Psalm 135

Psalm 135

Your Name, O Lord, Endures Forever

135:1 Praise the Lord!
Praise the name of the Lord,
give praise, O servants of the Lord,
who stand in the house of the Lord,
in the courts of the house of our God!
Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good;
sing to his name, for it is pleasant!
For the Lord has chosen Jacob for himself,
Israel as his own possession.

For I know that the Lord is great,
and that our Lord is above all gods.
Whatever the Lord pleases, he does,
in heaven and on earth,
in the seas and all deeps.
He it is who makes the clouds rise at the end of the earth,
who makes lightnings for the rain
and brings forth the wind from his storehouses.

He it was who struck down the firstborn of Egypt,
both of man and of beast;
who in your midst, O Egypt,
sent signs and wonders
against Pharaoh and all his servants;
10 who struck down many nations
and killed mighty kings,
11 Sihon, king of the Amorites,
and Og, king of Bashan,
and all the kingdoms of Canaan,
12 and gave their land as a heritage,
a heritage to his people Israel.

13 Your name, O Lord, endures forever,
your renown, O Lord, throughout all ages.
14 For the Lord will vindicate his people
and have compassion on his servants.

15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
the work of human hands.
16 They have mouths, but do not speak;
they have eyes, but do not see;
17 they have ears, but do not hear,
nor is there any breath in their mouths.
18 Those who make them become like them,
so do all who trust in them!

19 O house of Israel, bless the Lord!
O house of Aaron, bless the Lord!
20 O house of Levi, bless the Lord!
You who fear the Lord, bless the Lord!
21 Blessed be the Lord from Zion,
he who dwells in Jerusalem!
Praise the Lord! (ESV)

  1. Beth Lauder posting from deep in the heart of Texas says:

    1 Praise the LORD. Praise the name of the LORD; praise him, you servants of the LORD,

    Three times in this opening verse there is a call to praise the Lord. God is worthy of praise, all our praise, every day. The thing I am most impacted by after reading through the psalms is how great God is, how sinful I am, and how worthy God is of my praise. Praising God can not just be something I do at church once a week when I sing worship songs. It must be a part of my daily lifestyle. I praise God daily in my morning prayers as I gratefully focus on one of His attributes. I praise God by giving Him thanks throughout the day. I praise God by meditating on His Word and sharing His good deeds with others. My prayer is that my whole life would reflect my praise for God, that it would be weaved in thoroughout every day!

  2. Spencer says:

    Psalm 135:3,5 “Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant. I know that the LORD is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods.”

    Praise the LORD! Praising God seems to be the focus of this psalm. He is not like the idols that the people of this world trust in, such as money or happiness, He is the eternal God almighty who is great than all other Gods. I want to give God the praise he deserves by joyfully singing of His name, because that is pleasant. I want to embrace reality and give praise to our God, for He is good!

    See everyone @ True North!

  3. Ryan Cox says:

    For the LORD has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession.

    Just as God chose Abraham &, therefore Israel, through no merit of their own, so God has chosen us because of His sovereign will & incomprehensible love. It’s beyond amazing that God would choose us to be snatched from the fire of Hell we deserve. Additionally, he hasn’t just chosen us, saved us, & checked out: he’s made us his TREASURED possession. That means we are important, even valuable, to him; it also reminds us that we are owned by him, & our obligation to him is to BE HOLY! He’s created us & saved us so that we can be sanctified, becoming more & more like him as our lives become less sinful. Almost sounds like a familiar sermon we’ve heard recently…

  4. Ben Blakey says:

    13 Your name, O LORD, endures forever, your renown, O LORD, through all generations.
    14 For the LORD will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.

    Verse 13 is a favorite of mine. Not only will God himself endure forever, so will his name/his renown. His glory will never fade, or like that song we used to sing says, “Throughout the endless ages, you will be crowned with praises, Lord Most High!”

    But what really struck me today is how verse 14 is connected to verse 13 by that word “for.” Because God’s name endures forever, he will vindicate and protect his people! So these two verses not only tell me something wonderful about God, they also greatly encourage me and give me confidence. The God whose renown will last forever will always have compassion on me!

    Even more stoked to worship at church this weekend now!

  5. kelly causky says:

    6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.

    This reminded me of Gods sovereignty. We should not be upset if something doesn’t go the way we planned it to because we know that God is the one in charge of everything that happens. Through his power, everything one earth happens for his reason, and we have no right to be really upset about it. Like if you get a bad grade on a test, maybe that is God’s way of telling you to rely on him and work hard in everything you do. When we don’t remember that the LORD does whatever pleases if, then we sin because we have a lack of faith.

