Prologue
1:1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2 who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. 3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
Greeting to the Seven Churches
4 John to the seven churches that are in Asia:
Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth.
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood 6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Vision of the Son of Man
9 I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet 11 saying, “Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.”
12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. 14 The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, 15 his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades. 19 Write therefore the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this. 20 As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. (ESV)

ELLO… I read
I like verse 17,”When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last,”
I like this verse because it tells what Paul does when he sees JESUS. He falls on his face as though he is dead. This shows just how amazing JESUS is and how much power HE has and how much HE gave up to save us. HE has done so much for us and gave up so much to save me I need to make sure my focus in life is to serve HIM. I need to make sure that everyone knows about HIM because one day everyone will confess JESUS is LORD and they will either be saying it praising the LORD or they will be saying it knowing their doom.
CYA
Tanner, this is AWESOME! That song, “Facedown,” that Pastor Bobby turned our fancy onto a few weeks ago (yep, I said it. Turned our fancy onto. I don’t know why. This is just how my brain WORKS!!!) played in my heart all through me reading this chapter. What Pastor Lucas said yesterday about those, “Jesus is my Homeboy,” T-shirts? He is NOT our Homeboy. He is our GOD. He is our SAVIOR. He is our MASTER, our EVERYTHING. And His power is incomprehensible. EVERY single life ever granted and intended by God will fall facedown in worship. It’s almost unfathomable…
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
To me, this verse just makes me happy!! All the tongues that are cursing and mocking my Lord today, will eventually praise His name, with no doubt I know this. But, as much as it makes me happy, it kind of makes me sad because I want them to be on God’s side praising Jesus with happiness and joy! Not on Satan’s side, praising Jesus with sorrow and remorse. And I know that I haven’t shared the Gospel with these people. What if they would get it and change their lives? So, this is what I’m going to do: I am going to pray to the Lord for the boldness, words, and opportunities to speak to everyone I can about the Gospel and its saving power. I know that if I’m going out there and doing what God is commanding me to do, I will be blessed and bless others, but only with the Spirit residing in me.
Maranatha!!
Nicole, THIS is awesome, TOO! I just got down on the knees of my heart for you, and joined you in your prayer. May we ALL set ourselves aside and submit ourselves to our holy God in love by obedience.
Amen to this Nicole! Last time I prayed for opportunities, God gave me PLENTY! Excited to see what He does with you!
Awesome to do list! likewise/me too
mmmm Maranatha is right! :D
Wow…praise God! Legit comment, keep submitting to our Lord and Savior and He will do things through you that are glorious!
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last,
I think about this every time that we sing Facedown by Matt Redman. Here on the island of Patmos, as John is left there deserted, he is receiving revelations of God over what will happen in the ends times. One of the first things he sees is the son of man in all of his brilliance. And John has no other response to what he sees. He falls down and his face is lying flat into the ground, as though he was dead. What we know about Jesus Christ makes him so amazing. Yet his full glory is still yet to be revealed! When he returns the second time, he won’t be coming as a man, but as who he truly is, and all his glory will be revealed!
Though I cannot see Jesus Christ right now in his glory and brilliance, for who he truly is, I need to worship and praise him for what I do know about him. And I can’t take this worship loosely or casually. I am worshiping the Almighty God who humbled himself to be as lowly as a man, bearing the sins of the world and being forsaken by the Father as he died on the cross. I think that if I spend more time reflecting on who Jesus really is and all that he has done, my worship will be taken to a higher level. I need to be falling facedown in awe of his awesome glory. I am so unworthy, but still God loves me. So forever I must sing of how great he is! Let’s all join in worshiping our awesome God with such fear and amazement that all we can do is fall facedown in his glory!
This is an INTENSE description of Jesus! He is no longer the afflicted servant as He was when He came to die on the cross, now He is depicted here in His glory! And this isn’t even all of it! Just this picture gets me pumped up to fall down at Jesus’ feet in heaven. Verses like these remind me of a question Pastor Mike sometimes asks, “When you get to heaven, will your view of God go down, or up?” Obviously, our view of God will go up, as evidenced by descriptions like we have in Revelation 1. There is no way that on earth we can have a view of God that is accurate. But I still need to strive for it! I praying that these few verses would motivate me to live a with a maranatha mindset! I am excited to see Jesus and worship Him forever at His feet!
Mmmm Solid comment bro great point!
The description of Christ is so intense in Revelation! Many people view God as only loving, but this chapter describes him with eyes that are like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. From his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength. After reading this chapter in Revelation the first time before, I don’t think I have ever thought of Jesus being like this! I always thought about maybe what he looked like, but this is a perfect and intense description. I need to view Jesus for who he really is and I pray that I will always have a high perspective and view of him. He is so holy, perfect, and deserves my absolute best! All the glory goes to the Lord, and one day everyone is going to know that and confess that Jesus is Lord!!!! I pray that I will be bold and courageous when talking to other people and that I will describe Jesus for who he is and how many attributes he has, because there are way more than just Love. Maranatha!
Rev 1:11 saying, “Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.”
Now the Book is here, complete and authoritative. It is frightening and thrilling depending on your point of view. How will we respond to the message? By placing God is His proper place and turning to His leadership completely or ignoring what we can’t see? Listen and do what the word says! Lord, please come soon!
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
I love Revelations its such an awesome book with so many things to get us psyched out of our minds!!
This verse was really cool to me. It is so awesome and encouraging to know that the God who rules everything and has complete and absolute control over everything and is completely sustaining the world every moment is going to come back to earth and EVERYONE will know that he is God and fall down at his feet as though dead!
The description of God is also soooo awesome and just gives me the chills to know that everyone will see Him. Also we will live with Him for eternity in the new Jerusalem! God is coming back so soon and we need to be doing His work when he returns not be messing around on earth when He comes. After that description I am totally pumped to do Gods work even more!
Cool! Red lettering! Anyways…
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.
Seeing Jesus like this made John fall down like he passed out! Wow it must have been scary. But Jesus says that he shouldn’t be afraid. He straight up says He is God, and that He died but rose again and conquered death. He pretty much just summed up the entire gospel in one sentance. Jesus is God, but He chose to die a horrible death to take on punishment. But He didn’t let death stop Him, He rose from the grave 3 days later and came back and said “booyah!” That is so amazing! As Easter is coming up soon, it’s the perfect time to be telling people this good news!
yes, we shall spread it like wild fire!!!
