Exodus 25

Contributions for the Sanctuary

25:1 The Lord said to Moses, “Speak to the people of Israel, that they take for me a contribution. From every man whose heart moves him you shall receive the contribution for me. And this is the contribution that you shall receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze, blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, goats’ hair, tanned rams’ skins, goatskins, acacia wood, oil for the lamps, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, onyx stones, and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breastpiece. And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst. Exactly as I show you concerning the pattern of the tabernacle, and of all its furniture, so you shall make it.

The Ark of the Covenant

10 “They shall make an ark of acacia wood. Two cubits and a half shall be its length, a cubit and a half its breadth, and a cubit and a half its height. 11 You shall overlay it with pure gold, inside and outside shall you overlay it, and you shall make on it a molding of gold around it. 12 You shall cast four rings of gold for it and put them on its four feet, two rings on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it. 13 You shall make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. 14 And you shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry the ark by them. 15 The poles shall remain in the rings of the ark; they shall not be taken from it. 16 And you shall put into the ark the testimony that I shall give you.

17 “You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold. Two cubits and a half shall be its length, and a cubit and a half its breadth. 18 And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work shall you make them, on the two ends of the mercy seat. 19 Make one cherub on the one end, and one cherub on the other end. Of one piece with the mercy seat shall you make the cherubim on its two ends. 20 The cherubim shall spread out their wings above, overshadowing the mercy seat with their wings, their faces one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubim be. 21 And you shall put the mercy seat on the top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I shall give you. 22 There I will meet with you, and from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim that are on the ark of the testimony, I will speak with you about all that I will give you in commandment for the people of Israel.

The Table for Bread

23 “You shall make a table of acacia wood. Two cubits shall be its length, a cubit its breadth, and a cubit and a half its height. 24 You shall overlay it with pure gold and make a molding of gold around it. 25 And you shall make a rim around it a handbreadth wide, and a molding of gold around the rim. 26 And you shall make for it four rings of gold, and fasten the rings to the four corners at its four legs. 27 Close to the frame the rings shall lie, as holders for the poles to carry the table. 28 You shall make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold, and the table shall be carried with these. 29 And you shall make its plates and dishes for incense, and its flagons and bowls with which to pour drink offerings; you shall make them of pure gold. 30 And you shall set the bread of the Presence on the table before me regularly.

The Golden Lampstand

31 “You shall make a lampstand of pure gold. The lampstand shall be made of hammered work: its base, its stem, its cups, its calyxes, and its flowers shall be of one piece with it. 32 And there shall be six branches going out of its sides, three branches of the lampstand out of one side of it and three branches of the lampstand out of the other side of it; 33 three cups made like almond blossoms, each with calyx and flower, on one branch, and three cups made like almond blossoms, each with calyx and flower, on the other branch—so for the six branches going out of the lampstand. 34 And on the lampstand itself there shall be four cups made like almond blossoms, with their calyxes and flowers, 35 and a calyx of one piece with it under each pair of the six branches going out from the lampstand. 36 Their calyxes and their branches shall be of one piece with it, the whole of it a single piece of hammered work of pure gold. 37 You shall make seven lamps for it. And the lamps shall be set up so as to give light on the space in front of it. 38 Its tongs and their trays shall be of pure gold. 39 It shall be made, with all these utensils, out of a talent of pure gold. 40 And see that you make them after the pattern for them, which is being shown you on the mountain. 1. Pastor Bobby says:

As Moses meets with God on the mountain, God begins to describe the central place of worship for the Israelites: the tabernacle. I encourage you to read this chapter but I also issue this special challenge:

FIND A VERSE ABOUT HOW WE ARE SUPPOSED TO WORSHIP GOD TODAY IN THE NEW TESTATMENT and leave it in your comment!

Hope to see everyone at True North United on Wednesday night at the church! Let me just put it like this…it will be magically delicious!

  2. As a response to the this quetion, kyle johnson says booyeah:

John 4:23 “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.”

