Psalm 45

Your Throne, O God, Is Forever

To the choirmaster: according to Lilies. A Maskil of the Sons of Korah; a love song.

45:1 My heart overflows with a pleasing theme;
I address my verses to the king;
my tongue is like the pen of a ready scribe.

You are the most handsome of the sons of men;
grace is poured upon your lips;
therefore God has blessed you forever.
Gird your sword on your thigh, O mighty one,
in your splendor and majesty!

In your majesty ride out victoriously
for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness;
let your right hand teach you awesome deeds!
Your arrows are sharp
in the heart of the king’s enemies;
the peoples fall under you.

Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.
The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness;
you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness.
Therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the oil of gladness beyond your companions;
your robes are all fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia.
From ivory palaces stringed instruments make you glad;
daughters of kings are among your ladies of honor;
at your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir.

10 Hear, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear:
forget your people and your father’s house,
11 and the king will desire your beauty.
Since he is your lord, bow to him.
12 The people of Tyre will seek your favor with gifts,
the richest of the people.

13 All glorious is the princess in her chamber, with robes interwoven with gold.
14 In many-colored robes she is led to the king,
with her virgin companions following behind her.
15 With joy and gladness they are led along
as they enter the palace of the king.

16 In place of your fathers shall be your sons;
you will make them princes in all the earth.
17 I will cause your name to be remembered in all generations;
therefore nations will praise you forever and ever. (ESV)

  1. Dave Hosford, praying for Pastor Bobby's family rest on vacation says:

    PS 45:16 Your sons will take the place of your fathers; you will make them princes throughout the land.

    This song speaks about how a non-Israelite is being ‘married’ into the family of the knig. And her sons will now be noble. And so it goes for us: we are adopted into God’s family and become elevated into the King’s line! So, what will we do with this gift we don’t deserve and cannot earn? Seek Him first and He will show us!

  2. Beth Lauder says:

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. 7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

    This psalm is a song of praise for the king on his wedding day. Verses 6 & 7 stood out to me because they are used in Hebrews 1:8-9 to describe Jesus! It is amazing to me that God crafted the Bible together so flawlessly that one thousand years before Christ was born that David reigned and so many of the psalms about David are a foreshadowing of Christ. Psalm 45 is written for one of the kings of David’s dynasty on his wedding day, but it is remarkable that the words used here fit perfectly to describe Christ. The predicted prophecy of the Bible sets it apart from any other religious book…the Koran, Book of Mormon and other religious texts do not have predicted prophecy. I am excited for Compass Night this fall where Pastor Mike will explain to us how reliable the Bible is. Thank You, God, for the reliability of Your Word and the fact that it is 100% true!

  3. Brooke Miller says:

    7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

    I second Beth!!!! And this verse stood out to me because it shows what God hates, which is what I want to flee from. I want to seek wisdom and more and more knowledge each day from God’s word! He is a God of righteousness, and is so holy! It is so important to do what the Lord commands, and I want to be obedient under all circumstances and have an open and teachable heart towards his truth!

  4. Allie Moorefield(: says:

    10 Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear: Forget your people and your father’s house.
    11 The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.
    These verses stood out to me. They talk about, us daughters of God giving our ear and listening. We need to forget our people and father’s house. The Kind is enchanted by our beauty and we need to honor the king, because he is our God. We need to make God first in our lives and need to honor Him!

  5. Dan Lauder says:

    4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness; let your right hand display awesome deeds.

    Truth, humility, and righteousness are the backbone of awesome deeds. These are 3 things I hope to bring to school with me as I head back to work. I pray that for all of True North, that we could be characterized by these as we walk through the hallways of our schools. That people would see us and know that is what we stand for.

  6. Chelseaaa says:

    2 You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever.

    What did these people do to deserve such treatment?

  7. Ben Blakey says:

    Great comments so far!

    This Psalm is different than many of the Psalms we’ve looked at so far. It’s not really a Psalm of praise to God; it’s a Psalm of praise on a wedding day. It’s cool to see how something like a wedding can turn into a song of praise.

    7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

    The reason God favored this king so much was because he loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Those are strong terms. This verse reminded me of a book we have been reading in Teen Ministers called The Pursuit of Holiness. If I want to become more “holy” or more like Christ, I need to LOVE righteousness and HATE wickedness. I need to make every effort to be set apart for God.

  8. Spencer Camp says:

    2 You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever.

    As indicated above in the Psalm’s title, this is a wedding song by, according to my study Bible, the levitical choir of that time to David, the king, and his bride. It exalts him to almost a god position, foreshadowing Christ, our eternal reigning King.

    4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness; let your right hand display awesome deeds.

    This also describes Christ because He came to reveal the truth (Jesus continually said “I tell you the truth…”), He came to be humbled as a man and then be exalted to the right hand of God, and He came to reveal to us a righteousness that is by faith in the perfect life of Jesus.