20 “As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.”
Jesus is still so incredibly enduring of us, that He backs it up and tells John exactly what is up with all the unusual imagery and representation. How often do we receive something from the Lord that we just AREN’T GETTING. But He is faithful and patient. And He has taken time and love, and He has called people to risk their human lives, that we might know exactly what His messages to us are, by giving us His Word, and preserving it over thousands of years. And all WE have to do, is get off our lazy bums and READ it, to know what His message to us IS. And then we have a choice to make: will we tuck it into the caverns of our minds and hearts…? Or will we grope for and cling to the Holy Spirit, to guide us into putting His Word into ACTION…? Every day is a new day.
If you woke up this morning, then this means that GOD HAS MORE GOODNESS THAT HE IS CALLING US TO LIVE OUT. One of the women in my Bible Study shared this perspective with our group last year. And taking the cue, I programmed the calendar on my phone to remind me, every morning at 6AM, that, “God didn’t take me LAST night, which means He has MORE for me to do TODAY…Lord, use me as You will–to love, as YOU love ME.” And may I not just throw His truth out there like a bunch of uninterpretable symbolism and leave it to the people He calls me to share His Gospel with. May I take the time and the heart to help bring clarity. And more importantly, may I be mindfully on my knees, praying that GOD would remove the scales from their eyes, so that they will know and understand, and that their hearts might be penetrated and pierced to the point of repentance and faith.
16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.
Verses 13-16 are an intense description of what Jesus looks like as the glorified Lord. Not very similar to the “gentle Jesus, meek and mild” picture we have of him in our minds. Verse 16 stood out to me the most because the picture of Jesus with a sharp, two-edged sword coming out of His mouth blows me away. The sword is the Word of God, which searches hearts and judges rebels. Jesus is going to return with His Word, and to think that I have access to this Word right now, in my very home, is awesome. I am going to be ready for Jesus’ return because I am living by the Word that He has given us. The Word is so important to Jesus that He brings it with Him when He returns to earth for the second time. It makes me committed to His Word even more. To read and study it daily, to memorize it, to meditate on Its truth. Lord, please help me to continue to make Your Word the priority in my life. No matter how tired I am, how busy I am, please help me to remember how important Your Word is to You and make it that important to me.
How cool it would be to see Jesus right now. Describing Him here just makes me want to see Him even more, to go to Heaven. With a a long robe and a golden sash, and the hairs on his head like white wool. He just sounds so amazing so beautiful.
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
Before starting this chapter, I was already aware of how rich and sometimes confusing this book is! Then I read this verse which says that those who hear it and keep what is written in it are blessed. That made me see how important it was that I read this book as a Christian so that I can see exactly what will happen in the future and how awesome it will be when Christ returns and every tongue confesses that Jesus is Lord! It even gives us a reason why its important to know whats in this book: because the time is near. Jesus is coming back SOON, and he wants us to know what will happen so that we can warn others of it in a specific way. I was so convicted by both Pastor Lucas’ and Pastor Bobby’s sermons this weekend, and now this chapter! I really need to get on my evangelizing because I know that I have plenty of opportunities and am not utilizing them!
Good Morning!!!
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Our Mighty Lord!
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.
WOW. I really like these two verses. :) Starting in verse 17…when I saw him…I fell at his feet as though dead. He fell at his feet, as though dead. He fell FACEDOWN. This verse really reminds me about the power and true strength of our Lord Jesus..the rest of this verse and verse 18 are also really interesting verses, we are told not to fear, He is the first and the last, the living one. He died and yet he is alive forevermore and he has the keys of Death and Hades. WOW. Not only is he so amazingly powerful, but man, HE IS AWESOME! I know that we constantly say how amazing God is…and how he is Mighty to Save…but he REALLY is. “So I’ll stand, my soul Lord to you surrendered. All I am is yours.”
ALL I AM IS YOURS.
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
Revelations. What an intense book! I have some what read it before but it was sort of confusing. So here we go again. I liked this verse because it shows that we need to be in the Word and hear it and speak it and spread it. BECAUSE Jesus is coming soon and we need to let others know and not be selfish. My goal is to spread the news and Christ’s gospel. In Pastor Lucas’s sermon he talked about getting out there and using every opportunity. Including those who come to your door. I need to get that gospel out there.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
All the attibutes of what Jesus looked like was cool and amazing but also a little frightning. Jesus is SO holy that John FELL on his knees, as if dead. GOD is the Alpha and Omega and I shouldn’t ever forget it. I need to serve Him everyday with no questions asked, because He has a purpose. :]
***Oh PRAISE the ONE who PAID my DEPT & RAISED this LIFE up from the DEAD!!!***
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last,
If the Apostle John, one of the closest friends of Jesus here on earth, fell at His feet as though dead…everyone should hold Jesus in awe and fall down before Him even WHILE we’re on earth. Jesus is Holy, perfect, and powerful. While He is my savior and maker, He’s not my “buddy” and I need to remember to revere Him at all times.
“to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever.” Like the prologue said, “the time is near,” I want to give my all because of His grace, and then when Jesus comes not be ashamed, but confident that I did what God’s Word says. I need to keep on reading the Bible!!!!!!!Thank you Jesus for Your love.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
God is the uncaused cause. His name “I AM” (first revealed in Exodus 3:14) means to be. He is the only self-existent one in the universe who was, is, and is to come. He is the Creator of everything we see and don’t see (Colossians 1:16). If I acknowledge a Creator than I must accept that he retains the rights over my life. He is the one in charge, he makes and enforces his rules, and thus I am ultimately accountable to Him. This is exactly the reason why people want to suppress the truth about God being the Creator (Romans 1:18-20) and believe in evolution. If we look at the facts, they overwhelming point to a Creator. The reason to deny a Creator is not based on scientifice grounds but on the grounds of people wanting to do what they want and not being answerable to God for their actions.
Super interesting comment! Your totally right though….that is why people have a problem admiting that God created them, because they have to submit to Him because of it. I am totally using that point next time I talk to people who believe that God created them, but don’t obey Him.
I am so happy God has given you the knowledge to teach and lead others! I know I am not the only one who has learned a lot from you Dan! You have made a huge difference in not only my life, but other people too. I have seen it firsthand. DONT STOP DOING WHAT YOU DO!
