Exodus 35

Exodus 35

Sabbath Regulations

35:1 Moses assembled all the congregation of the people of Israel and said to them, “These are the things that the Lord has commanded you to do. Six days work shall be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. You shall kindle no fire in all your dwelling places on the Sabbath day.”

Contributions for the Tabernacle

Moses said to all the congregation of the people of Israel, “This is the thing that the Lord has commanded. Take from among you a contribution to the Lord. Whoever is of a generous heart, let him bring the Lord‘s contribution: gold, silver, and bronze; blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen; goats’ hair, tanned rams’ skins, and goatskins; acacia wood, oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, and onyx stones and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breastpiece.

10 “Let every skillful craftsman among you come and make all that the Lord has commanded: 11 the tabernacle, its tent and its covering, its hooks and its frames, its bars, its pillars, and its bases; 12 the ark with its poles, the mercy seat, and the veil of the screen; 13 the table with its poles and all its utensils, and the bread of the Presence; 14 the lampstand also for the light, with its utensils and its lamps, and the oil for the light; 15 and the altar of incense, with its poles, and the anointing oil and the fragrant incense, and the screen for the door, at the door of the tabernacle; 16 the altar of burnt offering, with its grating of bronze, its poles, and all its utensils, the basin and its stand; 17 the hangings of the court, its pillars and its bases, and the screen for the gate of the court; 18 the pegs of the tabernacle and the pegs of the court, and their cords; 19 the finely worked garments for ministering in the Holy Place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, for their service as priests.”

20 Then all the congregation of the people of Israel departed from the presence of Moses. 21 And they came, everyone whose heart stirred him, and everyone whose spirit moved him, and brought the Lord‘s contribution to be used for the tent of meeting, and for all its service, and for the holy garments. 22 So they came, both men and women. All who were of a willing heart brought brooches and earrings and signet rings and armlets, all sorts of gold objects, every man dedicating an offering of gold to the Lord. 23 And every one who possessed blue or purple or scarlet yarns or fine linen or goats’ hair or tanned rams’ skins or goatskins brought them. 24 Everyone who could make a contribution of silver or bronze brought it as the Lord‘s contribution. And every one who possessed acacia wood of any use in the work brought it. 25 And every skillful woman spun with her hands, and they all brought what they had spun in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen. 26 All the women whose hearts stirred them to use their skill spun the goats’ hair. 27 And the leaders brought onyx stones and stones to be set, for the ephod and for the breastpiece, 28 and spices and oil for the light, and for the anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense. 29 All the men and women, the people of Israel, whose heart moved them to bring anything for the work that the Lord had commanded by Moses to be done brought it as a freewill offering to the Lord.

Construction of the Tabernacle

30 Then Moses said to the people of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; 31 and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, 32 to devise artistic designs, to work in gold and silver and bronze, 33 in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, for work in every skilled craft. 34 And he has inspired him to teach, both him and Oholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan. 35 He has filled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by an embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, or by a weaver—by any sort of workman or skilled designer. 1. Old man new heart, thankful for the Healer when none deserve it!!! says:

Ex 35:20-21 Then the whole Israelite community withdrew from Moses’ presence, and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the Tent of Meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments.

“Everyone who was willing and whose heart was moved” – two important criteria for those who want to pay the cost of following Christ… It’s not that everyone else in our small group is doing it or that your parents make you do it either. God wants us to be willing and He will move our new hearts to do His work. Not to be saved but because we are saved by Him. Do you have the inner desire and motivation to pay the cost?

  2. Truth Warrior says:

30 Then Moses said to the Israelites, “See, the LORD has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah,

31 and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts-

As Christians God gives us, the skill and the ability or the gifts and the talents to carry out his works or his commands. Its tough being a Christian is not easy to live for God in this world. But God has given us the Holy Spirit to guide and direct us through life. If the Holy Spirt is dwelling in us then we should be displaying the fruits of the spirit on a regular basis The fruits of the Spirit are love, joyh, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Are these fruits displayed in your life? If you are Christian than they are, if these characteristics don’t describe you. Then you need to test and examine yourself to see if you are in the faith. Remember that God give us the strength to carry out his commands. Lord please give me the desire, passion, and strenght to glorify you in all i do. Trust in the Lord!

