Tell the Coming Generation
A Maskil of Asaph.
78:1 Give ear, O my people, to my teaching;
incline your ears to the words of my mouth!
2 I will open my mouth in a parable;
I will utter dark sayings from of old,
3 things that we have heard and known,
that our fathers have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children,
but tell to the coming generation
the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,
and the wonders that he has done.
5 He established a testimony in Jacob
and appointed a law in Israel,
which he commanded our fathers
to teach to their children,
6 that the next generation might know them,
the children yet unborn,
and arise and tell them to their children,
7 so that they should set their hope in God
and not forget the works of God,
but keep his commandments;
8 and that they should not be like their fathers,
a stubborn and rebellious generation,
a generation whose heart was not steadfast,
whose spirit was not faithful to God.
9 The Ephraimites, armed with the bow,
turned back on the day of battle.
10 They did not keep God’s covenant,
but refused to walk according to his law.
11 They forgot his works
and the wonders that he had shown them.
12 In the sight of their fathers he performed wonders
in the land of Egypt, in the fields of Zoan.
13 He divided the sea and let them pass through it,
and made the waters stand like a heap.
14 In the daytime he led them with a cloud,
and all the night with a fiery light.
15 He split rocks in the wilderness
and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep.
16 He made streams come out of the rock
and caused waters to flow down like rivers.
17 Yet they sinned still more against him,
rebelling against the Most High in the desert.
18 They tested God in their heart
by demanding the food they craved.
19 They spoke against God, saying,
“Can God spread a table in the wilderness?
20 He struck the rock so that water gushed out
and streams overflowed.
Can he also give bread
or provide meat for his people?”
21 Therefore, when the Lord heard, he was full of wrath;
a fire was kindled against Jacob;
his anger rose against Israel,
22 because they did not believe in God
and did not trust his saving power.
23 Yet he commanded the skies above
and opened the doors of heaven,
24 and he rained down on them manna to eat
and gave them the grain of heaven.
25 Man ate of the bread of the angels;
he sent them food in abundance.
26 He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens,
and by his power he led out the south wind;
27 he rained meat on them like dust,
winged birds like the sand of the seas;
28 he let them fall in the midst of their camp,
all around their dwellings.
29 And they ate and were well filled,
for he gave them what they craved.
30 But before they had satisfied their craving,
while the food was still in their mouths,
31 the anger of God rose against them,
and he killed the strongest of them
and laid low the young men of Israel.
32 In spite of all this, they still sinned;
despite his wonders, they did not believe.
33 So he made their days vanish like a breath,
and their years in terror.
34 When he killed them, they sought him;
they repented and sought God earnestly.
35 They remembered that God was their rock,
the Most High God their redeemer.
36 But they flattered him with their mouths;
they lied to him with their tongues.
37 Their heart was not steadfast toward him;
they were not faithful to his covenant.
38 Yet he, being compassionate,
atoned for their iniquity
and did not destroy them;
he restrained his anger often
and did not stir up all his wrath.
39 He remembered that they were but flesh,
a wind that passes and comes not again.
40 How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness
and grieved him in the desert!
41 They tested God again and again
and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42 They did not remember his power
or the day when he redeemed them from the foe,
43 when he performed his signs in Egypt
and his marvels in the fields of Zoan.
44 He turned their rivers to blood,
so that they could not drink of their streams.
45 He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them,
and frogs, which destroyed them.
46 He gave their crops to the destroying locust
and the fruit of their labor to the locust.
47 He destroyed their vines with hail
and their sycamores with frost.
48 He gave over their cattle to the hail
and their flocks to thunderbolts.
49 He let loose on them his burning anger,
wrath, indignation, and distress,
a company of destroying angels.
50 He made a path for his anger;
he did not spare them from death,
but gave their lives over to the plague.
51 He struck down every firstborn in Egypt,
the firstfruits of their strength in the tents of Ham.
52 Then he led out his people like sheep
and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
53 He led them in safety, so that they were not afraid,
but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54 And he brought them to his holy land,
to the mountain which his right hand had won.
