Christ’s Sacrifice Once for All
10:1 For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins? 3 But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
5 Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said,
“Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired,
but a body have you prepared for me;
6 in burnt offerings and sin offerings
you have taken no pleasure.
7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God,
as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’”
8 When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), 9 then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. 10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.
15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,
16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them
after those days, declares the Lord:
I will put my laws on their hearts,
and write them on their minds,”
17 then he adds,
“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”
18 Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.
The Full Assurance of Faith
19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. 29 How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.” 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
32 But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, 33 sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. 34 For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. 35 Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. 37 For,
“Yet a little while,
and the coming one will come and will not delay;
38 but my righteous one shall live by faith,
and if he shrinks back,
my soul has no pleasure in him.”
39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls. (ESV)

Heb 10:7 Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll— I have come to do your will, O God.’ ”
A role model for those who have repented and trust fully in Him!
The consequences of the opposite attitude are clearly marked out in this verse: Heb 10:26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.
Remember the best part: He saved us because of who He is and not our own record – so don’t miss out by fooling yourself about being a ‘Christian’ – the stakes are too high!
14because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
Jesus is that one who was sacrifice for our sins so we make talk to God and be able to go to Heaven. God help me to obey my parents.
Hebrews 10:22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
Comment: No matter what draw near to God with a sincere heart. Pour out your troubles and your blessings to the Lord. Don’t let the daily disappointments keep you from the Lord. Run to him, not away from him.
Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
Comment: This means that no matter what happens or how you feel you will at all cost hold to your hope in Christ. Remember who is your maker and who is in control of your life. If you profess to be a Christian than your actions will not be based on how you are feeling at the moment. It is your faithuflness to the Lord that will direct your path and keep you on that path without swerving to the left or right.
Hebrews 10:36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
Comment: Life can be hard so remember that is in your weakness that you are strong because you are allowing Christ to do the work rather than yourself. Keep on running the race and perservere to the very end.
I love verses 22-25! They are five exhortations of how Christians are to live now that we have salvation through the perfect sacrifice of Christ. It was tough for me to choose just one verse to comment on, but verse 24 stood out to me:
24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
This is a verse I try to live out daily! In my ministry at True North I am called to help the girls to grow in their faith and to obey God’s Word. Verse 24 says that we must “consider” how we can spur each other on toward love and good deeds. To “consider” means to spend time thinking about how I can actively spur on the girls I know. Maybe it is through a text message telling them I am praying for them, or meeting for coffee to give them Biblical counsel over a problem they are facing. Other times it is just sending them a card in the mail that includes a Bible verse that will encourage them to be holy and live a life that is pleasing to God. I find Heb. 10:24 to be a life verse for me that guides me to care about my Christian sisters’ faith and not just my own. Have you considered how you can spur on your Christian friends? Take time today to spur someone on toward love and good deeds!
I like Hebrews 10:10, “And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all.”
(T) Jesus came to clean the sin of the world, He was the last sacrifice ever had to be made because His blood has the power to wash away sin.
(A) Animals were not enough to wash sin away, there had to be a perfect sacrifice. Jesus accepted the sacrifice and took on suffering that no one could bear so that sinful, dirty humans could have a relationship with Him.
(N) Jesus was the final sacrifice, He died for everyone so that we might have a relationship with Him.
24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
I think these verses are both very important. Our walk with the Lord is not only working on yourself but it is also helping one another and encouraging one another. Accountability is so important because if I didn’t have accountability my sins deep within would not come out and I would be deceiving others. Accountability is so important cause you have somebody that you can be open and honest with and you can also be there for them and learn from them. So I think that verse 25 is so important because it is saying do not give up meeting with others but let us encourage one another.
26If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,
27but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.
These are two of the scariest verses in all of the Bible! It’s talking about people who go to church, people who have listened to the truth, but they keep on sinning. They don’t repent. Their life doesn’t change. All these poeple have to look forward to is hell, and they know it!
I remember at Revival 08 I was running one of the small groups. And I brought up these verses. I told the guys in the group that if they bailed on Christianity this would be them. I particularly remember one student who was really thinking this over. It was Austin Wilemon. In fact, that was the day of his salvation as he did call out to God for salvation. And now his life is headed in the opposite direction: towards the Lord! Praise the Lord for how he saves and let’s pray that more of our friends from True North will get saved this summer at Revival 09!
See you at True North this weekend for an important sermon!
