Making the Altar of Burnt Offering
38:1 He made the altar of burnt offering of acacia wood. Five cubits was its length, and five cubits its breadth. It was square, and three cubits was its height. 2 He made horns for it on its four corners. Its horns were of one piece with it, and he overlaid it with bronze. 3 And he made all the utensils of the altar, the pots, the shovels, the basins, the forks, and the fire pans. He made all its utensils of bronze. 4 And he made for the altar a grating, a network of bronze, under its ledge, extending halfway down. 5 He cast four rings on the four corners of the bronze grating as holders for the poles. 6 He made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with bronze. 7 And he put the poles through the rings on the sides of the altar to carry it with them. He made it hollow, with boards.
Making the Bronze Basin
8 He made the basin of bronze and its stand of bronze, from the mirrors of the ministering women who ministered in the entrance of the tent of meeting.
Making the Court
9 And he made the court. For the south side the hangings of the court were of fine twined linen, a hundred cubits; 10 their twenty pillars and their twenty bases were of bronze, but the hooks of the pillars and their fillets were of silver. 11 And for the north side there were hangings of a hundred cubits, their twenty pillars, their twenty bases were of bronze, but the hooks of the pillars and their fillets were of silver. 12 And for the west side were hangings of fifty cubits, their ten pillars, and their ten bases; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets were of silver. 13 And for the front to the east, fifty cubits. 14 The hangings for one side of the gate were fifteen cubits, with their three pillars and three bases. 15 And so for the other side. On both sides of the gate of the court were hangings of fifteen cubits, with their three pillars and their three bases. 16 All the hangings around the court were of fine twined linen. 17 And the bases for the pillars were of bronze, but the hooks of the pillars and their fillets were of silver. The overlaying of their capitals was also of silver, and all the pillars of the court were filleted with silver. 18 And the screen for the gate of the court was embroidered with needlework in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen. It was twenty cubits long and five cubits high in its breadth, corresponding to the hangings of the court. 19 And their pillars were four in number. Their four bases were of bronze, their hooks of silver, and the overlaying of their capitals and their fillets of silver. 20 And all the pegs for the tabernacle and for the court all around were of bronze.
Materials for the Tabernacle
21 These are the records of the tabernacle, the tabernacle of the testimony, as they were recorded at the commandment of Moses, the responsibility of the Levites under the direction of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. 22 Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, made all that the Lord commanded Moses; 23 and with him was Oholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, an engraver and designer and embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen.
24 All the gold that was used for the work, in all the construction of the sanctuary, the gold from the offering, was twenty-nine talents and 730 shekels, by the shekel of the sanctuary. 25 The silver from those of the congregation who were recorded was a hundred talents and 1,775 shekels, by the shekel of the sanctuary: 26 a beka a head (that is, half a shekel, by the shekel of the sanctuary), for everyone who was listed in the records, from twenty years old and upward, for 603,550 men. 27 The hundred talents of silver were for casting the bases of the sanctuary and the bases of the veil; a hundred bases for the hundred talents, a talent a base. 28 And of the 1,775 shekels he made hooks for the pillars and overlaid their capitals and made fillets for them. 29 The bronze that was offered was seventy talents and 2,400 shekels; 30 with it he made the bases for the entrance of the tent of meeting, the bronze altar and the bronze grating for it and all the utensils of the altar, 31 the bases around the court, and the bases of the gate of the court, all the pegs of the tabernacle, and all the pegs around the court. (ESV)

Wow! Look at all of these things that Bezalel and Oholiab made. How cool is that for their names to be down as having done this service for God.
I wonder what we will be able to say that we have done for God that could be written down in the history books of God’s kingdom.
CHALLENGE: WRITE DOWN A GOAL TODAY OF SOMETHING YOU WANT TO DO FOR THE LORD.
I’ll check back at the end of the day to see what everyone wrote!
Hope to see everyone at True North at 11 if you weren’t there last night – The Criminal Sermon – What are you willing to suffer for the gospel?
