The Earthly Holy Place
9:1 Now even the first covenant had regulations for worship and an earthly place of holiness. 2 For a tent was prepared, the first section, in which were the lampstand and the table and the bread of the Presence. It is called the Holy Place. 3 Behind the second curtain was a second section called the Most Holy Place, 4 having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was a golden urn holding the manna, and Aaron’s staff that budded, and the tablets of the covenant. 5 Above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.
6 These preparations having thus been made, the priests go regularly into the first section, performing their ritual duties, 7 but into the second only the high priest goes, and he but once a year, and not without taking blood, which he offers for himself and for the unintentional sins of the people. 8 By this the Holy Spirit indicates that the way into the holy places is not yet opened as long as the first section is still standing 9 (which is symbolic for the present age). According to this arrangement, gifts and sacrifices are offered that cannot perfect the conscience of the worshiper, 10 but deal only with food and drink and various washings, regulations for the body imposed until the time of reformation.
Redemption Through the Blood of Christ
11 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) 12 he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
15 Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant. 16 For where a will is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established. 17 For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive. 18 Therefore not even the first covenant was inaugurated without blood. 19 For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, 20 saying, “This is the blood of the covenant that God commanded for you.” 21 And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tent and all the vessels used in worship. 22 Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
23 Thus it was necessary for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these rites, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. 25 Nor was it to offer himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the holy places every year with blood not his own, 26 for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, 28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. (ESV)

Heb 9:14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
So that we may serve in joy and sometimes suffering because of His sacrifice! I am grateful for His cleansing – now He’s made me ready to serve! What do you want me to do today? Oh ya! it’s written right here in your word! Better take my time with you today!
12He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.
Acording to the first covenant here on earth, only the sacrafice of an animal was necesary for the temporary and symbolic cleansing of sin. But according to the second covenant in the tabernacle of heaven the law required a perefect human being that lived life without any sin. Only our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, could fulfill this, no one else. What really amazes me is that He even did this for us, that He would love us sinners us much to become a human is mind blowing. Our God truely is love!
25Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own.
26Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.
With the old covenant, the high priests had to make sacrifices over and over again for the sins of the people as well as their own sins. However, Jesus Christ does not have to sacrifice himself over and over again. He came down to earth as a sacrifice to die on the cross one time. His sacrifice is eternal, for it is through that eternal sacrifice that people have had salvation in the past, that others have salvation now, and through that that other people will have salvation in the future. This is so cool that Jesus didn’t have to die over and over again, dying one time for each person. His one sacrifice is enough and covers over all who have repented of their sins and put their faith in Christ.
22In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
Blood is a big theme in this chapter. The payment for sin has always cost someone or something blood. A logical connection that we should make from this is that God takes sin very seriously, and so should we. While it is perhaps easy to see the sin of others and be disgusted by it, God wants us to recognize our own sin and be disgusted with it. Let’s not fool ourselves into thinking that God just overlooks our sin and doesn’t care if we blow it today. He cares and it cost blood to pay for it. Thus let’s repent and turn away from the things that God hates and turn to Him and do the things that we know that he has commanded us to do.
27Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
These two verses stood out to me in a chapter rich with the explanation of why Jesus is the perfect sacrifice for our sins. In verse 27 it is clearly stated that every man will die and face judgement. Since this is a Biblical fact we must be sure that we are prepared to face God’s judgement. The beauty of being a Christian is that all our sins are atoned for by Christ’s blood and perfect sacrifice. We will pass right through the first judgement and only be judged for what we did with our lives once we became Christians. We have no fear of eternal punishment or separation from God thanks to Jesus’ perfect sacrifice! Verse 28 is awesome coming on the heels of verse 27 because it explains that Christ’s death has brought those who believe salvation instead of judgement. I am taking time this morning to praise God for cancelling my future in hell and securing my eternity in heaven by His perfect sacrifice!
14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
The blood of Christ makes me totally clean! This verse also tells me why I have been made clean. I am made clean so that I may serve God! God is glorified when I obey his commands. It is proof that I have been made clean when I obey. Today I will strive to obey God more fully than I did yesterday and know that it is only through His grace that I am saved and only through His power that I even have the capability to obey.
Just to start off: beach night was super fun! I can never learn about Jesus’ attributes enough, thank you pastor Bobby!
27Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
The ending to a chapter always seems to be really powerful! These verses are kind of a little, “gospel in a nutshell.” Verse 27 states very plainly that all men are to die and be judged. There are no “but”s or “except”s. It is final. But, as Christians, we WILL die(to the flesh/world) and be judged(decision:hell or heaven) but we will live eternally and go to heaven with Jesus Christ if we truely repented and had faith on earth! That is what verse 28 says.
ELLO… I read
I like verse 28,”So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”
I like this verse because it tells how JESUS died for us. HE died once because HE was perfect and HE rose again. No one else could have done this neither could the animals which were slaughtered. The animals were just killed time after time and they didn’t have any eternal values they didn’t save you CHRIST does and HE is the only one who can. I am amazed that GOD did this for us when we rebel and lie and sin which is the only thing he commands us not to do… Well we have to do things for HIM too.
CYA
I liked verse 27! There are so many people out there that don’t beleive in judgement or anything after death – but this verse totally proves that we will all face this judgement after we die! But that’s not the main thing… What is really important is if the Lord will deny you or welcome you into His Kingdom
2A tabernacle was set up. In its first room were the lampstand, the table and the consecrated bread; this was called the Holy Place.
3Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place,
we do not need this any more because Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Now we just pray to Jesus/God diractle to Him. God help all of us to be on fire for God and to get into the word more. Amen
12He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. in the old testimant the people would have to sacrifice goats and other animals so that there sins would be forgiven. then jesus came and died and the perfect sacrifice. now there is no need to sacrifice animals for our sins, jesus is the eternal sacrifice. we need to realize this and know all that he went through so that we might be able to live forever with christ. we need to because of this knolage serve him with all our heart soul and mind. we canot be luke worm. we need to be on fire for christ. i need to work on doing everything to the best of my ability to serve and glorify christ allong with searching for an opritunity to share christ with other people this summer instead of being lazy.
that was so much fun last night!!! i cant wait for the next beach night!!!
28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
This chapter gives us a good chance to reflect on the sacrificial system, and on the necessity of Christ to come as the perfect lamb for us. But like Pastor Bobby preached last night, this submissive, dying Jesus is not the one we will meet one day upon His return! As we look forward to that day and pray Maranatha, we need to be praising Christ for His power and glory, and remembering Who He truly is.
12He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.
wow…. thats really deep. to think about that in that time must have been shocking. it went against all thy knew. But that is really coool how it all went down. praise God for Jesus’ Blood
9This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper.
Back during the second covenant, people would have to sacrifice animals for their blood to clear off that persons sin. As Dan L. said, blood is a big theme in this chapter because we need to shed blood for our sin. But it still wouldn’t completely clear all our sins, it was only temporary. Now that we have second covenant and Christ has come and paid all our sins with his blood, we don’t have to make sacrifices anymore because, since our sins were already paid for, we can pray to God for forgiveness instead of sacrificing a goat in driveway. We have such a great and loving God to do this (John 3:16) and for this reason we should be repenting of our sin, for eternal salvation, and always be worshiping and praising our God.
28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
I can not wait for this day. MARANATHA!! Come, O Lord!
Too bad I didn’t make the Beach Night last night. It sounded like it was alot of fun. Oh well. =(
I read . . .
Hebrews 9 . . .
“22. In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”
Both of these verses really stood out to me. The first verse is saying, if someone sacrificed themself, like Jesus, and shed their blood, then they are forgiving us. Think of how cool that is, Jesus died on the cross not just for me and my sister, but for EVERYBODY out there. Including murderers and ect. Jesus forgave every single living human on this earth, and how dare us if we just throw it away by continuing a sinful life. We are to turn and repent and put our faith in God.
“28. so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”
The second verse I think says, when Judgment Day comes, Jesus will be coming to bring salvation. Rather than coming, like He did the first time, and bearing sinful humans . . . SINNING.
Think of our time here on Earth as a “chance.” A chance to show God and Jesus what we’re made of and how we can live it our for Him. Because in the end when He does come back, He’ll reward us with a treasured spot in Heaven. That’s just MARVELOUS.

27 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
These two verses say it clearly and powerfully! I have never noticed, until now, that there was a connection between the amount of our physical death (1) and the amount of Jesus’ physical death (1). Christ was a sacrificial implement to tell the people that sacrifices were no longer needed because He was the one and only eternal sacrifice for our sins. These verses clearly state that Christ WILL come again! And he will come to save true believers and bring them to their Heavenly Home!