  3. Mike says:

Romans 12:1 – Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

our worship is not just the songs that we sing, although that can be part of it. We need to be daily dying to our sinful nature and its desires and living to bring glory to Christ. The kind of worship that we are supposed to bring before God is an all-encompassing offering of our entire lives, not holding anything back from Him but living to please Him in everything that we say, think, and do.

  4. Old man new heart, thankful for a just and loving God says:

John 4:19-21 19″Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.” Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.

Jesus tells us at the well that He is the Living Water and we worship Him!

  5. M@x says:

Hebrews 12:28- Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,

This is just an awesome verse i found in response to Bobby’s challenge. It says we are to worship the Lord with reverance and awe for Him. He is so amazing and holy we can’t even comprehend it. We have to keep in our minds that we’re just puny humans and we are like dirt compared to God. Also, we have to be thankful for all He gives us! We need to be thankful that He chose us, He hand selected His people. Let’s be thankful!

  6. Adam Duarte says:

Hebrews 13:15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name.

Amen to that! We should be daily confessing his name to everyone around us, and living for Him.

  7. Beth Lauder says:

Romans 12:1 – Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

Mike, this is one of my favorite verses on how we are to worship God so I am going to comment on it, too! We must offer our whole selves to Christ…every single part of our lives. True worship means that we are holding nothing back from the Lord, but willing to make Him the boss in all areas of our lives. If we are to offer our whole selves to God this is not going to be easy, but with the enabling power of the Holy Spirit it is possible. We are going to feel the “spiritual burn” if we let go of our fleshly desires and the influesnces of the world to follow Christ with 100% devotion, but our rewards in heaven will be more than worth it!

  8. Murphy Danahy says:

14 Insert the poles into the rings on the sides of the chest to carry it.
15 The poles are to remain in the rings of this ark; they are not to be removed.
16 Then put in the ark the Testimony, which I will give you.
17 “Make an atonement cover of pure gold—two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide.

Wow, look at the level of devotion the Israelites put into their work. They made items of pure gold to honor GOD. Do we have this kind of love and dvotion towards GOD???

  9. “Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.” Psalm 99:5

Do we really live lives that worship God? A lot of times people think that “worship” is the 15-20 minutes of singing we have during service on the weekend but worship is the way we are supposed to live our lives…worshipping should characterize our life, we want to bring Him glory and honor and praise in ALL we do. He is HOLY and set apart and deserves our praise.

  10. Ella says:

    responding to pastor bobby’s request.:)
1 corinthians 14: 26 26What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church.

  11. Meisha Preston says:

Acts 13:2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

We don’t really fast anymore. Yet this was a common way to worship the Lord in the New Testament. Anytime there was a big decision to be made the disciples would fast and pray. The Pharisees fasted incorrectly as they let everyone know they were fasting. But Jesus in Matthew 6:16 instructs his disciples how to fast properly.

  12. Ryan Damato says:

Does God always demand the best of everything or what?? I love to see the detail that God lays out and the expectation of his people to follow it exactly. Kinda similar to what was to come for us as well! Christ came and demands our best and is very detailed in how we are to live live and obey. My question is: do we give him our best? Just as Ben Blakey taught this weekend, are we giving God’s word the number 1 spot in our hearts or are we building the alter with scrap wood?

  13. Jasmine Douglas says:

John 4:23-24 “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

If we worship God- we will become like him! He is so holy and sovereign- that alone is enough reason to worship and praise him! How much time do we spend with God thanking him for all that he’s done in our lives? We need to set time aside every day to have our entire focus on our creator. After-all, it’s because of his love and mercy that we are all alive and well.

  14. Dan Lauder says:

    Sorry but I went OT.

Psalm 95:6 – “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.”

True worship of God is always humble. When we begin to see our utter lack of holiness compared to his perfect holiness there is no other response but to fall to our knees and put our face down in humility. When individuals see God in the Bible (ex. Isaiah 6:1-5) they react with expressions that show their unworthiness like “Woe to me”, “I am ruined” because they recognize in vivid detail how far they fall below God’s standard. They realize that they don’t meet the mark and deserve punishment for their sins, no question about it. That is the attitude we should all have as we worship God with our lives. And how thankful we should be that Christ has taken the punishment of our sins upon himself so that our relationship with God can be healed (Isaiah 53:5).