I’m glad to be back where there is internet connectivity to post on SOTD! Camping out in God’s creation reminds me of the exquisite detail and precious material that are represented in the tabernacle. They both remind me of the reverence due to the Creator and how sinfully casually I treat Him most of the time.
Lord, may I rightly understand who You are today and act accordingly, even in my deepest, shortest thoughts…
My goal of what I want to do for the Lord…
It is my heart’s desire that God would use me to speak Truth into the lives of Orange County High Schoolers. I want to share the gospel with the girls of True North who are not saved, and I want to spur on those girls in my small group who are Christians. I want to be used to impact this generation of teenagers for Christ so that they will live out Philippians 2:15-16…”So that you may become blameless and pure children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the Word of life…”
I am going to offer myself to God as a living sacrafice (Romans 12:1) and to combat my selfishness with the truth of how I’m supposed to live in 2 Corinthians 5:15.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrafices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spirtual act of worship.” – Rom 12:1
“And he died for all that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for him who died for them and was raised again.” – 2 Corin 5:15
Scripture:
Ok so they had everyting perfect for God and they worked hard at it, giving Him their all, so that it was pleasing to God. The scripture lists every detail and when we do things for God we need to also focus on those little details for it is going to God.
Challenge:
I want to live my life not only today but for he rest of my life, like Bezalel and Oholiab. Giving it all to God and also focasing on the details. God gace them gifts and He also gives us gifts. One of my favorite passages about gifts is 1 Corinthians 12:1-11. And in verse 11 it says:
“All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.”
the Holy Spirit (a.k.a:God and Jesus) gave us each different gifts that will be used in His will. And the gifts He gave us we shouls us to the best of our ability. :]
***REMEMBER THAT HE CREATED US UNIQUE AND ONE OF HIS OWN***
PLEASE READ MY COMMENT AND PRAY FOR IT!!!
My goal for today:
Is to work on the message for the pizza lunch at Dana. I know it’s not much, but I want this to be the best campus lunch ever! I have such high expectations & is so pumped up! I feel like I have a mission, where I have one shot, for people to get saved. I feel like if anyone is going to be saved, it’s this week!
I want this to be the most uplifting, that people will put God #1 in their lives. That people will leave their sinful life to follow Christ! I am praying that someone or many people will get saved! That they will hold firmly and take their stand on the Gospel! They respond to gospel by repentance and faith! That they will realize their sin, and that will bring Godly sorrow that leads to salvation! I want to see the people who are saved, having fervor! I want to see the Gospel spread like fire in the campus of Dana Hills High School! So please PRAY for my campus lunch, I am asking ALL of you who read this to! thanks :)
Col 3:23 “Whatever you do work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not men.”
Today, I know that God wants me to do my homework with a joyful and glad attitude. I need to do my homework for the Lord today and every day.
27 The 100 talents of silver were used to cast the bases for the sanctuary and for the curtain 100 bases from the 100 talents, one talent for each base.
Well, I’m not sure exactly what to post on. I know that all of this is GOD’S word and that it is all important, but I don’t know what to do. Wow. My day so far hasn’t been so great. My family is arguing about easter sunday. No one seems to know what the heck we’re doing. Please pray that everyone in my family will have their hearts softened so that we can resolve this. We need to give all the glory to GOD.
Since I have a lot of homework today this is my goal:
Colossians 3:17
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
I pray that I can do my homework all the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
27 The 100 talents of silver were used to cast the bases for the sanctuary and for the curtain 100 bases from the 100 talents, one talent for each base.
Its cool how God used each talent of materials that the Israelites gave in a specific way. Its also cool that God has a specific place for everything we give Him as well. Like if we give Him some of our time by talking to someone about Christ for thirty minutes, God might have planned that conversation to bring that person to salvation. Kyle, that was a great comment and I’ll definitely be praying. I hope that the lunch at our school will also be the best lunch ever, so I’m going to make sure that I go tell more people about it than I have ever done before. This way God’s name will be spread on our campus and salvation will hopefully take people by storm.
