The Seven Seals
6:1 Now I watched when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2 And I looked, and behold, a white horse! And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer.
3 When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” 4 And out came another horse, bright red. Its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people should slay one another, and he was given a great sword.
5 When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, a black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures, saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and do not harm the oil and wine!”
7 When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8 And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth.
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. 10 They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11 Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.
12 When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, 13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. 14 The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. 15 Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, 16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?” (ESV)

17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
As we get further into Revelation it begins to be about God’s judgment on the earth. This actually makes up the majority of the book. The picture of people hiding and calling on mountains and rocks to fall on them, definitely shows something of how terrifying and horrific the wrath of God will be to experience.
The most interesting part of the chapter to me is verse 9 to 11. This gives us a glimpse into those who have been martyred for their faith. But it clearly says that there are more who will be killed for the Word of the God and their witness of it. I wonder if any of us at True North will have the blessing of suffering the ultimate persecution of being killed for Jesus. While this might seems scary to us here on earth, this definitely presents a positive view from the heavenly perspective.
See you all at True North this weekend! Let’s spread the word about Easter at the Bren!
I’ve been reading through Isaiah and it says the people hide between the rocks and dust…it’s in…I think chapter 3 and a few chapters over…is that talking about Jesus’ second coming?
16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
God’s wrath is going to be a VERY scary thing for some people! These people want to hide their faces from God, because of his wrath. The people who have not repented and turned their lives over to Christ will face the wrath of God, and to answer the question “and who can stand?” the answer is no one! Our God is powerful!!! And he is coming back with a vengeance against those who denied him! I praise God that he saved me!
16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
This whole chapter is sooo intense! I can’t image what it will be like for the people living on earth then… but God tells us in verse 16 what their attitude will be– they’d rather die than face God’s wrath!! It is so terrible and incomprehensible to be the object of God’s perfect justice. And Jesus took on ALL of that on the cross… and then He loves and forgives me though I sin against him every day (keeping in mind that Christians sin less but are not sinless[:)! Love the reference to the Trinity too! For the great day of THEIR wrath has come!
15 Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, 16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
As I read these verses I was overwhelmed with gratitude for Jesus, who endured the wrath I deserved on the cross, satisfying the punishment I deserved for my sins. Verse 15 is clear that every human being alive on the earth during the tribulation will be helpless against God’s wrath. Even kings, generals, and the rich, who on earth have power and might, cry out to be killed because their earthly power is nothing in comparison to God’s omnipotence. I am thankful for my salvation today, and I am also inspired to get the gospel out to our lost world. I have several friends and family members who have not repented of their sins and places their trust in Christ. This passage makes it painfully clear what is ahead for them…pain, punishment, and destruction. I look forward to tonight, where I have the chance, along with many of you, to get the Word out about Jesus Christ and Easter at the Bren. I hope to see many of you at In-N-Out Evangelism tonight!
16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
The Wrath of God
The Sky tears like a paper towel, and the sun is blotted out and the moon is blood red, all the while stars are falling from heaven destroying the earth, causing everyone to hide in terror.
The idea of God hating sin, I don’t need to be convinced any longer. Those on the earth, those who have not obeyed the gospel, inherently ungodly people, maybe even some people we know now, they are the people being destroyed in this picture. God is just.
Yet this makes me urgent to share the gospel tonight at Double It Up Evangelism Night. Whether the Irvine Spectrum, the Town Center, or K-Scope, the majority of the people have either never heard the true Gospel, or have never responded to it. These will be the people hiding in caves from the wrath of God if we do not tell them.
“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news” (Rom. 10:14-15)!
I’m excited for Double it up Evangelism Night tonight! Spread the Good News!
8 And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth.
Yikes, I am definitely thankful that because I am in Christ, I won’t have to go through this. God’s wrath is scary and I definitely don’t want to face it. Thank you Jesus for enduring the penalty of my sin on my behalf! Now it’s time to go tell the truth to someone else today. Bring on evangelism night!
16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
God’s wrath is something i know i need to take more seriously! Hebrews 10:31 says “It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” This verse on revelation really shows that! i need to make sure i am really fighting sin so that i don’t take God’s wrath as seriously as it actually is.
