I absolutely love praising God and giving Him glory for He deserves this all. I pray that my whole life every second of it I will be worshipping and glorifying God.

At my private school a lot of the people I know don’t go to compass. Because of this my friends often view things differently than me, but even though our view points are unique I have had some of the best times of fellowship with my friends from school. It is awsome to be united in Christ!

I want my praise to the Lord be more wholewhearted and more legit. He has done so much for me as a sinful human being. He deserves all the praise that I can give him. He saved us by sending down His one and only Son to die on the cross, giving me all the more reason to praise the Lord with great passion.

Awesome verse. Again emphasizing the fact that God is sooo great and deserves ALL my praise and ALL I can give Him!!!

I need to be more respectful of people around me. Living in unity with my fellow brothers and sisiters in Christ. We are the body of Christ, we should be able to get along in peace. Follow Christs example!!!

Awesome verse! We gotta remember that we are the body of Christ and we need to work together! We are here to keep each other accountable and pray for each other and encourage one another! If someone is lacking in any department, it’ll hurt us all! So let’s stay united and strive for unity every day!

Two things these bite-sized chapters inspire me to do:

1. Live in unity with my bro’s and sis’s in Christ
I want to encourage True Northers and Christians daily as long as the Day is approaching so that they might not be hardened by sins deceitfulness (Hebrews 3:13)!

When we gather with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, for me it is all a feeling of unity and that we can all come together and be passionate about the same thing, Jesus Christ. I love true north united so much because so many people come and it is awesome to be with all my closest friends (family) and to be on the same page with them!!!! It is good to have strong close brothers in Christ!! In reference to Pastor Mikes sermon at Revival 09′, it is good to have a strand of three or more close friends that u can keep accountable and be kept accountable in turn!!!

God is so holy and perfect. Like the psalmist says in verse 1, he calls us servants of the LORD and tells us to praise. As God’s servants/slaves, we should want to always praise God and that should be our joy. I pray that I would always be praising God out of the joy He has brought me and also with the sufferings of this world.

Great verse! God tells us how important it is that we have strong brothers and sisters in christ. Bad company corrupts good character, as it says in 1 Corinthians 15:33. I need to make sure my closest friends and the people I spend the most time around are building me up and encouraging me in my faith. The Lord says we need to have at least three strong christian friends, or adelphos, the greek which translates to “a fellow believer, united to another by the bond of affection” or “brethren in Christ”. This is exactly the kind of people I need to be living in unity with. I need to be always praying that God will lead me to three super strong brothers in Christ! However, I also need to make sure I am putting my self in situations around nonbelievers in order to set an example and witness to them!

Yes it is! But how can we do this? When we love one another and think of others before ourselves. This is sometimes difficult because we are very selfish by nature. But it can be done and it must be done. If Jesus, God, died for those who denied and hated him, then we can be kind to others who are not just our friends too.

It’s awesome to keep each other accountable and edify each other. I need to be spurring on others to pursue holiness and be thankful that they are doing the same to me.

God REALLY wants Christians to be united, it is alllll over the Bible! Sometimes I get annoyed or disagree with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ but that is NOT okay!! Its time to leave behind the little arguments and annoyances and be united as the body of Christ!

I want to strive to live in unity with fellow believers. This includes not thinking mean things about brothers and sisters in Christ (or holding a grudge as Pastor Bobby wrote).

That means WE should bless the Lord by surrender our life by lifting our hands up to the sky. I need to work on surronding my choices that will lead to destuction and raise my hands to my holy father.

Great verse! Us Christians need to stick together. We need to live together with all of our brothers and sisters in unity so that we can all help each other reach Heaven and be able to see the Lord our God! I like what Luke said about how it is so easy to get along with other Christians because we have one thing in common which is our relationship with God! It is great when we can all get along and praise and thank God!! Just think about how amazing that is and how amazing that moment wil be in heaven!!!!!! It will be like amaziing times 50!!!(; God is good<3

I agree! My most enjoyable and pleasant times are when im getting along with a fellow Christain brother or sister. It is really easy to get along with any Christian becuase you always have at least one thing in common….a relationship with Jesus Christ.

