Psalms 20-21

Psalms 20-21

Trust in the Name of the Lord Our God

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

20:1 May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble!
May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!
May he send you help from the sanctuary
and give you support from Zion!
May he remember all your offerings
and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah

May he grant you your heart’s desire
and fulfill all your plans!
May we shout for joy over your salvation,
and in the name of our God set up our banners!
May the Lord fulfill all your petitions!

Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed;
he will answer him from his holy heaven
with the saving might of his right hand.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
They collapse and fall,
but we rise and stand upright.

O Lord, save the king!
May he answer us when we call.

The King Rejoices in the Lord‘s Strength

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

21:1 O Lord, in your strength the king rejoices,
and in your salvation how greatly he exults!
You have given him his heart’s desire
and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah
For you meet him with rich blessings;
you set a crown of fine gold upon his head.
He asked life of you; you gave it to him,
length of days forever and ever.
His glory is great through your salvation;
splendor and majesty you bestow on him.
For you make him most blessed forever;
you make him glad with the joy of your presence.
For the king trusts in the Lord,
and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved.

Your hand will find out all your enemies;
your right hand will find out those who hate you.
You will make them as a blazing oven
when you appear.
The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath,
and fire will consume them.
10 You will destroy their descendants from the earth,
and their offspring from among the children of man.
11 Though they plan evil against you,
though they devise mischief, they will not succeed.
12 For you will put them to flight;
you will aim at their faces with your bows.

13 Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength!
We will sing and praise your power. (ESV)

5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.

This verse relates to me a lot. Before every soccer game i have, my team and i pray that the Lord will protect us, and will keep us safe. And no matter what the outcome of the game is, we pray again to let the Lord know that we played the game to glorify him.

  2. Allie Moorefield(: says:

7 For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.
Through Gods unfailing love we will not be shaken! Gods love and mercy is indescribable and we dont deserve any of his love and mercy! God is a LOVING and glorious God.
5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.
This relates to me because when i get what i asked for, most of the time i am just joyful and i really need to be thanking God! Thats what i need to do when he gives me what i asked for, instead of being joyful and leaving God out of the picture. God is the only one that can make those requests, nobody else can help with that.

  3. jsoh says:

5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests. i need to work on praising the lord more and to sing shouts of praise to him all the time. i also need to work on asking the lord for strenth through out the day.

  4. Beth Lauder says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. 8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

Psalm 20 was written before David was heading out to battle. In these verses the people are pointing out that their enemies are going to trust in the strength of their army (chariots & horses) but that Israel will trust in God. It is a temptation to trust in physical things over God, who is unseen. However, verse 8 points out that those who trust in earthly things will fall whereas those who trust in the LORD will stand firm. I might not be tempted to trust in chariots and horses, but during times of illness I have been tempted to trust in doctors, medications or procedures for healing. During difficult financial times I have been tempted to trust in my paycheck or my bank account to make ends meet. Psalm 20 reminds me that I am foolish to trust in anything other than God for deliverance. Thank you God that you are the one who saves me from my sin and delivers me from difficult circumstances in Your perfect timing!

  5. Mike says:

6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand.

This psalm, like many others, was written ‘for the director of music.’ It was meant to be sung. And every time that the people sang this verse, they were reminded of the Lord’s salvation. Similarly, we need to set up daily reminders for ourselves about how God has rescued us from the judgement for our sin. First, it will help us to always be praising and thanking Him for what He has done for us. And secondly, it will remind us of our mission here on this earth, to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

    Psalm 20:7-8
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

The LORD is the best thing to trust in. From we Revival 09, one of the verses we memorized was 1Corinthians 10:11-13. And in verse 12 is says:

“So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!”

The LORD is there for us to call for strength(Philippians 4:13) and when we stand for Him and not for ourselves, we are standing firm. But make sure you keep your eyes fixed on Him, because any little sin can distract you and can make you fall.

Psalm 21:13 Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength; we will sing and praise your might.

Amen. The LORD has done so much for us that we need to sing praises and exalt Him all the time. He has given us each breath we breathe, so that we may live another second on this earth and because of that we need to live for Him and not for ourselves. :]

    ***SING TO THE KING!!!***

  7. Nicholas Bonetto says:

I like Psalm 21:7, “The king trusts in the LORD; through the failing love of the most high he will not be shaken.”

