Habakkuk’s Prayer
3:1 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, according to Shigionoth.
2 O Lord, I have heard the report of you,
and your work, O Lord, do I fear.
In the midst of the years revive it;
in the midst of the years make it known;
in wrath remember mercy.
3 God came from Teman,
and the Holy One from Mount Paran.
His splendor covered the heavens,
and the earth was full of his praise. Selah
4 His brightness was like the light;
rays flashed from his hand;
and there he veiled his power.
5 Before him went pestilence,
and plague followed at his heels.
6 He stood and measured the earth;
he looked and shook the nations;
then the eternal mountains were scattered;
the everlasting hills sank low.
His were the everlasting ways.
7 I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction;
the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble.
8 Was your wrath against the rivers, O Lord?
Was your anger against the rivers,
or your indignation against the sea,
when you rode on your horses,
on your chariot of salvation?
9 You stripped the sheath from your bow,
calling for many arrows. Selah
You split the earth with rivers.
10 The mountains saw you and writhed;
the raging waters swept on;
the deep gave forth its voice;
it lifted its hands on high.
11 The sun and moon stood still in their place
at the light of your arrows as they sped,
at the flash of your glittering spear.
12 You marched through the earth in fury;
you threshed the nations in anger.
13 You went out for the salvation of your people,
for the salvation of your anointed.
You crushed the head of the house of the wicked,
laying him bare from thigh to neck. Selah
14 You pierced with his own arrows the heads of his warriors,
who came like a whirlwind to scatter me,
rejoicing as if to devour the poor in secret.
15 You trampled the sea with your horses,
the surging of mighty waters.
16 I hear, and my body trembles;
my lips quiver at the sound;
rottenness enters into my bones;
my legs tremble beneath me.
Yet I will quietly wait for the day of trouble
to come upon people who invade us.
Habakkuk Rejoices in the Lord
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. (ESV)

17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
These are some of my favorite verses in the Bible! Like Pastor Ben said last night, life could not get much worse than what Habakkuk is describing. He is describing a situation where there is no food to eat, either plants or animals. But Habakkuk will still rejoice in the Lord! Even in the worst of times I have the hope of my salvation to rejoice in. What can be better than the fact that I’m no longer going to spend eternity in Hell but instead am going to spend eternity in the presence of God??? You can’t get better than that! When life is hard and I’m feeling down I need to remind myself of the gospel and remind myself that God is good and right ALL the time.
AMEN MEISHA! God is good! All the time!
2 O Lord, I have heard the report of you,
and your work, O Lord, do I fear.
In the midst of the years REVIVE it;
in the midst of the years make it known;
in wrath remember mercy.
Help our desires be for you Lord!
Keep us Revived!
Thank you for you mercy!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk knows God is right.
He knows God is good.
He trusts God that He knows best.
That they will eat.
Our reaction should be like Habakkuk’s trusting and REJOICING in God
even in impossible times.
19 GOD, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
GOD IS GOOD…ALL the time!
ALL THE TIME…God is good!
xox
Keeping my group in my prayers, and all the newly saved. :)
Awesome encouragement Beth!
Hab 3:18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Then: Times are really tough – no food or economic activity – for Habakkuk and the God’s people but still he has comfort in God. His only comfort is in God!
Always: our ONLY real comfort is on Christ Jesus, our salvation!
Now: Rejoice, I say rejoice (Phil 4:4-7!!!) Let everyone see us live that way because the Lord is near and we have nothing, REALLY, to be anxious about! Go to God in thankful prayer for who He is and His supernatural peace will guard and encourage us in Christ Jesus!!!
Great comment Mr. Hosford!
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
Habakkuk, in the face of a massive invasion by the Babylonians, still has faith that God will provide him with the strength to endure it. Even when the plants and animals will perish He has confidence in God to keep his faith alive. Just like the deers were able to run around on the sketchy cliffs, Habakkuk would be able to keep faith during the scary times ahead. As Christians we know that God will always be enough for us. No matter how scary or unsure life gets we can rely on the strength of God, and trust Him to give us the faith we need to endure the hardships of life. So when I am tempted to be scared or anxious about the future or current circumstances I am going to pray to God instead of worrying and trusting in my own strength. He can make “my feet like the deer’s”, He has saved me from sin, and has guided me so far in life, so I will trust in His good, just, and sovereign nature!
It really doesn’t matter what we’re going through, what we have to realize is that through everything God is in control (GIIC–Awanaaaaaa!)
Everything that happens is according to plan, and in the end that plan results in the eternal reward of heaven.
So, until then, we should have a reliance and faith that God will not let down or desert his chosen ones. He is perfectly faithful.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
Verses 17- 19 really stood out to me, but especially verse 19. I love how Habakuk is saying in verse 17 even though nothing went as planned or how I wanted it to go, I will still rejoice in you, Lord. Then in verse 19 he says that the reason he is being so cool and calm about nothing going as planned is because he depends on God and He is his strength. Habakuk seems like a really humble dude. It is so cool to see an example of someone whose faith was dramatically tested, yet Habakuk’s faith still rested on God. Last night, I thought it was awesome when Pastor Ben preached about these verses and how our faith can’t wither when our faith is tested. Worry and anxiety are not thing of the Lord and just like Habakuk gave it all up to God, we and need to do that too.
It’s so cool seeing you post so early in the day, Tate!
Awesome comment! :)
MMMMMMM :D
Wooow Tate really great comment! <333
Great comment, I like how you pointed out that Habbkuks faith and calmness came from the Lord because God was his strength.
I really like what you said about how he rejoiced in God even when things didn’t go his way! Most of the time we find our selves mad at God in this situation and only rejoicce in Him when things go our way!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Ok so I was really convicted by Ben’s sermon last night, because this is one of those things that I’m struggling with as a new Christian: being able to trust Him ALL the time. Ben used the analogy “When you get a 5 on your AP Cal exam vs. when you don’t get into the college you want/don’t have enough money for college.” That struck me because grades are super important to me and I thought back and I was like “could I really praise God if I had failed the final?” Another thing I’ve been struggling with is the idea of going back to school and finding a group of Godlier friends. It’s really hard to change your circle of friends, and will I be able to praise God when I lose them? All in all it was a great sermon.
Another verse that hit me was:
10 The mountains saw you and writhed;
the raging waters swept on;
the deep gave forth its voice;
it lifted its hands on high.
“When the mountains saw Him, they writhed”. I had this mental image of a mountain cowering away like a child who hides behind it’s mother’s leg when meeting someone new. “The deep gave forth it’s voice; it lifted its hands on high.” The seas PRAISED Him! That gave me chills to think about! (:
I’m lovin’ your openness, Kyle, and I’m praying you receive God’s strength and promises with peace and joy. I’m also praying for God to bring you new godly friends, so that cutting the sin and sinful liabilities out of your life completely is no daunting task.
STAY STANDING, BUD! By God’s grace, and by growing close to Him and learning Who He is and what pleases and honors Him by going to His Word and reading your Bible EVERY DAY, many times a day!
Kyle wow, that it is awesome to see how the Lord has opened your eyes to his word. I can really see him doing a work in you and your honesty about what you are struggeling with is great because we can know how to be praying for you. :)
Praying for you, Kyle!
Thanks for letting us know how we can pray for you!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk is a great example for us.
Even though nothing is going right for him, he will still praise the Lord.
That’s so inspiring.
I need to be more like Habakkuk.
When times get tough, I can’t sulk and be upset about it and not think of God, but I need to praise Him always, even when things aren’t going my way.
I need to remember, God is good ALL the time, and ALL the time God is good.
I have so much to be thankful and praise Him for, so to be upset for something not going right right now is dumb.
Plus, it’s important to remember all the “bad” stuff is working for good in Gods plan anyways.
God, help me to always be in complete awe of tour work and to always praise you, even when things don’t go as I planned.
9 You stripped the sheath from your bow,
calling for many arrows. Selah
You split the earth with rivers.
