The Priestly Order of Melchizedek
7:1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, 2 and to him Abraham apportioned a tenth part of everything. He is first, by translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then he is also king of Salem, that is, king of peace. 3 He is without father or mother or genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but resembling the Son of God he continues a priest forever.
4 See how great this man was to whom Abraham the patriarch gave a tenth of the spoils! 5 And those descendants of Levi who receive the priestly office have a commandment in the law to take tithes from the people, that is, from their brothers, though these also are descended from Abraham. 6 But this man who does not have his descent from them received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises. 7 It is beyond dispute that the inferior is blessed by the superior. 8 In the one case tithes are received by mortal men, but in the other case, by one of whom it is testified that he lives. 9 One might even say that Levi himself, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, 10 for he was still in the loins of his ancestor when Melchizedek met him.
Jesus Compared to Melchizedek
11 Now if perfection had been attainable through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need would there have been for another priest to arise after the order of Melchizedek, rather than one named after the order of Aaron? 12 For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is necessarily a change in the law as well. 13 For the one of whom these things are spoken belonged to another tribe, from which no one has ever served at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, and in connection with that tribe Moses said nothing about priests.
15 This becomes even more evident when another priest arises in the likeness of Melchizedek, 16 who has become a priest, not on the basis of a legal requirement concerning bodily descent, but by the power of an indestructible life. 17 For it is witnessed of him,
“You are a priest forever,
after the order of Melchizedek.”
18 For on the one hand, a former commandment is set aside because of its weakness and uselessness 19 (for the law made nothing perfect); but on the other hand, a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.
20 And it was not without an oath. For those who formerly became priests were made such without an oath, 21 but this one was made a priest with an oath by the one who said to him:
“The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind,
‘You are a priest forever.’”
22 This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant.
23 The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, 24 but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. 25 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
26 For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. 27 He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself. 28 For the law appoints men in their weakness as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever. (ESV)

25.) Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
This is such a beautiful thing, no one needs to add to what Jesus did on the cross, His sacrifice alone is enough to save us! And the fact that He is constantly interceding on our behalf is awesome! Praise the Lord!!!
ELLO… I read
I like verse 27,”Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.”
I like this verse because it tells how JESUS was the one and only perfect sacrifice. HE didn’t have to offer sacrifice after sacrifice like the old priests had to do HE only had to live a perfect life which was only possible for HIM and to die and raise again for our sins. Since HE was perfect he was able to defeat all sins forever.
CYA
27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
Great verse! God doesnt need to add to his sacrifice he attoned for everything that we can never make up on our own when he offered himself on the cross! He is perfect and holy what a great God we have! Let us work harder to make our lives a slavery to rightousness and please the one and only God!!
24 but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.
This is only a taste of the eternity of Jesus Christ. He lives of forever in the past, present and future sitting at the right hand of God.
26Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
For us to stand in the presence of a holy God we not only need our sins forgiven, we need to be 100% righteous. Because you and I clearly fall miserably short of this standard we need someone who has lived a 100% righteous life to stand in our place. Thank you Jesus for being 100% holy, blameless, pure, and set apart from sin.
Heb 7:25-26 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
Jesus has completed the steps to offer salvation to all who repent and trust in Him! He is the only perfect sacrifice, the only permanent atonement for all sin once and for all. We can never earn that but we are the beneficiaries of it! Don’t let it go to waste – share it with someone and celebrate!
7And without doubt the lesser person is blessed by the greater.
there is no greater or lesser everyone in God’s eyes are equal in everything. God help me to be less judgmental about people.
I can not wait for beach night!
28For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.
In the Levitical priesthood the priests were weak because they were sinful. The priests were also mortal, which meant that they could not permanently provide atonement for Israel’s sins. The offerings they gave to God were animals, which could not provide a legit substitute for mankind because we are made in the image of God. Christ is the perfect priest because He is the eternal God, who lives forever and provided the perfect atonement for mankind’s sin through His perfect life and substitutionary death. When Christ died on the cross He could say, “It is finished!” (John 19:30) because He had paid in full our debt of sin. Let’s be grateful today that we are saved once and for all by the blood of Christ and not by having to repeatedly sacrifice animals.
26 Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
This is an awesome description of Christ – and this is the One who intercedes for us with the Father! Most of us, in our prayer time, probably do not spend enough time praising God, and thanking Him for being our High Priest probably never crosses our minds. We need to change that; without Him we would be condemned to Hell, so we should always be overflowing with praise and gratitude!
25Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
let us praise God forever because of the great High Priest He has given us, who can save us from the wrath of God and free us from the bondage of sin we once lived in. Christ is the only one who intercedes for us and He is the one who speaks to God on our behalf. this verse also mentions that He saves completely. Christ saves us from all of our sin, and took all of God’s wrath for our sins on His back on the cross. Praise to Jesus Christ in heaven! Maranatha
alright you guys, lets text and call everyone we know from church so that we can get 150+ people to post on SOTD :)
26 Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
mmm what a great description of our Lord Jesus Christ!! If our Lord was a sinner and was not set apart from sin, then he’d be just like we are. But no, Jesus Christ is clean, blameless, pure, like the scripture says. He is also many more things:
Omnicient- He knows all things(Job 37:16)
Omnipotent- He posesses all power(Jeremiah 32:27)
Omnipresent- He is present everywhere(Genesis 18:14)
Eternal- He has no beginning, and no end (Deuteronomy 32:40)
Incomprehensible- He is beyond the understanding of men(Job 11:7)
Transcendent- God is above His creation (isaiah 43:10)
Sovereign- Everything is under His control and fellowship-(Daniel 4:35)
Holy- perfect(Leviticus 19:2)
Righteous-God is always good(Psalm 119:142)
Just-God is fair(numbers 14:18)
Merciful-God is compassionate(Psalm 62:12)
Wise-Gods actions are based on His character(Isaiah 40:28)
Loving-He gives Himself for another(1 John 4:8)
Good-He gives to others in a way which has no motive and is not limited by what the recipients deserve(2 Chronicles 5:13)
These are just a few of Gods attributes. He is perfect and my stomach just drops(in a good way) when i realize how unthankful i act each day…I should be praising God in every moment, instead of complaining. I should be praying to Him and meditating on His Word more than an hour of the day…especially now that its summer! We are to completely fear God…do our lives show it?
Yes Michelle! That’s what I’m talking about!
This chapter is definitely about the glories of Christ – how his priesthood (from the order of Melchizedek) is greater than the human priesthood (from the Levitical order). It ends by talking about the Son who has been made perfect forever!
I would encourage everyone to do what Michelle did here and quote other verses that tell us about the glories of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! He is the name above all names!
Philippians 2:9-11 – Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Goodmorning everyone . . .
I read . . .
Hebrews 7 . . .
“24. but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.”
“25. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.”
I actually found this very interesting because I had never known this. I didn’t know that Jesus had permanent priesthood meaning he could save those who come through God. That is so cool how whenever a person feels they need to give up their life to Him, Jesus will ALWAYS BE THERE FOR THEM. (well that party I sorta’ knew)

Good Morning True North =)
I read Hebrews 7 but these verses stood out to me. . . . . .
26) For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens;
27) who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once and for all when He offered up Himself.
This stood out to me because I never really thought about how Jesus was THE high priest and He was perfect and no one could ever measure up to Him no matter how many sacrifices they offered(I knew no one could measure up to Him). Which brings me to verse 27. All the other priests had to offer up sacrifices for their own sins and then the people’s sins. Jesus did not have to do this because He lived a perfect life and died the perfect death for EVERYBODY’S sins. Note He did not have to die for His sins for He was sinless and THAT is why we are all saved, through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Have a good day!!

26Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
Jesus is soooo amazing! He is all of these things and so perfect. This is where the bar is set for all of us…. being holy and blameless! I like the “set apart from sinners” part…. It should be obvious when were in a big crowd that we are christians. We should stand out and make sure that there is something obviously different between us and nonchristians!
26 Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
We need to take some time to think about the holiness of Christ. The more we understand that Christ is holy and without sin (Hebrews 4:15, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 John 3:5), the more we see our own sinfulness and our need for Jesus. It says in 1 Peter 1:16 to be holy because he is holy. The more we grow in holiness, the more we need assurance that the perfect righteousness of Christ is credited to us. Christ’s life is meant to be an example of holiness for us to follow. We need to desire to follow him in everything that we do and live a life set apart from the rest of the world.
If you haven’t read “The Pursuit of Holiness” yet, by Jerry Bridges, then READ IT!
27Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
God is so good to us! He sent His only son, who lived a perfect life, to carry the sins of the world on his shoulders. We cant even imagine what that must have been like. But praise God that we do not have to make sacrifices anymore! He has paid the price!
25Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
26Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
This is such a important distinction to make adout Christ!! He meets all of our needs because we as humans can not at all live up to how we are supposed to and are horrible sinners. But Christ lived the perfect live he was holy, blamelesss, pure, set apart from sinners, and exalted above the heavons. We should always strive to be like Christ in these ways but we will never fully get there her on earth.
I also think its cool how in verse 25 it says “those who come to God through him” . It doesnt just say those who come to God. It makes the distinction that we come to God through Him and not of our own power!!
Hebrews 7:26Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. (Then) The author has been describing to his audience who Jesus is and how He is the great high priest in order of Melchizedek. He has just told them that Jesus is eternal, and is therefore able to completely save those who come to God through Him, always being the intecessor between them and God. He then goes on to further describe Jesus, the great high priest. He writes that He meets our need in the way that He is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, eand exalted above the heavens. (Always) All have turned away from God to follow themselves. God created man to life holy lives, yet each of them have turned away and fallen into lives of filthy, rotten sin. In order not to suffer death, the people needed perfection, for that was the standard that was set, for God, being perfect, can’t be around that which is not perfect. Jesus came as the great high priest in a way that meets our need, the need for perfection. Jesus is holy, blamess, pure, set apart from sinners, and exalted above the heavens; He is spotless and perfect, for He has never sinned. He is exactly what everyone needs, for without Him, people would be stuck with their rotten lives. However, through repentance and faith, one can be credited with the righteousness of Jesus Christ, being saved from the pits of hell and being able to spend eternity in heaven! (Now) I need to rejoice in the perfect life of Jesus Christ. I was given a chance to live a perfect and holy life. I am not done with that life, but I have already failed completely. I am a sinner, far fropm perfection, yet I am assured of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I know that since I have repented of my sins and placed my faith in Christ, I will have salvation! I need to be so thankful to God, for had He not sent His Son down, I would be made to suffer the penalty for what I deserve because of my sins. In Christ, SEE
21but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him: “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: ‘You are a priest forever.’ ”
This verse is reassuring to any Chrsitian- knowing that God is always faithful and won’t change. He has given us his Word, and, unlike most other religions, he has not changed it and will not change it. So many other religions pick and choose what they want from the BIble and take out the things they dont want. The Lord isnt like that. He has been the same all throughout the ages and gives us hope that he will always be faithful.
24but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.
Forever is such a difficult thing to comprehend…and Jesus will reign forever!!! It’s mind boggling isn’t it?!?! Praise to Jesus Christ, who sacrificed himself for us sinners who deserve nothing!! People make up too many excuses for his act of rising from the dead..it must be explained scientifically or Jesus never rose from the dead. LAME!!! Too many witnesses and too many prophecies to prove their accusations incorrect!! GOD IS GOOD!!!!!!!!! :D
26 Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
Soooo true that He is all of those! ^^^^
Romans 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.”
-Jesus Christ is the one who gives us peace (Romans 16:20, Philippians 4:7)
-Jesus Christ is the one who gives us the joy of our hope for Christ’s return (Micah 7:7, Titus 3:5-7)
-and there are a lot more :)
“Such a great high priest MEETS OUR NEED – one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.”
I love the contrast between Christ and us in this chapter.
Verse 26 implies that we have great need. We are not holy, blameless or any of those things. We fall way short.
On the other hand Christ is all of those things. This perspective should give us a very highly exalted view of Christ! It should make us want to worship him, as well as to be like him.
27Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
Wow!! This passage did a great job reassuring us that Jesus was the ultimate atoning sacrifice for sin- past, present, and future! Christ’s physical death was enough to cover the sins of everyone who ever lived, and who ever will live! I don’t think I, or anyone else for that matter, can fully comprehend how horrific this death must have been for it to be enough to cover all sin; especially when it just said that sacrificing animals all day every day was not near enough to cover the sins of any one person.
26 Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
28 For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.
These verses are so great!!! They really do remind us and show us how awesome and powerful Christ is!! Not only that, but these verses really made me think about God too. Just to think that He was the mastermind behind this perfectly planned situation for mankind! To make something better, longer lasting, and more perfect than Abraham is just really amazing! This really shows how loving, powerful, and thoughtful God is to create such a perfect plan for us all! Praise God!
thank you ever so much for answering my question that I had yesterday Bobby! :D
and Michelle, my robot friend, great comment! I love admonishing all of God’s qualities the way you did!
23Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office;
24but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood
Jesus and Melchizedek were the few that were not from the Levi descents…and for a good reason! If they had been from there, they wouldn’t have fulfilled the prophecies that were needed to save all of us who are sinful. There have been many high priests, I believe 84, but none that could save us all from our sin! Jesus was the ultimate atoning sacrifice and since He still lives today, and is the only one that does, He still saves us that are living here on Earth today.
I am extremely grateful for Christa too who gave our small groups verses about God’s holiness a while back. :) My fave would have to be Isaiah 6:1-5 where the seraphs can’t even look at God because He is so holy and amazing, even scary. They cover their feet, faces, and fly with their wings and cry out to Him “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory” :)
23Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office;
24but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.
25Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
These verses should really give us hope… this is because Jesus can forever save. He wasn’t limited to saving just his disciples when he was on earth. Because of this we can have confidence in our faith to produce salvation through Christ, or better put, we can have confidence that Christ will still save us 2000 years after his death….. salvation wasn’t limited to those who saw Christ…
Happy Summer All!!!!
25 “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. ”
This verse shows that God will save us but we just need to search for him. But God saves forever and is not limited to those from the past but to us and those to come!!!
24but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.
25Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
26Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
27Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
28For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.
These verses prove that Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for every person until the end of the world. He paid the price so that we could have eternal life with Him. He is the one high priest. I love verse 25 especially, because Christ lives to intercede for us. We need to be thankful and not take it for granted that Jesus sacrificed Himself for us.
25 “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.”
27 “Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.”
This reminds me of what pastor Mike just preached on Sunday: our TOTAL/complete fogiveness and salvation. It is so awesome, to think of God’s grace. We had an infinite debt of sin against him, and we could never do enough righteousness to pay for it. But, in His mercy and grace, God credited our sin to Jesus’ account, took the perfect life of righteousness that He had lived, and credited that righteousness to our account. All we have to do is put our confidence in Him.
That is truly something worth celebrating!
25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
God intercedes for us! This is something to be VERY thankful for. As sinners, we deserve nothing but damnation. We dont deserve to be with God, but because he is a loving God, he intercedes or “intervenes” for us. He took the punishment for our sins and put it on himself (when he died on the cross). We should be SO insanely thankful!
26 Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
This is a big hit to catholicism. Jesus is our priest and he alone. He is holy, blameless, pure, and set apart unlike any man; he is perfect, and we can go to him whenever. We confess our sins to him alone because he is the only one that can save us from them and forgive us.
24but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.
25Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
26Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
Praise to the perfect Jesus Christ! We should be so thankful that Jesus forgave us, mere mortals and sinners. We deserved nothing but God who lives forever and is blameless and “set apart for sinners” died for every sinner. Wow
27Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
Great verse, Jesus doesn’t need to offer sacrifices everyday because He doesn’t sin and He will never sin. He doesn’t have to sacrifice for other people’s sin because He was the guiltless sacrifice that took the punishment, that was the sacrifice for all of our sin and therefore since He has paid for it all we don’t have to make anymore sacrifices like the people in the Old Testment did.
wow…michelle that was a lot of cross references!!! I also wanted to add a little more to my last comment!
26Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
Description on Christ: (that is given in this verse)
-Holy
-Blameless
-Pure
-Set apart from sinners
-Exalted above the heavens
We need to have a high view of Christ! We need to be like Jesus! (Ephesians 5:1)
I’m just thinking on how Jesus is exalted above the heavens and how humbled He was here on Earth! He never bragged about Himself being God or didn’t say look I did all of these miracles, look at me. It’s amazing!
Pretty nice post. I just found your blog and wanted to say
that I have really liked reading your posts. Any way
I’ll be subscribing to your blog and I hope you post again soon!
25Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
The only way to be saved is through christ. It sad to think there are people out there who think they can make it to heaven by just good works alone. Its so important to remember this verse because we can use it on so many occasions. We need to reach out to these people because they might not even understand that they are headed for an eternal punishment.
22Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.
23Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office;
24but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.