  6. 4 For the LORD has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession.

    Just as the Lord chose Jacob/Israel to be His own, HE has chosen you (if you are in God’s family) to be His own too! Thank you Jesus for choosing to shower your love, grace and mercy upon me!

  7. ELLA says:

    15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.
    16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;
    17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths

    This is so true!! Only God has eyes and CAN see, He is everything and is the only true God. HE is just so amazing.

  8. Shelby says:

    6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.

    I love this verse because it shows how powerful the Lord is! He deserves all of our praise like this chapter says. I think it is so amazing that someone so powerful and perfect could die for sinners like me. I want to strive to live a more holy life for Christ!

  9. kyle johnson says:

    6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.

    Being logical, God makes choices! This makes me think of prayer, God listens to the prayers of the righteous, but the wicked are far from him. Proverbs 15:29…God can choose weather to send down rain or not. This makes me think of how we are created in God’s image…just like we choose to do whatever pleases ourselves, so does God.

  10. Steffen Eriksen says:

    16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;
    17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.
    18 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

    The psalmist writes about idols made of silver and gold, formed by the hands of men. He writes that though they have mouths, they can’t speak, and though they have eyes, they can’t see. Their ears don’t hear and no breath comes from their mouths. The verse then says that the people who make these idols will be the same as this, along with everyone who chooses to put their trust in them. In reality, these idols are completely powerless. It may seem to some that they can actually do something, but they can do nothing whatsoever, and the people that choose to make or follow these are flat out fools. They are putting their confidence in a false god of this earth that will do them absolutely nothing. I don’t want to be like this, a person whose eyes can’t see and ears can’t hear! I have eyes and ears, but I want them to be used for the purpose that God created them for. That my eyes would be opened to see God’s glory, and that my ears would hear the wondrous sounds that God has made. Instead of being blinded and stupid, I need to use the gifts God has given me for His glory to please Him! My confidence isn’t in a god of the earth, completely useless, but I have placed my trust in the God who saves, and I’m going to live for Him!

  11. Brooke Miller says:

    13 Your name, O LORD, endures forever, your renown, O LORD, through all generations.

    I totally agree with Ben! This verse is one I enjoy as well. It is awesome to know that God’s love will endure forever and not fade! He is the King and is number one! I am his servant come to bring him glory. I know I am put on this earth to serve him and to make disciples of Christ! I want this year to be the best yet! Praise God for all that he has done so far! Campus lunches went awesome, praise the lord!

  12. emily mayers :) says:

    13 Your name, O LORD, endures forever, your renown, O LORD, through all generations.

    It seems like all throughout the psalms, they are constantly talking about the Name of the Lord and how amazing it is!! It endures foreverand is to be praised! And, I’m thinking if the Name endures forever, how much more will His love and glory remain the same always? He has been the same since the beginning of time and will stay this way for eternity!! I can’t wait to be praising Him for this while in His presence in heaven! MARANATHA!!!

  13. Cameron says:

    15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.
    16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;
    17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.

    these are idols that men have fashioned in efforts to hide from the true God. today people make not make wooden creatures and worship them, but our world has its fair share of idols. whether it be themselves, other people, a sport, or a possession (like a car), these things are nothing compared to God. He responds to us, He hears our prayers, He actually delivers and saves us! He is real and true, while the false idols and “gods” cannot do anything. people make idols out of their own hands, but no one has made God; He is everlasting and self-existent. these verse have helped me understand the futility of trusting in idols. i need to trust in the LORD God, the One who can truly save and truly help me! Maranatha!!!

  14. LG says:

    All I have to say is praise the Lord!!!!!!!!
    1 Praise the LORD. Praise the name of the LORD; praise him, you servants of the LORD

  15. Tanner says:

    ELLO… I read

    I like the final three verses.

    I like them because they are telling everyone to praise the LORD. If my mind is focused on GOD in worship then I won’t fall or at least not as much I have to think about what GOD says, wants, and expects of me then I’ll be focused on GOD and not on the sins I could be doing.

  16. Elise says:

    15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.
    16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;
    17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.
    18 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

    Amen to the other comments on these verses!! Everything I or anyone else looks up to that is not God is an idol. Anything that I take more joy in than God is an idol- something that these verses describe as something that cannot speak, see, hear, and is dead. If I trust in these things, I too will be dead. But this is not so with our God! “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” -Eph. 2: 1-5. Though I used to be dead when trusting in idols, God made me alive through the gift of faith in His finished work on the cross.