55 He drove out nations before them;
he apportioned them for a possession
and settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.
56 Yet they tested and rebelled against the Most High God
and did not keep his testimonies,
57 but turned away and acted treacherously like their fathers;
they twisted like a deceitful bow.
58 For they provoked him to anger with their high places;
they moved him to jealousy with their idols.
59 When God heard, he was full of wrath,
and he utterly rejected Israel.
60 He forsook his dwelling at Shiloh,
the tent where he dwelt among mankind,
61 and delivered his power to captivity,
his glory to the hand of the foe.
62 He gave his people over to the sword
and vented his wrath on his heritage.
63 Fire devoured their young men,
and their young women had no marriage song.
64 Their priests fell by the sword,
and their widows made no lamentation.
65 Then the Lord awoke as from sleep,
like a strong man shouting because of wine.
66 And he put his adversaries to rout;
he put them to everlasting shame.
67 He rejected the tent of Joseph;
he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,
68 but he chose the tribe of Judah,
Mount Zion, which he loves.
69 He built his sanctuary like the high heavens,
like the earth, which he has founded forever.
70 He chose David his servant
and took him from the sheepfolds;
71 from following the nursing ewes he brought him
to shepherd Jacob his people,
Israel his inheritance.
72 With upright heart he shepherded them
and guided them with his skillful hand. (ESV)

37 their hearts were not loyal to him, they were not faithful to his covenant.
38 Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath.
God’s people turned away from Him so many times while being led out of egypt and to the promised land that it almolst hurt to read each new time they epically failed. But despite this, no matter what, God blessed them and forgave them for their ways. And in the end, He kept His promise and led them to the promised land. I have to remember, even when I feel unworthy from failing so many times, that God still loves me and has a plan for my life, and I need to get back up and follow God no matter what.
Ps 78:4 & 7 We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done.
7 Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.
This is what True North is all about: telling others about Jesus. Even though this Psalm is talking to parents and grandparents it’s still a model of the great commission for us to make disciples. Lord, please open doors for us to talk about Jesus today in our families and extended neighborhoods for Your glory! And please, please, PLEASE come soon! I pray that dads would lead the way at Compass and TN students would catch that example and take it to the next generation as well as all the people they come in contact with!
We cry out to God every day to here what he wants us to do and we should all do what he says but most of us get lazy and not do it and go hang-out with friends. Lets live for God every day.
2 In spite of all this, they kept on sinning; in spite of his wonders, they did not believe.
This is a psalm of instruction…a warning for the next generation of Israel not to repeat the sins of its forefathers. As I was reading through Psalm 78 I could not help but think how lame the Israelites were for continually forgetting all of God’s saving acts on their behalf. They have such a short memory. They forgot that he parted the Red Sea to save them from the Egyptians. They forgot that He sent manna from heaven to feed them. After I finished reading the psalm my disgust over Israel’s treatment of God turned to shame on my account. I, too, have times where I forget all the gracious and loving acts that God has done for me. God saved me from eternal separation from Him in hell, changed my heart and my life, and gives me everything I need for life and godliness. Yet, sometimes, when my prayers are not answered in my timing or way, or when a difficult trial is discouraging me, I forget who God is and all that He has done for me. No mater what trial I go through on earth I must remember all that God has done in sending His Son to earth to live the perfect life I could never live and to die the death that I deserved. I must always keep the joy of my salvation and the hope of my secure inheritance in heaven at the forefront of my mind so that I am not like the forgetful, ungrateful Israelites.
17 But they continued to sin against him, rebelling in the desert against the Most High.
this psalm rehearses the history of israel and all of its adventures, starting with the giving of His Law. what really characterizes the israelites is that the Lord does something for them, and then they sin, over and over. but God is always welcoming them to repent and to turn to Him in contrition. while it is easy for us to look at israel and say how ignorant they are, and how they dont believe all His miracles and dont trust His power, we are very similar. i know in my life i still choose sin over God, even though i know it is not pleasing to Him. even though i have all of His promises, and i can trust in them, i still sin. as Christians we need to trust in the promises of God and walk by the Spirit (Galations 5:16). lets make our lives glorifying to God and not like israel, who turned away from Him. lets seek God our whole lives and give Him glory!
