25 When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” 26 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. 27 Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” 28 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” 30 So they said to him, “Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” 32 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”
35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
41 So the Jews grumbled about him, because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” 42 They said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does he now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” 43 Jesus answered them, “Do not grumble among yourselves. 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me— 46 not that anyone has seen the Father except he who is from God; he has seen the Father. 47 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. 50 This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
52 The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” 53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. 55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” 59 Jesus said these things in the synagogue, as he taught at Capernaum.
The Words of Eternal Life
60 When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” 61 But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Do you take offense at this? 62 Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.) 65 And he said, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.”
66 After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. 67 So Jesus said to the Twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, 69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” 70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the Twelve? And yet one of you is a devil.” 71 He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the Twelve, was going to betray him. (ESV)

35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
This whole passage is amazing, but this verse stood out to me a lot. Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation, and true contentment and satisfaction comes from him and him alone! There are no good works or anything that can save you except for Christ! He chose us, we didn’t choose him! I love how if we draw near to the Lord and repent of our sins and put our faith in him, that we will never go hungry or thirst! God’s promises are so true and so awesome! I learned to never doubt God and what he can do because he is the definition of perfect. I have the good news of Christ, and I do not want other people to go hungry or thirst without the Lord because I did not talk to them and share the gospel! Especially since its almost Christmas, I need to continue to talk to people about the sacrifice that God has made on the cross! Praise God, I am so blessed!
66From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.
67″You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.
68Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
69We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”
it’s amazing that people who called themselves (& John called them) disciples turned away because of his hard teachings. Just when Jesus starts getting a large following, he often teaches/says something uber-controversial or offensive & whittles his followers down to a skeleton crew. The TRUE followers/believers/disciples respond as Peter: HOW CAN we go anywhere else? It’s almost like they/we have no choice but to follow & thirst for his words of life.
Ryan, a scary bird’s eye view of this skeleton crew and people who turn because the teachings and life of obedience is hard, is evidenced, at least in metaphor, right here on our very own SOTD, sad to say…
This second half of John 6 is incredibly comforting to true believers:
37 ‘ALL that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and whoever comes to Me I will NEVER drive away.’
If we have saving faith–not faith that initially takes root and we seem to be legitimate disciples, as even the ones referenced by John in this chapter–then there truly is NOTHING that can drive us away from Him.
That is so true ryan cox we need to be asking God how can I go anywhere else and I need to thirst for his words of life.
44″No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.
This is the only way to get eternal life so I am glad I got it and need to tell people.
67″You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.
68Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
Many of the disciples have just turned back and left from following after Jesus. Jesus then turns to His twelve, and is asking them if they, too, are going to turn around and leave. Peter replies that they don’t have anywhere else where they would rather go, for Jesus holds the words of eternal life. This is a strong statement that sadly most people wouldn’t be willing to say. Many would turn back; many would wish for the comforts of their own homes; many would wish to be done with having to travel and move around continually; many would give up on following Christ because they may think it to be hard and difficult. But Peter sets the example in this verse. There truly is no better place to turn to and go to on this world than the place of following after Christ. And all the material wealth can be counted as lost when compared to the eternal truth found in God’s Word. I need to always keep a strong and firm attitude in following Christ, that I’m committed to living for Him. And it’s not just because the Bible tells me to, but I know that living for God is worth it!
63The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.
Our bodies in this world count for NOTHING. God does not care about our appearances or our popularity or our talents and achievements, so why are we sometimes so consumed in them. What matters is our spiritual lives, not the lives that give brief pleasure that will soon pass away.
35Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
Following Christ is the only thing that truly satisfies the soul. We can try to fill our lives with a myriad of other things but they will only leave us empty. All of us can testify to this by experience. Because this is true there is nothing I should desire pursuing more than my relationship with Christ.
66From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. 67″You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve. 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”
The same exact thing stood out to me this morning, Ryan Cox! I was thinking how intense it was that some of the very people who were called disciples and followed Jesus everywhere eventually turned their backs on Him. That means their initial faith was not legit, and they were only following Jesus due to the benefits He gave like healing and multiplying food. As soon as Jesus’ teaching began to be difficult they bailed on Him. This same thing happens today. So many people who call themselves Christians have had an emotional response at some crusade or church camp, but as time goes on they fall away. They like the thought of being forgiven of their sin, avoiding hell, and having eternal life, but as soon as they realize that being a Christian is difficult, that it will cost them all they have, they go back to their old, sinful ways. This means that they were never really Christians at all. True Christians stay disciples of Christ all their lives and have the attitude of Peter who says in verses 68-69 that Jesus is God and there is no where else they would go other than with Him. It is my prayer today that no one at True North would succumb to the unbelief like some of Jesus’ earliest disciples. I will be praying that we can all pray, stay & obey so that we never forsake God!