Anyone who fully trusts in the LORD will not easily be shaken by temptations of the world, because God’s love is unfailing. Even though I am going to be tempted and will fall, I know that God’s unfailing love will not let me be corrupted by it, I will stand back up and keep facing other temptaions. This is such an encouraging verse, God is our rock, and we take refuge in Him.

  8. Ben Blakey says:

2 May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.

This verse made me think of a few verses that we read a few days ago in Psalm 18:
7 The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook; they trembled because he was angry.
8 Smoke rose from his nostrils; consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it.
9 He parted the heavens and came down; dark clouds were under his feet.
10 He mounted the cherubim and flew; he soared on the wings of the wind.

That is what it looks like when God “sends us help from the sanctuary. I serve such an awesome and powerful God, and in every circumstance I need to remain confident in him, remembering how much more powerful he is than anything else I might face.

And this is the same God who hears our prayers about things like Revival:Remix! So let’s keep praying and expecting God to do great things!

  9. Alicia Karlsson says:

6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand.
There is such a great confidence in the Psalmist that the Lord will save him. Even though the battle had not taken place yet the psalmist has a prophetic outlook that the LORD will save them. There is no doubt in his statement because he is not looking to himself to win he is putting his trust in the LORD. What a great challenge to me that when I am looking into a hard or trying situation that I can completely trust in the LORD to save me. That no matter what I may be facing the LORD will save me from it.
The next part of the verse is so reassuring “He answers him from his holy heaven” God is completely involved in our lives he does not sit back and play a passive role but he answers from heaven. My response to this is LORD how can I ever not trust you for you are greater than all nations and you will answers as I call out to you. LORD today may I meditate on this verse and be reminded that my GOD is living and active in my life and will save me from any battle that I may have to fight!

  10. Melissa Cox says:

9 At the time of your appearing you will make them like a fiery furnace. In his wrath the LORD will swallow them up, and his fire will consume them.

This is a scary reminder about what will happen to those who aren’t saved when the LORD returns. We need to remember this and love people enough to share the gospel with them. Invite as many friends as you can to REMIX tomorrow night!!

  11. steffen eriksen says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

This psalm talks of how many put their trust in physical possessions, bt David trusts in the LORD. And as the rest are brought low, so those who trust in the LORD rise up as they are standing firm. Chariots were great things in older times. Royalty rode around on chariots pulled by fine horse, and plain horses were thought great too. And in those days, many put their faith and trust in the chariots and horses, but they were brought low. The ones that trusted in God were the ones that rose up and stood firm. This still applies to us today, whatever physical possessions or things you want to use. Many people only care about lots of money, a good job, or a nice car, but they will all be brought down to their knees. We need to have our trust in the LORD instead of the world, and then we will rise up and stand firm instead of falling down. I need to not have confidence in this world or trust that it can truly satisfy me with happiness. Instead I need to trust in God and His power, and find real joy in Him!

  12. Ian H. says:

    ~Psalm 20~
7 “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.”

As we can see, those who trust in earthly things that are uncertain and changing will fall in the end. But we, if our trust and hope is in God, will, in the end, still be standing firm! God is the one thing in this life that we can depend on because He is the only thing that does not change. Let’s rely on Him today!

    ~Psalm 21~
6 “Surely you have granted him eternal blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.
7 For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.”

David spends most of Psalm 21 praising and thanking the LORD for all the good *He* has done for him. He acknowledges that all the good things that have happened to him happened because God is good. But catch what he says finally in verse seven: God blesses him with so much great stuff *because he trusts in Him.* Once again, we see the theme of faith in the LORD throughout both these Psalms. How important it is for us to understand all this! Are we genuinely relying on God today?

  13. T moore says:

21:7 For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.

If we put our trust in the LORD fully, He will reward us. As it says in the middle of the verse “through the unfailing love of the Most High” it is through the unfailing love of our LORD that will keep us from being shaken. He will also reward us and protect us if we stay strong and on fire for Him.

  14. Meisha Preston says:

13 Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength; we will sing and praise your might.

One of the things I need to praise God for is his strength and his might. God is in control of all and he raises up kingdoms and brings them down. He dictates the outcome of every war and everything works together to accomplish his will. This is so awesome!! I need to praise God more for his might.

