God Promises Deliverance
6:1 But the Lord said to Moses, “Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh; for with a strong hand he will send them out, and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land.”
2 God spoke to Moses and said to him, “I am the Lord. 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty, but by my name the Lord I did not make myself known to them. 4 I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they lived as sojourners. 5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the people of Israel whom the Egyptians hold as slaves, and I have remembered my covenant. 6 Say therefore to the people of Israel, ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment. 7 I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the Lord your God, who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. 8 I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. I will give it to you for a possession. I am the Lord.’” 9 Moses spoke thus to the people of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses, because of their broken spirit and harsh slavery.
10 So the Lord said to Moses, 11 “Go in, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the people of Israel go out of his land.” 12 But Moses said to the Lord, “Behold, the people of Israel have not listened to me. How then shall Pharaoh listen to me, for I am of uncircumcised lips?” 13 But the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron and gave them a charge about the people of Israel and about Pharaoh king of Egypt: to bring the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
The Genealogy of Moses and Aaron
14 These are the heads of their fathers’ houses: the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi; these are the clans of Reuben. 15 The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul, the son of a Canaanite woman; these are the clans of Simeon. 16 These are the names of the sons of Levi according to their generations: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari, the years of the life of Levi being 137 years. 17 The sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei, by their clans. 18 The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, the years of the life of Kohath being 133 years. 19 The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. These are the clans of the Levites according to their generations. 20 Amram took as his wife Jochebed his father’s sister, and she bore him Aaron and Moses, the years of the life of Amram being 137 years. 21 The sons of Izhar: Korah, Nepheg, and Zichri. 22 The sons of Uzziel: Mishael, Elzaphan, and Sithri. 23 Aaron took as his wife Elisheba, the daughter of Amminadab and the sister of Nahshon, and she bore him Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. 24 The sons of Korah: Assir, Elkanah, and Abiasaph; these are the clans of the Korahites. 25 Eleazar, Aaron’s son, took as his wife one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas. These are the heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levites by their clans.
26 These are the Aaron and Moses to whom the Lord said: “Bring out the people of Israel from the land of Egypt by their hosts.” 27 It was they who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt about bringing out the people of Israel from Egypt, this Moses and this Aaron.
28 On the day when the Lord spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt, 29 the Lord said to Moses, “I am the Lord; tell Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say to you.” 30 But Moses said to the Lord, “Behold, I am of uncircumcised lips. How will Pharaoh listen to me?” (ESV)

How many times has Moses said something about his “faltering lips”? If we would stop doubting God’s ability to perform miracles through us, imagine what he could get done through us! Though we may not understand it at the time, God’s plan is always perfect. We cannot fool ourselves into thinking that we know a better way than God’s way, because that is exactly the same thing that we think when we sin. This ties into our pride in that it causes us to think that we know better than God, and in order to take a large step toward christ, it is necessary to make ourselves humble.
Right on Evan! It’s clear that God is doing the heavy lifting and we are just being used my Him and have no right to whine about not being able to perform what He asks.
Cehck this out: Ex 6:25 Eleazar son of Aaron married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas. These were the heads of the Levite families, clan by clan. Now here is a man ZEALOUS for God’s way. He is Aaron’s grandson and in the desert he has a mighty sharp spear for Christ: Num 25:6-8
6 Then an Israelite man brought to his family a Midianite woman right before the eyes of Moses and the whole assembly of Israel while they were weeping at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. 7 When Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the priest, saw this, he left the assembly, took a spear in his hand 8 and followed the Israelite into the tent. He drove the spear through both of them—through the Israelite and into the woman’s body. Then the plague against the Israelites was stopped…
Are we that zealous????
6 “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.
7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
8 And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD.’ ”
9 Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and cruel bondage.
It seems like the Israelites are constantly doubting God’s abilities, his promises, his power. Time and again they’re proven to be foolish for this – in much the same way we need to have complete faith and trust in God that He knows what He’s doing in our lives. Too many people out there think that they know best when really it’s the Lord they should be seeking advice from!
9 Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and cruel bondage.
The Israelites were letting their difficult circumstances discourage them and take their focus off of the strength of the LORD. Don’t we do the same thing sometimes? Oftentimes when we are struggling through a tough season in our lives we choose to focus on the difficulty of our trial instead of the sovereignty and omnipotence of God. God is in complete control and has absolute power over everything. He is the one who created the heavens and the earth with just the spoken word. We must remember that God is far mightier than any human foe we go up against or any hard circumstance. Let us not be like the Israelites in this passage who do not listen to their leader because they are so discouraged by their circumstances.
29 he said to him, “I am the LORD. Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I tell you.”