Revelations, we are finally here! I’ve been anticipating reading this! I want to know what the future will be like and what’s going to take place!
I’m feeling so revived right now!
Revelation 1:12-16
12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. 14 The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, 15 his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.
It makes me think when I meet the Lord, how great of an experience that will be. I wonder if I fall facedown like John did. I’ll see Jesus exalted, I’ll see Jesus face to face. I can’t wait for the first conversation. I can’t believe the cross, it’s crazy. I’ve been reading everyday on here about Jesus and His kingdom. I’ve said no to all the things that I can please myself in this world, I’ve been trying my whole life to obey His commands. I’ve spent a lot of time for this, I want to experience it!
This description reveals the true beauty of Christ and his holiness!Revelation is an awesome chapter (and in my opinion the most intense) because it is scary in many parts yet amazing too. I recently was reminded that in Spanish this chapter of the Bible is called “Apocalipsis”, as in Apocalypse or the time of the Rapture. In telling about the future, Revelation is very much about what will happen on earth to those who are “left behind” (such a good series…I used to read the kid series when I was young) but it also speaks of the overwhelming holiness of God and how we as Christians will be unable to speak upon first seeing Christ. Revelation gets me so excited for Heaven and the Rapture, and I hope that this Easter I can share with others the Gospel so I can explain to them about the Rapture too :)
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last,
I cannot wait for the day when I get to be with my savior and I get to see him face to face!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to remember that Christ is larger than anything. I need to not fear men!!!! This is a struggle in my life. I am so afraid of what people think of me!!! I pray that I cannot fear men but fear God!!!!
MARANATHA
5 and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth.
This verse made me think about how Jesus was the first one to rise from the dead….physically I mean! He was able to survive the torment of Hell and He came to His people with NOTHING against them…I didn’t start thinking about that till today. He came back to Earth to prove that He was the Lord…He didn’t say anything to them about how it was all their fault that He had to die and go there…..hmmmmmmm that just shows how humble and awesome the Lord is…it makes me think of today and my drivingness….Tyler, III should’ve been more patient with you…sorry! You’re still an awesome dude. Anyways…I seek humbleness…I seek the Lord! MARANATHA! :)
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
This is a good verse bcause it is true that God is king of everything. We need to make sure and always honor his position by not going against his will.
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last,
I cannot wait to see Jesus. I know that it’s going to be so awesome that these words don’t do it justice. I need to keep this in my mind to remind myself of the God i am serving
Even so. Amen.
I really loved these verses! I love verse 7 reading that all eyes will see Him even those who have rejected him! This makes me want to tell people and give them the good news, because like this verse says everyone will see him and it will be to late. It is just amazing to me and I cannot imagine every single person will see him even those who chose not to believe.
Yes! Revelation!! This book is soooo awesome! I liked verses 14-16 because I loved the way John described Jesus here. It is so intense, and very descriptive! If someone thinks that this book was written by a crazy person, they are very wrong! How could someone make this up?? The way John describes Jesus here is just so descriptive, it is most definitly real indeed! If you listen to this part of the chapter, and close your eyes to imagine it, it is extremely awesome! At first I can see why non Christians can be doubtful about this book, but this description is a great opening to Revelation, and I’m sure there will be many more intense descriptions as well!
7 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.
Verse 7- Our first response when we see Jesus will be to fall facedown at his feet! And John was known as “the disciple Jesus loved”- this was one of his “friends!” I can’t imagine power like that… but I am still so excited to be in the presence of Jesus, especially knowing that he loves me and won’t give me the punishment I deserve! I also love what Jesus says, telling John not to be afraid because he is in COMPLETE control… I love that! Our God is SO good!!!
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
I really like this verse, to me it is just showing how important the bible is. The the bible can tell us what is going to happen and just all about God and what he has done for us. It just tells us in the end of this verse that it is important to know what it says and to be ready because the end is near.
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
This verse stood out to me especially the part where is says, “the time is near.” It is bitter sweet to know God is coming back. Its sweet more like amazing and awesome to know God is coming back to take us christians up to heaven forever. But, its sad to know so may people going to hell. I could name over 100 people that are most likely going to hell, and its sad to know that even though I try to tell them of the gospel, they dont listen. The only thing we can do is pray. I also need to be ready. Live every day likes its my last, and not letting an operatunity pass us in sharing the great news. Im excited to go to heaven, because heaven is our true home!!! :D
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
It seems like so many people in this age dont want to follow God because they dont want to have that commitment and want to go to God when their older. This is a very foolish thing because what if we die tomorrow? Also, as this verse says, the kingdom of God is near. It says right here that blessed are those who speak of God coming and of Jesus’ death and resurection. God says that those who choose to follor God before the raptrue are blessed becuase they believed somthing that they could not yet see the full on glory of. I know that if I was a Christian, then saw the all mighty power of God during the rapture I would do what ever it took to go to Heaven. But God says that I am blessed for following after Him now. I want others to be blessed so that either, they dont die befor that rapture and have to suffer in hell, or be able to have that gift from God. Telling people about God is NOT a choice, its a commandment, and I have to be following that commandment. Also, if I truely have that love of God in me, I will want to tell others. Its the best story out their, so why arnt I going around telling it to everyone? It seems like everyday I have this little story to tell people about somthing crazy that happend to me the previous day, or just recently. My little stories are nothing compared to the story of Jesus’ death and resurection, and also my own story of becoming a Christianl. Sure maybe some people wont want to hear it, but its my job to tell them under any circumstances. Jesus is coming and I have to get out their and tell eveyone I possibly can.
Go Kelsey!!!
yeahhhh girl!!!!
I read…
I loved the end of the chapter because it gives us a vivid depiction of Jesus in His glorified state. So many people view Jesus with the wrong perspective, not acknowledging His divine power. I pray that we would be telling others about God in His powerful and glorified state instead of the watered-down person that the world wants to believe about Him.
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last
I am so excited when the day comes when I get to fall at His feet facedown and worship Him! I can’t wait!
Okay, right now I’m liking how Jesus explained the symbolism. Makes it easy to understand.
