Exodus 7

Exodus 7

Moses and Aaron Before Pharaoh

7:1 And the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet. You shall speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron shall tell Pharaoh to let the people of Israel go out of his land. But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, Pharaoh will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and bring my hosts, my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great acts of judgment. The Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring out the people of Israel from among them.” Moses and Aaron did so; they did just as the Lord commanded them. Now Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.

Then the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Prove yourselves by working a miracle,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and cast it down before Pharaoh, that it may become a serpent.’” 10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants, and it became a serpent. 11 Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers, and they, the magicians of Egypt, also did the same by their secret arts. 12 For each man cast down his staff, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs. 13 Still Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said.

The First Plague: Water Turned to Blood

14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is hardened; he refuses to let the people go. 15 Go to Pharaoh in the morning, as he is going out to the water. Stand on the bank of the Nile to meet him, and take in your hand the staff that turned into a serpent. 16 And you shall say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, sent me to you, saying, “Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness. But so far, you have not obeyed.” 17 Thus says the Lord, “By this you shall know that I am the Lord: behold, with the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water that is in the Nile, and it shall turn into blood. 18 The fish in the Nile shall die, and the Nile will stink, and the Egyptians will grow weary of drinking water from the Nile.”’” 19 And the Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt, over their rivers, their canals, and their ponds, and all their pools of water, so that they may become blood, and there shall be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, even in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.’”

20 Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded. In the sight of Pharaoh and in the sight of his servants he lifted up the staff and struck the water in the Nile, and all the water in the Nile turned into blood. 21 And the fish in the Nile died, and the Nile stank, so that the Egyptians could not drink water from the Nile. There was blood throughout all the land of Egypt. 22 But the magicians of Egypt did the same by their secret arts. So Pharaoh’s heart remained hardened, and he would not listen to them, as the Lord had said. 23 Pharaoh turned and went into his house, and he did not take even this to heart. 24 And all the Egyptians dug along the Nile for water to drink, for they could not drink the water of the Nile.

25 Seven full days passed after the Lord had struck the Nile. (ESV)

  1. Old man new heart, thankful for a just and loving God says:

Ex 7:3-4 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt, he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites.

I see how God used Pharoah, His enemy, to make the Israelite’s wait in painful bondage so that there would be no mistake that He is LORD. For His purpose, His glory, God suspended natural law and changed the course of the king’s heart. Many people suffered, rightfully so, in these events. God, You are great and worthy of all praise! LORD, I want to glorify You with my life by choice; please forgive me and use me today no matter what the consequences in this world.

  2. M@x says:

4 he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites.

God is giving Moses a little taste of what is to come. He tells him that pharoah will not listen to him. If i was in Moses’ position, that would probably discourage me. But then God goes on to say that He will punish the Egyptians, and He will free the Isrealites. God had to give Moses the bad news, but after the bad news, there was good news. For us today, we aren’t enslaved or in captivity, but there will be things that God tells us that aren’t exactly good news for us. We may have to go through trials of all kinds. But there is always good news after the bad news. God will punish those who hurt us, and reward us when we go through trials.

  3. Adam Duarte says:

22 But the Egyptian magicians did the same things by their secret arts, and Pharaoh’s heart became hard; he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said

This reminds me a lot of how people are given proof of God’s existence and the Bible’s validity, and yet they still deny it. What more proof could you ask for than what’s in prophecy, etc.? As Austin Payne talked about at the Aliso lunch yesterday, there’s plenty of proof for the existence of God. The Bible speaks the truth, just as the Lord does here to Pharaoh – yet like the people of today, Pharaoh turns away from God and mocks his people, and so he incurs a terrible judgment.

  4. I am encouraged by the difference in Moses’ response here as opposed to the last couple chapters; he obeys God the first time. He trusts that God will do what He says He is going to do and He will be faithful as He ALWAYS is.

v3-4 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt, he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites.

