Romans 10

10:1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

The Message of Salvation to All

For Moses writes about the righteousness that is based on the law, that the person who does the commandments shall live by them. But the righteousness based on faith says, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down) or “‘Who will descend into the abyss?’” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

18 But I ask, have they not heard? Indeed they have, for

“Their voice has gone out to all the earth,
and their words to the ends of the world.”

19 But I ask, did Israel not understand? First Moses says,

“I will make you jealous of those who are not a nation;
with a foolish nation I will make you angry.”

20 Then Isaiah is so bold as to say,

“I have been found by those who did not seek me;
I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.”

21 But of Israel he says, “All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.” (ESV)

    ELLO… I read

I like verse 1,”Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.”

I like this verse because it talks about what our desire is. The author of Romans says that he desires to see people saved. Paul doesn’t stop there he doesn’t just want people to be saved he goes out and preaches the word to those who haven’t heard. He set an example for us because He followed CHRIST’s example. Paul doesn’t just simply want people to get saved but he goes out and preaches to them and saves far more people then would’ve if he hadn’t done something to save them. I need to work on teaching the GOSPEL to people who need it and not just want them to be saved but I need to go out and preach to them.

  2. [DB] Derek Brower 2010 says:

15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel.

This verse is pretty convicting! If we are called out by the same Lord who gave us eternal life to make disciples, and dont, we are disobeying Him! Its important to always be ready to share our faith with our friends and even people that we don’t know! We should be preparing what we are going to say so that we always have a reason for the hope that we have in Christ! Lets obey what the Lord has commanded us to do! On the day He returns it will be awesome knowing that we lived for Christ and by dying, we are gaining because we are now with Him for eternity!!!!

  3. Wow, I am so pumped for evangelism right now!

10:1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

Mmmm…this is my prayer: that all those around me will be saved! How can my friends know believe unless they have heard? So then, I’ll tell them. God, please start Revival on OC campuses. For your glory!

I have been talking to a friend of mine named Sean and I pray earnestly that he will become a Christian! I want him to be saved and join the body of Christ!

    Revive the world O Lord!

    For your glory!

  4. 10:1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

This verse is so motivating to get out there and share the good news! It all starts somewhere, and that is with me. I want to see people becoming saved this year!!!! A Revival at Aliso would be amazing and I need to be bold and always be in prayer about it. I like what Tanner had to say about how Paul was such a great example! He was not afraid to represent Christ at all, and he still did so when he was in jail! I want to be like Paul and share the Gospel so consistently that I get a detention or something for it haha!

  5. Sτeƒƒen Eriksen says:

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

Paul breaks it down to pretty simple terms here in this part of his letter to the Romans. First, he is saying that people can not call on God if they don’t believe in him. Then, he says that the people can’t believe in him if they have never heard of him. And they can have heard of God if there is no one preaching. And people can’t preach unless they are sent. Paul then quotes Isaiah 52 talking about how beautifeel the feet are of the people who carry the good news. As we see by following the steps, it all begins with being sent. And God has already sent his people. In Matthew 28, we find the Great Commission, Jesus’ command for his disciples to go out into the world and spread the good news, and then baptizing them, and then teaching them all that has been commanded by God.

The next part is the people preaching. Here we find a huge problem in our world today. Many people who even call themselves Christians are not speaking the good news. So many “Christians” are afraid to even tell their closer friends that they call them self a Chrisitan, yet alone tell people whom they hardly know. And it is always so easy to talk about the stupidist things. So many people spend so much time talking about sports and what they’ve done lately. In awkward conversations, it seems that weather is what’s most common. But are any of these topics more important than sharing the gospel?!?! The answer is a definite “NO!”. Those who really are Christians need to get fired up about God and what he has done.

Just like the Campus Lunch this week, if I had a superpower, I know that I wouldn’t go along with my life and never even use it. And so with the gospel, the power of God, I need to live unashamed! On my high school campus, I need to live boldly for Christ! As a Christian, I am one of his ambassadors or representatives here on earth, so I must be reppin’ him well all the time!! (2 Cor. 5:20) I need to be taking the word to the streets and telling people the good news! As I have been sent by God, I must do my part and open up my mouth to tell others about Christ! Everywhere I go, I need to walk with beautiful feet!!!