31It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
We should always have a good healthy fear of God. I do not want to fall into the hands of a living angry God. My sin angers God. He has provided a way to be reconciled to Him but I have to repent of my sins and put my faith in Christ. It saddens me when I hear of non-Christians that die because I know that they have fallen into the hands of a living God. We need to be afraid of God in regards to our own sin, and in the process of sanctification sin less and less. But we also need to be afraid of God for others. Our fear of God should make us radical evangelists! We should be speaking the gospel all the time because we don’t want other people to go to hell.
31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
This verse definitely does not give us a picture of the God most people want to believe in, but like Pastor Bobby showed at beach night, this is the God that exists. The verse before shows that God will avenge men for every sin, but also that He will be the Judge of His children who do wrong. And for those who claim to follow Him and yet live in sin it will be much worse. Like Meisha said, the fear of God and His judgement of sin should be a huge motivation for us to be evangelizing!
17Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
This is such an amazing promise! No matter what we have done, once we repent, God no longer remembers them. All He sees is the perfect blood of Jesus Christ.
24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
It is so important that we have godly friends who spur us on and encourage us to grow closer to God. We need to be encouraging each other every day.
24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
I remember when Pastor Bobby talked about spuring one anothing on and what exactly spur meant. It was the thing you kicked the horse with to get him to go! Thats what we need to be doing to others (not literally) and what others need to be doing to us. We need that extra boost every once in awhile!
26If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,
27but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.
This is probably one of the worst things a person could do. If someone claims to be christian and then keeps living the life they were before, contained with sin. This person should fear God’s wrath because they are definatly not a christian. And we need to check with our selves and make sure we arent this person.
10And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
14because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
19Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,
Because of what Jesus has done for us, and our trust in it, we can confidently approach God. While most people “hope” they are right with God when the Day of Judgement comes, Christians are 100% sure. This is because we are trusting in Jesus (perfect life and sacrificial death) to make us right before God and not our works. See if you think God grades on a sliding scale or a curve then you are hoping that your good deeds outweigh your bad deeds. But even a “good” person by the world’s standards is left with some doubt about what their fate when they die since they don’t know for sure where they stand with God. This leads people to answer the question “where will you go after you die, heaven or hell?”, with the unconfident response, “I hope heaven.” The Christian however knows that if he has genuinely turned from his sin and put his trust in Christ then he absolutely 100% is right with God and will be able to approach Him.
22 “let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Drawing near to God with a sincere heart, holding unswervingly to our hope, considering how we can spur each other on to love and good deeds, and encouraging one another. There’s not much more that could be said! This is easily one of my favorite chapters right now.
35 “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”
If we’re weary and losing heart, let us remember this verse. Because God tells us here that if we persevere, if we don’t give up or throw away our confidence, we will be *richly* rewarded! Let’s keep on going to do God’s will today!
One of the best chapters in the Bible, well at least in my opinion! This is great to see so many people lately hitting up SOTD!!! Keep it up!!!!!!
9Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second.
I love these verse, it’s (verse 9) talking about how Christ came down the sacrifice that would take away sin, unlike the bulls and goats that could not take sin away, verse 4 said it was impossible for them. I like Christ response, He is ready to do what His Father asks of Him (Here I am), that is His purpose (I have come to do your will)
24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
I remember Pastor Bobby preaching on this verse! We need to think of ways to spur each other in building them up in faith and encourage them toward love and devote themselves in doing what is good. Where we really need this most is with our accountability partner.
25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Summer is the perfect time to apply this verse!!! We have a lot of free time and are not busy as most people are! We need to encourage each other to the day of when Christ will come back or the day you die, so you can have that confidence of the promise of eternal life through the blood of Christ! So let’s meet together, please give me a call (949)885-6450!!!
30For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”
This is yet another promise in the Bible! Christ will avenge those who persecute you! The Lord will subject judgment on His people in righteousness! I know you feel like you want to get back at the person, but we need to trust Christ and not fall into sin!
23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
This is one of my all time favorite verses of the Bible! Kelly right on, I totally agree! We hold to the hope that we have NO MATTER WHAT our circumstances may be or how we may be feeling at the moment. God is faithful and will fulfill the things He has promised and therefore no matter what we always have that future hope to cling to. A true mark of a Christian is manifested in that hope and the fruits like peace and patience that it motivates. This hope should also be something that spurs us on to love and good deeds and sharing the Gospel!
NEW BLOG :)
what a great chapter!!
11Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
12But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.