What we must realize is God IS sovereign and that means that He is in control of it all…it wasn’t by chance or mistake that Pharaoh responded the way he did, as we can see, the Lord explains rather exactly that that would happen. God uses even the wicked of this world to show His glory and His power and we will continue to see that through the end of this story. This reminded me of Romans in which we read,

Romans 9:14-18 What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15For he says to Moses,”I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.

  5. Jacob Decker says:

6 Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them.
7 Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.
8 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,
9 “When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ then say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a snake.”
10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake.
That is a pretty cool miracle. I like how Moses and Aaron do as they are told which is a perfect example to what we all should do. Then Aaron performed a miracle with the Lord of course and the staff became a snake! That is truly a miracle and is pretty awesome. We ourselves should always obey and follow God and do what God commands us to do.

  6. Beth Lauder says:

10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. 11 Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts: 12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.

Oftentimes evil people can attempt to do miracles that appear to rival what God can do. However, verse 12 shows beautifully that God’s power is always mightier than any evil magic that is done. When Aaron’s staff swallowed up the Egyptian wisemen and sorcerers’ staffs it showed God’s total mastery over the pharoah and all the fake gods of Egypt. Our God is mighty and His power and miracles are unrivaled!

  7. Ryan Damato says:

2 You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country.
3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt,
4 he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites.

This is a great parallel to a discussion I had recently with the Capo guys. We were talking about how God has chosen some and not others. A common response from people is “then why evangelize?”
Moses and Aaron knew that Pharaoh would not listen but they went anyway. We are told that some are chosen but many are not and it stops us from doing what God has told us to do. God used the obedience of Moses and Aaron to work for his good just like he could use us in our obedience in sharing the gospel for his good.

There are a lot of New Testament Christians today. These are people who don’t see as much of a relevance in the God of the Old Testament. The great thing is, we can see, going from the OT to the NT that he is the same God it’s just that we’ve changed. I pray that we can read the history of the OT and consider how to apply it in our lives today and to really see how it parallels the NT

  8. Pastor Bobby says:

5 And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”

This is an interesting statement! We know that the Egyptians don’t repent of their sin and start worshiping the true God. Yet God even wants to make his enemies know who he is. This reminds me of the day when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord even if they rejected him.

This is something we should keep in mind when praying for revival in the OC! Not only do we want people to repent and put their faith in Christ. But we even want those who reject Christ to know that he is Lord and God is truly working among us as his people at Compass Bible Church!

  9. Alex Mishreki says:

    And the plagues begin!

23 Instead, he turned and went into his palace, and did not take even this to heart.

24 And all the Egyptians dug along the Nile to get drinking water, because they could not drink the water of the river.

25 Seven days passed after the LORD struck the Nile.

Wow, Pharaoh didn’t even seem moved by what just occured. The Nile, the drinking source of Pharaoh’s kingdom, was just turned to blood (as well as water in wooden buckets and stone jars! [v19]) and he didn’t care, not even for the state of his people. I wonder how many people I pass by in the grocery store, or even at my school, that have hard hearts like this. Even though Pharaoh didn’t repent and turn around, God still used Moses and Aaron for His glory throughout the kingdom. Like Ryan Damato said, even though not every person we evangelize to will repent and change, we still need to be obeying God’s word by making disciples of all the nations!

  10. Dillon says:

The pharoah was not very clever to say the least. He wouldn’t take to heart anything he saw, even his water supply was turned into blood and he still manages to be stubborn. Im excited to read about the rest of the plagues!

  11. 6 Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them.

This verse stood out to me because it is important and something to take seriously. Moses and Aaron did what the Lord commanded them to do! As Christians, I’m sure we do not always obey God in EVERYTHING and do what he tells us to for whatever excuses we may have. Sin should not be taken lightly, and it is what strays us away from the Lord! It is difficult to carry out God’s commands if we do not have the right heart for it! We should have a desire to obey God and a desire to strive to be more and more like Christ daily! We will be rewarded if we do so and store up treasures in heaven.

  12. Bethany Gonzales :D says:

24 And all the Egyptians dug along the Nile to get drinking water, because they could not drink the water of the river.
25 Seven days passed after the LORD struck the Nile.