17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
This is so amazing and true. When the day of their wrath comes, no one will be able to stand. We will all fall FACEDOWN because the glory, majesty and power of the Lord is overwhelming. I cannot wait for that day. When we are able to fall FACEDOWN in front of the Lord because we really realize, no one can stand next to Him. He’s so amazing and we as little sinners need to understand that falling FACEDOWN is probably the best and highest praise we can give Him. Although this day might seem amazing to me, to those who have never heard the word of God…this will be a TERRIFYING day! They will have to endure the wrath of God, lying on the floor begging forgiveness and wondering why “Megan Okada didn’t walk up to me and slap me upside the head and tell me I was walking the wrong path.” I really need to get out there and let every single person I can, know about the glory of God.
5 Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, 16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,
Throughout history, kings have always been counted with extremely high importance. And in wars, generals are the men in charge. They are on the battlefield calling the shots for what their army should do. Positions such as these are among the great ones, the earthly positions holding the most authority. Yet as high up as these men may be, they will join the rich, and the powerful, and the slaves, and the free, as everyone hides themselves when the seals are opened. Everyone will be hiding in caves and among rocks as they call out of how they are so unworthy of the Lamb. They are all calling out that they will be spared from the wrath of God. Yet for those who chose earlier not to turn to God, their blood is on their own hands.
A time will come when every knee will bow to God and every tongue will confess him as Lord. One day, everyone will recognize God for who he is. Yet, it will be too late for those who rejected him in their time on earth. I don’t want to see people on the wrong side hen their life here comes to an end. Though they will realize the truth when they stand before God, there will be nothing that they can do to save them from hell, the torment they will be cast into. I need to use this to motivate myself in talking boldly to others. Evangelism isn’t just a matter of checking the box after I have talked to somebody. It needs to be something I care deeply about with a passion! The eternity of many people’s lives are at stake right now. How can I be so shy when I have the truth that can save?! It’s like I am being selfish in not sharing with others the great news of how they can be set free from their everlasting destruction. I need to be all about sharing the gospel with other with an end goal in sight, that I am planting the seeds so that God will bring them to a point of repentance and faith. Obviously it isn’t me who will save them by convincing them of anything. But I am planting the seeds for God to do his work! There is no better time to think about this than tonight with Double-It-Up Evangelism! As I am speaking to other people tonight, I don’t want to be caught into an argument going back and forth over why both us us believe we have the truth. I want to be sharing the truth with gentleness and respect, not to convince them, but to allow them to grasp the truth for themselves! So stoked for tonight! See you all there!
16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
What a powerful verse! Reading this verse made me realize how powerful Gods wrath is and I need to really take it more seriously. People were hiding their faces from God because His wrath was so powerful! I am so grateful that He saved me!
Like many of you, this stood out to me. God’s wrath is a very scary thing. Kings and common people alike will cry out for rocks to crush them because they can’t bear God’s wrath. Thank you Jesus for taking God’s wrath (that I deserve) for me so that I might never have to experience it! This verse should spur all of us on to evangelize more so that less people will have to be the objects of God’s wrath.
11 Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.
This part of the Revelation drilled me. A comforting encouragement to remain steadfast in the calling He has outlined for and summoned me to. These saints have DIED for their faith and conviction in our Savior; their lives cut short, leaving their beloveds here on earth writhing with broken hearts. And I’m gonna think about entertaining the sinful thought of complaining about MY lot in life? I’m gonna think about throwing myself a pity party for when I feel like I’M going through tough times? Shame on me if I ever give these flashes of thought any pitiful consideration. The Lord’s response to these martyrs is classic of our God: assuring them and us of His perfect timing, His sovereignty, His holiness, and His steadfast perseverance to deliver every one of His loved ones who have a true love themSELVES for our Christ.
16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
This is so intense!! I definately am so glad that God has saved me and kept me from this wrath and that we won’t have to face the almighty Lord in all of His anger. Our Lord is so powerful!! it’s amazing that He saved us and that we arent getting the punishment showed in this chapter. We al deserve it and HE saved us anyways!!! :) ~Lord i pray that i will live in you everyday Lord and not think of myself but that i will think of serving you God.
Just reading this chapter makes me think that one day, everyone who is not saved will face the wrath of God and that is a scary thing. But we as christians have been commanded, out of love, we should be telling the whole world of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and through repentance and faith, they don’t have to feel God’s wrath or judgement. I pray that I would be living a life more like this because I know that at my school, I am slacking on telling all my non-christian friends about the gospel.
So lets get out there people! and a GREAT opportunity to do this is the DOUBLE IT UP EVANGELISM NIGHT tonight!!!!
