Hebrews 10

Christ’s Sacrifice Once for All

10:1 For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins? But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said,

“Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired,
but a body have you prepared for me;
in burnt offerings and sin offerings
you have taken no pleasure.
Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God,
as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’”

When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. 10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,

16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them
after those days, declares the Lord:
I will put my laws on their hearts,
and write them on their minds,”

17 then he adds,

“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”

18 Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.

The Full Assurance of Faith

19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. 29 How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.” 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

32 But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, 33 sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. 34 For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one. 35 Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. 37 For,

“Yet a little while,
and the coming one will come and will not delay;
38 but my righteous one shall live by faith,
and if he shrinks back,
my soul has no pleasure in him.”

39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls. (ESV)

  1. Pastor Bobby says:

This is one of my favorite chapters in the book of Hebrews if not the whole Bible!

V19-23 Talk about how we can draw near to God through the blood of Jesus. It is because of him that we can know God in salvation and come to him day after day!

V24-25 – Talk about how important it is that we stay connected with other Christians and encourage each other in the Lord.

V26-31 – Give such a stern warning for those who would fall away from obeying Jesus to live in sin.

But my prayers is that the last verse of the chapter will be true of me and all of us at True North! May we stand firm in the faith to the very end!

39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

  2. Ryan Cox says:

This is (to me) the scariest passage in the Bible, because we all know someone–hopefully not ourselves–who calls himself a Christian, sins deliberately, & then casually says, “well, God’ll forgive me…”. This passage says NO, he won’t necessarily forgive when it’s deliberate, willful action against him, expecting an easy get-out-of-jail-free card. That’s cheapening the grace God’s given. This grace IS free to us, but it is not cheap–it cost the God of the universe his life. May I never take my forgiveness in Christ lightly by deliberately sinning, with an easy, pre-meditated forgiveness prayer in mind as I slap the God of the universe in the face!

  3. Tanner says:

    ELLO… I read

I like verse 12,”But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,”

I like this verse because it talks about JESUS being the one and only sacrifice for sins. JESUS is the only one who can take away our sins. HE is the only one who is perfect and could satisfy GOD’s wrath for the world. HE gave up so much to save us. When HE came here he was hated mocked and killed for doing nothing wrong but everything right. If anyone had a right to complain about being treated poorly for no reason then it was HIM. I never receive anything close to what JESUS did. I need to remember that whenever I suffer that it is nothing compared to JESUS who could have just not come down and save us.

  4. Dave Hosford praying for revival before He comes says:

Heb 10:9 then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. 10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Jesus Christ – completed sacrifice for my sins, all sins. DONE! Hallelujah!!! Now what will be my joyful response today? Lord, fill me with Your Spirit to share the truth with someone today and please come soon!

  5. Sτeƒƒen Eriksen says:

24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,

In other translations this verse instead of saying stir up one another says spur one another on. Stir doesn’t seem to communicate the message as well as spur. A spur was used by cowboys riding horses. When the horse was going the wrong way or doing something bad, the rider would click his heels against the horse with his boots holding a spur on the heel of each of them. The spur didn’t feel good at the moment for the horse, but it made it realize its mistake and correct itself. In the same way, Christian accountability will involve some pain. It isn’t always the easiest thing to tell someone that they are in sin, and it isn’t the easiest thing to hear being told to you either, but, though unpleasant at the moment, a wise man will come to realize how he needed the rebuke and he will be grateful to his friend.

And so I must always be surrounded by Christian friends that will hold me accountable in my daily living. I need to be held accountable both for my fight against sin, as well as how I am doing developing habits of godliness and growing in consistency with them. I know that for me and some of my accountability partners, we have learned from the examples of Daniel Burke and Eric Walker and have thus implemented the rubber band punishment. You take a mental tally every time that you fall into the sins we have talked about in small groups. And for each tally, that is one rubber band flick on the back of the neck. To be honest, it isn’t the mot pleasant feeling thing that I have done. But this accountability has helped me think more about what I’m doing before I do something. I need to always be growing in my faith, and so I must have other people by me to spur me on in my practice of godliness. I need to be willing to kindly rebuke someone when they are in sin, and know that the same friend will do the same to me when I fall int sin!

  6. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

As brothers and sisters in Christ, we should be encouraging one another! It is important to surround yourself with Christians who Love the Lord as much as you do and who genuinely love and care about you! This verse doesn’t say to encourage others “only when you want to,” or “when you feel like it.” It says as you see the day drawing near! I need to be continually building others up and showing that I care about their walk with God and how they are doing spiritually. I think there can always be improvement for encouraging one another, and not only is the other person motivated and encouraged, but so are you! Real and true accountability is so awesome and important!

26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.

These verses are so intense and scary as Ryan mentioned. Yes, our God is a forgiving God, but not if there is sin taking place with the same intentions. It’s especially scary for those who KNOW the truth, agree to it, and feel conviction, but they keep on sinning the same as if it does not matter. Sin matters to God and he hates sin. The Lord takes it seriously, and we should too! In my opinion, God’s wrath and fury of fire does not seem enjoyable to me! I pray that I will evaluate myself to make sure I am right with God and that I am never sinning deliberately and with the same intentions. I want the Lord to be glorified and pleased with all I do. I want to recognize my sin and see it clearly so I can prevent it and work hard to sin less!