  15. Katie Slusher says:

I Corinthians 10:31: So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

I love this verse because it reminds us that we can be worshipping God in ALL that we do! We can give him glory while we hang out with friends, or while we are doing homework, or while we are at work. I think we all need to take a moment to look at the different areas of our lives and see if we are giving Him glory in all that we do! A few weeks ago I wrote down the different activities that I did each day and wrote how I could specifically bring God glory through each task. It really changed my perspective to focus on glorifying God in ALL I do!

  16. Taylin Reinholtz says:

    Reponse to Bobby’s challenge:
I sort of found a verse to go with how we are supposed to worship.
    Hebrews 10:1-7
The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming- not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once and for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said:
“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. Then I said, ‘Here I am- it is written about me in the scroll- I have come to do your will, O God.’”

We worship God not only by singing. In the Old Testament you could worship God by offering a sacrifice to Him to cleanse you of your sins. In the New Testament, you can worship God by doing God’s will. In the New Testament, burnt offerings or any other kind of offering that went on the Alter of Sacrifice were no longer accepted. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for us to have eternal life with him. This was worship to God and Jesus did God’s will.
I don’t know if this scripture really applies to what Bobby asked, but it kind of spoke to me in a different way.

  17. PaYtOn :] says:

“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’”
    ~Luke 4:8

“The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
    ~Mattew 25:40

When we serve God we serve others and one way to worship God is to serve Him we can serve others. So we need to get out there and preach His name and serve others for Jesus came to serve us and we need to be Christ followers and serve others. That is how we can worship. :]

***REMEMBER to have a servant’s heart, like Jesus***

  18. Cameron says:

Ephesians 5:18-20. we are to worship got not with drunkenness, but by being filled with the Holy Spirit. it is so cool that we see all of these intense offering systems and how everything needed to be pure for the Lord our God. He is holy and perfect, therefore He needs the best of the best, and nothing can be unclean. it is really neat to see how Christ shed His blood as the ultimate sacrifice in place of the animals.

  19. christopher eriksen says:

John 4:24 “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

Reading how God made specific directions for the tabernacle, shows that God has told us how to worship Him. This may not be that we have to be offering sacrifices, but it does mean that we need to be following His commands and looking to glorify Him. If we aren’t living according to His word, then our worship will mean nothing. But besides just worshiping the correct way, we need to be doing it from the heart and not just live life going through the motions. Our life should be dedicated to worship and we need to do this by obeying God’s commands and looking to know, love, and serve Him with our entire lives.

  20. Sarah G.! says:

1 Peter 4:11 “If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and power for ever and ever. Amen.”

Such a phenomenal verse!!! That in everything we do, we do it through God!! That is an awesome way to worship the Lord right there!! May our words and may the way we serve glorify our Lord Jesus Christ everyday!! :D

  21. Trembling From Fear of The Lord, B says:

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

Like Ben went over this weekend, even as we sing, we should dwell on His Word. I love praise songs that come straight from God’s Word! *cough, cough Micah 7:7*

6 Ezra praised the Lord, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, “Amen! Amen!” Then they bowed down and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground.
AND I’ll FALLLLLLLLL FACE DOWN! :O I love that song too!

and for the passage today. Many times it said that the things of the tabernacle had to made of pure gold. Just as we are to be pure before God! :O
And so many instructions! God gives Moses so many little details and things that he must follow and Moses follows every single one of them! It just made me think, How many times does God give us instructions each day and how many times do we just ignore it? Makes you wonder…LET US BE RIGHTEOUS BEFORE OUR CREATOR AND EVERYONE AROUND US SO THAT THEY MAY ALSO BELIEVE! :D

