13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

I really like this verse...why hide sin that God already know...if we confess our sin he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sin and purify us from all unrightousness...God says it, so it will happen. What gain do we have by concealing it? none!

oh by the way I just made my own music myspace (there are no songs on it yet but there should be in a week or two) so if you would like to and have the chance check it out

there were three verses that really stood out to me in this chapter.

9 If anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayers are detestable.

when i read this verse i thought about people at my school who say sorry to God knowing they are just going to be taking part in that same sin again and they are not really sorry. so God will not listen to the prayers of those who are not legitamately sorry for what they have done.

17 A man tormented by the guilt of murder will be a fugitive till death; let no one support him.

18 He whose walk is blameless is kept safe, but he whose ways are perverse will suddenly fall.

a sinners conscience will drive him into guilt resulting in repentance of his sins and shoosing to have faith in God or drive him to death. but obviously the more guilt there may be the person might be more likely to turn to Christ. we as Christians can not comfort those who sin because it will become easier for them to continue sinning and possibly never turn to God.

1 The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

I read this proverb this morning and then this verse came to my mind later in the day. I think that the difference a lot of times between doing right and wrong comes down to confidence. If I know that I am right with God it will give me great boldness in doing things for him. I will go up to other people boldly. I will push past my own feelings boldly. But if I do not have confidence in my relationship with God I will be weak. I won't want to approach others. I will second guess myself and think I should trust my own emotions. Righteousness is so important. We need to be walking rightly with our God every day. Seriously, don't leave home without it!

26.) He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

We cannot be trusting in our own power to do something but we need to be constantly relying on God and asking for wisdom to deal with situations in our lives.

4 Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist them.

I agree with Austin on this verse. Whenever we break God's law, we are aligning ourselves with the wicked. While we may not be praising them with our mouths, our actions make us hypocrites and show that we do not really care about living for Christ. We need to have a desire to serve the Lord and a fear of His judgement that motivates us to resist evil and do what is right.

27 He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses.
This just reminded me of this great event that I witnessed today! One of the people from our church, lets call him Bob, was asking a couple of ppl., lets call them Maria and Stephanie, if they were going to the New Year's event. They said maybe, probably not. Bob asked why? Maria responded, not enough money to pay for it. Bob looks at Maria, and goes, Oh, well I can always take you two! Maria goes, it's ok, you don't have to do that for us, and they leave. Later, a man finds the two girls and goes, "a gift from Bob" and it was two tickets to the New Year's event! There is a great reward waiting for Bob both here, and on Heaven! AND thinking about Bob's life, he really doesn't lack anything because he's got Jesus in His life, and He provides everything for Bob. What a blessing to have fellow Christians in your life! :D

13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Great promise, definitely has and always will supply me with an abundant supply of faith that keeps me on the strait path that leads to life. As people we have a problem called sin that leads to death, but because of God's grace and mercy we can be confident that our sins will be forgiven if we faithfully confess and renounce them. Since our sins have been forgiven we can forever live in the grace of God passing through the gates of life eventually dwelling on the new earth with our glorious and holy Father. Amen!!
Maranatha!! (O come Lord Jesus)
Living in the grace of God and, having a child-like faith only increases my joy in Him who works out everything for the good of those who love him, and are called according to his purpose.

23 He who rebukes a man will in the end gain more favor than he who has a flattering tongue.

This verse is especially hard with close friends. It's easy just to go with the flow and hang out, but it's hard to tell someone that they are doing something wrong, expecially someone whom you love. If you do this though they will feel gratitude and respect/love you more.

13He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

if we sin we have to learn from it, confess it, and move on. if we just keep them inside us , it won't help. we have to confess our sins to God, so He can help us with our problems. we should fear committing the sins rather than telling Him, because He knows everything we do in our life, we can't hide anything.

13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy

This is a hard one but very beneficial. I have noticed that when someone asks you, "how have you been doing...." on a specific sin, in your mind you're like, "Ok, I'm never going to do this sin anymore and I'll just lie" And then the next day, you fall. God wants us to confess our sins.

13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

For this very reason, we have Accountablity partners; So that we can confess our sins to others and learn how to stay away from them. If we do not confess, we will fall back into that sin over and over again.