10 The mountains saw you and writhed;
the raging waters swept on;
the deep gave forth its voice;
it lifted its hands on high.
11 The sun and moon stood still in their place
at the light of your arrows as they sped,
at the flash of your glittering spear.
God is sooooooo powerful that he can take this world now if he wanted to.
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
This is an awesome verse that Habakkuk finishes off his prayer and the book with! He is basically saying that despite anything in his life goes wrong or not according to his plan, he can still find rejoice and find joy in his salvation in the Lord! I remember Pastor Ben gave and awesome sermon on this in december, about not just being joyful when our life is good, but always being joyful because even if our life is bad, God is good, all the time! (Yeah, there’s a reason we say that, it’s not just something cool to yell! :P) He really is good, all the time, and if we base our joy and happiness on the fact rather than our life which is full of up and downs, we will always have joy! Even with in an tumultuous life, it is so awesome to know that our God is unwavering in his faithfulness!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
This is exactly what Pastor Ben was talking about yesterday night at Beach Night. God is good, all the time! And all the time, God is good! When we look at the situation that Habakkuk is describing, in those times, that would be a person that has nothing to live with. Most people in those days relied heavily upon produce, crop, and livestock. Here the fig tree isn’t ready to give off figs, the vines haven’t produced any fruit, the olives fail to grow, all the harvests of the fields yield nothing to reap, and the livestock aren’t in the barn. This person is basically left without food and produce to eat and without a way to make money and provide for the family. Habakkuk is this man. He is suffering through all of this. Yet he doesn’t let the circumstances allow him to start doubting God. Instead, Habakkuk declares that he will rejoice in the Lord and find joy in his salvation!
Everyone goes through tough times at some point, whether or not it is as bad as what Habakkuk went though right now. Huge temptations try to lead towards secluding yourself from everything in anger and sadness. However, in all of my times of trouble and difficulty, I need to remember that all the time the Lord is good. He is always right. In whatever situation I am going through, I know that the Lord has put me there for a reason. And the very reason might be to grow me. Sterling was telling us yesterday of how we can pray for patience, and then God brings a trial that will test our patience. We can’t just fall down and give up, praying to God that he would get rid of whatever we are going through. Instead, I need to find joy in my troubles. I know that God will be testing me and seeking to grow me more and more. I need to take hard times head on, knowing that God is good all of the time, not just sometimes! And when I am stuck not knowing what to do, I need to fall on my knees in prayer and seek the Lord’s direction!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
I loved what we talked about last night at beach night. Rejoicing in the LORD always even when it is tough for us and knowing that the LORD is always right and I am wrong. Sometimes that is hard because I might want to do something on my own time when I know God wants me to do it now at that moment. Rejoice in the LORD always, and again I say REJOICE.
(v2.b)In the midst of the years revive it;
in the midst of the years make it known;
in wrath remember mercy.
Revival X might be over, but the Revival itslf is never over. if the stuff at camp happened at the highschools of Orange county, eventually God would’ve touched every highschooler. however, time is short; we dont really know when Jesus will come back, but like what pastor mike said at Revival, I have to get as many people as I can before He calls everyone home.
16 I hear, and my body trembles;
my lips quiver at the sound;
rottenness enters into my bones;
my legs tremble beneath me.
Yet I will quietly wait for the day of trouble
to come upon people who invade us.
This is a great verse that shows Habakkuk trusting in God despite his fears of being invaded. After recovering from the shock that the Chaldeans will invade the Israelites, Habakkuk explains that he will wait patiently for that day. Though he doesn’t understand God’s purpose and fears the day of invasion, he understands that God is always right. As we have seen with Habakkuk, God may have me go through some difficult times, but God is using those for his purposes. I need to accept God’s control and worship Him in whatever situation, even if I don’t understand his answer.
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk finds joy in the Lord in the midst of TERRIBLE conditions. He says that he will rejoice in the Lord, even if there is no food in the fields, or if there is no herd in the stalls. In modern language, this means that we need to rejoice in the Lord when there is no money in the bank, or when there is no car in the garage. Because as many have commented and as Pastor Ben preached about last night, God is good at the time, and He is right all of the time. In the senior guys small group Pastor Bobby asked us to raise our hand and share some trials in our lives. After he said something along the lines of “Basically, you all live spoiled, pampered, Orange County lives.” And how true this is! To us, a trial is not getting a good grade on a test or having friends be mad at us. I am not trying to downsize anyone’s trials (for I experience trials like these) but it was really helpful for me to see it in perspective. Habakkuk rejoices in the Lord in the midst of wickedness and judgment. How much more do I need to rejoice in the Lord during my petty trials, and make Him the joy of my life! Why must I and why should I do this? Because God is GOOD ALL THE TIME, and ALL THE TIME God is GOOD!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
I love this! God is good ALL the time, and ALL the time God is good!!! That is definitely a tru fact people! It’s amazing to see that at the end of this chapter Habakkuk still has total joy in the Lord even when things aren’t going as planned. That is a great example for all of us because I think sometimes we try sooo hard to get something how we want it and in the end it resulted differently. But at the end of the day, we sould be thanking God and rejoicing with evrything He has blessed us with. This needs to be my mind set everyday! Even when things do not work out with people when I am trying to evangelize, I need to thank the Lord for that opportunity and just thank him for the words he gave me. THANK YOU LORD FOR EVERYTHING!!!!
praying for REVIVAL!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Wow, it’s amazing how from a little book in the Old Testament about one prophet we can learn so much! Habakkuk truly learned how to trust God in all situations. Even when things were not going the way he wanted, he learned how to trust that the God of the Universe has got it all under control. When I am reminded of God’s complete sovereignty over my life and how completely powerful he is, it makes myself sounds silly to worry about anything. God is so far above us and He created us, so how could he not have it under control? Reading Habakkuk has definitely been an encouragement to me to take trials and worries and turn them into full confidence in the Lord and His perfect will. I want to trust in God’s timing, not my own! I also love how this chapter ends with Habakkuk rejoicing in the Lord. When we trust in the Lord, we have a joy in Him as well! It is my prayer that I would lay all of my anxieties before God, and through that I know that I will have the true peace that will guard my heart and mind through Jesus Christ (Phil. 4:6-7)!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
Habakkuk’s prayer here shows that his full trust is in the Lord. He can rejoice amidst the coming doom because he knows that his faith is in the one, true God who never changes. The list of material disasters he lists in these verses are devastating, even to the point of him possibly starving to death, yet Habakkuk knows he can trust in God, and with that trust comes great joy. Theses are the exact verses I needed to read today! I am in the midst of a trial where it looks like an evil person is going to triumph over me. Now I am reminded that even if the worst case scenario happens in this trial, I can still rejoice in the Lord. He is my rock, He is my True North, and no matter how tough my life gets, no matter how much I don’t understand the pain He allows or cause toward me, I can still rejoice because God truly is good all the time!
v. 16 I hearm and my body trembles; my lips quiver at the sound; rottenness enters into my bones; my legs tremble beneath me. Yet i will quietly wait for the day of trouble to come upon people who invade us.
Despite knowing that God is coming to help them out, to deliever them, Habakkuk must wait for God’s timing. We were talking about how God is always right, meaning his timing is always right, his justice, and just EVERYTHING is right when God does it. Despite seeing his city in despair and knowing that God will soon come for them, Habakkuk is forced to wait for God. We just have to wait until we see heaven just like Habakkuk had to wait to see his city delievered.
[2] O LORD, I have heard the report of you,
and your work, O LORD, do I fear.
In the midst of the years revive it;
in the midst of the years make it known;
in wrath remember mercy.
