Revelation 7

The 144,000 of Israel Sealed

7:1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree. Then I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, with the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea, saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” And I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:

12,000 from the tribe of Judah were sealed,
12,000 from the tribe of Reuben,
12,000 from the tribe of Gad,
12,000 from the tribe of Asher,
12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali,
12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh,
12,000 from the tribe of Simeon,
12,000 from the tribe of Levi,
12,000 from the tribe of Issachar,
12,000 from the tribe of Zebulun,
12,000 from the tribe of Joseph,
12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin were sealed.

A Great Multitude from Every Nation

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” 14 I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

15 “Therefore they are before the throne of God,
and serve him day and night in his temple;
and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.
16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
the sun shall not strike them,
nor any scorching heat.
17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
and he will guide them to springs of living water,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” (ESV)

    Rev 7:9-10 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

    I want to be a part of filling up this group! Lord, I pray for divine appointments today to preach and share the bad and the good news!!! Please give me the words and the boldness and the gentleness to share You properly. Prepare hearts and open doors when I knock today. And inspire many, many others to go out and prach life through Christ today. And please come soon!

    • Trembling with fear from the alimighty God, B says:

      amen Mr. Hosford! I know you will be apart of the great multitude because everyone can see that God has changed you for the better! You are saved, praise the Lord! :D

  2. Pastor Ben says:

    Revelation offers a terrifying glimpse into the wrath of God; however, it also offers a sneak peak of heavenly worship!

    “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

    “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

    Just thinking about worship in heaven is getting me even more excited to worship in True North today, especially this verse that talks about heaven:

    “O what peace the Spirit of Jesus brings
    Through the trials he will carry me
    One day in heaven our eyes will meet
    Filled with wonder all the saints will sing

    Hallelujah what a Savior
    I owe everything to him
    Hallelujah what a Savior
    Hallelujah to my King”

  3. Dan Lauder says:

    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    The situation in heaven sounds pretty good. Never having any unmet hunger or thirst for anything because we are completely satisfied in the presence of Christ. No tears or sadness, just rejoicing. No toilsome labor in the scorching heat, but instead being guided to cool springs of living water. Sign me up for this!

  4. Beth Lauder says:

    2 Then I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, with the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea, 3 saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” 4 And I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel.

    These verses stood out to me because they show how merciful God is to redeem 144,00 Jewish people during the tribulation. After the fact that the Jews killed Jesus and have rejected him for thousands of years since His life and death on earth, it is remarkable to me to think that God still graciously extends salvation to thousands of Jews from each tribe in Israel. I praise God for that same mercy that He extended to me, a sinner who deserved His wrath because I denied Christ for the first twenty six years of my life. We worship a gracious, merciful, forgiving God who is worthy of all praise!

    It’s very interesting to read Revelations because there’s so much information here, some of it, quite terrifying. But there’s so much to learn and so much to know. When we started Revelations, one of my first thoughts was..oohh…and then I remembered this one verse from chapter 7…

    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    To me, this is a little light in quite a lot of darkness. Revelations is talking about the end times, and although we as Christians should be totally stoked about it, it still worries me a bit. But reading this verse…the Lamb will be their shepherd…he will guide them to springs of living water…He will wipe away *every* tear from their eyes. That verse has made a great impact on me. God will wipe away *every* tear from their eyes. To think that God sees every tear that falls from my face..and that He takes notice and wipes it away every single time..WOW that’s powerful. I absolutely love this verse, and I’m so glad we’re reading through Revelations because I have never fully read through it!

    Revelation 7:

    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” (ESV)

    Just like the last pizza lunch we had at Dana, those who recieved the gift of salvation from God will be satisfied. It says that we’ll have no hunger or thirst and no more tears. These 144,000 won’t even have to go through the tribulation and all of that pain the non-believers have to go through.

