I Am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life
14:1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.
12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, 17 even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.
18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. 21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father’s who sent me.
25 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. 28 You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me, 31 but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here. (ESV)

18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
HE will come to US. He meets us where we are.
31 but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what My Father has commanded Me.
This must ring true for ME, TOO.
ELLO… I read
I like verse 15,”If you love me, you will obey what I command.”
I like this verse because it puts down the thoughts of if you just say a prayer then you will be saved and you can go on living your life how you want to. It says if you love GOD then you will obey HIM which includes no idle chatter, respecting your parents, and no swearing or lying. I need to make sure that I love GOD and produce evidence of me loving HIM by obeying what HE tells me to do.
CYA
21Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”
When asked what was the greatest commandment, Jesus said in Matthew 22:36-37, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This verse in John answers the question, how do we love God? We love God by obeying his commandments. That means I need to try and obey God’s Word with all my heart, soul, and mind. That means I need to make sure I am hearing his commands in Scripture on a daily basis by reading and studying the Word. Then, I need to do everything in my power to put the truths I’ve learned into practice, as well as, respond to any conviction felt from the Holy Spirit. That is how I can love God today!
John 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.”
John 14:16-18 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Hope, power and the only way out! Thank You Lord for the Holy Spirit You give for our life and godliness! Let me yield to Him in “the moment of choice” today and do what You say for Your glory! Please come soon!
9Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
10Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
11Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves..
Jesus was fully God and fully man. He knew everything that would happen. He even knew the hearts of each disciple. When he explained to them who he was this was hard for them to understand because even though they had walked with him and lived with him and seen him do many miracles they still didn’t fully put their trust in him.
In these few verses he repeats the phrase I am in the Father and the Father is in me over 5 times. This turth is the core of the christian faith. That Jesus was God. By saying that the Father was in him he was saying he was the Father they are the same person. This is what separates christianity from all other religions . We believe that Jesus is God. Let us not forget who Christ is. he is our savior but he is also Immanuel God with us.
Phillipians 2
5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death
even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
In chapter 13 Jesus had told His disciples that He was leaving them and that they could not follow Him to where He was going. That was a huge shock and disappointment to them. These verses are meant to comfort the disciples and tell them that they will not be left as orphans after Jesus’ departure. He is telling them that they will receive the Holy Spirit, in Greek the word is parakletos. It describes someone who is called alongside someone else to render beneficial services. As Christians we are not alone in this fallen world. Once saved we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit who leads us, guides us, comforts us, intercedes in prayer for us, etc. Today I am thankful for the gift of the Holy Spirit. No matter how tough it gets in this life to fight my sin and stay true to God and His Word I know that I can do it through the power of God’s Spirit, who lives in me.
10Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
I want this to be happening in me!! i want the Lord to be so in by life and the holy spirit in me that its doing it’s work THROUGH me on the earth! thats so incredible
24He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
wow. this is such a strong message! every time we dissobey God’s teaching, we are showing Him how much we do or don’t love Him. I want to show Him that i love Him alll the time! I need to remember this everyday and read His commands daily too!
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
This is a great reminder of the truth…Jesus is the ONLY way to be saved. So many people today are convinced that God will let them into Heaven because they are “decent” people, “good” people, or because God’s just a nice guy. We need to be sure to tell people the truth–no one will come to the Father except through faith in Jesus the Christ.
15″If you love me, you will obey what I command.
i remember a sermon that Pastor Pete preached (i think it was Revival 08) and he went to this passage. he explained how this point was so important, because Jesus mentions it so many times within the chapter. if we claim to follow Jesus and claim to love Him, and we do not obey what He commands, how can we say we follow Him or love Him? the Christians who actually loves Christ and is saved will obey God. for some, this should be convicting and worrying. but for others, this is very encouraging! if we are obeying Christ, our good works are proof that we are saved and that we truly love Christ! i pray that the love for Christ that i have would spur me on to greater acts of love for others, and that my life would be pleasing to Him. i need to choose God over sin, and be encouraged that i am saved because of my good works.