This verse totally stood out to me because it has the word “REVIVE” in it! Habakkuk is thinking back on the glorious things he has heard of God doing in the past and is praying for God to do more today! This is exactly what I am thinking about this morning! God clearly did a work in many people’s hearts at Revival X! It was awesome to see and it was clear that God was mightily moving among us. And now I am praying that he will do this same kind of work this year at the high schools of Orange County. It would be so awesome for more people to see this! There is nothing better than seeing the glory of God revealed in the salvation of those around you! May we continue to pray for God to revive! It is a work only he can do. Let him here how much all of us at True North want him to do it! Please join me in prayer!
19 GOD, the Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places. To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments.
I like how in this chapter, Habakkuk goes through the might of our God but also covers how loving God is and how he can sustain those who are faithful to Him. I pray that today, I will be thinking about my goal (Jesus) and that I will be a light to others in this world!!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
My prayer is that I could honestly say this like Habakkuk. Whether times are good or bad, God is always good. This is an unchanging truth that will remain through the ups and downs of life. Sometimes like David did in Psalm 103 we need to remind ourselves, even our souls to praise God.
1 Praise the LORD, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits-
3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
There is always something that we can praise God for, even in the worst of circumstances.
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
No matter what we need to rejoice in the Lord! Even when we undergo trials of all sorts we need to be thankful to God. One time i remember a Lady saying to me “How can I be praising God when my mother died? Nothing good came out of that”. Our good is not always the same definition as God’s Good. Even though what he does doesn’t always make sense to us, we need to understand God is always right with no mistakes. He works things together for HIS glory not ours.
Another verse that brings up this topic:
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
I like how this verse is saying that everything this person has a perishing but “yet I will rejoice in the Lord!” As Christians we have every reason to be joyful. God can take away everything and person we know and we should still praise him! Personally for me, I need to take more joy in my salvation and thank God everyday for what he did. I can’t imagine how horrible it would be to burn in hell forever, yet God chose me. I did nothing to become saved. This gives me more than every reason to be rejoicing in the Lord. The fact that God is loving, faithful, all knowing and Lord should make us thankful.
M A R A N A T H A
Great Comment katie we all need to remember that God is always right!!
-Amen
AMEN!!!
God, the Lord, is my strength;
We don’t have our own, and any strength I do have came from Him in the first place. It’s critical that I realize how dependent on God I am. If I think, for example, that I can keep the Revival going on my own, apart from Him, I’m completely fooling myself. Not only does Revival not make sense apart from God, but it’s impossible to generate in our own strength. We need God working to grow us and give us live and make us new. Praise Him for that work that He’s doing in so many even today!
Amen, thanks for being an awsome leader and helping me repent of my sins and giving me the courage to put my life and trust in God.
It’s great to see you on here David!
Habakkuk 3:17-19 Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places.
Verses 17 and 18 are so encouraging, and verse 19 is so comforting!! Habakkuk explained some of the bad things that were going on for him and for Israel in this book, but still, I cant really know how much distress he must have been in. Compared the the small little things I worry about in my life, he must have been going through A LOT more! Yet still, he is rejoicing in God! This shows that he truly trusts that God works all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose! Now if Habakkuk can trust God through what he is going through, how much more should I be trusting God through my small problems in life?! SO much more!! Habukkuk trusted in God because he had faith that a Messiah was coming, but I already know that Jesus Christ has come and conquered all death and sin for me! He has overcome the biggest problem!! I know that when I die I am going to Heaven, what else is there to worry about?? I need to take comfort in God who loved me enough to send His son to die for me!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls,18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Like we learned at beach night last night, God is always right! Verse 17 covers everything that could have possibly gone wrong in the time. Instead of complaining, Habakkuk rejoices in the Lord and takes joy in his salvation that he has in him. I think its awesome that Habakkuk rejoiced even when people on the earth couldn’t see where he was getting his joy from. I want to have the same mindset as Habakkuk, even when everything doesn’t work out the way we want, or if things happen that we think are bad, God is always right even if we don’t understand. God uses everything for good and to glorify him. Praising him and being joyful should constantly be on our minds. Knowing that we have the God of the universe on our side and he only wants the best for us, even if we don’t fully understand his plan. Our God is an awesome right God!!!!
Habakkuk 3: 12-13a
12 You marched through the earth in fury;
you threshed the nations in anger.
13 You went out for the salvation of your people,
for the salvation of your anointed.
Verse 12. Brings me to a place of considering that THIS is what I should be expecting from our holy God Who cannot tolerate sin. And seeing how sinful I am, how could I expect anything but to be met by Him in His threshing anger and furious marching.
Verse 13a. Brings me to a place of considering how grateful I am to have a God of incredible mercy and love, that He might come out for the salvation of ANYone, let alone me. He bought me with His own blood; my life is His…and GLADLY.
This is a great example of how amazing and powerfull our great god is! I love reading things like this because it makes me realize how much a powerfull god loves me. After all the sin i do, over and over and over. He still loves me :)
16 I hear, and my body trembles;
my lips quiver at the sound;
rottenness enters into my bones;
my legs tremble beneath me.
Yet I will quietly wait for the day of trouble
to come upon people who invade us.
I LOVE this word ppicture God gives us. I don’t know about you guys, but I know I for sure have had some SERIOUS enemies come against me since my life was taken over by the good love of Jesus Christ. My body HAS trembled, my lips HAVE quivered, my bones have experienced ROTTENNESS; my legs have trembled beneath me. And to see the FAITH in quietly waiting on the Lord to deliver me from all adversity that comes my way…BEAUTIFUL. This is perhaps my favorite verse today. Absolutely beautiful. Like Jesus on the cross, saying NOTHING, simply and faithfully waiting on God’s time and promise to come and bring salvation.
There is PURPOSE and GOOD that comes in righteous suffering. It is good and bodes well whenwe REMEMBER this truth.
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
These verses are amazing, even in the toughest of times, Habakkuk still praises the Lord. Sometimes its hard to understand why God would put us through a hard time. You think, doesn’t He love me? Why would He do this to me? Of course God loves us, and He wants us to grow to be more like Him, and sometimes (not always) that means trials. Sometimes, we won’t even know why we have to suffer through a trial until we get to Heaven. We just need to remember that God sees the whole picture, and we just see a tiny speck. God knows what’s best for us in the long run, so we need to trust Him in the short run.
Good comment (:
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
Habakkuk puts all his TRUST and hope in God at very BAD situation. (And I am sure he does put his trust in God all the time when things are not so bad too…) Instead of tending to handle things on your own, I would like to pray more in those situations because I know that God is always with me and present here with me and knows precisely what I am going through. I think there is no reason to have a pity party alone with yourself, when you can simply just go to God. So I will try to always have me fullest trust in the Lord God ALMIGHTY ALL-THE-TIME and pray all the time!
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments
This verse stood out to me a lot because God is our strength! After someone that when threw sooo much suffering this is what his final outtake of it all. He kept strong in His faith threw it all which I think would be really hard for me, maybe its cause I’m a baby Christian but I think if I got a huge test like that my faith would die down a little. Verses 17 and 18 were really good too, they are really encouraging! When nothing is going right you still rejoice in the Lord!
nice post (:

in habakkuk 1-2, we learned how to trust IN the Lord, even when life is not going so swell, or things aren’t happening the way we would prefer them to. These things are happening for reasons are human minds can’t comprehend sometimes, because it is for a better and more perfect purpose the Lord has in store for us. Now, in Habakkuk 3, we saw how Habakkuk took these things into action. We read of how Habakkuk is frightened over the things that are soon to take place, yet, in verses 17-19, we see how he will praise the Lord. In dark and terrible times, we should praise the Lord.. let me rephrase that.. In dark and terrible times we NEED to praise the Lord. Without HIm, we are nothing! Turn to HIm in all circumstances and trust His plan and His purposes. For even when things are going well, it’s sometimes easy to drift away from the Lord saying we don’t need Him… let this not be! In ALL things, I will PRAISE the LORD.
great post RYAN! i Like HOw yoU vARieD your CAPitaLiZatioN!
it never siezes to amaze me how great and mighty the Lord is and how truely blessed i am to have been chosen by him! “You crushed the head of the house of the wicked” THAT SHOULD BE ME! i so often take for granted all that the Lord has given to me, my house, my family, my school, MY SALVATION! i think just because i can physically interact with God sometimes that barrier is difficult for me to see past. But through his word and through prayer i am able to talk with God. This life is short, and our human brains cant comprehend eternity but i known and look forward to the day when we will look upon the one WE have pierced and he will wipe away all our tears…sin will be NO MORE. and we will be with the Lord! MARANATHA
TO START THINGS OFF: Thank you so much for the newly designed SOTD website, its amazing & I know it couldn’t have been the easiest thing to create.