CHALLENGE RESPONCE
I want everyone at my school to know I am a Christian and belong to the Lord, then live by example, showing Aliso Niguel High School what it means to be a true Christain. Its small but this is what i want to do for my Lord, love, and Savior.
THE CHALLENGE
To make diciples of Christ and to show I am a Christain at the school i go to.
I also have a lot of homework to do today:
1 Corinthians 10:31 – So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Philippians 2:14 – Do everything without complaining or arguing.
I pray that I will do my homework for the glory of God without complaining about it.
My goal is sharing an important message tonight at my performance. The show is about the 20s when the stock market crashed and the great depression started. The play focuses around how “pride goeth before the fall” and how we are all in need of Gods grace. I hope this play helps everyone who watches it realize that with all the economic struggles our country is facing, we just need God.
My goal for this week:
My goal is to do all my homework with 100% effort without complaining. Also with a mentality of doing it for Christ. I plan to show the fellow non-Christian classmates around me how we Christians do everything to the best. For Jesus Christ.
Challenge: To make sure when people see or meet me that they can figure out im a christian without telling them.
Goal: To give 100% of myself to the work of God, not just 99% but everything!! That is what he commands us to do and i want to go out there and make diciples!
3 They made all its utensils of bronze—its pots, shovels, sprinkling bowls, meat forks and firepans.
4 They made a grating for the altar, a bronze network, to be under its ledge, halfway up the altar.
5 They cast bronze rings to hold the poles for the four corners of the bronze grating.
6 They made the poles of acacia wood and overlaid them with bronze.
God has everything made out of bronze because he wants everything perfect and holy. He wants it all perfect and done whole heartedly and not just ‘done’.
My goal for the LORD is to do everything whole heartedly for God.
My goal:
I want to boldly speak God’s truth to my small group and take every opportunity to speak God’s truth without compromise.
My Goal:
I want to be a confident prayer warrior who is consistently presenting my requests before the Lord.
Challenge response (today and tomorrow)
I want it to be evident that I am a Christian and to memorize two Bible verses. I do not work hard enough at memorization. I want to be able to share the verses when evangelizing
Challenge:
Be able to make it to campus lunches and also let people on the campus know I am a Christian and not be afraid to talk to people about Christ. Pray that the Holy Spirit will give me the words to say and the guts to do such and share.
Keep me accountable for this
CHALLEGNGE: a goal i have for myself is to………ummm…more then i prayed this week…. which will be soooo hard because i prayed more than i ever have in this last week.. i think like four hours was spent in prayer. so i want to beat my record. =)
OH and to find someone to memorize james with me! If any of you want to… hit me up and we can hold eachother accountable to doing so
My goal is to be a 24/7 servant of Christ. Giving whatever is necessary to further His kingdom.
My goal is to evangalize to more people and invite them to campus lunch and to be bold about it. Also for everyone to notice that I am a Christian through my lifestyle.
My goal is to put God before everything else in my life and live everyday thinking, “what are you doing for the Lord today?” as a motivation to live fully devoted to him! We were created for this very purpose.
My goal today, this week, and the next is to evangelize my school. At times it is so hard to profess that I am Christian publicly because I do not want to lose friendships that I have had all my life. But I realize that I should be caring more about my friend’s life and what will happen after he or she dies than what they think of me know. Today’s message by Pastor really convicted me on my evangelizing. Many of us high schoolers, including my self are weeksauce evangelizers. We may know what to say, but we dont because we are afraid of what people think. In Paul’s day, he wasn’t afraid at all. And if he were to be afraid, he wouldn’t be afraid of what people thought of him, he would be afraid of what people would do to him to hurt or kill him. But, Paul was fearless because he constantly looked to the Lord for guidance, strength, endurance, and wisdom.