  6. Stacy Perkins says:

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Not only is it crucial in order for lives to be saved that we share the Gospel and the Word of Christ, but we, OURSELVES, must STAY in His Word DAILY (“Give us, Lord, our DAILY bread.” JESUS is the Bread of Life. Jesus is also the WORD. Our DAILY Word!). Being in His Word INCREASES faith, TOO. God expects that we GROW as Christians. How do I know? Because this verse supports that: if we are in the Word (great start for those who are on SOTD!), and if hearing the Word of Christ yields faith, then our faith GROWS AND MATURES the more we are in the Word! Let’s raise our expectations of ourselves and one another. Let’s bring our expectations up to the level God has for us and through us. And He doesn’t leave us to our own means! The best part is, He gives His born again believers His Holy Spirit, Whose power is endless and can do ANYthing with the tiny, whimpy, junky shells for Him that we are. God is omnipotent. Let’s not forget that. EVER.

  7. Ω Josh Hckett Ω says:

10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

This whole chapter was a total pump up chapter for evangelism and reaching those who are saved so I am pumped for school today and hopefully an open door. Then I got to thinking, wow, that’s what I always think, I’ll wait for an open door. The Lord doesn’t always give you a wide open door with someone virtually screaming at you to go threw the door. Sometimes we have to pull the door open. I know for me that sometimes I don’t see a door if i am in the middle of it, but God is a faithful God and I know that through him I will get the courage to be bold in Him, I can always kick a door down, then technically its open! I am praying after reading this verse that I will have abounding boldness in the faith through God.

12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him.

Mmmm very straight forward verse, I really thought of how people always say, “Life isnt fair” well, sorry but your wrong. I even say that or feel this way in my heart sometimes that something might not be fair. But this verse really hit me hard and reminded me that God is always the same and always shows “no distinction.” Our God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow!

  8. Beth Lauder says:

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?”

Hearing the gospel is part a of salvation, but a proper response to the gospel is part b. A person can not gain salvation merely by hearing the gospel or even being able to repeat that Jesus is the crucified and risen Savior. There must be a transfer of trust and a turning from sin…that’s the right response to the gospel…repentance and faith. This truth is so important for us to get out there. So many people think they have eternal life because they agree with the facts of the gospel. Agreeing with facts does not save us! If there is no action, no changed life after a claimed conversion then the Bible is clear that saving faith is not present. I am inspired today to proclaim a Biblical gospel and share the right response to the gospel with people that I am evangelizing. Obedience to God after a profession of faith is necessary for saving faith!

  9. Dave Hosford, celebrating Christmas and Easter today says:

Ro 10:9-10 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

The free gift of life through Christ by repentance and trust in Him! Thank You GOD! Please come soon and until then be active through me to preach the word with my actions and speech!

  10. LG says:

9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved

These are some of the best words I ever heard in my life. wow this is a good verse to have memorized. I am so glad that I am a follower of Jesus Christ because I repented of my sins and put my faith in him.

  11. Austin Wildman says:

So here is the Romans break down. First the writer defines the gospel and break downs how it happened and
what it really is. Then he describes how it is true and we need to understand the true grace and what God
truely ment by it. Now the writer is telling us how we need to share what we have heard to everyone we know.
For now that we understand what Grace, the good news, and how to teach it we need now to go spread the word
across the land to everyone else. For it says:

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

This is something that really catches my attention and I hope that everyone else will really pnder on this. For
none of us are perfect when it comes to spreading Gods grace and telling of his mercy. We can all get better.

  12. Elise says:

1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

This was a convicting verse for me! A lot of the time when I’m faced with any non-Christian, my focus is on how to prove their philosophy wrong and proclaim that Christianity is the only truth. Though this is important, I need to be doing it in love. My priority should be that they will be saved through a revelation that only God provides. I need to be praying everyday that every non-Christian I know will be saved, not just that I will have the knowledge to prove them wrong.

  13. Ariana & Haley says:

    Good afternoon . . .

    I read . . .

    Romans 10 . . .

“9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

Many people believe that one MUST know “facts” about God, in order to be saved. NO TRUE. You need to know BOTH in your mind & heart things about the Lord. Not only know things about God, you should also confess from both the heart and mind. Confess from your mouth, the goodness and grace that the Lord has given you. Evangelize and tell people that you can spend eternal life with your Creator. Confess in your heart your sins, and ask for forgiveness from the Lord. Realize that it’s a privilege to pray, communicate with the majestic One.

In your heart, do you REALLY believe that God exists with His MIGHTY powers? Like honestly, ask yourself that. Do you trust and believe that He can save anyone He chooses? Do you believe, that He can and HAS created miracles? Verse 10 is saying just that. If you TRULY believe in your heart that Jesus was put on this earth to save, heal, and create miracles, then you need to confess all that with your mouth. Don’t just keep it inside, waiting for people to come to you.

