Psalm 19

The Law of the Lord Is Perfect

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple;
the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
the fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
the rules of the Lord are true,
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who can discern his errors?
Declare me innocent from hidden faults.
13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins;
let them not have dominion over me!
Then I shall be blameless,
and innocent of great transgression.

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. (ESV)

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

True wisdom comes from God and His word. If we want to be wise, we need to be consistently in His word. Otherwise we’ll start confusing worldly wisdom with true wisdom. I want the real thing…not this world’s imitation.

  2. Natalie Cannavo says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.

Wow!!! This kinda just says it all about how amazing the LORD’s creation is! He made the sky and the ground and everything on them and in between. Thats jaw dropping to me! To think that it was all made in 7 days! I just can’t wrap my mind around it! This whole Scripture today is really declaring the mighty power and righteous of the LORD!! Its a good Scripture to read when I am feeling scared or worried.

  3. PaYtOn :D says:

God’s book is perfect. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17 it says:

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

God is perfect, so we know that anything He says(or in this case breathes) is perfect and holy. The Bible is our sword and we need to be ready to use it and know how to use it. If we are wanting to defend and be on God’s team, we need to read the manual He has given us. That way in battle we are ready for anything that will come our way. Remember that we are always in a battle.
The BIBLE is a RELIABLE SOURCE to listen too! :]

    ***CAN’T WAIT FOR REVIVAL REMIX!!!***

  4. Brick-E says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

WOW!!! How amazing is this verse. Every time I see something amazing in this world, I know that God created it with his own hands. It’s so overwhelming to imagine how God could create such a big place with so much detail. I’m just in awe!!!

One of my favorite chapters in the Bible!

1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.”

4 Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

As someone who likes Astronomy, I can attest to the truth of David’s statement here. He’s saying basically that even just by looking at the heavens (what people back then said when referring to space or the sky) and the skies, we should be able to see God’s glory and arrive at a greater knowledge of Him. That is true!
Since everyone on earth lives under the sky, we should all be at least acknowledging that there is a God who made it all. The beauty and intricate design of the physical universe and life can only be reasonably explained by the the idea that some intelligent force created it all: God. We should all be able to see this in Creation. Thus, as it says in Romans (1 or 2 I believe), we are all without excuse if we deny God’s existence.

7 “The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.”

Why did everyone come back from REVIVAL 09 so excited and burning for God? Like pastor Bobby has said at least a few times, it’s because we were in God’s Word so much and meditating on how we can apply it to our lives! David obviously understood this, because right here he’s telling us that God’s Law (the “Bible” back then) “is perfect, *reviving* to the soul.” Not only does it revive us, however; the statutes of the LORD are trustworthy (true) and wisdom-giving! Do we want to be wise people? Then we need to listen to what God has to say in His Word!
Even more importantly, do we want the revival to continue back here in Southern CA?? It starts with us being in the Bible every day! If we aren’t constantly ingesting and applying God’s truth, nothing is going to happen. Let’s be in His Word (whether here on SotD or not) daily!

  6. Meisha Preston says:

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

This is my prayer for today; not only that my words would glorify and honor God but that also my thoughts would be glorifying. It is a lot easier to control my words than to control my thoughts. But God can see both and if my thoughts are sinful God knows that even if no one else does.

  7. Mike says:

12 Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults.
13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.

David is asking God to keep him away from 2 different types of sins: those he commits without knowing it, and purposeful acts of rebellion against God. Similarly, we may not see all of the sin in our lives, but God does. We need to be asking Him daily to search our hearts and show us areas of ‘hidden’ sin that we did not know we were living in. And like David, we too need to be enlisting the Lord’s help in our struggle to put sin to death in our lives. It is not something we can do alone, but God has made it possible for His children to experience victory over sin. The areas of our life that we realize are at fault, we need to confess to the Lord, and then make every effort to live a holy life that is pleasing to the Lord.

  8. Jenae Naeeee (= says:

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

This is the true prayer of my heart. I want my words and my heart to be pleasing to God!