2 Corinthians 9:8And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

  3. Jacob Decker says:

32 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze,
33 to cut and set stones, to work in wood and to engage in all kinds of artistic craftsmanship.
34 And he has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach others.
35 He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as craftsmen, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them master craftsmen and designers.

Now the Israelites are able to do magnificent things. Also, granting the ability to teach others. It is somewhat similar in the way that God blesses us with gifts. God made us just the way He wanted us to be and we should always take each day with our head held high, best foot forward, and a Christian attitude to where we shouldn’t blend in with everyone else, spread the Gospel, save someone from the darkness, be a Christian example…we are True Christians…warriors of Christ.

  4. Beth Lauder says:

22 All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the LORD.

It is important to note that God did not command certain people to bring specific things for the Tabernacle. He asked all who were WILLING to bring whatever offering their hearts led them to bring. In our church we are not called into Pastor Mike’s office every year and told where and how we will serve our church for the next year. No, the leadership at Compass presents service needs before the congregation and we are asked to pray about serving in that area. It is important that when needs arise at our church that we are willing to meet those needs. Right now we are planning our biggest outreach event of the year- Eggstravaganza. Our church needs hundreds of volunteers to pull off this event. It is going to be held on Good Friday and most of us are off that day because of Spring Break. Wouldn’t it be great if several True Northers were willing to inflate balloons, hide eggs, and paint faces as an offering to the Lord? I pray that all of us would be willing to give what we have to serve God and help bring more people to a saving faith in Christ!

  5. Murphy Danahy says:

4 Moses said to the whole Israelite community, “This is what the LORD has commanded:

Come on guys, we need more posts!!!! Ok, we need to obey what the LORD commands. We need to follow his word completely. If we fail, ok, that is what forgivness is for. Remeber, however, we are not saved by our works, but by our faith in christ.

  6. I really liked how many times this chapter mentions that different people were filled with different skills and that they were to come, if they were willing, and use those for the Lord. If you are a Christian you have a gift or spiritual skill that we need to be willing to use for the Lord by serving the church. It doesn’t have to be in a formal way with a title or position, but consider what God has specifically skilled you at and if you are using that for Him to benefit His people.

  7. PaYtOn :] says:

WHOA! there a lot of different things to offer for different things to GOD. I like how now all we have to offer is ourselves to God and give Him the best of all.(it seems so much easier) but the sad thing is that a lot of people can’t do that. :[ Read Romans 12:2, it talks about not conforming to the world and giving yourself to God. :]

***OFFER YOUR BODIES AS LIVING SACRIFICES, HOLY AND PLEASING TO GOD!!!***

  8. PaYtOn :] says:

    oh and Romans 12:1 :]

  9. Bobby Blakey says:

I like how it says that God gave Bezalel and Oholiab skillz. These were the guys who could start using the offering to make the tabernacle. But I especially like how God gave them the ability to teach others:

34 And he has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach others.

God has given us natural talents and spiritual gifts. We need to use these for his glory. But let us also use these things to teach others how to serve God as well. Remember, in the great commission of Mathew 29…all of us are supposed to teach others. We need to stay Strong in the grace of Christ so we can Pass it on (2 Timothy 2:1-2)!!!

  10. Jasmine Douglas says:

10 “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the LORD has commanded.

Everyone has a part to play- there is no Christian excluded from serving. Ephesians 4:15-16 says, “Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” All parts of the body have equal concern for one another and we need each part to function. This is why it’s important we contribute to serving the Lord and each other, and using the gifts he has given us for his glory!

  11. 10 “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the LORD has commanded.

I am goign to second what Jasmine said….we are all part of one body and each of us has an integral part in the workign and functioning of the body. In Romans 12 we read, “Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.” Our spiritual gift(s) were not given to us to use for ourselves or to leave unused, they were used to serve the believers so lets be faitfhul with what God has entrusted to us, be obedient, and serve!

    new blog :)

  12. Meisha Preston says:

22 All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the LORD.

The people willing gave what they had to the Lord so that they could build the tabernacle. We need to give willingly to the work of the Lord as well. This involves both our time and our money.

  13. Ben Blakey says:

When we are honest about it, the truth is that the Lord has given all of us certain and different natural abilities, as well as spiritual gifts that we could potentially use in his service. But it comes down to a question that kept coming up in my mind as I read this chapter: Are you willing?