26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

this is a really good verse for us high schoolers. Often it is really easy to just trust in ourselves and think that we are good enough to conquer everything in our life. But that is not the case at all. We can not at all do anything without the help of God we are nothing without his help. We need to make sure that we are not trusting in our own strength our power to get out of sins or hard times in our lifes we need to trust 100% in God and his power to help us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

The first step to getting rid of sin in our lives is to acknowledge it. If we try to conceal it from others and more importantly from ourselves then we will not be able to defeat it. This verse reminds me of David, although he commited a great sin God had mercy on his repentant heart. I agree with Beth, we need to get rid of our sins whatever it takes. We need to make sure that we have a repentant and obedient heart, so that our lives can be pleasing to GOd.

26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

This is a lesson that i have learned more then once. I have learned that trusting in myself is truly foolish and prideful, to think that I have better judgement and control over my life then a all powerful soverign God. We need to be trusting in God in every area of our lives 24/7

13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Sometimes it can be hard to confess our sins or get help to get out of the sin pattern, but this verse says it has to be done. We rely on the grace and mercy of God, and that means we can't hide anything from Him.

14 Blessed is the man who always fears the LORD, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.

This is a good reminder to not let your heart get hardened to the word of God. If we read the Bible every day and seek God's will, confessing our sins, we can keep from getting hard-hearted. And when we read about him in his word, we can't help but fear him.

20 A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.

It's interesting how it says that those who seek wealth will be poor and punished, and those who don't will be blessed. Wealth and temporary satisfaction doesn't last, and we shouldn't be seeking it. But when we seek God, He will take care of us. We may not be living the most expensive lifestyle, but it will be so much more fulfilling than anything money can buy. We need to be checking our hearts constantly to see if we are seeking ourselves, because its very easy to get distracted by the things of this world, and start seeking God alone because riches pass away and leave us empty but the Word of the Lord last forever.

I'm sorry for what my brother Trevor posted under my name. Just disregard that.

26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

If we try to do something only by relying on our own strenght or knowlegde, it's going to end up failing. And if we do that we are being foolish. We can't rely on ourselves alone, because nothing good will come from that. We should be wise as it advises in this verse, saying we will be kept safe if we don't rely on our own strength or understanding.

25 A greedy man stirs up dissension, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper. 26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

If we have greed in our heart we will not prosper in heaven but on Earth. If we trust in the Lord we will gain somewhat on Earth and much in Heaven which is the most important. If we just trust ourselves and not put faith in God then we are fools. We need to be faithful to God and trust in Him at all times. God's plan is perfect and even if we think He's is putting us through a tough trial, He is doing it to help us grow in the long run.

26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

i have been trying to apply this to my life....to give everything to God and put all my matters inhis hands instead of taking on the world all by myself. When we give our stress to God it amazes me how much peace and relief you can get. Sometimes we dont even realize we are keeping things from God, but when we give it all up to Him, everything works out for the better.

Romans 12:11 Never belacking inzeal, but keep your spiritual fervor serving the Lord

18 He whose walk is blameless is kept safe, but he whose ways are perverse will suddenly fall.

Just reminds me of judgment day where God will judge the world for it's sin, and us Christians, followers of Christ will be kept safe because the blood of Christ which because of His great love and who is rich in mercy sacrificed himself for our sin so that we would not have to be in punishment for all eternity. Reminds me of David when he called the Lord his refuge and shield. Also Reminds me of when the Lord's hand was heavy on the Israelites because they had forsaken him that they would fall into bad times of trouble like being slaves in Egypt Lord and how they were handed over to their enemies and they would cry out to the Lord to save them and He would do it every time.

13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Amen, Old Man! The thing that stood out to me in verse 13 was the part that said we not only have to confess our sins, but we have to renounce them. Renounce means to give up or put aside voluntarily; to disown. Do we really have this attitude about our sin? Yes, we might confess it, but do we really hate it to the point where we are willingly letting it go? This verse challenges me not to just confess my sins with my mouth, but to be sure that I am turning from my sin with a heart that is focussed on obeying Christ. As 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."...now that is merciful of God!

1 The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

The "wicked man" fears without any cause. People like to call this"paranoia", but notice that this fearful-fleeing-with-no-one-chasing is caused by guilt, it is the "wicked" who is fleeing. He has done wicked things and is now looking over his shoulder, but the righteous man has been living for what is right, so his conscience is clear, he has nothing to fear!

God wants us to be in the humble position to admit our sin and turn from them. I want to be in the position of blessing through humbleness and get His mercy!

4 Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist them.

5 Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it fully.

Haha, First!! I beat Chewy!! Anyway, this verse shows us that if we do things wrong we are approving the pagans way of life. So, something as simple as disobeying parents makes us not representatives of Christ but of Satan. And we who seek Christ must understand AND obey the law.
