punishment is over and God is reigning now, it is done,” and I had realized I had totally forgot about eternal punishment hell for a second, and it reoccured to me the mission for which I am still alive! God has got His priorities set, that is a promise, but we need to get ours set too! We as Christians need to be praying every single day for SPECIFIC people to come to Christ that we can minister too and disciple them!
And the over verse that stuck out to me was verse 4-
4Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
Again it was just a section that stuck out to me, the phrase, “Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name?” And what came to mind in my head was a picture of everyone bowing on one knee and confessing that Christ is their Lord! What a striking picture we get, and again our goal is for us to spread the message of CHrist so that everyone’s knee is bowing, before it is actually forced to bow(if you know what I mean) so let us pray every day and look for people that are our very friends to witness too.
8 And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power, and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.
The amazing thing is that once the wrath of God is complete we will be able to meet with God just as Adam and Eve did before they ate from the forbidden tree. They could walk and speak freely with Him inside the garden. I can’t wait till the day when I can meet the holy creator of the universe.
4 Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
This is so awesome and i cant wait for this to happen. All nations will come and worship our God. It is so cool. It says who will not fear you and bring glory to your name. It will be so cool when every person will see the truth and fear the lord and give Him glory, yet it is sad that some people will not have repented and this we need to change. This is very encouraging for us to evangelize and bring Gods name glory here on eatrth!!!!!!
4 Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
What a great verse. God is holy. The first line is asking, who won’t fear you, Lord? God is bringing His final wrath upon earth and those who have rejected Him… God is powerful and just and holy and true! We need to praise Him for those attributes of His like in this verse and the previous one. He deserves our praise.
This chapter is a motivation to evangelize to others so the wrath of God won’t fall on them. Great way is to invite someone to small groups!
i liked what everyone had to say about verse 4…
it will be an insane day when all the nations of the world will worship in the righteousness of God… if we do not maintain a high view of God there would be no reason to fear him, but since His Word reveals what God is capable of, we need to fear Him
v.1 “God’s wrath is completed”
It’s interesting to think that after judgement there will be nothing for God to have wrath for. Praise God that we can be safe in the one place where his wrath has already been spent, in Jesus Christ.
It’s encouraging to read these comments at the end of a day.
God’s wrath is obviously a reality we cannot ignore.
And I love to see all of the Maranathas! Amen to that!