This is just incredible to me. For seven whole days they had to dig by the river just to get there normal dose of agua. And if they didn’t get some guess what they probably had to do? ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
It just shows how powerful God is and what He can easily take away from us in a flash! He’s so mighty, nothing compares to God’s holiness and righteousness. We can’t even comprehend it! God can take our life away just like that and I think that a lot of us don’t really think about it that much. Praises, that is what should be on our tongues 24/7. I love you God! Thank you for all that You do! :D

  13. Elizabeth :D says:

4 he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites.

This is amazing what God does here. He already knows what will happen (because he planned it) It also shows how committed and powerful he is just to help the Israelites out of a horrible life in Egypt, and get his message across to everyone. This really shows us how much God is in control and how much He really cares!

  14. Kyle Owen Johnson aka knock out johnson says:

6 Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them.

These people mention in the Bible here back in Genesis and Exodus did about everything that God commanded them to do. People like Abraham, Jacob, Moses, and Aaron. We have seen this theme in these first two books of the Bible how they did what the Lord told them to do.

7 Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.

I didn’t realize that Moses and Aaron were this old. Moses being 80 and Aaron being 83, that suprises me.

13 Yet Pharaoh’s heart became hard and he would not listen to them, just as the LORD had said

Prophecy, God said that Pharoah’s heart is going to be hard and it happens. One thing I think about God being holy this week is His faithfulness, when God says something is going to happen, it happens! He doesn’t take His Words back like I do and He is always right in what He says!

21 The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. Blood was everywhere in Egypt.

God in this chapter does two miracles, one being a plague also, with the staff becoming a snake and the river water being turned into blood with the staff also. That last part makes me think “blood was everywhere in Egypt, yes it was in the Nile but I think it is also the Israelites were dying or bleeding from all of the labor and the punishment that the Egyptians put on them.

12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs

i find this to be a bit funny and cool.

  15. Riley Hancock says:

Aaron’s staff\snake ate the other snakes\staff’s I am suprised Pharaoh’s did not let them go because God was showing Pharaoh His true power.

  16. Murphy Danahy says:

6 Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them.

This is the response that we should have when we see one of GOD’s commands. This is so cool. Moses and Aaron have amazing faith and it is rewarded. We should have amazing faith like that.

  17. 5 And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”

This verse really stood out to me because in America today, when bad things happen to our country people say “Where is God?” or “How could a good, loving God do things like this?” It’s so interesting to hear God’s perspective that He was going to do some terrible things in Egypt and it was all so that they would know that He is God!

What if we saw bad things happen in our country or in our lives and responded with praise for the fact that God is God? If we did this we would not be so prone to being angry at God for circumstances we don’t like and would be seeing Him for who He is, a good and loving God who is to be feared for His holiness and judgments.

  18. Angela says:

5 “And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”

This shows God’s power. He said that when he puts his hand on Egypt, really just lays it on them, that they will all know that he is Lord. That would be amazing to see. Every person in Egypt knowing that God is Lord. Also bringing every Isreaelite out of Egypt was a miracle, that only could of been done by him.

  19. Ashlyn:D says:

12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.

This is so great and amazing!! First of all a staff turning into a snake!! Our God is so amazing, i am awestruck when i try and fathom Him and all that he can do! And secondly again God wins, the other peoples snakes got swallowed right up. Even though we may be “losing” right now, God will always be with us and will triumph over all evil!

  20. 6 Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them.

I like this verse it shows obidience
and how we should obey god and do what
ever we are called to dooo

  21. Spencer Camp says:

5 And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”

This whole scene of Moses coming and asking Pharaoh to let God’s people go – pharaoh refusing – and then God’s miraculous signs of judgement plague the Egyptians until God brings the Israelites out of Egypt is meant to exemplify God’s amazing glory and faithfulness. It is meant to display his infinite power so that we can look back and trust in him for the future. It is comforting that God is unchanging, and the same power he illustrated then is still with him. We can trust that we are following a Powerful God, able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. We follow a truly amazing God.