  7. Josh Larson says:

26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. after we are christians it is important that we will stop sinning. we will not be able to stop completely but we should be able to greatly reduce the times we do sin because we are living for God. we need to always do what God wants for us and not what we want because if we do what our flesh desires we will sin. i need to work on living totally for God 24/7 all the time so that i will as a result sin less by honoring God.

  8. Stacy Perkins says:

35 Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. 37 For,
    “Yet a little while,
    and the coming one will come and will not delay;
38 but my righteous one shall live by faith,
    and if he shrinks back,
my soul has no pleasure in him.”
39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

I’m a distance runner. Steadfast training is critical to completion of the course, not to mention winning. So passages like this really resonate with me. Sometimes the training hurts, is boring, is something I’m not in the mood for, and even sometimes feels like it’s not even effective, so what’s the point. Gail Carlson has been paramount in drilling it home for me, by way of Christianity through the Partners program, that waxing on and waxing off is crucial in the life of a Christian (PLEASE tell me you understand this Karate Kid reference!!!). And training goes a lot better when you get out with the whole team. NOT when you segment off into clusters of deviants who claim to be part of the team but wanna ditch practice and go to Taco Bell (sorry, Pastor Bobby. But that’s really what some of my teammates would do…). That’s how you fall behind and get taken out by that roaring lion who’s so out to get us if we take even just a single mis-step. STAY WITH THE PACK. STAY THE COARSE. STAY HEALTHY. SHOW UP FOR PRACTICE. DO THE WORK OUTS. EAT RIGHT. REST WELL. BUT COMPETE TO BE THE BEST. All by the Holy Spirit, as unto the Lord.

  9. Cameron says:

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Here we are commanded to hold fast to our hope (in Christ) without wavering. This means that we continually trust in God and His promises for us. Throughout Hebrews there is a theme of not falling away, even towards the end of this chapter. Hebrews makes the point that a true Christian will not fall away because a true Christian will have continual faith; it is not a one time thing. I need to live my life unwavering for Jesus Christ. this means that i need to trust God in EVERYTHING, in big situations and in small ones. For me to live an unwavering life, i need to be constantly witnessing, fighting sin, talking to God in prayer, and reading the Bible!

The second part of this verse gives the reason why we can and should live unwavering. It is because God is faithful! Even when I sin and stumble, God forgives me and picks me back up. When I face a hard temptation and feel all alone, God is faithful. I am so thankful that while I am not faithful, God ALWAYS is. I pray that I would meditate on this verse today, living all out for Jesus Christ! Please Lord help me to be sold out for You, because You are faithful and will never leave me or forsake me!

  10. Trembling with fear from the almighty God, B says:

This chapter is one of those “mmmmmmmm” chapters. Christ says that He is the ultimate sacrifice and there is no need for animal ones, like the Jewish people did. …but that made my head pop up a question, since Jewish people don’t believe that Jesus is the savior, do they still do animal sacrifices? We all sin all the time, so don’t they need that sin offering? Do they still have their Most Holy Place and stuff? I’m just very curious.
BUT YA! Brooke Brooke took the words out of my mouth. It’s SO good to have Christian friends that surround you. Yesterday on facebook, I heard that one of my friends was having a bad day and on that comment, some of my beautiful Godly friends just hit the person up with a bunch of scripture. TOTALLY encouraging for me to see that. It just makes me love my friends more!
Don’t sin deliberately….I pray that I can just stop sinning altogether so that I may glorify Him all the more! MARANATHA! :D

  11. Beth Lauder says:

39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls

What an intense chapter full of so many crucial truths about our faith and God’s judgement of sin. Verse 39 stood out to me because it is my prayer for all of us at True North! We do not want to be like the 2/3 of high schoolers who graduate and leave the church forever. No, we want to be like the 1/3 who persevere to the end of our lives in our faith because we have truly been redeemed. All of us at True North are going to have to stand before God one day to give an account for our lives. Since we hear the Truth preached week after week, we will have no excuse in front of our Creator if we choose to turn from the truth and live a life that is disobedient to God’s Word. The way we can be sure to stay standing is to be in God’s Word, stay connected to Him through prayer, serve Him with our whole heart, and be connected with other believers so we can be accountable to live a life of obedience to God. The call for Christians to persevere is one that is repeated often through out the Bible. It will not be easy, but it is the only way to eternal life. True Christians stay Christians for their whole lives!

  12. Connor T :D says:

    Good Morning!!

    verse 39
” But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls. ”

I am not going to shrink back away from the Lord when He comes. I want to be the first one that goes up to Heaven with Him….. AMEN….that will be a glorious day.

  13. Waiting4Hisplan says:

24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works..