Ok, now to Habakkuk:::::
2 O Lord, I have heard the report of you,
and your work, O Lord, do I fear.
In the midst of the years revive it;
in the midst of the years make it known;
in wrath remember mercy.
~~Well verse 2 really stood out to me because it shows that we fear God, (and we should!), also in the 3rd line it says, “in the midst of the years *revive* it.” I love any time I see the word revive or revival, these days. It not only reminds me that I need to be revived by God, but it reminds me of the amazing experience we had at Revival X!!! Habakkuk is a book I have never read, and never really thought I would read..I didn’t think it was that important..but I realize now how much I’ve been missing. In all of the Minor Prophets, for that matter..I remember memorizing the books of the Bible, when I was younger..I never knew what these minor prophets were about, but I didn’t really care. I wish I’d read them earlier. They talk about God, knowing He’s powerful..but yet knowing He’s compassionate and He loves us. I need to remember to fear God, but know that He’ll provide for me, and He really does care for me.
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
~~Well, Pastor Ben referenced this last night at Beach Night, but I didn’t have my bible with me, so I just listened as he read it through..but this morning, as I read it through, it stood out so much more than when I heard it last night. Every word has its own meaning, and every word put together makes this beautiful statement that I want to memorize & never forget! Throughout Habakkuk we’ve heard complaining…and here, at the end of the book, we hear all of the complaints stated and then, “YET I will REJOICE in the Lord, I will take JOY in the God of my salvation..God, the Lord is my STRENGTH.” To me, this is all I really needed to hear. Last night at Beach Night when Pastor Ben was talking about what we do when we are upset or hurt, I was quite honestly, convicted!! I know that when I’m angry or hurting, I go to my room & sit down, take out my phone & call or text a friend. I never go to my room to privately pray with God or read my Bible for comfort! After hearing pastor Ben talk about it&having the small group with Meisha, I don’t ever want to be the girl who goes running to her friend for pity&comfort. I want to go to God & ask for His help. He’s there & always will be. He’s dependable constantly. Thank you Pastor Ben & my small group leaders for opening my eyes to something I needed to see.
great comment Megan!
Thanks :)
In the midst of the years revive it;
in the midst of the years make it known;
in wrath remember mercy.
When Habakkuk talks about reviving “it” He is refering to Gods hand of grace and gentleness because it had not been used lately. The prophet sees God’s wrath with fear and anguish. When he refers to the “midst of the years” he is refering to his punishment of Judah at the hand of the Chaldeans, Habakkuk begged God for the mercy of his people in the coming years. At this time, God was pouring out his wrath on the world of non believers. I am thankful that it isnt me arent you?
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
When Habakkuk talks about the deer’s feet, he is refering to the way that a deer can climb a high mountain without slipping once because of the way it was designed. God gives us that same advantage only we do not climb a literal mountain, but a mountain that is made of our walk with the Lord. The top of the mountain is salvation and we need to take steps in our lives to reach it. The “feet” that God gives us is his word, and his grace. Through following Gods word, you will get wherever you need to be in life. It is truly the greatest treasure map of all time. The treasure is at the top of the mountain, what are you willing to do to get there?
great comment Zach! :)
I enjoyed reading this chapter. Some verses stood out to me. Like verse 19 God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places. To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments
God should be number one in our life. He is my strength that helps me through the day. He is always with us no matter what only if we are a true Christian. He is our rock and solid foundation. We should be so thankful that we have a God that cares for each and everyone of us. He is our strength if we are faithful.
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
this is a great verse because God is the one who has the Universe covered. We need to remind our selves this but God helps us on His time not on our time
God is always right
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Yes!!! I sometimes find it hard to say “God is Good all the time, and all the time God is good”, especially when something happens in my life that is not Good. I liked these verses because it gave a good example of this. And how Habakkuk still rejoices in the Lord,this helps me remember to do that.
Habakkuk 3:18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
In verse 17 it was saying how even though the trees may not bear fruit, and all this bad stuff, here comes verse 18 that says even though all of that is happening, i will rejoice in the Lord. This is exactly what Pastor Ben was talking about last night at Beach Night. At Revival it is easy to say God is good all the time and all the time God is good, but is it easy to say when something bad in your lie is going on like a divorce or something? It is not easy, but even through those times He is still good because amist of what is happening, God is doing something else for your sake. It may just be making you stronger in Him or growing your closer to Him. But everything God does is good and He alone is ALWAYS good!!
Great comment Bobbie! its is important to rejoice in our sufferings!
I absolutely love this chapter! It should inforce the fear of God in everyone, and if it doesn’t well then I don’t know what will! If I were a non- christian i would be really really scared after reading this chapter, but becuase I am this chapter excites me! It motivates me to keep quiet when girls are talking badly about me or to not fight back with my brother and sister, because it is so easy to let your pride get in the way and get revenge on people here on earth. But they will get theirs, I need to remember that when a girl is gossiping about me and I have the chance to say something back to get revenge it is all a test, we are being tested here on earth each and everyday and I want to pass! Because it’s not about this life, it’s all about our eternal life in heaven! MARANATHA!!!
good to see you on sotd :), and great comment too!!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,

19 God, the Lord, is my strength;

These verses are amazing ! Habakkuk should be our role model. Even when things were not going his way he still praised the Lord ! It is so hard to understand that God has a plan for us and He know what He is doing. When you are in a bad situation you never think to praise God for it, and thats exactly what Habakkuk is doing. Verses 17 and 18 are so encouraging ! I have so much to thank Him for that I should be praising Him no matter what. God is good ALL the time and ALL the time God is good!!
Amen girl!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,

19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
Even with all these horrible things that are happening (or going to happen) to Habakkuk and his home, he still rejoices in the Lord and has faith in Him. Here is a great example to live by. When I had a hard time I use to blame God for it and think He was making my life harder just because He could. When I cam to Compass I realized I was blaming Him when I should have been thanking Him. He knew I wasn’t a Chritian like I said I was and He was putting me through those trials so that I would open my eyes and truely seek Him and follow Him. Praise the Lord for His almighty, and ALWAYS right will.
YES Allen, Praise the Lord for his ALWAYS right will.
16 I hear, and my body trembles;
my lips quiver at the sound;
rottenness enters into my bones;
my legs tremble beneath me.
Yet I will quietly wait for the day of trouble
to come upon people who invade us.
He’s basically saying here, while his own body rots and decays, and while his days are coming closer to the end, while he could be doing something to these people, he waits for the Lord. I’ve gotta say I really admire His patience here. Patience is the one thing that I usually have but am slowly running out of. I need to be constantly renewing myself in God so I don’t start flipping out at people.
9 You stripped the sheath from your bow,
calling for many arrows. Selah
You split the earth with rivers.
10 The mountains saw you and writhed;
the raging waters swept on;
the deep gave forth its voice;
it lifted its hands on high.
11 The sun and moon stood still in their place
at the light of your arrows as they sped,
at the flash of your glittering spear.
It is so true that God could do all of this in a blink of an eye and what people dont realize is that the life that you have now doesnt compare to the life that you will have when we are rejoiced with God.
God is powerful, yet He is so awsome!!!!!!!!!
