The Lord Upholds My Life
To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Maskil of David, when the Ziphites went and told Saul, “Is not David hiding among us?”
54:1 O God, save me by your name,
and vindicate me by your might.
2 O God, hear my prayer;
give ear to the words of my mouth.
3 For strangers have risen against me;
ruthless men seek my life;
they do not set God before themselves. Selah
4 Behold, God is my helper;
the Lord is the upholder of my life.
5 He will return the evil to my enemies;
in your faithfulness put an end to them.
6 With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you;
I will give thanks to your name, O Lord, for it is good.
7 For he has delivered me from every trouble,
and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies.
Cast Your Burden on the Lord
To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Maskil of David.
55:1 Give ear to my prayer, O God,
and hide not yourself from my plea for mercy!
2 Attend to me, and answer me;
I am restless in my complaint and I moan,
3 because of the noise of the enemy,
because of the oppression of the wicked.
For they drop trouble upon me,
and in anger they bear a grudge against me.
4 My heart is in anguish within me;
the terrors of death have fallen upon me.
5 Fear and trembling come upon me,
and horror overwhelms me.
6 And I say, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest;
7 yes, I would wander far away;
I would lodge in the wilderness; Selah
8 I would hurry to find a shelter
from the raging wind and tempest.”
9 Destroy, O Lord, divide their tongues;
for I see violence and strife in the city.
10 Day and night they go around it
on its walls,
and iniquity and trouble are within it;
11 ruin is in its midst;
oppression and fraud
do not depart from its marketplace.
12 For it is not an enemy who taunts me—
then I could bear it;
it is not an adversary who deals insolently with me—
then I could hide from him.
13 But it is you, a man, my equal,
my companion, my familiar friend.
14 We used to take sweet counsel together;
within God’s house we walked in the throng.
15 Let death steal over them;
let them go down to Sheol alive;
for evil is in their dwelling place and in their heart.
16 But I call to God,
and the Lord will save me.
17 Evening and morning and at noon
I utter my complaint and moan,
and he hears my voice.
18 He redeems my soul in safety
from the battle that I wage,
for many are arrayed against me.
19 God will give ear and humble them,
he who is enthroned from of old, Selah
because they do not change
and do not fear God.
20 My companion stretched out his hand against his friends;
he violated his covenant.
21 His speech was smooth as butter,
yet war was in his heart;
his words were softer than oil,
yet they were drawn swords.
22 Cast your burden on the Lord,
and he will sustain you;
he will never permit
the righteous to be moved.
23 But you, O God, will cast them down
into the pit of destruction;
men of blood and treachery
shall not live out half their days.
But I will trust in you. (ESV)

Goodmorning
…….
16 But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
17 Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
There is some hardcore awesome stuff in these chapters…but I liked verses 16-17 and 22 from chapter 55 because I have been in a lot of situations where theres nothing I can do put pray…and trust in the Lord to work everything out. And I love how it says so clearly in verse 22 that if we cast our cares on Jesus, he will always do what is right and he will carry me through the hard times. I pray that I will not worry about my life but put all my trust in God to take care of everything.
Maranatha!! <33
3 Strangers are attacking me; ruthless men seek my life— men without regard for God. Selah 4 Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.
i thought these two verses were very good, because David is being attacked and might be killed but he still relies on the Lord to help him instead of blaming God for the situation he is in. when things are against us it is easy to blame God for it, but we need to take refuge in him in our times of trouble
c u all on sunday
Ps 55:23 But you, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of corruption; bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you.
He is great and will judge us all – the wicked will get their just dessert and those who trust in Him will get what they don’t deserve: eternal life with Him. That doesn’t mean life here won’t be carefree – quite the contrary – it will be hard and we who serve the Lord will be persecuted. The cost for following Christ is high and worth it… Please come soon!
1 Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea;
The Lord is faithful. He always listens to our prayers and needs, if we take the time to ask for them. Those who askwill recieve, those who seek will find, and those who knock, the door will be opened to them.
4 “My heart is in anguish within me; the terrors of death assail me.
5 Fear and trembling have beset me; horror has overwhelmed me.”
11 “Destructive forces are at work in the city; threats and lies never leave its streets.”