JESUS is the only one on the earth and in heaven that we can be saved by. He is ultimately powerful and has the blessing of GOD himself. He is GOD. He is also pure and blameless, a high priest that can forgive our sins. CHRIST is the only way to heaven.
Steffen, legit comment bro, keep up the good work!
12For when there is a change of the priesthood, there must also be a change of the law.
Like Ariana, I really found the whole Melchizedek priest thing interesting, and the complexity of what Jesus did on the cross for us also amazed me. I liked this verse Because it reminded me that we are no longer under the lavitical law with it’s system of sacrafices, but that we are instead under the law of grace. Because of Jesus’ final and complete sacrafice as a priest in the order of Melchizedek (which is symbolic of Jesus’ superiority to the Lavitcal priest hood v.4-7), we can have confidence in the constant forgiveness or our sin and a relationship with God. Jesus’ perfect life and sacrafice(fullfillment of the Levitcal priest hood) eliminated the need for us to earn our salvation, and instead put us under the new law of grace and salvation by faith!
Wow, 40 posts! I was becoming impatient (in a good way) just scrolling down the page! Great job!
Hebrews 7:27 “Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.”
In this verse, it explains how Jesus is PERFECT and SINLESS!!! I LOVE IT!!! The second part of this verse kinda speaks for itself . . . Jesus only sacrificed once and on ly needed to do it once, because he was the perfect sacrifice that we all needed so desperately. It really upsets me when I forget how good and perfect he was to give us salvation because he loves us sooo much! I really need to remember that, and when I do, it gives me the GREATEST FEELING!
GOD BLESS!!!
P.S. OH MY GOODNESS! Some people posted first thing in the morning! And by ‘morning’ I mean 12:00 am!!! Way to be on fire for the Lord!!!
Hi! I just got back from tumbling class… and i hurt my hip pretty bad, so if you could pray that would be awesome :) Thankssss
25Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
26Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
Wow! After reading these two verses, I am just over whelmed with thanks and gratefulness toward Jesus, our Savior. In verse 26 it explains that Jesus is “set apart from sinners”. Yet he still “always lives to intercede for them”. That is REAL love. We don’t deserve Christ’s interceding on our behalf, and we need to praise, and thank him DAY and NIGHT… continuously for his sacrifice, and for loving us enough to plead for our eternal lives. Because we dont deserve ANY of his mercy :)
BEACH NIGHT BOOYAAHH! cant wait till tomorroww nightt WOOT WOOT!
♥always- mady
hey everyone!!
25Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.—-This verse makes me think why some people don’t realize how God saves them when they choose to turn their life around. I am so thankful that Jesus died for us and He saved us! If it wasn’t for Him we wouldnt be alive. And since He died for us we must live for Him. I pray that we can all be the example that God wants all of us to be because of what grace He has on us.
cannot wait for BEACH NIGHT!! BOOYYAH!! :D
25Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
You can only be saved through Christ. The thought about people not bieng able to go to heaven because they dont know the gospel is sad. We need to preach to these people and tell them the truth about where they will go and you dont have to just be good to go to heaven you have to repent!
Wow great comments today!
25Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
26Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
Amen! The FACT that Jesus is our high priest who intercedes on behalf of us for good and completely is so reassuring and such a reality check for everyone; we are only saved through faith in Him! We can’t earn it, we can’t be holy, blameless and pure but the grace of God covers our sinful unrighteousness as Christ’s righteousness is transferred onto our account the moment we repent and believe. Amazing grace how sweet the sound!
27Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
jesus was perfect and yethe sacreficed his life for ours, he did not need to make sacrafices to atone for his sin, because he had no sin. what a sacrifice, i mean you have to be so dedicated to someone to die for them, and jesus did it for everyone. thats like us dying for someone on the other side of the planet. what an act of love
God is good
c u all at the beach nite
V.27
Jesus Christ died for our past, present and future sins, He has sacrificed for them all! He suffered so much just so we don’t have to suffer.
25.) Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
I completely echo the other comments. This verse is straight to the point! The only way to get to heaven is through Christ! There is no good work that anyone can do in order to get eternal life. God saves, and it is such an awesome thing! It is scary to know that many people out there do not know Christ, and it is our job as Christians to be the ones they hear it from! I am excited for future evangelisms in the future from this point on! Praise God for the work he has done in people’s lives!
27Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
Here again they remind us one of the many things Jesus did for us; which was dieng for our sins. So we may live a better afterlife or u can call it internal life. Jesus made the greatest sacrificed there can ever be. What is sad is that most people do not realize that.