It does make life a lot better when me and my siblings get along. This reminds me that I have to keep trying to strengthen my relationships with not only my siblings but with strong Christian friends. I’ve been praying for more godly friends because it makes it so much easier to stand up for Jesus, seek accountability & prayer, and grow stronger in my walk with the Lord. It’s also so encouraging to have someone who can strengthen and share my faith. Like wiht my non christian friends, it’s hard because I can’t really say I need prayer for this or discuss the awesome sermon or how God spoke to me. It’s so great to have someone who shares the same love of Jesus!

2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD.

I really like this verse because when I wasn’t a Christian I didn’t really understand it when people during worship would raise their hands but now I find myself lifting my hands it )Praise the Lord always! Capo’s campus lunch was soooo awesome! The room was packed and so many kids were sitting on the floor. we had to turn ppl down since there wasn’t enough room though:/

What a great reminder to always be praising the Lord!!! He deserves all of our praise forever!

This verse brought to my mind the habit that many Christians, myself included, have of praying often at night. It is a call to make sure that those who were in the temple by night were really there to praise and worship the Lord. It becomes so easy to get caught up in homework and other things, and to therefore minimize the time that we spend in prayer praising and thanking God. Such “worship” is not at all what God desires. Whatever the time, be it day or night, I need to be focused on prayer and worship, making it a priority in my schedule instead of trying to squeeze it in after homework is done.

The Christian life-style is not designed to be lived alone. If we try to live our lives for the Lord and we have no other brothers in Christ keeping us accountable and with us every step of the way, we are very likely to fall into sin and stray from God’s expectations. Accountability is soooo important in order to live above reproach. Just like Pastor Mike preached at Revival 09, we all should have at least 3 LEGIT accountability partners that we are very honest with and who we pray for daily. I pray that we all would have at least 3 accountability partners and don’t stray from God’s team!

As believers we all have one goal, to bring glory to God! We need to be all together–praising and obeying our Lord! There cannot be unity if we become calloused by sin or lazy spiritually. Makes me think of

Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing…”

We need that life together so we can sharpen and build up the brothers and sisters in the church so we can be effective to serve the King.

1 Praise the LORD, all you servants of the LORD who minister by night in the house of the LORD.
This verse really highlights how we constantly need to be praising the Lord! All day and all night our lives need to be glorifying to God!

Unity is a very beautiful thing! We need to be at peace with each other and I think it would be so awesome if our whole group comes together as one…none of this clique stuff that we so eaisly get into like myself for example, hanging around the same people.

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”

This means I need to do everything in my power to live at peace with my brothers and sisters in Christ. I need to let “non-essential” things slide and not always chime in with my opionion. I need to be slow to speak and quick to listen (James 1:19). I need to be quick to forgive and forget. All these things are within my power to act on.

This verse is so true!! When christians are living together in unity, encouraging one another and spurring each other on, its awesome. This is how true north really feels and we need to keep it that way. This verse is encouraging me to go out and reunite with an old christian friend who i havent talked to in awhile.

Anyone remember the Connections series from last year? Cheesy Gordita Crunch – Hard Core with a Soft Shell! We need to love one another at True North…this is something that we should constantly be working on and something that is an evidence of our faith in Christ.

Psalm 134 PRAISE
I loved Brad Smith’s comment about status updates praises. We should be declaring God’s praise on a regular basis and letting people know how awesome he is!

In everything that we do we need to be praising God. He is our Creator and he is DEFFINATELY worthy of our praise. I need to be making sure that my actions are glorifying to God. Maranatha!!!!!!!

Cool verse. This brings me back memories from the past missions trips we have had. When I am on those mission trips I feel like I am a lot closer with my brothers in Christ and most importantly with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My life should be like that all the time. I love spending time with my Christian friends and reading the Bible together and praying everyday! My relationship with the Lord increases a lot! But usually when I am not on a trip like that my relationship will decrease once again and I am not praying as much or reading the Bible and meditating as much. My life should always be like I am on a missions trip! I need to thirst more for the Word every day! Thats why it is always really good to be with our brothers in Christ daily so that we will not forget to read Scriputre and prayer! MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool verse. I need to be praising God all day long because he is great. God had done so many things for me and I must be thanking him all the time.