A major theme from this chapter that hit me was repentance. It says here in verse 11 if we keep on making the same sacrifices (now it is basically repenting) over and over again, it won’t take away our sins. This goes great with verse 26 where if we keep on sinning, there will be no sacrifice left to take away our sins and we won’t be forgiven of those sins. Another verse to go with is verse 27 and verse 31:
27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.
…
31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Like Pastor Bobby mentioned in his comment, if we bail on Christianity, this will be us. We will be subjected to God’s wrath. Ben also talked about God’s wrath in one of his sermons (Grace up in your face pt. 2) where God is holding us in his hand above a fire and if we bail on him, he will look at us like we look at spiders and just want to drop us in the flames to watch us perish. That is fearful thing and we should be fearing God but we should also be rejoicing in the gift he is giving us of eternal life in heaven with Him.
36You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
The first part of it where it says “a sincere heart in full assurance of faith” really stuck out to me. Having full assurance of faith means that you have surrendered absolutely EVERYTHING to God and letting Him control your life. There isn’t one thing that your controlling. It is definitely a hard thing to do but once you have it is the best thing you could have done. I think this is a challenge and an encouragement to always be surrendering yourself to the Lord and letting Him call the shots.
:)
ELLO… I read
I like verse 17,”Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
I like this verse because it tells about GOD’s grace. We deserve HELL but GOD provided a way out of it so we can be with HIM for eternity. To be with HIM we must be perfect and since we can’t be perfect we need a perfect sacrifice which is JESUS who died and rose again so that when we repent all our sins die on the cross. This is the only way for us to live.
CYA
30 For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”
Wow. This verse is quite powerful. It also really helps when it comes to revenge and judging people. When we can get really angry at someone, sometimes we want revenge. But we all know revenge is never the right answer. Not only does God teach us not to take vengance on people, He tells us to forgive others too. The reason why we shouldn’t take vengance on others, is because God has all of the power in this universe, and the vengance should be left to Him. This also relates to judging. God knows all of your thoughts, and when we judge, it is obviously not always outloud. So, When you judge others, keep in mind that God knows your thoughts, and that God will judge all of mankind. In other words, just leave all of the judging and revenge to God. He knows what He’s doing!
32Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you stood your ground in a great contest in the face of suffering.
This verse is like what Pastor Bobby talked about at Beach Night. We need to have the fire for Jesus that we had when we were first saved. If we aren’t “hot” for Jesus, we are going to be rejected. Our hearts should always be on fire for Him!!!
36You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
this verse reminded me of the Athlete action pics sermon, where Pastor Bobby talked about running the Christian race for the prize. as Christians, we need to be running and persevering through trials, no matter the size. we need to rely on God throughout our entire lives all the time, and if we persevere He will reward us gracefully. God has promised us great things through His Son Christ, and we will receive them because God has promised us them. so lets give glory to God forever and ever!
The verse that spoke out to me was verse 5Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;
That means stop sacrificing animals because God has the biggst sacfrice to give to us. That is his dieng on the cross for our sins for ever.
19Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
If we have absolute faith in Jesus Christ, then we should not worry about anything. Being a son(or daughter) of Christ means that He will protect you through all hardships. God’s plan for us will be exactly what happens and it will be the best plan for us, better then any we could come up with. Being a christian is not all fun and games though, there will be persecution. We must put our faith in God, keep our heads held high, and continue to preach His word no matter what. Christ is sitting at the right hand of God working as a mediator for us. We are able to grow closer to God because of the sacrafice Christ did for us. Works alone will not give u salvation, but repetance and faith will. Works are a part of being a christian and they show what fruit you bear. Make sure the fruit you bear is good fruit, so that others will not be led atsray.
25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
We have to spend time with our good Christian friends. It’s really important. We all know bad company corrupts good character, so we have to be very careful about who we spend our time with. Which makes all the more reason to live out this verse! The more we are around other Christians, like at church, small groups, and even just hanging out, we can encourage one another and keep eachother on track. We should be there to help and encourage our fellow brothers and sisters! Choose who you spend your time with wisely! And definately do NOT stop meeting with fellow Christians!
17Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
How amazing is God’s love that the transgressions we commited against him are forever forgotten? Even when we are enemies of God he still sent his begotten Son to Die for us. That is Awesome!!!
Now I want to continue to love others because I was shown the ultimate undeserving love. We should all have a fervent desire to continually show love to others because we were first loved.
God’s love is great! Revival 09 soon!