  7. Emily Knudsen says:

    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    A lot of times when i think of heaven i think that i will eat the best food, drink the best water, and everything would be awesome! But really i wont even be hungry or thirsty; i will be satisfied with everything, and all i want to do is worship God with everyone else! Heaven is going to be great! And to think its forever!!!! I always think in my mind that there has to be a day when everything goes blank! But no! Because of Gods grace i have been chosen to live with Him and all the fellow christians in heaven for eternity!!! :D

  8. Elizabeth T OCHSA Christian Club says:

    3 saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.”

    This part kind of reminded me of Noah and the ark, how God found the most holy people and saved them. It’s a comforting thought! I hope I can be one of those people clothes in white robes with palm branches in my hands! But I need to work for it. I pray that during this last week before spring break, I will be like those people in white and serve others and the Lord through EVERYTHING I do.

  9. Trembling with fear from the alimighty God, B says:

    I find that I love Ben’s comment because that’s what I was going to comment on. XD We went from completely terrifying chapter, to awesome chapter. God sees the suffering here on Earth and makes it good in Heaven. I will never be sad or in pain there….I’ll be in the presence of the Lord! That actually is scary too….but not the scaryness that will face the Earth! Last weekend Bobby touched on how there will be thousands upon thousands of people worshipping the Lord in Heaven. I won’t even be able to hear my own voice! That is exciting for me! At big concerts it’s the same way, but it’lll be a million more voices singing praises to God. I can’t wait! For now though, I shall sing praises to my king here on Earth with all my heart, till I can sing it in front of my Lord one day in Heaven. MARANATHA! :D

  10. Cameron says:

    14 I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

    During the tribulation, the people who become Christians will suffer because of the name of Christ. They will be killed for their faith and allegiance to God. Their situation is similar to ours today. While we are not in the tribulation, we still will suffer as Christians. In True North our current serious is called “The Blessed Suffering” and so far we have heard two awesome messages from Pastor Bobby about suffering. But despite their suffering (tribulation saints) and our suffering, we still have the blood of the Lamb to cover us! No matter how much we suffer, we still have Christ! I am so thankful that no matter what happens to me on this earth, whether it is suffering or persecution or temptation, I can never be snatched out of Jesus’ hand (John 10:28

    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    Here John looks forward to the rewards that we will all get when we get to heaven! We will hunger and thirst no more (v.16) and Jesus Christ Himself will be our shepherd, in the midst of the throne! Christ will guide us and God will wipe away our tears! This picture really gets me ready to suffer for the gospel! Even though I know that it is sometimes going to be hard on this earth, living a holy life and serving Christ, I know of the hope of heaven. I am praying that these three verses will motivate me and encourage me to look at suffering as a blessed suffering, because I am in good company, and God will reward me and welcome me into His eternal kingdom one day!

  11. Sτeƒƒen Eriksen says:

    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.

    To be in heaven in the presence of the Lord with the Lamb as shepherd to guide them. There is nothing more satisfying than this. Christians have nothing greater to look forward to than reaching home to spend eternity there. This world cannot satisfy. Our recent Campus Lunches on “Never Hunger Again” showed that no matter how happy you may feel with something, that pleasure won’t last forever. And so there is nothing physically here on earth that can bring true satisfaction, something that will never cease to keep you satisfied. No matter how full you feel after eating, you will feel hungry again soon enough. And no matter how refreshed you are to drink a cool glass of water, you will be thirsty again.

    The only way in which I can have satisfaction right now is in Jesus Christ! Apart from him, there is nothing this world has that will last to fulfill me. When Jesus returns, he will take all the Christians back with him into heaven. There it will be eternally satisfying to dwell in the presence of the Lord and worship him! But until then, I can still find never-ending satisfaction right now in Jesus Christ. I never have to hinger or thirst spiritually ever again because of the salvation I have in Jesus, by the grace of God. I need to not let myself get distracted and crave after the things of this world. They will never last to fulfill me. Instead, I must keep my eyes on Christ as the center of my life as he gives me all that I need!

  12. Jackson Dahl says:

    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    As Steffen talked about, these people that are saved will experience a satisfaction beyond anything comparable. I have been saved already, so I already have this unending satisfaction. However, sometimes I don’t base my joy or happiness on the eternal satisfaction of Jesus Christ saving me from my sins, and rather on worthless, worldly things. This is such a dire mistake! I need to base all joy and happiness I have solely off the fact that my God is ALWAYS good, despite how my life is!