  22. Kaitlyn says:

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

    Ephesians 5:19-20
Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Both of these verses tell us the same thing, worshiping God by singing psalms hymns and spiritual songs to Him. By singing songs to Him, we bring Him glory and it is a practical way for us to be worshiping Him everyday. : )

  23. Christy Beymer says:

1 Timothy 2:8 “I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing”

This verse is talking about the importance of prayer. Worshiping God is far more then just singing. It is from prayer to using are spiritual gifts inorder to glorify God. This verse is focusing on prayer and how important it is. We cant be praying with anger, we have to come full heartedly to the Lord and be focused on him. Not with the problems that are angering us, even though we can pray for them. We just need to trust God and remember he has a plan for us and there is a reason for every trial and hurdle he places in our lives.

  24. Jacob Antoun says:

Hebrews 12:28 “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe”

We are called to worship God with reverence and awe. I think sometimes we forget how powerful and mighty the God we worship is. He is the creator of all existence and the Lord over everything. When we worship, we should be falling facedown before the God that has plucked us from bondage in sin and given us eternal life through His son!

  25. Angela says:

This is just God showing that you need to give him 100% and the best of you. No matter who you are or what you have, God commands for you to give him your all, the absolute best out of you!

  26. ^^
beth i really like what you said
about how we have to sacrifice ourselves to God!!
And how we cant go back… also how he is our boss
and we have to do everything he tells us to!(:

  27. Brick-E says:

Revelation 4:8 “Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”

Even though this verse is talking about strange looking creatures, the same principle applies to human worship as well. We need to NEVER STOP worshiping the LORD!!! Like the beasts in Heaven we need to continuously sing, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.” AMEN. :)

  28. Riley Hancock says:

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, Heb 12:28

help me to go to evangilism night.

  29. Beth Williams says:

    Philippians 3:2-3

“Watch out for those dogs, those men who do evil, those mutilators of the flesh. For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spriit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh–”

Worship is a characteristic of a Christian which separates them clearly from a nonbeliever. In fact, worship is the first thing Paul uses to describe a Christian in this verse. My study Bible defines worship as “to render respectful spiritual service.” Worship can take many forms such as music and obedience, but in this definition it sounds like meditation. Like Ben said in the sermon this weekend, meditation is thinking and reflecting on God’s Word. Let’s do this today!

  30. Julia Bradley says:

    Luke 4:2
“And Jesus answered him, ‘It is written, you shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve’.”

Jesus was in the midst of great temptation in this verse, and his response to devil was that we are to worship the Lord. Put nothing before Him. This is how we need to be living!

  31. tyler M says:

    1 Corinthians 14:24-25
“But if an unbeliever or someone who does not understand[a]comes in while everybody is prophesying, he will be convinced by all that he is a sinner and will be judged by all, and the secrets of his heart will be laid bare. So he will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, “God is really among you!”

God here is commanding Moses and the Israelites make themselves a place to worship and to be with God. That must have really been cool to go there! Although now, after the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we don’t have to go to a special place of worship but now we can directly talk to God through prayer.

  32. Janiel V (C.S.T) says:

    Hosea 6:1-2
1″Come, let us return to the Lord; for he has torn us, that He may heal us; he has struck down, and he will bind us up.
2 After two days he will revive us;on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him

God is a jealous God, but He is also just. why is it that we seem “strong” at sunday, but we weaken as the week goes? i think its because we dont really meditate on God’s word. Amen to that, beth. I totally agree with you.

  33. Allen McAnlis says:

This is so amazing to hear how the Arc of the Covenant was made. All this time and precision was used to show just how amazing it was. The fine detail put into it let the people know that this was something that was not to be taken lightly. God knew how important this covenant would be to the Isrealites and also to further genertaions.

  34. Ben Blakey says:

The first verse that popped into my mind in response to Bobby’s challenge was the verse we talked about this weekend at True North–Colossians 3:16! In this verse we see how the songs we sing should flow from a heart where the word of Christ is dwelling richly!

I think sometimes we want worship to be a grand experience or we wonder why our worship is dry and emotionless. If we desire deep, rich worship, then we need to be taking God’s Word to heart!

