How scary it is reading here in Revelation 8 about the desolation that will one day be a reality. Sometimes we can read a chapter like this and compartmentalize it into the same category as an improbable Hollywood movie. Unfortunately for those who were not raptured up into Heaven this predictive prophecy will be a sobering reality. With every trumpet that sounds will come more and more death and destruction upon those people who are still on Earth. With this impending reality in mind we as Christians should be thinking more about who we can share the Gospel with than anything else.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first; 17then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

I pray for a Maranatha Mindset everyday that I live and breath here on Earth.

8:1 When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.

So for this verse, Isn’t time in heaven eternal? So there is no 9o’clock or thats what I was taught at previous churches. So then what truly would be the length of ‘about half an hour?’

I have to say reading revelation and all the ‘woes’ has convicted me to want to serve God more and just eveangelize to everyone. Even if it is a dude walking down the street. People need to hear the gospel and I don’t want it to be my fault for not telling some one the gospel. It would be selfish of me to keep it to myself. Pray I will have the boldness to speak in all circumstances. :]

I think I meant “not so much things that I have to do as they are attitudes that come naturally”

I know that if I were in heaven during this time, my thoughts would definitely turn towards the destruction and judgement about to hit the earth. And indeed, the creatures and angels of heaven do talk about these judgements, but they do so by praising God for His holiness and Judgement of wickedness and sin. This chapter gives us a glimpse into how much God HATES sin, and this these Judgments are only the beginning – those on earth have nothing to look forward to except for Hell. This should motivate me to not only evangelize, but examine my own life; do I take my sin as seriously as God does? I need to be ruthless in putting any sin in my life to death, so that with an undivided heart I can give God the praise He deserves!

THe end times is something that i look forward yet dread for the soul’s others. It is so immensley sad that all these people will go to Hell but its all for the glory of God and thats the way it should be so I can’t question His authority. I really just want to be on fire for God an in everything I say I want it to give praise and glory to Him. When my life ends i want to look back and be able to say that my life was one with God’s. This verse is not to be taken lightly and I pray that I can have boldness to warn others of God’s great and terrible wrath! Maranatha and praise to God!

1 Peter 4:7 says, ” The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.”

We need to be thinking seriously about this! We’re gonna talk about this next time in True North!

The second command is “do not be afraid.” We see this command a lot when angels appear and the (wo)men they appear to are frightened. It strikes me as a rather tall order, actually! Especially in light of this passage about what God does to those who do evil (and we have all done evil). Something definitely easier said than done!

So this compels me to do two things: take His commands more seriously and consider His gospel more precious. Those two things are so much things that I have to do as things that come naturally out of an understanding of this intense passage. I pray that God would continue to work the responses in me.

Wow! Trying to fathom this is crazy. It makes me so thankful for the cross and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ to redeem me. If I ever doubted how powerful God is, this chapter shows how dominant He is and how wrong my doubts are. Like the last chapter said, all glory and honor at given to Him. Praying for Easter at the Bren, that some who came to the Bren Center would become Christians and be saved from God’s wrath!

Wow, this entire chapter describes the terrible things that are going to happen to the people that are still on earth at this time. This really encourages me to want to evangelize to every last person I possibly can, so that they might not endure this, and even worse, eternal punishment in hell. To think that God could use something I might say to plant a seed to save them later in their life is an awesome thought! There is no limit to the amazing things God can do, and I want to seriously spread the word about the good news of the gospel. This is such a great time right now as Easter is coming soon and I can so easily invite people to Easter at the Bren! I pray that the Lord will give me boldness in talking to as many people as I can, that his will may be done!

Reading through the beginings of this chapter, I am finding out just how insane the end of the world is going to be! the unbelivers and those who have denied God will be punished sooo insanely bad! But, this verse shows that the worst is yet to come in this chapter! As if burning mountains, and falling asteroids, and poisoned water, and earthquakes are not enough, God still has more wrath in store for the people on Earth, and I have never been so thankful for the salvation of Jesus Christ and his death on the cross!!!!

We always watch these post-modern/futuristic disaster movies about the world ending and getting old, broken, burned, destroyed, etc. There are movies like: I Am legend, Day After Tommorrow, 2012, Omega Man, Armagedon, Knowing, Book of Eli, Last Man on Earth, etc….the list goes on. Basically, in all these movies, the world is getting destroyed. We try to imagine everything that Revelation says…and there is still no way of getting even a taste of it. The scale of what God is going to do on this earth cannot be imagined or portrayed in any movie. Its going to be terrible for anyone who has to endure it. God is destroying the trees, the grass, creatures, water, etc. Every single thing that could possibly bring a little bit of happiness to a person, will vanish. I definitely do NOT want to be here when God judges the world like this!

