Psalm 14-15

Psalms 14-15

The Fool Says, There Is No God

To the choirmaster. Of David.

14:1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds,
there is none who does good.

The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man,
to see if there are any who understand,
who seek after God.

They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt;
there is none who does good,
not even one.

Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers
who eat up my people as they eat bread
and do not call upon the Lord?

There they are in great terror,
for God is with the generation of the righteous.
You would shame the plans of the poor,
but the Lord is his refuge.

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When the Lord restores the fortunes of his people,
let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.

Who Shall Dwell on Your Holy Hill?

A Psalm of David.

15:1 O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent?
Who shall dwell on your holy hill?

He who walks blamelessly and does what is right
and speaks truth in his heart;
who does not slander with his tongue
and does no evil to his neighbor,
nor takes up a reproach against his friend;
in whose eyes a vile person is despised,
but who honors those who fear the Lord;
who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
who does not put out his money at interest
and does not take a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things shall never be moved. (ESV)

  1. Dave Hosford, praying for Revival today! says:

Ps 1:1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

Consider this poetic warning about all those who reject the Word, Jesus Christ:

Ps 75:8 In the hand of the LORD is a cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices; he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth drink it down to its very dregs.

I’d rather be called an intolerant legalist who believes in fairy tales by FOOLS than miss out on eternity with Jesus while suffering the wrath of an all powerful God.

Thank You Lord for calling me to repent and trust in You alone. Thank You for considering me holy through Your Son’s blood when I don’t deserve it. Guide me to share Your gospel with another person that You want to save today!

  2. Chelseaaaaaaaaaa says:

3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

How much must it hurt God to look down and what HE created and see people denying and forsaking Him? He created us and most people on this planet dont realize it, or if they do they dont want to accept that there is a higher power than them.

  3. Snowmann is back says:

3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

this sounds a lot like orange county. we need to be constantly praying for a revival and going out witnessing and sharing our testimonies.

  4. steffen eriksen says:

3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

This is a pretty bold statement that not many people actually want to accept as true. But it is the truth! Every single person has turned away from God and living for Him. Everyone has become corrupt, turning to live a life to please themselves as they dwell in pleasure. Not one person does good, not even one. After looking at how underserving we are of anything that is good, yet we see God still gives us good, we need to be so thankful! Because of our sin, we aren’t deserving of anything good, but only eternal punishment for our sins suffering in hell. And since we all turned away, for Christians, it wasn’t us that saved ourselves but God that saved us through sending Jesus Christ as the perfect atoning sacrifice. No one is saved by their power, but only by God’s! And so should Christians be fully relying on God and His strength instead of foolishly depending on their own. I need to first be so thankful for the overflow of good that the LORD blesses me with when I am so undeserving. And secondly I need to be relying on His strength instead of my own. I need to not live by feelings, but live by what God says in His Word!

  5. Hannah says:

1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

Ahhh this is almost frustrating to me….I seriously just don’t understand how people can say, “There is NO God….”…..it doesn’t make sense to me…..Awhile back in TM, we were reading this book called “Future Grace” by John Piper….and it totally confronted me with how my attitude need to change towards a response such as this (There is no God)….that by the mercy and GRACE of God we are saved…(ahhh thank you Lord.) And the people that aren’t saved continue to do what you are doing, which is witnessing…and so on, BUT we really need to have compassion for them! And that was something that really hit me hard…..I think I tend to get really upset when people say, “There is no God” but putting into practice the “compassion” part has made a difference in the way I have confronted situations such as this…..

    and then…
Psalm 15 is awesome cause it really shows us how we can live this “blameless” life that is pleasing to God. How it starts with, “1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?” and continues to show us how our walk with the Lord can be Holy before God…..and ends with, “………He who does these things will never be shaken.” Ahh I love that last verse….it’s sooo encouraging! Love it![:

    God is good.

  6. Elise says:

4 Will evildoers never learn— those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the LORD ?
5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.
6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.

After reading these verses all I can think of is “I’m so glad I’m on God’s team!!”. Evildoers [defined in v. 4] are “overwhelmed with dread” because of the fact that they don’t have God on their team. They do not have a refuge like we do. Before I became a Christian, I remember feeling that dread v. 5 is talking about. I realized that THOSE people had God, but I did not; and it terrified me. Now, the Lord has transformed from someone who hates me and my sin to someone who is my refuge. How thankful I am!

  7. Natalie Cannavo says:

15:2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart 3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman,………

THis is a great reminder of how God expects us to be if we are CHristians. We are to be godly and follow these instructions so that people may see what we do and want to glorify God too.

14:3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

Steffen is so right about this verse! It is a bold statement and could scare people, who don’t understand it, off. But God has with held his can of wrath on us even though we do wrong. He shows us his love everyday and is good to us all the time. That makes me think, if He does that for us everyday, then I should most definitely try to return the blessings!