  35. Cristina Brower CST :) says:

At every moment our heart is under attack, and Satan is trying to tempt us and draw us away from God. In a way, he slips poison into our life which slowly eats away our devotion to God.

Matthew 4:10 says, Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord you God, and serve him only.’

It is very clear in this verse that God wants us to serve Him, and Him ONLY!!

CST :) Way to go Angela, Kaitlyn, and Jasmine! Go Capo, San Juan Hills, and Tesoro!

  36. Cristina Brower CST :) says:

    and janiel! :)

  37. Mechell C.S.T :) says:

John 4:23-24 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

This verse reminds me of a recent conversation with one of our pastors. Often people worship with their emotion. They exhibit great passion but have no knowledge of the truth. Other’s may have a sound biblical doctrine but have lost all enthusiasm. There is no longer any excitement for the truth. We must worship both in spirit and in truth, they are inseparable. We must be centered on God and allow worship to flow from our hearts, based on the truth of His word, not on outward circumstances.

  38. ” Matthew 4:10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: `Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”

This verse shows that we’re only supposed to worship the one true God.

John 4:23-24 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

This is a really great verse because it shows how we’re supposed to worship- in spirit and in truth. God’s word is the ultimate truth.

John 9:38 Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.
We can worship God by faith. The man believed in Jesus and worshipped him knowing and believing he was God’s son.

  39. Kelsey says:

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

This is just like Ben talked about. We need to be singing, speaking and living Jesus’s Word. It should be in all aspects of our lives. We need to make it feel at home in our heart. If we do, people should be able to see it evident in our lives.

  40. Rebekah Foreman KEEP DOING SOTD says:

“Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.” Psalm 99:5

Give god your all. For God is holy and we need to bow down and worship Him. Worship God all day get His songs stuck in your head.

  41. jeff says:

    Romans 12:1
[ Living Sacrifices ] Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

Are we being 24/7 Christians and being ambassadors for Christ. Or do we blend in with the non Christians by listening to a crude joke, non stepping up for what we believe in, gossiping, disobeying our parents,….

  42. michelle [maranatha] says:

Romans 12:1 – Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

    wowieee great comments!!
my parents and i just did a bible study like 10 minutes ago and we talked about this verse^^^ which relates to P. Bobbys challege for us.
lets remember, the word ‘holy’ means to be set apart.
also remember that we are to be set apart from worldly things, not just the big things like sex before marriage, drugs etc….but we need to be set apart from music that is worldly and tv shows that are worldly
i can think of 100 things that we are called to be set apart from
think back to the “highschool musical” sermon. (that relates to being set apart from worldy, degrating music)
Think about the dating series.we need to have the idea of marriage and Gods plan for marriage in our heads as we enter the dating realm.Dating and marriage should be a great and godly experience…not a worldly one.
one big thing that people notice at school, that def. makes them notice that we as christians are set apart, is the fact that we dont cuss(well we should not be) and we dont participate in crude humor or gossip etc.
i rememeber this past year this kid at school came up to me and said, “i can totally tell you christian people apart because you guys are always happy and you always say its because of God and you guys dont cuss and say mean things…”
HA!!how cool is that!people actually notice.so we should take that into effect for the benefit of non christians becoming christians so that CHRISTS NAME CAN BE GLORIFIED!!!!

maranatha; Lord, come in your perfect timing!

  43. michelle [maranatha] says:

Matthew 4:10 says, Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord you God, and serve him only.’

Ah, yet another great verse(sorry i totally forgot to put this in my comment)
remember this as idols enter our lives.Make sure growing in God and praising Him is our numero uno priority!

    ‘..and serve Him only’
    mmmhmm…let me repeat that

    AND SERVE HIM ONLY!!

there are sooo many (what we view as small) wordly things that are in the way of serving God ONLY…things like music, things like the computer, things like worrying about what others think of us, things like emotions and drama….things that we wouldnt really consider idols like surfing 24/7 and not taking any time out for God…
it just really hits me hard when i really think about serving GOD only and it really should make us so determined to live a holy life as UNTO THE LORD and not to a sport or pleasing people, etc

    maranatha

  44. Brett says:

Woah, a lot of great verses on worship!