38 Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath.
This verse reminded me of a beach night message were pastor Bobby was talking about God not giving us what we deserve. I know that a sinner like me has no right to go into the kingdom of God. What I do deserve is Gods full wrath and anger poured out over me. But God is faithful and just and will forgive us of all our iniquities! God’s mercy is overflowing! We as Christians need to praise God Daily for not destroying us, but instead Forgives us. Praise the Lord!
This is a great Psalm. It’s a reminder of all of the miraculous things God did for the Israelites. This Psalm shows God’s faithfulness, power, and also His anger when His people forget Him and don’t trust Him. I want to always be someone who remembers the goodness, the power, and the sovereignty of God. I want to trust Him and I don’t want to be a complainer like the Israelites were so many times. This is a great Psalm to read as a reminder to myself.
How judging and yet merciful God is!!!!!! I just read this and thought at times, “wow God is scary on how He has brought down His wrath on the Israelites like that, killing thousands upon thousands.” and at other times I thought “God is soooo flippin patient and merciful to the Israelites because if that was me, I would’ve just killed them all by now” I can’t even comprehend how God is both scary and loving….it’s just not for me to even understand. He is what holy is, He’s a perfect mix of everything and it blows my mind!!! This passage just reminded me of how amazing God is….and how others need to hear about it!!! My goal for myself is to evangelize to at least two people tomo at school and share with them the gospel and what life is really all about. :D
37 their hearts were not loyal to him, they were not faithful to his covenant.
I’m asking myself, is my heart really loyal to God? Am I all about serving him? The answer is not always, I need to keep reminding myself that I need to be loyal to God in everything I do.
21 When the LORD heard them, he was very angry; his fire broke out against Jacob, and his wrath rose against Israel,
22 for they did not believe in God or trust in his deliverance.
While the Israelites were in captivity in Egypt, God provided for them. He brought up Moses to lead the people, and He sent down plagues upon Pharaoh and His people. After the final plague, when they were set free, God opened up the waters of the Red Sea so that the Israelites could pass through, but then brought the waters down upon the Egyptians when they came rolling through. And in all of this as the LORD provided, the people did not believe in God or trust in His deliverance. And so God was angered and His wrath came down upon the people of Israel. I don’t want to be like these Israelites; I want to keep my belief strong and my trust steadfast in the LORD, that He is a refuge in times of trouble and my deliverance, even when I have no where else to turn. I can have confidence that God will never leave me to anything that is outside of His will, and for that I never need be afraid.
ELLO… I read
I like verse 2,”I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter hidden things, things from of old-”
I like this verse because it talks about what happens when JESUS came. It says HE would open HIS mouth in parables and that is how JESUS spoke when HE preached so everyone could understand HIM. I like this because it is one of the many predictions of JESUS and it is written way before JESUS was born.
CYA
God is an amazing God who can do ANYTHING at ANYTIME! He is just and also loving. He is GOD and is the ONE and ONLY. He created the earth so He could easily take it away. Pray to the God of the universe. Praise His name and GIVE thanks! He is an awesome God who deserves everything. I love God and will give Him my all! :]
***Praise and give thanks to the His name!***
10 they did not keep God’s covenant and refused to live by his law.
11 They forgot what he had done, the wonders he had shown them.
Yesterday I said that psalms was repetitive. Although I still partly agree with that statement ( The theme of the book is almost always constant) I now through this verse can see that it repeats for a reason. It recounts and praises the LORD’s deeds so that we will not be like the men of Ephraim, and turn away from what he has done. The book has to be long because there is so much that the LORD has done.
12 He did miracles in the sight of their fathers in the land of Egypt, in the region of Zoan.
13 He divided the sea and led them through; he made the water stand firm like a wall.
14 He guided them with the cloud by day and with light from the fire all night.
15 He split the rocks in the desert and gave them water as abundant as the seas;
16 he brought streams out of a rocky crag and made water flow down like rivers.