  15. 7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. 8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

So true you guys! The world trusts in earthly things for their plans to suceed, for life to fall into place, and for whatever they need but as Christians we don’t, we trust in the Lord…or at least we are supposed to. When things get tough where do we run? Do we remember that He who is promised is faithful, that He is working all things together for our good and His glory (Romans 8:28-29), do we remember that we can do all things through HIM who gives us strength (Phil 4:13)?? Let us look at the example of David going into battle and where he put his trust and strive to do the same; putting our trust in the Lord for ALL things!

  16. Cameron says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

as many have pointed out before, we as Christians are to hope in God and call on His Name in our times of distress, and not depend on worldy possessions. though we may not be riding into physical battle like David, everyday there is a spiritual war going on around us. when we face trials and tribulations, persecutions and hardships, who will we go to? will we go to our music, friends, or will we cry out to the Lord of our salvation. if we trust in the Name of the Lord, we will win because He our Refuge and our Rock

    I read . . .

    Psalm 20 & 21 . . .

“1. May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.”

Whatever trouble we are in, the bible says it right here in this verse that God will come and rescue us out of our trouble. God will be there for us when we need Him most. To fight off temptation and evil, we are to wear the Armor of God and fight with the Word of God. Which, in Hebrews is SHARPER THAN AY DOUBLE EDGED SWORD. =)

the day the lord comes back for us will be the most amazing day of our life! THe day we get to go see heaven and live eternally with and for CHrist. BUt for the unbelivers it will be awfulll, so we need to spread God’s word and love! Excited for revival remix!!!!!!!!!!

  19. kyle "da homie" johnson 2010 says:

    Psalm 20:
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

This is one of my favorite verses in the whole Bible! David had fought tough battles where it looked like He was going to lose, but the Lord delivered His enemies into His hands as He promised! The Lord actually wins battles, not the horses and chariots in David’s case!

    Psalm 21:
7 For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.

The king is David, refers to himself in that way. David, trusts in the Lord as you can see in the Bible. This second part of this verse reminds me of Beach Night two or three weeks ago about God’s Love and how it’s always there! David knows that and “he will not be shaken” His trust in God will be firm because of His unfailing love!

  20. Tanner says:

    Ello… I read

I like verse 6,”Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand.”

I like this verse because it tells of GOD delivering David from evil. GOD will always protect us from evil either spiritual or physical. Once we are in CHRIST then we are always in HIM but we are able to be killed on earth but when we die its because GOD planned it and it was time to come home.

  21. Brooke Miller says:

13 Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength; we will sing and praise your might.

Mmmmmmmm! God is all powerful and in control! He deserves all our praises and to be glorified in everything. His might is one thing to praise him for! God is so perfect and holy, and we should always be thinking of how we can commit ourselves to serving The Lord daily and with a passion!

  22. Nachooooooooooo says:

13 Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength; we will sing and praise your might.

The God we serve is so great! We ned to be exalting and praising Him in our everyday life, looking to bring Hm glory in everything we do. What a blessing it is to have the all-powerful God that we have.

  23. Michelle [maranatha] 2010 says:

9 At the time of your appearing you will make them like a fiery furnace. In his wrath the LORD will swallow them up, and his fire will consume them.

WOW.this isnt scary at all……NOT! This is a great reason why we need to fear God! Lets make sure that non believers know this kind of stuff that will happen when the Lord returns. Dont hesitate and dont hold back on telling them the truth! They need to know what they are in for if they dont put their faith in Christ and repent of their sins and live for Christ Jesus. The Lord is powerful and He has the power to do bigger things than we could possibly imagine! Lets get out there and share the good news and the scary news to those who dont know Christ

    MARANATHA!

  24. Dan Lauder says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

I agree Kyle and others. This is one of my favorite verses too. It is really what life comes down to. What are we going to trust in to make us happy? The things the world offers or the God who created the world? Trusting in God alone is the only way to get the fulfillment and deep contentment that everyone is looking for. Jesus said he came to give us life to the full (John 10:10) and that whoever comes to him will find fulfillment (John 6:35).

  25. 7 For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.

I love David’s descriptive words of how he describes God’s love- it’s unfailing. Love never fails (1 Corinthians 13). God’s love never ceases to amaze me. He continually overflows and blesses our lives with love that we don’t deserve. David knows that the Lord is good and trusts in Him.