Luke 4:8 – Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’ ”

Mmmm, God needs to be first in our lives in everything we do!! And we should never cease to be worshipping him, remember, worship is not just singing songs, it is a lifestyle!!

  45. Natasha B :) says:

Ah! i want to pick a verse dat no one has picked yet. Um lets see…..

Luke 19:37-38 And as he was now approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, saying, “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the lord; peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

The multitude praised God joyfully with loud voices worshiping his name glorifying it to the highest. This reminds me when we also joyfully sing to the Lord and worship praising His name at true north! Its so awesome and encoraging to see the disciples with pure joy in their hearts singing with all their might to their father in heaven. God is delightful when we worship him. “Praise God!”

  46. Skyler Wilson says:

Luke 4:2“And Jesus answered him, ‘It is written, you shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve’.”
God needs to be our only prority he needs to be all thats in our minds We shouldnt we wershiping any other idols or any thing besides God.

  47. Alison says:

God expects the best and he wanted the sanctuary to be beautiful and high quality. He expects the same with our lives- we need to devote our best to Him!

  48. Spencer Camp says:

Revelation 19:10 “At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Let us worship the true king and God, Jesus Christ! He is worthy of our praise. Everyday whether in spirit or in truth we can be worshiping our Lord and savior. For HE is good!

  49. Cody Nord says:

Reading this passage reminded me of the message this past weekend. Just like how the Ark was made with gold and was beautiful so should our hearts be a beautiful place to house God’s spirit. We should make our heart a fit place to have the Holy Spirit.

  50. Mandi ;) says:

2 Timothy 2:25 “Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth”

This verse is so great because we as Christians are to spread the word of God to others. Paul told Timothy that he needed to be kind and gentle about the way he explains to people about the truth of Jesus Christ. We need to do the same as we go out into our high schools evangelizing. But being kind and gentle does not mean that we shouldn’t keep talking to people are give up on them. It only means that when you talk to non christians about the gospel do it in a polite and kind way that will make them want to listen, not to run away from the truth that will grant them eternal life in heaven.

  51. Jordan Anderson (: says:

Exodus 20:9 “You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,”

The Lord is serious about worship. He is a very jealous God, and wants our entire devotion. There is no half way worship, the Lord wants all of you, your either all in or all out. We need to be constantly praising our God for the wonderful things he has done, and worship him with our all of our hearts.

    (:

  52. Brandy Crane says:

i agree with cody that the ark was to be beautiful and so precisely perfect from the type of wood used to all the little measurements. we also need to watch what we allow into our hearts, take up our time, govern our conversations and so on… we also need to be sure and have a room for God to stay not just for a day, a week, or a year, but forever. Making our heart a home for God. =)

  53. Laura Johnson says:

Revelation 14:7 He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgement has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.

I totally love this verse. it will be the best thing to ever happen to those who are saved! We might not be in Heaven with our Lord yet, right now but one day we will and we need to worship God with all we got knowing one day we will all join together worshiping our reigning King in Heaven!

Revelations 15:4 Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

We get to see God’s amazing creations everyday, even if we just look in a mirror. Just
that out of so many things is enough reason to worship God for.

  54. Jacob Foreman says:

Romans 20-22: Yet he [Abraham] did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. 22This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”

Abraham is reflected on in this passage for His strong belief in God and giving glory to God through his strong faith. This strong faith and commitment is a form of worship to the Lord. I liked today’s passage because it showed how much intricate work went into brining glory to the Lord here on earth at the tabernacle.