9This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper.
some people think that the way to heaven or they way to eternal salvation is through the goods deeds they do. the truth is, that those actions are not good enough. the only way to salvation is admitting your a sinner and making a complete turn around form the life that you were living.
7But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.
We are so blessed that we can go to God whenever we want. In these old Bible times, the people had to go to God through a priest, once a year. And they had to have a sacrifice. Today, Jesus’ perfect life and death on the cross has made it possible for us to go directly to God, without the need of an animal sacrifice. He has already paid the price!
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
This is one of the best verses in the Bible! It explains the Gospel, sure it doesn’t talk directly about His resurrection but if you recognize it shows that Christ is alive when it says that He will appear a second time! It shows that He lives! Not only does it talk about His resurrection, but about His second coming!
Christ didn’t come down many times, to take away our sins partially. Christ came down and was put on the cross to take away all of our sins at once. Christ will appear a second time, not to take away our sin again because He took away on the cross, Christ said it is “finished!” So what is Christ is going to do, He’s going to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him! Who say marantha!!! Those who put their trust in Christ and repent of their sin!
This is a great chapter. The writer of Hebrews makes it inescapably clear that we are now living in the new order. No longer do we need a priest to sacrifice goats and sheep on an altar; we have Jesus Chrsit. He sacrificed *Himself* once and for all! He has provided for us a way to have a cleared conscience, having no more guilt; we are free from enslavement to sin and eventually the punishment that goes with that. How awesome that is! The more I think about it the more I want to go all in–with my whole life–for Jesus. Let’s keep our focus on Him today!
7But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance
In the OT we read of how the high priest would be the only one allowed to have communion with God so to speak and actually had to go in once a year to make atonement for the sins of himself and all the people, what a contrast to today! We, through the redeeming power of Christ’s blood, have the ability to have communion with Him everyday because we have a great high priest in Christ who is interceding for us! What an amazing truth and what a blessing and privilege that is…it makes me realize how I so often take it for granted.
NEW BLOG :) just click on my name
18This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood.
Reading this chapter I was thinking about how the sacrifices for the old covenant were sheep and goats, but the sacrifice for the new covenant was God himself. That just proves how much Jesus did for us. Man was so horrible that a sheep could not save us anymore, so God offered himself.
7 But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.
How crazy would it be to have to do this in this day and age? It would be so weird to have to confess our sins to a priest in order to be forgiven instead of going straight to God himself. Thank God we have the ability to speak straight to Him.
26Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.
Christ had to suffer and go through so much for us. Even though we don’t have as much opportunity to evangelize since school is out, we should keep trying to find people/opportunitites to talk to other people about His ultimate sacrifice for us. And come to evangelism nights too :))) He took the place for our sins and instead of back then when they had to continually sacrifice using animals He came to die for us once and for all.
27Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
We do die and face judgement. When I do I want to hear the words good and faithful servant. I don’t want to be lukewarm at all and we should strive to be on fire for Jesus. I’ve been slacking off since summer so the beach night definately helped me to realize that I need to get on track and be passionate as I was when I became born again.
28,”So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.”
This verse is so awsome in many ways! First off it talks about how Jesus dies to take away our sins. A perfect and Holy jesus died for us. And he did not do this for nothing He did this so that we can have our sins forgiven!
And seconldy this verse is great because it not only talks about what happened in the past, but it talks about what is to come! It says he will come a second time, but this time not to bear and forgive sin but this time to bring salvation to us Christians that are waiting. MARANATHA!!!
14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
This is absolutely awesome. Here is proof of God: our conscience. We all have consciences that make us remember what we did; it’s horrible at the time but it shows that we just couldn’t evolve from mud. Our conscience also shows us what is bad which keeps us from doing really bad things(at least most of us). What is awesome though is that christ took the punishment for those sins and he clears our conscience. Amazing.
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
I am so excited that one Christ will come back one day to bring salvation to us who have repented of our sins. He could come at anytime and we need to live out our lives like Christ is coming back today. Even if He does not come back today he could come back at anytime, like a thief in the night.
14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
This Verse stuck out to me most out of all the other 28 because it is saying, To cleanse yourself of like any evil so you can serve God as a true Christian.
Thanks so much Pastor Bobby and Christa for your wonderful messages last night. It really opened my eyes to how i should be acting.