    Though I do have all the satisfaction I will ever need here on earth, I can still look forward to an even greater joy when I get to worship my Lord forever and see him face to face one day in heaven! I have full confidence that this will be the most incredible experience any Christian will ever have! I long so much for that day – but for now, I must remain steadfast (1 Cor. 15:58), with the foundation of my joy in the fact that Jesus Christ gave everything for me, and I want to give everything I have to him.

    MARANATHA!

  13. Tanner says:

    ELLO… I read

    I like verse 3 saying, “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.”

    I like this verse because it talks about GOD not letting HIS people suffer. GOD will protect the HIS people and won’t harm them himself. The only people who can harm us can only harm our body and not our soul. I need to make sure that I have faith in GOD that HE won’t harm me and to make sure I don’t blame HIM when something goes wrong. I need to make sure I have faith in GOD that HE does everything for a reason.

    15 “Therefore they are before the throne of God,
    and serve him day and night in his temple;
    and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.

    I just loved how this passage showed all of God’s splendor and our role in worshiping Him day and night! This verse says how His own serve Him day and night and He shelters them with His presence. The next verses say what God does for us which sometimes I forget. God loves me, He sent His son for me, when I believed that and really truly put my faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, I became apart of that love, shelter, mercy, and grace. :) The Lord is faithful and He will never let me fall as long as I trust in Him. My God deserves me serving, praising, and “street fighting” for Him every day, and I will because my God saved me!! Glory to God in the highest forever and ever AMEN!!

    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,

    This is such an encouraging verse! When Jesus comes back we’re going to be with Him! He is our shepard and we won’t ever be sad anymore! Heaven is going to be amazing, words can’t describe it! I’m so glad that He’s coming back to get me!

    This description of heaven sounds soo awesome! i cant wait for the day i die or when Jesus Christ comes back, maranatha! i need to be getting the word out so that Jesus Christ’s kingdom can come that much faster!

  19. 16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    Although these verses are talking about the select people who have been washed clean by the blood of Christ during the Tribulation, the fact is that they are in Heaven, and are fully satisfied in the presence of the Lord. That is what Heaven will be like.

    On that day in Heaven, my evil desires, namely those of my flesh, will be conquered and I will have a new body, fully satisfied in Christ, made new with new desires that aren’t evil or unfilled, but which crave the goodness of my Lord.

    I can’t wait for the day when I am freed from my flesh and I am introduced to a whole new reality, where Christ is praised, his goodness, his wisdom, his power, his glory, and his blessing forever, and then, surely goodness and mercy will follow me, all the days of my life, all the days of my life.

    I love thinking about Heaven! Maranatha!

  20. Dominic Scarmardo (Dana!) says:

    11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

    God is so mighty and powerful! He is worthy to be praised continually because of what He has done here on Earth. And that’s exactly whats going to happen! Everyone in Heaven will fall facedown in awe of Him, and I can’t wait to be one of the people that can yell out to God how amazing He is! Maranatha!!!

  21. Alyssa K (recently back with internet access again) :> says:

    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    This is such a beautiful verse to me :) Christ will be refreshing his followers who have endured hard tribulations and are weary, and he will be like the well of eternal life that they can drink from and be satisfied. This reminds me of when Jesus says that if you come to him you will never grow thirsty. And I love how God is promised to “wipe away every tear from their eyes” because nothing is greater than his love for his children. Every time I endure a trial, I turn to him for refuge and pray for him to wipe away my tears. It is so encouraging to know that I can always count on my God and Lord to guide me in the right direction.

  22. Jessica K (back from nationals!) says:

    9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,

    This verse is so cool because I cannot wait until that day when uncountable numbers of people will be worshipping God. God deserves so much praise and it annoys and saddens me that more people aren’t praising God (non-Christians) then those I hear praising God. I need to help spread God’s joy and his Word. This will be an awesome day, as described in Revelation.