  8. Lizzie Holt :D says:

14:3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

Like Steffen said, this one is a biggy. NONE of us have done ANY good in the eyes of God and we have ALL fallen short of His glory. We cannot rely on our strength alone. It all has to come from GOD. We should all know this especially as believers. I often struggled with it a lot more than I do now because now I’m saved and I really have no choice but to put all my trust in HIm and what an amazing difference it has made. :D

    Praise to God!!

  9. Billy Morris says:

Psalms 15 2-5: 2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart 3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman,4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,5 who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.

This is a long passage, but it really does hold so much truth. If a non christian look at these rules the Lord has set up and expects none of them to be broken, that non christian would think no way!! Ya, it is really hard not to have any slander on our tounges, but the Lord will give us strength and although we will not be perfect, because no man is, we will make a concious effort not to break his rules, and he will be pleased.

  10. PaYt :] says:

Psalm 14:6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.

What happened to all the Christians? Why does evil conquer our hearts? Why do we let it? WE NEED TO stay strong! The LORD is our rock and we need to look to Him in our time of need. Don’t lose the battle against sin. HATE SIN, for the LORD HATES sin also. Run to the LORD in your time of need. Never lose hope. Stay strong in HIM! SO that the evildoers cannot win the battle of our hearts.

Psalm 15:4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,

Fear the LORD. Put your hope in HIM and never lose heart.
OATH: the form of words in which such a statement or promise is made (found on dictionary.com) We need to promise our hearts to GOD, for He promised HIS never ending LOVE to us. But we also cannot break our promise with GOD. FOR HE has NEVER broken one of HIS promises. :]

    ***STAY STRONG IN THE LORD!!!***

  11. Nathan Ortiz says:

2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

God is always watching us and even when there is no one around he is always there and when he sees us we should be serving or glorifying him. We need to be evangelizing at our high schools and praying for a revival

  12. Alyssa K says:

2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart

3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman,

4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,

5 who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.

All of this describes someone who can resist temptation to sin and who is perfect. Although we are not perfect, we must try our best to follow these ways; we should keep in mind that even if you feel no one else witnesses/knows of your actions, God does. I also think that it’s important to not just try to follow these ways when around non-Christians but especially around fellow Christians because we need to treat our neighbor with kindness and be humble.

  13. Meisha Preston says:

Psalm 15 is one of my favorite psalms. It tells us how to live the Christian life. I want to live in God’s sanctuary and dwell on his holy hill. I want to sit as close to Jesus as I can in the kingdom to come. What stood out to me was that of the criteria to dwell with God three of them have to do with the way I speak:

    1. Speaks truth from the heart
    2. No slander on his tongue
    3. Casts no slur on his fellow man

The way I talk shows the true me. Matthew 12:34 says, “For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.” In this Psalm David says you have to speak truth from the heart. The only way to speak truth from the heart is if I have truth in my heart. Today, I’m going to watch the way I speak and make sure that it is honoring to God, that I don’t slander anyone, but that all my words are encouraging, uplifting, and edifying.

  14. Marissa Ramirez says:

1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

It hurts me when people say there is no God. Some of them are our friends and someday I would like to see them in heaven and not where they are heading right now. It my be rough tryng to help someone out, but hey who said it was going to be easy.
In Psalm 15 I like how it says the way we should live and act. Watching the way we speek to people and the words we use. I know sometimes I could use a nicer tone towards my parnets. Sorry I have not been to any of the church events recently. I have been having some injuries on the field and fighting a cold. Hopefully I’ll feel better soon.

  15. Michelle [maranatha] 2010 says:

before i say anything, i just wanted to say how great Bobby’s sermon was last night! It was a great point and the girls in my senior group brought up some excellent points about not relying on our feelings(: Anyways, man, what good chapters!

1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

This is a great reason why we need to be able to prove that there is a God and that the Bible is true! If we dont know how to prove that the Bible is true and that all scripture is God breathed, then how will we get people to even consider opening it? There are manuscripts and scrolls. There is a lot of prophecy that has already come true! There is archeology…you guys, nothing in the Bible contradicts anything that any archeologist has founded! Isnt that so cool? We need to sharpen up on our facts so that we will be prepared for the battle that we are in all of our life!

2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

Can we say that we are one of these people? Yes, we can call ourselves Christians, but we need to be seeking God and really dig into His word!

3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

Although we can be saved, we still are hypocrites when it comes to sin, well duh, everyone sins, right?! Yes, although that is true, we need to be lights in this dark place and we need to be standing out from the nonchristians. But do it with a right heart. Dont do it to gain glory, for God deserves ALL of the glory!

4 Will evildoers never learn— those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the LORD ?

We need to be calling on the Lord in all situations; good and bad. Like Bobby said, dont rely on our feelings. Dont be on an emotional rollercoaster!Understand that Gods love is permanant and unchanging. But dont take that for granted and sin because Gods love is permanent.

5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.

God is present! Last night we had to share some times in our lives where we felt God was present and when people shared, i noticed they were overwhelmed with joy:) When God is present (which is all the time for those who are righteous), then we need to be praising Him for His unfailing love because i know that i definatley dont give God the praise He deserves. So be praising God all the time, thats why He created us!