This is the ONLY life that we will live, other than Heaven, so what ARE YOU DOING WITH IT? Are you sharing the Gospel every chance that you get? Are you telling people around you, maybe even your own family, the GREAT news of Jesus? Or are you afraid?

Do you sometimes maybe think, awe, well this isn’t my cup of tea or anything. I’ll wait for them to come to me.

DON’T DO THAT. COME TO THEM! THAT’S WHAT YOU WERE PUT ON THIS EARTH FOR!

    ~ Father, Reign Down~

    Under His pure mercy,

    Ariana & Haley

    Father,

I lift up the people in Haiti Lord. I hope they find missing family members, and that you’d comfort all of them. This is a extraordinarily hard time for them all, but I pray that you’d be by all of their sides. Jesus I also want to lift up my Grandma to you. I pray that she would take it each day at a time and continue to rely on You. No matter what the day is, I ask that she still continues to praise and worship You for taking her husband Home. Lord it’s a time to REJOICE & celebrate. =)

  14. Dan Lauder says:

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

This verse is pretty convicting. If anyone is going to become a Christian they need to hear the gospel from the mouth of someone else. You may have heard of the phrase, “preach the gospel always, and when necessary use words.” While it is true that the way I live my life should line up with the message I preach, I can’t expect anyone to become a Christian by looking at the way I live. I MUST open my mouth, and preach the gospel message any chance I get. My life obviously can’t be a contradiction to the message or nobody would take me seriously. The two must go together. Words + bad lifestyle = hypocrite. No words + good life style = no gospel . Words + good life style = effective gospel that God can use.

  15. Ryan Cox says:

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

As many have already commented on this verse, it deserves the attention. True, we are to be good examples to everyone & anyone we encounter, but we must never rationalize our faith to existing merely as a “good lifestyle,” whatever that is. Even living according to Christ’s commands can be less effective IF we’re not speaking the truth of his Word & Gospel boldly. We have to use words, AND we have to back those words up with authentic, Christ-motivated actions!

  16. Trembling with fear from the almighty God, B says:

I was reading this in tutorial and all I could think about was, “how can IIIII make a difference? Look at all these lost souls, they’re helpless!” There are sooo many kids out there that don’t have salvation, that are at that point where I was, before I was saved. I can make a difference, BUT only through Christ. :) Pray for me and my friend, that he will go to church this weekend (like he said he would) and that he will be saved, that MANY will be saved. May God work in the hearts of many. May there be revival!!!! I’m prayin for that people! awya! :D

  17. Mike says:

21 But of Israel he says, “All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.”

Whenever people feel far from God, the fault is with themselves, not with Him. God has clearly revealed Himself to us through the Scriptures, and when people ignore or reject this they will not have the relationship with God that He desires. Sadly, this doesn’t just apply to nonbelievers, but to those who claim to follow Christ as well. God wants us to be close to Him; He wants us to have an insatiable desire to be with Him, to pray to Him, and to meditate on His Word. But if we are not doing these things, then we will not stay close to HIm for long. Though this chapter is talking about evangelism primarily, it is necessary that once you become a Christian, you stay a Christian. And that will fail if you fall away into the world, replacing satisfaction from Christ with the emptiness found in the world. There is no limit to the things that God is waiting to reveal to me as I grow spiritually through prayer and study of the Scriptures, and so I want to be reading and praying more than ever, so that i will not lose touch with the most important relationship in my life.

  18. j. watkins says:

“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?”

Revolved my campus lunch around this verse!

People are dying everywhere–completely unaware of the truth of Jesus Christ, and are going to hell because no one took the time to convince them that the Gospel is the only way.
We Christians have to be BOLD! We have to be UNASHAMED of the Gospel to get the word out there, so that Christ’s death was not in vain!

  19. 5 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

mhmmm. Oh this is such an awesome verse! I always listen to the song Beautiful feet by Lecrae after this verse. Although the world might view beauty on a shallow, superficial level, God views beauty as those who preach the good news of the gospel. I pray that I can fearlessly and boldly proclaim the gospel as in Ephesians 6:19-20. I am sent on a mission every day to rep the 116!

  20. Murphy Danahy says:

15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

This verse is great because it speaks of the necessity of good biblical teaching. How else is someone to learn the words and commands of GOD but through us, his people? We need to spread the gospel throughout the land.