    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    I like this verse because it reminds me how God is in control. I am one of His sheep, so thankful to be led by Him. That living water of eternal life is also a blessing I thank God for. God is comforting and “will wipe away every tear”, proving God’s compassion. I am so lucky to have God’s mercy, compassion and grace in my life. He pulls me through the tough times and blesses me with amazing times:) Most people don’t understand how God can be judging and loving, but I think it’s harder to understand how he couldn’t be. I mean, he’s God! I need to remind people that God truly cares about them, and will wipe away their tears, provide comfort, and security.

  23. hunter 2010 says:

    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    In my study Bible, John MacArthur points out that the Lamb has always been the shepherd. I think it is so awesome how God did that play on words with who Jesus Christ is! He is the Lamb that has taken our sin away, but He is also our shepherd that leads us through life…soooo cool.

  24. Stacy Perkins says:

    This chapter brings me deep comfort as a believer. It brings incredible gratitude and a sense of urgency to share the Gospel with those whom God brings my way, and to whom He calls me. It heightens my awareness, and propels me to keep my eyes and heart open when I go out into the world to run my errands, go about my responsibilities and life demands, or pursue my daily agenda. This weekend at my older brother’s 40th birthday party, it struck me that I was not there to catch up with my family members or eat and drink the awesome spread that my sister in-law put out, but rather to step outside of myself (as uncomfortable as it often is for an introvert like me. Yes, I AM an introvert, perhaps to some of your shock; I gain energy when I withdraw from the world and spend time in the quiet, away from people!), strike up conversation with strangers, and pray through the initial superficialities of our conversation, with hopes God will open the doors to plant eternal seeds for His glory. And you know what? He was faithful. I got to humbly evangelize my way through that party and even invite some to Easter at the Bren. God used me to spur some fellow Christians on, and with others, to share with them the futility and ultimate death wish that comes with a life of sin, and the hope of eternal life that comes to be with a life in Christ. I left that party so grateful, AND convicted. Convicted that I have wasted so many opportunities in the past by not looking out for others and instead staying within the confines of my own selfish tiredness or discomfort in striking up conversation with people I don’t know. But grateful: because God of course proved faithful in giving me strength, words, and the desire to do it DIFFERENTLY and according to HIM when I surrender and offer myself to Him. And I will draw from this experience, for the NEXT party I go to, or the next time I have to run to the bank to make a deposit.

    I will be among the great multitude in white robes; of this God has given me confidence in my justification. And it is my Christian act of obedience in love to be used by the Holy Spirit, to speak and act in whatever setting I am in, that others might have their tears wiped away by our Creator-Savior, as well, praying for God to give them saving faith as He uses me to speak truth in genuine, gentle, and humble love. Pastor Bobby’s sermon this weekend drives it home: Stacy died the day Jesus Christ came to live inside of me. And in the words of Paul, it is no longer I who live, but CHRIST Who lives IN me. My life is not my own; it belongs to God, to do with whatever pleases and glorifies Him the MOST. And it is my PLEASURE to avail myself to and for Him.

  25. P.J. says:

    “9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

    Man, reading through Revelation is so exciting; I’m excited to worship God and be a part of this multitude crying this phrase out to the Lord who saved me from hell. When I get to thinking of heaven, it blows my mind. I can’t even begin to think in my sinful mind of a perfect body with no sin and no sadness, for eternity. I’m thankful that God sent his Son to die for me and allow me to be in heaven!

  26. Justin Credble says:

    15 “Therefore they are before the throne of God,
    and serve him day and night in his temple;
    and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.

    –verse 14 says “these are the ones coming out of the great tribulation”
    when we go though tribulations, all too often we place our faith in places other than in God. In our jobs, our schoolwork, our friends… its endless. instead it is the people who are struggling, the ones who are coming out of the worst-of-worsts, serving the Lord day and night. day and night. think about that. these people are suffering, and instead of turning to their own selfish desires they turn to God, ALL day ALL night. Never even a straying thought! What faith they must have!?! and what does God show them? His grace.