  22. Rebekah Foreman says:

2 You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country.
3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt,
4 he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites.

God’s judgment is going to occur by signs and being punished for this. God is amazing how he cares so much about his people and how he can work in one man to tell a big power to let his people go. it shows Moses trust in God and faith.
    Always sang this at Stoneybrooke
Pharaoh Pharaoh oh baby let my people go free free ya ya ya

  23. Mechell says:

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is unyielding; he refuses to let the people go.

I wonder how often we resemble the Pharaoh in this way. What are we holding onto, refusing to let go? Is it our music, do we listen to sin like Pastor Bobby talked about on Sunday? Do we enjoy watching sin in movies or on television? Do we hang around sinful people and call them friends? 1 John 5:3 says… For this is the love of God that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome, If we love God we need to stop refusing to let go of our sinful ways. My prayer today is that we would willingly surrender to His commandments and not have an unyielding heart like Pharaoh.

Hey Angela and Rebekah…Lets go Capo, Tesoro and San Juan!!!

  24. Alyssa Forster says:

6 Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them.
20 Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD had commanded. He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood

Throughout the passage Moses and Aaron are a great example to us. They did what God had asked them to do. Just like Aaron and Moses, when God commands us to do something we need to obey Him because we should be glorifying and living for Him every day (:

  25. 7 Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.

I was pretty shocked by this. I didn’t realize that they would be this old. Even though back then, you lived longer, 83 is still a wow number. You would think that at this age they would be retired or old and unable to do anything but this just proves how God can work with anyone who will give their heart to Him. It doesn’t matter if you’re old or young, God can use anyone.

great to see you Mechell and Rebekah and Angela. Keep up the good work capo, tesoro and san juan hills girls:)

  26. Katie Slusher says:

6 Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them.

It’s cool to see Moses finally obeying the commands of the Lord without offering excuses! He trusts the Lord and does what he is instructed before Pharoah. Moses is later credited in the New Testament (Hebrews 11) for his great faith. Hebrews 11:27 says, “By faith he left Eygpt, not fearing the king’s anger, he perservered because he saw him who is invisible.” Moses feared the Lord rather than fear Pharoah. By going before Pharoah, Moses would be risking his life, however he realized that obedience was more important! I pray that we would have this fear of God and would be obedient even in the face of death.

  27. John Karlsson says:

20 Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD had commanded. He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood.

Pharoah saw the waters of the Nile turned to blood by men who were speaking with authority from God. Yet still Pharoah refused to humble himself before God.
It’s easy to look down on Pharoah because he clearly ignored the obvious miracles that happened right before his eyes. But how many times have we ignored God call to action in our own lives. How many times have we been encouraged to pray, read God’s word or be bold ambassadors for Christ. We go to a great church and have great leaders who preach from God’s word. Yet there are many of who ignore the sermons and do not follow the leadership God has given us. God is a kind wanting everyone to come to repentance and faith. Don’t be like Pharoah and miss your chance.

  28. PaYtOn :] says:

1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.
5 And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”
6 Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them.

Go Moses and Aaron, in that they obeyed God, their father. It must have been so cool to hear a play by play on what is going to happen in the future and how God is going to harden Pharaoh’s heart on purpose, Everything has a purpose and a plan. (Including us commenting on SOTD :D ) It is amazing to know that God has created each day unique and it’s own. I mean it is AWESOME!!! And the fact that all He has to do is say or snap or do what ever He does to create each day and all that is in it. And to know, before the earth was created, what was going to happen today. THAT IS SOO COOL!!! it is just one more thing to praise God for! :]

    ***REMEMBER TO PRAISE HIM DAILY***

  29. Kelsey says:

10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake.

Moses and Aaron followed God’s orders, and true to His word, he performed a miracle. They had faith and trusted in him and he followed through and carried out his Word. He has promised us that he will take care of us. We need to trust in him and have faith that he will do so. If we follow his orders, he will follow his Word and do what he says. If we dont follow his commands though, what can we expect? We need to examine ourselves and our lives if one of our prayer requests isnt answered. Becasue chances are that it is our fault

  30. 6 Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them.