  21. Jordan McDonald says:

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

These two verses really caused me to think about evangelism. We need to get out there and spread the gospel as much as we can because without us, they might not ever hear about what Christ has done for them. And if they never hear about this, how do we expect Jesus’s name to prosper and spread? This verse really convicted me in regards to evangelism, as i hope it does for everyone that has not always been spreading the gospel everywhere they go.

  22. angela voris says:

13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

this is our job as Christians. Some people have not even heard the gospel, and we need to want to be, spreading the gospel. We have called on the Lord and he has saved ud. But those other millions of people that do not know God, may not have heard the gospel and it is our job to share it with them. We should be running around and spreading the good news of Jesus Christ :)

  23. Riley hancock says:

We need to go out and talk to people about god so that they may get into heaven.

  24. T Moore livin' 116! says:

21 But of Israel he says, “All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.”

This is verse reminds me of before I was a christian and was living to serve the world and please myself. But, like Paul writes for us to do, I heard the gospel being preached at Aliso and it changed me and soon made me realize that I was on a path of destruction going no where in life. I praise God for this gift of salvation He has given me but I also praise him for the people that were so bold to go out and to proclaim the gospel, that Jesus Christ died on that cross to pay for MY sins. This is just a mind blowing thought that someone would actually die for us and our sins when we clearly deserve that death. That act of pure love spurs me on to go and proclaim Christ as my savior and to tell people that they don’t have to live a life of destruction or worry about what will happen when they die but I pray that God will use me and all of His people to spread the word that Jesus has died and rose again, reconciling us with God so we can be with Him in heaven. I also want to pray that, to go along with boldness, but that people would have open hearts and ears to understand and take in what we say to them and also that when we are speaking, God would speak through us. I pray for a REVIVAL throughout all of the OC and the country!! 116!

  25. Allen McAnlis says:

11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

It is so great that we are able to be saved so easily in a way. Jesus took our punishment for us so now we do not have to be in eternal suffering. All we have to do is put our faith and trust in Christ and God will take care of us forever. It is so great to have such an aming and loving God.

  26. Jacob Upton: HE>i says:

10:1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

As christians, we all need to have our priorities straight, with God always first in our lives. I need to make sure that, in everything I do, I am doing it for God, whether I am eating lunch, or out evangelizing. My main motive for everything that I do needs to be that it will be helping in someway, bring someone to Christ, wether my words, or my actions.

  27. Katie Slusher says:

10:1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

WOW! Is this my heart’s desire? Am I fervently praying for the non-believers in my life to be saved? I need to have this attitude everyday! I’m going to start praying for the non-believers in True North everyday to be saved! May this be our heart’s desire!

  28. katie bumpus says:

10:1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

This whole chapter is awesome and talks about sharing the gospel with others. This verse specifically shows how important it is that non-believers are saved and how we should be praying for those we know that need to hear God’s word. We should be doing all that we can to help others and share our faith with them because it is our calling by God to do so.

  29. Jackson Dahl says:

1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

What an awesome prayer! I know that I totally feeling what Bobby talked about in the blog today about this verse. People being saved makes me SO pumped! I can’t wait for Revival to see what God has in store!!

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

Talk about a call to action! If we Christians aren’t out telling both people we do know and don’t know, how are people to hear about the power of the Gospel?? We need to be both living it out and telling everyone we can how awesome the Gospel is. For all the Lord has done for me, I need to be living out 116 completely unashamed of the Gospel. It is too great to not talk about!

    MARANATHA!!!!!

  30. Shane McCuistion 2010 says:

9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved

Well there ya have it non-believers!!!!! This is exactly how you know if you are a disciple of Jesus Christ!!!! You must confess and believe that Jesus is Lord and that he died on the cross for your sins, and then rose from the dead!!! John 3:16 goes along perfectly with that!!!! You must confess your sins to God and ask for forgiveness of your sins by asking for repentance!!!! Now just because you may have done this doesn’t mean you can go off and do whatever it is that you want!!!! Just because you asked for repentance doesn’t mean your off to Heaven and everything is good between you and Jesus Christ!!! NO!!!! You need to live your life for Jesus Christ and start preaching the Gospel to others and telling them about how you got saved and what Christ has done in your life and encourage others to do the same!!!!! If your truly a Christian then when others look at your life, they should be seeing fruit being produced and that your spiritual fervor reflects Christ living inside of you!!!! Lets live hardcore with a soft shell and not live in between that!!!! MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  31. Jasmine Douglas says:

10:1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

Evangelism has been on my heart these past few months and I have been praying intensely for God to be saving lives. I don’t know about you guys, but I want to tell EVERYONE about Christ so that I can one day see them in heaven, praising God with me for eternity!! Heaven and hell is a BIG DEAL. Let’s all start praying daily for God to change hearts and see transformation in people’s lives!