Start of the book; you have your setting, characters, and plot. Jesus Christ is the main character who is described with powerful words such as: voice like the roaring of the ocean, Alpha and Omega, eyes were like a flame of fire, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength. The setting is John is taken away and sent off to Patmos because of the gospel. An interesting point is that John didn’t write that like it was a bad thing but an awesome thing. He says how he is our “brother and partner in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus” Last, the plot is about the 7 churches of the area: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea. Para mi, the most powerful verse in this entire chapter is verse 18. Jesus exclaims that even though he died he was resurrected and now has the “keys of Death and Hades”. Jesus triumphed over death! That’s the whole reason why we celebrate Easter. My prayer after reading this chapter is to keep my mind thinking on Jesus’ glory and the cost it took to gain that glory. If I do this I know that I will start living in a more godly manner.
I find my highest joy in life by bringing God glory.
Great to see you on SOTD, Jonny! Keep it up!
yeaahhhh jonny! good comment(:
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
I can’t wait for the day that our Lord will come! It is so amazing that all Gods people, enemies, and everyone else will bow at his sight and will see the truth that God is the way to heaven and He is in fact the truth.
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.
17: Falling at the feet of our Lord is the greatest honor anyone would dream of! The Lord is the truth, the first and the last to come! He died and rose again and he will always be here for eternity! I pray that I will be with Him in heaven for eternity!
wow, this chapter makes me want to read more. I love how John just falls on his face out of shock. I am excited to read the next one tommorrow.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Alpha and Omega mean beginning and end…I guess.
Well some people (many atheist) see God as always existing as a problem. They just cannot fathom how God has always been there….for eternity.
Funny thing is that I use the point argument in a sense all to prove how God is the best explanation for the universe. Many atheist believe that the universe is eternal, and that is how it got there. However, if it is eternal, it has an infinite past, and infinity brings up a lot of contradictions.
For example:
infinity+infinity=infinity
infinity-infinity=0
infinity-5=infinity
In other words, infinity is only a concept understood by the human mind.
When I say this, then many people will counter, “Then doesn’t that also prove your God wrong? Don’t you guys believe that God has existed forever.”
Wrong. That only eliminate a God who has endured an infinite past. The God we believe in and know to be true has created time. He is timelessness, and transcends time.
This is what the verse is talking about when he says he was the alpha, which means “beginning.” He was there when literally nothing else existed. Even time! Now that’s pretty awesome.
MMMMMM This is a legiT chapter! I’m excited to read through Revelation every day!
18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.
This verse is just epic! Jesus has died but is alive FOREVER! This is just so awesome because through His death and resurrection, we can experience this new life (or something like it) and be in Heaven one day with our God. And this excites me! I can’t wait to be in Heaven, worshipping my God for eternity because he deserves it! Through God a lone I am saved and He deserves my life given to Him. I pray that I would be living out this way every day. MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.
———————————————–
7)that God is coming back and everyone will see him ,everyone will bow down and praise him even thoes who cursed his name and made fun of him.
That Jesus did die, but the rose from the dead and he will live forever and always and more.
Great comment Bri!
16 in his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength
Wow! What a verse. This scared me a little! I never pictured Jesus like this. I always picture him as he is depicted in most artwork, with his brown hair and common-like clothes. This definitely makes me realize that when he comes again, he will come in GLORY! I don’t want him to repremand me for the bad things I have done in my life but for the good.
I am really excited to read the book of Revelation! I’ve always wanted to but haven’t had the self determination. But I’m looking forward to these next 22 days!
I also am going to try to come on SOTD every morning before I go to school so that I can have something to motivate me to be extra good!
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
T-John writes mainly to the churches in Asia, a revealing of Jesus Christ as the ultimate Lord
A-This amazing chapter describes Jesus how He really appears in His full, entire glory, which totally has never been what I imagined. We all need to realize that this is how Christ is meant to be seen, and how awesome and overwhelming it would be to stand in that kind of a presence.
N-I have always had one of those cartoon drawings in my head when I pictured Jesus, not with a sword in his mouth and flames in His eyes. That dictates almighty power, and I need to implant this fantastic image in my brain, because it enhances my vision of the power and glory of God. Changing my perspective on how Jesus looks really changes my view on how important it is to bring people to Him, that He has the power to do good, but has an almighty wrath too.
Annie, I love that you are using the TAN method that is awesome!
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
everyone is going to see him and they will all confess that he is God, but it will be to late
c u all later
I love how Revelation starts out telling us that the time that Jesus will be returning is near. If back then, it was considered to be “near” then just think of how soon he is to coming back now!
Maranatha!!!!
Also, I was thinking about how Pastor Bobby was talking to us awhile ago about how Jesus will look (quite possibly) passed on the passage that says his eyes are like fire. That sounds pretty scary to me, but hey, to just be in his presence will be totally overwhelming!!
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
This is a great verse because we have to have an urgency for the LORD. We know that he is coming and that he will judge, and yet we continue to live luke warm lives for him. It’s difficult to anticipate his coming because so long has past since he came, but he will return. No matter what, we need to live for him.
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood
I loved this verse today because it states that he loves everyone of us and states that HE freed us from sin. He has given up his life in the place of our sins and he was put through the painfullest pain ever imagined. With knowing that we shall give him the highest praise and respect and live in his word. We shall educate those who are uneducated and glorify God!!!!!
QUESTION!!! What does John mean when he says, ” I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day”.. i dont get the whole “I was in the Spirit” thing.
Okay anywayss… (:
3 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest.
WOW!! No one has ever seen Jesus in his full glory (except John of course). I cannot wait until the day I will see Christ Jesus shining brighter than the sun! He is going to be so powerful and radiant that all I will be able to do is fall flat on my face and worship him!!! Revelation 1:17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead.
MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m praying for the your preaching tomorrow! Preach it boldly. I’m excited :)
Good question Mady! Umm, I’m no expert, but I think John is talking about dwelling in the Spirit spiritually, not literally. So maybe he was dreaming or praying. The Lord’s day could just mean on the sabbath (sat), or Sunday. Hmm, the little mysteries of this chapter just make me love it even more! Great comment! <3
Hey Jessica, my study Bible says it was on Sunday. John MacArthur explains that “the phrase appears in many early Christian writings and refers to Sunday, the day of the Lord’s resurrection.” :)
I’m with Spency on this one! Praying for awesomeness on you campus!
Hey Mady, I have the answer to your question! In my John MacArthur study Bible it says that “In the Spirit” means he was “supernatural transported out of the material world awake-not sleeping-to an experience beyond the normal senses. The Holy Spirit empowered his senses to perceive revelation from God (cf, Ac 10:11)” Hope this helps!
i am thankfull God let Jesus come to earth to die for our sins because now i know what it really meant about the death of Jesus.