30 But Moses said to the LORD, “Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?”
Why does Moses keep doubting the power of God?? It is this continual doubting and questioning the sovereignty and ability of the Lord to do what He has promised and even said directly He would do…yet as a couple of you mentioned above, we too do the same thing, we are just as foolish. We question God’s goodness/faithfulness and direction in our lives. We wonder why God is allowing what He is allowing and we question whether we are going to be able to do something He has commanded us to do. Lets take heed to Moses here and listen the Lord and trust Him!
2 God also said to Moses, “I am the LORD.
3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself known to them.
These verses are so important to remember because God tells Moses “I am the Lord.” The one and only, Alpha Omega, King of all kings and Lord of all Lords, We are blessed to be with the Lord. 28 Now when the LORD spoke to Moses in Egypt,
29 he said to him, “I am the LORD. Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I tell you.” Awesome
5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.
Hey guys. Sorry I wasn’t at small group last night. My mom was sick and I was as tired as could be. Okay, here we see another verse where GOD answers prayers. GOD always answers your prayers, although in mysterious and different ways.
2 God also said to Moses, “I am the LORD.
30 But Moses said to the LORD, “Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?”
I think this chapter really is about trust/faith. Moses is trying to trust in God, but Moses isn’t to patient and the Israelites are not buying into what God is telling Moses what to tell them because of the punishment and more work they had to do. Moses is finding difficult to trust in God, even when God controls everything and Pharaoh will not listen to him. This can apply to us, even when things in life don’t happen as you want them to, we still got to trust in the Lord because we know that it is His Will that will happen!
This morning I also got to read Psalm 77, and it got me more pumped up for reading Exodus. In the Psalm, the writer goes from a pretty intense doubting (Has God’s unfailing love vanished forever?) to pretty high praise (What God is so great as our God?). He makes this change by remembering the deeds of the Lord and his miracles of long ago. And he remembers that “With your mighty arm you redeemed your people, the descendents of Jacob and Joseph.”
That is what God is promising to do in this chapter! Reading that Psalm and this chapter this morning has really refreshed me because it has reminded me that what we are reading about in Exodus is not just a history lesson or a Bible story, it is something that we can remember and gain strength from when we are going through doubt in our own lives! Praise God for his Word!
28 Now when the LORD spoke to Moses in Egypt,
29 he said to him, “I am the LORD. Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I tell you.”
30 But Moses said to the LORD, “Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?”
moses keeps denying the power of the Lord when he say that they will not listen to him. The Lord keeps telling him to say everything He says to pharaoh and he will let them go. We do this a lot in life and do not believe in the power of God sometimes. We should not doubt him so much and just rely on Him.
It is so interesting to see how God works with Pharoah in the upcoming chapters with all the plagues and how God hardens Pharoah’s heart and other times Pharoah hardens his own heart…
But God did this for one reason, thats basically to say he is the Almighty God who is. We need to realized as Christians that we a followers of this almighty God, we are not our own, but his.
“I will” is said here 7 times! God really wanted to get the message across that he is going to have his hand at work here. He is promising to deliver them from their misery. I would think that hearing this would excite the Israelites but in verse 9 we see that “…they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and cruel bondage.”
They were so caught up in their troubles that they didn’t even take notice in what Moses had said. When prayers are answered, we need to praise God and rejoice! Let’s not get discouraged at the amount of time it takes for that answer because God is sovereign and his plan for us is perfect.
7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
This is the same promise that the Lord made us when we repent and put our faith in Him. After we do this we are now his children. We tend to forget this. How could we? We have the best father ever! We need to remember this and praise him for it. He deserves all the praise we can give him, and we are called to worship and praise him. We should want to praise him if we love him truly.
9 Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and cruel bondage10 Then the LORD said to Moses,
11 “Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country.”
12 But Moses said to the LORD, “If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips ?”
It can be daunting when God asks us to talk with people who refuse to listen for whatever reason. I have encountered many occasions where I have had to speak Gods trut to deaf ears! This is an act of obedience; even when we don’t see the big picture we need to be willing to be used by God. I shared a praise report in small group last week about my aunt. For years I had been speaking Gods truth to her and she never listened. At times I often wondered…why do I waste my time, she will never change. In obedience I continued, realizing that my thoughts or fears really didn’t matter. The next thing you know, she responds! After spending countless hours on this person, she finally gets the big picture…how cool is that! Eventually both the Israelites and the Pharaoh will witness the awesome power of our God and believe me… they will respond! My prayer today is that our focus would not be on our own ability or the responses of others but rather the desire to faithfully administer Gods truth in obedience to His will.