  17. Mike says:

    6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.

    There is no force, power, or law that can stop God from doing whatever He wants to do. he created everything with mere words, and no part of His creation compares to His awesome power. This means that there is nothing that will stop Him from fulfilling His promises and remaining true to His Word. Unlike humans, who fail and break their promises, God will always remain faithful. This means that I can trust that when he says He will provide, He will not fail me. Nor will He go back on His word to punish sin. The concept of God’s true omnipotence is a fearful thing to those under wrath, but since I have been redeemed by the blood of Christ I need to praise God for this and trust that he will never fail to work things out for my good and to bring Him glory!

  18. Victoria :) says:

    Wow…these verses seem to all be telling us to praise the Lord nothing is greater than God. He does whatever he pleases, nothing can stop him. and we need to praise him for all he does, becuase all he does is righteous and pure. PRAISE THE LORD!!! :)

  19. payton :D says:

    Over and over again we see in the Psalms it says Praise the LORD! And we should! He is great and awesome and amazing and deserves all my praise! :]

    Can’t wait for True North tonight!

  20. Jenae nae......Loves the Lord! :) says:

    This chapter shows just how amazing God is! He did sooooo many things like defeating nations and kings, and getting the people out of pharaohs captivity! Hes just so amazing and deserves all my praise and more!

    Ill miss everyone at true north tonight but see you tomorrow!

  21. Kelsey says:

    3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.
    4 For the LORD has chosen Jacob to be his own, Israel to be his treasured possession.
    5 I know that the LORD is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods.

    I like this verse because it reminds me o the amazingness of God. It reminds me how much he deserves my praise and worship. He is all-deserving, and I need to honor that. I need to make sure that I am praising him everyday, and that a portion of my prayer time is going towards praising Him. Nothing negative about the Lord should ever be said by, me, not even thought. Verses like this inspire me to keep on praising him.

  22. Dan Lauder says:

    18 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

    Speaking of idols, things that we love more than God, the Psalmist tells us that we will be like what we trust in. Jesus said in Matthew 6:21 “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” You will think about, care about, spend your time and energy on, and be devoted to the thing that you value most. I want that to be God. Thus every time I see an idol creep up in my life, I need to promptly get rid of it and put it in its rightful place below God.

  23. T moore says:

    3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.

    I like verse (especially the end) because it is about praising and worshipping the LORD. He is so awesome, he deserves all of our praises and if we don’t worship him then the rocks will. Worshipping the LORD, as the psalmist writes, is pleasant and joyful. Out of the joy that God gives me, it makes me want to praise Him with my whole life and glorify him. I pray that I would be praising God in every possible way in my life because that is my true joy, worshipping and serving Him.

  24. Melissa Cox says:

    6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.

    This psalm reminds me of God’s incredible power. We are told to fear the Lord in the Bible…when we know how mighty and powerful God is, how can we not fear Him? When I think about God doing whatever He wants with the depths of the seas…that’s only one of the things He controls, but the depths of the seas are scary. There are scary creatures, scary sharks, scary darkness…and God made and controls all of that. He is amazing and the things He does are amazing.

  25. Francesca Staggs says:

    This chapter is great!

    The LORD has done some inredible things for his people ad he deserves all of the praise. I need to work on praising him for all that I have. He has given me so much and without him, I would be nothing, he deserves the highest praise for all that he does. I need to work on realizing all the good in my life that He has given me.

  26. Murphy Danahy says:

    6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.
    7 He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.

    I’ve kinda been thinking about this kind of thing a lot. GOD could have created the world however he wanted. He invented reality and it’s very fabric relies on him. He could have killed us all and resigned us to the fires of hell and it wouldn’t have been wrong or against his nature. His nature could have been anything. If he was here before everything, if he was here before there were people, morals, any of that, he could have made us do whatever he wanted, he could have and still could do whatever he wants. He can do everything and he created everything. Wow.

  27. katie baxter says:

    16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;

    17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.

    There is no one like God! All these idols the people in the old testament were worshiping could not even speak or hear at all! And yet still people believed in them instead of God. But our God is real and living, and he is worth praising and he deserves all the glory!

  28. Jake from Gabe's house!!! says:

    10 He struck down many nations and killed mighty kings-

    This goes a long with tonights message. We need to have a fear in the Lord. If He can move a mountain and kill a whole nation of people we need to be afraid of what He can do to one person. I pray that I can have a greater fear of the Lord.