5 Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, 16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
This is intense stuff guys! When i read this i get a crazy image of the world ending. If you’ve seen 2012 (not the greatest movie) but i can imagine the world getting destroyed just like that BUT WORSE!. Kaos all over the place. It will be so bad that people will be calling to the mountains to crash on them and kill them. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like they must be suffering a ton if they actually want to die.
This passage of Revelation just shows the power of God. I was doing some research online the other day about Christianity and it was saying how the bible has fufilled almost all the proficies. If God says something is going to happen it’s gonna happen. It’s amazing to me. I don’t understand how people can be athiest when they can see right infront of them all the things God has created and done! LOOK AROUND YOU. God says somewhere in revelation (i forget the verse?) that there will be earthquakes all over the world in random places and guess what!!! It’s happening right now!! I have a feeling we might possibly be living in the last days you guys. Because all the signs are showing literally ALL OF THEM! If you are not saved, I highly encourage you to repent of your sin and put your faith in Christ so when Christ comes back you will not be left behind but in the presence of the lord and savior Jesus Christ. Maranatha!!!
Rev 6:2 And I looked, and behold, a white horse! And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer.
Jesus, meek and mild, coming back to us a second time! Everyone will experience fear in this series of events – Christians and non-Christians alike. Let’s be ready for this return by repenting and trusting in Jesus alone. Don’t be fooled (Mat 7:21), time is short.
Everything about the seals will lead to God destroying the world and i would hate to be hear when God’s wraith is poured out on us.
Woooooow….as we go on in Revelation, it seems to get more and more intense! Jesus is bringing down wrath on the people on Earth who have decided not to follow Him….I’m so glad that He has chosen me! I’m so blessed! EXTREMELY BLESSED! There are no words to describe how blessed I am. Truly, God has spared me from Hell….that’s so incredible. God is loving…and yet perfect so He will judge the world some day….look at those that were killed for their faith! They are loved by God and He, in a way, gives them the revenge…all because of sin! WOW! God sees it and knows that it’s bad and He hates it…obviously A LOT! God, please help me stop sinning so that I may be more in your likeness. MARANATHA! Save your children!
16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
Here we get a description of the wrath that is to come on all of the ungodly. In fact, it is so bad that people are crying out for rocks and mountains to fall on them. They would rather die than suffer the wrath of God! Verse 17 describes how the people will ask “who can stand?”, and the answer to that question is no one! But the Bible is clear that Christians will not have to endure this wrath of God. Even though I am not going to be experiencing this tribulation, there is still application for me. I need to be telling everyone I know about God’s wrath against sinners, and about the gift that He has provided in Jesus Christ who has died for our sins. One awesome way to do this is at Evangelism Night tonight at True North!
17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
I simply can’t get past this image of “who can STAND?”! Both literally & figuratively, this shows God’s ultimate power–no one can stand in his presence because he elicits fear. I think of the pride & hubris that riddles our culture today, from people claiming they are their own god to those who defy anything that isn’t “pro-them.”. Philippians 2 puts it so bluntly that Revelation simply reiterates the idea that “every knee will bow…” before the omnipotent God of the universe.
Can I get a Maranatha?!
17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
Oh my gosh!
That was some scary stuff!
And that was only a PORTION of what is to happen to those who aren’t in Christ.
I’m SO thankful that He sent His grace down on me and saved my soul so that I won’t have to go through that kind of death, or if I was spared then, I’m thankful I won’t have to go through what is to come, and then hell.
That’s the scariest thing I’ve ever heard!
I don’t want any of my loved ones to have to go through any of that.
I need to spread God’s word more, so that they can be saved from a fate like this.
I want to see all my friends and family one day again in Christ, not suffering and in pain and agony for all eternity.
Lord, I pray for guidance, so that I may have the right words to say witness to those around me so they won’t have to suffer Your wrath.
You are so awesome and mighty God!
I read…
In this chapter, God is pouring His wrath out across the earth. It is so bad that people are calling out to the rocks to fall on them because they do not want to face the Lord’s judgment. I am SO thankful that He has saved me from my sins so that I will never have to suffer the wrath of God.
The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.
The coming of the Lord will be a fearful and terrifying event for those who are unsaved, the likes of which has never been seen before in history. I pray that God will give me boldness and a spirit of willingness and not of timidity, so I can spread His word in order that fewer will have to experience this horrifying judgement.