In Psalm 55, David is in anguish. His enemies are closing in around him, ready to kill. He sees that in the city, corruption and evil are common and prevailing. And even someone who was once a close friend has betrayed him and turned to deception. He seems to almost be getting desperate. But, despite everything that’s going on, David trusts that God will take care of him. In his time of need he cries out for deliverance, and the Lord answers.
16 “But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
17 Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
18 He ransoms me unharmed from the battle waged against me, even though many oppose me.”
Now, I seriously doubt that I will go through as many terrible things as David did. However, persecution and tough times are guaranteed for anyone who wants to live a godly Christian life (2 Tim. 3:12). When I’m going through tough times, I too need to trust in and call to the Lord. Reliance on Him and continual prayer are key in times of trouble.
God, help me to rely on you like David did.
4 Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.
22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
Both of these verses really speak out to me because it says that God is the one who sustains us. He’s always there to catch the righteous if they stumble and will never let them fall. This reminds me of the memory verse at Revival ( 1 Corinthians 10:13). He is the one I can always turn to when I feel tired and weak. I find a lot of comfort in His strength and guidance which sustains me through anything.
Goodmorning . . .
I read . . .
Psalm 54 & 55 . . .
“4. Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.”
When I need someone to rely on, always be there for me, nurrish, and support me, I can look towards God my Heavenly Father. In a time of need and help, to answer a prayer, I don’t look towards my BFF or my parents, I ask and look for GOD. He is my rock and I rely on Him ALWAYS. No questions asked.
“12. If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were raising himself against me, I could hide from him.”
If I DO love God so much, I AM WILLING TO BE PERSECUTED FOR HIM THEN. I am willing to be made fun of and not make friends because they think I’m a freak for standing up for what’s right. This verse says it clearly, “If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it” because I’d be SO IN LOVE WITH GOD. I pray that I’d have such a strong walk with Him that I would be willing to and WANT to endure insults from people. (even my own relatives) The second part of the verse is also really good. If there were an enemy coming and uprising against me, I would be able to hide in my ROCK. =) Just like the fist verse above says, He is there for me in a time of need. I can hide in Him and He will protect me.

22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
I need to work on always giving everything over to the Lord, i tend to try andtake on the world all by myself, whicj never works….when i give things over to God he will be able ot use them for his own good and for the best! God is always going to be there for me and i am so thankful to have Him as the center of my life!
22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
Its so awesome to know that whatever is going on in my life, I can bring it all before God. He will get me through it. He wont necessarily take the troubles away, but he will provide a way through them and an opportunity to learn and grow closer to him.
16 But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
17 Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
Whenever David is in anguish or is tormented by others, he always cries out to God and pours out his soul to Him. He never takes the matters into his own hands or tries to take revenge. David prays evening, morning, and noon- all day! I don’t know if I’ve ever poured out my soul to God in prayer morning, noon, and night. This shows David’s trust in the Lord. He is giving everything (including the entire day) to God in prayer, and it is such a great example of what I should be doing when I am in anguish. I need to call to God, cry out in distress, and he will hear my voice! What an awesome God we serve!
21 His speech is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords.
David is talking about his companion who has betrayed him and how this man has speech as smooth as butter, yet his heart is filled with war. And his words, though they are more soothing than oil, they are drawn swords. And this is just like Satan, for he wants everyone to fail and fall down. He takes what is good and mixes evil into it so that it will be corrupt, and then tempts the people of the world to but into his sinfulness. He is out to destroy all the Christians. 1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” Christians need to be on guard against Satan who is looking to devour people. And all this world can seem so appealing, it is made to seem lasting and full of happiness, but likes words smooth as butter but war in the heart, so is all the things of the world fading and temporary, and its philosophies and ideas are but hollow and deceptive. And unlike the man David described, I need to to strive for sincerity in all that I do. I don’t want to be a hypocrite, saying one thing then doing another, or someone who pretends to be good when evil dominates in him. Like the speech as smooth as butter, so do I want speech that is good and beneficial to my listeners, but it needs to be sincere, that it comes from my heart. Whatever I do, it should never do it for the praise of men, but to please God!
16 But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
17 Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
This is such a comforting thing to hear. No matter what time it is, God will alwyas be there for me when i need him.
ELLO… I read
I like verse 16,”But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.”