17 But they continued to sin against him, rebelling in the desert against the Most High.
All of these verses proclaim his power and might. These verses again show us how amazing, powerful, and miraculous he is. Verse 17 really stood out because in the verses above we see how mighty the Lord is but then verse 17 shows that we still sin. We are all sinners but God is so perfect he can not be around sin, but still he loves us. I want to make it my goal to sin less and to praise him for his power and faithfulness.
4 We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done.
This is so similar to what Paul says to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2 says: “and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
10 they did not keep God’s covenant and refused to live by his law.
THis just makes me think about how so many people live today. All the non Christians and halfway in Christians are not keeping Gods word in their hearts. They are living by their laws and their morals. I pray that every day i may keep God’s word, His law, bound to my heart that I may not be like the people in this Psalm who rejected God’s covenant and refused to live by His law.
34 Whenever God slew them, they would seek him; they eagerly turned to him again.
35 They remembered that God was their Rock, that God Most High was their Redeemer.
God loves us too much so He allows us to go through hardships, trials, and troubles so I can turn to seek and trust in Him again. This reminds me of my favorite verse Romans 8:28 where God says that ALL things work together for the good. Not some or a few but all. That’s so comforting to me whenever I face a struggle or a trial that I know God has my back. And then I really remember how God was faithful in the past, that He is my redeemer and my rock.
38 Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath.
Wow! God is good. He is full of so much compassion and mercy. It never ceases to amaze me. Like the Israelite, I can drift from the the Lord. But God still doesn’t give up on me and calls me back to Him.
38 Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath.
I agree with Jasmine! It is so comforting that the Lord does not give up on us! It is so convicting because I sin, yet God still loves me. After everything he has done and went through on the cross, I need to be praising him daily and serving him under all circumstances!
only 19 comments at 2:15??? Let’s post peoples!!
I can’t comment on one or even more of these verses, this psalm is just so full of truth and conviction!! God showed His people what He was capable of, He showed them compassion, gave them teachers, showed them miracles. And still they did not believe. They took advantage of Him and sought Him in time of trouble yet since they had not believed, He was silent to their pleas. Before I was saved I would do this. Yet God would always answer though I did not deserve it. I still do sometimes and I need to be especially careful of that now that school has started. God, help me to always remember you and trust you in everything and not just run to you when things are bad, but always lean on you and never try to take control of my own life.
37 their hearts were not loyal to him, they were not faithful to his covenant.
38 Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath.
This psalm is such a great example of God’s faithfulness and His patience. As others have said here, the Israelites failed so many times and continuously stumbled in their trust for the Lord, but still He was patient with them. He remembered their monumental disability – the fact that they were but flesh. As Matt said, it’s good to remember that even when I feel like a failure, whenever I feel like I’ve done something I can’t possibly be forgiven for, the Lord will not desert me. It’s all about picking yourself up and putting your trust in Him.
i love these verses and god
12 He did miracles in the sight of their fathers in the land of Egypt, in the region of Zoan.
13 He divided the sea and led them through; he made the water stand firm like a wall.
14 He guided them with the cloud by day and with light from the fire all night.
15 He split the rocks in the desert and gave them water as abundant as the seas;
16 he brought streams out of a rocky crag and made water flow down like rivers.
17 But they continued to sin against him, rebelling in the desert against the Most High.
God does such amazing things for us and he is capable of so much. For the Hebrews, he led them out of Egypt, divided the sea, guided them with a cloud/fire, and gave them water in the desert. But still, they sinned against God. Sometimes God reaches out to people and does such amazing things for them, most of the time making himself blatantly obvious to them. But still they continue to deny God, or just flat out refuse to obey Him. When God reaches out to me or directs me in a certain direction in my life, I will make sure to listen to Him and follow where he takes me.