13 Then I looked, and I heard an eagle crying with a loud voice as it flew directly overhead, “Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, at the blasts of the other trumpets that the three angels are about to blow!”

There will be nothing but suffering for those who dwell on the earth. Thank you God for saving me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As i was reading the first four things that are going to happen at the blowing of the first rumpets it made me thing of how thankful I am to God for my salvation. I owe everything to Him who took away my sins and gave me a perfect life instead. I am so glad that I do not have to suffer through the wrath of God. Wow! God’s judgment is crazy scary! There is judgment because we sin. If there was no sin there would be no judgment. God is a holy God and cannot tolerate sin. In the end he is going to judge the whole earth! When the angels blow the trumpets 1/3 of the vegetation is destroyed, then 1/3 of the sea animals. 1/3 is a lot!!! It is scary knowing what is in store for the earth but again, it incentivizes me to evangelize more and make sure that everyone I know is ready to meet their maker.

Reading this verse, thinking about how scary this is and about the people that will have to go through just makes me feel sad for them. Like my bro Murphy said, this just really encourages me to want to go out and tell the whole world that there God has provided us a way out. I know that I need to be speaking more to people, especially people at school and I becoming more bold through God’s spirit but I can still do more. I pray that God will use me to show his glory to others and also that people will go to the campus lunches this week to hear the gospel.

As it has been said, this chapter is super intense. It really makes us see how much God hates sin. These are the final days when God finally unleashes the wrath on which he has subdued for so long. It is so important to keep revelation as one of our top reads to remind us of what is to come so that we do not get complacent here on earth. The world is going to burn and people are going to die and that is the truth. As a christian I pray that my heart will be moved to share the truth with everyone no matter if I think they are saved or not because it is the most scary for those who think they are saved and in the end will burned up just as the earth is.
It makes Easter at the Bren even that much more important
I pray that the gospel would go out this weekend in a way that many who have heard portions of the truth would hear it clearly and understand for the first time. And many would be added on this celebrated Easter weekend.

This chapter reveals such intense punishments on the earth for the people remaining or left behind after the Rapture. God is all powerful, and even when we think we can comprehend a fraction of his might, what he can do in reality is far beyond what we can imagine. Those here on earth that don’t know Christ or choose not to follow him will have to bow down to him eventually…I want to share the reality of the future Rapture and upcoming events of this chapter with those who don’t know. God is loving, yet also the first and foremost we should fear. After reading this I definitely can say I fear him, and am honored to serve him.

Wow, this chapter is so intense and fascinating! This time in Revelation will be very scary. I need to share this “woe” to others because Jesus could come back at any time. I need to be ready for His return at all times. I am so thankful for everything God has blessed me with and would not want any of my friends or non-Christians I know to suffer the destruction brought by the seven trumpets. This chapter encourages me to share my faith:)

this reminds me of tht passage in exodus when the israelites went aruond Jericho for 6 days, and on the 7th day they bursted forth a great sound from their trumpets and screams and brought down the walls of the city. during those 6 days, the inhabitants were all like, “those wierdos…its not like what their doing can affect us at all” or something in that manner, but in the end not one survived b/c God was with the Israelites.
I wonder if the world is like Jericho, cuz all they want to do is have fun and they cant believe God b/c it just too unbelievable. I pray that I dont end up tricking myself and that God’s light shines clearly in me forevermore.

7 The first angel blew his trumpet, and there followed hail and fire, mixed with blood, and these were thrown upon the earth. And a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.

its going to happen one day..and thats why we are here to talk bout Jesus Christ to people so they can get saved.

Wow, this is an intense chapter! God is pouring out His wrath and people are beyond suffering. This makes me think if its really worth it to live in the world and to enjoy its temporal pleasures. This is a good motivater to stay on the narrow path or else we will be punished by God, and looking at this chapter, God’s punishment’s are way worse than any punishment I’ve experienced or ever will experience. It also makes me want to be a witness and to evangelize because the end is near and this is a reality.