9 Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and cruel bondage.
The Israelites had a hard time believing that God was going to rescue them. They had been in slavery for over 400 years, and things were getting worse, not better. So instead of looking to God for comfort and crying out for deliverance, they had given up and resorted to discouragement and feeling bad for themselves in their situation. Too often, we can be tempted to do the same thing. When everything is going well in our lives, it is easy to see God’s blessings and power at work; but when faced with trials, it is harder to see how He is working through the situation. But we need to remember that God is working everything out for His glory and our good, and that, as the book of James said, we need to take joy in trials and difficult situations. Instead of leading us away from God and into discouragement and depression, difficult situations are a reminder to us that we cannot do things on our own, and they give us the opportunity to rely more fully on God’s provision for us.
8 And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD.’ ”
I love that last part, “I AM THE LORD.” It is so powerful and God is communicating his message to the Israelites and reminding them of his supreme power and holiness. Such a reassuring way to end a statement after the Israelites have been doubting the will of the Lord. We need to have trust in the Lord and understand it isn’t always about us and what we want right now. God always keeps his promises, always stays faithful, and never fails. What He speaks will be true, but that doesn’t mean it will be this instant. :)
9 Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and cruel bondage.
The reaction of the Israelites may have been a natural one but it was not the right one. It was sinful. Like Pastor Mike has said, there may be explanations for our sin, but their is no excuse for it. God expects us to take Him at His word and obey regardless of our circumstances or how we may feel.
This just speaks to me soooo much! Every time I read this passage, it’s like I’m hearing God speak to me Himself! It just reminds me of how we are no longer slaves to sin and we are made free through the love that God has for us by sending His son to die for us! Once we’re saved, we are taken as His own and He is our God for eternity, something that we can’t even fathom! He’s so mighty and powerful and HOLY! nothing is wrong with Him in anyway and He’s given me all the blessings that I have today! Lord I love you!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for all that You do! :D
30 But Moses said to the LORD, “Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?”
This verse totally reminded me of evangelizing! God commands us to evangelize, but there are times when I’m afraid I won’t know what to say, or how the other person will respond. Instead of acting like Moses, we need to be fearless and courageous, putting our trust in the Lord! When we decide not to evangelize, it shows our doubt and lack of faith in the Lord, and how would that represent Christ?? Why would others want to put their faith in Christ if we don’t show our faith when we can’t even do such a simple thing like evangelizing!? This verse really encouraged me to start evangelizing more! :D
2 God also said to Moses, “I am the LORD.
AMEN to God being LORD!!! How cool is it that Moses got to have a full on conversation with God. We talk to God but Moses had an actual “I am here, talking to you” type of conversation. I know God replys to our prays and talks to us, which is pretty amazing. But it is awesome for Moses because he talked to God as if they were BFFs :D Which God should be, we should talk to Him more than we talk to our friends, i mean He created us in all, its the least we could do. Plus it is awesome to talk to God because He is REALLY good at listening and has an answer for everything(literally):D
***REMEMBER yo pray to Him everyday for ATLEAST 10 minutes***
1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country.
This is a really great verse because it shows how powerful God really is and what he can do for the Israelites. Especially in a time of intense suffering by using his wrath and influence on Pharaoh.
Never forget what God is capable of doing!
:)
5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.
Have you ever heard the expression, “An elephant never forgets”? I think that the expression should be “Our God never forgets” instead.
This verse is so awesome!!! I can just imagine, God is looking down and He sees all the world. Even that right there is hard to comprehend! He sees the whole world, and He can still hear the individual cries of the Isrealites! It’s so amazing! When we cry out for help, God hears us! How awesome is that? He remembers His promose to them, and keeps it. God will always be there for us; He promised. When we need help, all we need to do is call on Him, and He’ll hear us! That is so awesome! God is so amazing it just blows my mind!
7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
I just like how God speaks in the past tense here… He says he “brought” them out of Egypt before it had actually happened. That’s pretty cool because it shows that God was completely confident about what he was going to do. He knows our futures too, and has complete control over everything.
6 “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.
As we go through out the chapters to come we can see that God is completely faithful in all his promises. 100% of the time God is faithful to his promises despite the israelites distrust in God. He still follows through. That is why we can have full confidence in the promise made with the cross that through God created repentance and faith we can be saved. The BEST promise EVER!
When Moses and his brother stud against Pharaod that i would not do but I would do it for God.Thank you God for making me, me.
12 But Moses said to the LORD, “If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips?”
Moses brings up a very good point but yet again he questions the power of God. I think we do this alot as well. We may forget sometimes that God is all powerful and anything is possible with Him. This is a very comforting thought when it comes to mind.