14You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
so many people have skewed interpretation of this verse. just because we say “in Jesus’ Name, Amen” doesnt mean that it will happen. rather Jesus says in verse 13 that He will answer any prayer if it is for god’s glory according to His will. this verse is also very encouraging. it means that if we pray for something for God’s glory, with a proper, faithful heart, He will grant it! we at True North need to be praying for a revival within True North, but also at our schools! praying for a revival is for God’s glory, and we have had an awesome year so far with campus lunches. lets be praying every day for a revival at our schools, and that people would be saved by God! i need to be praying everyday for a revival at my school, as well as for lost friends. this verse gives an example of the awesome power of prayer, and i pray that i would be disciplined and motivated to be praying for things for God’s glory all the time!
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
BaaaaBOOOOOOOMMM…..way truth life…..salvation is through Christ alone….the only way we can know the Father is through knowing the Son….This verse makes it obvious that there is no other way to be saved…no other truth about salvation…and no other way to truly find life but in Christ… Praise God for revealing himself to us and giving his gift of salvation!
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus is the only way for salvation. I was listening to a message by a pastor yesterday on the radio and he was talking about all these statistics about people who said that they were Christians but they believed in astrology, that all religions are the same, etc. But that’s not right. Jesus clearly states that He is the only way to come through the father and eternal life.
21Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”
mhmm. This is the proof if we love God by obeying His comands. Even though a lot of people claim that they do love God but set a double standard by disobeying His commands or just ignoring/overlooking them. God gave us commands, not suggestions. If we love God, it makes sense to obey His commands and He will show Himself and His love to us
1″Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
What a great way to start this Chapter off.
Proverbs 3:5-6. Trust in the LORD with all your heart!
1 Peter 5:7: Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Don’t worry, don’t be troubled but trust God. I feel like when a test comes up or who knows what, I get nervous or anxious and forget to tell God all things. I need to rely more on God and less on myself. All things are possible with God. Matthew 19:26 and Mark 10:27 Jesus tells us this. In my weakness God can give me strength when I call on Him in prayer. Philippians 4:13.
I want to be strong in the LORD and trust Him with all my life and never fall away, like teh man in Luke 8:23. Praise the LORD for He is GOOD and His LOVE endures FOREVER!!!
***GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHEST! WHO WAS AND IS AND IS TO COME!!!***
John 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.”
Jesus’ followers, at this time, were very worried. The one they evidently knew was the promised Messiah, Jesus, was now saying that he was going to die, and then rise again three days later. Death would be a problem for their hoped leader from bondage from sin. Not only that but they cannot come with him when he leaves. They fear Jesus will die and never come back.
Jesus reassures them: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.”
Did Jesus abandon us in his assent to Heaven? No, He has given us something even greater—the Holy Spirit—our counselor, helper, and advocate. And Jesus is preparing us a place (pretty legit). Now we must obey his commands, being watchful for his return, and as the verse above says: trust in him.
There is nothing that should worry us anymore! The Holy Spirit inside us assures us that the hope we hold onto will never rust or fade. I will always be able to rely on the hope that I will have eternal life. I never need to fear death because I have a sure hope that even though I die, I will live, in Christ.
1″Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
2In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
4You know the way to the place where I am going.”
18I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
whenever there is a time that i am “troubled” or upset or angry or whatever…there is one solution, Trust In God. and i tend to not do that, become troubled, and worry. I need to work on putting my faith and whole self in God and trusting that He is in everything and will never leave me along.
It is really comforting to me when He says “i will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where i am” I love that, because it just gives me a sense of peace and comfort, knowing that he is coming back! and i get to go with him! He will not leave us behind, he will come back for us.
back from Palm Springs =)
1″Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
This is such an encouraging verse, especially for those of us planning on going to college next year. It is an overwhelming time with school and other stuff that makes us busy, but God assures us to trust in him. He is in control of our lives and we never need to worry because Jesus Christ is always with us.
9Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
This is a great verse to bring up when talking to Mormons or Jehova’s Witnesses. They claim that Jesus is just a god, not God. They also say that Jesus and God are one in their motivations and goals, but not one being.. but this verse is very clear. Anyone who has seen Jesus has seen the Father.. CLEARLY Jesus and the Father are the same, they are God. I will definitely use this verse in the future!
PRAISE THE LORD!!! MARANATHA!!!!
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
This verse is so well know but so CRUCIAL to the Christian life. Jesus is THE way THE truth and THE life. There is NO OTHER way to God but through Christ. People think we are unfair or intolerant for believing this…but it was Jesus who said it, we didn’t make it up. I also need to remember that I approach God only through Jesus. Nothing I do makes me more acceptable before God. Praise God for providing a way for me to be reconciled with Him.
23Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
If anybody LOVES the Lord they will automatically OBEY. God’s love is so awesome and before now i didn’t really understand it’s importance! Loving Jesus leads to us obeying Him and potentially sharing the gospel, serving others, and becoming faithful and true servants of the Lord. When I go to heaven I want to hear my Father say to me, “Well done good and faithful servant.” not “eh..you did ok.” I’m going to start loving the Lord with my WHOLE heart, mind and soul…right now!!
23 Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
We claim to love God, but actions speak louder than words. Jesus says that if we claim to love him, then we will do what He says. Who cares what people view you as…the only thing that matters is what God thinks of you. I want the Father to love me, so im going to do what He says.
2In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
PRAISE GOD He has promised us a place in heaven as His children!! MARANATHA!!
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus is Lord!! Jesus wasn’t just a prophet who did many miracles; He was the perfect sacrifice for the atonement of our sins!! Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved!! (Awesome AWANA verse! ;D) Praise to Jesus Christ in heaven!!
15 “If you love me, you will obey what I command.
I agree with Cameron on this one! If you claim to be a follower of Christ, then you will live for him and obey his commands! In my perspective, if God is important to me, then I will do what he commands because I seek to please him and glorify him… not because its expected since I am a Christian! The sacrifice that Jesus mad on the cross and all the love he showered means everything! I want to live for the Lord and obey him in all I do. If I say I love the Lord, than I will obey his commands and act more and more Christ-like (:
Praise God for all he has done! I am so blessed!
haha Meisha….
27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
This verse in itself always gives me peace, but not just that. It’s so true how Christ gives me this peace that no one will understand unless they also have Christ. It’s something that I’ll always be grateful for!! It’s a peace that passes understanding…It’s a peace that can make me cry! I just love the Lord and all that He does in my life. At times, I do need to be reminded of who God is but once I am, it’s like a stresss just goes away and becomes nothing. Thank you Jesus! MARANATHA!
1″Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
This is just such a great verse because we should always be trusting in God. This reminds me of Job, who always trusted in God when Job was put through all of the tests of God. I pray that I could be like Job, always trusting and praising God, no matter what is going on in life.
15″If you love me, you will obey what I command.
Lots of love in this chapter haha!! I find this verse comforting but also hard to live up to because of course we are no where near perfect; so it’s impossible to always live up to God’s standards. But that is no excuse for not trying! We need to obey God’s commands and do what he says because first of all, thats what he told us and second, it shows we love him:) If other people see us following God’s commands, they should see something different about us, in a good way!
1″Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
This is a good verse to remember for when your scared or stressed because it really just show how He is always there for you, any time and any where.
26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid
Just as Moses and God told Joshua to be strong and courageous and not to be afraid before the Israelites entered into the promise land, God has instructed us not to be afraid.
Therefore, in these perilous times regarding men’s souls let us be strong and courageous and not afraid to witness our convictions and our faith.
3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—17the Spirit of truth.
Its great to know how much Jesus loves us and wants to be with us. When he left to go to Heaven he made sure to leave us with the Holy Spirit to guide us as another act of his love and to show us he will not abandon us.
26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
During the Christmas season it’s so great to be able to celebrate the incomparable gift our God gave us in His son, Jesus Christ. But in this chapter Jesus tells the disciples about another amazing gift we’ve been given–the gift of the Holy Spirit. It’s such a comfort to know that the Holy Spirit is in me, prompting and guiding me so that I might bring glory to God. I’m so thankful that we are not, as Jesus reassures the disciples, left as orphans. Thank you so much Lord for that gift. I pray that I will rely on the Holy Spirit and be sensitive to His promptings.
Such an epic chapter with Jesus throwing out big concepts like the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, and his second coming. I really liked verse 12 though and it got me thinking about our duty as Christians: “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” Jesus’ whole perfect life was dedicated to the preaching of repentance (obviously) but he says that those who have faith in Him-most of us at True North- will do even greater things! Yeah Jesus was perfect, but rest assured we should be rethinking our excitement to share the Gospel and “do even greater things than these.” I need to step it up in loving one another and sharing the Gospel with my actions!
Maranatha!!!!!!!!!!!!
15″If you love me, you will obey what I command.