Since we are brothers and sisters in Christ with other people around us, we have to realize that it is *our* duty to keep them on track, to keep them “On Fire” for Him, and stir or spur them towards love and good works. If we hold our friends accountable, they will hold us accountable, and that in itself is a true blessing. We need someone to keep us in check, and according to Hebrews 10:24, it is something we should concentrate on. Making sure that those around us are excited about loving others and doing good works for God. If we lose faith, or even for a day, stray away from God for one reason or another, we want someone to come behind us and remind us how much God loves us and how much THEY love us, and that truthfully, things will only get worse if we don’t have God on our side. It’s sad to see how many teenagers stray away from God in their High School and College years, and I think we need to remember to keep those around us in God’s word and make sure that they do the same for us. There’s a reason God put more than one human on this earth. For curing loneliness and, I believe, to remind each other who our Creator is and how much He *really* cares about us. Let’s stir up one another for God and for His name!

  14. payton :D says:

30 For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.” 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Wow! What a way to start the day! Like I said yesturday, I don’t deserve anything I have, my friends, family, and everything else. God offered me the gift of salvation through His son Jesus. He KILLED His son with His wrath! His son was PERFECT! and I am a sinner! Sometimes I forget how great love is and how much a Father loves His people. There is NOTHING I can do to pay Him back for what He has done. God is os great and I am in awe of Him and need to fear and love Him more! What a great and mighty and merciful God we serve! He could bring His wrath on me and I would go to hell but instead He offers grace! Sometimes it is a little hard to get over that. WOW! Praise the LORD! I want to fall to my knees crying out His name, for He is so great and loving and I would not be here, on this earth, on this day, with these people surrounding me, if it weren’t for Him! He plans everyday and every moment in that day. What and awesome thought. :]

***WHAT AN AMAZING GOD WE SERVE!!!***

  15. Tiffany Chau says:

39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

I pray that God will continue to let me be on fire for Him and that I will not burn out but continue to want to live a life glorifying to Him! This verse is so important because I don’t want to have an inconsistant relationship with God where I am excited to glorify God one day but live my life according to me the next! I pray that I will stay strong in my relationship with Christ untill the end!!

  16. LG says:

26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

This is a way that we can realize if we are Christians or not!!! Reading this verse makes realize that I need to check if there is sin in my life that has been consistent!!!!
    Maranatha

  17. KYLE JOHNSON says:

26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins

After Revival 07′, for once in my life I finally got how the Christian life worked. Well, this verse reminded me of myself because I kept living in sin, but that December of that year I gave up that lifestyle of sin and gave my life to Christ.

  18. Elise says:

14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

The fact that it took only one sacrifice to take away the sins of this world for ALL time is mind-blowing. It shows us that God is so valuable that we can’t even comprehend how glorious He is. His one sacrifice perfected us for all time. By “us” I’m referring to “those who are being sanctified”. The Holy Spirit is the one who pushes Christians through sanctification, and those who don’t have the Holy Spirit are those who are not perfected and purified= not Christians. If God is able to justify all of the sins of this world with one sacrifice, it shows us how gracious He is. There is no one too lost for God to save. I need to keep this in mind when I’m evangelizing. Sometimes I think its not worth bringing up God in the conversation because I don’t think that the person is the ‘right type’ of person to evangelize to. The fact is that God calls us to make disciples of ALL nations, and this verse helps me see that Christ’s sacrifice was enough to justify and sanctify anyone and everyone.

  19. Kyle Dallape says:

14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

I like this verse because it shows the awesome power of God. He made one offering, and though it was a big one, it was still one offering. This offering gave everyone who ever existed and everyone who will exist forgiveness for our sins, and for that I am extremely grateful :)

  20. Alyssa K says:

22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Hmm there were so many good verses in this chapter! These two stood out to me though because I need to constantly be perserving in my faith and hope in the Lord and not wavering. I should always trust in him and his plan for me. I should not let evil influence me, yet daily be in his word so that my soul can be refreshed.

  21. Wow there is so much in this chapter I dont know where to begin…I think it is one of my favorite chapters in the bible.

16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,”

I really see the work of the Holy Spirit in this verse as it is the Holy Spirit who reveals to us the wisdom in the bible. Without the HS we would not understand the things of God. Thank you Jesus for leaving us your spirit when you left this earth that we may know and understand your word and rely on the power of your spirit to share that truth with others.

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

This verse was a great reminder to me of not doubting or wavering just because of my circumstances. I need to hold fast the faith I profess and know that the hope I have is in what is to come. The day when all will be revealed and our hearts will be made complete in Christ. My circumstances are temporary but my faith in Christ is eternal.

26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries

Ok this last verse just send chills down my spine because I have received the knowledge of the truth. Yet if I continue in my sin when I know that it is wrong then the sacrifice that was made on the cross no longer remains it is taken away. Which mean if there is no sacrifice given then I wasn’t a christian to begin with. And all I will have is the expectation of eternal judgement of the LORD God almighty! Thats why it is so important that you are keeping short accounts with God and that when you repent you STOP the sin you were doing before. So if you know that you are sin and yet you know the truth and profess it WATCH OUT because a worse punishment awaits you.
Unfortunately I see this in a lot of HS students who say they are christians but they are living in sin. Whether it be Gossip/Slander, Partying, Dating a non christian, Bitterness, Envy, sexual sin etc…If you see this in your life and you keep on doing it you are in SIN. Its like you know the truth but could care less about it. There is no sacrifice left for you. This should scare you! So if you know you are doing something that is SIN against the almighty God and you are professing to be a christian I plead with you to STOP. I pray that as we all read Hebrews 10 we would really think on whether the lives we live are fake and really we just care about pleasing ourselves or if they are the real deal.