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty”
I can totally relate to this verse because before I became a Christian I didnt know what I was living for. I was hungry for a purpose to live. I had no satisfaction in the empty things I was doing and I wasnt living for God. When I became a Christian, my life has purpose. I now live to pursue the will of the LORD and seek to be at home with him in heaven. I think alot of non christians have that same empty feeling I had and we need to give their lives purpose by spreading the word!

Maranatha!!
60 On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”
In His teaching, Jesus wasn’t trying to turn people away; he was simply telling the truth without compromising. Yet the disciples’ response here is the same response that a lot of people have today when they learn what being a Christian is all about. Many people dabble in faith but don’t want to actually admit to and give up their sinful ways. Notice the contrast between the word “many” in this verse and “the twelve” in verse 67. That difference in number speaks to Jesus’ warning in Matthew 7:13. Not everyone will enter the kingdom of Heaven. When people turn their back on Jesus it’s because they don’t believe He will satisfy them like the world will, but as Jesus warns, the things of this world will not satisfy the spirit, and they certaunly won’t give the ultimate satisfaction–eternal life. Jesus is the bread of life. What He offers will not spoil. Through Him I will never go hungry, and I will never be thirsty.
44″No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.
Hmmmm so this verse has to do with predestination. It says that no one can come to Jesus until God draws us to him which is beyond our control by His irresistible grace. I cannot find God but God found me. Just like the disciples, they didn’t choose Jesus but Jesus choose them and they responded by following Him. I struggled with this topic and still do have a lot of questions about it but God finding and choosing me brings Him all the more glory. This is so humbling because I always ask myself Why me? I am such a sinner yet God has given me salvation. I am so blessed and lucky and want to share it with others. My calling and prayer is to follow Christ and bring Him glory until I see Him face to face!
27Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
Jesus draws a contrast between temporal things and eternal things. The worldly things that we get caught up in are going to spoil! They will not last forever. The bread of life, on the other hand, not only satisfies completely, it satisfies forever. This all makes the pursuit of Christ so worth it!
I hope we are all rejoicing in the Lord today, specifically in how he is the satisfying Bread of Life!
Amazing words from Jesus! John 6:35-36 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.
From Abram to us God wants us to turn and trust in Him alone. Life for those who do and death for everyone else. Ps 19 says everything we need to see in order to believe is right in front of us AND we have the bible. He’s ready! It’s time for us to share with someone today! Let God worry about whether or not the person we share with believes…
35Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
I love this verse because it shows how perfect ans satisfying the Lord is. This verse is just such an encouragement!!!
39And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.
i love this verse! it talks about how once we are saved, we will always be saved! Jesus says that He will lose none of those whom the Father has given Him; and that is all Christians! this should encourage us greatly! i know that no matter what, it is God who is in control of my salvation, and this verse along with many others teach that He will never let me go. this verse reminds me of the song “Never Let Go”. it is awesome to know that whatever is going on in my life, God will never let go. He is always good and is always there for me, even if i dont think He is. i pray that this verse would spur me on to confidence and more trust in God, and that i would rejoice and be happy all the time because God is AMAZING!
35Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
Jesus is all that truly satisfies. He is the only one, and only thing, that can fill our lives. Once he is in our lives, we no longer yearn for the things we used to, because He is our ultimate joy, just like Ben talked about yesterday.
35Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty
This verse is a good analogy of who God is and how if we take Him into our lives we will be with him forever where we will never be in pain:))
67″You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.
68Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
69We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”
This is great. A CHRISTIANS this should be our response. Our lives should be so focused around CHRIST that if we did not have him we would be utterly lost. GOD has eternal life, who else can promise this.
51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
We should be feeding on Christ wanting to know more and grow in him. To grow forever in heaven with him we should learn his teachings and want to know him and have a personel relationship with God.