  27. 17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    This verse is really strong for me. The Lord leads us through life and directs us down the right path. I am thankful to where the Holy Spirit has lead me and I want to praise God daily for how good he is to me. I agree with Alyssa and how this verse also reminds me of when Jesus says that if you come to him you will never grow thirsty. That is comforting and so true! God always keeps his promises and will never forsake me. “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” This opens my eyes for when I am going through a hard trial and I feel like it is not going to get better soon. I need to trust and rely on the Lord that he is there for me and will wipe away every tear. God knows what I go through and he will not let me go through a trial if he does not think I can handle it. That point right there should motivate me to have more faith and trust in God! When I worry or become upset with a situation, that shows that I am not trusting in God and I need to have the motivation of having and gaining a gentle and quiet spirit! I pray that I will always be trusting in God and keeping my focus on him through everything!

  28. Murphy Danahy lowly servant of the living GOD says:

    15 “Therefore they are before the throne of God,
    and serve him day and night in his temple;
    and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.
    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    This is such a great verse. It is such a great and powerful promise that GOD gives us here. When we get to heaven, this is what we will see and this is what we will experience. It is so great.

  29. Joy Talcott says:

    9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages…

    The number of people cannot be counted and they are from every nation. I cannot wait for heaven when I can worship with a multitude like this. They are crying out that God is the source of salvation and the source of all things, deserving all the glory. Worshipping is powerful here on earth and getting to see a glimpse of what it will be like in heaven is awesome. I love how the multitude is made up of people from every tribe and people and language because God is the same as you cross cultures. They all fall facedown and cry out saying

    “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

  30. =) Jeff Modugno 2010 says:

    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.

    This is such a encouraging verse. I am so glad that I will never hunger or thirst anymore. It is going to be awesome to be 100% satisfied. I need to remember this verse when I think that things of this world will satisfy me because they will not. There are so many temptation that tell us that the new ipod or next phone will satisfy us. God is the only thing that can satisfy me forever.

  31. Katie Melrose says:

    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    How amazing is it to have the Lord take care of us and be constantly involved in our lives. He is fully aware the pain, the joy, feelings and thoughts I experiance everyday and if I trust Him then he will continue to take care of me.
    When I am in heaven I will have no more tears, pain or sorrow but only joy and worship to give to God and lets just say Im soooo excited! I cant wait to be totally done with this world and have a new body and life with the Lord! MARANATHA!!!

  32. Mady Adler says:

    Heaven is going to be sooooooooo awesome!!! Mostly every chapter so far has talked about worship Jesus! When people are in the presence of Jesus in his glorified body, all they can do is fall flat on their faces and worship him and praise him. I cannot wait until the day I will be doing this (: Maranatha!

  33. Zach Vanden Bosch says:

    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    A glimpse into heaven. This verse isn’t saying that there won’t be tears, but that every tear will be wiped away. Jesus will lead us physically. It will be awesome. I can’t wait. Maranatha!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. Shane McCuistion says:

    I know that Jesus is the only one that I can only be content and satisfied with! Anything on this world that I ever think I am satisfied with, I am wrong. I will never be as satisfied with it as satisfied I am with God. I am definitely pumped up for Heaven. It is going to be far from boring!!!! I get excited during intimate worship sessions in True North. If I think I’m satisfied with that, then I will probably explode when I hear the worship in Heaven!!! MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  35. Boyd Jorden says:

Amen.”

    Even though, as many have already commented, these verses are describing those involved in the great tribulation, it’s still an awesome portrait of God’s power and glory, and it gets me excited about being with my Lord and Saviour in heaven. I can’t wait for the day when I’ll be able to bow before Him and offer Him my praise face in His very presence. Even though I thank God daily for my salvation, to be able to say thank you directly to Him will be incredible! Revelation is getting me psyched for that day, and it’s a powerful reminder of why I live in fear and awe of God.

  36. It's Daniel Yo! says:

    This is hard to comment on.

    But i’ll talk about how excited i am for Jesus to come back….I”M EXCITED!!!!!!! All this stuff is gonna be reall cool to see (if we can) and i really cannot wait for the world to end. I don’t know what i would do if Jesus died for all our sins.

