Psalm 77

In the Day of Trouble I Seek the Lord

To the choirmaster: according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph.

77:1 I cry aloud to God,
aloud to God, and he will hear me.
In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord;
in the night my hand is stretched out without wearying;
my soul refuses to be comforted.
When I remember God, I moan;
when I meditate, my spirit faints. Selah

You hold my eyelids open;
I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
I consider the days of old,
the years long ago.
I said, “Let me remember my song in the night;
let me meditate in my heart.”
Then my spirit made a diligent search:
“Will the Lord spurn forever,
and never again be favorable?
Has his steadfast love forever ceased?
Are his promises at an end for all time?
Has God forgotten to be gracious?
Has he in anger shut up his compassion?” Selah

10 Then I said, “I will appeal to this,
to the years of the right hand of the Most High.”

11 I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will remember your wonders of old.
12 I will ponder all your work,
and meditate on your mighty deeds.
13 Your way, O God, is holy.
What god is great like our God?
14 You are the God who works wonders;
you have made known your might among the peoples.
15 You with your arm redeemed your people,
the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah

16 When the waters saw you, O God,
when the waters saw you, they were afraid;
indeed, the deep trembled.
17 The clouds poured out water;
the skies gave forth thunder;
your arrows flashed on every side.
18 The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind;
your lightnings lighted up the world;
the earth trembled and shook.
19 Your way was through the sea,
your path through the great waters;
yet your footprints were unseen.
20 You led your people like a flock
by the hand of Moses and Aaron. (ESV)

    Goodmorning . . .

    I read . . .

    Psalm 77 . . .

    “13. Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?”

    “14. You are the God who preform miracles; you display your power among the peoples.”

    There is no other God equivilant to our God. No other god, has died and ROSE FROM THE DEAD. None. Only our God rose from the dead, Easter, created miracles in front of people, and died on the cross for all of our sins. The first verse is spot on. “WHAT GOD IS SO GREAT AS OUR GOD?” There is no one nor nothing to compare against Him. He is my Heavenly Father, my Creator, and MY SAVIOR. =) Verses 16 – 19 are EXTREMELY powerful also. Not only did He just create me though, but He created ALL OF US AND EVERY SINGLE LIVING THING. A perfect resemblence of His beauty was the —–SPECTACULAR—– sunset last night and the nighty before. They were amazing. As I was looking at them, I was thinking to myself, how amazing that the same God who put the pigment in that sunset. The same God who made and formed the clouds the way they are, MADE ME! There’s no other God who can make such beauty or even close to it.

    13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?

    Nobody is greater than our God. He created the Heavens and the Universe. He created the Earth in only seven days. In seven days we could do nothing that even compares or amounts to that. He saved us from the depths of Hell by sending down His only Son to die on the cross. He also perfect and all knowing. There is for sure nothing greater than our God.

  3. Cameron says:

    11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
    12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.

    it is truly impossible to contemplate all of the good things that the Lord has done for us. there are not enough hours in a day for us to recall all of the grace and mercy that the Lord has shown us. when i think of all the earthly blessing that the Lord has given me, like a house, a great family, and even a great school. it is truly astounding. and when i think further of all the blessing He has given me like salvation and treasures in heaven, i cannot help but worship Him for His goodness. God has promised us so much more than we have on this earth, and if we look back on His grace and how He has shown us favor unending, we will see how faithful to us and how gracious He has been, and we will get a glimpse of how faithful He will be in the future. we need to look ahead and trust in God’s future grace, and be satisfied in Him alone.

  4. Beth Lauder says:

    10 Then I thought, “To this I will appeal: the years of the right hand of the Most High.”
    11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. 12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.

    The first nine verses of this psalm are intense! The psalmist is in deep anguish over his difficult circumstances and God’s faliure to act on His behalf or answer his prayers. Verses 10-12 stood out to me because they are the turn around point in the psalm where the psalmist stops proclaiming his anguish and perplexity over God’s inaction and instead he chooses to call to mind God’s mighty acts and great help to Israel in the past. When I face tough times where it seems like God is distant and my prayers are falling on deaf ears I must remember that God is faithful and that He always hears my prayers. Just because God is slower in answering me than I desire it does not mean that God is absent in my life. I must make the decision to have faith and trust that God is faithful and that He will answer my prayer in His perfect timing and in His perfect way. The best way to combat discouragement or wrong thoughts on God is to read His Word and see what Scripture has to say about God being faithful, omnipresent and sovereign.