13 Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength; we will sing and praise your might.

Yes! Praise the Lord! Let’s continue to glorify and praise Him with all of our might. God is awesome. He’s righteous and perfect and holy. Only He has the strength to sustain us throughout the day. When I skip out on my devotions and make an excuse, I feel like I’m missing something. We want to commit our lives for Him 24/7.

Woooo revival remix is tomorrow! I’m super excited =] I’ll be praying

  26. Luke Melrose!!!!!! 2010 says:

5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.

This is an awesome image! God is getting teh praise he deserves because he has made us victorious! This is what I feel like when God answers a prayer that I have been praying for alot.

  27. Jenae Naeeee (= says:

5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.

This is such a cool image to picture! I cant wait for the day when Jesus returns and is victorious and when we all get to praise him and worship him.

  28. Billy Morris says:

13 Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength; we will sing and praise your might.

this verse is good because God is all powerful, and I need to always remember that. God strength and power has no limits, and there is nothing that can stand as a obstacle to him. There are plently and plenty of things to praise the Lord for, and his strength is one of the most important.

  29. Max says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

Today we don’t really use horses or chariots, but there are a lot of things in the world that people trust today. But all those things; cars, money, or anything else, are just things of the world. Our trust is in the Lord. And God is unchanging , He won’t ever change one bit. He always has been perfect, and always will be. He loves us the same way He first did and it’s never going to change. In Him we have our solid foundation that cannot be moved! God is where our trust needs to be 100% of the time!

  30. ۞۞Ŧŗɇɤϕŗ ђɵśᵮɵŗȡ ۞۞ says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

i know that evryone is ttalking about this verse but it i s a great one. we need to trust in the Lord not in things on this world

c u all at beach night tommorow

  31. P.J. says:

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.”

This is an awesome thought, the world trusts in their wealth and fame that doesn’t last but we trust in God! Proverbs 18:10-11 says, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it an unscalable wall.” All over the Bible there are constant reminders to trust in what is eternal, and not what is on earth. Jesus tells us that we need to store up treasures in heaven and not on earth where things can be destroyed and stolen. I need to always be thinking of the eternal treasures and not the earthly treasures that mislead people.

    Revival remix!!!!

  32. Lizzie Holt :D says:

7Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

So many people today believe in or put all their time and effort into worldly things that will not last. They can always fail through machinery default or through a natural disaster. Yet God, God is always there and never fails especially when we need Him most. If we trust in Him to get us through, He will because He never fails.

  33. Sarah G.! says:

4 May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.
2 You have granted him the desire of his heart and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.

WOO looks like answered prayer!! God is good!! These verses gave me more faith for when i pray!! Of course, sometimes his answer is no, but if it’s the Lord’s will let it be done!! Prayer with faith is so vital, so i will pray with even more diligence this week for those whom i know are not saved! :D

  34. Brett *2010* says:

5.) We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.
13.) Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength; we will sing and praise your might.

Mmm, praise God for how AWESOME he is!! Like Nacho said, we NEED to be praising God every day, and giving Him the glory in everything we do!

  35. hunter 2010 says:

6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand.

Like Beth Lauder said, Psalm 20 was the pre-battle priase song/pep talk of Isreal on behalf of their king to God. Let’s follow the same pattern as Isreal and reafirm our tust and dependance on God when things get out of hand.

12 for you will make them turn their backs when you aim at them with drawn bow.

I thought that the NASB translation of this verse was waaaaaay better, it says “For you will make them turn their back; You will aim with your bowstrings at their faces.” This is a great reminder for us to remeber that God is not messing around. His holiness and righteous anger are not to underestimated, and this encourages me to fear Him more.

  36. ~Elizabeth Reeves~ says:

9 At the time of your appearing you will make them like a fiery furnace. In his wrath the LORD will swallow them up, and his fire will consume them.

Wow this is intense! It doesn’t sound like a warm fuzzy God. But as we know, God has many traits. God is forgiving, jealous, just, and above all wrathful. As some of you have said already, this is something we just cannot ignore. We need to keep in mind that this is what God will be doing to the non Christians we know, and I’m sure we don’t want this to happen to them. So when we interact with non Christians wherever we go, keep this verse in mind!