I like this verse because it talks about GOD saving us. If its earthly damage or spiritual condemnation HE will save us from both. GOD always hears us and sometimes HIS answer might be no and we will die but be in a far better place then we ever were. GOD has proved himself many times that HE will save us. Now all I need to do is rely on GOD and to trust that HE will protect me when I am teaching HIS word.
CYA
1 Save me, O God, by your name; vindicate me by your might.
2 Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.
God you are great teach me your ways help me to learn more about you and help me to do what is right.
“Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.”
God is always going to be there to hear my voice. But lately I’ve been lazy, or thought there are better things to do than pray. The Bible tells us to “pray continually” and if I’m not doing that then I’m sinning. I need to be praying both “hardcore” prayers, and “text message” prayers throughout the day. Most of us talk to our friends so much, whether through texting, phone calls, instant messaging, or just in person, but we don’t talk to our Creator (who loves us more than all of those people) just as much or more than we talk to the other people. I need to talk to God more and more each day and grow to be more like Christ as I cry out for wisdom from the Lord. God constantly remind me to pray; help me to pray like Paul, whenever he had an opportunity to pray, he was praying.
Colossians 4:2 “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
Ps 54:2 Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.
God does listen and hear all my prayers. He responds to them in accorandce to His will. God is the ONLY god and is the ONLY one who listens to all of our prayers. I love the story of Elijah because it is one of those BOO-YA! in your face type things, that shows that God is the only god! In 1 Kings 18 it tells the story of Elijah as God’s only prophet verse Baal’s 450 “prophets.” God wins (like usual) and Baal’s prophets end up being killed. yay :] God does listen and He does answer our prayer, sometimes it may not be teh response we want!
Ps 55:16 But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
The LORD does save and He DOES rescue us from our time of need. He is God and can do all. READ the scripture and hear of all the stories of how different people have been saved by God. Like the story of Daniel in the lion’s den. There are so many stories. God is God and protects and saves! Thank you LORD for loving and protecting me! :]
***GOD IS GOD, AND IS THE ONE AND ONLY GOD!!!***
4 Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.
David is enduring intense suffering, but he is keenly aware that God is His help and the One who sustains Him. David does not rely on himself or earthly help, His hope is in God alone. David has such a high view of God, as His helper, listener and answerer of prayer, his righteous judge, and his sustainer. It is my prayer today that I will hope in God alone and expect Him to help me in times of trouble. I do not mean that I expect God to deliver me immediately from my tough circumstances, but I will trust Him to handle the situation and to give me the ability to endure while I wait for His help. Thank You, God for being the Helper of Your children!
16 But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
17 Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
I love this because there are some situations I find myself in where all I can do is pray and give it all to the Lord… Everything is under control by Him, so why not talk to Him about things instead of getting all bent out of shape and trying to figure it out on my own. He is the one who can save me, and I should constantly (“evening,morning, and noon”) be calling on Him!
Nice comment PJ!
1 Save me, O God, by your name; vindicate me by your might.
I love this verse because it reminds me that I was vindicated by Jesus when I became a Christian. Satan, our acuser, slandered me and prosectuted me so that I would recieve the punishment I deserve…Hell with him for eternity. But Jesus, our defense attorney and savior, vindicated me by His pure sacrafical death and convinced God our Holy Judge to give me eternal life! Praise God for His grace!
12 If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were raising himself against me, I could hide from him.
13 But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend,
14 with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship as we walked with the throng at the house of God.
Wow! This is some deep and personal treachery! This verse encourages me to put my, trust, joy, and hope in God alone not in people or relationships. Even if that someone had walked in the halls of church with me or we had experienced deep felowship together…I know that God alone is completely truthfull and worthy of my praise and complete trust!
Over the last couple of days here on SOTD, David has really been describing the wicked people who live outside of God’s law. One common thing that keeps coming up is that these people don’t fear God.
19 God, who is enthroned forever, will hear them and afflict them— Selah men who never change their ways and have no fear of God.