Worshiping and praising God is amazing. He is so great deserves all my praise! His name will endure forever and will never end. He is great and powerful and deserves all of our praise! Praise be to God! :]

Being unified with brothers and sisters in the Lord is the mark of a healthy body, church. It is so important that we set an example to the unbelieving world around us and what better way then to selflessly love and serve the brethren! This is definitely something God has been working on in my heart and life over the past year, teaching me to love and to give of myself to the brothers and sisters around me and to live at peace with them; this is a continued challenge and prayer in my heart!

Since some people seemed confused, and since we just reviewed this in my class yesterday, maybe I can add some insight to what these verses are talking about:
Many times in the Old Testament (and in the New), God anoints the people he has chosen to be set apart and live for him. Specifically: prophets, priests, and kings. When people were anointed, either oil or another precious liquid was poured on their heads. It was a picture of being chosen- kind of like how baptism is a picture of what faith is. The words “Christ” and “Messiah” both mean “THE anointed one”, so all of the anointings shown in the Old Testament were really just forshadowing the Ultimate Prophet, High Priest, and King of Kings to come! I love how verse 3 explains what the running down of the oil signifies- where the Lord has chosen to give his blessing and life forevermore! I am so thankful that God has given me this gift of salvation!

A lot of good comments on this verse so far. It is so important that we live in peace with those around us. In fact, that should be something True Northers are known for. We live in peace with those around us, caring for them and not causing trouble. It should even be known that we are unified with each other.

Again, the context for this Psalm is worship as all the Israelites would be going to Jerusalem for a feast. This makes me think of the church on the weekends. Am I ever holding a grudge against anyone while I am at church, or am I committed to living in unity and worshiping the Lord?

Psalm 133 & 134 . . .

“1. How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!”

This right here is exactly the reason why fellow Christians are to FELLOW-ship with one and other. We are to spur eachother on. Encourage others. Hold others Accountable. Because we are related in the blood of Jesus Christ, we are to help eachother grow in Lord like we are brothers and sisters. This verse is totally spot on. It’s saying how wonderful, pleasant, and AWESOME it is when God sees his children encouraing other and interacting with eachother. God is so overjoyed to see his sons and daughters at church worshiping Him and bringing Glory to His name. God, I pray that “True North” would encourage and uplift fellow brothers and sisters ALWAYS. Personally, I pray that when I go to church, that I would be there encouraging and supporting my sisters to read your word and meditate on it. Jesus I pray that I wouldn’t just do it, “at church”, where it seems the most holiest, (if that’s how you spell it) but that I’d call them and spur them on. Help them to know that I’m here for them and their here for me in a time of need. However, I pray that we would come to YOU first if we’re struggling in a trial, before we talk to one of our sisters. Just as “Small Groups” talked about, come to the Lord first and confess your problem to Him then to your Christian sisters.

Anyways, even though they weren’t too long, the point is clear. The 133rd chapter says how great it is when brothers get along. And that is very true, when me and my brothers get along it is a great thing. But also it can apply to our brothers and sisters in Christ. And then 134. It is short, sweet, and to the point. God deserves our worship all the time. He made everything, so everything owes it’s existence to Him. All things need to praise Him, and we should never stop.

I sometimes think worship is optional and don’t do it. This verse says the opposite, it is a command to praise the LORD, He is worthy to be praised. Worshipping God isn’t something I do when I feel like it, I’m going to praise whatever the circumstance because God is good all the time. I need to work on praising God more.

I agree with Tanner, though. Its important that we are all praising God continually!! I need to work on praising him all throughout my week. Its really easy at church to praise and worship God, because thats what we do at True North. But things get busy in the week and its easy to get distracted. I DO praise God throughout my week, but I dont give him all the praise that I should be giving him and what he deserves. God is HOLY and he saved me from my sins! I should CONSTANTLY be praising and glorifying his name.

