30 They made the plate, the sacred diadem, out of pure gold and engraved on it, like an inscription on a seal: HOLY TO THE LORD.

In older English translations the diadem was called a crown but in the NIV it described as a gold plate. This flat piece of gold, engraved with HOLY TO THE LORD, was worn on Aaron’s turban (headdress). Every thought of Israel’s worship leader was to be focused on the Lord. The ministering priest wore this because it was the most important ministry representing the people to God and leading them in worshiping Him.

How often are we focused on everything around us or what we are going to do after church and not focused on God? How it must grieve the Holy Spirit of God to look down on us and see our level of adornment and worship. I pray that True North will be filled with young people who are set apart wholeheartedly giving God all He deserves.

Its awesome to see that when we are obedient we will be rewarded. When we do what we are told God honors it! Its so awesome to see how faithful God is toward us and it is never-ending!!!:D

42 The Israelites had done all the work just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
43 Moses inspected the work and saw that they had done it just as the LORD had commanded. So Moses blessed them.

“As the Lord had commanded”, is greatly used in this passage. Which applies today in our daily walk with God, is sometimes hard to do. But we need to be obeident and willing to do what he has commanded whether we like or not. Each day is a new day to make God proud of us because he is our loving father.

I also found it interesting how often it is stated “as the LORD commanded”. We read our bibles everyday but are we obedient to God’s commands? James 1:22 comes to mind, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says”. My prayer is that I will be an obedient servant of Christ, always ready and prepared to obey His commands.

This passage tells a lot about doing “just as the LORD commanded.” Living obediently is one of the most important things we can do for God here on earth, yet we always seem to waste our time by being involved in worldly things and ignoring what God commanded. We should meditate on his commandments, so we can live more obedient and holy lives.

Psalm 119: 14-16 “I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.”

Its awesome to see how they had been listening to what the Lord had been commanding the whole time. That after following him it paid off by getting blessed by Moses.

Everybody needs to know that we’re Christians because of how different we act! We can’t just be like every other person, we can’t just blend in and think its all okay. God calls us to stand out because of the standards He’s given us- and that’s something we absolutely NEED to do.

Reading through all the instructions for the tabernacle really made me think of how much hard work the Israelites had to do to complete it. The instructions God gave them were very specific in every little part. They had to carefully follow each instruction. I hope that at the end of the day I can look at what I did and say I did all the work that the Lord commanded me to do and I gave it 100%.

The Israelites did just as they were commanded. They did it joyful and did it with hard work.they obeyed therefore were blessed. God will bless us if we do what He has

Blessing and obedience go hand in hand. If we obey the commands and laws of God then we will be blessed; if we disobey and sin then the only thing we have to look forward to is death and seperation from God. Obedience and fearing God does not always sound fun, but it is the key to life, and is the only thing that brings true satisfaction :)

I didnt really know what else to comment on. This verse (23) isnt really prolific or anything, but ill comment on it anyway.:)

The opening on this robe is where the head goes through. But they sewed a band of cloth around the rim of the hole (just like our t-shirts!) Its actually a really smart design because it allowed the head to be squeezed through the hole without it ripping. Try to tug at the hole on your t-shirt…… its a lot harder to rip isnt it? Now try pulling on your shirt after you remove the collar/band part…….it rips really easy! Thus proving the smart design! I find it cool. So the next time you look at your t-shirt it will remind you of Exodus 39!

As Bobby and others pointed out in this chapter, those who have been saved through grace should present themselves as holy before the Lord (Romans 12:1).

Ephesians 5:26-27 adds that Christ died for the church, “to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.”

I pray that we would live up to this calling and be holy before the Lord.

We need to do what God commands us just like the Israelites. We need to give God our best effort and we will be blessed. We need to not only read Gods word but do what it says. I need to pray that God will help me to follow His word and live by what He says.

The problem with society at large, and mainly in western society, is that people don’t have much motivation. People are lethargic, lazy, and want what they want when they want it. They are, to put it delicately, SLUGGARDS! It is all about me-me now-now. It should be Lord-Lord You-You. We need to throw off the shackles of society that are keeping us from the embrace of our Father. If we do what the Lord commands us, exactly as he commands us, then we would be so much better off. Start with the big things like evangelizing, but do not ignore the little things like a kind word, or respect for those of other beliefs. Life is all about good, evil, and the person struggling in between. The Lord has commanded us, and if we obey, we will find our reward not only in heaven, but in the people around us whom we have helped bring into His light.

I love how everything was so specific and exact and the Isrealites did it all EXACTLY as God commanded them. They put certain colored stones in certain places, weaved out of very specific materials, etc. and it’s just a great examle of how we should be willing to do anything for the Lord if He commands us to

This verse seems to be repeated alot in the last two chapters. Does it have any special meaning or something?

Because the Israelites were obedient and did what God commanded them to do, they were blessed. They didn’t do a sloppy, bad job on it but they really put their hearts into it and made everything so precise and detailed just like how God commanded them to do. If we live for God and obey his commands wholeheartedly, we will be have God’s blessing with us :)

It is like God making us it must have taken a lot of time to create us and we can make new people to by telling people of God and lead them to Him.

I agree with what Christa said…I was amazed at how many times it said ‘as the Lord commanded’. That is how I want my life to be, I want to do EVERYTHING as the Lord commands and where do we start in knowing exactly what He wants us to do ??? His Word!!