  29. Sara L. says:

    Reading this psalm in its entirety makes it so clear how ridiculous and nonsensical it is to worship idols. It is talking about all the great things that God had done for His people and how He deserves the praise. Then it goes on to talk about how idols act: they don’t. They are not living. They cannot help us no matter how much we praise them. I pray that I will always keep this in mind so that I do not lose sight of who God is and what He deserves…and that idols should take up 0% of my life.

  30. Jasmine Wonton :))) says:

    16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;
    17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouth

    oh! I like verses 15-17 and when we played a song at worship at beachnight. These idols can’t hear our prayers or speak to us. They also have the power to blind people from the truth. And plus they are made by men who are sinners I worship the one true living God!

    18 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

    Yeah we become like where we spend most of our time. The idols these days are a lot more subtle than before but just or even worst. They can be people, clothes, ideas (fitting in/popularity)and even school gets to be in the way of things. Like trusting in getting good grades to get into a good college to get a good life. But I want to trust in God!I noticed that the more time we make for our idols then the more we will be like them instead of God. I should devote myself to the Lord and His precious Word. That way I can become more like Jesus & pursue holiness.

  31. trevor hosford says:

    13 Your name, O LORD, endures forever, your renown, O LORD, through all generations.

    God was and is and is to come, he is not something that comes and goes but is always reliable and will never leave. he is the great I AM the alpha and the omega, the begining and end

    true north was awesome today, c u all soon

  32. 1 Praise the LORD. Praise the name of the LORD; praise him, you servants of the LORD

    What a great chapter calling us to praise God for all he is and all he does. Praising means to extol or admire, basically making statements about how awesome God is! There is no one like God and I can never run out of reasons to thank him for who he is and the incredible things that he has done, even just in my own life.

  33. max says:

    6The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.

    God is all powerful. He is in charge of everything, cuz He made everything. He deserves to be feared, because everything else can only kill the body, but God can send souls to hell forever. God is in charge!

  34. jacksondahl says:

    15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.
    16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;
    17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.
    18 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

    If I put my focus on idols or great idols of things of this world, I truely am not fearing the LORD. He needs to be the center of everything. Putting anything over him is asking him to punish me. I need to make sure HE is number one at all times. There is no idol that can even begin to compare to the LORD!!!

    MARANATHA!!!

  35. Alison says:

    16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;
    17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.
    18 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

    Mmm that’s interesting but really scary! Totally enforces Bobby’s message tonight on fearing God! God will judge and punish everybody– super convicting!! I’m going to live my life keeping in mind that I’m going to have to answer to the just Lord of the universe for EVERYTHING that I do!

  36. Pastor Bobby says:

    3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.

    I love WORSHIP! When the music starts and people start clapping and the words come on the screen… It is definitely a beautiful thing! And the best thing about it is we are singing to God and it is pleasing to him! It was good to sing tonight and I am looking forward to more worship at True North tomorrow morning!

    Now unto the Lamb who sits on the throne be glory and honor and praise!

  37. The actual John Karlsson says:

    6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths

    God wins and he does what he wants. He has and is and will always be the winner. Do not be deceived and think by choosing the world and the popularity it brings that you are somehow winning. Because the reality is you will be the biggest loser when you realize life lasts for an eternity. Lets stop living for ourselves and get on God’s team.

  38. hunter 2010 says:

    6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.
    7 He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.

    I love how these verses portrays God. His power and authority are so amazing and wonderful! He provides for me in so many ways ; like the weather and keeping me safe in the ocean. He is truely the Lord of all creation and He is soverign!

    “TRUE NORTH” AND EVANGALIZING WAS AMMMMMMAAAAAAAZZZZZZIIIING!

    Goodevening . . .

    I read . . .

    Psalm 135 . . .

    “5. I know that the LORD is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods.”

    “6. The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.”

    “7. He makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth; he sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses. ”

    These verses clearly proove that God is . . . POWERFUL and MIGHTY! There is no other god or even idol even CLOSE to God’s strength. Nothing is equivilant to the mightiness of God and his ability to create all the wonderous things listed in the verses. Just look around, every natural thing was made by God’s own marvelous hands. He made EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE and there is no one or nothing else that even comes close to the things around us. I love during a storm, as verse 7 states, all the lighting and rain and the POWERFUL force from the storm. I love that nothing else comes even close to the shocking experience of an intense storm. During one, if you think about it, how awesome that the God who made me, is making this storm. He put the lighting, and the thunder in it’s place and knows every minute and second when the next bolt will strike.

    Hard to fathom, but TRUE. That’s my God!