Praise the Lord!!
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
The lord is so great. often i say things in bible class like “He is the Alpa nad the Omega”, “the beginning and the end” but it is said with a sense of commonality. This really means the the Lord is almighty and al powerful and has control over everything. He is outside of time, and knows all that has and is going to happen in our lives. This brings be back to Him in that i need to look to Him in everything, because He is all powerful and omnipresent. So i need to work on looking to Him and focusing on the fact that He will guide me and help me.
Reminds me of Pastor Lucas’ sermon this weekend. I’m praying for you Jacob!
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
Such great Scripture!
I feel that this verse reassures that I need to get out the Gospel to the world! In the sense that everyone should know, and those who are willing should listen! That we should confront our friends, and hold each other accountable in Christ. So that we may have innocence against the world and the power of God on our side!
Revelation 1:17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last,
John had a personal relationship with Jesus, yet he fell down at the presence of His glory… how phenomenal! God is SO much more powerful and awesome and wonderful than I can even imagine! I can not wait to see Him face to face!!! God deserves my praise and adoration! I need to make it my goal to praise God every day for all of the wonderful attributes He has, and what a Great God He is!
I love this verse too!
“…the time is near” (Rev. 1:3).
Maranatha! (Come O Lord)!
The sheer imminence of our Lord’s return should have us at feverish preparation. I can’t stand still. My friends have not repented yet, and that, I refuse to idle while their souls are condemned to Hell. The day is nearer. My time will be consumed with ambition to make the most of the opportunities I am given; days, hours, minutes, none of them can go to waste.
The variable of relaxing, laziness, or taking a vacation isn’t a matter, because those who I know and love are not on God’s team, they aren’t hopeful of heaven.
The book of Revelations is a book of prophecy, namely unfilled prophecy, prophecy that is to come true in the future, namely the near future. So Jesus’ return, while favorable for those who are Christians, is of destruction and eternal death for those on the side of Satan.
My heart breaks knowing that several people I know are, as of this time, are claiming their own agony by not responding to the Gospel. The stakes are high! And I am praying for salvation for many people at San Clemente High School. God is able.
Let’s live out Romans 1:16 this week:
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”
Pray for Mady Adler, preaching at San Clemente tomorrow!
Maranatha!
14 The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire,
15 his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters.
16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.
Jesus’ description is so intense, that its like the sun or one of those really big stars exploded and too much light is emanating from him, and there isnt any darkness at all where he’s at…at the moment. God’s glory is so sawsome and yet it’s sad that not many people can see it. its like that one passage in matthew, maybe where there was a blind guy and Jesus healed his sight by spuuing mud on his eye.
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, ”
Wow, I love Revelation! It is so exciting that we are finally reading the book about the FUTURE! Kewl! It is so enrapturing to read about what will happen in the time of the rapture:) I would be frightened like John too. John was very close to Jesus, yet he still trembles and falls at the sight of Him—because He is God! God is so holy, amazing and wonderful beyond imagination. I can’t wait to fall at His feet, as scary as it may be. I love how Jesus comforts and reassures John not to be afraid. This reminds me how the one we should fear is God, as John does, not men. I would be speechless at the sight of my Lord standing with eyes like fire, a sword out of his mouth, and bronze feet….much more terrifying and awesome than some mortal, wimpy human being with ordinary clothing and features. I am so excited to celebrate Easter and Jesus’ resurrection, as well as his second coming! While the Rapture seems fascinating and exciting to me, for non-Christians it will be frightening and confusing. I need to share not only the Resurrection with others during this important time, but also the exciting things that will come during the Apocalypse:)
What an intense intro! It’s always incredible to consider what the Lord will look like and to know that all will fall before Him and his glory and and authority. I love verse 7: “Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.” Reading the description of Christ coming with the clouds gets me excited about His return. Maranatha! Even though Christ’s majesty is so awesome and fearful it makes John fall facedown, I’m so encouraged by Christ’s first, simple words: “Fear not, I am the first and the last…” I should never be afraid in life because I can rest on that amazing assurance. God is the first and He will be the last! As Christians we can live boldly knowing that we are on the winning side! Christ is the the living one, who died, and is alive forevermore, and has the keys of Death and Hades.
But he laid his right hand on me
I love how these verse show us what Jesus looks like. Most people think of Jesus as a loving person not someone with a two edged sord coming out of his mouth. This verse shows me that I must fear my savor because if Paul a man that was righteous fell at his feet as though dead then I am going to. Also the verses encourage me to be thankful that I have a forgiving and powerful God that is on my side so who can be against me ?
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
I love Revelation! It is amazing to think that everyone who rejects the gospel and persecutes Christians will ALL fall to their knees and their tongues will proclaim that Jesus is Lord, just like Philippians 2:9-11 says. I cannot wait for that Day to come!! MARANATHA!!
WOW that is what I call a beginning to a new, VERY INTENSE chapter!! Jesus receives all the glory (and i mean ALL of it from every nation and tongue) and he is finally revealed to his people who are awaiting his return!! CAN YOU SAY MARANATHA?!?! MMMM this is good stuff!! I can’t wait until that day when I fall down in his presence!! :D
Looking at how John describes God in such seamingly unrealistic ways, I’m reminded of what one of the speakers at the prophecy conference said about it!–that John really has no idea what he is seeing! This appearance of Jesus was like nothing he has ever seen before, and we can see by this vague description of what he saw that it was obviously too great to fully convey with words.
We do see his reaction though–of how he fell on his face upon witnessing the fullness of the glory of God. And while his description didn’t do a great job of portraying the situation, his reaction did.
I think we’re in for a surprise. d;- D
Let’s take a look on what Jesus will look like when we see Him….
13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest.
Alrighty then!!!! This is definitely a different picture of Jesus than I usually have! He isn’t the baby Jesus we celebrate, He isn’t the young Jesus we read about as a carpenter, He isn’t the Jesus who is on the cross, He isn’t the resurected Jesus, He isn’t the Jesus we picture acending into Heaven anymore. HE ISN’T ANY OF THESE THINGS ANYMORE. It’s important to remember and think about all the things he has done and who he was….but the point is that he isn’t the Jesus we visualize on a regular basis. He is a perfect white figure glowing with holiness, and with flaming eyes. His voice is so powerful that it is louder than all the rushing waters put together. This is only a few things that describe Jesus. I cant wait to see Him! His AWESOMENESS is going to blow me away, and I anxiously await that day. I hope everyone who reads this chapter will take the time to think about the mind-blowing Jesus that is vividly discribed in these few lines. Revelation is heckasweetightness!