This verse screams do good and you shall receive! The israelites did everything the LORD asked them, but it wasn’t all fun and games either. They had to work above and beyond what their “daily” schedule was like in order to do this. It just shows what an ounce of the LORDS strength can do to a group of people, and that we in this generation need to trust even more in the LORD just to endure hardships and struggles!

This is exactly what God does for us. If we live our lives for God and live the way he commands, we will be even more blessed by God. We think of following the rules as a burden, but in reality, God makes it really easy by telling us what to do and what not to do in black and white, there is nothing confusing about it. We should be thankful for that. And then, if we do live our lives according to his commands and follow his will we will be blessed, even more so than we are right now. So what have we got to lose? All that we could be sacrificing is superficial stuff. But if we live for God, he will make it up to us in eternity.

This reminded me of Ephesians 6:14 “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place.” I think it’s awesome that Chistians are told to put on righteousness to protect our most vital organs. If we are putting on righteousness every day, we are protecting ourselves from sin like we are commanded. Let’s be faithful in putting off sin and putting on holiness daily.

It is so important to do exactly what God says! The Israelites did exactly what God said in building the tabernacle. When the Isrealites did not do exactly as God commanded he would punish them. We need to also be careful to do exactly what God says. It is important to read God’s word to know what he says so we can do it!

It seems that Moses needed to make sure that the the tabernacle was made just as the LORD asked. After all was finished he rechecked over his work and made sure it was perfect. Just as Moses had done we should also recheck over our lives, making sure that we are fully living as the Lord commanded. We will never be perfect, but we should always inspect our lives so that they are above reproach and blameless before others.

You are right though, the world should be able to see that we are set apart for the Lord by our actions in our odedience to God. Which brings me to comment on Christa and and Beth’s remarks; I too want to obey without complaining. And not just wothout complaining, but with JOY! No matter how small or how difficult the task. It is an immense PRIVELEGE to serve the God of the Universe-let’s act like it! :o)

As others have commented the Israelites did exactly as God commanded them through Moses. Notice what comes after, blessing. In this case it is the blessing of Moses (their leader) but the situation is analogus to us. When we do the things God commands us to do, we recieve God’s blessing.

The Israelites were not lazy at building the ark, they did everything that God commanded them to do. They didn’t complain that it was to hard. Good example by the Israelites right here!

Along with the verse he gave, 1 Peter 2:9 calls believers a “royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

Every Christian is HOLY TO THE LORD! We are set apart for him! We should remember that everyday.

These chapters on building the tabernacle could not be more clear: God wants us to do the things he has commanded. The reason is so that we will be set apart and holy before him. God is holy and can have nothing to do with sin. Therefore, if we are going to know God we need to be holy like he is.

This is something we cannot do by ourselves. We need the blood of Jesus Christ to cover our sins. We need his perfect, resurrected life. This is what we are going to celebrate at Easter!

But once we have salvation in Christ we still need to live like there is a golden sign on us that says: HOLY TO THE LORD

1 Peter 1:14 – As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

The phrase “just as the LORD commanded Moses” is repeated over and over again in Exodus 39. It is significant because it shows that Moses was obedient to the LORD by passing on His commands to the Israelites and that the Israelites obeyed their earthly leader Moses and their Heavenly Father by following His commands to a t! This reminded me of 1 John 5:3 “This is love for God: to obey His commands. And his commands are not burdensome.” The Israelites showed their love for God by obeying His call to donate their prized posessions to the building of the Tabernacle. It is my prayer today I that I would follow the Israelites example by obeying my pastor’s commands and ultimately the Lord’s commands on my life. This week Pastor Bobby asked us to love someone enough to share the gospel with them…so when I left church I witnessed to both of my grandparents who are not saved. I want to show my love for God by obeying His commands and He often reveal His commands through the leadership at church.

GOD is holy and we have to remember that. He cannot bear sin in his sight, so it’s a miracle that we’re alive. But we are and we have to remember to give him the honor that he is due. Which is all of it.

Over and over it says “as the LORD had commanded” and we as Christians need to listen and obey God, for He knows what is best for us. And plus He created us, so the least we could do is obey Him. And when we obey we are blessed. :]

***REMEMBER TO OBEY YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN!!!***

On the day when we stand before the Throne, will we too be blessed for doing everything just as we had been commanded? Or are we looking for shortcuts in the Christian life, ways to get out of commands like evangelizing or serving in the church, using whatever excuses we can to live our lives a different way? Or do we live every day in obedience to Christ, looking for ways to serve Him by obeying what He has told us to do in the areas of evangelism, submission to authority, service, and all the others? We need to be living this life looking forward to the next, and keeping serving Jesus Christ wholeheartedly and according to His rules as our #1 priority!

Can you imagine the effort to hammer a chunk of gold so thin it was able to be cut as thread? It took a long, long time to get that right. It’s kind of like how God molds us over time. While in His eyes our record IS perfect, our perfection (sanctification) is not accomplished when He saves (justifies) us: it takes time. Of course, we are a new creation in Christ immediately when we repent and trust in Him alone, but the work of conforming to Christlikeness takes a lifetime and is only finished when He gives us a new body in the new heaven. I can’t wait for that to happen (just ask my son!). In the meantime, Lord hammer me into the person you want me to be…