15:2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart

WOW!that is one pretty high standard to live up to!Obviously only Jesus Christ was the only person who was holy and blameless. Lets at least follow and obey Gods commands so that we can strive to follow the example of Jesus

3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman,

Wow, this is something we do constantly….gossip.maybe even cuss.control ourselves and keep a tight rein on our tounges..

4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,

This is an excellent verse, once again! “who keeps his oath even when it hurts?” umm well im pretty sure i havent for the most part. But that is what is so great about God. He makes a promise and He keeps it! He really is the ONLY reliable person in the history of everything! That is one wonderful trait of God that is so incredible to me. God is not a liar, but he is faithful to His word. Wouldnt it be nice to know someone who is constantly true to their word? Lets make sure we actually do what we say (well, make sure what you say!make sure its glorifying to GOD!)

5 who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.

Ahh, someone who is a giver and not a reciever. Someone who is others-centered. This whole chapter was great…there is a lot i can sharpen up on that God commands me to be. How convicting

7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

This just brought one word to mind: MARANATHA!!

6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.

The world is out to get us christians. David talks a lot about how the evil doers of the world are out to get us and make us fall (spiritually) but there are only two teams: God and the world. In Matthew 10:22 Jesus says that “all men will hate you because of me” But, even though that Jesus says this, He is still our refuge from all men. In Him is our salvation and not by anything of this world or of what can come from it.

  17. 3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

We don’t bring anything to the table when it comes to justification (aka salvation), God does it all! We didn’t seek after Him, we didn’t want Him or desire Him UNTIL the Holy Spirit compelled us and drew us in. This helps me remember that when I am witnessing, I am not responsible to save anybody, I can’t make them repent and put their faith in Him. I need to be responsible with the message, to be the person who sows the seed and then pray and beg the Lord to water it and make it grow, for it is Him who does the work of transformation within the heart alone! That doesn’t mean we don’t get out there and share, but rather it should make us long to share even more because God is working in us, using us, to bring people to Him!

GREAT JOB . . . . . . . NATALIE CANNAVO & FRANCESCA STAGGS FOR POSTING OFTEN!!!!!!! Keep it up girls (a.k.a. friendly reminders)

    Goodmorning everybody . . .

    Beach Night was SUPER . . .

    I read . . .

    Psalm 14 & 15 . . .

“2. He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart

He who does these things will never be shaken.”

As a Christian, I should be modeling my life after all these things listed above. I should strive to not speak evil, to walk blameless and do the right thing. The verse before all of these ones says, “Who is WORTHY of going in the sanctuary of God? To walk on the holy hill?” Well these verses say it all. I need to model and pray to God to help me strive for all these things. That in a crowd of un-holy (non-Christian) people that I would stand out because I did the right thing, or didn’t say that word, or despises a man who does wrong, or FEARS THE LORD.

2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart…

You’re right Michelle. Jesus Christ lived a perfect life and that is the standard for his children. Of course we are human and we aren’t perfect, but we should strive to be more like him each and every day, living a life set apart and obedient to God.
Guys, I just want to add that we are SO blessed to have Pastor Mike and Pastor Bobby at Compass Bible Church. I’m out in Europe right now and it makes me so so so thankful for the messages we get every week back at home. We are truely blessed. Be thankful!! Miss you guys.

    ELLO… I read

I like verse 5,”Who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.”

I like this verse because it tells of what a righteous man should be doing. If everyone in the world was like this verse then we would have no financial problems but since we have greed and desire for more we are always in a problem. If everyone was like this then nothing would be wrong with the economy. But since we sinned we will never have a good leaders who won’t accept bribes. We need to make our focus not on money but on GOD because HE is the only ONE that matters HE is the maker and HE will help us if we need help we do not need money to protect us from the DEVIL.

  22. Cameron says:

Psalm 14 along with Psalm 53 speak great truth about man’s sinful state and our total depravity in sin. as fallen creatures, we cannot even do good. it may be good by the worlds standard, but by God’s (whose standard is the only one that matters) we can do nothing good. the Bible teaches that man is totally depraved in sin, which is why Catholic theology and other works/righteousness faiths can’t earn salvation. the only way we are saved is through grace and Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9). rather than try to earn our own righteousness, we need to trust in God and not our own fallen flesh. only if we repent of our sins and place our trust in Christ can we be reckoned righteous in front of Holy God

  23. jeff Modugno 2010 says:

2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

I like this verse. It reminds me to look at how I am living and see am I seeking God? We as christians need to be lights in the OC and the only way we can do this is to be seeking after God. So lets pray for revival in the OC and at our schools.

  24. Luke Melrose!!!!!! 2010 says:

5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.

6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.

All the eivildoers that are living without Jesus Christ have no hope. I cant even imagine what it would be like for them. For them, they will never find real joy. Only in Jesus Christ will you find real happiness. We have the Lord as our refuge, and we can come to Him in times of trouble.