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

Im praying for the revival to keep going but the only way it will be is if people are reading God’s word and spreading it around!! His word will make us wise and give us the words to say, which will make our words pleasing to him (=

  9. steffen eriksen says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

We can find so much about God from reading and studying the Bible, but we can also see His glory in all of His creation. David writes here that the heavens declare the glory of God and the skies shout out what He has made. Looking around at everything created, it takes so much more faith to believe in evolution than the fact the God created everything. We look around at all the wonders He has made and see how intricate and detailed everything is, and how if so many things were just the slightest bit different things wouldn’t work at all. See His power through His creation should motivate us to praise Him for who He is. I need to be inspired and stand in awe of all of God’s creation. Looking around at how perfectly He has made things, I need to turn to Him in worship and praise. Many great songs talk about the incredible creations of the LORD, as well as I need to thank Him for what He has blessed me with. I need to not take it all for granted, but instead fall down in awe and praise!

  10. Alyssa K says:

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.

10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.

God is perfect and therefore his qualities are reviving water to our parched souls. He is the perfect remedy for us when we have needs and as He sustains us within, He is far better than any temporary, material object such as pure gold. I think we should always keep in mind that temporary happiness, no matter how great, fades with things like the taste of honey, but with anything done through the Lord, joy (aka: more like permanent happiness from within) can be attained.

    9. The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.

    10. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.”

These verses say it ALL. God is MAGESTIC AND MIGHTY AND THERE IS NO COMPARISON TO HIM. Anything He does is pure including His fear. I love EVERY SINGLE VERSE. It’s amazing! =)

  12. Jessica K says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

One of my teachers used to quote this verse a lot so I have it memorized, plus I think it’s in a song. I love the meaning though. It’s true we so often forget to marvel at the fingerprints of God left in every part of creation. Every person who does not believe cannot simply look at the wonders like the midnight sky and say “Oh, that just happened by chance.” That bothers me. God needs to be given the glory for everything. His mark and existence are clear throughout our world, but first we must be aware and second we must appreciate it.

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

It is true that God’s law is perfect, making it hard to follow, but we must follow him because He “revives the soul.” I love that His statutes “make wise the simple” because the humble and simple Christians will be exalted in Heaven. We must not be self-righteous, but humble in our faith. Also, if we follow God’s precepts, He will bless us with joy. Joy is one of the greatest feelings. Happiness can be an illusion, but joy comes from deep within.

  13. Cameron says:

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

this verse contains to very important things. the first is that the law of the Lord is perfect, and it revives the soul. it is common today that people when they are feeling down in the dumps listen to music to get them happier. but here we learn that is the the Word of God that revives our soul. it is the Word of God that we should turn to in our times of distress.

secondly the statutes of the Lord are what makes the simple wise. the wisest person in the eyes of the world is more foolish than the newbie Christian because the new Christian fears the Lord, and the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. if we read the Bible, we will gain knowledge of God and His Law, and we will become aware of our sin and live holier lives. the more we read the Bible, the better it is for our spiritual lives!

  14. melissa says:

9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever.

When I read this verse, I realized that I don’t actually FEAR God. I just think of Him as a loving, caring God who loves everything. I definitely need to fear God more, because He is the most powerful thing in the universe. He can do anything.

  15. Elise says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. 3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.

What an awesome Psalm! I love how God uses his creation to show us only a small slice of his glory. I also love that the awesomeness of His glory gives nobody an excuse to not see God! Once I heard a man speak about knowing about God even though he was living in a remote village in South America. He said he saw a creator because he saw a beautiful creation. I thought that was so awesome and this psalm shows me that this is how God planned it! His creation shows us a little about Him. I can’t wait to stand in his presence and behold his FULL glory! Maranatha!

  16. 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

How true is that! I love how when we look around at creation we see the glory of God! I am always more in awe of God everytime I see a sunset, a snow capped mountain, an ocean wave, and the list goes on…why? Because He made it all and they shout forth His glory!!

  17. Tanner says:

    ELLO… I read

I like verse 13,”Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.”

I like this verse because it tells of what we call willful sins. These are the sins that we do daily and don’t even think twice about the effect they have on us. If we didn’t have these in our lives then we would be not as sinful I’m not saying we would be perfect its just we wouldn’t as much without knowing it or giving it a second thought.