  37. Riley Hancock says:

6 Surely you have granted him eternal blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.

We need to get people closer to God so we can gloryfy God with every thing we do.

  38. MG says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

I have really enjoyed the comments on this verse so far.

I totally agree that it is often far too easy to place our trust in earthy things. I also think one of the biggest temptations today is to trust in ourselves. We have no problem turning to God in times of inadequacy but what about our areas of confidence? As a Christian, I definitely want to remember that apart from Him, I can do nothing. I should never have confidence in myself but always be looking to Him, in every situation and circumstance for strength and guidance.

  39. Allen "Wrench" McAnlis says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm

Many people put their faith in false Gods. We know to put our faith in the one true God. If we believe in and follow false gods, we will surely fall. If we put our faith and trust in God then we will always be victorious. God watches over His children and makes sure they are safe.

  40. Matt Crichton says:

    Psalm 20
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

I liked these verses. Many people put their trust in the things of this world where moths and rust destroy and theives break in and steal. I dont remember the reference for that verse, but it is true. We should be storing up heavenly treasures that will last forever. The verse says that those who put their faith in material things will fall, but those who put their faith in God will stand firm.

    Psalm 21

This chapter talked about how God blessed David because of his faith. This is something that we as Christians can look forward to. When we have faith in God and do what he commands, though we may be persecuted, God will bless us. David also took the time to thank God for his many blessings. He praised God and sang songs gloifying God. I pray that we will take the time o do the same. We have much to be thankful for.

  41. Chelseaaaaaa says:

13 Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength; we will sing and praise your might.

Help me to praise You in every situation.

  42. Jasmine Douglas says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. 8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

Trusting in the Lord, something I’ve been doing a lot lately! I love that no matter what we go through, we can always come to the Lord and trust that he is in total control. Proverbs 3:5-6 <3

  43. Nicole waymire says:

Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

As a lot of you posted on, I love this verse!!!
Some of my friends(non-christian…not my REAL friends :]) put their trust in this world and when I’m around them I sometimes “join in” with what they are saying-WRONG! I need to remember my God and tell them about what He thinks, is, and commands! I know in my heart that I trust Him and not the world but, sometimes I slip up and momentarily put my trust in this world. I just need to pray, pray, pray and surround myself with my christian friends!

Revival Remix babyyyy :) I have a prayer request: pray for my friends(and I’m sure other people’s friends) that don’t want to go! Pray that the Lord would soften their hearts or “help” them decide to go and listen and hopefully respond to the message!

  44. Murphy Danahy says:

3 You welcomed him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on his head.
4 He asked you for life, and you gave it to him— length of days, for ever and ever.

Wow it’s so amazing the things that GOD will do for his followers. He can give them anything, and he promises the greatest gift of all, eternal life. It is so amazing that GOD will even pay attention to unimportant man, us. But he does and he bestows blessing after blessing.

  45. Elise says:

2 Psalms today! DOUBLE IT UP!

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

In our society, people aren’t exactly trusting in chariots and horses. Now, they are simply trusting in money and power. Their security for the future lies in how much money and influence they have compared to others. The problem is that neither can give them actual security because both are “so uncertain” (1 Timothy 6:17). They are temporary and can fail as quickly as they come. God, however, is eternal; and so are his promises. He has continually proven himself throughout history as the only God who has the power to save and secure futures. How awesome that we have a chance to give our lives to Him!

Praying for Revival Remix TOMORROW NIGHT!! BRING YOUR FRIENDS!

  46. Francesca says:

Hey everyone I like verses Psalm 20:7+8:

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.”

It is so important to trust in the LORD and not in worldly things. He is in control of the whole world and HE is the one that will keep you safe. If we do not trust in God, we will deal with the consiquences. We have to trust in Him with our whole hearts. I need to trust the LORD with EVERYTHING that goes on.

  47. melissa says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

i definitely have one idol in my life, and that is my cell phone. we all at one point have an idol, and thats why we have christian friends. so that they will keep us accountable and we wont fall into sin all the time. i know my accountability partner always checks and makes sure i have read my bible or gone on sotd. and i do the same thing back. i think having an accountability partner helps us “rise up and stand firm” :)

  48. Jackson Dahl says:

13 Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength; we will sing and praise your might.