9 days!!!!!!!!!
14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
Jesus Christ truely was blameless, he had no sin in his life. He was perfect in everyway. Yet He was the one who took the sins of the world on His sholders, He was tortured and then crucified for people like you and me who are nowhere near perfect. Christ took our sins and sacraficed Himself so that we would not have to go through eternal torture in hell. He was the ultimate sacrafice and He didn’t do it for Himself, but for all of us. Next time you think your in a lot of pain, remember what your creator went through so that you could be with Him together in paradise for all eternity.
12He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.
24For Christ did not enter a man-made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence.
These verses really explain why Jesus is greater than Moses, or a priest. The person who would make a sacrifice was a human, and wasn’t God. meaning that he was a sinner, and not perfect. Jesus on the other hand, is the son of God, giving him waaaaay more power than Moses, a rabbi or priest. Not only did Jesus forgive our sins, he gives us eternal life with him, something that people can never do.
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Christ is coming back!!!! This verse is a reminder that Christ is coming back again, maybe today, and we need to be ready for His coming. We have to be on fire for God. We need to look at our lives and ask ourselves if we are ready for Jesus to come any minute, and if not, change our ways!
14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
in the OT, animal sacrifices were used to cleanse the people of their sin. this was done by the High Priest. what i think is sooooo awesome is how symbolic to this the death of Christ was. He was the Passover Lamb, slaughtered for the sins of the people. He also is our High Priest, who intercedes for us. and all of the work of Christ lets us serve God with clear consciences and give glory to Him, because He freed us from our sin! priase to Jesus Christ!
22In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
Reading this chapter made me even more grateful that we don’t have to do animal sacrifices anymore!! Jesus Christ came as our perfect sacrifice…shedding innocent blood for our salvation! As Cameron would say, praise to Jesus Christ!! :D
27Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Christ made one big sacrifice for all the people to cleanse us of our sins. Once we die we are to face judgment of all our sins. And we have no excuse for them. God knows every little thought that we have thought. I don’t know about you, but I am not really looking forward to judgement. But I would way rather be up there than when Christ comes for a reighn on the earth a second time and this time with fire. Maranatha!!
Hey SOTDers! If anyone from Beach Night last night was feeling like they have fallen from their First Love for Jesus Christ you might want to listen to this sermon I preached last year:
http://www.compasschurch.org/hs/sermons/first-love/audio
9This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper.
God used the entire (complicated) ritual of animal sacrifice to paint the picture of Christ’s future sacrifice. He had to show the Israelites the gravity of their sin- the fact that not even the blood of a thousand animals could ever be enough to “clear the conscience of the worshiper”. It was instead an illustration to them (and to us) of how desperately we need a savior, that is, Christ to die and be the living sacrifice and fully cover our sin. Praise God that he loves us enough to give us this living sacrifice!
Good Morning True North!!!
22And according to the Law one may almost say all things are cleansed with blood and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
This verse, and of course this chapter, reminded me of all the sacrifices people in Moses’ time had to make and how grateful we should be that we don’t have to. From Leviticus 1-7, Moses describes what sacrifices had to be made, when, where, and who had to make them. This was all in an effort to compensate for their sins, yet when Jesus died on the cross, shedding His own blood, He wiped away all need for animal sacrifice. He made the ultimate sacrifice to save us, sinful and disobedient creatures. We should be eternally grateful to Him. Praise to Jesus Christ!!!
Hey everyone! Verse 26 was great!
“Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.”
Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice and he died to save us. He died once for EVERYONE so that we could live eternaly with him in heaven. The animals that were sacrificed were just an example of what Jesus would go through for us. He was the final sacrifice to wipe us clean before the Lord and that would last forever. He “did away” with sin for all of us and the generations to come.
Beach Night was awesome!
26Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.
This verse has a pretty important part in it. Jesus came down to earth and sacrificed Himself as the atonement of the world. He did it once and for all, so never again does there need to be a sacrifice, He payed it in full. So what this means is that any person that says there needs to be more done to get into heaven or to have your sins forgiven is wrong. Catholics obviously have it wrong when they say you have to confess your sins to a priest. Works-based religions have it wrong when they say you need to do good things to secure a spot in heaven. It’s all done and paid for by Jesus’ death on the cross for us!