Jesus said “I tell you the truth”
Throught the gospels this phrase is used over 50 times! Jesus has NEVER lied for He is perfect and great and all powerful! He guides us and lifts us up when we stumble! He will never lie to me or forsake me an dI love and praise His name for that! Glory be to God in the highest, who showed love, mercy, and compassion! Praise the LORD!!!
***GLORY TO GOD!!!***
52Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
53Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.
The teachers of the law and the Jews were confused by Jesus’ teachings. They thought Jesus had literally said for them to eat and drink of His body. They did not understand that He was telling them that in order to live, they must give their life to God. If we want to be with God, then we must trust in Him and have faith that His plan for us is the greatest we can have.
27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
This verse is clear: it is foolish to waste my time trying to achieve things for myself or get things while I am on earth. I shouldn’t be trying to become well liked by the world, but I should do everything I do in order to serve the LORD in heaven. That’s where the real food or treasure is. I can know and trust that even if I suffer sometimes because of my faith here on earth, it will be so worth it one day when I am in Heaven for eternity praising God! I hope that day comes soon! Maranatha!!!
This passage reminds me of the Matthew 5:6
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
According to Merriam Webster, the definition of blessed is, “of or enjoying happiness.”
When I read Jesus’ words, two sentences were of great importance to me.
John 6:27- “Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.”
The message Jesus is portraying to me is that I should be living my life for something greater than earthly things. He gives me the metaphor of not working for food that perishes, but food that leads to eternal life. As 1 Peter says, “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord remains forever.” Peter describes that flesh is like grass, meaning the flesh will perish, and things that my flesh desire will perish as well. He goes on to saying what will not perish, which is the food that leads to eternal life, the word of the Lord. Knowing this, I should store my treasures in heaven, not desiring things of the flesh, or the world, but on greater things that do not perish, and last forever.
John 6:35- “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
Now, Jesus claims that he is “the bread of life.” Just as bread, or food is necessary for life on earth; Jesus is necessary to have true life in heaven. Without him, there is no such thing as life. In Matthew 5, when it says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” I see it has Jesus is righteousness. Whoever hunger and thirst for Jesus, for righteousness, will be filled with Jesus, and all he has done for us on the cross.
Matthew 5:6, says we will be “blessed” if we seek righteousness, and that is pure truth right there. We will be blessed not with earthly treasures that will perish, but treasure in heaven that will last forever.
God Bless!!
68Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
69We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”
Mmm…there is some difficult stuff in this chapter, some stuff that’s been kinda hard for me to wrap my head around. Predestination (verse 65) and the eat my flesh and drink my blood stuff are both hard to understand, and they have caused SO many divisions among Christians. BUT, even though there are things about the Bible that don’t make complete sense to me, I know that this is the Word of God and that it is TRUE, so I can believe that it says. I love that Peter’s quote is one of the last things in this chapter because it puts everything into perspective… I know the truth, and I won’t leave it just because there are things about it that my silly little brain has trouble understanding. God is GOOD and everything here is here for a reason. I pray that God gives me wisdom and good judgement to understand all that He has to say!
38For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.
wow this verse sums up the sacrafice that Jesus made, he did not come here to do his will but the will of the father. how much different would you be if you did the will of God instead of your will, i need to make my will the same as Gods and you should to.
c u all 2010
35Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
I just love this verse because it really just shows how Christ is like food and how food is so important to keep us going,. Christ is also so important too, he is so necassary for true life.
38For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.
Even Jesus who is God humbled Himself in obedience to the Father’s will. That just convicts me of all the times I disobey God because Jesus obeyed Him at all times, yet He was God Himself and had all power. If I’m a small insignificant human, i should be serving all the more. LORD, thank you so much for your selflessness in coming down to obey the Father’s will to save me. I was so lost without you; but your love is so amazing. Please give me a selfless heart to serve you with my life as I should, because even you who are God humbled yourself to serve.
48I am the bread of life.
49Your forefathers ate the manna in the desert, yet they died.
50But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die.
51I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
These verses are so cool. Jesus restores us and He saves us from death. We are so blessed to have had a living sacrifice die for us for the sake of saving us from hell. It is amazing how Jesus says he is going to give of himself for the life of the world- and He does!! I am so thankful for His sacrifice. Without Jesus, I am nothing- i would be in hell, burning forever. But thank God for His mercy, because I now have the hope of life with Him for eternity!!!
MARANATHA!