  37. josh senger says:

    12 saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

    God deserves all of this and more! He deserves everything that I have and every resource that I have. He has given everything that I have to me as a loan. I am only borrowing the things I have while I am here on the earth and I want to use everything for His glory. It is easy for me to look at the things in my life as mine but I want to change the way that I look at the things around me so that God gets the glory for everything that I have and do.

  38. Melissa Cox says:

    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    We don’t deserve any of these good things, but through Christ God chooses to bless us with an eternity of joy, worship, thanksgiving. Having no tears again! That is something I really look forward to. Praise God for providing a way…although I could never deserve it!

  39. Ian H. says:

    15 “Therefore they are before the throne of God,
    and serve him day and night in his temple;
    and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.
    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    Being sheltered by God, not being hungry or thirsty any more, being protected, satisfied, crying no more, shepherded by the Lamb Himself. If that is what heaven will be like for God’s people, I’m looking forward to it. While this world seems much more real right now–and even, sometimes, better–than a distant, almost unimaginable place in the future, this book makes it clear that heaven is going to be vastly better than this to a degree that I cannot fathom. The question is, however, what am I going to do about it? Am I going to trust God right now and thus live focused on the then-and-there, or am I going to get caught up in this temporal world? God, please give me a mindset focused on the eternal, and as a result let my life be centered on Jesus Christ.

  40. Shelby Sawyer says:

    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    I love reading this! In heaven there will be no pain or suffering, hunger or thirst, and we will be free from tears and scorching heat! Wow this sounds amazing! The Lord is the only thing that is truly satisfying!

  41. angela voris says:

    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” (ESV)

    This just gets me more excited for heaven, that there will be no more pain and suffering. i really love the last pert where it says that God will wipe every tear from their eyes, just showing part of how heaven will be like. I don’t know about you guys but im tired of all the sadness and there are just so many good things to look forward to! MARANATHA!!

  42. Summer Staeb says:

    13 Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, clothed in white robes, and from where have they come?” 14 I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

    I thought this part of the chapter was really interesting where it said that all the people gathered around the throne were dressed in white robes. It said that they were washed white through “the blood of the Lamb,” meaning Christ’s sacrifice. This truly shows how we can only be made right and stand before God through Jesus! With His sacrifice, God looks at us, but sees Jesus’ life rather than our own sinful one. Especially as Easter comes around, but even just everyday of my life, I want to be overflowing with thankfulness for what Jesus did for ME!

  43. kelly causky says:

    9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

    Soon and very soon everyone will be worshiping Jesus Christ. As a Christian, this is an amazing thing to look forward to. We have to be sure to prepare our hearts now and praise him throughout our days!

  44. Lauren Goudge says:

    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”—Wow I still cannot wait until the day when I get to see my amazing Lord!!! maranatha maranatha maranatha!! Though there are so many trials going on in my life right now, God is still good no matter what! He has a plan for me and He wants me to live my life all for him! When I get to be with him in heaven there will be no more sinning and no more bad things. Definitely something to look forward to. When I am bummed about anything I need to be thinking about how good God is that he sent his only son down on this earth to die for me and I get to live and that God has chosen me!! And that I get to see him soon on top of all that and I will be worshipping him all day every day!!! LORD please come ASAP!!!
    MARANATHA!!!

  45. ZAch Senger says:

    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    Heaven is going to be so AWESOME!!!!! I can not wait till the day that i take part in this!!! Also just the talking about worshipping In Heaven!!! It just makes me like want to go worship right now and sing as loud as i can on my rooftop praises to my king!!! Lord come soon so i can worship you with all the believers together and praise your name!!!

  46. Bryan Sonksen says:

    I read…

    The last three verses give us another glimpse of Heaven. The consequences of human imperfection will no longer be present! We will be with God forever and be able to see Him face to face. I cannot wait for this moment. Maranatha!

  47. Jacob Upton HE>i says:

    10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

    The Lord has the power to grant salvation, and i am so glad that i have taken advantage of that, and that i havve faith in the Lord and that He died for our sins.