1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country.”
Moses keeps doubting the power of the LORD. But, He just keeps reassuring Moses that its because of HIS mighty hand… Not Moses’ and that HE has it all under control
29 he said to him, “I am the LORD. Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I tell you.”
30 But Moses said to the LORD, “Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?”
The parts were it says I AM LORD are amazing because its bold and God can do anything. I believe Moses is second guessing the power of God. He needs to trust the Lord and know He can do anything. God is the king of all.
I love that God reassures Moses with who He is. All our doubts and worries in life are unecesary because of who our awsome and amazing God is! Who made us when we were in our mother’s womb, who created the universe, who is full of love, grace, and truth, who is always faithfull, who is Holy? Our God!!!!
1.) Then the LORD said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country.”
Exodus makes it so clear through the life of Moses that God is the one doing all the hard stuff and He will take care of everything, He just wants to use us…so let’s have a willing heart to serve and be used by the Lord.
Like mentioned by many people, it’s amazing to think about how Moses kept on doubting God and tryig to hetniut of talking to Pharoh… We need to obey the Lord when he tells us to!
God is worthy of being trusted. As he kept His covenant to the israelites He will eventually do things promised in the New Testament.
11 “Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country.”
12 But Moses said to the LORD, “If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips ?”
Moses doubted the Lord even though the Lord reminded him that this was his God speaking to him. This was an example of of a men fearing man more than fearing God. Who is more powerful? Pharaoh or God? Fear of other men can make us falter, but what is fear when it is the Lord commanding you?
I agree with a lot of you guys. Moses should have trusted God more. why should we be afraidof other people now when in the future God might incinrerate us for not obeying Him? and Moses keeps takling about his “faltering lips.” those of us who have evangelizical fear issues, even me are afraid that we might not kknow something on the spot when we are being countered when we tell people about Christ, or we might now know the words to say. Evangelizing is not a scripted thing; it comes at you like, “BAM!” and you either hit or miss, but its okay cuz there should be an oppurtunity everyday to tell people about Christ and the Good News.
Revive Orange county!
This verse is so encouraging. To read this and know that we are HIS, and that we belong to him gives me so much comfort. He has saved us from eternal suffering in hell, and he has freed us from our sins. What more can we ask for? I think sometimes we take for granted where we live. We are so blessed to live in southern orange county. We are so blessed to be able to speak freely about the gospel. There are so many people far more persecuted than us. Because i have traveled a lot i have spoken to many different people who are persecuted for their faith, and it is very interesting to hear them say that they feel sorry for us. They think we have it more difficult than they do because they are constantly tested in their faith, where we have it pretty easy. So what is stopping us from evangelizing? There is nothing stopping us here other than our own fear of man. I just thought that i’d throw that in there (: and remind us that we have so much to be thankful for and to praise God for.
Keep your spiritual fervor in the Lord!
(:
7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
I love in this verse how it says “I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God.” It is so crazy how God takes us into His hands and shapes our lives, planning out a perfect plan for us. How He changes our lives when we realize who He really is and put our all our trust and faith in Him. And that He is our one and truly amazing God.
When reading the genealogy, I realized that Moses was Levi’s great grandson. I thought that he would have been much farther down the line. This just shows that God is not slow in keeping his promises, as he delivered Israel within 4 generations of Jacob himself. And Israel wasn’t even enslaved until after Jacob and his sons had died.
30 But Moses said to the LORD, “Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?”
Even though God is so faithful, many times we respond like Moses and make excuses for not evangelizing like He asks us to. This is hypocritical if we say we trust Him with our lives, but then don’t trust Him enough to do what He asks. God will take care of us and give us the words to say, because He has promised to, and instead of making excuses or trying to convince ourselves how we are justified in being silent, lets obey Him and spread His name.
I love this because in this section even though Moses is not being listened to by the Israelites and then God commands him to go to the Pharaoh and tell him to let the people go and he at first says
30 But Moses said to the LORD, “Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?”
But he still has does it and has confidence in the lord that he will help him say what the Lord wants him to say and be bold. We need to pray for that kind of boldness in our schools.
Moses has told the Pharaoh things before and he hasn’t listened. Moses questions
the power of god when he says that the Pharaoh will not listen. We all question
God’s power. We get these challenges everyday at our school. For example, when we ask people to come to church and they refuse, we just have to continue to bring them and not give up cause that is what the Lord is telling us to do. His power is so hard for us to comprehend because we have never seen or could even imagine of something so great. God is so amazing that everything he tells us to do, he is doing for a reason. As long as we follow what he says, God will lead our way in the world.