  32. Katie Knudsen says:

“Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”

this is so amazing to me and i feel like God is showing this to me personally in my own life. When you truly put your faith in christ he will not let you down. No this does not mean that you will not have trials or hard times in your life…it simply means god will never let his people (true christians) fall.

  33. Bryan Sonksen says:

    I read…

Verse 1… “Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.”

This is the prayer of my life: because Christ has saved me, I want to be a part of getting others saved and heaven-bound. I am excited opprotunities are numerous for me to evangelize. I have ever Saturday night to, and I am going on a mission trip for the next at least four years for a week to Ecuador, which is so exciting because I can evangelize everyday for five days throughout the trip. Can’t wait to share my faith with others, and for others to repent and put their faith’s in Christ!

  34. AL£C 2010 says:

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ

I really like the truth in this statement.

  35. Zach Vanden Bosch says:

9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Faith is more than belief. If you have faith that a certain racehorse was to win for sure (don’t actually do this it is gambling) than you would put all your money down to win so much more. I know its a horrible example, but putting faith in Christ is putting everything you have in him, your whole life, because you know that you’ll inherit eternal life as a child of God.

  36. trevorhosford says:

10:1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

we need to be praying always that people will be coming to christ, and in order for them to become christians they need to hear the gosple and we need to go out and tell them it

c u all at true north tommorow

  37. Lauren Goudge says:

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”—-These verses are so convicting because I definitely need to be steppin it up on evangelizim! I need to remember that people aren’t just going to already know who God is because if they knew they might be saved! I need to make everything known to others! God has done so many amazing things that need to be heard! He lived and perfectr life and he died for us all even though he know we were going to mess up. He is such a forgiving God and shows mercy and love for us all the time! I know that I can take that for granit sometimes and I shouldn’t! I should be living like I know how much God loves me and I am returning that love. People will not know of the goodness of God unless I share it with them and that is what I need to be doing. I am pretty much showing hate for those that I just sit back and watch them prepare there path to hell-just like Jeremy said in our campus lunch today-and not show love by sharing with them what God wants them to hear! Please pray for me that I can have boldness especially at my school and get the point out there to others!
    MARANATHA!!

    Working Full-Time for the LORD!!

  38. Bobby Blakey says:

This chapter is clear that we need to get the word of Christ out there. How will people believe if they do not hear? How will they have faith if they don’t know the Word of Christ?

This pumps me up for the campus lunches and evangelism nights we are doing at True North. Today people called the church because we talked to them at the Spectrum! Today we preached the gospel at 3 different high schools! Let’s keep being the “beautiful feet” to bring the gospel to those!

And let’s pray for Revival in the OC high schools in 2010!

  39. Nicole Waymire says:

3 For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

This verse hit me so hard! When I read this verse I automatically thought of the people at my school! Ignorant of the righteousness of God…I understand that some of them might not of ever heard of the Gospel or how God IS righteous, but the ones that have/do know are obviously ignoring it! They do not want to submit to authority, not parents, not teachers, and definitely not God. They think they got it, they can handle it, they don’t need ANYONE. They can save themselves, or some even think that they won’t be punshed at all because they are usually “good people.” Usually, as we know, doesn’t come NEAR to cutting it with God. It’s either every second of everyday is perfection, or we’re out…Well we would be out without Jesus Christ. But He loves us so much that He came down for you and for me so that we might live in His righteousness!
    Maranatha!!!!

  40. 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

How do I expect to bring people to Christ and essentially save them from eternal damnation without actually going out and talking to them? Even if its just someone in my class or someone I know, I have to get the Word out there if I want Christ’s ministry to spread! This makes me want to step up my evangelism this coming week for sure.

  41. =) Jeff Modugno 2010 says:

As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

This verse makes me get excited to go and preach the Good news to all people. My prayer is that there will be a revival on all of out schools and that people will be saved because we are preaching the good news.

  42. Austin Jones says:

And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?”
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

These are some of the most crucial verses in my opinion, to come out of Romans. How more clear can this get?! WE MUST LIVE UNASHAMED! It is OUR job to make sure that everyone hears the Gospel and the good news about Christ. If we just hide our salvation and never tell anyone, HOW ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO HEAR ABOUT CHRIST?! I look at is as if the world was going to end tomorrow. If the world ended tomorrow, I would tell as many people about Christ as I possibly could today! I had a girl come to me and ask me why I was so urgent in spreading God’s word. My response was that there may not be a tomorrow! I try to tell people A.S.A.P. so that they can decide for themselves if they want new life. Praise God for the students of O.C. hearing God’s word at the campus lunches! Prayin’ for people to get saved at Revival Winter Edition!!