You read verses 5 and 6, and it is easy to see that there are two sides: The unrighteous, who live thier life full of dread without Jesus Christ, and the righteous, who can live fruitful lives in Christ Jesus…our refuge.

  25. 1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

That is so sad but true. I always wonder how people can be so hard hearted and cold in their refusal to deny that there is a God when there is so much proof and evidence. On evangelism nights if we ask them if they think they would go to heaven or not, all of them say yes because they think they’re a “good” person but the Bible clearly states that no one is good (verse 3) and that our righteousness are like filthy rags compared to God (Isaiah). I feel really heartbroken for those lost people & we need to keep praying for God to soften their hearts and be open to the gospel.

2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

God is looking for people after His own heart. We need to continually seek out God, pray, and evangelize. Especially since we have so much time in the summer, there’s a lot more opportunities to read the Word and draw closer to God.

  26. Austin WILDMAN says:

1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?

2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart

3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman,

4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,

in these two chapters it seems as if the Psalmist as had some answered prayers. Because from some of the previous Psalms it was as if he was wondering what God was doing. But now he understands why God does what he does. THese chapters seem like more of a praise. them the last ones.

  27. Mike says:

6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.

Some false teachers preach that God will protect His people from all earthly trouble. Obviously, this is not true. James 1 makes it clear that we will face trials. God allows bad things to happen to us for a reason; and when they occur, we have a choice as to how to respond. Too often, we try to solve our crises on our own without turning to God. But if He is our refuge – if we truly trust in Him – then we will come before Him with our problems, have faith that He will work things out according to His will, and be resolved to live to bring Him glory no matter what situation we are in.

  28. Matt Crichton says:

1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?

Psalms 15 was a very inspiring chapter. It described how a person should live their life according to God. If I am to be not of this world, this is a great psalm to follow. All that remains is to apply this to my life.

  29. kJ 2010 ;) says:

1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

There are so many people today, called atheist who says there is no God. Let’s see what God thinks about them. He says they are corrupt, that their deeds are vile! I just looked up vile in the dictionary and it says: “repulsive or disgusting, as to the senses or feelings” So God is saying I find what they do to be disgusting, that’s pretty intense if you ask me!

2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.
3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

This shows us how we as humans are bad! In verse 2, it says that God is looking from heaven and He sees that there is not one person (except Christ) who naturally understands Him or seeks Him. We all have turned away, we are all corrupt (we sin a lot) and not person naturally wants to do what is good!

  30. Kelsey says:

1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?
2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart
3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman,

I like the phrase, “speaks the truth from his heart” it shows what kind of speech should be coming from us. Like the passage yesterday said. God hates empty flattery. Whatever we say should come from our hearts and be sincere and meaning full. Everything that comes out of our mouths should all glorify God. And we should be saying i sincerely not just sucking up to someone for something or mocking someone or anything like that. We need to make sure everything we say matches our feelings in our hearts.

  31. ✿tara eddo✿ says:

Psalm 14:7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

This verse shows that true happiness comes from salvation and knowing that God’s love for you is everlasting if you accept him and welcome Jesus into your hearts! I just wish that everyone would realize how amazing it is to be on God’s side! There is NO greater feeling. We should pray for salvation for all we care about, and even our enemies. It breaks my heart to see someone reject God and just continue to live their life. It also breaks my heart to remember how I used to act and that sometimes I don’t acknowledge and appreciate all the good God has given me, which is countless. Remember what God has done for you and live 2 please Him Only!

    ✿God Bless!✿

  32. melissa says:

4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,

keeping a promise when it hurts is really hard to do… i know from personal experience. especially when it will hurt someone you know really well and care for. i do not deserve to live on the Lord’s holy hill. no one does. yet, God is merciful and forgiving. thats why everyone needs to repent of their sins and put their faith in Jesus Christ. so we might be saved from the fiery depths of hell.

  33. ~Elizabeth Reeves~ says:

1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?
2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart
3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman,
5 who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.

As a follower of God, we need to remember these three things when we talk. Not only that, if we want to continue to live for Him and stand firm, these things are huge! This also reminds me of the first memory verse at revival, 1 Corinthians 10:12. These verses also remind me of the entire Psalm the other day when it gave us information on having speech with purpose. So if we remember to have this type of speech as these verses say above, it won’t be easy to fall in your faith!

  34. Ian H. says:

    Psalm 14

3 “All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.”

This is one of the verses that Paul quotes in Romans chapter 3. ALL have sinned. There is NO ONE who does good. NO NOT ONE. This is a good reminder of our fallen, sinful state as human beings. Every single person on this planet is a sinner, and that sin separates us from God because He is holy. Thus, every single person on this planet is born unable to be with God. The ONLY reason we as Christians can come to Him is because of what Jesus has done (like everyone at Camp Compass learned today). And like pastor Bobby taught last night, God loves us regardless of how we feel… in Christ. Only in Christ. Let’s not ever forget that it’s all because of Jesus and what He did! And let’s fully trust and wholly depend on Him!