  22. Jasmine says:

24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,

I want to spur on my brothers and sisters in Christ in love and good works. I pray that I can be used by Him to keep encouraging others. I want to keep being connected with other fellow believers so that we will keep on standing firm!

  23. bill says:

39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

This is a good passage because it shows how we need to have spiritual fervour, also that we need to stand up against sin. If somebody does something sinful, we need to stand up and be bold, not just accept it.

  24. Katie Knudsen says:

32 But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings, 33 sometimes being publicly exposed to reproach and affliction, and sometimes being partners with those so treated. 34 For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one.
This reminds me of the suffering and trials christians go through everyday. Even though it can be so hard at times, to me its so rewarding to know I’m standing up for God.Because if you really think about it thats why we are really here on this earth, to make deciples. Its through the hard times that make us stronger. In verse 34 when it says “since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one” they’re talking about Salvation. For example.. if everything is taken from you and you feel you have nothing left, in reality you have EVERYTHING.. aka (salvation!) which is totally awesome! Because when we die thats the only thing that i going to stay with us forever and ever. So don’t ever be ashamed to stand up for Jesus!

  25. ~Elizabeth Reeves~ says:

31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

This has got to be an extermely amazing chapter!! A lot of verses were so good and awesome!! I liked verse nine too because it beautifully sums up a quality of God in that He is someone I need to be fearing. This verse sounds scary too! I cannot just read it in a normal voice either, I pretty much have to read it in a different voice too to get the full effect! Fearing God really is something I need to be doing though. He created the Earth, me and everyone and everything around me! Of course I should fear Him! If I don’t fear Him, how am I supposed to obey and follow Him??

  26. Eric Walker says:

7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God,
as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’”

This is the attitude that I need to work on. I need to be willing to do the Lord’s will no matter what it may be. There have been times when the Lord has put something on my heart to do but it seems to awkward or out of the way and I understand that that is a wrong attitude. I pray that I would be willing to do whatever the Lord puts on my heart, no matter how awkward it may be, and that I would do it willingly with a good attitude.

  27. Emily Knudsen says:

24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,

This is such an encouraging verse! Recently, in small groups we have developed accountability partners. If you dont know what that is its when you have 2 or more friends that keep you accountable. Since we started it i have been so encouraged everyday by them. Just a text saying “im praying for you” can help brighten my day! And i love how this verse says to stir up one another to love and good works. Accountability partners really help with this. But you can also have a close friend that can keep you accountable! Having support from other christians is a big deal!!! And if they are praying for you and you for them and yourself; God hears it all! And with that God will help you in your struggles. Therefore, we can grow in God and encourage others to do the same! :D

  28. angela voris says:

V24-25 – Talk about how important it is that we stay connected with other Christians and encourage each other in the Lord.

This is such a good verse. If we ever try to do anything by ourselves it doesn’t always work. But, when we are together we are stronger. We can encourage eachother as it say, and we an learn from eachother. It is so important when you are a Christian that you have Christian friends whom you can learn from, and two is always better than one.

  29. Kelsey Collins says:

    I loved this chapter!!!

24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

It is so important that in my walk with God that I have people spurring me on. How would I get anywhere with out people there by my side? God commands me, right here in this verse, to have people spur each other on. Sometimes that means not getting anything in return, but that is how true friendship works, like Bobby talked about in winter revival. I also loved how in this verse the author capatalizes ‘the Day’. As Christians we know ‘the Day’ is the day that Christ is coming back. I need to encourage each others on so I’m ready for the Day He returnes!

  30. Joy Talcott says:

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

So much to comment on in this chapter. This verse makes me think of our series Don’t Stop Standing; holding fast without wavering. This implies not getting swayed by the world or enticed by sin. We are holding fast to our hope found in God. God is faithful even when we are faithless! Just as God fulfilled the Messianic prophecies about Christ, He will fulfill His future promises. I want my faith to grow so that I do not waver or doubt God in my life. May True North be a place of No Wavering!

  31. Meisha Preston says:

39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

Don’t stop standing…that’s what this verse is saying. Those who stop standing are destroyed but those that have true repentence and fall will not shrink back and will ultimately be saved. This verse makes me sad for the people I know that have stopped standing. It is clear here that they are not Christians and will be destroyed. This verse is also encouraging to me to keep standing, to make sure that I never waver in my faith.

  32. JWade says:

26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.

there are people that would falsely call this leagalism. this is truth! since Jesus died for us and saved us from our sin and hell why wouldnt we love Him? if we claim to love Him why would we continue doing the very things He saved us from? and when we are saved and are under a new master why would we continue Deliberately sinning? the Christian life is NOT burdomsome. if we truely love God and are truely repentent (wich is a ressponce to loving God) than we will willingly do everything we can to please God.

    MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. Bryan Sonksen says:

    I read…

Verse 26… “For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,”

In this verse, Paul is basically saying that if our actions do not show that we are a Christian, we are not, and that God will not save us from hell. This verse helps me to keep my sin in check everyday because I know that before God, if there is a sin that I keep doing, not even trying to kill it, then no sacrifice for my sins will be left.

  34. Immediately when Jesus took up death on the cross, the curtain, separating the holy place from the holy of holy’s, was torn in two. This was a symbol.

Now in the Old testament it describes the process of ‘meeting with God’, if you’d really want to call it that, because they would only meet with Him once a year in fear of death and judgment, but nonetheless they had a lengthy and detailed process of going before God that I am thankful we don’t have to go through today. It was dreadful because the people were covered in sin, and God hated sin.

Yet through Jesus we are given a relationship with God! He clothes us with his own righteousness and then intercedes for us between us and God. We are seen as righteous before God and then Jesus pleads our case for us to God.

    Jesus is a better priest:
1.) he is perfect and acceptable before God
2.) he sincerely loves us (still a mystery)
    3.) he is God

I am so glad that I can have a relationship with God! Now, I will not shrink back but will hold firm until the end! Hallelujah! For his glory! Maranatha!

  35. Jacob Upton HE>i says:

4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins

This says to me that nothing but Chris’s blood can save us. Also, that nothing on this earth can save us and is useless, so we should focus on Him and Him only in our lives, and nothing in this world.

  36. Bri Beatty says:

18 Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.
24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,

18That god forgives us for when we sin and ask for forgivenes and confess what we have done he is there for us and will forgive us.

19-24 that God sent his son to die on a cross for us so that we may be able to spend time with God and we can see him face to face someday. That we have been warshed and cleaned and made new if we have repented and put faith in God’s word only through the blood that was sheaded on the cross for us by Jesus Christ. We need to hold fast to the word of the Lord that has been preashed to us and we need to have faith in what God has instor for us. That God has a plan for each of his children. We also need to tell others about the love and mercy of our father who is up in heaven.

  37. Murphy Danahy lowly servant of the living GOD says:

    17 then he adds,

“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”

18 Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.

This is such a great promise. GOD says that we will be cleansed through our faith, and that he will not even remember our sins against him. As his children, GOD forgives all, and for that I am grateful.

  38. Allen McAnlis says:

24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

It is important that we as christians are making sure that our brothers and sisters in Christ are maintaing a life dedicated to God. Not only does it bring joy to ourselves for keeping eachother accountable, but when we ourselves are held accountable we know that there are people who truely care. We need to make sure we are doing this daily and that we are meeting with eachother and making sure we are helping eachother in times of trial. It is SO important to keep a strong relationship with other christians not just for their sake but for your own as well.

  39. Gabriel Voris 2010 says:

24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,

As a Christian I need to be constantly encouraging others and spurring them on towards love and good deeds. This is definitely something that I could work on because I do not do this a ton. A lot of the time I am just bringing others down which is not very Christ like. I pray that I would make my life more like this verse and that it would be visible in my life.

  40. 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

God is so good! He is so faithful! And I have such confidence in him. This verse here says lets draw near to God with a TRUE heart… At the end of the day, we can fool people, but never God. He knows our heart, and I want mine to genuinely be committed to him. He is true to his promises and I rest in this every single day! Thank you, Lord for never letting me down <3

  41. Mike says:

39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

I love this verse because it displays rue Christianity. If you are not shrinking back, you are moving forward; in the spiritual battles we find ourselves engaged in every day, there is no simply standing still. Either we are taking ground in our war against sin and our quest to advance the gospel, or we are losing ground, compromising in our faith and running away from the battles – away from Christ – and He will not be pleased with this, as verse 31 makes very clear. At the times when I am tempted to slack off, remain silent, or justify sin, I need to remember this truth, and resolve to throw off everything that hinders in my resolve to boldly live a life above reproach and consumed with Christ.

  42. Katie Slusher says:

36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.

This verse is a huge encouragement! No matter the trial or suffering that I am going through here on earth, I need to press on with endurance remembering what I am to receive. I know that I have not yet been made perfect and will one day dwell in the house of the Lord forever. That is the promise I have been given as his child. Therefore, no matter the circumstance, I endure remembering this promise. I know that once I have accomplished Christ’s will here on earth, he will call me home. May I never lose sight of this precious truth. If I keep my focus on this promise, I will have peace no matter the circumstance.

Romans 8:18 -For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

  43. =) Jeff Modugno 2010 says:

    hebrews 10:10
And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

This verse reminded me of a story that shows us just how much Jesus loves us. A boy had a bird in a cage. He kicked it and threw rocks at it. A Pastor walked by and asked him what he was doing. The boy replied, “I’m just playing with this worthless bird and I’ll probably kill it.” The Pastor asked he could buy it. The boy couldn’t believe someone would want a worthless bird but if the Pastor would give the boy $10.00 the boy was willing to sell it. The Pastor bought the bird and immediately released it. He put the empty cage on his podium that Sunday and told his congregation how he had obtained it. He continued to explain to the congregation that it was like Satan placing worthless humans in a cage and Satan poked the worthless humans. Jesus came by and desired to save the humans from evil but Jesus had to give his life for them because they were sinful and God can’t be around sin. Death was the only sacrifice that would count as a payment. We need to remember to step out of the cage once Christ has freed us. Don’t stay in the cage because that is what you are use to. Step out in faith because we have been set free.