10 They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?”
there’s a passage in matthew that has something along the words of, “blessed are the meek, that they will inherit the earth” or something, that I thought kind of connected with this verse. it’s not the exact verse I was thinking of, but its w/n that passage. Anyway, I’ve always thought that Judgement day would be like the airport, only you dont choose where to go, God decides for you. Like a grayscale picture, when its mostly black and white.
We should be so thankful because this is what we get to avoid as CHRISTIANS. We don’t have to worry about the coming strife of the earth. Because we are not of the earth, we do not get to indulge in its sins that still draw us, but we also do not have to face the wrath that will come upon it.
The deadly things are outthere and can take o many different shapes. But the wrath of God is even greater than all of the terrible things on this earth. God can destroy your body and soul for eternity. I know a lot of us are scared of sharks and spiders, we never think about the wrath of God.
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne.
I do not think about it much, but many people throughout history and across the world have given/are giving their lives for the faith! This made me think about a few things:
-Thank God for those who have gone before us and stood so strong for God that they were killed. What an example for us!
-Pray for those around the world that are being persecuted and killed.
-Examine my own commitment to the faith.
But even the question these martyrs ask is telling. They are wondering how long it will be until God judges the earth. That day is coming, and coming soon!
ELLO… I read
I like verse 16,”calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb,”
I like this verse because it talks about those who were once mocking GOD openly to going crazy and asking a stone to hide them from GOD. like it because it talks about everyone fearing GOD and everyone who used HIS NAME in vane being scared of HIM because of what they have done and because they witnessed HIS power. I need to make sure that even though I hate when people mock the LORD and use HIS NAME in vane that I don’t just shrug it off and say ok well you’ll be sorry but I need to have the strength to correct them and to make sure that I do it with compassion and love. I need to pray that GOD will give me the courage and a righteous anger not a worldly one. I need to work on being zealous for GOD and not letting people disrespect HIM because one day they will have to face GOD for it and I have the chance to help them avoid hell.
CYA
17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
Revelation is starting to get really scary. This day is going to come sometime in the future. All these insane, crazy phenomenons, it seems, will happen when the time for God’s judgment is close. And what is so scary is that it is going to be so great that no one will be able to stand. But there is hope! Jesus Christ lived the perfect life we needed and died the death that we deserved, taking the punishment for all of our sin, and because of that we don’t have to face God’s wrath. Jesus is the only one who can save us from that; He is our one and only real hope. Knowing that the “End” is coming gives us an urgency, a need to spread the good news right now, before it is too late! Praise the Lord for Jesus Christ! God, please let your name be proclaimed and glorified in my life and in the lives of every one of your people at True North!
8 And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth.
Knowing that this is the fate that awaits the unsaved is a horrible thought – and this is nothing compared to what Hell will be like. When one loses sight of this, it can be easy to not make evangelism a priority, but if you see others as Jesus saw them – as saved or unsaved souls – you will not lose this urgency to share the gospel with them before it’s too late. i need to take full advantage of this week before Easter to tell everyone I can about the God who came to die for them – and what His death could save them from.
17 “for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
This is such a breath-taking passage! To think that everything we just read will happen is crazy!!! Just think about it, the moon turning to blood, the stars falling to the earth, and just as the verse says, who can stand. Who can stand up to God? For He is Lord and one day every knee will bow. I think that bigger question is will you already know Him will you bow, or will you just figure out that all the time you were on earth you put the who Jesus subject aside and lived for yourself!
Wow, this is an intense chapter! God’s wrath is a terrible thing that no one can stand but those who are in Christ. Looking ahead to Easter I’ve been thinking about how awful that moment was when Jesus, who had never done anything wrong, took upon himself all of God’s wrath and judgment for the sins of the whole world. I am so grateful that in Christ, all of God’s wrath toward me for my sin is finished–Romans 8:1 says ” Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
This is a great verse and it really stood out! Gods wrath is scary and we can see that in this chapter. God despises sin, yet he died for it! THis makes my so thankful for my salvation in Jesus Christ! He did so much for me and one day everyone will bow down to him and praise him! I cant wait! This verse reminds me of 1 John 2:28. Obey God now here on earth so when he appears we will not shrink and hide in shame for the way we lived our life. I msut live every single day for the Lord-obeying his commands, praising and glorifying him, and spreading the good news! It was so great to get out there tonight and go evangelizing and it is such a good feeling. SO lets get on fire for Christ and not get lazy or sluggish!
Great comment, especially the part of not hiding in shame when he comes. That’s so inspiring!