  43. ErinG says:

    10) for with the heart one believes and is justified and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

I like this verse because it discusses Believing with your heart and talking about him at the same time. When you believe fully in your heart that god is the one and the only One who could have saved us then you know what it’s about :) I know when you put your heart into him you can have no problem talking about him or praising him at all because he is always there for us :)

  44. mady(: says:

10:1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

This verse totally reminds me of Pastor Bobby’s message on fervor!! I am going to lose my fervor for Christ unless I keep sharing it with others! I remember how pumped up and excited I was when I became a Christian at Revival 07. Now that I know the good news, I want others to have it too! I need to get out there, and stop being selfish, and worried about what others would think, and share the gospel so that others may be saved! This should be my hearts desire: to see as many people get saved before Christ’s return as humanly possible!!

  45. Jenna Perry says:

    I like verse 4!

This is a comforting verse for me because it reassures me that Christ will be the end of our lives if we confess our sins and put trust in God!!! This is a great verse to look back on if people at school or just anyone we encounter tries to tell you otherwise. I need to remember that I always have God to rely on and turn to him whether something good or bad happens.

  46. XxGabrielVorisxX 2010 says:

10:1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

There are so many friends that I have that are still not Christians. It brings me grief to know they are all on a path to eternal damnation. I need to be talking to them about the gospel and just in general evangelizing to them more often. I hope that in turn that they will repent and become Christians. I also pray that we would see people get saved at campus lunches this year.

  47. Morgan Shermanator says:

This is such a legit chapter…very convicting! 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

Jeremy talked about this in his awesome campus lunch today. There are soooo many people out there who have never heard the gospel! Things like that break my heart…and Jesus commands us to go out into the world and preach it to them. I feel convicted because I don’t want to regret not sharing my faith! I really need to step it up in my evangelism…especially with my team because I spend so much time with them. Lord help me to be unashamed of the gospel!

  48. P.J. says:

“14How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

These verses get me pumped to go hard for Jesus Christ and his Gospel probably more than any other verses that talk about spreading the Gospel. I still remember back when Ben did a sermon on preaching the Gospel and he said a quote from atheist magician saying how selfish it would be for Christians to know the way to be saved from an eternity in hell, and keep it to themselves. I need to give it all for the Gospel and preach it to anyone without being ashamed! I’ve had some really good conversations when I’ve been out street evangelizing w/TN on the weekends with some of the most shady looking people, and I can turn that around to evangelize to the kids at my school who are extremely worldly and sinful. 116!

    Maranatha!!!!!!!!!!!!

  49. Sarah G.! says:

1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

YESSSSSSS this verse reminds me of my daily prayer for ALISO NIGUEL HIGH SCHOOL!! So many lost people there…can they see God’s truth through me?? Am I representing Christ in EVERYTHING I do?? How am I spreading the gospel this week?? How can I pray for this specific person in my class?? Lord, use me at Aliso Niguel High to spread your gospel clearly and respectfully next week, and open their eyes and ears to what you have to say!! :D

  50. Lexi Mathes says:

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

I wonder how many people at my school alone have not heard about the Gospel and if talking about TN meetings and reading my Bible during school will affect anyone who really hasn’t taken the time to get to know what Christianity is about. Verse 14 automatically made me think of evangelism and disciplship at school and other places where God and spirituality aren’t talked about too often in order for others to be saved.

  51. Austin Payne: Aliso 2010 says:

1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

You know, prayer about Revival is key. And I must confess, the people at my school aren’t exactly high on my prayer list. I don’t approve of anything they do, yet this verse just punches me in the face. My heart’s desire at this point, I cannot lie, is not that the people at my school be saved, nor have I prayed for revival in a while. Lord, make that my heart’s desire. Let my heart want to fufill your will.

  52. Haley Litz says:

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

This reminds me of the campus lunch this week on Romans 1:16!! I have the power of God which is the gospel but am I sharing it with everyone on my campus?? I need to be boldy proclaiming the word of Christ on campus to bring him glory and so others can be saved too!! God saves and I need to make sure I am doing what I have been called to do by spreading his word!!