  5. Riley Hancock says:

    We need to be living for God to the fullest and pray ever day that we may help other people. God please help me to live like you and talk to others about you.

  6. Zach V says:

    20. You led your people like a flock by the hands of Moses and Aaron.

    This is a great verse on letting God lead you. God has a plan for me that is far greater than my plans and I need to trust in that. Right now I pray to Him everyday for guidance on where I souls go and what should do and this verse encourages me all the more. LORD let me lean not on my own understanding, but follow you.

  7. Ryan Cox says:

    13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?
    14 You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

    While the Bible says there are no other gods who actually exist & have powers, people still believe in & attribute things to pagan “gods.” Even today people don’t like to buy into the traditional God of the Bible, but they like to sound spiritual, so they invent gods like “mother earth,” or even an all-loving, non-judging god who doesn’t care when people sin. What makes God great is His holiness & power. He DOES CARE how we behave & what we believe, & He expects us to respond rightly to his power (& love!). Let’s praise Him for who He is, not for who people want Him to be.

  8. PaYtOn :D says:

    8 Has his unfailing love vanished forever? Has his promise failed for all time?

    NO and NO(to the questions above). God’s love endures forever and His promises never fail. He does not leave us or forsake us.(read Deuteronomy 31:6
    “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” ) God is amazing and all powerful and deserves all of my praise! Thank you Lord for loving me and keeping your promises! I love GOD and will give Him all of my praise! :D

    ***PRAISE THE LORD!!!***

  9. Trembling with fear from the almighty God, B says:

    mmmmmmmmmmmm this is such a great example for me to do when I am down or not having the best day…actually now that I think about it, I should do this everyday! :D Asaph basically is having a horrible day and is just so down about his sin and everything that is going around him is just pulling him down too….but then as I read on, he seemed to remember all the good things that God had done for Him in the past and how God is holy. He’s perfect and He’ll never break His promises like He was worried about just some verses before. He felt alone, like God wasn’t with him and all he had to do was remember who God is and all the blessings that God gave him. wow. That is something I need to remember today as my family is all of my family members are getting sick…(pray for me and my family please!!!)

  10. Brooke Miller says:

    “13. Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?”

    As everyone else mentioned already, there is no one like our God! It is so awesome to picture the Lord and just how powerful he truly is and everything he has done! I am so blessed with all that God has provided me with, and I only want to seek out his will for me and to be obedient to him! God is so holy, there is no being who is perfect as our Lord is. As Ryan said, it is sad how people ignore the fact that there is an almighty God who created absolutely everything. And I know that many highschoolers need to hear the truth and this year is going to be the time of my life where I am going to be bold and fearless to where all I desire to do is talk to people about Christ!!!!!

  11. Jessica K says:

    12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.

    13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?

    It is so important to remember God’s works and miracles. I have witnessed in my own life this past week how merciful God is. He does great things so that I may glorify Him and realize how awesome He is. God is holy. As Christa said last night, we need to fear God. This is true in my life. When I meditate on God’s works it reminds me of how powerful God is. I should think of pleasing Him first before all others and especially before myself. I am here to serve God. He deserves all the glory. No one is as great as our God.

  12. Tanner says:

    ELLO… I read

    I like verse 20,”You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.”

    I like this verse because it talks about how GOD works. Today we don’t have conversations with GOD. We pray and HE answers our prayers but we usually don’t just have a casual conversation with GOD. Today HE leads us by the Bible which is why we should be constantly reading it.

  13. Alyssa K says:

    4 You kept my eyes from closing; I was too troubled to speak.

    5 I thought about the former days, the years of long ago;

    It’s important to look back at what God has done in your life, because it is eye-opening to realize how his plans have unraveled. He amazes me with all that he does. His miracles and his plans that spread throughout the years of my life make me speechless sometimes. He is my strength that keeps me from closing my eyes when they should be open.

    19 Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen.

    Even when things seem impossible, I must always remember that with God, everything is possible. I should always trust in him even when I cannot see the footprints of the path he is taking me down. God always has a plan and a purpose, and because he leads me through such mighty waters, how much more should I then fear him because he made all things bigger than me in this world. I should trust in and fear him.

  14. KJ, keep'n it real! says:

    4 You kept my eyes from closing; I was too troubled to speak.

    I think the begginning four verses is that Asaph is distress about some problem. He needs help, he’s crying out to God. He can’t sleep (I think this is what verse 4 is talking about) “you kept my eyes from closing.” and then he goes on to think of the past, all that God did. Then he asks himself, is God still going to be like that? And he ends of finding that he is and he praises God for how awesome the Lord is!