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

Bobby has said this multiple times!! Why do people feel so close to God at revival??? Because we are in his word more and more throughout the entire week!! The bible is like a letter written from God to all of us…it gives us perfect instruction on how we should be living our lives and reveals who God is!! Why wouldn’t you want to read it?! This verse encouraged me to go back to studying Jeremiah today!! :D

  19. Victoria says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.
4 Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,

for verses 1 and 2 i think that its amazing how earthly things, not only us humans, but ALL of His other creation as well. If you just look aroung at everything the Lord has made, all natural creation…its amazing! its beautiful and its beauty is there for us to look at and praise God for it. All of Gods creation is looking up at Him and praising His Glory. People that are not Chirstians or do not know the Lord dont neccessarily see everything around him as Gods creation. they take it for granted because its “just there” but really for all us Chistians to be able to see Gods Glory shown just a little bit on earth, it is all crying out to Him and people who dont see that dont hear it, because their heart and mind are on other “worldly” things.

  20. kj being kj, 2010 says:

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

God’s Word is perfect, it’s not corrupt and it’s just! The word “reviving” made such a big impact on this word because I remember Revival 09 like almost a month ago and seeing what happened and this verse says the God’s Law makes revival in the soul. God’s Word points out what is wrong with us and if your heart will not be harden then it can be so effective!

9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.

The fear of the Lord will last forever! This is something that I thought is really interesting! That means that we will still have fear for the Lord when we will be with the Lord!

  21. Jesika says:

    Psalm 19:13-
Keep your servant also from willful sin; may they not rule me.
Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.

Even though people are sinful and God knows that about us..but we should try to fight sin away from our soul so that Satan can’t rule us..When we follow God and what he says we will become better people.

  22. Brett *2010* says:

13.) Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
14.) May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

What a great chapter, but these verses definitely stuck out to me when I read them! This is my prayer every day, I want to live a life that is pleasing to God and blameless before Him.

  23. Pastor Bobby says:

Please join me in praying for Revival Remix! Let’s be inviting our friends and pray that many of them will come! Also, please pray for the preaching of God’s Word that it will be powerful and people will get saved!

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul.

Yes, the reason we have Revival every year is because when we are away at camp we spend more time in the Bible than any other. Some of you have already quoted me as to saying that. Also, think about the kinds of things we hear from Scripture. Often times at Revival we hear hard truths that challenge us. The law is used by God to show us that we don’t measure up to his perfect standard. When we interact with God’s Word we need to be open to the things that convict us and take it to heart where we are in sin. This is where David goes later in the chapter.

12 Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults.

This is something we talked about at Teen Minsiters this week: Being suspicious of ourselves! We need to understand that our sinful nature/flesh is still active, even in those of us who are Christians. And we need to be watching out every day for sin showing up in our lives. This is another reason it is so important for us to be in God’s Word. It will expose the sinful attitudes and actions we are falling into without even knowing it!

  24. JWade says:

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

this verse is my prayer to God. i need to watch my words and my thoughts more carefully. not only do i need to make sure i am not saying sinful words or thinking sinful thoughts but i also need to be making sure that i am talking about God and gogly things and thinking about God and praying continueally. this is my prayer. He is my rock and my redemer, He desserves every part of me and my life.

Like many others have said, at Revival or anytime we are away from distractions and are presented with a bunch of teaching we feel revived because we are constantly in the Word. This verse challenges me to still have that desire to always be in the Word so that my soul will always be revived.
    :)

  26. ~Elizabeth Reeves~ says:

9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.
10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.

When we become Christians, sometimes when our friends see our actions, they think that our Christianity and serving God is just a phase, and it will eventually end. Not according to what David says in these verses. When we are followers of God, we stay followers of God; and if we are just pretending to be Christians around other Chrisitians, and our true actions and thoughts are not of God and for God, He knows. So being a follower of God shouldn’t be a temporary thing, and if you are a true follower of Christ, then your life for him should be eternal.

  27. Kelsey says:

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.

These verses clearly state how righteous and Holy not only God is, but also his commands and his plans for us. We need to be able to let go and stop trying to control our own lives and just trust Him. He has an all-Holy and righteous purpose for us. It is our job to try to follow it. But we need to be doing it our of fear and love for the Lord. We need to follow his commands simply because He asks us to and we need to not doubt them. As this verse says, his commands are “perfect, reviving (our) souls”. We definately want to be revived and we strive to be righteous, so what better way to do that then follow God’s commands.