  53. Alyssa K :) says:

10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Because I believe in the Lord with all my heart and have confessed this, I need to continue proclaiming his glory so that others might do the same. This makes me think of “undercover Christians”–there can be no such thing, otherwise they’re not really Christians. It’s so important to share your faith with others and explain to them the salvation offered through Christ. I will be praying that God uses me to shine as a light and speak to those in the darkness about the truth of the Gospel.

  54. Pastor Ben says:

1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

Where does evangelism start? It starts with a desire to see people saved and prayer. Even as I type this, I can see faces of people that I want to repent and follow Christ, but it is convicting to think how I am not praying as often and earnestly as I should!

One way I specifically want to pray like this over the next few weeks is by praying for Winter Revival! I hope we see people get saved there!

  55. Eric Walker says:

13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

This is a very encouraging verse to me. It really makes me feel an urgency to evangelize because the Lord wants to use us to spread the good news, but we have to be willing. I pray that we I would ALWAYS be willing to serve the Lord no matter how tired I am, there are no excuses. I pray that I would be willing to drop everything and give up everything for the Lord.

  56. Joy Talcott says:

God’s grace in offering salvation is so evident in this chapter. I am so unworthy of His redemption yet, in verse 11 it says that to all who believe, they will not be put to shame. My heart is full of awe at the LORD that He would redeem sinners. Also, I love in verse four how Paul makes it so clear that Christ is the cornerstone of salvation. Christ is the at the center and needs to always be at the center of my heart and life.

  57. Summer Staeb says:

9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Love this verse! Salvation is that simple. What Jesus Christ did for me was truly the best gift I could ever receive. I want other people to know the truth as well so that they can be saved! I need to be speaking up at my high school more about who Jesus really is. People need to hear the truth! I’m praying for God to work in people’s hearts this year and for them to be saved!

  58. Sara L. says:

9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Verses 5-13 are critical verses because it is explicit in saying that salvation is based on faith and NOT works! Verse 9 sums it all up. How can the Catholic Church claim to believe in the Bible while ignoring the most important part of the Gospel? Along with this section of verses (which reminded me of the Catholic Church) and the first section of verses….they convicted me to have more discussions about things like this with my Catholic cousins. I need to make this a huge priority because they aren’t against reading the Bible and looking to see what it has to say or anything! If that isn’t an open door I don’t know what is! I need to walk through that door before it closes!

  59. Zach Senger says:

15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

MMMMM!!! THis is some legit stuff!! We as Christians that preach the gopsel are called here to have ” beautiful feet”. Let us make sure that we are keeping our feet used for things that are furthuring the Kingdom of God!!!!

  60. kelly causky says:

The Lord has given us the forgiveness to be saved and spend eternity with him! That is something we need to remain thankful for and excited about. If we do not talk about the Gospel often or even think about it, then it probably means that we are not as blown away by it as we should be. The Lord, Our God, rose from the dead! And we will too!

  61. Michaela Adler says:

    8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim);
Oh my goodness this verse is just a breath of fresh air to me!!
The word is always with us to use for our own benefit, and for others!
How awesome is it when you can pull out a verse out of nowhere to prove a point about God or share the Gospel with others at anytime?
    Um, VERY!!
When I read this verse, I thought of John 1:1; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
So this verse could also be interpreted as a reminder that you’re never alone, that God will always be with you, no matter what.
And I never get tired of being reminded of that :)

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
    One word. Evangelize.
I love the feeling of talking to my friends about God and they’ll actually talk back to me, not just blow me off.
I feel like God’s really using me in their lives to come closer to Him!
And that’s one of the greatest feelings ever!! :D
Because how can they know right from wrong if no ones going to preach to them?
Plus the feeling of knowing you might’ve just helped save a life is fantastic, and I think everyone can agree with me on that :)

  62. Josh Senger says:

13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
This is an encouraging verse! anyone that calls God their Lord will be saved. there is no special list of rituals that we have to do or keep track of our sins vs. good things we do. it is all about God and what he has done for those of us who repent and have faith in Him. i am so lucky to be saved through Jesus dying on the cross and thank God for sacrificing His son for me

  63. Connor T says:

Good Evening!!! I know i am a little later than normal. I still love to comment though. Well, today I liked verse 11′For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” ‘ I know that I am not ashamed of my LORD GOD THE ALL POWERFUL!! HE is the supreme and I am not ashamed. I will tell everyone that HE is my GOD. But I used to be shy about talking about HIM with my friends who didn’t believe in HIM. Now, thanks to all the support from Spencer and my other fellow Compass attenders who go to school with me, I tell anyone that I am HIS and that I love HIM. Thank you LORD for giving me the confidence in YOU, O LORD. I love YOU.