    Psalm 15

1 “LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?
2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous”

Praise and thank God that in Christ we are seen as completely righteous! If we weren’t, nobody would ever be able to dwell in the sanctuary of the Lord!

  35. Brett *2010* says:

    Psalm 15…

Mmm just like Ian said, praise God that we are seen as pure before Him because of what Christ did for us! But wow, I definitely want my life to emulate exactly what is said in verses 2-5. I’m praying this will be a reality.

  36. Ben Blakey says:

1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

It’s easy to look out at the world and see the fools who deny the existence of God. However, this also hits really close to home for as well. While fools continually deny God in their hearts, every time we act foolishly and sin, we are acting like there is no God!

Because we know God, we should live differently than the ungodly. I’m praying that I will fear the Lord as I live for him today!

  37. Sarah G.! says:

1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?
2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart

We should all strive to be blameless and speak the truth knowing that those who are blameless and righteous get to dwell with the Lord!! The God who sustains us gives us that chance through Jesus Christ!! As Bobby said last night, that’s what love is!! My top priority needs to be focused more on God and less on pleasing people!! As I serve my last day at Camp Compass tomorrow, I want to focus on serving God and not man!! :D

  38. Trembling From Fear of The Lord, B says:

mmmmmmmm I like your name thingy Tyler Moooore, we should be praying to get over 9000 comments on here! haha annnnd michelle, way to study the Word! I’m lovin it! annnd it’s so insightful too! :D

5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.

This verse was just so encouraging to me. God is alllways with us, no matter where we go…I know I forget that sometimes…but then I realized that I should remember that allll the time, especially when I’m evangelizing and it seems that Satan has control over the conversation. I should remember that God is with me when I speak, that He is actually the one speaking through me and I have noooo reason to fear at all. I have God, I should only have a fear of Him and not man. Man should be afraid of me, really not me, but God speaking through me. I think that’s why some people just run away when it comes to talking about God because they fear what will happen to them if we did start talking. God is so powerful, like we learned at Camp Compass on Tuesday, and He has the power to change people’s hearts and make them new again. In kids ministry, we pray for the Mui family that is in China but today she was down here to tell us how they are doing over there! We learned that God is changing people’s hearts, even over there because of our prayers for them. God hears us, God works in us, and God saves. Man better fear this powerful God and dread judgement day if they’re not saved! God save many lives though, and continue to work through us. :)

  39. Brooke Miller says:

2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

God knows and sees everything! We should be saying “MARANATHA” and wanting jesus to come back more than wanting anything else. Its important that we live lives above reproach and lives that glorify God, so that he will be pleased when he comes back!

  40. Allen "Wrench" McAnlis says:

5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.
6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.

People will try and make you slip up and cause you to fall. We must always be aware of those around us who will cause us to sin and stay away from them. A lot of our friends today do not believe in God or claim they know Him but don’t really show it at all. We must be careful when hanging around them. Make sure you are the one being the influence. Our enemies rejoice when they see us fail but they also get frustrated when we are victorious. Put your faith in God and surround yourselves with godly influences so that your enemy will not be able to cause your downfall.

  41. Melissa Cox says:

4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,

Keeps his oath even when it HURTS! It’s sad to note how uncommon this is today. People are constantly making promises they don’t keep. If a promise becomes a hassle, people just decide to forget about it. The Bible says our “yes” should mean yes and our “no” should mean no. We should be so true to our word all the time that we never feel the NEED to make a promise. I want to be a person who speaks truth and follows through with any commitments I make. Psalm 15 makes it clear that this is very important to God.

  42. Murphy Danahy says:

1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

Most of the world does not believe there is a GOD. And of those who do, many do not believe in the correct GOD. And of those who do, many are false Christians. The world is against us, but we have GOD on our side. And he is all we need.

  43. Gabriel Voris 2010 says:

3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

This verse seems to define Orange County in its present state as it is today. So many many people are lost. As it says in the verse, many have turned aside and become completely corrupt. We could help many of the lost by bringing them to Revival Remix on Wednesday next week.

  44. Eric Walker says:

6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.

The Lord truly is a refuge to everyone. He is great and loving and will protect all of us if we put our faith in him and trust in him with everything we do. With God, nothing is impossible. Just like Philippians 4:13, we really can do anything with God standing behind us and guiding us along the way. God is goooood and deserves all of the glory.

  45. Morgannnn=) says:

3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

theere are soo many people we know and where we live around
    are like this..

we need to pray that people find God

  46. Dominic S says:

4 Will evildoers never learn— those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the LORD ?
5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous.

In this verse David is getting frustrated with people that are living in sin and denying God. He is also upset that they are also purposely harming those who do believe in God and follow Him. But he says that God is just and the evildoers will be “overwhelmed with dread” because God is punishing them, but He will be with those who stood up for Him and lived their lives for Him.