  28. Lizzie Holt :D says:

13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

I want this to be my prayer every day especially as I move on to high school where temptations are great.

  29. 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

This is such an assuring verse! God’s word, His law, is absolutely perfect. There are no flaws in it at all! Gods word is also completely trustworthy and it never contradicts itself! By reading and knowing God’s word we gain wisdom and are able to grow closer in our personal relationship with Him. Thats why its so important for us to read our Bible every day! So that we can grow closer to God and grow in our wisdom of God.

  30. Gabriel Voris 2010 says:

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

Th e word of God has no flaw, no error. It gives me so much joy when I read the Bible that nothing in that is said in it is false. And as Pastor Bobby already pointed out the Word is by the Lord to show us that we can not compare to the standards of God. It shows us how perfect and holy our God is.

  31. Trembling From Fear of The Lord, B says:

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Personally, this is the one that stood out to me the most. I’ve been struggling with this one lately. My mouth should be pleasing to the Lord always! And most of all, my heart! My heart should always be looking towards the Heavenly kingdom and always meditating on His precepts like Psalm 119 says. mmmmmmmmmmmm But it does feel soooooo good when you’re completely focused on the Lord always! :)

  32. Ben Blakey says:

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul!

I definitely want to echo those who have made the connection between God’s Word and revival! The reason we can get excited about Revival 09 and Revival Remix is because these things focus on and proclaim the Word of God! AND we can also be expecting continual revival if we keep focusing on God’s Word ourselves and proclaiming it to others.

This verse was also personally convicting to me to make sure I am reading and meditating on God’s Word all day everyday! It is the only thing that can keep me revived!

Let’s be praying for Revival: Remix!

  33. Francesca is so thankful for God's mercy! says:

Hey everyone, I like verse 1:

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

God is so amazing! He has created such a beautiful world. Every single day there is something we see that we can praise the LORD for. He deserves to be praised not only when we sing in worship services. Everything in this world shows how incredible our God is!

  34. Max says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.
3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.
4 Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

I absolutely love these verses!! Every time i read them it reminds me of when i was camping on Mt. Palomar. It’s up pretty high there, and at night you have such a clear view of all the stars. Down here in OC you can only see a couple stars, but up on a mountain you have a view without light pollution, fog, smog, and whatever else there is that blocks our view. There are just so many stars in the sky! When i looked up at them, i was filled with awe! There was NO way that all that was just merely an accident. There is no way that someone can look and see those amazing and seemingly infinite amount of stars and not think “there must be a God who made these.” Verse one says that “The heavens declare the glory of God”, and that is such a great way to put it! Just one look takes your breath away. They “proclaim the work of his hands”, their beauty shows how awesome our God is. God made each and every one of them, it’s so amazing just to think about it! Every night the stars are out there, evidence of God the Creator of everything. “There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” David says it so well here. Everyone on earth can see them. They’re a dead giveaway that there is a God! God is so amazing and if someone doesn’t think He exists, tell them to look up!

  35. MG says:

Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults.

I am not always qualified to evaluate myself. Only God is able to discern the motives of my heart and bring to light my hidden transgressions. In psalm 139:23-24 David asks God to search his heart and test him to see if there is any offensive way within him. Today, I want to be praying that God would search me as well, so that I could seek forgiveness for my apparent sins along with those that I may not even be aware of.

  36. Jake says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

This verse reminds me a lot about a line in the songs Cannons and Indescribable. In Cannons it says ” the moon and the stars declare who you are,” and in indescribable the line that says “you placed the stars in the sky and you know them by name.” These descriptions of how great He is and how He created everything is so amazing to me. There is so much detail in all of His creation and if there was just a few small mistakes we would not be able to survive. It is so crazy to think that even the most beautiful moments on earth do not even compare to heaven. Before I became a Christian I just took all the beautiful moments for granted, but now I enjoy those moments and enjoy seeing just a fraction of the glory of God through His creation.

  37. Nachooooooooooo says:

13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

These verses are great because they show what our heart needs to be like. We need to be talking about and thinking about things that bring glory to God. Waging war on sin and striving to please God in everything we do.