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
this is a really good verse, it says that jesus christ died so that our sins can be forgiven. this verse also talks about jesus will be coming back a second time to bring salvation to us!! that is awesome, for us christians this is some thing amazing to be looking forward to, and those who arent christians you should be convicted by this and repent so christ can welcome you into his kingdom!!
22In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
The forgiveness of our sins is now covered with the blood of Christ. I am just so thankful that we dont have to go get an animal every time we sin and kill it to cover for our sins!!
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
This coming to bring salvation is what i think Pastor Bobby was talking about lasst night. Jesus is going to come back and he is going to be so amazing and i cant wait for this!!
(when i read it we only had 35 but its AWESOME that we have more! haha)
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
um well this was totally a gospel me chapter! So awesome to know where are salvation comes from. Also cool to know that Christ is coming back a second time. Maranatha baby! We have our hope in something legitimate as opposed to something illegitimate….
I am sooo happy that we don’t have to sacrifice animals after we’ve sinned anymore. It would be a difficult thing for me to see. I know that is just a small thing that’s great about Jesus coming, but it’s great just the same.
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Now THIS is where the exciting part comes!! Christ only needed to come once because he was and is the only perfect sacrifice, so his perfect blood covered us all- thank God for that!! The great thing is that when we see Christ again, Christians will be taken up :D yay!!
20 He said, “This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you to keep.”
With the creation of the old covenant in the time of Moses came the law, which all (everyone on earth, especially the Israelites) were held accountable to keeping (hence the verse above).
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t this the primary reason we need to trust in Christ. Much effort on our part has been expended, trying to fulfill this commandment to be, what most call a “good” person (for no one will reject that doing good is far better than doing bad). We all wanted to follow God’s law (we tried it too). But the moment we realize, whole-heartedly pursuing God (no sin in that) is a mission impossible, is the moment we decide to “throw up the sponge” (give up trying to be “good”) and trust in the righteousness of Christ.
16In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it,
17because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living.
18This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood.
CHRIST died for our sins. It was the only way for us to truly be washed clean of our iniquities; CHRIST needed to die for us to be pure. CHRIST is the only way to salvation because he was the only possible perfect sacrifice.
Hey, everyone! Because I am a “freshie,” I don’t know what beach night is . . . WHAT IS IT?!?!? I WANNA GO!!!!!
Hebrews 9:13 “The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!”
In order to have just one sacrifice, we needed a human sacrifice who lived the PERFECT life. I am so thankful that Jesus was willing to do that for us! If we are sprinkled with the blood of a goat to sanctify ourselves, then if we are sprinkled with the blood of Christ, just imagine how much more saved we are! Thank Jesus for his AMAZING LOVE!!!
On fire for Christ,
♡Tara Eddo♡
Tara,
Beach Night is the way we do small groups in the summer…it’s next Wednesday at Salt Creek Beach from 5 to 9 PM…

22 In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
This verse is intense! it in the simplest form explains why God died for our sins because without him dying on the cross we would all be headed straight for what we deserve…Hell! But God is a merciful God and sent his ONLY son to die for our sins so that we can be saved and have a personal relationship with Him!!
28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Mmmm when he returns how amazing will this be! EVERY single person will bow to God the creator of everything there is! And for those of us who are waiting for him it will be the greatest most amazing day of our lives!
But for the people who are not waiting for him you better watch out the wrath of God is going to be upon you!!
I’m just love’n all the comments…and I just can’t help but think about the last two verses they really stood out to me. All I can think about is how Jesus is our one sacrifice, the only one that we’ll ever need….it must have been so different living in times where the priest would have to sacrifice animals for your sins…I know I’d feel like my sins were not allll forgiven since I’m verrry sinful….but now that Jesus Christ is the savior of the world, I have confidence that what He did for you and me, is what has washed allll of my sins away and has cleansed me from the inside, then out. :) Thank you Lord for salvation and I pray for Maranatha! :)
28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
This is a great verse. It talks about how God came to our sinful earth in order to save us from our sins. This verse also explains how God is coming a second time, and this time it is to take the Christians to heaven with him. We all need to be ready when that day comes and pray MARANATHA!!!!!!!
28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
This is an awesome verse to reflect on and think about! Jesus is so holy and perfect! Picturing Christ dying on the cross for our sins is a huge sacrifice, and we need to make sure we are living according to HIS Will and living for him daily. He is in control of all judgement, and determines who goes to heaven or hell. To me, this is a big motivation and encouragement to make sure I am obedient and glorifying God in EVERYTHING I do!