  64. ELLA says:

15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

So cool, this goes for all the evangelizers. You guys who evangelize are so awesome spreading the word of God.

  65. Mark says:

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

We must know the word of God, to have faith in what it says!!!! Our faith is based upon our knowledge of what we know, because without knowing anything about the Bible, how do we know what to have faith in?? Thats why the Bible is important in our Christian lives and it should be read every day so that we may gain in our understanding of Christ!!!!!

    MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  66. Allie Moorefield (: says:

9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”

AMAZING! This is so assuring and i thank God every single day that i am saved and that i can spend eternity with Him. These are great verses to use when evangelizing to others. It also talks about preaching Gods Word in this chapter and how the message of salvation should be spread to all. I need to act as Gods disciple and go out in the World and tell of Gods great gift of salvation! I should be wanting to share His goodness and tells others about His eternal gift! Because my purpose on earth is to make disciples of all nations!! I am so grateful that i am saved and i consider the day i got saved, the best day i have ever had! I must share my excitement with the rest of the world and proclaim Gods mercy and love!!! (:

  67. Christa Blakey says:

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

How will people be saved if we never tell them about Jesus?! So many people like to say I preach the gospel all the time and when necessary use words. That is great, our actions and lifestyle are essential in putting the gospel on display, but words are required! We should not act like that is a last resort. We should never expect or assume that people will just walk up to us and ask what is different about us, instead proactively looking to have conversations where we are explaining to them the word of Christ. I definitely want the wold to see Christ in me in my actions and attitudes, but my prayer tonight is that I will look for and take any opportunity I have to open my mouth TELL someone about Jesus Christ!

  68. taylor says:

10:1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.
paul is so determined to share Gods word and make sure that everyone is saved. he has so much zeal and excitement for the Lord. it is so encouraging. this verse makes me realize that i need to be on fire for the Lord, sharing the gospel with everyone i come in contact with. i need to be excited about the Lord and not be lazy.

  69. Emily Knudsen says:

11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”

I think that this is a great reminder for me as a christian. When people at school ask me stuff about why im religous or whatever, i need to be ready to give a confident anwser! We ALL need to not be ashambed to be christians. We as christians need to stand out! Even if we get the name Jesus Freak or some other name, you should just be glad and give thanks that you are actually showing that you are a christian. Besides we need to be constantly good examples since people notice us and maybe one day they will look up to us! :)

  70. Hannah says:

Ahh this whole chapter is awesome and SUPER encouraging!!:D
I love how it starts out in v. 1, “Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.” This is my prayer! I love how Paul has one desire and that desire is to spread the word! It’s super encouraging to try to take example of such a Godly man who loves Jesus and wants to walk in His ways!

9 “because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

THIS IS SO IMPORTANT! Great verse!! These passages really encouraged me to share His word!:D

  71. Dan Blankenship says:

    Romans 10

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

This verse is so amazing in its simplicity. We come to faith thru the hearing of the Word. This is a critical factor which the modern church is turning farther and farther away from. The modern church is using mans wisdom and persuasion to try and lead people to faith. We are so fortunate to receive teaching that is purely based on the Word of God. This is why at True North we encourage our students to Read their Bible every day and post on SOTD. If we are not hearing God’s word our faith will not become strengthened.

1st Thessalonians 2:13 13 And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.

14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

We are commissioned to preach to others the Gospel of Christ so that they may hear and believe.

  72. Janiel V says:

10:1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.
2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

I have this friend, hailey, who I started talking to just recently about Jesus. I seriously hope (as stacy said, not cross-your-fingers-hope) she’ll reconsider not liking religon b/c of the social issues thats associated with Christianity right now. I also need to be more open about Jesus; slowly, but surely, like flowers blooming at spring :)

  73. Never Take David Personal says:

1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

Even before we go out and tell people the gospel, we need to pray that people will be saved. Because how can someone believe without God working in their heart….they cant….so if we know that it is God who saves…let us pray that he would save….

  74. Shelby Sawyer says:

Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.

great verse! This should be so important to me! I want to make sure my life is a Godly example! I want to work n sharing the gospel with others

  75. Rebekah Foreman 2010 says:

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Faith is a belief and trusting something I have so much faith in God and its only because they Bible gives me faith and trust that its the truth and God is there for me and pushing me towards Him. We know faith through the Bible listening and hearing Gods Word.