I hope this chapter encourages us to be willing to use whatever gifts we have (whether music or money or teaching or building or encouragement or whatever) to serve the Lord.

May we take God’s word to heart today!

  14. Brad says:

The motive for our free-will offering to God, whether our gifts or skills, is to remembering that He gave us those things in the first place.

  15. Dan Lauder says:

21 and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the Tent of Meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments.

God loves a cheerful giver (2Corinthians 9:7). We are all called to give to God with our resources to support the ministry of the church. This should not be done reluctantly or under compulsion but with gratitude and thanks giving. The amount we are willing to give directly correlates to how much we trust God. I love how God tells us in Malachi 3:10 to “test me in this” and to watch how he responds with His inexhaustable blessings.

  16. Dillon says:

This is encouraging. People bring gold, silver, and other costly things they had and willingly bringing them to the Lord. Im sure there wasn’t complaining or hesitation, they took it as a command straight from God Himself. And im sure they were rewarded accordingly!

  17. 10 “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the LORD has commanded.

Good post Vanessa! We need to obey The Lord and do what he commands. As Vanessa said, we are all one body with different parts, and we have a specific gift in order to serve God. We should be living a lifestyle of serving and pleasing him in ALL we do. If God gave us a gift in the first place, we need to be using it to glorify God and encouraging others in Christ!

  18. Matt Crane says:

This chapter was Good, But I just read a verse that I thought was really good!

    1 Samuel 15:22-
Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than to sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.

I like this verse so much! The Lord does not delight in death obviously, but what he wants from us is complete obediance through his son Christ. Lets do it!

  19. Mechell says:

Then the whole Israelite community withdrew from Moses’ presence,
21 and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the Tent of Meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments.

As we read back in Exodus 12:35-36 the people had plundered the Egyptians before departing from the land. Here the Israelites have an opportunity to give back to the Lord. Do we really consider that everything we have is a gift from God? God gives us good gifts but are we selfish when we have the opportunity to give back? We can give our time, money or talents to the Lord everyday but often our hearts are not willing. My prayer is that our hearts would be moved to serve Him with an unselfish attitude, out of the abundance He has given to us.

  20. It's Daniel Yo! says:

22 All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the LORD.

This is great how the people of israel came together and donated their stuff to God. It shows how flip-floppy they are in their loyalty to God as well (a few chapters ago they made a golden calf)

  21. Kyle Johnson, da homie! says:

10 “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the LORD has commanded:

First word that comes to mind when I read this verse is serving! We all have different skillz and we should be using those skillz to help the church out and helping your brothers n sisters in Christ. Weather it is encouraging or setting up chairs.

  22. Snowmann says:

29 All the Israelite men and women who were willing brought to the LORD freewill offerings for all the work the LORD through Moses had commanded them to do.

God’s people humbly obeyed God and served him with whatever talents or skills he had bestowed upon them. So should we

  23. Luke Melrose!!!!!! says:

2 For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death.

They really took the sabath day seriously! I think we can say that it has changed alot since then. Back then you would be put to death if you worked on the sabath! God made this day holy because it was the day that he rested after he made His creation.

  24. Julia Bradley says:

I agree with Christa. Serving doesn’t have to be formal, we should be willing to serve Him with our time and talents at ALL times. This includes opportunities at church, school, home, and work. Recognize the gifts God has given you and be willing to use them for Him.

  25. Janiel V says:

31 and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts-

God gave us the skills and talents that we currently have for a reason; just because you are good in a sport, or really aristic, or musically gifted, that we wont have chances to serve the Lord. in fact, we can witness to people via our talents
I agree with Christa and Julia-that serving doesnt have to be formal.

  26. Kaitlyn says:

20 Then the whole Israelite community withdrew from Moses’ presence,
21 and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the Tent of Meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments.
22 All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the LORD.

Just like everyone is saying in their comments, this chapter is all about willingness to serve and do what God wants! God has given us each specific spiritual gifts used to serve Him and build up the church. People’s willingness to serve God is the reason Compass Bible Church is Compass Bible Church! Everyone serving at Compass has recognized their gifts from God and are WILLING to serve Him! I am praying that God will make known to us our spiritual gifts (if he has not already) so that we can use them to serve at church!