Mark 16:15-16 – “15 Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”
My goal:
God wants us to always be joyful. I am going to rejoice in every situation, good or bad. By doing this, I can be a testimony to those around me because by not complaining, I will stand out from the world. A joyful attitude is an important characteristic for every christian.
My goal:
I want to help lead as many people to Christ as possible. Every day it just shocks me how many people are out there that don’t believe and just simply don’t care. I want to evangelize and spend time learning about God so that hopefully I could help lead unbelievers to the answers to their questions. That’s my life goal, really. I just pray God helps me with it because none of it can happen without Him!
My goal for this week is to obey my parents for everthing they ask me to do. I need to have a good attitude about it and do it right after they ask me. Not to forget and them have to ask me again but to do it the first time. I also really want to do my homework for the Lord! I really need to work on that this week also.
Definitely a goal I need to set in my life is to be serving/ working/ doing my homework with a good attitude, mainly the homework since I never do it…just like Bobby said in the homework sermon, do it for God’s glory!!
My goal for this week is to evangelize more and not get discouraged after the first time. I usually let myself and the conversation slip if they say something negatively and I need to stand up to my beliefs more and hold myself more accountable for the things I do. Also I really need to work on praying more genuinely and actually applying the Bible to my life instead of just reading it.
Goal:
I want to complete my week of school without laziness/slothfulness, and be completely relient on God through the challenges! For this to happen, God needs to be first in my day and my ONLY priority!
This week and all the rest of my weeks I want to preach it, teach it, pray it, live it. breath it, meditate on it and immerse myself in it. God’s word is amazing only by studying it will we know who God is!!
Its late and there isn’t much left to do other than sleep so I will apply my goal to tomorrow and in general the whole week. I’m looking forward to having someone ask me how my weekend went at school and actually starting a converstation about the Lord. I want to tell that person something more than, “Oh yeah, my weekend was fine” and tell them I enjoyed church and growing closer to the Lord. I want to share with them the Gospel and why I’m looking forward to celebrating Christ’s ultimate sacrifice for us over the break.
Challenge response
Colossians 3:17
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
This verse is a great verse for me! I want to make sure everything I do is a good representation of Christ. I know this seems small but I specifically want to to my homework as if I was doing it and turning it into the Lord :) This verse reminds me that i need to do everything even my homework in the name of Jesus Christ!
Bobby’s Challenge:
I would like to go to evangelism night and actually step out of my comfort zone and tell people the Gospel. I couldn’t do it last night because I was sick ):
Also, I’d like to try to talk to my friends and family members that aren’t following God about God and the good news of Jesus Christ.
my goal for tomorrow: do everything for God.
I am going to try to keep God in my mind all day tomorrow, so that whatever I do, I am doing it for the Lord. This will be most important when it comes to homework and tomorrow’s lacrosse game.
Mathew 5:14
I do not want to be a “Christian Chameleon” and blend in with the world. I pray that I would stand out, be an example, and show God’s glory. I pray that in all I do I would do it for his sake and do nothing for selfish desire.
Lecrae’s song “Go Hard” keeps playing in my head and I have been thinking about this line a lot…”If you didn’t know Christ would your life look the same?” I can see how so so so many people who call them selves Christians do the same things that people who deny Christ do. I have noticed how I can do the same things when I laugh at the same jokes and make the same comments…As Christians we are called to live differently…as the band For Today puts it we are called to a hire standard. I pray that I would live a holy life that is set apart for all to see but most inportantly for the glory of God.
Again, we see an incredible service for the Lord. We see detail and the best materials being used. As I read through and visualize the hard work involved, I can’t believe it! Bronze is a very difficult metal to manipulate and it’s extremely heavy duty. To spend that much time and energy making this exactly the way the God wanted took an incredible amount of obedience and perseverance. They did this with excellence!!