32 In spite of all this, they kept on sinning; in spite of his wonders, they did not believe.
33 So he ended their days in futility and their years in terror.
It is easy to look at the Israelites and condemn them for refusing to turn from their sin after everything that God did for them. Yet we need to make sure that we are not doing the same thing ourselves. God will not tolerate sin forever; eventually. like with the Israelites, He will bring wrath and judgement. I need to make sure that I am not doing anything sinful that will cause me to stray from Him, for 2 reasons: His unfailing love and provision for His children, and the fear of His wrath if I disobey Him.
57 Like their fathers they were disloyal and faithless, as unreliable as a faulty bow.
58 They angered him with their high places; they aroused his jealousy with their idols.
59 When God heard them, he was very angry; he rejected Israel completely.
Wow. I like these verses because it shows how serious God is about us obeying him and following his commands. It really helps put God into perspective. It shows how just and serious He is. He is not just this fluffy santa clause (to paraphrase Christa). I really need to fear God more instead of my relationship being just based on me loving Him. I like verses like this because they help remind me that he is an all-powerful and jealous God. I need to respect and obey Him in everything I do. On the flip side, this passage also shows how forgiving God was becuase he took Isreal back time and time again after they kept sinning and turning their back on God. However, Israel did suffer consequences becuase of their rejection of the Lord. He is a just and powerful God. and I need to always fear Him.
8 They would not be like their forefathers— a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him.
This is what i want to be sure im not doing!!Each day we get closer and closer to the rapture…the end times. As the Bible says, the end times will be full of liars and slander and homosexuals and people who value material things and theives, etc. that describes the world right now!! I know that i want to share the gospel with my children and pray that they would pass it down from generation to generation so that they can be saved, but each year, more evil enters the world, so i need to be sure i am aware of temptation and i need to be loyal to God by obeying all of His commands whole heartidly!
Psalm 78:38 “Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath.”
It is just unbelievable how patient and full of grace God is. We deserve his full wrath, and yet he contains it! I NEED to remember God in everything I do or think. It also makes me incredibly fearful when I do something wrong, and I beg forgiveness and turn away from that sin. We all need to do this and remember how Jesus died for us, because HE is perfect and we don’t deserve to enjoy eternal life with him. Thank Him each day for his sacrifice and his good and perfect will!!!!!!!
Maranatha!!!!!
49 He unleashed against them his hot anger, his wrath, indignation and hostility— a band of destroying angels.
50 He prepared a path for his anger; he did not spare them from death but gave them over to the plague.
This reminds me of Matthew 10:28. Fearing the one who can destroy both soul and body for eternity. Not the one who can just kill you. But, fearing God is obeying him. Not just being scared what he can do. Telling your friends about God is a good thing. Don’t be afraid what they will think of you. This is one of the things melissa and I talked about today. So that later on you will not see them being sent to hell. Everyone should fear God.
65 Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, as a man wakes from the stupor of wine.
66 He beat back his enemies; he put them to everlasting shame.
67 Then he rejected the tents of Joseph, he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim;
68 but he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loved.
These verses really show how merciful the Lord is. Even after the israelites rejected and disobeyed him countless times, he still rescued them in the end. Now THAT is grace! I think it’s amazing how both just and merciful God is… it gives me an amazing sense of awe towards him!
Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.
It’s encouraging to know that God has always fulfilled his promises and always judged sin in the past because we can trust him to continue to work the same way in the future.
32 In spite of all this, they kept on sinning; in spite of his wonders, they did not believe.
How sad is this. God was so faithful yet the Israelites continually disobeyed and turned against him. It’s easy to praise him when everything is going well, but what about the hard times? Do we forget his power and love and begin doubting? God gives us everything we need. And what we need, is to remember this! Don’t forget about the blessings when you’re going through trials. In the end, they only strengthen your relationship with Christ and make you a stronger person.
38 Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath.
It’s amazing how much mercy God gives me. How much he loves me, and what he doesn’t do to me because of that. How even when he’s angry he does not use all of his might to abolish me. What I should be doing more of is praising him more for that. With all of my heart and soul! Praise GOD!