I love how this whole time Moses and Aaron dont give up faith and they no matter if Pharoah doesnt complie keep going back. He believe’s the Lord and fears him instead of the Pharoah, ehich is amazing!! We should all ramamber when worldly matters come up that we should not have fear of man but of the Lord!!! We have nothing to fear while being with the Lord, so we shouldnt be worried about what people will think or what will happen when spreading your faith, I hopw we can all remember this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  31. Laura Johnson says:

12Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.

This verse is such a great reminder of how powerful God is, everything He does is so beyond what anyone else could ever do. The magicians snakes/staffs were swallowed up even with the other peoples magic it didn’t do much God doesn’t use anything to create crazy things like that He’s just that amazing and powerful.

  32. kelly causky says:

6 Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them.

The obedience of Moses and Aaron took an extraordinary amount of faith. Remember, faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains!

  33. Kaitlyn says:

10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. 11 Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts: 12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.

I love this part of the passage. Just like many people have already said, it shows ultimately how powerful God really is. God will always win!!

  34. Snowmann says:

19 The LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over the streams and canals, over the ponds and all the reservoirs’-and they will turn to blood. Blood will be everywhere in Egypt, even in the wooden buckets and stone jars.”

gnarly…. water to blood?! that would be so interesting to have been able to observe. that just blows my mind. But seriously, why blood? i mean God could have turned it into like a huge amount of aligators, or fire, or even rock!! but i mean blood would be nasty. yuck. i dont get squeamish around the sight of blood, but if i went to the river and it was filled with blood i would kinda be freaked out. :/ and probably no go there again. ever again.

  35. Boomer Beatty says:

9 “When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ then say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a snake.”

10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake.

This section is an amazing section because you get to see how powerful the Lord really is cause he is able to preform these miracles through Aaron. Just like how God used Aaron he aslo uses us and christians as tools to work in our school, families, friends, and other things. I need to get more boldness in spreading the Word of God.

  36. Cameron Baxter says:

3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt,

this passage reminds me of Romans 9:15-24 where Paul basically says, in a nutshell, God can do whatever He wants because He is God. His will is not contigent upon our own; it is by grace and mercy that we are alive even if we are not saved.

here there is always a theological tension between free will and God’s ultimate plan. whenever we have this problem, i always find myself going to Romans 9. God can do whatever He wants, He is totally sovereign. as Paul puts it, who are we to question God?

  37. Jasmine Douglas says:

5 And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”

Sometimes we wonder why Moses had to go through all that hassle to free the Israelites. If God is so powerful, why couldn’t he strike Pharaoh down and free his people the easy way? God answers that question for us in verse 5. He wanted everyone to experience His power, Israelites and Egyptians.
God shows his power through events in our own lives too. We need to respond by giving Him all the glory he deserves. We go through trials and when we overcome them, we can praise the Lord for being so amazing to us! In the end, He gets all the glory. Let’s all take some time tonight to Praise God for his goodness!

  38. nicolee vanderlaann((: says:

Wow! Moses and Aaron are amazing in this chapter. They show so much
praise towards the Lord and trust that he will do what they say. Moses and Aaron do everything that the Lord tells him to do, and even though the Pharaoh doesn’t listen, they never give up on the Lord. I think alot of times we think that if we dont get things out of our prayer right away, we think its not gonna happen. God has a plan for everything he does and he knows whats in your heart. I know that need to become more bold when im speaking about the Lord because I know that i tend to not evangilize as much as i should. I need to pray and believe that the Lord will speak through me to help me evangilize to my friends and family.

  39. Jacob Foreman says:

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is unyielding; he refuses to let the people go.

This would seem so discouraging and the easy thing would be to throw in the towel and give up. Aaron and Moses trusted the Lord though, even though it may seem difficult, and knew that God would follow through in the end. With this trust they will eventually be rewarded by the Lord and the Israelites will be free!