The fear of God is so fundamental to our Christian lives. It is only when we are scared of God’s judgment and what he will do to those who live in sin, that we will turn from it and stop sinning. Unfortunately, many people who are Christians today don’t like to think of a judging God of wrath. Others have watered down fearing God into a respect and reverence. I want to make sure that I am afraid of my God, who is a consuming fire and will accept no excuse for sin. Not a fear that he will send me to hell, because I know he has saved me through the blood of Christ. But a fear of how he hates evil, so that I will stay on his straight and narrow path. I want to have Theophobia!
This is something we’ll be talking about at True North this weekend…hope to see you there!
Praying for back to school REVIVAL!
16 But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
17 Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
This verse shows me how I should be calling to God all the time. I as a christian need to be talking to my God each day. It also shows me that some times it seems like God is not there but I need to remember that it is not in my timing it is God’s timing and He has the best plan.
22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
David keeps that confidence in the Lord even when his enemies pursue him. I remember the other day when my older brother used this verse to encourage his friend who just found out his mother has a brain tumor. It’s amazing how God uses people in our lives to encourage each other through Him! God truly is my sustainer and i will rejoice in Him because my Lord will always be there in times of distress!
Wow, these two psalms have some really powerful lines.
23 But you, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of corruption; bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you.
I love the way that this psalm closes – you can see the suffering in the psalmist’s words, the way he feels besieged on all sides by his enemies, and by the sin of the world. But still, he keeps his trust in the Lord, because when everything else falls, the Lord will still be with me and I will always be able to trust in Him. Very encouraging!
21 His speech is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords.
I think this is a really applicable verse because we are going back to school! I know i have friends who are smarter than me, and who know all the formulas, and they can write really good essays, and stuff like that, and no matter how much work I do, and how much I pay attention in class, they still outsmart me. Unfortunatly, they do not know God, or care about Him. They may speak well, be very smart, and be everybody’s friend, but like David says, there is war in their heart, and to God, they turn out to be not smart. So this school year, if I even for the sightest moment get jealous about someone’s knowledge that they have, I will know that I don’t have war in my heart, and that book smarts aren’t as important to God, but having an eternal life with Him is.
Ps 54:4 Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.
5 Let evil recoil on those who slander me; in your faithfulness destroy them.
6 I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, O LORD, for it is good.
7 For he has delivered me from all my troubles, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.
I love these verses for they are so true!! When we trust in God and call upon Him, He will always help and I cannot believe how much He loves us that He would do that!! He always helps His children and justly punishes those who aren’t. I am so thankful and I am going to praise Him always!! Praise to Jesus Christ!!!!
16 But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
17 Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
Even though theses verses are short, they’re still very powerful! Life was super tough for David! Saul was after him, trying to kill him! He had to hide in caves just to be safe. So David called out to God, and He saved him. At night, early in the morning, or in the afternoon God heard David. And God is the same today. No matter when, God hears and will answer. Doesn’t matter what time of the day or night. God hears me and will save me!
13 But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend,
14 with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship as we walked with the throng at the house of God.
That was a really good point you brought up Hunter. Even if friends have had close fellowship with us or went to church even with us, they might betray us but God will always be faithful to us. Why then do I invest my time in other relationships like always talking with my friends yet hardly talking with my God, which is the greatest and most personal relationship I could ever have. I want to make sure that I am praying continually and truly depending on God, because He is the only one who is faithful and He is better than everything else.
1 Save me, O God, by your name; vindicate me by your might.
As a Christian God has bestowed upon me this gift. the gift of redemption, salvation, eternal life, eternal worship in him. this joys my heart to think of such a thing as eternally being within the glory of God’s realm, seated befre his throne, jaw gaping in aweee. what a day that will be.
13 But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend,
David is showing me that even when times appear hard or difficult, and I feel like no one else is there for me, God is. God is the friend who should be respected and feared, yet loved at all times.
4 Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.
5 Let evil recoil on those who slander me; in your faithfulness destroy them.
When I am persecuted, when I am attacked, I am not my own help. My friend is not my help, God is my help. God will destroy all evil, so I will not fear it. His Word will be forever with me and I will boldly proclaim it!
22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
How awesome is it to know that God will never let us fall. No matter what happens, whether we get sucked into a sin pattern or anything, God will always scoop his children back up into his had. God is GREAT. This verse also talks about how giving God your worries and troubles is very important. It says if we do, and trust in him, God will sustain us. God is awesome and faithful. I think its extremely encouraging to know that no matter how many times I fall, God will scoop me back up and will restore me, all while still loving me the same. How awesome!!!!