AMAZING! I am so stoked to be blown away by Jesus. When i get to thinking about his heckasweetightness, I am so thankful and in awe of what he did for me, yet so excited to see him again and be with him for eternity!
Great comment, really encouraging!!!
Dito!
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
No matter what people on this earth believe they will all get to see the glory of God one day. One day everybody will bow down before the Lord. This day will be a day of horror for many people that did not know the Lord. Personally, I am so fired up for the day in which I will get to see God in His glory.
What an amazing image of the Lord, our God! Why would we not want to live to serve him?! Jesus Christ, in all his power and glory, gave himself to save us. He was dead and now he is alive forever and he loves us. Praise Him!
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
We have precious little time left until Easter, which will be one of the greatest evangelistic opportunities we ever have as Christians. Therefore, we should not be letting an opportunity to speak the Gospel pass us by! We know that Christ died for our sins, but also that He rose again, and that He is coming back to reign one day! This should make us more excited than anything else, and we should be eager to tell everyone we know about this! I need to make the most of the weeks before Easter to be bold in carrying the Name of Jesus to Laguna Hills HIgh School!
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood 6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
We are forever in Christ’s debt. He had no reason to die for us for we should have taken the punishment for our own sins. Instead He bore the pain of all of those who have sinned and He recieved the ultimate punishment, He was without the presence of the LORD for all the time that He bore our sins. Without God we are nothing and Christ took that pain for us so we could remain in His presence if we so choose to be. We need to remember to praise and thank God daily for His act of mercy.
Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
I was interested in reading Revelation, but after reading this verse I got pumped! The commentary in my study Bible says that this is the only book that comes with a blessing like this! But there is a crucial part to it that I need to keep in focus…”keep what is written in it”. The NASB trades “heed” in for “keep”, so I am going to make sure that I heed the warnings in this book so that i can receive the full blessing and be ready to meet my Maker!
Wow how I would give anything to be John in this very moment. To see Jesus in all his glory would be the ultimate thing that words cannot describe. This chapter makes me think of one thing…I want Jesus to come back so that I can meet him face to face in Heaven!
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
This is so encouraging to know that every person that has ever persecuted me or called me a Jesus Freak (which happens a lot) will some day bow down at the sight of Jesus Christ in all his glory as though DEAD. They will finally realize what I was trying to tell them these past years! And now just that, but wow am I excited to see Jesus in all his glory. ALL GLORY, HONOR, POWER IS HIS AMEN!!!!
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades
Christ was always in existence and he will always be in existence. He created the Earth and will see its destruction. Jesus is so much bigger than any human could imagine and so much more powerful than people think. He was ~dead~ but now He will live forever and ever. Not only all of that, but He also has the “keys of Death and Hades,” meaning He is above death and it is because of Him that we can live forever with Him! He is so so amazing and I can’t wait to see more of Him in Revelation.
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
this is awesome! i cant wait for the day that He will return!!! MARANATHA!!! i need to keep a maranatha mindset allways. i should expect Him to return every day. i cant wait!
MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so excited to be reading through Revelation! The end of this world is coming, and the book of Revelation gives me encouragement to know that very soon Jesus will return in all His glory! I love the description of Jesus towards the end of this passage; it is a picture of Jesus that most people don’t think of. When it says, “his face was like the sun shining in full strength,” this really hit me. I won’t even be able to look at Jesus straight on because He will be so brilliant in all His majesty! I cannot wait to fall face down before my mighty Savior!
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
One day, everyone will see Jesus. We will all stand before the judgement seat of Christ and it will either be a joyous day, or a mournful day. This verse reminds me of Romans 12:11 where it says that “every knee shall bow” and that every tongue will confess the name of Jesus Christ. I am praying everyday for Jesus to return soon!
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.
It really hit me when Pastor Bobby said this weekend that John would just like hang out with Jesus and was like bestfriends with him but when he saw him in his real body, he fell to the ground. I cant imagine seeing him, but i cant wait!! Its also a very real thing reading that he has the keys of Death and Hades and that he controls that!
It gives us a pretty good description here in this chapter of what Jesus will look like when he returns. I used to think of him as just how everyone puts him in the movies, a big beard, long hair, mustache, and wearing a white robe. Jesus is going to be different than that!! Like Jeff said, he is going to have a double-edged sword coming out of his mouth!!! He is going to look really frightening!!!
Nice pic shane haha… and glad too see you post!
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
I cannot wait for that day! Everyone on earth is going to see the glorified Christ! I know my reaction will be to fall on my face and worship him. Every knee will bow! No one will be able to help themselves. It is the automatic reaction of sinful people in the presence of a holy God. But I know that my sins are forgiven and though I’m sinful I have been reconciled to God. How awesome is that!!
13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest.
Welcome to Revelation! I can’t wait to complete our journey through this awesome book! ok but I just gotta say this is an incredible picture of Jesus. If this does not create fear then I don’t know what will….it is so humbling to know that this is the Jesus we searve today! may his name be praised!!!!!!
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
THis is just one of my favorite sayings!!!!! Jesus is here and He was here and He is to come !! That to me is so amazing and powerful. First he is with us now and that gives me comfort and He was here, He was always here and came down to die for me and then He is to come to bring me home!! MARANATHA!!!!!!
MMM! love it all! It’s super comforting to know!
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
When Jesus comes again, everyone will see him, it says that even the people that killed him will see him. I can’t imagine what it will look like when he comes. I could only try and imagine the most awesome thing ever! haha. I can only wait and hope that he comes soon! 12-16 goes on and explains what John saw when he sees Jesus. I would I would probably fall down too if I saw what John describes in this chapter. Maranatha!
What a great kick off for the book of revelation. The last paragraph gets ne a littlt. I wonder sometimes what will happen on the day of judgement. Or what will I do when I am face to face with God and his son. It reminds me off the song Fall Face Down. Makes me and all of to keep a clear conscience. The description in this chapter gives us an understanding of what Jesus looks like.