  15. Shane McCuistion 2010 says:

    12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.

    Part of reading the Bible is also meditating on it. Most people when reading the Bible would just read something, close it, and start playing some video games. Or maybe thats just me. :) Thats why i think SOTD is great because it keeps me focused on what I liked most about the chapter, and I leave a comment on it. And then I usually pray about it after. I used to just read like a chapter from Matthew and then close the book and forget what I totally just read. That is just a waste a time. Meditation is a huge part of Bible reading. So SOTD really holds me accountable to do that.

  16. ۞۞Ŧŗɇɤϕŗ ђɵśᵮɵŗȡ ۞۞ says:

    this is a great chapter, the writer is talking about how he thinks god has turned his back on him but then he tries to remeber all the miricals and good things he had done in the past and that helped him to forget the situation he was in and rely on God again. i need to do this when i am in a hard time, instead of relying on myself to get out of the hard time

    The girls sleepover last night was so amazing! Christa, your sermon was very good and extremely convicting!!!Im so glad i met and spent time with my sisters in Christ:))))

    13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?

    14 You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

    mmmm, YESSSS!!!!OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD…can i get an AMEN!?!?! He has done miraculous things, and He still does. God is so powerful and so holy! There is no god that is as great as our God…infact, there are no other gods! God is the only God and He is the King of Kings! We should be fearing Him completely! Like Christa said last night, we need to be fearing the Lord above all else!
    For the people who werent at the sleepover last night..here are some verses that Christa wrote down for us in our book:
    Job 28:28
    Psalm 96:4
    Psalm 111:110
    Psalm 145:59
    Ecclesiastes 12:13
    Matthew 10:28
    Proverbs 14:27
    Psalm 130:3-4

    As a child of God, i should be fearing the Lord…not like its a bad thing though…its not! God has the power to send me to hell and He has the power to change my life in any way, etc. I need to be fearing God and what He has the power to do and i should be striving each day to live a blameless life. I need to focus more on The Lord, rather than myself and what im doing day to day. I need to spend more time meditating on His commands and planning out how i can change my disobedience, and how i can start looking in the mirror and fixing what is wrong internally…God is the most powerful over everything…I need to fear Him more and more…so this week, i am going to look in the mirror and do a heart check…is my heart in the right place?what can i fix?that is what matters…not materialistic stuff and hair styles and clothing…it should be about God and His love and His judement!!!

    10 Then I thought, “To this I will appeal: the years of the right hand of the Most High.”
    11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.

    This verse rally stood out to me! Before this he talked about his doubts in God and his wonder that the all mighty Lord may have deserted him. But here, here he praises the Lord!! He’s going through such a hard time and he had many doubts in the Lord but in the end…HE GIVES HIM PRAISE!! that is just so exciting to me!! I love the Lord and pray that He will help me through all my hardships and that i will be able to praise Him in those times and thank Him for all the magnifisent MIRACLES that He has done!!

  19. Shelby says:

    13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?

    I love this verse! There is no god like our God. God is so powerful and holy and perfect nothing else could ever compare to him. When I think about that I wonder why it is so easy for me to fall into sin and why I don’t stop the sin or temotation right then and there. Our God is so great and holy and I am so small compared to him. I want to fear the Lord, hate evil, and obey him!

  20. Melissa Cox says:

    11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.

    12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.

    I really liked Beth’s comment. My thinking about these verses was along similar lines. There are times when God seems distant and I have prayers that haven’t yet been answered. I need to think back and remember God’s faithfulness…remember times when God has (in His perfect timing) waited to answer certain prayers. Reading His word helps me to remember His faithfulness as well.

  21. Allie Moorefield(: says:

    13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?
    What a great verse!!! You, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God? THe answer to that is no god because our God is so great and no one can compare to Him. He is so great, merciful, and loving that nobody can even compare. Our God is mighty and cant compare. I think any christian could go on for hours talking about how great out God truly is. I love what shelby said, that when you think of how amazing God is, it makes you wonder how i could fall into sin so easily and why i dont stop because of HIm! I need to fear the Lord and i want to fear the Lord because fearing the Lord keeps us away from sin and helps us to obey Him.
    I had such a great time at the girls sleepover! I Learned so much (:

  22. Mike says:

    13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?