The Challenge:
My desire is to do so much for God as a response for what he’s done for me. My problem is that it becomes unrealistic because of time. I end up falling into an issue of not doing any one thing with excellence. My goal is to look at service for God from a different side now. I want to be like minded with my church and God’s word, I want to minister to body of Christ and I want to lead my family in the way of truth. These are the the most important things I can think of when it comes to service for the Lord. As I look forward to the near future, my goal is to see students of True North really grasp the power of God, to understand the holiness of God and to respect and honor the term “follower of Christ”! I want to see kids mature and grow in their faith and while doing that, I believe that my service for the Lord will be help to bless others and hopefully advance the Kingdom of God!
My goal for tomorrow (it’s too late for today) is to not be distracted in my work.
All these goals are so encouraging to see! I have sooo many goals for my Christian life but right now I think it would be to let go of my desires and plans for myself. I’ve been better but I want to continue to give EVERY situation in my life over to the Lord and be selfless in what *I* want for myself – I need to want what God wants all the time. God can give me the desires of my heart (we talked about this at Girls Workshop!) but He won’t always. But I still can’t count on God’s plan being the same as mine…so I’m going to make my plan the same as God’s! I’m not a worrier but I’m somewhat I go-getter and I want anything I go get to be something that God wants for me and that I have prayed about and given over to Him and for His glory. It seems like there are so many opportunities for me to take credit but my goal is to give everything over to Him so I HAVE to give Him the glory for what He does in my life and the lives of those around me as well!
My other goal, not so “complicated” is to do SOTD every day, especially while I’m gone on my trip! :]
Kyle (and anyone else involved with Campus Lunches) I will be praying for you guys. Anyone else who has voiced a need for prayer I am there for you also!
prayer please!
For those of you who love taking prayer requests, a HUGE one for me right now would be for the World Championships coming up! I leave next weekend (unfortunately will be missing all the fun Easter Break activities and 2 weekends of True North…sad face!) and will be dancing (Irish if you don’t know) at Worlds on April 9th. It’s a biiig deal, and not only do I need the strength and endurance but also the peace and the reminder that God is there for me and will help me through it no matter what, and that He deserves the glory for whatever I am able to accomplish. I’ve been preparing for this since last year pretty much and apart from the qualifiers it is the biggest and most important Irish dance competition (and the scariest!! which is why I would really love prayer!). It’s also one of the hardest, haha. Anyway, I would REALLY appreciate prayer and encouragement as I head on this trip soon!
Andd this is my longest SOTD post :P
Great to read these goals! Let’s make them happen!
Be praying for campus lunches this week and invite someone to True North next weekend to hear about the resurrection!
My goal for this week is that i’ll be willing to share the gospel to at least one or two friends. That i’ll be in complete boldness and let the holy spirit speak through me. Also doin’ my homework with 0% of complaining and 100% for God! :D
Exodus 38
This passage reminds me of what Pastor Mike spoke about today regarding the Church. The Church used to be a place where you would find the most talented people the best poets, musicians, craftsmen, teachers, artists etc. Now days the secular world is where all of the best can be found. We have become a generation of people that care more concerned about the success of this world than the success of the Church. What are we doing personally to make Christ’s bride (The Church) beautiful? Are we giving ourselves to the church tirelessly with excellence or are we saving all of our energy for the things of this world? My goal is to serve Christ and His Church with excellence bringing the best of what God has blessed me with and growing where I am lacking.
wellll I’m a little late for the goal thing for bobby…but I’m making a goal this week to get some people from my english/history class to come to the campus lunch this week! I already wrote it on the board in the classroom! Hopefully, they will come! :D
annnnnnd this chapter….IT REMINDED ME OF HOW AMAZING GOD IS! God uses both Bezalel and Oholiab to do all these awesome things, and not just them, but everyone! And then God oversees everything knowing that everyone is making everything to the best of their abilities. Everything is so complicated too! But the Israelites are able to follow every command. Everything is so detailed and so precise, and God thought of every single detail and how it should look. Just as how He did for us! He created us, and I gotta say, the human body is EXTREMELY complicated! God is incredible, another reason to obey Him with joy! :D