  47. Nachooooooooooo says:

2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart.

We need to be constantly evaluating our lives and making sure that we truly are blameless. Not just outwardly but also in our one on one life with God. We need to be above reproach so that people can see that we are really different than the rest of the world.

  48. Riley Hancock says:

2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

we are the men in this we need to be ready for God’s return for us.

2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart

God wants us to speak his word for the unrighteous people in the world.

  49. 2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

Sometimes it is mind boggling to me to think that there is someone out there that knows my every thought, and knows what I do in secret. He knows my heart, and the thing that stood out to me in this verse was the last two words-seek God. I once heard a saying “you are either moving forward in your christian walk or moving backward.” You can’t just stay in one place. My goal from this verse is to always be moving forward-always be learning more-always be glorifying him more. Cuz if im not in my Bible and not attending church regularly, it so obvios the devil is going to hit me with temptations. I need to make sure my goal in all I do is to seek God more. To love him and serve him in ALL I do.

  50. Francesca is so thankful for God's mercy! says:

Hey everyone, i like all of Psalm 15

It is so important to follow what God commands. Without deeds, our faith is useless. We need to know that the only way to heaven is to follow what God says. It says that we need to be blameless in order to get to heaven which we all know is impossible. The only way for us to get to heaven is through Jesus and his death on the cross. Once we have repented, we need to strive for perfection. I need to continue to strive for perfection every single day even though it is hard.

  51. Allie Moorefield(: says:

3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
This is so true. Our world is corrupt and there is so much sin and temptation! Us christians need to spread the gospel and truly repent our sins and ask for forgiveness every day of out lives. God knows every single thought and knows exactly what we are going to think.
5 who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.
He who is righteous and jsut wil never be shaken!
TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL YOUR HEART!

  52. Jackson Dahl says:

3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

I think this is a concept that is hard to grasp for many people. They just want to think that they are a good person and are going to heaven if they go to church. None of us are even close to being without sin. We are not going to get anywhere thinking that we’re fine and we don’t sin. We are so far apart from God, yet what makes his love and mercy so great is that he sent his son to bridge that gap between us and him so that we can be with him forever!!! How awesome is that!

  53. Jenae Naeeee (= says:

Okay i just love all of psalm 15!! It describes what we have to be like to even be in the presence of God and basically “hangout” with him!! He is so amazing and i have to make sure i am always telling the truth (vs 2), watch what comes out of my mouth (vs 3) and make sure im always keeping my promises.

5 who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.

  54. Christopher Eriksen says:

4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,

Hatred is a word that people try not to use because it doesn’t sound very nice, but God truly hates sin. And the Bible says that we need to hate it like God does. I know for me that although my mind will still say sin is wrong, I sometimes become numb to it after seeing it so much and don’t think so much about it or get so angry when I see it. But really, whenever I see sin I should feel disgusted, so I pray that God truly develops a hatred for sin like He has. Hating sin like that will keep me from compromising in even the little areas because I will be better reminded of how offending it is to God. I need to have nothing to do with sin but rather seek righteousness. A good way to do this is by spending my time with Christians where we are actually talking about God and avoiding places where I know I will be tempted.

  55. Haley Litz says:

1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?
2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart

These two psalms go well together. The first talks about the wicked and their way, while the second psalm about the way of the righteous. A Christian living full-out for Christ should have the qualities and characteristics of psalm 15. I like verse two and how it says one’s life must be blameless along with speech. How we live and act and speak come together to show if their is fruit in our lives. I like how it says “who speaks the truth from his heart”. The motivation and the truth in our hearts of what we do and say should reflect Christ. It can’t just be we act one way on the outside but inside we are really thinking something different. That is very hard and something I struggle with because no one knows my true thoughts or intentions, but the Lord. He gives us the strength to withstand that temptation though and provides ways out of it.

  56. Matt Whyte says:

2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart

3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman,

This feels to me to be exactly what Jesus did for his time on this Earth. we should all use this as a guide line for each and every day. this is a perfect example of Gods lovr for us and to know he sent his son and with these morals. it is exactly what i pray for myself each day.

  57. bree siciliani says:

i love the bible and god with all my heart

  58. Laura Johnson says:

    V.4

I like how this verse said, “Even when it hurts” because in trials in life and in our hardest moments if we’re relying on God to strengthen us that shows are faith is real. I want to rely on God anytime, any place and anywhere no matter how many trials come my way.

  59. it's Daniel Yo! says:

1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?
2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart

This verse sets a high standard. I don’t know anyone that could meet this requirement alone, but that’s why God had to send His son. If we could be saved by our works then Jesus’ death was pointless.