    God is absolutely perfect; there is not even a hint of sin in His presence or character. More than that, he hates sin, and will judge everyone not covered by the blood of HIs Son. This holiness, one of God’s greatest attributes, is something we often hear about and sing about but seldom take the time to reflect on. When we do, though, our response will be the same as that of the psalmist: “What god is so great as our God?” I need to make sure that I am taking time to reflect on the character of God and to praise Him for who He is; it puts my smallness and dependence in perspective and gives me a much greater desire to worship God and do what he commands.

  23. Dominic S says:

    9 Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has he in anger withheld his compassion?” Selah
    10 Then I thought, “To this I will appeal: the years of the right hand of the Most High.”
    11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.

    Wow this chapter is amazing, and I think that it is a perfect guide for someone who is having a bad time. Asaph is saying that he is in pain, that God has forsaken him, and that He has withdrawn his compassion. Then, lightbulb. He remembers that God is an amazing God, who has performed miraculous deeds for us. Asaph says that he will remember the good things God has done, and then continues to praise Him the rest of the chapter. Whenever I have a hard time, its hard for me to praise Him for the blessings I have. But if I do, God will be merciful on me and show me a way out of my bad situation.

  24. hunter 2010 says:

    Ariana, I was admiring the sunset too…it was SO awsome!

    This psalm was really enouraging to me. I am going to look back to God’s past blessings so that, instead of feeling hopeless and lonely, I will rejoice in His goodness and faithfullness. He has saved me from sin and death, I have confidence that He will finish the good work!

  25. Never Take David Personal says:

    13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?

    I just wana look at the first part of this verse for one second…your WAYS are holy…yes…we know that God is holy but his ways?… what God does is holy…what God does is pure…what God does is set apart…what God does is unlike any other…this verse is smack in the center of others talking about his mighty works and miracles…We have heard that God is holy, but this verse shows that holy is much more than just a physical characteristic like “God you are strong” no the things He does, the way He works is holy…

    pt. 2…we read what god is so great as our God….now as we know there is but one God….so we can almost translate this to what is so great as our God…the fact is nothing…but we need to believe in our lives that nothing is as great as God…the holy, perfect, righteous God… God deserves all praise, all worship, all honor, all glory, all power “Amen”…I want to worship Him in all I do…that is why we are here at all…we are to worship him now and for all eternity. God not only deserves praise but He WILL get it….see you all at True North this weekend, lets worship Him together.

  26. Adam Duarte [2010] says:

    11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.

    12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.

    I need to remember to do this more often. It’s a great thing to set apart some time each day to meditate on the Lord, His mercy, His love, His wrath, and what sets us apart from the world – our desire to be Christlike. Meditating on the works and deeds of the Lord I think is a great way for me to remember how He would want me to act. I definitely struggle with this; falling short of how I know I really should be acting in some situations.

  27. Jeremiah James Bradley says:

    Psalm 77:13 “Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?” Our God is so holy and so powerful!!! I cannot even fathom what he has in store for us when we are with him in eternity!! He is so holy, I can’t even say it enough, or even fathom about it!!!! He is mighty and powerful and all knowing!! I love you O Lord and will praise you for all eternity!!!! MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. Murphy Danahy says:

    17 The clouds poured down water, the skies resounded with thunder; your arrows flashed back and forth.
    18 Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind, your lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked.

    Psalms just goes on and on and on. To me it just seems repetitive. It is really just a big book of songs, and it doesn’t seem to make sense that that would be the largest book in the bible. In this verse the writer is reveling at GOD’s power. He is describing GOD’s miracles and their awe. GOD is great. GOD is powerful, Isn’t it nice to be his sons and daughters?

  29. Bryce Nilsson says:

    13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?

    There is no God like our God! God is holy and perfect. His love is unchanging and his mercy is always given to those who seek it. God is so great and mighty! Praise our Holy God!!

  30. jacksondahl says:

    9 Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has he in anger withheld his compassion?” Selah
    10 Then I thought, “To this I will appeal: the years of the right hand of the Most High.”
    11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.

    This is a great verse to think about if I ever find myself feeling “deserted”. Even if God doesn’t seem present at a certain time, I can know he is. I just need to trust that he will always be with me and guide me. I think it’s a great idea to look back and think about all the ways God has blessed you in your life when it feels like he’s not there.. it is so reassuring!

  31. T moore says:

    How LegiT is our God?? He is the most holy and most high!!