Great to see you commenting on here David! Keep it up! Keep the revival going by getting into God’s Word!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food,the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, 18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Wow it’s so amazing to read that even though Habakkuk was going through so many trials and was despertely in need of help, he still rejoiced in the Lord! Just as Ben was talking about last night, we need to say God is good ALL the time not just when its easy to say. Just as Habakkuk was saying that though he might have nothing and these terrible are happening, it doesnt matter because he had joy in his salvation, and im praying that i will be able to say that more because i know sometimes in situations ill freak out and worry but thats totally wrong, and I need to give it all to Him and have that joy because i know of my salvation!
Great comment!!
YES!! Anabelle so excited and encouraged to see you on SOTD! Keep it up!
great comment annie!!! keep it up!!!! :D
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
At the begging of this book, Habakkuk was confused by God’s ways and didn’t understand His reasons for doing the things He was doing. Now, we get to see God’s awesome power that worked in Habakkuk’s heart because at the end of this book, Habakkuk dosn’t care why God is doing the things He is doing, he is just glad that the Lord is working in his life at all! We see his change all throughout this chapter, when he talks about God’s awesome power and in verse 17 how no matter how bad life is, he will always trust in God and rejoyce in the Lord!
I liked verse 9, “God, the Lord, is my strength”, however because yesterday in 1:11 the unrighteous Chaldeans were described as people “whose strength is their God”. I really liked how this has been flipped since then because it is showing the differences between the righteous and the evil. The righteous, Habakkuk, relies not on the worldly things to find his strength, but the proud and evil people who found strength in themselves and their military weapons and success did rely on worldly things to find their strength.
This comparison reminded me of 2:4 “but the righteous will live by his faith”. The righteous who live by faith are in God’s grace. He loves them and is saving them for His glory and His purpose! However, the evil and unrighteous do not live by faith. Therefore God is against them! This verse is one that we hear consistently and along with “woe to you” and “woe to him”. These types of verses usually mean that someone is declaring judgment against them!
So I need to be thinking daily, do I want God to delcare judgment against me?, or do I want Him to put me in His saving grace and mercy and to use me for His glory? The answer is pretty clear and if I want the second of the two, then I need to find strength in God and live in faith!
Awesome Comment!!!!
Thanks Lucas:)
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk is going to rejoice in the midst of all that is happening. One of the things he is going to take joy in is God of his salvation.
Salvation. This is an amazing gift in which Jesus had to go through so much to give to us. In the end, he was pierced on the cross for our sins, just so we can receive God’s love and mercy through his gift of salvation. I am going to take joy in this!
Even though things might be going bad on this earth, things will never go bad up in heaven. I’m going to take joy in that, I’m going to take joy in the God of my salvation!(:
Wesley! Great to see you on here every day!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
This is a great verse and it is definitely one to memorize! If I memorized this verse, i could use it when i am in a trial or someone close to me is going through something. We all go through trials, but the tricky part is to rejoice while in the trial.
1Peter 1:6-7″In this, you greatly REJOICE, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith-of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire-may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”
Jesus Christ is the key to our salvation and no matter what we go through, we should ALWAYS rejoice and be glad in that. Because we have salvation and we get to spend eternity in Heaven with Jesus Christ! Praise the Lord!!!
MARANATHA!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Rejoicing to the Lord is like talking to God. God loves when we talk to Him. We can talk to God about anything. He will always be there for us whenever we need Him. Phillipians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.We should always rejoice in the Lord juts like this verse says…. REJOICE!
Great Comment!!!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
I am so thankful we went through these verses last night at beach night. Things don’t always seem to happen in the timing that we think wold be best. Even if everything around us fails or doesn’t happen how we think would be best, we are still supposed to rejoice in the Lord and be thankful. Verses like this amaze me because I know how hard it is to rejoice in the Lord when things aren’t going the way we want them to. It is easier to go and complain and become impatient. However, we need to see all things that happen in our lives as an opportunity to praise and thank the Lord for who He is. God’s character never changes and we can find joy in Him during the hard times of our life.
HEY… I read
I like verse 17-19,”Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.”
I like these verses simply because it says when all things are at the peak of being as bad as possible Habakkuk will take joy in the LORD. GOD does everything for us and has a reason wither or not we understand it we must rejoice in the LORD for HE is always right and HE is always AMAZING and PERFECT. HE know all and can do anything. I need to pray that no matter what situation comes along that I will always rejoice in the LORD because HE is always right even if I don’t understand it.
CYA
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
After all Habbakuk had seen and been through his final prayer is one of Praise to the Lord. Time and time again we see in the OT prophets crying out to God pouring out their hearts before him and then a declaration of Praise to him in the end. This is exactly how we need to respond durring trials and trouble. God wants us to come to him and pour out our hearts before him. He knows that this life is tough, but then we are to praise him. Like Pastor been said last night first pray then find your confidence in him and then rejoice! We need to constantly be reminding our selves of who God is. If we know who he is then our confidence will be in him. Psalm 73 sets up this same pattern and is another great verse I run to when life seems out of control or unfair. I love what the psamlist says and this is my prayer!
21 When my heart was grieved
and my spirit embittered,
22 I was senseless and ignorant;
I was a brute beast before you.
23 Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.
24 You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me into glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.
27 Those who are far from you will perish;
you destroy all who are unfaithful to you.
28 But as for me, it is good to be near God.
I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge;
I will tell of all your deeds.
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
I like these verses because Habakkuk sets a great example. His example to me is that even when you are going through hard times you should always rejoice in the Lord and trust in Him because He will always make away out for you.
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Habakkuk rejoices in the Lord even though he is having tough times. He is a good example of how we should be when he have some struggles.
Great Comment!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
God is my salvation and i’m so thaknful! I love the imagery of the deer, it makes me think of the Garden of Eden for some reason. The Lord gives me joy and strength, and it’s only because of Him that i am sustained. I give God the glory for my salvation because i don’t deserve it but He gave it to me anyways!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
God is good ALL THE TIME!!! even when times may be tuff he has a plan and a reason for what is happening so we shall not worry but trust in him!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
we need to focus on Christ all the time, and rejoice in him

19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
verse 18 is one of my favorites in the bible! i am so greatful God saving me at revival! like verse 18..it is only throught God that we are able to wake up every morning and breathe.
12 You marched through the earth in fury;
you threshed the nations in anger.
Habakkuk is talking about the Lord’s wrath on the nations for their transgressions and failed trials. The people that God had called His own sons and daughters had sinned deliberately against Him and because of this He was going to send His wrath to destroy the sinning nations. We must realize that our own sins are terribly great and that we will face the Lord on judgment day with the debt of our sins unless we have repented for them and put all of our faith into Him. The Lord’s grace and mercies are never failing and will cover all our sins and wash them away if we make the decision to give everything up to Him.
this is legit
Yes it is, The Chad :)
16 I hear, and my body trembles;
my lips quiver at the sound;
rottenness enters into my bones;
my legs tremble beneath me.
Yet I will quietly wait for the day of trouble
to come upon people who invade us.
This verse reminded me that God has His own timetable, like Pastor Ben said last night. A lot of times we think we know when something should happen. We like to plan things and be in control of our lives. But God is in control, and His timing is different than ours. I need to rest in the fact that His timing is perfect and will ultimately make us more like Him. God is in control, and I need to be patient and let go of all my worries, realizing that God’s plan for me trumps any plans I could possibly make for myself.
8 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
I really liked this verse because as a christian I can totally relate to it! Lets face it, summer is soon coming to an end. And school is starting, now if your reading this you are probably grumbling at this fact. But the fact is since we are christians we should be excited to be able to have an awesome opportunity to share the gospel with our classmates! I mean think about it! You are with people around your age for about 6 hours, for more than 100 days with so many opportunities to share the gospel!!! It is honestly a great way to evangelize, but what Ive noticed is that a lot of christians dont know how to bring up conversations when wanting to evangelize. One thing I love to do is put bible verses on my binder. Because people always look at it, and always ask me why I have them, its one of the best ways for me to strike up a conversation! But evangelizing doesnt have to start with talking. In fact, it can start by being joyful, just like the verse says. As christians we should have this never ending joy in our lives. Because God has saved us and we now have eternal life, we should be always happy and thankful. When school starts and your joyful, people will wonder why and when they ask you, you can talk about how Jesus saved you! There are so many opportunities to bring up Christ in your daily conversations, but its still summer and it doesnt mean we wait till school to start, we should be bringing people to church and church events! Come on people lets never let the Revival end!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
Emily, I love your passion for the Lord! Those are great ideas :)
16 I hear, and my body trembles;
my lips quiver at the sound;
rottenness enters into my bones;
my legs tremble beneath me.