AWESOME CHAPTER! YAY REVELATION(:
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood 6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen
THis verse is amazing and sums up what Jesus did for us. Jesus paid our debt by shedding his blood and dying on the cross for our sins. That is how much he loves us and he deserves all the praise he can get. And when he returns, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess, even those who pierced him! When that day comes, i am glad i wont be the one who Jesus tells, “i never knew you!” That would be horrible. But that is another reason for evangelizing. I would feel horrible if i was up in heaven and my friends were looking up at me from Hell wondering why i never told them the truth! So lets go spread the good news(:
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.
I think this verse says so much and is so exciting. I want him to return so bad! But the real question is, Am i ready? If He returned tomorrow, i don’t think i would be ready! Lets prepare for Jesus’ return and spread the good news. MARANATHA!
Great comment! (:
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood 6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.—-I AM SO EXCITED TO BE IN HEAVEN!!! I cannot wait till that day when I will be standing in front of my Father! The one who died for everything that I did that was against him! I do not deserve this life and He has given it to me and I need to be living my whole to life to bring glory to his name! It’s going to be awesome because everyone who is going to see him! Even those who rejected him before. He decides where we are going and I want to have complete confidence that I know I am going to spend eternity with the Lord. I am praying for streed cred and more persecution to come my way so that I can know I am passing the test and that I am getting rewards in heaven for defending Christ. I am praying for a Revival on earth before the Lord comes back! I need to be seriously devoting my life to him while living here on this earth and be showing the people what Christ is all about.
MARANATHA!!!!!
16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.
This is a really powerful description…and descriptions don’t even give the full effect! This verse reminds me how scared I should be of God…like others have said, He isn’t my “buddy”, He’s my savior!
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
i cannot even begin to imagine Christ on the day He returns for us! what a glorious day that will be! a day when all those who we were (hopefully) constantly persecuted by on this earth falling face down before the Lord so in awe that they sit there like dumb idiots unable to fathom what they had missed out on their entire lives! this returning like pastor bobby said also gives us the huge responsibilty of sharing our faith with others so that on this day we can see them and go “Boo-yah” instead of thinking “i should have opened my mouth and spoken the turth b/c he/she needed the Lord and yet i rejected the opportunity and remained silent!” how devastating. just something for me to think about this week… great message sun. pastor bobby! ttyl<3333
Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
This is a MARANATHA verse with a twist in the punishment that will come on those who do not proclaim he is LORD. Because we know that he is coming and all tribes will bow before him. They we wail because they missed the opportunity. They wail because they will know judgement that awaits them. Because in the end every eye will see and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is LORD.
I am so excited to be starting the book of revelation. I mean we have this book that tells the future!! Prophecies, words from God, and i am so excited to get into it.
“7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.” Even those who pierced him, mock him, deny him, will open their mouths and confess that Jesus is Lord. This is so encouraging, and fills me with so much joy! To know that we are fighting in this battle that has been already won. Our Lord is so mighty, and the description of him in this book is amazing. Reading revelation makes me think a lot about heaven. I am so unbelievably happy to be spending eternity worshiping Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior!!! Bobby got me stoked too this weekend. To be in heaven with all of my brothers and sisters in Christ, singing at the top of our lungs, with no agenda other than to praise God and give him glory. WOW
MARANATHA
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
This was such a cool chapter to read! Jesus Christ is coming back and we need to be ready. This chapter encouraged me even more to talk to people about the Gospel so they won’t have to face judgement from God and go to hell because i’d be totally bummed if no one ever told me about the Bible and Jesus Christ. But anyways, I loved this verse! When Jesus comes it’s gonna be the biggest entrance of all time. He’s gonna come down from the clouds and every single person will know it’s truly the Lord. That is going to be the best, When Jesus completely demolishes sin and make a new earth where he will reign foreverr!
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
The time is NOW to live a life pleasing and glorifying to God. We know that He is coming soon and very soon and we need to be ready for his triumphant return. I remember when Bobby talked about the Maranatha Mindset and how we should always be doing the Lords work so that we are ready to be raptured at any time. So let us zealously pursue holiness in our lives and keep Christ’s commands so that we are ready to enter His kingdom with the words “Well done good and faithful servant!” MARANATHA!!
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
This will be such an indredible day. When Jesus comes back, I am in full confidence that he will take me with him. This is the greatest thing to know ever! Despite this, I want to still be doing things that are pleasing to him all the time. He is going to come back like a thief in the night, and I definitely do not want to be in sin when he comes! Thus, I need to be always staying out of sin. I pray that the Lord does indeed come soon!
Maranatha!
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
When i was reading this verse it got me thinking about how God has always been who he is and he will always be that way forever. Later in the chapter it talks about what God looks like and it is a super scary sight and it gives me an extra kick to obey His commands for when He comes and serve Him, but He is the same now that He will be when He comes back and sometimes I forget that. Sometimes I may get a little bit lazy about serving with a 100% mindset for Him, but He could come back at any time and every second that I waste on myself is one less second that I am able to spend on Him
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
This is a great verse. It is saying that Blessed is the man who acts on what he hears/reads. I need to do this more. There are many times where I hear the right thing to do but I don’t do it, and that is a sin. The Lord is coming soon and i pray that I will make war against sin and be ready for the day of his return!!
Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Nobody will be joking about or mocking Jesus like they do when they look to the clouds on that day. The mighty Lord, too great for even a glorious description in this chapter to do Him justice, is going to come back and reign with a rod of iron and with justice, and I will be worshipping Him!
Welcome back ML
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead.
God is the beginning and the end! Nothing is greater than him! He is sovereign and ALL knowing. Verse 17 gets me really excited for the day that I see Jesus face to face. Could you imagine?! I don’t think I am going to be able to handle his perfectness and holiness. It’s what I look forward to more than anything!! I will soon get to see the one that saved me! This is awesome stuff! I’m sitting here thinking about how great that day will be and it makes me want to be bold in sharing this news with others! I don’t want people to miss out on God’s goodness. I’m praying for more opportunities to share the Gospel this week!
Whoa! What an encouragement to read through all of the comments today! Great to see how stoked you all are about reading Revelation and, even more importantly, about seeing Jesus!
5 and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood…
I was really encouraged this weekend by considering how Jesus died for me. It is an overwhelming display of his love that he would suffer in such a horrible way. And now to read about who he is in his resurrected, glorified state! I can’t wait to worship in his presence with all of his people who will really appreciate the sacrifice he made for us!