This verse reminds me of a passage that I am studying right now in Ephesians 2. The beginning of the passage focusses on Christ and how His sacrificial death on the cross brought peace between man and God. Then it goes on to say that Christ’s death also brought peace between Jew and Gentile. If the cost of our peace with God and others was so dear (the perfect, precious blood of Christ) then we should make every effort to live at peace with each other. It makes no sense for Christians to fight with each other when we have been given peace through Christ. As Romans 12:18 says, “I must make every effort to live at peace with others.” Making every effort means dying to myself and living peaceably with others even when it is difficult. It is my prayer that I would not think of my own “rights,” of which I truly have none, and put others before myself so that I can live peacably with others.

I googled what in the world the background with the beards and the oil thing was all about, back in the day of when this psalm was written, to see if I could better understand what the psalmist was saying. I found an excellent and ignorance-exposing commentary, and I am pasting it here. It TOTALLY, like God purposed through His Word, ties it all together (as God’s perfect and holy Word DOES). It isn’t GOOD ENOUGH to hop on, read the words, let them go in one eye and out the other (though that’s a START). But we miss so MUCH if we don’t CONSIDER what the Lord is SAYING to us.

Cut and paste it, and see what the Lord was saying underneath the WORDS of it all.

Scripture is CONVICTING. It’s not just some weird old dudes with beards and oil, doing weird stuff. It’s about FORGIVENESS, LOVE, RESTORATION. It completely gives even more merit to what we are learning in I Peter, as we try to fully grasp His love for us, His seeking His children out before time was even created, being holy, how HOLY GOD is, and how we must FEAR Him in His reverence…

The Word He GAVE us, to LEARN more about Him, to OBEY Him–it’s ALIVE…

I love all the comments so far!! This verse is just so true!! Living with strife and fighting in your life isn’t fun at all, especially if it’s against your family or your really close friends. This verse made me think of how I try to live with my “brothers ” in unity. Not only my family, but my Christian family. Am I hanging with the right people? In unity with those right people? I’ve actually been praying about this since I’m the only TN’er who goes to Beckman High. And I’ve been praying since Revival of this year and finally on Monday my prayer was answered!! :D God brought me to this awesome Christian club on campus called P.OP.!(power of prayer) They’re all about getting us into His word and being encouraging to each other. I’m so happy God found them for me! Praise to God!!!!!! :D

David writes that it is go great when brothers are living together peacefully and in unity. A lot of people just want to fight. Some always think that they are right and others just love getting in arguments. People are so prideful, and they don’t want to be looked at as dumb, that they were wrong, so they fight to be right. But when people are humble and meek, they can live together in unity. In the Christian life, we should be striving to get along with with other people. However, there still are times to stand and fight for what you know is right, yet for the most part, peace should be the attitude. Romans 12:18 says, “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” If the situation permits peace for a Christian, then he need to do his part of being at peace with everyone. In times where I can be peaceful, I need to live at peace with everyone, even if others don’t do the same. Just because they may pay and repay me with evil, I still need to act with kindness. I need to not worry over how others will react, for I can’t control them, but I need to do my part of staying calm and not being eaiily angered, so that I can live peacefully with those around me.

I love worshipping God and praising him. The Lord is so good and he is pleased when we serve and obey him! My heart motivation is to be obedient in all circumstances and do things out of fear and love for God. There are so many ways to be praising God because he has done so much and has provided for me with everything I have. He is above all, and is the judge of the world. Therefore, he is my master and I must obey. It isn’t always easy right at first to have an obedient heart, but through God’s word and truth, I know that I can be teachable! God is so good and all the glory should go to his name!!

This is how we should all be thinking about each other. First off, living in unity is a must for everyone that claims salvation from the Lord. We can’t be hating another brother or sister in Christ! And the same thing goes with our brothers in families. Although it might be hard, we need to be loving toward them, young or old.

I like all of psalms 134

I like this Psalm because all it talks about is praising the LORD. HE should always be praised and we should never stop giving HIM glory. HE created us and saved us while we were still HIS enemies. I want to praise HIM all the time because it will keep me focused on GOD and not on myself and my sins.