23 But you, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of corruption; bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you.
This verse kinda wraps up Psalm 55, saying that although the wicked are corrupted and evil toward me, God will punish them. But my favorite part of this verse was the last four words- I trust in you. It made me think of my own life, where wicked men persecute me and tell me im weird for how I live my life. But this verse made me wonder…I know that God will punish them, but do I truly trust God in everything? I think one area I need to trust God more in is with starting the new school year. Its my first year of high school, and sometimes I find myself wanting to do things my way and have a little fun, but I know that God holds the bigger plan, and I need to trust him in all my decisions and things that come up.
<3 see you tonight <333
23 But you, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of corruption; bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you.
The Lord’s wrath is something to be afraid of. He is so much mightier than anything else in existence, and I must fear him! God will destroy those who are corrupt and don’t follow him, but I can know that he will protect me from his own wrath if I trust and live in him. This makes me think.. if I don’t have to worry about the divine wrath of the creator of the universe, what is there to worry about? I have the LORD ALMIGHTY on my side! Knowing and thinking about this really helps me to not sin and worry about simple things that happen in my life.
4 Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.
When we are in times of trouble and we need help, God is the only one who can and will help us. As it states in the verse, God is surely my help; the Lord is the one who sustains and supports me. We can always count on God, no matter what! He is always there for us(:
16 But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
17 Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
I love how David everytime he is in trouble or needs God he cries out to the Lord. He pours his whole entire heart into His prayers and God responds. We need to be like David and have full faith into the Lord and trust Him with our whole heart.
2 Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.
God answers our prayers and listens to them all the time. We need to thank God for everything HE does.
1 Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea;
2 hear me and answer me. My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught
Sometimes I feel like I’ve prayed the same things over and over and things don’t change. But this psalm shows that I must pray ernestly and like God is going to listen and answer me, because I know He will! God is always watching, He is always with me, and I never have to feel like he won’t hear when I cry out to Him. Praise God for his omnipresence and kindness!!
23 But you, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of corruption; bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you.
I absolutely love this verse
It show how just God is, and how much he hates sin. I like how it shows that not only does he hate it, but also he will not tolerate it. He hates sin, and sinners. There is a consequence for sin that we all deserve, Hell. Yet, he provided a way out. His merciful love and grace have saved us. It is so hard to grasp at how amazing God is. He is just, fair, merciful, and loving, all in one. I know that I definately need to praise him more.
**Prayer request: I am competing in a big competition this weekend, and I would love the prayer for safety of me and my horse, and also the other riders from my team. Also, if you think of me, please pray that I do everything in God’s glory, and always am putting him first this weekend. Thanks!!
Psalm 55:1-3 Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea; hear me and answer me. My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught at the voice of the enemy, at the stares of the wicked; for they bring down suffering upon me and revile me in their anger.
Wow! These chapters are EXACTLY what I needed after coming back from hanging out with some non-Christian friends. Most of the girls on my team are very much into the world: they drink, party, smoke, cuss, gossip, etc… and its really hard to be bold and stand up for what I believe in. Whenever they are talking about the latest party and what they did, if I speak up I normally get laughed at, or made fun of for being such a “goodie-two shoes” or something like that. Its really discouraging, but this verse gives me strength and courage that I can have hope in God! I need to come to him in prayer, and ask him to help me in times like that. I NEED to be a better witness to the girls on my team. I am so thankful that God has put them in my life so that I can help in his plan to bring people into his Kingdom, but at the same time, its frustrating when they laugh, or dont listen. Please pray for me to have strength and to rely more on God!!
thanks for the great message tonight pastor bobby!!! makes me even more excited to start school and share God with my friends!!
12 If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were raising himself against me, I could hide from him.
What an awesome reminder that with God we can endure all things. In the face of persecution, David proclaims that he can endure. This verse makes me confident that because God is my protection, no matter the persecution I face, I can endure. I want to be more bold for Christ, not fearing anything man could do to me, because the Lord will sustain me and allow me to endure!
17 Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
It is so encouraging to know that no matter what time it is that the will hear our crcies to Him. It may not be answered the way we want it to but at least we know that the Lord hears us. Be it day or night the Lord is there to answer our prayers to His content.