The first couples of verses in this psalm talked about the generations passing down the wonders of God. We need to tell people about the World and start teaching more people about our merciful God. Especially in school, as we start the new school year, i am praying for a revival. I pray that people at Compass and myself that I have the courage to talk about God and if they deny it, that i will not be embaressed and not care what they think.I continually pray that i will stand up for what i believe in and evangelize to others.
In this psalm, it is so sad how faithful and wonderful God was to the israelites, yet they continued to go against Him and sin. In a way, we all do this everyday! I hope and pray that i will try much harder not to sin and that i will obey God and when i go through hard times, that i will fully rely on Him so that it will strengthen my relationship with Him!
1 O my people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth.
We need to listen learn and live in Gods Word everyday. For the Word comes out of His mouth and teaches us. Lord I thank you for giving us the Bible and I pray that I will share God’s Word more.
2 I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter hidden things, things from of old-
3 what we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done.
We will tell the next generation…those are powerful words. The bible was handed down for serveral generations until it finally came to us. Now its our turn. We need to be spending the Good News among our high schools so that we may see a revival here in orange county. Be praying for the SVCS students as we go on our high school retreat. Pray that lives would be changed and that people would be saved. MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
11 They forgot what he had done, the wonders he had shown them.
It’s our job to keep on passing God’s Word onto others. Schools and this world are trying to take God out of so many things now days acting like He isn’t important, but He is the most important thing there is. The more we evangelize the more Gods Word’s gonna get out there. This verse really encourages me to evangelize more and take every single opportunity todo that. We can’t let everyone forget who God is and what He has done.
This Psalm goes over the history of God’s goodness to Israel. The Israelite’s scenario was repetitive: God blessed the them and for a while they followed him until they forgot God’s goodness and later chose rather to sin.
This is what I must do: not forget! Not forget the wonders God has done, the salvation He has provided through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. I must not forget to delight in the Lord looking back at God’s 100% faithfulness and trusting that He will be 100% faithful in the future also. Lord may I remember always that you are good.
7 Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.
I need to learn from these examples and not forget God, turning to idols or whatever and then have God’s wrath on me. Rather, I need to be reminding myself of who God is, totally powerful and better than anything else, so that I would be focused on glorifying Him. I also need to be telling others about God’s greatness so that they too would obey Him and God would be glorified.
heellooo!! glad SOTD is working again!
32 In spite of all this, they kept on sinning; in spite of his wonders, they did not believe.—This chapter is scary and eye-opening! It was so wrong that the Israelites still kept sinning after all of those miracles God showed them! I pray that I wont be like this and that I will always remember of what God has done for me and not just ignore it and go on with my life. God does so many wondeful things for me each day and I do not want to just let them pass and push God off to the side because He is so much more and I dont put Him as #1 likei should. My prayer is that I remember that God loves me and gave His life for me and He should be my number 1 always!
Amazing weekend at CBC!! :D
I don’t know why SOTD was down…but it is good to see it back up!
4 We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done.
I am praying that we will be all about telling the next generation about Christ. I am praying for revival in the high schools of Orange County!
I am psyched about True North United and praying that the revival will start with us as we keep our hearts on fire for Jesus!
Psalm 78
This Psalm is serious in its instruction. The beginning of the psalm starts out with instruction to pay close attention to psalmist teaching. Asaph Commanded Israel to pass down the great deeds of the Lord God to the next generation. They were also told to share the good things that God had done in their own lives as well as the past. This reminder was critically important because their forefathers did not continue to pass down the mighty deeds of God to their next generation. This intern created a perverse generation who worshiped idols and rebelled against God. The church has been watered down so much that people do not feel a need to evangelism or raising their kids in the council of God’s word that we have become a generation of stiff-necked people who are professing Christ but only following Him in the ways that are convenient. As we can see in this psalm the penalty for this type of lawlessness is death and destruction. I pray that we will be faithful and let the world know of the great works of our Lord and Savior. Tell others of the great things that God has done in your life.
1st Cor. 11:23-25 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