Yet I will quietly wait for the day of trouble
to come upon people who invade us.
Just like God said to Habakkuk in chapter 2, this verse emphasizes that God will save in His good timing. “If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.” When trouble comes into our lives its so easy to become impatient and complain that God is not working. But here, even though Habakkuk’s lips are quivering in fear of the trouble that is coming upon him, he says he will quietly wait for God to make it right. LORD, I don’t think there has been anything bad enough in my life that has made my lips quiver and make my bones feel like they are rotting within me, yet I so quickly complain about them. Please help me to be still and know that you are God. You have everything working out according to your will and will save me in your good timing. Please help me to patiently wait, trust, and rejoice in my future salvation rather that complain when any miniscule trouble comes my way. Please help me always to remember that God is good, all the time and not question you.
This passage is showing us why we should be fearful of our creator and lord. He put us into the this world and he could take us out in an instant! Im so thankful that God has saved me and i know that im goin to live with Him for eternity in Heaven!!!
Great to see you on here! Praying for you, bro!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
Through all the problems and hardships we have in our lives, we must know that we can take joy in the Lord. We can always turn to Him, He will be there for us always. I know that the things of this world aren’t everlasting like Him, He is the only steadfast, unchanging thing in our lives. Knowing that we have a God who can strengthen us through His love anytime should give us peace. I pray that everyone may turn to God first.
Habakkuk 3:18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Chapter 3 is Habakkuk’s prayer to the Lord. Though this book of the Bible is short, it shows a dramatic change in the prophet Habakkuk. At first, he complains to the Lord, not understanding His ways. His faith is troubled because he questions God’s justice. However, by the end of this book, Habakkuk is a changed man who learned to wait and trust in the Lord. He realized that the things God does are done for a reason. The Lord works out all things to bring glory to himself. Habakkuk, by the end of the book, had a better perspective of God’s justice and sovereign power. Our Lord is so beyond what our minds can even bear to think about. Since we are human, we are always striving to gain knowledge. But God is one thing we will never be able to understand fully! No matter how much we search for understanding, we will never find it. The Lord is an all-powerful being that created not only us, but everything to ever exist. We need to strive to be like what Habakkuk says in verse 18, and find our joy in the Lord. Even when things are going bad, we need to turn to our all-powerful God and rejoice in him because we are already given so much we don’t deserve.
I liked Pastor Ben’s message at Beach Night about God being good “all the time.” Honestly, its a whole lot easier to say that you love the Lord when things are going good for you. But, as it says in Habakkuk, we need to rejoice in the Lord even when everything is going bad or if we are even deprived of the basic necessities of life. This is a lot easier said than done, and only through the strength that God gives us, can we accomplish this. I pray that turning to God in seek of guidance and praising Him will be by first response when bad things come. My prayer is that my faith will not falter and fail when the going gets tough. Struggles on the earth are a test of our faith, as Christians we need to be using hardships as opportunities to grow and strengthen our faith. Our God is so great, and no matter what is going on with OUR lives, we need to continually praise him for His mercy which he has already given us.
2 O Lord, I have heard the report of you,
and your work, O Lord, do I fear.
In the midst of the years revive it;
in the midst of the years make it known;
in wrath remember mercy.
The things that go on in this chapter are intense! I loved the message last night on verses 17 and 18 on how I need to be trusting in God no matter what! I loved verse 2 also because it explains God really well. He is wrathful, but out of His wrath comes mercy. Like the gospel for example! I deserved God’s wrath for being a sinful person, by being tormented forever in Hell, apart from God. But out of His wrath comes mercy. He sent His only son so I don’t have to go through that! That is amazing! God is good, all the time! And all the time, God is good!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
No matter what is going on in our life, God is still to be praised. Ben’s message at beachnight about how God is good all the time even in our trials really spoke to me and I have been thinking about it. The truth is that God is good all the time, if he were only good some of the time, he would not be God. I am encouraged to remember the gift of salvation and God’s goodness when I go through trials and tribulations. So in the words of job, I can always say, blessed be the name of the Lord!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength; he makes my feet like the deer’s; he makes me tread on my high places.
Even though almost everyone has commented on at least one of the verses above, since these verses stuck out to me the most, I’m going to comment on them too! I really loved what Pastor Ben spoke about last night – the Lord is ALWAYS right. When he said the word “always”, I thought “Amen, He is!”, and I’m sure a lot of others thought the same. However, we can say that all we want. But when something really troubling comes upon us, do we still think that? Pastor Ben used the example of parents getting divorced. Now, I have been blessed with two parents who still love each other, but I know that many people have family struggles. Can they say for sure that God is always right, and that they will “rejoice in the Lord” (vs. 18)? Hasn’t there been a time in everyone’s life where they doubted, or questioned God’s sovereignty and control? But then in Romans 8: 28 ( And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,for those who are called according to his purpose.~ESV [Katie Slusher this is for you :) ], it says that everything that happens is for good. GOOD. See, we don’t ALWAYS think that, as Habakkuk says; because we have doubt. But then in James 1:6 it says that one who doubts is like a wave tossed by the sea. There is no reason to doubt because we can “trust in the Lord with all of our heart, mind, and strength.”
Lord, help me and everyone else not to doubt you no matter what the circumstance, but that even if something goes not according to OUR plan, we will trust in YOU and YOUR plan, because that is what’s best for our lives.
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
Okay, this is awesome!! Hes going through a tough situation and coming out of this trial with joy!! What an encouragement. When all things in my life are going wrong or when i dont get what i want, i need to still rejoice in the Lord and know that he’s always RIGHT!!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
Great chapter! After all of the bad things that were said to happen Habakkuk still rejoiced in the Lord! This verse is a great encouragement to me because even when life gets tough, I still need to have all of my trust in the Lord and say that He is good ALL the time. Like we talked about at beach night, it is a lot easier to say that God is good all the time when life is going great and when we are focused on the Lord and not worldly things. When we are down to nothing and we have nothing but God, that is the time when we should be saying God is good all the time and rejoicing in the Lord! Sometimes God sends trials and problems to wake us up and make us realize that we need God and only God and that He is the only one who will satisfy us and fulfill our needs. Verse 19 says, “God, the Lord, is my strength;” and He truly is because we can do nothing without the Lord! God is definitely good All the time and All the time God is good!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
in life we will have trials and things wont go the way we had planned it to be. but the Lord has a plan and most of the time the Lords plan wont turn out the way we want but it is sovereign and always better. so when i am going through trials i need to realize Gods plan is sovereign and i need to trust in it and rejoice in the Lord because im growing in my faith when i trust in him through trials. sometimes its hard to see how the Lord is going to work out trials for his glory but he does every time. during trials i cannot rely on my own strength because i will fail and i wont grow in my faith. i need to rely on the Lords strength to get me through the trial. he is so trustworthy and i need to remember that during hard times.
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
im feeling these verses, this reminds me what Pastor Ben was talking bout last night at beachnight, how we always say “God is good all the time,and all the time God is good” but dowe mean that? iknew i learned a leason from lastnight.Cus iwould only say that if something that iwant happens.But we all have to understand that God is good all the time no matter what. He gives us trails to still see if we are still are for him or not. So what i loved bout verses 18-19 that Habakkuk still was walking and having faith in The Lord and no matter what he still thought that God was good all the time!well he is :)
GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME AND ALL THE TIME GOD IS GOOD!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
In small groups last night, we talked about how needed this was for us to hear right now. We say God is good all the time, but do I always mean that? God IS good ALL the time and He is always right even if I don’t understand! I need to be fully trusting in God no matter what and always take joy in Him even if there are hard things happening! God will provide and He has everything worked out!!