16″This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”
17Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
It is so encouraging to know that as a Christian, saved by grace through faith in the new covenant of Christ, that God promised to put His laws in our hearts and write them on our minds. We can have faith that God will continue to reveal His word to us through the Holy Spirit and that He will remind us of His commands. This is great because His word keeps us from sin and reminds us of His good, pleasing, and perfectwill! Even better than that though is His promise to forget our sins once we repent and put our faith in Him! Our God truely gives good gifts!
36You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
As Cameron already said, this verse also reminds me of the action pics sermons that Bobby preached. Throughout our lives we are going to face trials of many kinds. We can not let these trials get in our way or let them take hold of us. We need to hold on to the promise that the Lord has given us and use that hope to maybe even to get us through our problems or troubles
24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
i think this is a good verse, we should always be reminding our brothers and sisters in christ to be reading their bible everyday, praying, and evangelizing. We should be spuring them on and not be letting them fall into sin. I have noticed myself it helps alot to have somebody telling me everyday to get into the word, it really encourages me. We should all be acountable toward eachother.
38But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.”
We cant shrink back. It is so important that we live our lives to the fullest for God every day all the time. I want God to be please with me and in this verse he is telling us what we can do. We cant back down when it comes to our faith.
Amen!!!!!!!That God has saved me and as a Christians I know that nothing can take that away. This was a great chapter!!!
38But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.”
This verse stood out to me the most because it helps me to know that if I shrink back and don’t do something I am suppose to do God will not be pleased with me.
Only about 8 more days until Revival!!!! YAY!!!
25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Yesss, I love this verse! It is such an encouragement to me! Encouraging one another is so important, and it says we need to be doing it DAILY! As Christian brothers and sisters in Christ, it is important to be building one another up and spurring them on! If someone is caught in sin, it is a responsibility to go help them and talk to them. I know that reaching out to others more is definitely something I need to be doing DAILY, and more of! Not only is it a command, but motivation from good friends always makes me happy and makes me know that I am cared for!
24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Great comment, Brooke. I’m with you on this one. As the body of Christ, we are here to spur one another on like it says in verse 24, and encourage each other always. It’s so easy to get distracted and caught up with our own lives, but let’s prioritize our time and use it wisely, investing in other people and helping build each other up in our walks with the Lord.
Hebrews 10:17 Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
This verse explains that once we repent and turn from our sins, we are saved and made perfect in God’s eyes. Now, Isaiah 64:6 says, “All our righteous acts are like filthy rags”, so how can we be good enough for God? We can’t . . . but that’s where Jesus came in. Jesus came to Earth and lived the perfect life and died as the perfect sacrifice; it is through Jesus that we are forgiven and good enough. Thank the Lord for his righteous love!
36You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
Even though times may be difficult for financial or emotional reasons, we must persevere and seek the will of God in our lives. Its exciting to think of the rewards He has promised, however I think we should do this simply out of love, fear, and reverence for the Lord God Almighty.
10And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Thank you Jesus for being the sacrifice for us and letting us be able to have the chance to go to heaven.
39But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved.
When we believe and repent, we are able to be saved and recieve the kingdom of heaven(because of Jesus). BUT we need to remember that we need to be on FIRE for JESUS and not lukwarm. BE ON FIRE AND SET OFF THOSE SPIRITUAL SMOKE DETECTERS!!! :D (think i spelt that wrong) :]
9 DAYS TILL REVIVAL!!! SO PUMPED!!! CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR THE MESSAGES PASTOR MIKE WILL BE PREACHING ABOUT DANIEL!!!
10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
We cannot be made Holy through anything we have or can do. Humans are innately evil and evil beings do evil things and God can have nothing to do with evil. But through Christ making us clean, our actions can mean something. Without Christ, we are nothing. REVIVAL IS COMING!!!!
Hey everybody, this chapter was great!
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”
As Christians we face a lot of hard things. We will be made fun of for standing ferm in our faith in God. But in the end, it will not all go to waste. If we continue to stand up for the LORD and what we believe in, we will be rewarded. This is such an encouraging verse because it states clearly that we have more to look forward to in the end. God made a promise and he will keep it. We can really commit to the LORD and really live for him because we know that even though we are persecuted, we will be rewarded for our faith in the end. I love this verse.
I can’t wait until Sunday!
10And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Thank you God that you gave us Jesus!!! He see us as holy now because of Jesus. That is the BEST gift that we could ever receive.