    1 Corinthians 14:12

  27. Adam Duarte says:

This chapter shows how no matter what skills we have, we are able to serve the Lord in ways that are pleasing to Him. Just the same we should be using those skills and attributes to serve Him because we want to!

  28. Katie Slusher says:

The major thing that I noticed in this passage is the various types of gifts that is being discussed:
    1) Skills God has given us- like the master craftsmen who used their abilities to construct the tabernacle
    2) Things/Possessions God has given to us- Those who brought gold and silver to be used for the contruction
    3) The Spiritual gifts that God has given us- Specifically Bezalel and Oholiab, who were given the gift of teaching.

It’s important to realize that ALL of these gifts and abilities can be used for God’s service! We need to start focusing on using the gifts he has given us to bring Him Glory!

  29. Allen McAnlis says:

29 All the Israelite men and women who were willing brought to the LORD freewill offerings for all the work the LORD through Moses had commanded them to do.

This is what we should all do. Finally the Israelites are obeying God and following His commands. They brought all of their prized jewlery and did what God commanded them to do with it. We need to be able to give up our prized possesions or free time for God’s commands.

  30. Spencer Camp says:

I love this picture of the Israelites, working together, utilizing their God given talents, being one in purpose, serving the Lord in unity. I look at this and then compare it to our church as a family and am kind of shocked. Although we do come together a few times a week to fellowship, do we really have it in our hearts that we are one in Christ? I believe this portrait of all the Israelites coming together to further glorify God in Heaven by the building of the tabernacle is a wonderful example that all of us should follow. I am personally setting up a challenge for my self as well as anyone who reads this to follow the command of John 17:22-23:
“I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”

  31. Mike says:

One of the major themes throughout this chapter is that the Lord is looking for those ‘who are willing’ to serve Him. He does not care at all about what you can bring to the table if your heart is not in it. And likewise, even if you do not have much, when you give it to Him and trust Him to provide for you, He will not forsake us. We need to make sure that we are not coming to church or reading our Bibles because that’s what we’re ‘supposed to do’; it needs to be something that we find delight in, and that we are eagerly looking for opportunities to do!

  32. Beth Williams says:

26 And all the women who were willing and had the skill spun the goat hair.

Service to God requires pure motives. These women had to be “willing” to sacrifice their time to do something for God. This reminds me of Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.”

  33. 10 “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the LORD has commanded.

As God says we neeed to obey alll his commands
and now that we are saved we said we would
start living for him and not ourseleves so Now
we have to always follow his commands!!!

  34. The tabernacle sounds beautiful with all the materials.

10 “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the LORD has commanded:

We all have different talents and skills God gave us that we can give back to Him. We can serve him with this and let our skills glorify and honor God like the Israelites did with making the tabernacle and giving their gold jewelry. We might not have gold jewlery, fine linen, or silver but we have the time to make/do things that God calls us to do.

  35. Natasha B :) says:

10 “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the LORD has commanded:
35 He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as craftsmen, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them master craftsmen and designers.

I think its awesome to know that all of us are special and unique in our own way. God has given each of us gifts and talents so that we can utilaize them for others and mainly for His purposes in each of us. Its important to know what your special gift is so that if you do serve in a church or any community (but mainly a church) you would be placed in a area that is suitable for you. That way you will be a blessing not only to God but also to others. Sometimes it takes a while to know what your special gift is, but once you know it, pray to God and he will strenthen you and help you blossom. :) I thank God for the gifts he has given me, and i give honor and glory to Him.

  36. Riley Hancock says:

    5 From what you have, take an offering for the LORD. Everyone who is willing is to bring to the LORD an offering of gold, silver and bronze;

    6 blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair;

    7 ram skins dyed red and hides of sea cows ; acacia wood;

    8 olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense;

9 and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece.

We need to make diciples of God that is what we can give to God.

  37. jeff says:

29 All the Israelite men and women who were willing brought to the LORD freewill offerings for all the work the LORD through Moses had commanded them to do.

This reminds me that we need to do what God tells us to do and not procrastinate. so lets do it this weak.