24 but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.
the only person or thing we can get eternity through is Jesus Christ. He will live forever and is the Alpha and Omega. He is permanent. What he did will last forever and what He is going to do will change everything so we can live with Him for Eternity
27Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
Awesome verse! Unlike the high priests of the Old Testament, Christ did not have to offer a sacrifice to cover his own sins before sacrificing for the sin of the people. He lived perfect, sinless life and therefore doesn’t need to make a sacrifice for himself. Because he lived the perfect life and sacrificed his own life, Christ sacrifice is complete! There is no need to make daily sacrifice to forgive our sins because his death is sufficient for all our sins. Praise the Lord for the sacrifice once and for all!
27Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
The gospel is in this verse- because Jesus lived a perfect life, and the fact that he died in our place and then rose again we can have salvation and be right with God. Its a beautiful thing, and we have every reason to be thankful and praise Him with every breath!
The Verse That spoke out to me was verse 24 because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.
25Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
26Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
That means to is how God will never lie in bieing priest. He is the all and everything in our life.WE cant go to another priest to ask for forgiveness . We go through Jesus.
“Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.” Christ always lives and will live to intercede for us! This is an awesome thought/reminder, he intercedes for us in our prayers, repentance, and when we first receive salvation through our first occurrence of repentance and faith. I want to live a life that reflects my gratefulness for Christ’s intercession in my life, and the life of so many others. Lord help me to live a life with actions reflecting my gratefulness for your Son’s life for mine, his intercession!
Be prepared and praying for Revival ’09! 12 Days!!!
Now this is cool! Jesus, just as the priest Malchizedek, were chosen by God through an oath and righteousness to be high priests.
Although they are both priests Jesus is far greater than Malchizedek because he became a priest through the fulfillment of the law and an oath given to him; oh, and also he was resurrected from the dead, not that doesn’t happen every day.
So, Jesus lives forever and intercedes for us to God so that (1) we could be saved and (2) we could continue to receive bountiful grace from God.
SOTD, an ingenious invention!
26 Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
Jasmine, awesome comment! Jesus is so other than us, so superior in all of his holiness and glory! He is the only one who can meet our need (John 14:6).
God calls us to be holy as he is holy in 1 Peter 1:16, we need to wake up everyday ready to run toward that goal in all areas of our lives!
I read…
I liked verses 18-19… “The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.” This chapter was awesome because it explains to us how the old order of priesthood was abolished through Jesus. I am thankful because since Jesus died on the cross for me, I can now go to God through a perfect being, whereas in the OT people had to go to God through an imperfect priest who was made temporarily perfect through the law.
I CANT WAIT FOR REVIVAL!!!!
Not one verse stuck out to me, but just he fact that Christ is now our high priest interceding for us to the Father. That we can go directly to him now w/o fear of being destroyed.
Thank you Lord, for sending your son to be the penalty for our sin. To be the punishment when you deserved none of it, and we deserve it all.
28For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.
Jesus Christ livecd the perfect life and paid the penalty for our isn once and all. That is why he is the way truth and life. No man can deny that Jesus Christ is God’s Sonn and expect God to let them into heaven.
25Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
It is amazing to see how perfectly Christ meets our needs. this is an awesome verse that helps to explain that Jesus is the only way to God.
27Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
The biggest sacrifice was when God sent his one and only son to die on the cross for our sins. John 3:16. He sacrificed himself for our sins once and only once. It isn’t day after day that he needs to sacrifice himself.
Hebrews 7
26 Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
I am so thankful that our high priest Jesus Christ is holy, blameless, pure and set apart from sinners. Unlike other religions and cults who put their faith and trust in man we put our faith in a perfect God. When you put your faith in man you eventually will be disillusioned by their sinful human frailty.
1st Corinthians 2:4-5 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.
Psalm 110:4 The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”
Hebrews 4:14-16 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. 16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
26 Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
How awesome is Jesus Christ? He is the only one who was able to sacrifice Himself for us because He lived a perfect life! He “meets our need” in that He has taken the blame for our sin!
Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.
I am assuming that this is talking about Jesus being the high priest. But I really liked what Brett said about there is no one who can take or replace Jesus.
24 but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood
Jesus lives forever!!! This is only a taste of eternity imagine what it will be like with God in heaven for eternity.