  38. P.J. says:

“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.”

This verse is such a great way to summarize this chapter. After seeing God’s glory in it’s various forms across the world, David is in awe of Him and wants his life to please him in everything. He asks him to keep him from willful sins and to forgive him. I want to wake up with this thought, that my words and my heart would please God!

  39. Michelle [maranatha] 2010 says:

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Like Meisha said, this should be our prayer today…but not only today!everyday!Lets make sure that when we speak, no unwholsome words exit our mouths, and no bad thoughts enter our minds. Keep our thoughts fixed on things above and give all of the glory and honor to our Lord God in heaven. Non Christians actually do examine how Christians act, and it would be really cool if we actually walked our talk when we speak about biblical things and Godly things

  41. Jasmine Douglas says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Tonight (still daytime for you guys) I saw the most beautiful sky ever! There must have been over a billion little stars (and shooting stars!). I looked up and the first thing I thought of was our heavenly father and his wonderful creation. I was so so thankful to be able to witness such beauty. What an awesome Creator we have, I want to praise him for that!

  42. Eric Walker: excited for BAPTISM SUNDAY!!! says:

13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Wow! This is such a legit verse. This verse should be our prayer everyday. Every word that we say should be pleasing to God. God really is our rock and our redeemer and will help us if we pray to him and put our trust in him. Lets all pray every day for God to help us to say things that are only pleasing to him and that he would make us his servants and not be ruled by sins but by God. Glory to God!!!!!

  43. hunter 2010 says:

    Max, solid comment!

8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

This verse is so true! God’s teachings and commands are filled with wisdom; when ever I obey Him it brings joy, not only because I obeyed, but also because living by God’s truth is the best way to live. Every command that He has given not only gives Him the glory but also is healthy and good for us! Also, the more we obey Him we begin to see how unbeneficial our disobedience is; revealing to us just how decieved by Satan we are. This encourages me to be obedient and I pray it encourages you too!

  44. laura johnson says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

looking out the window right now and seeing God’s creation and the sky that He created is amazing! All God’s creation is unthinkable like seeing people, the beach, the stars, animals, snow, rain and anything else and how it was all created with a purpose by God! there is no one like Him!

  45. Maddie Nadeau says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

Everywhere i look, i can see goGod! It’s an amazing thing and i am so glad that i can see it all everyday! God is the creator and he is awesome. There is no one like Him, our God who has made all the Earth. :D

  46. 11 By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

This is such a simple verse but it hold such a great eternal truth. So many people choose to reject the gospel in their teen years because they dont want to have to follow a set of rules, and they just wanna be kids. And speaking from someone who has been a Christian for a while, I know the feeling. But at the same time, verses like this gets me thinking, “what is going to matter in the long run?” Keeping God’s laws right now for the 70-80 years we have might not seem super fun, but yu have to have the mindset to where you are always focusing on the reward coming later. We can bond together with other Christians that also want to follow God’s laws and go through it together! Remember the reward coming later skater :)

3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.

when looking around at what surrounds us…trees plants the sky, ocean, ect. God and His majesty is undeniable! God had placed u sin a beauiful enviroment and i cant wait to see how much more amazing heaven will be!

  49. billy morris says:

3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.

This is a great verse because it shows how people from all around the world are praising God, and also how God is all-knowing, and there is nothing that stumps him. He knows all languages, and there is nothing we can hide from God. He knows any thoughts we have and any actions that we think nobody can see.

  50. Jackson Dahl says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

A lot of the time I tend to forget how truely incredible God is, even things you never reallly think about like the sky or trees. His majesty is just so awe-inspiring its hard to belief. Everything that he has created on earth is so amazing, and he says that the Heavens are so much better than what is here! It makes you wonder and realize about how epic Heaven’s going to be!

  51. Nicholas Bonetto says:

I like Psalm 19:14, “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.”

I need to remember that everything I do should be to glorify God, that is why we are here on earth. Pastor Ben said that God shouldn’t be our first priority, He should be our life. I also need to remember to keep myself in a servants level, serving other people and ultimately serving God.