  44. Marissa Ramirez says:

So many verses!!!!! Its hard just to pick one. Well i need to trust the Lord and put my faith in his hands. Knowing that he will do great things for me as long as I stay on task. Also I need to pray to him more when I am in tough times and need that little push in life. I really like this chapter in Hebrews. Excited for the fair tom. and Truth North services this weekend.

  45. Jessica K :D says:

24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

This is so encouragin! :) I need to love everyone and set a good example for non-Christians. Just as this week’s messsage said, you can’t have real love inside you unless it is the love of God. I feel I have grown so much spiritually since I came to True North. I need to continue to spend fellowship with Christians. “bad company corrupts good character.”

  46. Anita says:

36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. 37 For,

    “Yet a little while,
    and the coming one will come and will not delay;
38 but my righteous one shall live by faith,
    and if he shrinks back,
my soul has no pleasure in him.”

    =)

  47. Dominic Scarmardo (Dana!) says:

32 But recall the former days when, after you were enlightened, you endured a hard struggle with sufferings,
35 Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised

This was written to some people about 2000 years ago after Jesus died, but it almost seems like it’s talking straight to me! I remember first committing my life to Christ, and realizing that it would be a really hard road to stay on. I was bombarded with temptations and the hardships of standing up for Christ. But this verse says that I need to keep confidence and endurance so that I can keep with the walk and get my eternal reward because I lived for Him. Lord, help me to stay on this path for You and to constantly grow in the Word and reject sin.

  48. Mark says:

12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.

I like this verse and how it talks about Jesus being the ultimate sacrifice for all sins and is now sitting at the right hand of God in heaven alive in all of us today!!

    MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  49. kelly causky says:

39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

This is such an amazing chapter! I think we can all relate to those days when we get discouraged because things either continue to go wrong, or we build to much confidence in ourselves and our own abilities, instead of trusting in the Lord. Jesus says the first and greatest commandment is to Love the Lord with everything. How can we do that if we don’t even have complete faith in him 24-7?

  50. Morgan Shermanator says:

Wow this chapter is sooo bomb. I could comment on every single verse. But I’ve been thinking about how amazing and awesome God’s forgiveness is lately. I have been worshipping God a lot this week for his forgiveness, so its been on my mind.

    17 then he adds,
“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”
18 Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.
22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

Is anyone with me where they cannot wait till that day when there will be no more fight with sin?! No more temptation? Ahh. But now, when I do sin, boy is it an amazing feeling to know that my sin is paid for. Once and for all-Jesus died so that I could live. All I wanna do is fall on my knees out of thankfulness to Jesus-knowing I did not deserve anything he did for me. I am so humbled thinking about this. My sin is paid for and I did nothing to deserve it! This hope that I can now freely talk to God and live with full hope is so amazing and indescribable. I love the words “sprinkled clean from an evil conscience.” My heart has been transformed-renewd. Lord Jesus thank you for what you did on the cross–and this chapter makes me want to sin less-knowing that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God!

wow great chapter….pray for dana’s campus lunch tomorrow!

  51. DustinA says:

This passage definately inspired me to share verses 26-31 with someone. Wow these verses are very convicting. The first thing i thought of when i read these verses was what if that one on going sin was the one that kept me out of heaven. Now it doesnt seem soo hard to refrain from that sin.

It is always worth it to refrain from sin in the end, even if you think it isnt worth it now. You will gain so much more in Christ by standing firm. This is what i like to think about sin “If you refrain from a sin God will bless you much more than you will gain from that sin.” It is always worth it to refrain from sinning.

  52. Nicholas Bonetto says:

25 “not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

It is so important to have people that can hold you accountable. I can’t try to live the Christian life by myself, I will fail! This verse goes on to say that if I do fall, there is no “sacrifice for sins” left. How easy is it to fall away when you are by yourself? Satan isn’t going around and gently trying to persuade people to sin, Satan is a lion waiting to devour a person into sin! I need a partner to help me strike back at sin, I can’t do it alone.

    !!!MARANATHA!!!

  53. katie baxter says:

22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

love this chapter! i need to always draw near to God with a clean and pure conscience! i need to be confessing my sin daily to a friend and to the Lord. and i should be making sure that i am encouraging my friends too, and helping build them up in the faith. i know how much my christian friends encourage me and i need to be doing the same and being there for them always!

  54. Melissa Cox says:

26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.

One of the scariest sections of verses in the Bible. Anyone who calls themselves a Christian, but deliberately keeps repeating the same sin and assuming that God will just keep forgiving them…these people need to read these verses and realize that God is to be feared! Judgment and fire overcoming them is all they have to look forward to. May God give me the wisdom and the boldness to point these verses out to any friends headed in this direction.