    6 The LORD does whatever pleases him, in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all their depths.

    Its cool how the LORD can do whatever He wants, yet He chooses to love us and have mercy on us. He in all reality shouldn’t because we rejected Him. But God, in His amazing love, out of all the things He could do, decided to have mercy on us. LORD, please help me to rejoice in your amazing love because I don’t deserve it. Please help me not to act like it’s no big deal or get used to the fact that I have been a Christian for a while like Bobby talked about in his message. Your love is so amazing-please help me to praise you everyday for it.

  41. Fëanor says:

    1 Praise the LORD. Praise the name of the LORD; praise him, you servants of the LORD,

    I love this Psalm because of how much the psalmist is praising God. Not only that, but this verse is telling me that I should praise God as well. If my life style is constantly praising God, then I will be trying to do the right thing as much as possible. Maranatha!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  42. Evan Mckee says:

    3 Praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.

    Wow that was an amazing sermon! after that there is no way that someone can’t want to praise God for dying on the cross and saving us for his sins. I don’t want this feeling to fade away so that I will continue to feel this way about God

  43. Matt Lawler says:

    The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.

    16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;

    17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.

    18 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

    I have to make sure i am not replacing God with anything else in my life. Only God is the true living One who can bring me satisfaction.

  44. Katie Slusher says:

    Your name, O LORD, endures forever, your renown, O LORD, through all generations.
    16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;

    I was noticing the comparison in these verse between the most high God and the man made idols. Despite being limited, hand made idols, the Israelites worshipped these rather than their Creator. God’s glory and power had and continued to be displayed to them, yet they turn to idols. It seems so foolish when you can see in in these verses, yet I know that I sometimes do the same thing. Rather than worship the most High God, I get distracted by man-made things and put them above my Lord. I pray that I may always praise the Lord!

  45. Jimmy Kang says:

    10 He struck down many nations and killed mighty kings-

    We can never have any sort of power without God, and when you think your powerful and mighty God will put you in your place. So it is important to fear God (like we learned in the message tonight) and make sure we remember how powerful God is and how fast he can take things away.

  46. P.J. says:

    Verses 15-18 say, “The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men. They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see; they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths. Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.”

    The whole subject of this chapter was praising the Lord. And in the verses above, the mentioned idols interfere with a heart that is set on worshipping God. As I seek to live a life that praises God for the things that he is done in my life, and in the lives of others, I need to eliminate any idols that get in the way of my pursuit of holiness. An idol in my life these past couple of weeks was Facebook, and I ended up deactivating my account temporarily so that I could focus on glorifying God and freeing up a lot more time, until I could trust my self enough to spend time on Facebook. Little things like this is what it’s going to take for me, and anyone else, to live a godly life of praise. I need to continue to make these sacrifices so that I can worship God unconditionally and at all times through my lifestyle!

    Maranatha!!!!!!!!!!!!

  47. Dan Blankenship says:

    Psalm 135

    15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.

    16 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;

    17 they have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths.

    18 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

    Like the heathens of old who had their man made idols so too do the heathens of today.
    The people of the Old Testament created gods made from their own hands and praised them over God. Their idols were deaf and dumb and so were their followers. Whatever captures our primary affection and desires, that thing has become our idol. We need serious introspection to search our hearts for idols that are taking precedence over God. At True North we have been talking a lot about seeking holiness. I pray that our desires and affections towards worldly things would not rob us of the closeness with God that comes from holiness.

    Psalm 115:4 4 But their idols are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.

    5 They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but they cannot see;

    6 they have ears, but cannot hear, noses, but they cannot smell;

    7 they have hands, but cannot feel, feet, but they cannot walk; nor can they utter a sound with their throats.

    8 Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

  48. Allie Moorefield(: says:

    5 I know that the LORD is great, that our Lord is greater than all gods.
    In all of these verses, it makes it clear that we, as servants need to be praising the Lord constantly! The Lord is greater and above ALL other Gods and nobody can compare with Him. Which is only one the reasons he deserves glory, honor, and praise. Jesus shed his blood on the cross for our us, yet we continue to sin every single day! Nobody on this earth deserves the love and compassion God has for us, yet he has unfailing love that will never die off! He died for us, we can at least worship and praise Him in return! The blood of Jesus Christ is AWESOME and it is the only reason we can be here on this earth and will someday be in Heaven! God is good:D

  49. Rebekah Foreman says:

    13 Your name, O LORD, endures forever, your renown, O LORD, through all generations.
    14 For the LORD will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.

    Praise God forever. For His love endures forever. For his name endures forever. Throughout all the generations His name will endure forever.