This is so true, we must and we will sing to and praise the Lord all the time. His mighty power is so unfathomably great! We must exalt him above EVERTHING else in our lives! Nothing can possibly compare to the Lord Almighty!

  49. Spencer Camp says:

9 At the time of your appearing you will make them like a fiery furnace. In his wrath the LORD will swallow them up, and his fire will consume them.

This is the fate in store for those who haven’t repented and trusted in Christ. Some of our friends who we see daily; this is their fate. Man, this a motivation to keep evangelizing and make sure my friends are at Revival Remix to hear the gospel! Join me and invite every non-christian you know so that they could be saved from the Lord’s wrath and redeemed in Christ!

    REVIVAL REMIX Tomorrow!!!!!!!

  50. Aubree Calderwood says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

I really like this verse because it shows us, yet again, that God wants us to stand apart from the world. We should not put our trust in earthly things because they have no power when compared to the power of God. If we put our faith in the Lord, we will be far more protected then if we trust in “chariots and horses.”

  51. Maddie Nadeau :) says:

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

Many people today, and back then, believe that material things can save them. They put so much trust on things of the world, and so much focus into the worldly ways, that when God prevails (and God ALWAYS prevails) they will all fall to their knees. Material things can not save them, no matter how much they think they can. I need to focus more on putting all of my trust and faith in God and not putting it upon myself. :) maranatha

  52. Zach V says:

9 At the time of your appearing you will make them like a fiery furnace. In his wrath the LORD will swallow them up, and his fire will consume them.

This is no joke. God will punish those who do not know him as LORD and those the LORD do not know as disciples. Although God is loving we can only know His love if He knows us. We have to know Him but He has to know us. If I were to go to the gates of the white house and tell the security that I know Barrack Obama and ask them if I could go in they would think I was crazy. But if Obama said that he knew me I could go in. Same with heaven. LORD thank you for choosing me and please let the new Christians be chosen by you and not just have a God crush.

  53. Brennan says:

    I like Psalm 21:7
What I got from it is we need to always trust in the Lord and even though we will be tempted we will still feel that coviction and truly repent nor letting the sin corrupt us.

  54. Christopher Eriksen says:

7 For the king trusts in the LORD; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.

These psalms really show how powerful God is. It’s only through His power and love that anything is done right. I have no power to change my heart or work things out, but God has the power to change and preserve me. I can’t be forgetting God, but must rather be trusting Him with my life and crying out and depending on His power for everything.

  55. Kelsey says:

6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand.

Like this verse says, God saves those who are loyal and faithful to Him. He saves his annointed, which means us. He has chosen us to be recipients o His mercy. All we have to do is call on Him and trust in Him. Wa also need to remember to thank Him. In no way do we deserve to be saved by his grace, yet we are. We could never thank Him enough

  56. laura johnson says:

4 May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.

I like this verse because I really want to have my plans and goals for what God wants me to do instead of what I want to do. And have God control everything in my future and trust in Him to do so. No plans are gonna work out unless I trust God to put them in the right direction.

Excited for Revival Remix tomorrow night!!!!

  57. Luke Skywalker says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

Although nowadays we may not have chariots and horses in our military, our country has come to depend too much on airplanes, tanks, and aircraft-carriers for victory. If our country would again turn to the Lord in times of trouble, we would have much more success. The practical application for us today is that we need to pray both for our troops overseas and for our leadership. We should pray for wisdom for our president, which is easier said than done. Yes, we might agree with this in theory, but do we really get around to praying for wisdom for Obama? Everyday, we should pray that he would make the right decisions. Also, pray that the cause of freedom of religion be advanced in the Middle East. Hopefully, the Middle East will become more receptive to the Gospel.

  58. Pastor Bobby says:

6 Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand.

I am praising God for the saving power of his right hand that we recently saw at Revival 09. It was so exciting for me to see some students get saved as their lives radically turned around.

And I am praying that we will see this again tomorrow night at Revival Remix. I am praying God will save students! That he will get them there and then invade their hearts through the teaching of his Word. Many people are trusting in methods or gimmicks to reach high school students today but I am trusting in the Lord to save!

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

Praying God will do a great work tomorrow night at Revival Remix!

  59. Eric Walker: Revival Remix TOMORROW!!!!!! says:

9 At the time of your appearing you will make them like a fiery furnace. In his wrath the LORD will swallow them up, and his fire will consume them.