If you truly love the Lord and are truly a follower of the Lord, you will want to obey what the Lord tells you to do. As a Christian I need to make sure that I am obeying what the Lord has to say and that my life is lived out by the Lords commands. I need to show that I have a love knowing no bounds whem it comes to loving the Lord.
26But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
We seriously need more posters. Really. This verse is great because it is JESUS basically telling us not to worry. Many Christians try to go through the Christian walk alone, and do not rely on GOD as much as they should, but JESUS gave us everything we need.
27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
This reminds me of Philippians 4:6-7 and 1 Peter 3:3-4! And I realize that the second one seems like a pretty big stretch hahaha but I cannot get out of my head what Christa said in one of the workshops at Revival when she used the 1 Peter reference that says that women of God should be characterized by gentle and quiet spirits…and that means that we have compassion and a peacefulness (there’s the connection haha)- an assurance that no matter what happens, it will all be okay. God sees beauty when we trust in Him and DON’T freak out about earthly trials and have that PEACE that he left with us. Christians can have this peace that the world will NEVER get to experience… the only “world peace” that will ever come is that when sin is gone forever and Jesus reigns! I can’t wait for that day!!! MARANATHA!!
People can either love Jesus, or not love Jesus. And their actions and life will reflect those two choices.
23 If anyone loves me, he will keep my word…
24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words…
As the saying goes, actions speak louder than words. I will let the world know that I am a disciple of Jesus by loving him; and I will do that through keeping his word. I know this is a difficult thing to do, but not everything in life is easy. However, I rejoice in the face I will not have to conquer this task on my own. God will send the Holy Spirit to help me on my way of pursuing a holy life.
God Bless!!
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
I love this verse! Its so straightforward, Jesus is the only way to get to heaven. So many people think that trying to live a good life is enough, but its not! Even the best thing we could do on earth still would not be enough to get someone into heaven. This verse is like the perfect one to point out in evangelism, especially when people mistakenly believe that there are alternative ways to get to heaven.
23Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
24He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
The main theme I was feeling from this chapter is if you love Jesus you will keep his commands. There will be obedience in a genuine Christian’s life! This isn’t some higher standard we are making up at True North, this is straight up what Jesus said! This makes me want to take a look at my life and see if I am really being obedient in every area. Also, I want to teach others to obey everything that Jesus has commanded as it tells us to in the Great Commission. I want to obey!
So excited to see everyone at True North this weekend!
15″If you love me, you will obey what I command.
Being a Christian revolves around love. everything external is based off of a love for God and what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross. i need to work on my love, i need to make sure that everythingf i do is out of love, spesificaly on how i treat others. i need to make sure that if my actions dont resemble love i need to stop.
MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Jesus said these verses intending for us to be hoping for Heaven. Revelation is an awesome book to read that gives me insight on what the new earth will be like someday, and I so look forward to that! One day Jesus will reign on earth and there will be no more sin. I will no longer have the constant battle against sin and I will be with Jesus forever. But my life also needs to show that I am looking forward to it. I need to not get too attached to the things of this world, but rather store up myself treasures in Heaven.
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
It is so easy for me to file this verse away in my “Jesus is the only way” file without really taking time to let the rich truth of this verse sink in!
Jesus is the way! He is the one we need to follow! One part of his example he just talked about was loving each other.
Jesus is the truth! He is the one we need to listen to! His teachings are not just good ideas, they are Truth with a capital T!
Jesus is the life! He is one where we find real joy and satisfaction. Life was meant to be lived in relationship with God, and through Jesus this is possible!
Psyched to be back at True North this weekend!
7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.
Here’s proof that Jesus is God. This is some of the proof of the trinity. Jesus isn’t one in purpose with the Father, he is God, and the Father is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. We can’t fully understand it as there is only one God and they are all God, like three distinct personalities in a way, but it still means that Jesus is God and that we should worship Him. So what does this mean? This means that those who trust in Christ are fully forgiven and don’t have to do works to save themselves because no one can. Lord, let me continually trust in you and show my love for you by obeying your commands. Amen.
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
This is incredible! God gives us his Spirit to be with us always and forever and to even be inside of us! One time Beth was teaching on the Holy Spirit and I like how she said this idea is shocking. What a priveledge and continual comfort to know that he is with me. And it is also sobering to think that sometimes I ignore the Holy Spirit and don’t live like I have him right there guiding and convicting me, giving understanding of God’s Word and the words to speak to others to evangelize them! I’m thankful to have read this today!