  60. Alicia Karlsson says:

who keeps his oath even when it hurts,

A mans word today is tossed around like it is nothing, but here scripture tells us that someone who wants to walk a blameless life will Keep his word even when it hurts. We need to be men and women of our word. This is so important because if we are not keeping our word then we are not trust worthy people, and God makes it so clear the we are to keep our word no matter what. That means if you have made commitment to someone no matter if something better comes along you need to keep that commitment. That means if you tell someone you are going to be posting every day on the SOTD then you need to be posting. We can all make excuses in this life, but some one who’s walk is blameless will be characterized by there word, and this will make the gospel attractive to others. Someone who is flakey and known for not keeping there word will make the gospel unattractive. I think this is a sin that many christians can get caught in because as i said earlier there is no importance on a person keeping there word anymore and therefore it goes overlooked, but I pray that I and anyone who reads this will take to heart the call to keep our word even when it hurts and that we would be characterized as men and women of our word.

  61. Josh Hackett says:

4 Will evildoers never learn— those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the LORD ?

The people of this world dont know that they are doing wrong and they will never learn from their mistakes just like this verse clearly says!
They will always blame other people unless they have Christ then they will start to see the error of their ways!
With God using us as tools in his hand we can go and tell people about the amazing power and Love of Jesus Christ and if its Gods will lead them to a life with him!!!

  62. Evan McKee says:

I like psalm 15 because it tells us how to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord. We need to act like this chapter tells us to if we want to honor our God.

  63. cristina brower says:

2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart
3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman,
4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,
5 who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.

All Christians should strive to live lives that are blameless so that on Judgment Day we can stand pure before the Lord. As we grow in our relationship with the Lord, we develop a desire to live by His standards.

    MARANATHA!

  64. Jacob Antoun 2010 says:

1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”

As many have said, this verse is a blatant reference to the Atheist. I liked Ben’s insightful comment about how this can refer to us as well when we ignore God and his commands. But I think we need to be careful how we approach those who deny God. On a recent evangelism night, I had the opportunity to talk with an atheist for about 2 hours. He had previously talked with another one of our true north evangelizing teams and was very turned off and offended by the language they used with him. They were not gentle or loving in the way that they talked to him. After talking to me he said he would even be up for going to a beach night. The whole point of that little story is that even if people believe there is no God, even if they are fools, we need to talk to them in love, in gentleness, in respect, in kindness, and in compassion. So lets be sly as serpents yet gentle as doves when preaching to those who deny the existence of God. It not only is a better testimony to represent Christ, but also is much more compelling to those who we are trying to witness to!

  65. Spencer Camp says:

1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?

Here we see the truth of our depravity. David says: “All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one”(Psalm 14:3). And in Psalm 15 he also explains that no one may see God without complete and total righteousness. As Pastor Bobby has talked about before this “bad news” is the only reason we have to look forward to the “good news” of Christ. We were dead in our sins and against all hope of a perfect God loving us, he sent His son to die for us so that we could be alive and at peace with God. Nothing is greater than the love that Christ has shown us!

  66. Ashlyn--:) says:

4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,

keepingan oath even when it hurts…it is easy to stick up for something when you are not being teased or in some cases having your life at risk! But if a situation like that comes, will we still stand strong in our faith? i pray to have courage and faith like shadrack daniel ect.!

  67. Shelby says:

2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart

3 and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman,

These things are great things to remind myself to steer away from! I want to live more of a Godly life that is displayed in these verses!

  68. Aubree Calderwood says:

2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

I think it is really sad how so many people separate themselves from God. He has created all they know;He has given them life, family, friends, everything, and yet they turn away from him. I can’t even imagine how the Lord feels seeing that so many people are ungreatful of his sacrifice. Just thinking about this makes me want spread God’s word so more people hearts can be softened to Him. It also makes me want to thank even more God and be more greatful all the time :)

  69. Brad says:

God is present in the company of the righteous.

What a great reminder for us to never feel outnumbered when we are standing up for the truth!

  70. Jacob Upton (first sotd post!!!!!) says:

This verse is often loomad at, well at least by me, with a “passing glance”. When i took the time to actually think about it a couple things stuck out to me…
    1) this verse says towards the end: “even when it hurts” which shows us that we need to put everything that we do for God ahead of what we do and we have to be willing to sacrifice for him.
    2) also in chapter 14 verses 3 and 4 it reminds us of how we are all sinners and have all don wrong and have all at times in our lives commited a that we werent immediately repentful for.
    3) and lastly what stuck out to me it that in chapter 15 it tells us ways of how to not be shaken by the devil and our sin. though we may not be able to accomplish these things in every moment in our lives it gives us a picture of what to strive for in our walk with Christ!

  71. Pastor Bobby says:

I agree with Haley that these two chapters go well together. One is about people who deny God and the others is about people who want to know him.

2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

I love this imagery of God looking down from heaven to see if anyone is seeking him. Psalm 14 makes it clear that no one does seek God. Psalm 53 and Romans 3 say this same thing. In the Bible, God is always seen as the Seeker. Jesus says this is why he came in Luke 19:10, to seek and to save the lost.

I am so thankful to God for seeking me out when I was in my sin.

I also want to be a part of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ so God can use me as he seeks out others.

Let’s bring as many people as we can to Revival Remix so they can hear how God loves them through sending his Son!