16 I hear, and my body trembles;
my lips quiver at the sound;
rottenness enters into my bones;
my legs tremble beneath me.
Yet I will quietly wait for the day of trouble
to come upon people who invade us.
Habakkuk admits it–he’s scared. His nation is getting judged by God in the form of a Babylonian invasion. He prays to God, admitting his fear, like we should do. But he does something else. He says that he will “quietly wait for the day of trouble to come upon people who invade us,” or in other words, will patiently wait for the Babylonians to get their just desserts.
God promises us that the wicked will be cast down into hell and that they will be punished. But He also promises that they will have their way on earth for a little while, persecuting righteousness and promoting wickedness. I must patiently endure this, not just with a heart that waits for their demise, but with a heart that longs to bring the wicked to Christ before it is too late. Maranatha! Lord come to take the wicked down from their place of pride.
Yes! Great comment Dominic(:
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Great message last night from Pastor Ben! Though sometimes I might not be able to fathom God’s purpose for the difficulties in my life, I can always understand his overarching will because of what’s in the Bible. This verse shows me that even when I don’t understand God’s purpose, I should rejoice and trust nevertheless. Makes me think of a couple different things. First of all, why would I ever presume to truly understand God. How could I, a sinful, fallen human possibly understand God? “How unsearchable are his judgements and how inscrutable his ways?” (Rom. 11:33). Second, since my human understanding comes up way short, I shouldn’t be relying on it anyway; I should always rely on God, as Proverbs 3:5-7 reminds me:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Be not wise in your own eyes.”
I pray that no matter what my circumstances, I will praise God and know in my heart that He is always right, always good.
1 Thes. 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
It’s great to see how Habakkuk is rejoicing even after things collaspse (vs.17) because his joy is in the Lord. I need to take more time to praise and thank God for my salvation!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
This verse is Great because it is exactly what Ben was preaching about yesterday at Beach Night! God is always right and He is always good, so this verse is Habakkuk realizing this and stating that God is good and that no matte what happens in his life he can trust and rejoice in the Lord.
“His splendor covered the heavens,
and the earth was full of his praise.”
What an amazing picture of the whole earth reflecting the glory of the Lord. I especially love the line that says “His splendor covered the heavens”. How I would love right now to be able to glimpse into heaven and see the Lord’s splendor and glory abounding around Him. I await the day when I will see that beautiful sight at last, all I will be able to do and want to do will be to fall on my face and worship the one is more than worthy. I think of God’s breathtaking creation that I have seen on this earth and I am confident that even that is simply nothing compared to seeing Christ and the radiance that perpetually surrounds Him!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Great verse!! I need to continue to rejoice in the Lord as Habakkuk has even after the destruction! I need to praise Him for saving my sins and my soul! Even after hardships, and bad days, I need to still rejoice in the Lord God at all times, and thank Him for my life, and everyone around me, and my relationship with Him! <3
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
God is my strength! Without Him, I would never accomplish anything! I cannot do anything alone; I will always and forever be in need of help from God! He lifts me up to where I need to be, where I can really show the world what I'm made of! GOD IS THE BEST AT ENCOURAGING!! :D I love it!! Praying for another beautiful day, and an even better relationship with my Lord and Savior!! REJOICE!! :D
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
This whole chapter totally showed Gods great and awesome power! It shows how in control he is and how strong and powerful he is! What and amazing God! I like these two verses because they show Habakkuk’s thanksgiving and gratefulness. I need to thank the Lord everyday for what He does for me!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
This is what Pastor Ben was talking about at beach night last night! Which was amazing by the way!! Throughout this chapter Habakkuk is talking about how scared He is of the coming destruction and how he can’t believe it’s going to happen. But then at the end he busts out these two verses about how good God is and how he can trust that no matter the physical despair and difficulty, He has his true joy in the Lord. Then I think about how minor my problems and trials are compared to food supply and lifestyle cut off completely like they were here. If he can still trust in God through that?? I think I can handle some fammily and friend problems..
It also reminded me of how our joy should not be based in things of this world, but our joy should be in God and His word. HE does not fail. His promises always come true and not even one of them hasn’t. Verse 18 says “I will take joy in the God of my salvation.” God, who is so loving and powerful and merciful. How can I not trust in Him?? How can my joy be in this world when I know He saved me and and can see the work He’s done in my life!! This world passes away, God does not. PERIOD.
I pray that God will keep my, and all of our, eyes focused on Him with no distraction. We will trust in Him even in the most dire of circumstances and NOT throw a pity party, but realizing what He is doing and what He has done deserves our praise and love.
MARANATHA!!!!!!!!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
Last night in small groups we talked about how during trials, God is the one we need to be going to first instead of going to our friends to complain or vent or whatever it is. I think it is so easy to go to our friends looking for validation of our feelings or for them to cheer us up, but like this verse said God is the only one who can bring us strength and joy. He should always be the first person we go to, and i know last night and reading this passage again today really made me realize that it is something i need to work on
mmm i love this. you’re really spiritually attractive katie baxter.
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
I’m pretty sure almost everyone commented on these verses, but they did with good reason. These verses are really great. The picture is of Habakkuk just praising God for his goodness. He realizes that even if everything in life sucks, that God is still good to those who truly love him.
and plague followed at his heels.
6 He stood and measured the earth;
he looked and shook the nations;
then the eternal mountains were scattered;
the everlasting hills sank low.
His were the everlasting ways.
These verses shows God’s power. We need to always obey Him because He is our creator and He rules over us. We need to humbly submit to God.
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
These verse show how Habakkuk is giving the glory to God. We need to do the same because He has given us everything we have. Without Him we would be NOTHING!! GIVE THE GLORY TO GOD!!!
2 O Lord, I have heard the report of you,
and your work, O Lord, do I fear.
A lot of the time, i think we all forget how much God is to be feared. When we sin, i think we generally forget that we are disobeying the guy who created the earth and that can end your life as quickly as you got it. After i sin, this normally is what bothers me most. God is so almighty and powerful, but when we disobey Him, he still forgives us. This is something to be praised.
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
Like most of the SOTD people on here today, I love these verses!! They pretty much speak for themselves, GOD speaks for himself. These two verses were the main focus of last night’s Beach Night, but reading the whole chapter today really put it into perspective for me. God is good ALL the time, even when everything seems like it’s going the wrong way, He is still good and we can still take joy in the fact that He just IS. Thank you God, for being holy, and mighty, and GOOD…All the time!
Maranatha!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
What an example to everyone. When the land is famished, when people are dying and EVERYTHING is going wrong in the world, blessed be the name of the Lord! Sometimes I think for me it’s “thank the Lord for friends to vent to!” I know I totally agree with what Katie said…that girls have a huge tendancy to go to their friends after or during a trial. I know I’ve done that. But tis verse says…God is the one that gives refuge and joy! My hope and my ultimate joy should come from him and only him!
3:1 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, according to Shigionoth.
2 O Lord, I have heard the report of you,
and your work, O Lord, do I fear.
In the midst of the years revive it;
in the midst of the years make it known;
in wrath remember mercy.
3 God came from Teman,
and the Holy One from Mount Paran.
His splendor covered the heavens,
and the earth was full of his praise. Selah
4 His brightness was like the light;
rays flashed from his hand;
and there he veiled his power.
5 Before him went pestilence,
and plague followed at his heels.
6 He stood and measured the earth;
he looked and shook the nations;
then the eternal mountains were scattered;
the everlasting hills sank low.
His were the everlasting ways.