A third of the earth being burnt up! WOW! That’s a big fire! It’s a big deal here in So Cal when thousands of acres are on fire…imagine a third of the earth! Just reading about one of these trumpets makes me think about all the unsaved people in my life! Not only will they face the judgment of these trumpets (and even the first one is intense), but they will face an eternity in the lake of fire. This is something that I too often forget. These people here are destined for this destruction and I know what could save them. I pray that I am faithful to share with them before its too late. I pray that I remember their fate and live with urgency to share the truth!

THis chapter was so insane!!! The wrath of God being poured out is going to be such a scary thing!!! This verse to me was just so scary!! We think that it is horrible when we have a fire that burns like 1,000 acres of land!! But this will burn 1/3 of the earth!!! And we also see the intensity of this fire!! It will even burn the green grass!! That is one hot and scary fire!!!

It is scary to think about what is going to happen in the future which pumps me up for evangelizing to others. I definitely don’t want people I know and love to be suffering this and hell is so much worse. I am praying that many people who come to Easter at the Bren and become saved.

So far this is what has happened to the earth:
1) Hail and fire mixed with blood has been thrown on the earth, and 1/3 of the earth, trees, and grass was burned up.
2) A huge burning mountain type thing was thrown into the sea, turning it to blood and killing 1/3 of the animals and destroying 1/3 of the ships.
3) A star, named Wormwood, fell from heaven on fire, and landed on a third of the rivers, lakes, etc. The star turned the water into wormwood and killed most of the people.
4) a 1/3 of the sun, moon, stars, and any other lights in the sky were destroyed cutting out most of the light in the sky for everyone!!

This stuff that is happening is SCARY!! People are dying, and the earth is being completely destroyed. It is going to be a very frightening thing to be under the wrath of our God! I am so glad that Christ has saved me through the cross and I wont have to experience any of his wrath! Thank you Jesus<3

This is an intense chapter. It got me thinking of at time that God sent the plagues to Egypt. When this happens I think it will be worse then the plagues fell on Egypt. I love how God shows us how powerful he is and how he deserves our praise. Also if you are not on God’s team then you will loose in the end. All will bow down to God one day.

This chapter was full of the wonders and power of God. His wrath was poured out upon the earth. This chapter should cause us to fear God and sin less. I pray that the fear of the Lord may fill my heart and that I may be more wise in my choices when tempted.

This is so intense! If I were not a Christian and I had to go through this suffering, it would be terrible. Then after that be sent to hell, which is 10000x worse. Ive been in a sorta bad mood today, but to know that I get to overlook everything that should happen to me, not happen, I can help but rejoice! God is soo so so so amazing to let us never have to go through that horrid discription of what will happen to the Earth, Jesus deserves all my praise!

Its odd to think that this place that we call home be destroyed, well of cource not our true home, but our temporary home. Its weird to think that God will destroy His own creation, but its been corrupted. Its amazing to think that we finally get to live in a perfect world, with no sin at all, for eternity. It seems so long, and far from now, but it truely isnt. Yesterday I was watching I shouldnt be alive and this one episode their friend died at age 15 while on a hike in the Grand Canyon. They were from Utah, so more than likely they were morman, which means that boy is suffering in hell right now. Its my responsibility that the people I encounter with, know the word of God. Death is coming so quickly, time is literally running out second by second. I HAVE to get out their and tell everyone.

what an intense chapter!!! This gives such a good visual of whats to come. I could not imagine living to see all of this happen and I’m so thankful that I don’t have to!! My first immediate thought was, “wow, I don’t want anyone to experience this!” I need to get out there and preach it! God’s given me lots of opportunities to share a bit of my testimony out here in Chicago and he is so faithful! Let’s keep shining every single day!! I want to live as if today WERE my last day here on Earth. That changes my perspectives on everything.

W.O.W. is all i can really say. To think of the things happening like a mountain on fire being thrown in the sea, and the sea turning to blood is just breath taking. Im so grateful to be a christian and not have to suffer. But it saddens my heart to know so many people who are going to have to experience all of this, and worse live in hell for eternity. A lot of people such as scientist dont believe such crazy things could happen. But if you think about it, these are far less crazy than Jesus coming back to life. I mean it seems to unreal. But it truly just shows the awesome wonder of God, and the great miracles He does. :D

After four angels blwe their trumpets and all of this crazy stuff happened to the earth, an eagle warns that there is still more! All these people and animals are going to die from these first four and yet there is still more destruction to happen. We need to praise the LORD that He has allowed us time to be saved. We must also hurry to spread the gospel to all that we can before the time runs out. This is some scary stuff and I most certainly would not want me or any of my friends to experience it.