  48. T Moore says:

    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    I am looking forward to being in Heaven!! I can’t wait to be there with God worshipping Him face to face! And from what this verse says, it shall be great, no more pain or sadness, God wiping away every tear from our eyes. I know that this life can be rough (or brutal at times) but in times of need or sorrow for me, what really makes me feel better and gives me that joy is just remembering this: that I am saved and nothing can take that away from me! Like I said before, I am really excited to be Heaven! MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  49. 11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God,

    Like Pastor Ben said previously, this is a sneak peek of heavenly worship!…….

    I’d like to concentrate on a really powerful thing that I noticed in this verse, and that is the words, “falling on thier faces”. falling facedown is more than a song we sing!

    Falling facedown in front of the living God is a powerful image, one that I would like to go more into depth with. The only time I can think of, when I fall facedown, is when I faint. The dictionary definition of “faint” is: lacking strength or active energy. When I fainted, I hadn’t had food or rest for a while. So I obviously lacked any means of energy to keep myself standing. The act of falling facedown comes with an overwhelming feeling of force (in my case it was exhaustion)….but in this verse, when it talks about how everyone fell on thier faces, they weren’t overwhelmed with the feeling of exhaustion, but they where overwhelmed with the feeling of worship and praise. To acctually fall facedown is such a powerful image of God’s glory, becuase it shows just how overwhelming God is. He overwhelms me with every single characteristic that he has, and I long for the day that I will be in front of Him, and where I will fall on my face in front of him, worshiping Him!

  50. Katie Slusher says:

    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    While watching a movie a few days ago, I realized how wrong is the world’s perception of heaven. The movie portrayed it as people up in heaven polishing the stars and I realized no wonder people are not excited about Christ’s return. However, the bible portrays an entirely different picture of heaven. In heaven, all our needs and desires will be completely satisfied. As these verses state there will be no more hunger, thirst, or tears. Jesus Christ offers the only true satisfaction! In heaven we will not longer be fighting our sin, but worshipping our Savior, completely satisfied! May my prayer continually be come oh Lord!

  51. Meisha Preston says:

    10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

    I think it is awesome that we will always be giving glory to Christ for what he did when he died and took the punishment of our sins. That was the greatest event of all of history and we will be praising God for it for all of eternity! I’m so excited to be able to celebrate Christ dying and rising from the dead this Easter at Easter at the Bren!!!

  52. “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
    “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”
    Worship in Heaven will be awesome! It will be like Revival worship nights times a million! Like Luke says, we will all fall facedown in front of Him giving him the glory, honor, and praise he deserves! Heaven is going to be amazing and there we will be fully satisfied! (: Sometimes i feel as if a guy or something new will satisfy me. But in the end, nothing will satisfy me but seeing my true loves face adn being with Him forever! (: I cannot wait any longer! I am done with this world and i am DONE living for myself! I have died to sin and i am now alive in God through Christ Jesus(:

  53. 12 saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

    I am so ready to be singing praises such as these in heaven in the presence of my Lord. There is nothing i want more in this life than to be with my Lord forever and ever!! MARANATHA

    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    This verse is so encouraging. The Lord is my shepherd, he will guide me, and he will wipe every tear from my eye. I know that i can always lean on the Lord when i am not strong. I can always go to him whenever i am in need. and i can always trust in him to have a plan for my life. It says in Psalm 34:18 says that “the Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit.” I trust in my savior who has rescued me to fill me with his joy and peace. Lord thank you for what you have done for me.

    • Psalm 34:18 is SUCH a uplifting verse! When we feel down, or when times get rough, He is always quick to comfort. When it seems like no one is there for you and we feel empty-hearted, God fills that empty gap with overwhelming joy and hapiness. Only in God will we be satisfied. It’s like Dan Lauder commented on in his post today: He will wipe every tear from our eye! Stay strong Jordan! Your comment was encouraging to read!!!