    1 I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me.

    Whenever people are in despair, they seek the world to comfort them but there is nothing that can comfort us like God. God’s love and mercy will last forever and nothing this world has to offer can even come close to that. It is easy to praise God when times are God, but not when times are rough. I pray that I could always be praising God no matter the situation, good or bad. MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  32. Eric Walker says:

    To be honest, this entire psalm is the verse I am going to discuss. It is such a legit psalm and I can relate to it sooo much, that I can’t even comment on just one verse. This entire psalm talks about how when God feels far away and like he has left us, he hasn’t. God will never leave us and just like this psalmist did, we need to meditate and fill our minds with the great workings that the Lord did when he once felt so close to us. I can relate soo much to this psalm its crazy. Before, I have felt left and deserted by God but just like this psalm talks about, I need to meditate on all of the good the Lord has done for me and not the bad and realize that God is ALWAYS with us and our salvation is eternal, no one can take that away. This is one of my new favorite psalms and my prayer, that we all would meditate on all of God’s glory and look at what he has done, and not what he hasn’t. PRAISE THE LORD!!

  33. elizabeth holt :D says:

    11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
    12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.
    13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?
    14 You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.
    15 With your mighty arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. Selah

    God is so amazing!! Sometimes I feel as though He is far away and I don’t meditate on His word or I don’t get on SOTD and then He feels even farther. God is so great and has given me so much that I need to always praise HIm for what I have and what HE has given me and not complain or long for things I don’t. But to know He has a plan and it’s working out right now. God is there always if we let Him, and for that I love God sooo much and I want to serve Him now and forever and spread the gospel all over my high school and beyond!! PRAISE TO GOD!!!!!!

  34. Jasmine Douglas says:

    1 I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me.

    God is faithful and he hears our prayers! What a blessing to know that he will always be there for us and always listen when we cry out to him. Praise God for that! I want to bring everything before him, trusting that he will take care of me always, because he will!

  35. Kelsey says:

    14 You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

    I love this verse. I think we often see God as this loving teddy bear. We do not give him the respect he deserves. I know I do not. I see God more as a loving plush God than actuallly fearing Him. Verses like this are important to me becuase they remind me of God’s amazing power. It shows that his power is something to be feared, not something to be ignored.

  36. Morgan Sherman says:

    12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.

    I picked out this verse because of what Bobby said about it tonight before worship. That throughout the day our thoughts should be filled with thoughts of God’s wonderous deeds. This also makes me think about what Bobby said last week in his sermon about praising God by looking at his creation and admiring it. Simply lookiing around and thinking about the beauty of the world gives God glory. I want to make sure that my thoughts are filled with the great things God has done and glorify him for that.

  37. Alison says:

    12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.
    13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?

    Amen to that! This is one of the reasons to read the Bible every day- so we can meditate on how INCREDIBLE our God is! We get so much more knowledge and understanding of him the more time we spend in the Word. Its pretty amazing, what a wonderful God!

  38. Jasmine Wonton 2010 says:

    2 When I was in distress, I sought the Lord; at night I stretched out untiring hands and my soul refused to be comforted.

    I like the psalms a lot. I can relate to so much as the psalmist goes up and down and then realizes later on & turns to God and praises Him. After he grows so much stronger and closer to God. When I’m in distress, I want to seek the Lord as much as I can and rely on Him and not myself.

    14 You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

    God is a god of miracles! It’s so great to see His power and miracles among everyone. Every day is a miracle. Like Bobby said just looking up at the sky proclaims that there is a god and seeing His awesome creation is miraculous. There is no way that could have happened by chance.

  39. Rebekah Foreman says:

    20. You led your people like a flock by the hands of Moses and Aaron.

    God leads us everyday every minute and is always there for us. We are His sheep and He is our shepard. God has a plan for my life and will lead me towards Him.

    This is a great verse. It shows me that I need to read and meditate on Gods word. I love it when I read verses that show me that I could do better in that part of my life. Meditation is one of those things that I just need to sep it up and do it more

  41. katie baxter says:

    13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?

    14 You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.

    These verses are so truee! NO ONE is like God, and no one can do the things he does. He is perfect and holy in every way, and i need to remember to give him praise in everything i do, and give him the glory. Reading these psalms keeps reminding me of what Pastor Bobby said about looking up at the sky, and that alone is proof that God created all of this.