  52. nicolee vanderlaann((: NO COMPROMISE! says:

8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

This verse really hit me. The things that the Lord wants us to do are always the right thing to do. It isn’t always what we want to do, but doing what the Lord wants us to do for him should bring “joy to the heart”. The things that the Lord tells us to do are “radiant”, completely straight forward and have no gray areas. Everything he tells us is black and white.

  53. Nicole Waymire says:

8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

I know that I don’t always remember or think this way, becuase if I did I wouldn’t “forget” to read my Bible when I am too “tired” or “sick.” I think I need to meditate on this. God loves us so much that He gave us His Word to look to and follow all our lives through EVERYTHING. And when we dive into it, we recieve joy in our hearts and light to our eyes!!

Keep up the posting everyone :)

  54. Murphy Danahy says:

11 By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

In David’s day, the way to heaven was to follow his commands as put down in the law of Moses. However, we have a new covenant in Jesus Christ, and that is our way to heaven. However there is still great reward in following GOD’s commands. GOD promises a reward for all that follow him faithfully.

  55. jeremyy??... WATKINS says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

i actually did some note taking about this concept! :- D

Evidence points to an intelligent designer of the cosmos:

-in the last 25 years, scientists have discovered that the existence of intelligent life depends upon an incredibly delicate and complex balance of initial conditions simply given in the big bang itself.
-we now know that life-prohibiting universes are vastly more probable than our life-permitting universe
-the number of seconds in the history of the universe is about 10 to the 18th power, and the number of subatomic particles in the entire universe is said to be about 10 to the 80th power.
-using these numbers, the probability of our solar system being created by an explosion is about
“1 out of 10,000,000,000 to the 124th power”.

jeremy says “true dat” to verse 1 :- D

  56. Spencer Camp says:

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

I want this to define my life! I want my mouth and the meditation of my heart to be a pleasing offering to God, who has shown me so much love. Although even my greatest efforts at righteousness are seeming rags in comparison to the holiness of God, I pray that He would guide the innermost part of my heart to a more holy life, bound to the pursuing of His every path to the glory of God. May the Holy Spirit search my heart, finding the wickedness that dwells within, so that I may turn in repentance and bound my footsteps even closer to God’s. It is an everlasting battle for holiness, but I am willing to fight it, by the power of God!

  57. Beth Lauder back on SOTD for good...thanks to my new Mac!! says:

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. 8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

These verses tell of the wonders of God’s Word. It is perfect, revives the soul, and is trustworthy. God’s Word gives wisdom and brings joy and light to my life. God’s commands are radiant. These verses tell the truth about God’s Word. It is not boring, irrelevant or a out of date. I am drawn to the Bible every day because of the wonderful things it does in my heart and my life. Thank you God for giving us the Bible, which is a treasure of Your Word that we have free access to every day!

  58. Nathan Ortiz says:

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

This verse encourages me to strive to keep God not just my first priority but my life and have my heart and mind thinking about him all day err day.

  59. Allie Moorefield(: says:

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul
The law of the Lord and the Lord are perfect. GOd truly revitalizes our souls! WIthout him, we would be NOTHING! This is also a great psalm, it talks about how Gods Word is necessary and truly amazing. Personally i need to read GOds Word more often. I love going on SOTD because it jsut brings joy to my day. If I read Gods Word every morning, i would be so happy and more in love with the LORd. Gods Word is incredible and is essential in any Christians life.

  60. Zach V. says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.
3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.

I can’t post on SOTD today without posting on these verses. These are the verses I recall way before I became saved which helped me get saved. Even though I always thought I was a Christian I used to have doubts about the truth of the Bible but this verse took me back to the real facts. I understand with these verses. If we look at nature its easy to see how God exists and is working.

  61. Jasmine Wonton 2010 says:

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

God’s law is perfect. A lot of times other people including myself don’t take His commands seriously and take them as suggestions. We can always trust on God’s statues.

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Let that be my prayer. I love all of David’s prayers. They are so passionate and you can tell that he really loves and wants to serve the Lord with all of his heart and keeps praising Him.

I will be praying for revival remix!

  62. Alison says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.
3 There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.