19When Moses had proclaimed every commandment of the law to all the people, he took the blood of calves, together with water, scarlet wool and branches of hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people.
20He said, “This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you to keep.”
21In the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and everything used in its ceremonies.
I really liked these two versus because they kinda represent in a way the blood that Jesus spread for us.
I also like how Paul is always explaining why they did thinks in the old testament, and relatiing them to now.
Taylin SO EXCITED TO SEE YOU ON HERE and I also agree with the animals, I would hate to have to kill an animal for the sins I have commited, I mean what did they do? But when I look at Jesus I feel sad but also REALLY loved. HE DID NOTHING WRONG and still payed the price.
Also, how scary but cool would it be to be the high priest and get to go in the MOST HOLY PLACE where God is! And oh ya, if you did something wrong and didn’t prepare your heart before you went in, you would die. That would be a downer. And you would be reminded about the fact that you may die because you had a chain around your ankle when you went in. SCARY. But then you would get to see your heavenly Father. HOW COOL :D
OH and Pastor Bobby I have a question :]
Last night when we discussed Revelations and what Jesus looks like now. How could John see Him and not die? Because Moses wasn’t allowed to see God, except for the back of His neck, or Moses would have died. Just wondering :]
***BE ON FIRE FOR JESUS!!!***
The verse that spoke out to me was verse 27Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
That means that we all will die at the end and face Judgement. We will all see what we keep secrete and it will be read out loud for every one to hear. But the Good thing is that Jesus die on the cross for our sins. He will come down a second time to take us all up to heaven. For who ever believes in him.
22In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
——————————————————————-
That for sins to be forgiven then some blood needs to spare. And the blood that was drained out of Jesus was the blood that saved us from dying on the cross and for forgiving our sins for that he took our spot on the cross.
14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
i like this verse becasue Christ offered himself unblemished to God so he could take our sins and forgive us form our sins that lead us to hell so that we could live eternal life with him in heaven. this verse makes me greatful that the Lord would die so that we could go to heaven and it makes me want to repent from my sins and work hard on the sins i have the most trouble with.
Hey Payton! Good question!
In Exodus that is God the Father who Moses cannot see…so this is different in that this is Jesus the Son who has been seen and will be seen in the New Jerusalem.
But his appearance was so powerful that John did fall at his feet as though dead!
14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
if people used to offer sacrifices then When jesus died how much more does his blood cover us. it is not even comparable
c u all soon
27Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Wow all men will face judgement like it says in verse 27! We need to be telling everyone we know and even don’t know about Christ’s return and the sacrifice He made for us!!! Let’s use this summer for God’s glory and to spread His name!!! MARANATHA!!!
I read…
I liked verses 27-28… “Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
In Christ’s first coming, He came to save the world from their sins through His death and resurrection. However, when He comes again, He will come to bring salvation to everyone who has received Him. I am praying that when this time comes, that all of us will be ready to meet Christ.
Pray that God would do BIG things through Revival 09
28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Maranatha! Guys- Jesus is coming back, and he is coming back soon! Let’s make sure we are spending each day wisely, prioritizing GOD before everything else. We need to bring him glory through everything that we do! Live as if today were your last day on earth, and lets praise Jesus for our salvation!
28so Christ was sacraficed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Love this chapter! Christ was in this world once and He will surely come back again to save those who have repented and put their faith in Him. Let’s be praying Maranatha!!!!!!!!!!!
3Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place
7But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year
…the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed
These verses become especially clear when contrasted with Matthew 27:51
“At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.”
This curtain was a symbolic barrier between people and God. Jesus became our high priest (v. 11) God was showing that the way into his presence had been bridged by Jesus. The gap between us and the Father can be crossed by Jesus. As Jesus put it, “No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
25Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own.
This verse is awesome because it shows the power of Christ. Unlike the priests back before Christ, Jesus only had to sacrifice himself once, and that covered up EVERYBODY’S sins forever. Thank you Christ for loving us enough to die so that we could live eternally with our faith in you!!!!
♥always- mady
12 He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.
Priests were notallowed to enter the Holy of Holies in the tabernacle until they sacrificed an animal. This verse is talking about how God does not need to sacrifice an animal to enter the Most Holy Place. He already died on the cross as the ultimate sacrifice. Im so thankful for his sacrifice! “By His blood we were healed!”