  40. Alison says:

22 But the Egyptian magicians did the same things by their secret arts, and Pharaoh’s heart became hard; he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said.

Satan’s power is deceptive. He can mimick the Lord, but he has no where near the power of God and no goodness in his heart. Its sad to think that people are brought down by Satan’s deception every day while failing to recognize the wonderful truth in God.

  41. It's Daniel Yo! says:

I think sometimes we are so amazed by the turning of the Nile to blood that we forget about the repurcussions. If you notice:

24 And all the Egyptians dug along the Nile to get drinking water, because they could not drink the water of the river.

This completely altered an Empire’s way on life. THis is huge!
And they had 7 whole days to think about it and what happened. I’m sure that some of the egyptians might’ve been mad at Pharoah

  42. Jenae Naee says:

UGHHH! Those stinking magicians are bothering me!! They arent even near as miraculous as God and pharoah still wont listen to Moses and Aaron. But i know its all part of Gods plan so the only thing that Moses and Aaron can do is trust in the Lord. We all may get frustrated at times when people arent listening to us about God or in another situation but Prayer is definatly a good way to go in that situation!

  43. em says:

5 And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”

This verse is so telling about who God is. Alot of people today are all into the “love” and that it is always being “nice” when really God is showing His love by revealing His power. Now the Egyptians will know that Moses’ God is the LORD and they might want to do what he commands or they won’t be too happy.

12Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.

I love this because it’s a demonstration God’s victory over evil! Many people can try and surpass the power of the LORD, but none will have success

  44. Luke Melrose!!!!!! says:

5 And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”

God had an awesome plan once again! He wanted pharoh’s heart to harden and He wanted to do those extrodinary things to Egypt. God didnt just want the israelites to leave nothing said…God wanted to ShowPharoh and all of Egypt that He WAS the Lord. I cant wait to read what happens next!

  45. maddi :) says:

I really like this whole passage because it shows us that all things can be done through Christ. We need to always put our 100% faith in him. Gods strength and power is being shown to us and we need to live a life in aww of him, but also in fear becasue he is capable of anything and evrything. I have really been thinking about striving for holiness this week, and in smallgruops we really got in depth about it and how we are to live a life of holiness and fear God becasue he is ultmetly perfect in every way. On the other hand what an awsome thing, God is on ultimate control of everything, and i way rather have Him be in control then some humans putting buttons on how he thinks in life should be played out.

  46. tyler M says:

That must not feel good for Moses and Aaron that the Pharoh keeps rejecting them. Just like Adam and Austin said, it’s like how could you not believe in the Bible and God when there so much proof and prophesy to it!

  47. jordan anderson (: says:

6 Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD commanded them.

I think that sometimes we get so caught up in trying to figure out what God is doing in our lives, or what he is going to do next. I love this verse because they just did what the Lord commanded…with out hesitation. They didn’t have to think about it or try and comprehend what the Lords plans were, they just got up and did what he told them to. I think that we need to be more like Moses and Aaron, and just do what the Lord commands no questions asked (:

***and i agree with Janae those magicians are bugging!! They are no where near the powers of God, yet they are compared to him, and are testing him***

  48. Jacob Antoun says:

3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt,

I love how clearly God’s sovereignty is portrayed here. Throughout the Bible we see God raise up people to perform His plans and purposes. In this chapter He hardens pharaohs heart and turns pharaoh against Himself so that His glory and power will be shown! I think it is important in all circumstances to remember the words of Romans – That in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. :)

  49. Leah says:

3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my miraculous signs and wonders in Egypt,
4 he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites.
5 And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”

God harded Pharaoh’s heart so that He’d be able to demonstrate his powers to the Egyptians and everyone else who was there. Then they would know that He is LORD over all things.

  51. Brandy Crane says:

4 he will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and with mighty acts of judgment I will bring out my divisions, my people the Israelites.

this verse reminds me of when we go and evangelize and most people won’t listen to us today when we tell them they need God in thier lives but one day they will know that and we can be sure of it! :)