25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Continuously meeting with other Christians is SO good for us. We need that encouragement to keep going and stand firm. It also helps with evangelism.
31It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Great comments Meisha Meisha and Mike!! This verse reminded me of Jonathan Edwards revival sermon wayyyyy back in the day!! REPENT or there will be punishment!! It also reminded me of God’s power and just acts. He cannot be thought be thought of as just a loving grandfather, but he needs all the respect as the ultimate authority and judge. The fear of the Lord should be what makes us run away from the sin that leads to his punishment. Beware of God’s hatred of sin and run away from it my friends!! :D
1The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.
2If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins.
The law could never truly wipe away the sins of the Jews, it was incomplete. It was a temporary arrangement that was only meant to last until the coming of CHRIST. It makes me wonder, why are there still Jews today? They knew the law was incomplete, and then came the completion, but they rejected it. How sad.
17Then he adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”
This is saying that God will forgive and forget all you sins.
REVIVAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! is almost here!!!!!!!!!!
Jesus sacrificed himself for all our sins. We should never forget this and give the Lord our hearts.
Cant wait for Revival.
1 The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship
The law only shows us our sins. Bummer, huh? Actually, no, it isn’t. Without the law we wouldn’t know what exactly was right and wrong (besides our consciences) so therefore we wouldn’t really know how exactly we were, or are sinning. When reading the Bible I have personally figured out a sin I was doing that I never knew about. Now even though the law is kind of depressing at times, God is soooooo loving, he came down to save us. Very confusing but very, very, very awesome. So next time you see the law, look at it as loving.
Wow what an awesome chapter!!!
It is a great thing to know that we do not have to face God’s wrath, (v.31) but instead, we are made holy through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross (v.10). Praise God once again!!
heeeeey guuuuuysss :)
25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
It is soooo important that our closest friends, and the people that surround us are godly people. We need this in our lives so that we can have people encouraging us to live for Christ, and be Christ-like in everything we do. It is very important for Christians to have fellowship with one another. Christ is coming back soon, and that means we all have to start living for him more diligently and putting EVERY breath we have into living for Christ!! I thank God for giving all of us Compass Bible Church, and especially True North because it is an awesome way for us to fellowship with other Christian teens and to learn about God and what he wants us to do here on earth!!!
Revival 09 is COOOOOMIIIIING!!! ahhh!
♥always- mady
This is such a powerful chapter!!!
This chapter just spells it out so plain and simple. . . we can escape God’s wrath simply through faith. It’s so easy and yet so many ignore it and their punishment is described in verses 28-30 and 38. But we don’t need to worry about that because we have faith in our living God and we obey. And God rewards His servants(v.38-39):D
4 because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sin
Jesus is the only one who can take away sin for those who have repented and put their faith and trust in His sacrifice. we need to be sooo thankfull for the sacrifice of Jesus dieing on the cross. we need to constently remind ourselves that nothing we do and no sacrifices we make will take away sin. the only sacrifice to do this is Jesus on the cross. it was sooo painful for Jesus when He was up on the cross, not only because of the nails in His hands but also because of the sins He was bearing for us. we can never take for granted what Jesus did. i need to constently remind myself of Jesus’ sacrifice and thank God for His son. it is sooooo amazing what God did with that cross!
REVIVAL 09 is comming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The full significance of Jesus’ sacrifice can be seen in these verses.
it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins
6with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased
“Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them” (although the law required them to be made)
11Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins
These verses show how hugely our sin separates us from God. Then comes Jesus’ huge sacrifice:
10And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
It is truly amazing that after all those years of trying and failure, Jesus paid it all “once for all”
okay this chapter just has to many awsome verses i got to post again
26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,
this verse is one of my favorite verses. it explains the change that MUST happen when we repent. we must turn (180 degrees) from our sinns towrards God. we need to strive to live for Him and strive to stay away from sinn. we will not deliberatly continue in our sinful ways after we have received the knowledge of truth. this does not mean we will be perfect because we willl mess up and sin, but it does mean we willl NOT be sinning on purpose.
MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! There are a lot of good and meaningful points in this chapter but one verse stood out particularly,
25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Encouraging each other is extremely important. I know that it is much easier to stay on top of your bible reading and stay closer to God if you have an acountabiliy partner (Cameron :)). Without encouragement, it is so easy to slip away from God and get caught into the worldly passions that we are engulfed in everyday. Encouragement is key to keeping up a strong relationship with God.