  38. Christy Beymer says:

    5 From what you have, take an offering for the LORD. Everyone who is willing is to bring to the LORD an offering of gold, silver and bronze;

This was one of the main things that stood out to me when i was reading this passage. That our offering is not how much we give or who has given the most, but its just out of willingness and what we have. There’s that story i heard of how these rich guys gave an offering to the church and this poor lady gave a few coins. and she got mocked for how little she gave, but in the end she gave more because that was all she had. We should always give to the Lord. From spending extra time reading the bible to praying more often.

  39. Alison says:

    Amen Payton!

Another chapter on using what God gives you to serve Him. Once we’ve been forgiven of our sin, its the least we can do to devote our entire lives (which He has saved) to Him!

  40. Cameron says:

35 He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as craftsmen, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them master craftsmen and designers.

imagine all of the pressure that these guys felt when they had to build the Tabernacle, the place for God’s dwelling in His Shekinah. it must have been intense! however they were not alone. they had God helping them all along, and He was their councilor. today, when we preach the Word, or evangelize, or confront someone on sin, we are not alone. if we are saved by the Lord, then He sends us His Spirit, who dwells in us and helps us. even when we are afraid or are feeling nervous, we can rely on the Spirit within us

  41. Laura Johnson says:

This chapter was really good at explaining how God has given everyone special talents, we need to work hard at developing our talents and to use them for God’s glory. Also in the chapter it talked about giving. Giving is something that we can only do from our hearts. And, as Christians we need to truly be giving to others, look how much God has given us. Even little things can be really appreciated by someone. We can use our passion for Christ in helping out others.

  42. Kelsey says:

21 and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the Tent of Meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments.
22 All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the LORD.
23 Everyone who had blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen, or goat hair, ram skins dyed red or hides of sea cows brought them.
24 Those presenting an offering of silver or bronze brought it as an offering to the LORD, and everyone who had acacia wood for any part of the work brought it.
25 Every skilled woman spun with her hands and brought what she had spun—blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen.

These people were willing to give all of their most valuable things to the Lord. They offered God their time, money, and valuables. And this jewelry and purple cloths were probably the most valuable things that they actually owned considering they did not have their own land, homes, or cars. it was probably a lot to give up their jewelry and nice clothes. If they can do that, the least we could do is donate a little bit of our time to God and being in his word

  43. Shelby says:

I echo what Christa and Julia said. Everybody has a gift that should be used for the Lord. We need to be ready to serve with our talents and ability because God gave it to us for a reason. This is helpful and encouraging to realize that work doesn’t have to be formal but we should use those skills given to us for the benefit of his people.

  44. Kiana says:

I really like your comment, Mechell!! I think you are so right when you say that we take advantage of what gifts God gave us. We dont thank Him enough for what he provides for us. We expect Him to give us the things we want and that is totally selfish. I need to be more content with what I have and not ask God for things I do not need.

  45. Jenae Naeeee (= says:

This sounds like a really humbling chapter. We(I) need to be more thankful for what God gives me and give something back to him!!

  46. Jacob Foreman says:

This passage reall reminds me that we need to use the gifts, talents, and abilities we have been blessed with from the Lord and use them for God. We bring glory to God when we use these gifts for Him. We aren’t forced into using these for God, but we should feel compelled to do everything we can to give back to Him and use our gifts in His name.

  47. Trembling from fear of God B says:

I know, this is weird but I feel like I’ve already commented on this three times. I’ve been thinking about this exact chapter for three days now and how God gives certain people skills that others will not have to help build up the church and others. Maybe it was a dream, because I also remember texting someone talking about it too…. I’m so lost. But yes, I love this chapter! :D

  48. Princess Di says:

We have so much to offer God! He has blessed us all in so many ways and He can bless others through us as well. But there are so many ways in which we can give back to him, which is one of the most important things to do. We must give ourselves up to the Lord so that He can shine through us. And we need to use what He has given us because they are gifts given specifically to us for a purpose. We’re woven into God’s plan by the gifts He has given to each of us.

  49. christopher eriksen says:

21 and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the Tent of Meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments.

Its cool how Israel got together and gave what they had to the LORD, not because they were forced to but because they were willing and their hearts had been moved. We can’t just live the Christian life as a list of things to do, we should have a desire that motivates us to serve God in everything we do. This desire prompted the Israelites not only to give, but to give the best they had-precious metals, fine lines, special wood, etc. In the same way, we need to give the best we have to God and seek Him first, not live half-heartedly.