1 Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea;
He always listens to my prayers, but doesn’t always replies as fast as a want to be, but i am glad that he doesn’t ignore what i say.
22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
This is so encouraging! God does hear our prayers and He will answer them in His perfect timing and that is such an encouragment! There are times where i have been so stupid as to take matters into my own hands and i dont pray to God in a situation, and i realize that i should have gone to God and not to my own judgement. God knows what He is doing and i need to be sure that i have 100% faith in that when i say it! The Lord keeps His promises! In Jeremiah 29:11 it says, ” For i know the plans i have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I know that this was directed towards the elders of the church, but it is true still even today! There is no reason to not trust God fully. I need to make sure that i know God is in control and that He is the only One Who I can fully depend on to keep His promises!
MARANATHA!
hello friends!!
7 For he has delivered me from all my troubles, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes.—This makes me think of all of the times God has brought me out of bad times and made it something good! I notice how he does this and I love to rejoice and give thanks to Him! The other half of thise verse reminds me of how God takes care of the revenge and I dont need to get revenge because it never does anything for me. I just need to wait and remember that God’s can of wrath is going to come down on those who reject Him including me! I need to be checking myself!
Amazing message tonight! Just got so much more pumped to go back to school! Thanks Bobby!
17 Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
here david tells how he cries out to God evening, morning, and noon. he cries out to God all the time, and is constantly in prayer and begging God to listen to his prayers. this is something i need to focus more on, praying throughout the day and not just focused times of prayer. the Bible calls us to prayer continually (1 Thes 5:17), and it is something that i need to work on and focus on. throughout the day i can talk to our friends, or go facebook, but i think that it is sad that i cant continually talk to God, who has done so much more for me than anyone.
i need to use david as an example and cry out to God all the time in prayer!
23 But you, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of corruption; bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you.
David cries out prayers and requests to God in his times of need. Even though people are wicked and sinning all around him and against him, David trusts completely in God. He prays to the Lord because he knows He will hear and answer his prayers. That is the confidence we need when going into school. We need to have a complete trust in God, even when all around people are persecuting us and sinning against God. We must have a complete reliance on God through prayer.
22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
All of our troubles, fears, doubts, worries, etc…. we can give all to God!! I struggle with this sometimes by not giving God my problems and trying to fix them on my own!! God will get me through whatever the situation!!! I should always be trusting in Him!!!
MARANATHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
17 Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice.
God tells us to be persistent in prayer and to “devote yourselves to prayer” (1 Corinthians 7:5). God does answer prayers, not always exactly when we want but He has a perfect timing for everything. I like how Pastir Ben told us at the end of the sermon last weekend someone had their family praying for them for 40 years and after 40 years of his family praying for him he realized it was time for him to repent and put his faith in Christ, and he did. This verse makes me realize here David was praying 3 times because he was facing problems and instead of drawing back from prayer he drew to prayer for help from God and knew the Lord would hear him.
16 But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
Isn’t it so amazing that God will save us from whatever trouble were in? I’m so happy that no matter how bad we mess up, we are never so far away from God that we can’t call on him and he won’t hear us. that God is always there is just one reason why I love my God so much.

It is great to have a God who has the power to save us. All we have to do is call out to him. And He always hears us. He will always answer our prayers. David called out to God three times a day. That is something we need to do. The bible says to pray continually. David was a guy who did that. Lets be praying to God and be prepairing for His return. Maranatha!!!!!!!!!!!!
Psalm 55
This Psalm reminds us of the great wrath that will befall those who persecute but salvation and joy is promised to those who are persecuted. David continually prays to God for protection from and justice to his enemies. So many believers today are self confident in believing that they even need protection from sin and evil. Some say to themselves that they are strong enough and don’t feel the need to pray for strength from the Lord. How foolish we can become when we think that we are standing firm? How ironic that in those times we are actually spiritually weak and vulnerable. This is where humility plays a vital role in our faith in God. We are so in need of God to sustain all aspect of our lives. We need to be praying more consistently for God’s protection over others and ourselves.
Psalm 188:7-8 The LORD is with me; he is my helper. I will look in triumph on my enemies. 8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.