23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
One of the marks of a true Christians is that he/she stays faithful to the hope that we have received. The awesome truth about this verse is the one who we place our hope in is absolutely faithful! This is the reason that believers can remain hopeful- because he is faithful. He will always keep is promises! We can always rest in his faithfulness even when his timing is different than our timing because he will do exactly what he said he will do!
hey everyone!!
22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.23Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. —Wednesday was a reality check for me and that I need to really be focusing on my faith in Jesus and really check my heart! Since I am sure I am a Christian I really need to start having that same mind-set I had when I became a Christian! Please pray for me that I can really stay focused this summer on growing closer with God!
25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. —-I am soo thankful that I have these Christian friends that will encourage me and are there to keep me accountable! Especially going into highschool! Now that I have started True North, I feel soo welcomed and that I have made a lot more friends that will be there to encourage me daily to grow spiritually! I am definitely going to be working on being the friend that others want to come to for encouragement! :)
ahhh cant wait for REVIVAL 09!! 8 DAYS!!
also stoked for church tomorrow!!
I read…
I liked verse 24… “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” Having good friends that can encourage us is an essential part to Christianity. This helps because when the enemy attacks, there will always be others to help you and to spur you on. If you do not already have friends that can encourage you to lead the life that God wants you to lead, you need to find some.
16″This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”
We need to know the Lord’s laws but most importantly obey them. We have Bible’s now days that we can read openly whenerver we want and we need to use them to find out how God is telling us how to live. Also, when we hear the Law He has given us to constantly remind ourselves of it to help us beat temptations.
14because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
Jesus Christ was the ultimate sacrifice for all of mankind!! He was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins!! By making himself be the sacrifice of all sacrifices we no longer need to offer animals or burnt offerings to God anymore because Christ paid for the sins of the entire world!!! Thank you Jesus Christ for loving us so much to die in our place for the sins we have commited!!
MARANATHA!!!!
25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
i like this verse because we need to be having fellowship with other christianss so that we can grow in our walk with christ. we need to not give up on meeting and talking about our savior.we need to encourage others to be reading there bibles to learn more about Him, pray to get closer to Him, and have fellowship.
29How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
30For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”
31It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
These are scary and intense verses. They make me pray for those who go to True North and will come to Revival 09 and hear the truth but walk away from it. They are in a “dreadful” place!
These verses also help me think more seriously about my own sin.
Can’t wait to see everyone at True North this weekend!
31It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
ok this verse hit me hard cuz of how powerful it is… dreadful….the NASB translation says terrifying…two very powerful words. The words themselves can strike fear into our hearts, how much more God. We fear a God who loves us, a God who has given us salvation…how much terrifying is he to those who he has not saved….
24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Mmmmm what an awesome chapter!!! What is commanded in these two verses is so important! First it says we need to be considering how to spur one another on toward love and good deeds. That is so important that we are holding each other accountable and making sure each other is tracking! If we say we love someone then we will care about they spiritual walk with God and ask them about it and how they are doing. Then, in verse 25, it says to not give up meeting together! That is also so important! If we arent fellowshipping together as christians and keeping each other accountable, then people end up not doing well at all as I have seen happen.
25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
This verse is very clear, and it stands out. We meet together once a week or more. It is important to get the “daily dosage” of fellowship with other Christian people. It includes encouraging each other, which is very important. Encouragement is something that does not get passed around enough. So I encourage you, to encourage others!
25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Meeting together, fellowship, accountability, encouragement, all of these things are so important to us as Christians, and are things that we are called to do! We need to keep it up over summer, encourage each other daily, and keeping each other accountable. That is one thing i love about compass, it gives us so many opportunities to fellowship! Keep your eyes and hearts focused on the Lord.
24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
mmmm… this is just one of those verses that you need to know. This is why we do accountability at our church. It’s so important and i’m glad i have someone to help me grow
24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds
mmmm… this is just one of those verses that you need to consider as summer vacation is starting. What are you going to do this summer to encourage your Brothers and Sisters in Christ. What practical way can you improve in this area? What practical ways can I improve? These are questions worth pondering.
Can’t wait for Revival 09!
4because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
THis is a great reminder that we can only be saved by the blood of Jesus Christ! Who led a perfect life so that we could be saved by his perfect and Holy blood!!!
24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.
25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Spur on one another is very important. We are al in this together and if we fall our Christian family will pick us up. This summer encourage your brother and sisters to stay in the Word everyday and share the gospel.