  50. Cody Nord says:

I like how after finally coming to accept God the Israelites were made anew. They were no longer the same people. They were new people alive in God

21 and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the Tent of Meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments

this pass also shows how God has given us free will. “everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him”. Even though free will also causes us to sin it also allows us to chose God and Christ as our Savior. God rejoices when we turn to him out of own choices. So we should go out and get more people to chose to turn to God.

10 “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the LORD has commanded:

i definetly agree with kyle on this like the lord has blessed us with so many different things and abilities and if we have a certain skill we should be using it for something for the lord and like serving in one of the ministries at church.

  52. Never Take David Personal says:

One thing that I got from this chapter is that we need to be using both the spiritual gifts and the physical talents that God has given us to serve him. If we have spiritual gifts like teaching or encouraging but we are not using them for God life is basicly pointless…also if we have a physical talent but we are using it for ourselves it is just stupid and sinful…Live for Christ!!!!

    6 blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair;

    7 ram skins dyed red and hides of sea cows ; acacia wood;

first off i have a question… Why were the offerings they were to bring so specifc? like blue and purple linen? why not green or somthing else?

also in my Bible lit class we went over the tabernacle and how every year one person which is the high priest can go in and no body else is ever aloud in. But before he goes in he has to sacrifice and offering, do the Holy water thingy showing an outward sign of an internal reality and then he goes into the special room…. but he has to have confessed and repented of EVERY sin or when he goes in if he did not fully confess every sin he drops dead!!!! thankfully we tie a rope to him since we can’t go in, soooo we drag the dead body out… kinda gross but at least we don’t leave him in there and wait a year til the new high priest can go in and find a dead ugly body laying there… YUCK. sooo that’s wat i learned in Bible lit =)

  54. kelly causky says:

1 Moses assembled the whole Israelite community and said to them, “These are the things the LORD has commanded you to do:

What has the Lord commanded us to do? The first step to obedience is understanding what God’s commandments are for us. We learn this by reading the Bible. A few things include:
evangelizing to non-christians, loving one another, honoring parents…
God gave us many things we must do and had them written down in a book that we all have available to us.. let’s not take this for granted, but instead be obedient.

  55. Alex Mishreki says:

22 All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the LORD.

Obviously, these people were not laying before the Lord their “meager” portions. Instead, they were sacrificing everything to Him– the best of what they had! Gold jewelry, earrings, rings… things of high value! Are we that way with the Lord? Do we willingly offer to Him the things that are “dearest” to us? Maybe, in our lives today, this could mean giving up an instrument, a trendy-phone, anything of this world that the Lord wants us to “give up” to Him. It’s a good reminder to make sure that we are keeping the Lord as number one in our lives! And sacrificing all we have to Him!

  56. Zach Senger says:

This chapter is really cool. I see a change in thischapter. The people are now giving all their gold and silver and possessions to God not to make a calf an idol to worship but to the true God. It is so awsome to see that they are not turning from their God to make idols but turning to Him and offering all that they have!!!!!!!!

10 “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the LORD has commanded.

When God gives us a command, most of the time he is speaking to each and every one of us. There are no excuses when it comes to obeying God. We need to be 24/7 on fire for Jesus Christ each and every minute of the day.

  58. Dan Blankenship says:

    Exodus 35

Ex 35:10 “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the LORD has commanded:
Ex 35:21 and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the Tent of Meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments.

I have said this before and I am going to say it again. You are not living until you are serving! God has commanded us as Christians to serve Him thru service. The Israelites here were coming together and pooling their (God given) skilz to bring God Glory. How fitting that this weekend Compass Bible Church is hosting a Ministry Fair this weekend. I would implore all of you True Norther’s to go this weekend and check out the opportunities to serve here at CBC. I challenge you to serve the Lord with all your heart and all your soul.

Ezra 7:19 The vessels that have been given • you for the service of the house of your God, you shall deliver before the God of Jerusalem.

  59. Rebekah Foreman says:

10 “All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the LORD has commanded

We need to use are gifts and strengths to serve the Lord and have Him be glorified through that. For God commands us to use are gifts let’s do it.

22 All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the LORD

I agree with Zach they have now changed. They give everything now to God and we should do the same even if it is are favorite toy, item, etc. Give everything to God.