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation
In verse 17 Habakkuk said how there was no crop or animals. But right after in verse 18, Habakkuk said that he will rejoice in the Lord and have joy. He was going through a rough time and instead of becoming bitter and angry at God, he was glorifying God. It is a lot easier to say that God is good when life is good. But, when life is tough, how we respond shows how much we trust God.
2 O Lord, I have heard the report of you,
and your work, O Lord, do I fear.
I especially like this verse because I think it applies to me, saying that I have heard the truth of the Lord and all the miracles he has done. I fear the amount of power God has to offer.
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
I think this is saying that even if I see no one believing in the Lord, or any new Christians come about. That i will still have faith in my God and praise him for all he has done.
Great to see you on here, bro!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
I really like how he says “yet” in this verse. Regardless of all that is happening, he is making a choice to focus on God and have joy in him. I am going to be striving more and more to have this same perspective because God is completely trustworthy. Nothing is worth worrying about because God is always good. And nothing is worth getting angry and complaining about because God is always right. All kinds of things might be happening around me that I can’t control or can’t explain, but I can rejoice in the Lord. I’m really thankful for this reminder from beach night and this chapter! God is good all the time and all the time, God is good!
3 God came from Teman,
and the Holy One from Mount Paran.
His splendor covered the heavens,
and the earth was full of his praise. Selah
4 His brightness was like the light;
rays flashed from his hand;
and there he veiled his power.
I LOVE verses like this that just show how amazing God TRULY is. Underestimating God is something that we always need to careful of; if He made every star in the sky, all of the universe, and everything else then why should we doubt Him? If God can create the heavens and the earth then why wouldn’t He be able to answer a prayer? God is so loving yet SO powerful, He has so many incredible attributes that are so amazing. God is SO good!
MARANATHA!!!!!
3 God came from Teman, and the Holy One from Mount Paran.
His splendor covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. Selah
4 His brightness was like the light; rays flashed from his hand;
and there he veiled his power.
Mostly this entire chapter shouted to me that God is powerful, and that God is awesome. He is so great that when He walks through the land, the sky is covered, the rivers are moved aside, and even the mountains are overturned, thrown out of the way like flies. The point the metaphor is trying to make is that God awesome and powerful, and you better realize that and fear Him. Yet He is not solely mighty; He is beautiful, a brilliant light. I want to have the right response to this God which the Bible decribes. Namely, to fall facedown and worship Him. He, the infinite God, has made everything and owns everything, but He also gave everything up for *me*, a finite sinner, when He sent Jesus Christ to take my place. Thus, He deserves the highest praise from my whole heart! God, please unite my heart all of my days to worship and live for You, the only worthy One. And please do not let the revival die down or fade away, but continue to renew and restore every single one of our hearts!
V.17-19
It’s so common for gripe about things that aren’t going the way they want, that’s why I like how the perspective here shifts to things that are worth rejoicing about despite circumstances. Instead of venting about everything going wrong, we need to remember things worth rejoicing in the Lord.
“When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord”
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
Evan’s comment got me thinking about this verse. Somedays I feel like I have less strength than others, but the reality is that EVERYDAY I need God’s strength. Today I was reminded how I need to express this to God consistently in prayer!
The last three verses make me think of conditional thankfulness. It is easy to be thankful to God when things are going well and to praise Him. It’s those times when things aren’t going well that we have the perfect opportunity to see how thankful we really are. Generally, I become self-absorbed during hard times and my attention shifts away from being thankful that God even allowed me another day to wake up. Seeing these times as an opportunity to grow may just turn a sour day into one that you will be glad to reflect on. I can now see that my usual response to bad times is just the opposite of what I should be doing: placing my attention on God and not becoming worried with the situation because there is no one more trustworthy than Him.
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
I feel like these verses are talking specifically to me. There are many things in my life that don’t make much sense right now, but I need to “take joy in the God of my salvation,” anyway. Habakkuk is a great example that I need to follow. I can’t let myself get caught up in the why, why, why. I need to just keep telling myself that God is right (Beach Night!), because that is true. And that changes everything, which should change my whole pattern of thinking.
I loved verse 6 and 7 because it shows the power of God and how hew can really wipe us all clean in one second if he wanted to. We should be greatful for the every breath God have given us and never get ungreatful….I’m so stoked that God has given me eternal life and I want to share the good news with everyone I know so that they will not burn in hell and receive the punishment that we all deserve. Praise God for everything that he has done in my life!!
17Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
19The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to go on the heights.
This verse reminds me to rejoice in he Lord no matter what circumstance we are in good and bad because it all happens for a reason!
6 He stood and measured the earth;
he looked and shook the nations;
then the eternal mountains were scattered;
the everlasting hills sank low.
His were the everlasting ways.
This chapter really puts things into perspective. It covers how awesome and mighty God is through the huge things He has done, and at the end, Habakkuk still praises God despite his awful circumstances. I really understand now from this verse exactly how tiny I am compared to God, and how much I need to fear Him. This chapter is the best example anyone could have of a man that trusts God all the way!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
I <3 these verses. So many things are happening to Habakkuk, but he still rejoices in the Lord. He has had everything taken away from him. His whole life has changed! Yet, he doesn't turn from the Lord. this is such a legiT example of how we should act. It was really convicting when Ben was talking at beach night and he said will you glorify God and praise Him when something bad happens. Many times for me it is hard to praise God in troubled times. But this is when I should be turning to God the most. In stead of looking at what is wrong I should be thinking big picture. I also need to always be joyful and content because I am saved.
MARANATHA!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
This verse is so straight-forwardly-epic. How could you not praise Him? How could you not live your life for Him? It’s so awesome the work He does in everybody’s life and I am so happy that I will be with Him in Heaven its just such a great feeling. We should take joy in losing everything if its God’s will. Everything that happens, good or bad, is His will. If we are truly living for Him, no matter what happens to us we have to realize that God is in control and He is good. MARANATHA!!!!
I will take joy in the God of my salvation!!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
these two verses speak so much truth! I feel like I’m totally in a place where I need to completely trust the Lord with everything, and even though I don’t understand why he allows certain things to happen, I can still trust that he is good ALL the time. My prayer tonight is that I truly believe that 100%.. knowing that his plans are always better, and I can rejoice in my Savior’s perfect sovereignty!
In verse two reminded me of revival. The meaning of revival so that people get revived. It is my favorite week of the summer. So many people get save and start thier walk with God. the new Christians are the best beachse like Pastor Bobby said they are always wanting to go out there and share the gospel. Also if we are Christians being at Revival helps us get away from all the bad stuff In the world and help us focus on God. Also in verses seventenn and eighteen is what Pastor Ben was taking about at beach night. There are days that are going to bring us down and we need to trust in the Lord. God is working his plan and we might not understand right away but Gid knows it is for the better. Like what Pastor Ben say God is good all the time and all the time God is good. Let’s believe in that. Plus whT we learned lay night was God is right!!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places
When times get tough and we dont know what to do, its God that we need to turn to! There are so many times in my life where im upset and i dont know what to do, and i turn to my friends for help, when in reality, God is so much more powerful than a friend, and he is in complete control! Our God is so awesome, and we have so much to be thankful for! And that saying, “God is good all the time, and all the time God is good” is SO true! we forget that even during rough times, God is good!!
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
19 God, the Lord, is my strength;
he makes my feet like the deer’s;
he makes me tread on my high places.
I liked how Pastor Ben was talking about these verses at beach night. God is good all the time, even when it seems like your life is all messed up, you can thank God still for everything. I need to be more thankful and when I am in a trial, to always thank the Lord.
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation
These verses describe how Habakkuk rejoiced in the LORD even when he was going through trials!!
It is hard to see the good that can come out of going through a trial but if we call on God and seek Him for the answer he will show us!!
MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
17 Though the fig tree should not blossom,

Ben talked about these verses at beach night! Even during the worst conditions we should be rejoicing in the Lord. When we go through hard trials we can trust in God because he is in complete control and always right!