10 You will destroy their descendants from the earth, their posterity from mankind.

These verses tell of the tragedy that will come when Jesus comes to earth and punishes the nonbelievers. Jesus will consume the earth with fire and all who have plotted evil against him will suffer beyond belief. It is our duty as Christians to save the nonbelievers from this happening. Just like in Matthew 28: 19, we need to go into the world and make disciples. Lets all pray daily that God will present oppertunities in our lives to evangelize and spread the gospel to nonbelievers.

  60. Gabriel Voris 2010 says:

8 Your hand will lay hold on all your enemies; your right hand will seize your foes.
9 At the time of your appearing you will make them like a fiery furnace. In his wrath the LORD will swallow them up, and his fire will consume them.

This makes me think of the two-sided deal that Pastor Mike talked about at Revival 09. There is Satan’s side and there is the Lord’s. And as I was reading this it just made me think of all the wrath that the Lord pours out on those who are not on His side. His foes are constantly consumed in God’s fire. It makes me think of how blessed I truly am that out of everybody God chose me to be one of His people on His side.

  61. Evan McKee says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

Our God is so powerful. all of the militaries of the world are nothing when they are compared to the power of God. It is so good to know that he is watching over all of his children. It is so great that he has everything that happens planned out.

  62. Lauren Goudge is finally back posting after a trip! :) says:

    hey everyone!!
7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.—This verse really reminds me of my faith I put God and from the time I became a Christian, I have really put a lot of it in Him! I am going to be working on putting all of my trust in Him and knowing that He has made my future for a reason and that I have I follow his plans! I plan on making Him the number 1 focus!! Please pray for me :)

YAY REVIVAL REMIX TOMORROW!! hope to see all of you there soo excitedd

  63. Katie Slusher says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

I pray that I would not be like the world who puts their trust in their fleeting wealth, fame or personal abilities, but that I would fully trust in the Lord! As we read in Psalm 18 a few days ago, “his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.” The way of my Lord is fully trustworthy and dependable.

  64. Sara L. says:

9 At the time of your appearing you will make them like a fiery furnace. In his wrath the LORD will swallow them up, and his fire will consume them.

We do not want to be part of the multitude of people caught in this…if we but trust in the LORD and follow Him instead we can escape this by His great mercy…why wouldn’t we choose that? I need to make sure that I am not keeping this news inside, but instead sharing it with my friends so that the LORD may work in them.

  65. Alison says:

2 May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.
This especially stood out to me right now because my friend is in a major debate with a non-believer right at this very second and I sent her this verse. We know that God will not leave us alone to defend ourselves and the validity of his Word, but its so good to be reminded of that! We have our sword and our shield, as well as the rest of the spiritual protection that God provides us for our battles!

13 Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength; we will sing and praise your might.

    Amen, our God is good!

  66. Haley Litz says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

What awesome verses! Those who are trusting in themselves and what they can do and other things fall, but those who trust in the Lord rise up and stand firm!!! We can’t put our trust in other things or in ourselves because that will result in failure! God is all powerful and we must put our trust in Him alone!

  67. Dan Blankenship says:

    Psalm 20:1-5

1 May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
2 May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion.
3 May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. Selah
4 May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.
5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.

The first five verses of this psalm are for the congregation to pray in unison probably before battle. They prayed for protection in verse one, support from God in verse two, an acceptable offering in verse three, success for David’s plans in verse four, and expressed confidence that God would answer David’s prayer. David knew how important prayer support was from his brothers and sisters in the faith.

As a church body we need to be praying for our leaders and pastors in the same way. Our leaders and pastors are human and are in need of God’s protection and success. Pray!!!!!!!

  68. josh senger says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
the world constantly tells us to put our trust in material objects. although we may not want the newest chariot or a cool horse, we have desires for new things and things that we think will make us happy. but we know that it is not because we know that the Lord is the only thing that will satisfy. i am going to work on being satisfied with Christ alone and not trying to fill my life with so much that i cant focus on God 100%

  69. Rebekah Foreman says:

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
I believe and trust in the name of the lord our God. People trust in materials or other things but Christians believe in God.

8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

Those who do not believe in God fall and Christians stand firm and tall with the Rock under us.