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”
It is so important to feed our souls and not our worldly desires. I am so grateful that I have God to guide me and so thankful to Christ for paying for my sin–and I will crave him to fulfill me whenever I think I’m lacking in something. He is everything and nothing and no one can satisfy like he can. What’s even better is that he is everlasting prince of peace and will always be there for me to look to.
35Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
When I’m thinking about this verse the first thought that comes to mind is satisfication. When you are not thirsty or feel the need to drink something you are satisfied. When you are not hunger or even thinking about eating you are satisfied.
ELLO… I read
I like verses 34-35″”Sir,” they said, “from now on give us this bread.” Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”
I like this verse because GOD makes it obvious and easily believable for everyone to understand HIM. They ask a question and HE makes it obvious HE is talking about Himself. I need to be clear when I am sharing with others because if they don’t understand it then there isn’t much a point.
CYA
51I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
Thank you Jesus for lowering yourself to become a human (even a baby!), to live a perfect life, and give your life for all those who will believe. This Christmas I want to keep the amazed perspective–the big picture–You are the only way for people to be saved. It’s such a miracle that a helpless baby was born…in a stable of all places…and that He was God.
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”
This is important because Jesus is the only way to eternal life, and it is a n awesome opportinity. It is sad more people dont take advantage of it.
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
This verse stood out to me alot because it really does show that there is only ONE way to eternal life, and thats through Jesus Christ. And there is NO OTHER WAY! So we need to use this verse a show other non-christians so they can hear the good news because time is running out! :)
68Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
69We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”
I just found Simon Peter’s response fantastic!! After all those people left Jesus, the 11 faithful disciples were still willing to say that Jesus is the Son of God. It made me think about how amazing it would have been to be a disciple of Jesus back then!! To be in His presence must have been incredible!! One day, we will get to see Jesus, and I cannot wait for that day!! MARANATHA!! :D
35Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
This is such an awesome verse. Every believer ought to be hungry for God’s word as Pastor Bobby said. I need to put God first in my life. Jesus is the bread of life. If my spiritual life is firm in Him, I do not need to worry about a lot of the stuff in my physical life. This verse is comforting and reassuring. God is my Rock and Salvation. He is so good to us! Maranatha!:)
40For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”
The Father’s will is that all should believe in the son and receive an eternal relationship with Him. This reminds me of 2 Peter 3:9, which talks about the Lord being patient to return so that everyone could come to repentance. Praise the Lord for his kindness. I need to make sure that while I am here on earth that I am passionately pursuing the will of the Father. If he desires everyone to come to eternal life, I need to make sure I am living to spread the good news!
66From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.
It’s sad how many people that claim to follow God actually aren’t and will turn away from him whenever something gets difficult. It is really important for me to stay in the word and growing in my walk with God so that I don’t begin to sin against him and mirror the hypocrates in this verse.
All I have to say about this verse 36 (But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe) is, are you serious??
If I saw Jesus that would be AMAZING!!
Judas, along with all the other fools of the world, are ridiculous for not accepting Jesus’s gift of eternal life with him!
63The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life
Why should we care what we look like I know our appearance we all want to be nice but do we focuss more on our outter and not our inner. Sure its good be make yourself beautiful for Christ but our internal life is what counts the most and that what we need to take more time on fixing.
28Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
29Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
These verses REALLY hit me HARD. At my school, and just in life, there seem to be a lot of mormons! I don’t know much, at all, about them but isn’t their belief based on doing the most “good things?” I thought it was so these verses reminded me of them! I don’t have too much to say about these verses but I was like in awe of how perfect this verse is to show them!! And those people that come to your doors and ask you to “Point out exactly where it says this…”! This is so awesome, I was so excited! :) A lot of you probably knew about this passage but I didn’t…I’m pretty much STOKED :)))
MARANTHA!
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
A lot of what Jesus says is true, but is not understood easily like this verse. This is an example that God has to reveal the truth to you. If one is a christian he will be hungry at times for earthly food, but spiritually, he will be full. Jesus fills the empty portion in people’s lives that they always try to fill themselves, but can never do so. Thank you God for revealing your truth to me and filling me with your bread. Amen.
37All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.
I really like this verse. It really motivates my love for the LOrd and my reverence for Him. He is amazing!!!!! What did we ever do to deserve such mercy and love? I know i did nothing, i hav done the opposite. Yet he has accepted me and saved me. HE will never drive me away. I am his forever. That is certainly something to worship him about! He deserves so much of my praise and worships. This verse provides inspiration and motivation for me to worship him
28Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
29Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
Here we are told what we must do, and i am so thankful that God puts it so clearly in the Bible for us.
27Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
This is a cool verse. Instead of only doing things to get a short-term reward, we should be doing things for an eternal reward. Doing things for Christ’s sake instead of just doing it to get some form of a reward is important to remember. Only the eternal things will matter, all the short term things of the world will be gone sooner or later!
48 I am the bread of life.
Though this verse is only six words, it is loaded with meaning. Jesus Christ is the bread of life. He sustains and without Him we would surely die. Just as we hunger for food, we need to hunger for Christ! This chapter even refers to eating his flesh and drinking his blood, which sounds like much more than simply attending church on the weekend to get a little nibble of Christ. As Christians we need to see Christ as the only true Sustainer. Praise the Lord that He is the bread of life!
35Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
food and water is so important to our earthly bodies that we would die without it, and the sacrifice of jesus is no different. his death is the only thing holding me back from an eternity of firery death and pain and i am very thankful for gods sacrifice he made for me
35Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
I know alot of people commented on this verse but i can see why, its an amazing verse. This is so comforting! And its sooo true, i see God work in my life everyday and every time i rely on him he never fails me! Its sad to see people try to find comfort and happiness on earth when really it will never satisfy him because only God can quench our thirst. He is going to take care of us and knowing this i can rely on Him always! THanks you Lord sooo much for my salvation! MARANATHA!!!
The bread of life!
Through Christ true, satisfying, living bread is offered! Not the bread that keeps us hungry but the bread of eternal life. Through Jesus’ bread (body) and the water (blood) we can be sure we will have eternal life. I am trusting in the sacrifice of Christ..that he has paid my punishment in full…and I will live for Him!
Praise the Lord!!
He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
I know like 50 people have commented on this verse, but I just had too also(:. Jesus is the only one that satisfies. This has been a prayer request for me for the last three months in fact. I needed to not fill myself with things of this world but rarther things of God and things that will last forever. I found myself not being able to let go of a few things…and I realized those things just took me farther away from God. I learned a valuable lesson that only Jesus can satisfy fully. THings of this world might feel good for a short amount of tim but the always pass away.
35Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
This is probaly the most powerful verse in the chapter for me. it says to me that things of this world are only temporary while Jesus Christ is forever. If we believe in Jesus we will never go hungry because we have the holy spirit in us.
28Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”
29Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”
I talk to so many people who tell me they are going to Heaven because they are “good” people that don’t steal, cheat, or kill anyone. That is so false!!!!!!! We get to spend eternity with God through his son and by his grace alone! After we are saved, we produce fruit. Not because we HAVE to, but because we should WANT to. When the Holy Spirit lives inside of us, he prompts us to to good and bear fruit. It’s not working FOR salvation, it’s working BECAUSE of salvation.
John 6
36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.
37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.
Jesus gives reasoning to their lack of faith here in verse 37. The Fathers gives the Son those who have been elected by God to accept His Son. People often believe that they are the ones who choose to follow Christ but it is a gift that only comes from the providence of God.
39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.
The gift of salvation thru Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection will never spoil and can never be taken away from God’s elect.
44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day.
65He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him.”
John 6 is one of the most hardcore chapters I know of. A lot of people have a problem with being hardcore. They are afraid that this will scare non-Christians away. Here’s the truth: it will. But I trust is not in natural people responding to the truth of the gospel. Our trust is in God enabling them to respond. God will draw people to himself through his Son Jesus Christ. I praise God for how he has done this the last three years at True North. When I look back at Revival 07, 08 & 09 I do not see the camps as much as I see the faces of students who got saved. Students who most people never would have thought would respond to a hardcore message. But God enabled them. Now they are his. Praise the Lord!
I am praying for more people to get saved in 2010, specifically I am praying for Revival: Winter Edition and Revival X and the teachings at True North. May God use the hardcore message of Jesus to draw others to himself!
33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
34 “Sir,” they said, “from now on give us this bread.”
35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
God is all I need. If I only believe in Jesus and follow His teachings then what else do I need? It’s sad when people don’t realize this and continue to sin because they think certain worldly things will make them happy. As long as I dig deeper into the Word and build my faith, I will have a wonderful relationship with God.