This chapter sounds pretty destructive! But it has to be though, because this Earth is going away and slowly decaying. That really does not sound fun, or even bearable! I cannot imagine water becoming bitter, or blood everywhere, or even one third of the natural light for this Earth being destroyed! That sounds even more terrrible to experience. But, the next three things that are going to come won’t compare to those things according to verse 13. That sounds reeeaaaallllly horrible! I just need to be thankful that God has allowed me to not expereince that, and has given me another day to live here so I can warn others about it too!

This scary image gives me a definate motivation to try to get as many people as posible away from having to suffer this wrath.

Reading this chapter was really eye opening and scary. I loved being able to read what everyone else was saying and being able to understand it better through that! Wow how scary to think about people that I know and love that will have to endure Gods wrath!! This magnifies how important it is to get out and share the truth with people. It is so sad how this world is so selfish. I hate thinking about when I sin it is out of my selfishness and just thinking about what is pleasing to me. Gos hates sin and punishment is on its way and I need to be a light to others by always watching my attitude and actions.

WOW! God’s wrath is truly massive and incomprehensible! He HATES sin, and he shows it by how he punishes the earth for it! All of the terrible things that happen during the first trumpets apparently don’t compare much to the next three, according to the eagle! This makes me so thankful for my salvation in Jesus Christ! I don’t have to endure this at all, though I deserve to! This makes me, like others have said, more eager to evangelize to others and show them how serious God is about punishing sin!

I was just looking up Wormwood. Wormwood is 4 times bigger than the earth. I wonder if this star or some call it a comment, will throw the earth off of it’s orbit. This verse actually makes it clear like it’s a comet because it says “a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch.” Most stars are actually bigger than the earth, they just seem small because of how many million miles away they are and some of the stars have low magnitude. I like the whole chapter because it talks about the end of the world. The end of the world is someplace I don’t want to be and for sure don’t want my friends to be. I need to make sure that every time I have the opportunity like oh the worlds ending I can start a conversation about Revelations and how this is actually going to happen. I need to make sure that I share GOD’s WORD with as many people as possible because I don’t want them to be on the earth as this is happening.

This is not something I want to be around for. I trust nobody would. If people really believed this was coming they would seek shelter in Christ ASAP. No time for messing around. Not, I’ll wait until I’m older to become a Christian. Though people should count the cost before deciding to follow Christ, I need to urge them to make it a priority matter since Christ could come back at any second.

This whole chapter is intensely scary. So many people dying, water turning to blood, water turning bitter, and this verse with a third of the light going away. I don’t know if it’s from reading the Chronicals of Narnia too many times or what, but I completely associate a dimmed and dying sun with a dying world. When I read this I keep thinking how scary it will be for people on Earth when all of these things happen. People, who like to fool themselves and think THEY are in control, will fully realize how helpless they are. They won’t be able to save/fix the water, the grass, or the sun. We depend on God for EVERY good thing and God, in His wrath, will remind everyone of that fact. I’m thankful today for the big beautiful sun, shining at 100% of it’s God given potential.

This chapter is extremely frightening to all and every people who don’t repent and live in Christ. It’s definitely like a slap in the face to me…making me think, WHY am I not out there *right* now telling every single person I pass, that the only way is God’s way and if you aren’t in His name…be prepared for hellfire, eternal suffering and terrifying lives until then. I think one of the reasons I never read Revelations before was because I was afraid..I didn’t want to read it and feel even more convicted to be out evangelizing RIGHT now in this moment…now, I am..and I’m praying that God will give me the courage to go out there and proclaim His name.

Philippians 2: 10-11

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

In verses 7 – 12, it talks about horrible things happening in thirds, which I think is extremely precise. It is kind of scary to think of “a third of the sea becoming blood” or “a third of the sun, moon, and stars being darkened”. This really shows the power, and wrath of our God.

Intense chapter! This gives me a tangible picture of what God’s wrath will look like. As some of you have said already, it gives me motivation to share the gospel so that people I know and love do not have to endure this intense wrath! One thing that really stood out to me in Revelation 7 is how God is still restraining His wrath to let more people repent! How merciful! He could have destroyed all the world with hail, fire, and blood cast on the land with the first trumpet judgement, but instead only one third was consumed. Despite man’s wickedness and total rejection of God, He is still merciful and desiring people to be saved. I am going to praise God this morning for saving me from His wrath through Christ!

Wow! All these verses are very graphic in showing what will happen in the end of times. I cannot believe how much destruction there will be. I know that if that ever happens in my lifetime that I will be a child of God so that I am on His side- The Good side.