  72. kelly causky says:

1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

Isn’t it amazing how many people deny God? We, as Christians, find it ridiculous, but we need to tell them that God is real and alive and we need to tell them why! Let’s show them he is real by living differently and proving by our righteous deeds that God has changed something in us.

  73. Michael Downs says:

The verse that spoke out to me was verse4 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.

That verse means that God can see us when in are in the dark and hide from our sin .

  74. Jake says:

1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

No one does good. Although other people may think we are doing good, it is not good according to God’s standard because we do not live a perfect life. The only reason we are saved is through grace alone, not by works. We are so undeserving of God’s grace and mercy, and we need to praise Him for that everyday.

  75. Luke Skywalker says:

2 He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart

This verse, and mostly all of Psalm 15, is an important reminder that we are to live righteously before God. Even though we can’t be perfect, we should give it our best effort. After all, we should do our best for Jesus. Although he covers our sins, it is important to display the fruit of the Christian walk. This fruit should definitely include walking blamelessly and righteously with God.

“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” Micah 6:8

  76. jordan anderson says:

4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,

Wow..I want to be that person. This is something that we should be striving for each and every day. To keep the Lord’s commands even when it hurts, even when we are having a bad day. We need to remember that the Lord loves us always, and those who obey his Word “will not be shaken”. i love that! to be able to stand firm and have peace in the Lord, is such an amazing thing. I want to strive to be the person that david describing.

  77. P.J. says:

“All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.”

This seems a lot like Orange County. It seems like, as this verse tells us, that practically everyone turns aside to their own ways and away from God’s way. As high schoolers in a world filled with sin, we should be doing our best to evangelize and live a life that makes the gospel ‘attractive’ as Paul wrote. Lord help me to live a life that makes the Gospel look good by my actions, words, and motives!

  78. Katie Slusher says:

4 who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,

I’m convicted by many of the verses in chapter 15. As someone who wants to live a blameless life before the Lord, here’s a list of qualities that should be evident in my life. Verse 4 especially stood out to me as it talks about keeping our oaths even when it hurts. I need to realize how important it is that my yes means yes and that I am diligent to follow through on committments I have made. I want to be dependable and trustworthy so that when I make a commitment, even if it costs me something, I will follow through.

  79. Sara L. says:

6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.

This verse reminded me again of how we are supposed to be lowly servants; we are the poor. The LORD is our refuge, just as David says here.

  80. Alison says:

1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

I know so many people like this… and it breaks my heart. I can’t imagine how hopeless they must feel- this life must be so empty for them! As Christians we are so blessed to have a purpose and clarity of mind. Its important that we never ever give up on them… because you never know when God might use a seed that’s been planted, and an athiest or agnostic may start wondering about the Lord!

  81. Bryan Sonksen says:

    I read…

In these chapters, David is expressing his sorrow for those who reject God. He sees no one around Him that is godly and is willing to receive the Lord. We need to pray for the lost as David does. Sometimes I do not have the heart I should have for those who reject God. I need to pray for and have more of a heart for lost people because if I do not, they may spend an eternity burning in Hell.

  82. John K says:

1 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?

Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through him. Contrary to popular belief all roads do not lead to heaven. In fact unless you repent of your sins and put your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, then hell is your eternal destination. Don’t be foolish and choose 70 years of worldly pleasure over eternity spent with the one true Living God. Choose Wisely

  83. Jeremy says:

He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart

i like this it is very encouraging to just get your self away from sin and not fall into sin and live a holy godly life!!

  84. taylor anderson says:

3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
this verse aplies to the present world becasue it is so corrupt. it seems like everyone has turned aside and no one does good. we as chirstians need to be a light in this dark corrupted world. we need to be goldy examples and evangelize. we need to keep each other accountable and fellowship with ither christians.

  85. Dan Blankenship says:

    Psalm 14 & 15

3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

The world has turned their back to the existence of God and so has become detestable in the sight of the Lord. Without God you are destined to live a vile life that is wicked and unpleasing to the Lord God says that not even one solitary person does good. Not even one! Our only hope is in the salvation that is found in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 53:3 Everyone has turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

a lot of the times i just kinda look quickly over verses like this and think “o well of course i know that i am not perfect” and then just go on with my day. it is hard to belive that anyone on earth actually thinks that they r living a flawless life, but when i thought about this verse i thought about how a lot of times most people will admit they r not perfect like this verse says and then jump on or judge someone for something else that they do. i think that we need to look at this verse and realize that we r all sinners INCLUDING ourselves. how can we sit there and judge everyones elses actions and then just ingnore our own. it seems that we all have enough of our own problems to keep ourselves busy. this is something that i need to work on. i am just as big a sinner as everyone else, but yet so thankful that God will forgive me for it!

  87. Rebekah Foreman says:

1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.

I don’t get how anyone can say there is no God! Urgg!! Those are the people we need to evangalize to and share the Word. Bring them to God and corrupt them with good.