  55. Colin R says:

I just really like how this chapter lays it all out there
for us, in the beggining it tells us how Christ payed the
penalty for us, than it’s sayyng we need to be more Christ
like or his [Jesus] sacrifice was for nothing. This to me really
feels like it’s the essentials to being a Christian. I also like this
verse because it reminds us what will happen to non believers
and motivates me to go share God’s love with everybody!

  56. Summer Staeb says:

31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

When asked what attribute of God is the most important, I’ve heard a lot of people say His love. Though His love is an important aspect in understanding the gospel, we must first understand His justness and holiness. This verse is a clear reminder that the God we serve is to be feared. He is so mighty in power and completely sovereign that we should literally fear the punishment that we deserve because of our sins. I am so thankful that Christ saved me from the wrath of God! Though I don’t have to fear going to hell anymore, I still need to have a fear of how powerful my God is and what He can do to me. My obedience needs to come out of my love and devotion to God because of what He did for me, not out of my fear of being punished. I am praying that I would have this attitude in submitting to God’s commands!

  57. WOW! This chapter is full of so many amazing things for me to take hold to and apply to my life. We should all fear the Lord, and it is something that in the past year i have come to realize. 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Fearing God is so important, and leads us to reverence and awe of Him as well. I need to fear the judgement for my sins, and fear breaking the Lords heart, for it was my sins that nailed Jesus to the cross.
I loved what it said about those who know the word are judged that much more, because we know the word and then sin against it, and we have outraged the Spirit of grace. This goes hand in hand with fearing the Lord. We are held to a higher standard, the perfect standard of Jesus Christ. I will obviously never reach that goal, but it is something i strive for every day. I am so thankful that the Lord sent his son to die for me and to take my place. I am so thankful that when God looks down on me he sees Jesus. 17“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.” I am so thankful that the Lord has saved me and forgiven me and shown me the way of salvation.
I am so encouraged by sotd, and seeing all of the comments, and people reading the Bible. In verses 24 and 25 it says that we ought “to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” This verse in itself is encouraging, thinking about the Day of the Lord drawing near, and it gets me excited to encourage others and love others as Christ loved me!

  58. Never Take David Personal says:

29 How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has spurned the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.” 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

This section seemed to become more and more intense….I do not want to sin against my Lord and I don’t want to see others sin against my God. This last part, verse 31, should really encourage us to be speaking the truth of God to the churched and unchurched kids we know and most importantly teach ourselves to live out God’s law.

  59. T Moore says:

10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.

This is a really good chapter! Jesus died for our sins, so that we don’t have to sacrifice animals for our transgressions. Wouldn’t that be weird if you saw someone sacrifices something like a cow in their backyard? With Christ and God’s forgiveness, we don’t have to worry about that or sacrifice anything to Him and that is just awesome!

  60. Pastor Ben says:

36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.

These Hebrews needed to hear this. There were so many temptations for them give up or go back to their old religious lifestyle.
Christians throughout the ages need to here this. The promise of the future is what brings endurance.
I need to hear this. Whether in my personal life or my ministry, I need endurance to keep trusting the Lord and serving others. So I need to keep my eyes on the promise and press on!

  61. Haley Litz says:

24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

What an awesome chapter!! There is so many good verses in it! These verses stuck out to me because I have been working on encouragement the past 2 weeks. I have been going through a book on encouragement and I see how important it really is! Encouragement isn’t an optional thing for Christians to do for one another but it is crucial!!! As Christians, we need constant encouragement from our family in Christ. That is something we are called to do! With encouragement, it will keep people standing strong and fighting sin and living full out with a zeal for Jesus Christ!

  62. Allie Moorefield says:

definitely one of my favorite chapters i Hebrews!!! Verses 26-31 are my favorite!!

26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. 30 For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people.” 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
When i think about it, it makes no sense at all to continue sinning after receiving the knowledge to stop it. If we continue sinning after we have received the truth, a sacrifice for our sins no longer remains! THat is intense and makes me think about what i know and makes me have the need to distinguish between sin! Not only does a sacrifice no longer exist, we must expect judgement from God! I am scared for that to be judged by the one i live for and love. The punishment for sin is huge and does even compare! THe Lord even says that he will repay for what we have done and that should make us fear the Lord! Verse 31 is so intense saying that it is fearful and terrifying to fall and b punished by the hands of the living God!

I also love verse 22 and 24. It is important for us to remember to draw near with a true, pure heart that lives by faith. Like we talked about at Revival, God is seeking out our heart so we must be open and draw near to him with a genuine, pure heart. They must also be free of evil and sin. Instead we must be filled with pure water, striving to be Gods will and live by faith. Another really important point i verse 24 is to always be encouraging others because the Day is drawing near and we must be ready for it!!!
I will strive to live by faith so i can preserve my soul!
    MARANATHA! (:

  63. Laura Johnson says:

4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

Only the holy blood of Jesus Christ can pay for our sins! People use to rely on animals and use them as their sacrifice for sin, or some people today rely on good deeds but oir sins are only forgiven by the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus and nothing else.