Like Murphy said, these verses should instill a lot of fear in those who are not saved. The end times are not going to be a fun time-but rather a time of destruction and intense wrath. Thank the Lord we won’t have to endure times like that! Chapters like this make me think of the non-Christian friends I have, and it makes me so scared for them! They need the hope that I have so that they won’t go to Hell. I need to step it up on evangelizing because I dont want any of my friends going through the torment described here!

This whole part of the chapter scares me a bit. Just showing that if we you are not part of God’s people, just to see part of the pain and suffering they will go through. This just shows how much we need to be spreading the gospel and praying that more peolple come to Christ so that they do not have to suffer.

I’m praying for new Christians this week leading up to Easter! :)

This chapter is absolutely insane! Talk about God opening up a can of wrath! The first four trumpets did tons of damage, but then the eagle cries out “woe, woe, woe” about the blasts of the last three trumpets! The repetition of the woes is used to intensify the magnitude of the woe. It is the same as underlining, italicizing, and bold-fonting something. “If you think these trumpets were bad, wait for the next three” is what the eagle is saying. This goes to show how seriously God takes sin, and how much He hates it. As I was reading this chapter, I realized that God is just getting warmed up. Like Steffen said before me, I am so grateful that Christ took the wrath of God in my place! I need to take sin so much more seriously, because God takes it seriously, and it angers Him! Even though I am saved by His grace, my salvation is not a license to sin. I am praying that God would use this verse to continually convict me and remind me of the cross. I deserved hell and His righteous wrath, but by His mercy I am saved! Praise to Jesus Christ in heaven!

This is THE Global warming we should be concerned with! And if we are concerned about it then we’ll switch our fear from man to God and share the bad news with urgency and authority and the good news with love and gentleness. Lord, inspire us with Your words today and open doors for the gospel in front of us. Move us to do what you command and please come soon!

This spoke to me, as did the first verse of the chapter that tells of how there was silence in heaven for about a half hour after the seventh seal was opened. Often I have made the grave mistake of hearing God’s Word and getting so pumped, that I just go out and DO it. Without always wrapping it in prayer. This chapter reminds me how very important it is to present it before God and meditate on it before going out like a kamikaze, and end up making it MY agenda and not the Lord’s. Otherwise, it is so easy to wind up missing the little subtle turns in the road or the stones that might trip me as I track the path God calls me to.

11 The name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood, and many people died from the water, because it had been made bitter.

When Moses turned the water into blood, no one was able to drink it and the Egyptians had to go without water for a long time. It’s not like God hasn’t done this before, God has the power to do anything. He’s killed off many many many people during the flood and can you imagine seeing all of those bodies in the water? SCARY! He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of their sin. The Egyptians wouldn’t listen so He gave them many plagues and eventually, killed off all the firstborns. I find that I am still learning how to listen…that is my lesson today. LISTENING. Extremely hard for me but yet, ever so important. And of course, this reminded me to go to school with a “I’m going to help save someone today because God is using me” attitude. :D MARANATHA!

In this chapter, we have seen the first four of the seven trumpets sounded. With the sounding of each trumpet, one third of something was taken to destruction. A third of the earth, grass and trees were burned up. A third of the sea became blood with a third of the sea animals dying and a third of the ships destroyed. Wormwood fell on one third of the rivers and springs, its bitterness even killing those who drank it. A third of the light from both night and day was struck, a third from the sun, moon, and stars. All this destruction has come about through the sounding of the four trumpets. This eagle is flying around crying woe to those still on the earth. He is crying out before the rest of the trumpets, the last three are about to blow, as the destruction will only get worse.

As on this day of destruction, God will destroy of that has been mentioned in this chapter, I need to be thankful for those things that I have right now. And more importantly, I need to be thankful for my salvation. More than just saying, “Thank you,” and continuing to live my life as I have, I need to show my thankfulness and gratitude to God for my salvation in the way that I live. Because of his love, the sending of his Son coming into the world as the perfect sacrifice for my sins, I have salvation though him. Jesus died so that I would live. And so having life through his death, I must live as a living sacrifice to God, that my purpose is to bring God glory!

These are some really scary verses. The end times are not going to be at all fun for anyone who is not one of GOD’s people. These verses should give us a sense of urgency in our evangelization because we know what is coming, and I don’t think any of us want our friends or family, or anyone at all to experience this kind of torture. I need to evangelize my friends more.