  54. This us kind of refreshing and pleasing to me to kind of back away from Gods wrath and look on the bright side. Well to see that God has our backs and we gave his as well. We will have someone there to wipe every tear drop and someone to talk to on those rough days. Just like Pastor Bobby said that we are street fighters. We have to want victory in the end. I hope everyone walks in their school ready to fight for what is right. “The one who conquers…” Just something from Revelations I thought I add in. Hope to see everyone at Easter at the Bren.

  55. Austin Jones aka Dr. Jones says:

    16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;
    the sun shall not strike them,
    nor any scorching heat.
    17 For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
    and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    Revelation is an awesome book. It’s sooo great that we get to see what heaven will be like! These verses are particularly interesting. There won’t be any problems in Heaven! NOone will be hungry. Noone will be thirsty. Noone will be tired. Noone will have any problem to worry about, and more importanly, NOONE will be able to stop us from worshipping God with our whole hearts!!! I cannot wait to get there!!! I’m tired of this world! Maranatha!!!

  56. nashossaraulston says:

    “These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
    I am SOOOO thankful that I was blessed by Jesus when he died for ME and because of MY sins on the cross! because of him, i too will stand before God one day, and Jesus will have paid for my sin in full, i will not have to experiernce the wrath of our almighty God! i need to be so eternally thankful of this everysingle day!!! i hope the day where i can finally be with the Lord in heaven comes soon:)

  57. Pastor Bobby says:

    10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

    At the end of a busy day it is great to sit back and know two things:

    #1 – It is great to read these comments.

    #2. – God has saved me.

  58. Michaela Adler says:

    16 “… They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;…
    17 … and he will guide them to springs of living water,
    and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

    This is absolutely amazing.
    We are going to be forever satisfied in just being in the presence of the Lord praising Him non stop.
    Does that not sound like the most appealing thing in the world??
    And I love how He’ll wipe away all the troubles and sorrows of the world so that we can enjoy being with our God, the Perfect Sacrifice, to the fullest extent and beyond that.
    I just can not wait to be with my Lord and Savior in utter paradise, face down, praising Him for all eternity.

  59. Mike says:

    1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth, that no wind might blow on earth or sea or against any tree.

    The image of these angels holding back the Judgment about to come on the earth until God had accomplished His will reminds me of how God is holding back His judgment on the earth so that people have more time to repent. As I Christian, I am daily praying MARANATHA and living so as to be ready for His return, but at the same time I think about all the people I know who are not saved, and who are still under God’s wrath. My heart breaks for them, but even this is not nearly the intensity of Jesus’ sorrow for these people that I need to emulate; he wept over the inhabitants of the city that would in a few short days cheer on His execution! This realization that time is running out should drive me to evangelize at every opportunity, making the most of the conversations I have in class and around campus at school, and else where as well.

  60. Jacob Antoun 2010 says:

    9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,

    I am trying to picture this in my head and just can’t quite imagine the breath taking experience it will be to have millions upon millions of people from all across the globe gathered in Jesus name, worshiping our King. I cannot wait for the day when we will be united with Christ in Heaven. MARANATHA!

  61. christopheriksen says:

    9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

    Thinking about Easter at the Bren lately has really made me excited about seeing thousands of people praising the LORD together. Verses like these help me start imagine how great it is going to be, but its hard to picture every being on earth one day praising the LORD altogether. Thats a lot of people. I pray that I would be praising God with the same fervor right now as I will in the future and I also pray that I would be evangelizing especially this week so we might see a glimpse of this as tons of Christians worship Him, hopefully at Easter at the Bren.

  62. Mark says:

    I like this chapter and how it talks about the vast power that God has!!

  63. Dan Blankenship says:

    Revelation 8

    How scary it is reading here in Revelation 8 about the desolation that will one day be a reality. Sometimes we can read a chapter like this and compartmentalize it into the same category as an improbable Hollywood movie. Unfortunately for those who were not raptured up into Heaven this predictive prophecy will be a sobering reality. With every trumpet that sounds will come more and more death and destruction upon those people who are still on Earth. With this impending reality in mind we as Christians should be thinking more about who we can share the Gospel with than anything else.

    1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first; 17then we that are alive, that are left, shall together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

    I pray for a Maranatha Mindset everyday that I live and breath here on Earth.