14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
What a great verse that really show how much God loves us. He sacrificed everything for us imperfect people, how amazing!
22In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
Because God is a just God there has to be a payment for our sin. God can not just look over our sin and love us anyway (As the popular belief of the emergent church think) No, when Jesus blood was pour out on the cross a transaction was made. Our sin for his life. All the sin I have committed and all the sin I will commit was put on him that day. When his blood was shed it showed he took the place for the punishment I so rightly deserved.
When I consider this I am speechless. There is nothing I can or can not do to earn Gods favor or escape the punishment of sin. Christ did it all on the Cross. And with out the Cross there would be no forgiveness. LORD, my words of thanks seems so trivial as I consider the magnitude of what it meant for Christ blood to be poured out on the cross in exchange for my sin and all those who are Christians. Help me always to preach the gospel to myself. Always remind me of the cross and what the truth of the cross means and may I never take it lightly again.
1 Peter 3:18
18For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,
Way to go freshman girls. So good to see many of you on SOTD keep it up!
wow this is a really great and powerful passage of scripture.
12He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood,
this verse really stuck out to me because it reminded me that when Christ offered Himself up for our sins. He did it with His own blood. He became a sacrifice to God as John said, he became “the lamb of God”. He paid the ultimate price for us, and for that i am soo soo thankful.
charliee2010
I love how Hebrews further explains Jesus’ sacrifice. It answers so many questions regarding the differences between the old and new convanents. There’s so much to study here! But what’s confusing at first is there for us to understand the gospel even better. :)
28.) so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Mmmm, yes, praise God!!! MARANATHA!!!
27Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
CAN I GET A MARANATHA!!!??? Even while we’re looking back at what our Great High Priest has done “once for all,” the author is looking forward to when Christ will appear “a second time.” I can’t wait for the day when Christ will return and bring salvation to those who are waiting for him!
senior guys
im lovin the how the 2010 thing is going.
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins…..how amazing is that!! I hear that every day!! When I really stop and think about it though, it really hits home in my heart and shows me how blessed I am to have someone who would actually do that for me and all the world!
Jesus Christ will also return a second time, the last time, to resurrect the Christians and enter into the New Jerusalem where we will be with Him for eternity!!!!
MARANATHA!!!!!!
this book has a ton of good stuff for evangelizing to jews with. I like to see how it explains how Christ filled all the requirements in the Law to save us of our sins. also, it seems impossible that Jesus fullfilling each of the requirements was simply a convenience. I guess you could use this to evangelize to anyone in that case.
14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
The blood of Christ cleansed us from all the acts that lead to death. According to Romans 6:23, the wages of my sin is death. However, the blood of Christ has paid the price for my sins and although I still deserve death, I have received grace! It important to continually remember this and reflect on the undeserved grace!
“Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe; Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.”
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
I cannot wait for this day. I seriously cannot wait fo this day. I know this is kindof a maranatha rant, but seriously…i WANT Jesus to come back.
27Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
And people think dying is just bad…what comes after it is really worse. We need to be preaying for open doors so we can tell people about this.
Hebrews 9
27 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
This past Wednesday at Beach Night we talked about how important it is to understand our own salvation. Our relationship with God is a matter of life or death. If our relationship with Christ is cold then we are spiritually dead in Christ. Someone who is lukewarm is not living the Christian life according to Christ’s commands. If we think that doing just the bare minimum is enough to get by as a Christian than we are deceived by Satan.
Rev. 3:16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
This is a very powerful and specific warning to Christians that God wants all of you not just the leftover scraps. We need to search our hearts and make sure that we understand repentance and faith and what it is to live as a servant for Christ. If we are faithful to the commands of God and live a life on fire for Christ and His Gospel we will receive the Master’s praise.
Matt 25:21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
REVIVAL 09 “PRAY”
24For Christ did not enter a man-made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence.
i like the last part of this verse how it talks about Christ being in heaven and appearing in front of God for us. it is awesome to think about how we have Christ on our side. i mean, y would u ever want anyone else? i am so glad we have Him. he is the reason that Gods wrath is being held from us. we have a defense lawyer that can never lose, and that is super comforting to me!
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Jesus Christ died for us how awesome is that. This is proof that Christ will come back and save us and bring us up with Him for eternity. We are waiting and I can’t wait. MARANATHA