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne
What an example are these souls who have been killed for the sake of the gospel! This makes me think about 2 Timothy 3:12, “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” Just like Bobby talked about a few weeks ago, if America was persecuting Christians and dragging them off to jail, would I be one who they persecuted or would they walk right past? I need to make sure I am living 100% for Jesus Christ. Always seeking to represent the gospel!
6 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
People think they are all that. They think they can defy God and live. Someday they will see. When God begins to pour out his wrath on the earth man will realize who is really in control. This is so scary. God pouring out his wrath on the earth. There will come a point when the last person is saved and God is ready to judge the earth for the thousands of years of evil. I serve a holy God that cannot stand sin and one day he will judge the world for that sin. That is so scary! This gives me urgency to spread the gospel even more. Talk to more people about Christ. I don’t want anyone I know to have to suffer the wrath of God.
Reading over verses 12 – 17, you definitely get a clear and astonishing view into the level of destruction and fear that will be inflicted upon the Earth in the final days of Judgment!
And with people preferring to die rather than face our God’s Judgment, we can see that living for God at all times is incredibly important! Because if we are caught living against God and His commands when He brings down Judgment upon the Earth, we will have no choice but to face the punishing and eternal consequences!
this is an intense chapter that opens the eyes to the wrath of God. i am so glad that God has saved me from these events that are to come from the seals. the sky rolled up, mountains disappearing, and the stars falling from the sky like fruit from a tree! God is not just a loving God that he is made to be too often, he loves us but there will also be wrath for those who do not become his children
16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
There is one thing thing that is outrageously evident in this chapter: God’s wrath is seriously terrible. He is so powerful, and this is talking about him taking it out on the earth.. I want to fear God because of his wrath and power, as well as have reverence for him because of his holiness and perfection. I want to have a fear of him that causes me to stay away from sin, making war against it with every last ounce of being that I have.
This is just sad…i just imagine if this happened today. It seems so real because of all these natural diasters today and how the earth cries out…in the future it’ll be even worse.
for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”
The wrath of God is going to be horrible especially for those who are not Christians. Its so important that I go out and spread the gospel and warn them of the horrible future that some will have. I also need to encourage others to do the same because they are God’s vessels. Sometimes I just feel so overwhelmed with compassion and I cant stand just standing around one of my friends whom I havent shared the gospel with. I praise the Lord for giving me that longing and push to share the gospel and in doing this my life can be focused on the Him. I dont want anyone experiecing eternal damnation so thats whats makes me go out and tell people, even if they mock me. There will be no mercy because it will be too late for some, and I cant let opportunites slip by me.
12 When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, 13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale.
These verses just got me thinking about the power of the Lord. He can control EVERYTHING! Sometimes we take for granted His creation: the rhythmic ocean waves, sunsets… We neglect to praise our God who created this beautiful universe and who controls everything at every moment of the day!
Revelation 6
7 When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8 And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth.
These verses are a sobering reminder to us of the impending judgment that will befall the unbeliever. Destruction and death will come upon the Earth. If we are endowed with compassion from God just as Christ was compassionate on us we should desire to save the non-believers from this certain fate. This is why Christ commanded to us the Great Commission of evangelizing His Gospel. This is definitely a great warning that should spur us on to action.
I pray that we make a great final push for the Gospel this week culminating with the celebration of the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior this Easter. I pray that many will come and hear and many will come to repent and put their faith in Jesus Christ.
I too, like Pastor Bobby, agree that verses 9 to 11 were very interesting. Although I think it’s a bit morbid how they said “how long before you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on earth?”, it’s nice to know that God will take care of those who have persecuted us for our faith, to put it lightly ^_^. I don’t know if this is a bad thing but if the time came between life and death, I hope I would have the strenght to let whoever was persecuting kill me because – I hope- I would be with Christ! So it’s worth it, I think.
In this chapter, which so far is a lot about God’s wrath, I am glad that I can realize that Jesus is there, who is loving and understands how our heavenly father can be scary.
I think that this chapter today was very interesting!!!!!!
Maranatha
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the witness they had borne. 10 They cried out with a loud voice, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11 Then they were each given a white robe and told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers should be complete, who were to be killed as they themselves had been.
This is an eye-opening chapter! It makes me realize the complete control that God has over everyone and every thing! God is omnipotent! This verse is important to me because it shows the people that have died for God! There faith was so strong to die undoubtedly for Christ who they had never seen! This is inspiring to me and gives me more faith in God! I pray that my faith will grow in Christ and that I will be ready for the day of judgment!