I love Jacob and Bekah’s comments! How powerful is that statement: “I am the LORD” – enough said. It’s an answer that brings complete confidence and comfort in God’s word!
5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.
We should always remember that God will always be there remembering the promise he gave Us –forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ. We should praise God for his faithfulness regularly and thank him for his covenant.
Why is Moses so doubtful of God?? Ugh its bugging me but i guess we do the same thing today its just not in as big of a situation so we dont recognize it. We need to trust in God’s full power!!
5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.
Once again, God remembers his promises and is faithful. He is so amazing and i am so thankful that my life is in HIS hands!
like a lot of people have been saying, why on earth is Moses doubting God?!?!?! He should have realized that God already this planned out, and that he works for good for those that love him! and Moses definatly loved him!
2 God also said to Moses, “I am the LORD.
This verse helps you to remember who rules over and who is the alpha and omega. Sometimes we make Him seem less than who He truly is by putting Him off the to the side or not making Him as important as He really should be. This verse just really helps me remember who God truly is and that He is Lord.
12 But Moses said to the LORD, “If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips ?”
Here again Moses doubts his ability to speak. Sometimes we refuse to trust God to give us the words to say. Moses is easy to relate to becasue he experiences things that we go through sometimes. We just need to let go or our fears and worries and let God use our lives, no questions asked.
7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
I love what Missy said about this verse. That God has control over everything and our future. It is great to know that God has a plan for our life and that we need to trsut in it. Trust that the Lord’s will and perfect plan will always work out and be the right one, and knowing that we can not do anything on our own! We need God to guide us and lead us to where he wants us to go. Obeying him and obeying his commands is what we need to be doing. We all serve a purpose and have a gift, and we need to use it to glorify God in all we do!
Its obvious in the last few chapters that Moses if very concerned about how he speaks and whether or not this with hurt God’s cause. God definitely wanted us to notice this! It doesn’t matter what impares us in this world- God will use us as He wants to!
12 But Moses said to the LORD, “If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips ?”
We are quick to look at Moses and get frustrated by his continually doubting God. However, we oftentimes do the same thing! How often are we afraid to share the gospel because we are afraid of saying the wrong thing or afraid of the response. But as we learned a few weeks ago in Bobby’s sermon, God will be with us and give us the words to say. Matthew 10:19-20 reminds us that at the time we share the truth, God will give us the words. Let’s make sure we are faithfully studying Scripture for the right answers and praying God will give us the words to say!
Yay another geneology chapter!
12 But Moses said to the LORD, “If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips ?”
Moses keeps referring to this. This shows how we can be so faithless when we are trusting God.
1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh:
Last chapter Pharoah was sticking it to the Israelites. Even some of the Israelites were turning against Moses.
Now God says why he was allowing Moses to have a hard time and for the Israelites to go through that trial.
So they could see what God was going to do! God’s glory would be even more awesome when he delivered them from Pharoah, after they had such a difficult experience. We need to keep this in mind sometimes when we are suffering hardship..that God might be preparing us to see a greater glimpse of His glory!
This is a cool story, not just this chapter but the story of Moses, it’s very interesting to see God’s glory and power. Also, the history of all the clans was cool to see how they’re all related.
Exoduse 6:2 God also said to Moses, “I am the LORD.
It’s crazy to see that Moses is so scared! God showed his faithfulness in the beginning of the chapter and then as he goes on, we see the promises that God makes but Moses doubts and looks for reasons to not go to Pharaoh. I wanted to say “man up” to Moses, “you got God making it happen!”
I guess that same statement can apply to us. God does the work in peoples hearts, we just need to be faithful to share no matter how scared we are.
Wow sooo many peeps are posting! This is encouraging! Hahaha that rymed! :D
Overall i like this story about Moses in this chapter. N it just reminds me that God uses us even with our imperfections. We just have to trust in God to guide us through any circumstance that comes our way. Also remember that God is always with us and he will never leave us. Praise God of all is holiness!!
5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.
God is amazing steady and unchanging. He is faithful to keep his promises. He kept his covenant to Abraham by bringing the Israelites out of Egypt to take posession of the land. This passage should give us confidence in God’s word and increase our faith in his promises. Jesus Christ is the way truth and the life and no one come to the father except through him. I am confident that God will be faithful with this promise just He was with the promise to Abraham.
7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
Wow. God’s affirmation of his people. that must have been an amazing conversation. Not only that but in a way, it is similar to when we become a Christian. God then says “and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God” i cant wait to have endless disscussions with God. boy that will be the day!!!!!
5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant.
i love when God says he has remembered his covenant because many people think that means he has forgotten it when it really means he is about to put it into action.