28″You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
29I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.
30I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me,
I could honestly post on every single verse. There’s so many to chose from! But these stood out to me. For me, one of the incredible things about the bible is the fact that God explicitly tells us how our lives will end. God didn’t use a hollywood cliff hanger to make us guess how the world will end. He gave us explicit instructions what will happen and why. For that reason, I have nothing to hold me back from wanting to go to heaven!!! I know that when my time on earth is served I will be at home with the LORD forever. The ruined world will be destroyed and a New Jerusalem that is pure will be our new home!!! This is soooooo exciting!!!!!!!!!!!
I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus was not a prophet who pointed to the truth or pointed to the way to salvation. Jesus is the WAY, TRUTH, and LIFE. Jesus did not come like the Old Testament prophets or like John the Baptist who constantly looked forward to the savior, rather Christ IS the one and only Savior. Jesus’ statement of redemption resting ONLY in Him wipes away any other proposed way to heaven, whether that is good works, religious traditions, being a pretty “good” person, or anything else. There is only one way, and that way is Jesus Christ. The Bible is so clear and it is such a blessing to read it!
15″If you love me, you will obey what I command.
this is so true and should be changing lives daily. God wants us to love Him through us obeying what He says. many people take the laws of the state seriously like do not murder ect, but they do it because of the fear of punishment from humans. i want to be following Gods laws because He wants me to so that i can glorify Him in my actions
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
I think that this verse really points out who Jesus was and if you truly give your life to him then you will get the reward of eternal life! With many of todays fake “Gods” many people are making new ways to get to heaven or how many different levels of heaven there are. When really there is only ONE heaven and only ONE way to get there. And that is through Jesus Christ ONLY!
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
While the world wants us to think that all roads lead to God, this verse is perfectly clear: Jesus Christ is the one way. One does not come to the Father by their own merits and good deeds, but through the Savior Jesus Christ! Any other attempts at salvation are meaningless. I need to make sure that I am spreading this important truth to the world!
hoollaaa!
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me—I love this chapter becuase it talks about how if we love the Father than we will obey his commands and follow him! I definitely need to be working on listening to whatever he says and applying it to my life. God’s commands and plan for my life is all I need! He created me and he knows where I am going and what’s best for me. I need have complete faith in him that whatever situation I am in I just need to listen to God and know that he will do what’s best for me! I will be praying that I let God use me for whatever he wants and whatever will bring glory to him. It’s all about God!
MARANATHA!!
stoked for true north this weekend! finaallyyy!
13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.
14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
WHen the disciples asked Jesus how to pray, he taught them how to correctly center the focus of their prayers. The first 3 requests in the Lord’s Prayer have nothing to do with us and everything to do with God:
1. That His Name would be glorified
2. That His kingdom would come
3. That His will would be done
These, then, are the things that we need to ask in Jesus’ name. The second request we already know, but when we pray MARANATHA we need to mean it, desiring absolutely nothing as much as to be with Jesus in the absence of sin. But when we pray for God to be glorified, it is often much more vague, merely a phrase that we throw onto prayers like the way many people always start with “thank you for this day” without thinking about it. We cannot pray for God to be glorified and then sit back and do nothing; rather, it is a plea for God to give us the strength and opportunities to bring Him glory through our lives. Which brings us to the third point, that His will be done. Jesus made it very clear what the Father’s will was, when He commanded us to go make disciples of all nations in Matthew 28. The Father wants everyone to repent (2 Peter 3:9), and our mission as His ambassadors is to be preaching the Word to everyone we come into contact with. And here, in one of His final moments with His disciples, He promises that if we ask these things in His name, they will be done. This promise os huge motivation for me to be praying daily for revival at LHHS and across the high schools of Orange County, and that I would be ever more bold in proclaiming the Truth!