  55. Alex Mishreki says:

John 4:23-24 “But the hour is comg, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Just like in the OT, believers are still worshiping our Heavenly Father! Yet, now we are even closer to the coming hour when the TRUE WORSHIPPERS will be known. Some of us might fool ourselves into thinking that we’re true Christians, genuine worshippers. But God’s Word says that those who really are true Christians and genuine worshippers worship Him in spirit and truth. Worshiping in “spirit” meaning, not physically, but of the heart. Worshiping in “truth”, the truth of salvation and Jesus Christ! Christians, let’s make sure we’re applying this verse to our lives and worshiping our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

  56. Revelation 4:8
And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say, “HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is THE LORD GOD, THE ALMIGHTY, WHO WAS AND WHO IS AND WHO IS TO COME.”

This is not a verse that mentions worship but it show how we are suposed to view God when we are worshiping. It is very similar to Isaiah 6. I must say that this is an awsome picture of God being worshiped.

  57. Jenae Naee (= says:

I dont know if this verse has already been said but……….

Hebrews 12:28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken,
let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,

    great verse.

  58. hunter says:

Wow, great comments everyone! It is such a blessing to see the Lord praised and glorified through your comments!

Philippians 3:2-3 “Beware of dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false cirumcision; for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh,”

It is so good to know that we are not saved by works, but that we are saved by grace. Today, during a sermon at my school (I go to private Christian school), a girl became a Christian! She was the only one in the entire high school that recognized that she needed Jesus. The teacher who was preaching called her to the front so that he could pray with her for the forgiveness of her sin; this required her to get up infront of all her peers and acknowledge her need for forgiveness and acknowledge her belief in Jesus Christ as God. Everyone saw her and it was the coolest thing ever because she did not care what other people thought, all she cared about was getting right with God and what He thought about her. Are we this bold for the cause of Christ? Are we willing to get infornt of everyone we know in order to please and obey God? It was not with any confidence in herself that she was saved, but it was through faith in God that she recieved eternal life. He deserves to be worshiped!!!

  59. it's Daniel's momma Yo! says:

    Psalm 27:4
One thing I ask of the LORD,
    this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.

    Psalm 84:2
2 My soul yearns, even faints,
    for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh cry out
    for the living God.

I love that we actually sing scripture in many of our worship songs. When I am singing worship songs I am praising God, acknowledging His sovereignty, and longing to be in Heaven….

  60. Zach Senger says:

This chapter just amazed me in the detail that the people were to build with. This just shows us an example of how God sees things and how much detail He expects us to have. We should look at our lives and examine them and see what we can improve on!!!!!

  61. Shelby CST :) says:

3 Then make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.

This chapter really shows how the Lord takes the details of the tabernacle seriously. It is cool to see what is important to our Lord.

    CST!

  62. Psalm 96:9 “Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.” We must worship God in all that He is and He is awesome in holiness. This attribute of God causes me to fear Him and avoid sin, because I know He is perfectly pure and worthy of all worship.

  63. Dan Blankenship says:

John 9:31 We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him.

This is a very powerful and blunt verse. If we live lives that are accompanied by patterned sin then worship is impossible. If we continue a life of sin than we don’t really have a relationship with Christ. An authentic follower of Christ is overcoming the sin in his or her life and becoming sanctified. In this verse it is clear that if we are in sin than we are probably not even a Christian. God does not listen to sinners.

2 Cor 13:5 Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?

James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

  64. John Dogg says:

2 “Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from each man whose heart prompts him to give.

How much are we willing to give God. Are we cheerful givers? do we freely give with all of our heart, mind strenth and with all of souls with our actions and our thoughts? Do we give God the best we have to offer or do we give scraps all day long?

    1 Timothy 2:1-3
I urge, then, first of all that requests, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving be made for everyone- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour.

  65. Wesley Wong says:

God does not like proud people. When you come to worship him, you have to humble yourself.
James 4:6: But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
    “God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble.

Secondly, you have to worship God in spirit and in truth as it says in John 23-4.
23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

  66. Wesley Wong says:

    *John 4:23-4

  67. kelly causky CST says:

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spirituala act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
    —–Romans 12:1-2

Worship today should be shown through our righteousness. By living Godly in this world, we are worshipping the Lord.