  42. Lauren Goudge says:

    yo!
    11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. 12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.—This encourages me for the times when I’m not having a good day or I am feeling lost and I just need to remember all of the amazing things God has done for me. And I need to praise Him and be thankful! In these times I must just our my heart out to God and think about how much He loves me!!

    Great sermon tonight Pator Ben!! Ready to go out and spread the Revival!
    MARANATHA!!

  43. Mady says:

    13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?

    This is answer to this question is NONE! haha. There is no one, no god, no being that is even close to how great our God is. He is HOLY and deserves all of our praise. It is so awesome to think that the God who created us is completely perfect and holy, and although we are sinners, he cares for us! he loved us by sending Jesus Christ down to die for us! Can you even think of something showing more love?!?! I cant!!! God is great and I need to show him that I think he is great more often! I need to talk to him more in prayer, and I need to be in his word more. Praise God for being great!

  44. austin 2010 says:

    It is funny how what we think to be the perfect heros of the Bible are always crying out to God for help. So here is what I am thinking. If what we think to be the best people of the faith in history are always crying out to God for forgiveness, than why do we always feel like we can do it ourselves. We have to understand that we have to let go of our pride, and understand that we are nothing without God.

  45. 13 Your ways, O God, are holy. What god is so great as our God?

    In the beginning of this Psalm Asaph is discouraged and loosing heart, but he remembers all the amazing things God has done and decides to praise him instead! So many people are living for themselves or for money or happiness or any number of things in this world, but our God is God. No one is like him, he is holy and awesome! I want to live to obey him and glorify his holy name!

    This is a really great chapter! Let’s continue to grow in our walks with the Lord ! =)

  47. Brezzy Bri says:

    4 You kept my eyes from closing; I was too troubled to speak
    12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds
    ——————————————-

    The Lord will keep my eyes open even when I get tired and when it gets too hard and I want to quit, I will keep my eyes on him and His ways.

    That we should always be in The Word all the time and meditate on it and what God is calling us to do and what he says he will do.

  48. Derek Brower 2010 says:

    12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.

    As said before, but its important: we need to do more than just read the Bible! We need to be constantly thinking about scripture and have it on our hearts and minds all day!!!

  49. Pastor Bobby says:

    As we talked about at True North tonight…

    When we feel like God is far away or has forgotten us (verses 7-9)

    We need to remember who God is and what he has done (v10-12)

    This change of mind will come as we go from how we feel to getting into the truth of God’s Word! We must train ourselves to meditate on God as a lifestyle and not just something we check off our list.

    I am praying that I will meditate on God’s word daily – as in all day long!

    Study
    Obey
    Teach
    Daily

  50. josh senger says:

    20 You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron

    i like the middle of this chapter where david is talking about how he looks back and remembers all that God has done, but then when i saw this last verse it kinda took me on a random thought trail about how it says that God used Moses and Aron to lead Gods people. God used two human sinners to do amazing and great things for Christ. this gives me a good reminder that God can use me in so many different ways and it is encouraging that no matter how small i think i am in this world God can still use me in a huge way to serve Him!

  51. Ben Blakey says:

    11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.

    12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.

    It’s cool to think that the miracles we read about in the Bible are meant to encourage and inspire us. When I’m having a bad day or am anxious or afraid, it’s not often that I stop and think about God splitting the Red Sea, but I should! The God who did these miracles is the same God that is with us today.

    That’s awesome.

  52. Dan Blankenship says:

    Psalm 77

    The psalmist here receives great comfort thru difficult times by remembering the great things God has done in the past.

    10 Then I thought, “To this I will appeal: the years of the right hand of the Most High.”
    11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.
    12 I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.

    I am so thankful that our God is not a man made god that has to be reinvented to stand the changing times. Our God the God of the Bible is proven by predictive prophecy not to mention years of scrutiny to try and disprove His Word. We are able to open up the Word of God at any time during our day to seek His council and will for our lives. I hope and pray that the students at True North will never stop seeking the council and wisdom of God’s Holy Scripture. I am so thankful that even when I look back at my own life I can see the mighty works of God’s hand healing my sinful afflictions. Everyone endures troubles and or afflictions but not everyone is able to trust God with their thoughts and fears. Faith comes from a confidence that we are powerless sinful people that need Christ and His Cross. If we don’t trust that His Word and works are truth than we have no faith at all. Why do you believe?

  53. Riley Hancock says:

    1 I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me.

    When we cry out for God he will anwser us but he migh not give us something.
    We should all live for Him beacause you will not be happy when you die or even now.