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
What an amazing chapter!!!! THis verse is so great and teaches me so many things. THe ONLY way to get to the Father and to Heaven is through the work of Jesus. He sacrificed his life for us so that we could be free from sin and join him and the Father in heaven someday. He is the way, the truth, and the life! I cannot have my way and decide to occasionally follow Jesus. I must follow him all the days of my life so i go down the right path which will eventually lead me to eternity in Heaven! I can only get to heaven ONE WAY! THere are no other shortcuts or sinful paths that i can take. It is ONLY through Jesus Christ and i praise him for that<3
I read…
I liked verse 27… Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
In this verse, Jesus reassures His disciples. He gives them the encouragement they need to get through the trials they are about to face. Sometimes in our lives, we need a few verses to come to when we are down. I think this is a great verse to encourage us throughout our lives
2In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
okay im not actually doing a legit post on this verse… but THIS IS SO EXCITINGG!!!!!! THIS VERSE PUMPS ME UP!! Jesus is preparing a room in heaven for ME!!! okay.. anyways
…
15″If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
This is also really cool!! When Jesus left, he gave us the Holy Spirit to be with us if we are really in Christ! i really think its cool when it says “but you know him”. Jesus is saying that the world doestn know the Holy Spirit. But we do! Because as Christians, we are not of this world! Our home is in heaven, and that is where we belong! I cannot wait until Christ returns for me and for all of those who trust in him! MARANATHA!
26But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
It is so awesome that God has given us his spirit to live within us, convict us, and teach us!
3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
AH! this makes me so excited for Jesus to come back so that I can spend eternity in the place he has prepared for me!!!! When Jesus returns, I want to be ready and have him finding me working for his kingdom! He could come at any time so i need to be ready!! MARANATHA!!!
1″Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
The first verse stood out to me tonight! It’s been a hectic winter break but I am constantly reminding myself that I need to trust in God! What a great reminder =)
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus is the ONLY way to get to heaven. We all need a savior and Jesus is it! People think they can get to heaven by just “being good” or loving God, but if you don’t believe that you need Jesus, there is a problem. It says it clearly in this verse that to get to God we need to go through Jesus! I am so thankful for the cross and for everything that Jesus has done for us <3
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. ”
There is no relative truth here–there can’t be multiple ways to get to heaven–because only in Jesus do we find the ultimate payment for our sins. Without this redemption, we can only squander in sin until death, where we are inevitably overcome by it.
And so we should be grateful in this gift God has provided us.
21Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”
As Christians we definitely need to be good examples to others. We should be wanting to live so much like Jesus Christ that other people should think that guy loves Jesus Christ. He must be a Christian! He must really love God!! That would be so encouraging to hear that from somebody because of my actions. God has given us commandments and not suggestions and he wants us to obey them, and he will most definitely love us for that!!! We can most likely tell who really loves God by the actions in a persons walk with God.
John 14
15 “If you love me, you will obey what I command.
23 Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
24 He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
What a powerful chapter showing us Jesus submission and obedience to the Father. Two times we hear Jesus say that if you love Me you will obey my teaching. Christ demo.nstrated for us His love for the Father by obeying the will of the Father by His sacrifice on the cross. If the Spirit is in us we will be compelled by the Spirit to obey God’s will. I pray that we are examining our lives often to make sure that we are being obedient to the Word of God. If we are trapped by sin in our life we are separated from God by the sin that has overcome us. This chapter gives us great confidence in our salvation thru Jesus Christ.
1st John 2:3-5 3 We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. 4 The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him:
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
I just want to say this verse says it all! one of the best verses in the bible and so important becasue so many religions get it wrong because they skip this verse! Great verse, i know its original but still one of my favs!
There are so many verses in this chapter about Jesus not leaving us alone, “orphans”, and Him giving us peace and telling us not to worry. I’ve been working on worries for awhile…..and while I do tend to stop worrying….it’s still not good enough. I pray that I will continue to improve in this area so that I am listening to Jesus.
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
It’s so important for people to know this and so sad that barely anyone believes that there are other ways to get to heaven. people need to know this, and it is a Christian’s duty to tell them.
6Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
This is such an important verse! Its amazing to hear all the different beliefs of people and the different ways they think they will enter the Kingdom of God or whatever they believe in. It is so important to share this verse with others and study different reasons for why this verse is so true. I know that when i evanglelize, i get hit with so many different questions. It is so important to know how to respond to them and the only way to do that, is to fill my head with the knowledge of the word of God. So many people believe that they are saved based off their actions…it is my job as a child of God to deliver the correct message and to plant the seed in their lives. I pray that God will give me more opportunities to spread the Truth! He deserves all the glory!
MARANATHA!
21Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.”
We need to obey Gods commands He commands us to go out and share His word and we shall do that even though its scary you don’t know how the person might react we have to do it God will be by us the whole time guiding us.