  64. Michaela Adler says:

    Ah this chapter was AMAZING!!
It was so hard to pick just one verse!
But my favorite in this passage had to be verse 17.
    17 then he adds,
“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”

    This is incredible.
God forgets my every sin that I have committed and will commit.
It was all taken care of with the Ultimate Sacrifice!
Ah God is so good and gracious!
His grace abounds forever, and that’s something to really give praise to Him for.
Because He is the ONLY way.
He is the Perfect Sacrifice, and He died for my sins so that I may spend eternity with Him.
And He knows how SO undeserving I am of that.
Yet He loves me enough to give me that grace. That opportunity that I can live my life completely for him.
Accepting His gift was the best decision I’ve ever made, and I’m so excited to thank Him in person for it :)

  65. Jackson Dahl says:

22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

This chapter is packed! I really found these few verses to be extra important. Verse 22 basically talks about how we can be close to God because of what Jesus did for us. He essentially did wash our bodies with pure water and sprinkle our heart’s clean. If it weren’t for Jesus dying on the cross, I wouldn’t even have a hope of knowing God! I am so grateful for God’s incredible love in that he sacrificed his son Jesus for us. Verse 23 is probably my favorite verse out of this whole chapter, and is so encouraging. The Christian life is not an easy one. We will face trials of many kinds if we are truly living all out for Jesus. However, as 1 Peter 1:6-7 and James 1:2 say, we need to rejoice when we face those trials, as we know that it is the Lord testing our faith. Even when things do get very difficult, verse 23 here reminds us of the faithfulness of the Lord, in that he is with us always. I need to make sure I am not anxious about anything, and staying firm in my faith now matter how difficult whatever it is I am going through is. I know that I can trust God will get me through it, and that he will not test me beyond what I can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13). Verses 24 and 25 are all about encouragement. Encouragement is such an amazing thing, as it is SO much better to not live the Christian life alone. It is meant to be lived along side other believers encouraging each other like these two verses talk about. I need to be encouraging my brothers and sisters in Christ to stay out of sin, showing love and doing the will of God like verse 24 says. Secondly, I need to be constantly keeping them accountable, and meeting with my specific accountability partners whenever possible, so that we can keep each other on track. When someone encourages me in a tough time, with something like a verse about God’s faithfulness, or even just that they are praying for me, that makes me feel so much better! I want to be doing these same kinds of things to the Christians around me! We are in this war against sin together, and we need to help each other through it!

  66. josh senger says:

25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

This is a really cool verse. I remember a sermon from a long time ago in true north that had this verse in it and how meeting together is basically church for us these days. And the main thing that stuck out to me was the encouraging part. If there is a time that we just dont feel like going to church or whatever, I need to think about how there may be someone that really needs encouragment that day and I might be the person that God is going to use to do that. If I dont go to chruch or whatever the event is I am robbing someone of the encouragment that they need and I want to always be ready to be used as a tool of God for whatever He wants me to be doing. I am going to work on encouraging other people throughout the day.

  67. It's Daniel Yo! says:

26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,

I remember ryan talking about this at the Aliso small goups and it really stuck with me. It makes me really be concerned with myself, because this verse speaks for itself. I don’t know any specifc way to apply this verse other than to memorize it.

  68. j. watkins says:

very convicting and constructive chapter. It reminded me of some of the verses from 1 john, in how we as christians are unable to live lives of darkness, or sin. sin cannot take a frequent pattern in your life if you call yourself a Christian.

  69. christopheriksen says:

34 For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one.

I pray that I would always have this mindset, being willing to lose anything because I know I have something better in heaven. It’s sad how much I complain about things not going my way on Earth, because it’s petty compared to the joys I will have in Heaven. LORD please give me a heavenly mindset and encourage those I know to stand strong till the end, having faith in you, so that they might have their souls preserved in you.

  70. (Hebrews 10:24-25) 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

One of the most rewarding and fulfilling things in Christianity is to love and encourage others. It is so awesome to see that through accountability to my friends, or them to me, we can grow closer to God and glorify Him. Through encouragement of others I can stir up, or help produce love and good works in my friends lives. Christians are supposed to meet together, thats why we have church every week. Church is an excellent opportunity to see people that I don’t go to school with and I can encourage them in their walk with Christ.

  71. Karsten Klein says:

11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

Jesus loved us so much that he came to earth and lived a perfect life so he could die for us. Jesus died as a single, ultimate, offering so that our sins could be forgiven and we could be presented as perfect infront of God.

  72. Dan Blankenship says:

    Hebrews 10

35 Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.

These two verses really made my heart feel heavy. We know the statistics of high school students who profess Christianity and that only twenty percent will stand firm. I am however greatly encouraged by the solid teaching that our students are receiving here at True North which God will use to his glory. I pray that the students at True North will take advantage of the gift that God has given them so that they may be strengthened. With this great knowledge comes great accountability to God for that knowledge.

Luke 12:48 48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

I have am so thankful for the highly committed participation from so many of our True North students who represent Christ in a powerful way every single day.

Heb 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

  73. For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

That offering was Jesus Christ pouring out his blood and life for our sins. God view us as perfect because of the holy sacrifice. And we as Christians should be sinning less the longer we live. Being Sanctified means becoming Christ like. Christ was perfect and without sin. So if I am becoming Christ like than I am learning to sin less and do the will of the Father more!!!