The beauty of nature is God’s general revelation of himself to the entire world. Even really far, remote places can know that God exists without ever laying eyes on a Bible. God is just so evident, everywhere. I just can’t imagine what life will be like after Jesus returns if we have all this beauty now, in a world full of sin and destruction… I bet it will just be indescribably amazing to have eternity with Him. I can’t wait for that- MARANATHA!

  63. Austin 2010 says:

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

Feeling down? Get in God’s Word. Need wisdom? Get in God’s Word. This verse clearly states the power of God’s Law yet we don’t go to it when a situation we’re dealing with can be helped by it. Get in the Word!

  64. the really Austin 2010 says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge

If even the heavens and the skies declare that the Lord is king every day… them why do we have trouble doing it.

  65. Katie Slusher says:

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

On Sunday, Ben told us about Paul’s supreme desire to live for Christ. Paul made the statement in Philippians that “to live is Christ”. This verse in the Psalms reminds me of the attitude that I should have regarding my actions. Rather than merely trying to avoid sinning with my words, I should be thinking how my words and thoughts can please God. I pray that my words and my thoughts are pleasing in the sight of my God!

  66. Christa Blakey says:

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

This is my prayer, that I would be obedient to the Lord and filled with his Word so that from the inside out I would be pleasing to him.

  67. Sara L. says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

No person has an excuse for NOT believing in God. Just by looking into the sky you can see His work…the sun, stars, moon…everything.

10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.

We should not look at the LORD’s commands as inconveniences or anything negative…if His word is truth and this passage says they are “more precious than gold”, I should be ever thankful and joyful for them. It should be something that gets me excited – to follow His commands always.

  68. Mark 2011 says:

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

We should be praying this to God every day!!! At the beginning of the day, we need to ask God to help our mouths only speak words that our pleasing and glorifying to God.

  69. Evan McKee says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

our God is so incredible. it is impossible for the human brain to comprehend the size of space, and God was able to make it all. when I think of the size of space and how much he has made, along with all of the weird things that exist in it, I am amazed by God’s power.

  70. John K says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

I am with Max, who can possibly look up at the stars in the sky at night and deny the existence of the Creator. In a couple of days I am going on a family vacation to Lake Powell in Utah. The lake and the surrounding landscape are so beautiful it makes me stand in awe seeing his creation declaring his glory. The intricate detail and the variety found in nature is mind blowing. Only an infinite and all knowing, powerful God could have created the heavens and the earth. Its absurd to think otherwise. From now on when I look at God’s creation it will give me boldness to evangelize because I am only sharing truth that has been made obvious and plain to all men. Its not my fault if they are choosing to supress the truth.

  71. 14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

May this be true for us all…this really hits hard when you start to think about it…David isn’t merely praying that he would not sin, he is praying that his mouth and heart would be pleasing to God, in the NASB/ESV it says acceptable… In a way this is deeper…it reminds me of when we were reading The Ultimate Priority in Teen Ministers….the book talks about worship and how even if we put our whole heart into worship it still may not be acceptable to the Lord. This goes deeper than not cursing, lieing, coveting, or thinking impure thoughts….this goes into God being please with what we do because it is pure and acceptable in His opinion….I do pray that in all I do I would be worshiping God, and that that would be true worship that is accaptable to Him.

  72. Haley Litz says:

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

This verse is something I have memorized and a prayer of mine. I want my words and my thoughts to be pleasing to God. Not only my words which other people hear, but also my thoughts which only God knows, I want to be pure and blameless that please God who has saved me through His grace!

  73. Riley Hancock says:

God calls us to do what he has told us to do and we should do what he saids.

  74. Chelseaaaaaa says:

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

If we dont declare the glory of God then the heavens and skies will. God doesnt need us we need Him.

  75. Luke Skywalker says:

14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

This should be the ultimate goal of any Christian: to please Jesus. Even our salvation is not works based, this should be our prayer because it really is representative of what the fruit of a Christian walk should like. If our words and meditation are pleasing to God, then other people will be able to see our light and we can be a positive witness for Christ.

  76. Rebekah Foreman says:

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.

God’s Word is perfect no flaws. Amazing everything about God is perfect.

1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

I agree with MAX. How can u not look up in the sky and say look at all He has created. Everything even the land is beautiful and His hands worked on it.