If you get a chance to talk with someone about Jesus dying or Easter at the Bren, go for it! And leave a comment here to let us know about it:

7 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.
The most awesome thing to me about this chapter is the exciting reality that Jesus is alive! At True North United last week Pastor Ben gave an awesome 10-minute apologetic talk on how Jesus resurrection is the central point of our faith and without it we should be pitied above all! (1 Corinthians 15) But he has risen just as he said he would and it was prophesied that he would. He is alive right now and wow–what an incredible and even scary description v. 12-16 give of Jesus! I am so excited for Easter and am going to be thinking about the resurrection these next two weeks leading up to it. One thing I started today is I looked up a passage about the resurrection and journaled a little bit about it. My prayer is that no matter how tired or busy I am that I would make time each day till Easter to look up a passage on this essential fact of my faith–Jesus is alive!
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.
John falls as though He is dead when seeing the Lord, who has conquered death. That is intense! While I desparately yearn for Christ to return, this chapter has reminded me of who it is that is coming. A living God who is the first and last, alpha and omega! Can’t wait for this day, but while He tarries I need to continue seeing the urgency of His return and be growing in obedience to Him. This is a powerful picture of God and I am excited to start revelation to see the glimspe of what God has planned for the future.
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
This just gives a taste of how awesome it is going to be when Jesus returns. All people, including those who profane and ridicule His name, will soon be on their knees praising God. Every single person in the earth’s history will be there at once acknowledging and praising Him. And many will be wailing because they are going to be punished. But despite that, John says even so amen. I pray that I would truly want God to be glorified above all else and have uncontainable excitement for His return. I pray that I will also evangelize like never before to the nonchristians so that when they meet Christ they would rejoice rather than wail. But even despite that, I pray that my number one hope and thought would be in Christ and desiring His return because I want to be with Him and see Him praised above all else.
Pure white hair, eyes of burning fire, feet glowing hot like bronze from a furnace, and a voice that probably sounds something like Niagrah Falls, only louder. And if all this isn’t enough, He’s got a sharp sword sticking out of his mouth, and a face shining like the burning bright sun in all its brilliance. No wonder that John fell facedown! I certainly would, and will some day along with everyone else. Yes, when Jesus comes back, we’re all going to see Him in all His glory, and–just as pastor Bobby said this past weekend–we are not going to be ready or able to handle any of it. If He was so glorious and awe-emitting that one of His closest friends and followers during His life on earth fell facedown *as though dead*, I most definitely will not be taking it lightly! Not only will He be so beyond glorious that we will not be able to stand in His presence, but He IS so holy, so other than what we are, that we are going to be totally blown away. As one wise man (who happens to be one of my teachers) put it, it would be something like a dandelion seed going up to a big blast furnace. Yikes! What I can and want to do right now is worship God! One of the innumerable reasons why I would do this is, quite simply, because He is so awesome (in the true sense of the word). Praise the Lord, for He is awesome and merciful to me, a sinner!
These verses are very powerful because it speaks of God and His return. Back then John got a glimpse of what it was going to be like when Christ comes back. Today we can look foward to Christ coming back (MARANATHA) on the clouds and everyone shall see Him and His glory. As for me i can’t wait for His return and how a wonderfully awesome day that will be!!! :)
,”When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last,”
I cannot wait until the day when we are all worshipping Jesus face down. I always ponder of the thought that there will be millions of people there, all worshipping him with all their heart. Revelation is an inspiring book that gives us certainty of the riches that God has granted us through his son. I can’t wait to see him! Such a great book of the bible. My personal favorite!

Maranatha!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wooow! what an interesting chapter!
I loves the desription of his vision. I wonder what th two edged sword from the mouth looked like, is it a metaphor or literal and what caused him to describe it like that. Very interesting. He sounds sooooo powerful and I CAN NOT WAIT to stand before the almighty God and be able to see him in His full glory! Its going to be sooo amazing to leave this ugly life and be able to spend eternity with someone who loves me unconditionally! He poured out his blood for us, he snatched us from hell, and then he created a kingdom for us; this is the ultimate proof that he truely loves us!
7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.
Before I was a Christian, I feared the return of Jesus. I didn’t know how being in heaven and worshipping Him would be better than life on earth. However, reading through this chapter tonight makes me so ready for his return! How awesome will it be the day when every knee will bow? Even those who have pridefully rejected the truth will be overcome by his glory and will bow before Him. I pray that before that day comes, I am taking every opportunity to share the truth about Christ’s return. That they would not be joining with the prideful on that day, but they will be longing for his return as his child!
16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength.
This reads almost like a fantasy story. :) And what’s even cooler is that it’s real. John uses some awesome descriptions in these verses. But even these comparisons failed to do justice to how Jesus appears. Comparing the creator to his creation falls so short of his true nature. Jesus sure is amazing and incredibly holy. I love this chapter because it makes me want to praise Jesus and see him someday in heaven like this. This makes me think of Cannons, “I’m so unworthy, but still you love me.” It’s so cool that someone as awesome as Jesus would actually love me at all. I love this chapter. :D
Revelation 1
5 and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood 6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
The book of Revelation gets me so pumped up. We need to be reminded as Christians of the ultimate reward in the faith of Jesus Christ. The promise of a new and perfect kingdom free from all that is bad and full of everything that is good. I don’t know about you but my mind goes into overload every time I meditate on what Heaven will be like. I love what Bobby said at True North last weekend that “Heaven will be more real than this world”. The best of what we experience here on earth will be completely overshadowed by the Glory of the New Jerusalem. I know that I personally need to direct my focus more and more on the reality of my real home that is in Heaven than on this home that only lasts for a little while. We will be a kingdom of priests who will rise just as Christ rose to serve and worship forever the Father and the Son.
“MARANATHA”
1 Peter 2:9 9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
LOVE IT! it shows us a complete picture of what Jesus is going to look like :) WOW! so legit.
5 and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood 6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Last sermon we talked about the preciousness of the blood of Christ, and this scripture was mentioned. I’ve been thinking about that a lot lately, how the blood of Christ is the most sacred thing, because it’s what bought our salvation.
Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.
Ok, awesome scripture. It reminds me of how we are only alive in Christ Jesus, because he is the only one who has conjured death and that’s the only way we can have eternal life, by giving our lives to him.
this is a good chapter i really enjoy it
i read i really like verse 5