  9. Mike says:

    7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

    Great comment Ben! This verse stood out to me as well. We as Christians are eager for God’s blessing, but when it comes down to it we are not really actively seeking it as we should by pursuing holiness. Most Christians seem to stay away from the big sins, but there are lots of areas that don’t seem quite so bad, and may not bother us at al, but which are highly offensive to God. I need to be praying for Him to search my heart and show me these areas in my life; and when I recognize them, I need to eliminate them, hating sin like God hates it, and desiring to follow His ways so that I will receive blessing and joy from the Lord.

  10. Elise says:

    10 Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear: Forget your people and your father’s house.
    11 The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.

    What an interesting Psalm! I chose verses 10 and 11 because it shows part of the responsibility of a wife. Unlike what our culture teaches, women need to honor and respect their husbands. They are nolonger part of their family (symbolically of course) but are now starting a new one. I think its so important to point this out because our culture teaches women to stand up for themselves in a way that says we shouldn’t be subject to anyone, especially a man. Here, the command is to honor your husband as if he is your Lord. Proverbs 31 goes into more detail.. but that’s all the time I have!

  11. 7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

    I have to comment on this verse too because this is what I want to be viewed as in God’s eyes…I want to hate what He hates and love what He loves. This reminds me of the song that says “Break my heart for what breaks yours” I want to be broken over sin and wickedness first and foremost in my own sinful heart and then in the world and at the same time I want to be pursuing holiness and righteousness and good with my whole heart!

  12. Collin S says:

    17 I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.

    Great scripture! This verse stuck out in my mind because it tells me how I need to act as role model as a Christian. It also told me that I need to spread the Word of God as much as I possibly could. So that it may leave a lasting impression not only the people around me, but the people and generations that come after me.

  13. Josh says:

    My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.i need to speek words that are praise worthy to God all the time

  14. Kyle J Good Morning! says:

    7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

    This verse definitley stood out to me! Reminds me of Beach Nights! God loves the righteousness and God hates the wickedness. I don’t want God to hate me because of my wickedness, that would be the worst thing I can think of. I want God to love me for being righteousness. I need to pursue holiness, conforming to God’s ways and imitate God (Ephesians 5:1)

  15. Pastor Bobby Blakey says:

    Thanks for the prayers Dave! We are having a good time resting!

    I will miss being at True North this weekend and praying for a great service! The time has come…school will soon be here…we need to be ready to represent Christ on campus!

    Ben, I am praying for your sermon: Back To School with the Bible #1 – How To Share The Gospel on Campus

    Like others have said this psalm is about a king… We don’t really think about kings here in America…because we have a democracy and elect our leader…but kings were people who could do whatever they wanted…

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

    God is a king! He can do whatever he wants! Praise him that he always does what is right and is so good to us! I am so thankful today for a King who sent his Son to serve me when he didn’t have to! Praise the Lord!

  16. Tanner says:

    ELLO… I read

    I like verse 17,”I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.”

    I like this verse because it talks about praising GOD. No matter the situation like this guy we may praise GOD when the situation is good, but this is not the only time we are to praise GOD. Paul and Silas I think it was were beaten and flogged and put into jail for I think casting out a demon. And when they were in prison they were not cursing GOD or complaining about their wounds but they were singing hymns and praising GOD that they were worthy to suffer for HIS name. This is what I need to do more of. Its easy for me to praise GOD when good things are happening but not so much as for when things are bad. I need to work on this.

  17. Riley Hancock says:

    This verse is talking about that you are the all might and powerful and we should follow you with what ever we do. We should praise you with all you give to us because you can take it away from us as well. Worship God with all you hearts.

  18. Matt Whyte says:

    2 You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever.

    For these people who David is talking about i would love to know how they earned this great praise

  19. Nachooooooooooo says:

    I love this chapter because it just talks about how great God is.
    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
    God is so powerful. We can have faith that His throne will last forever. He will rule for all of eternity.

  20. Jackson Dahl says:

    4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness; let your right hand display awesome deeds.

    These three things define Jesus Christ- Truth, Humility and Righteousness, and he is the perfect example of what I need to aspire to be. Not only did he comet to earth to die for us and rise again, but he set the perfect example for us to be like. I pray that I can be as much like him as possible, especially in this upcoming school year when I will face challenges, and possibly persecution for my faith!

  21. Zach V says:

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

    The world only lasts 100 years at the most (for us) but our true home lasts forever. This makes me think of the disobedient Christian. Although once a Christian always a Christan, it is still possible to fall into sin. This is what I have to always look out for because although sin is sweet for a short time, I would rather have constant joy than small pockets of it. Reading the bible and praying are the keys to fight this sin and all sin; but other sin I just “get up” and and keep going, while the sin that I mainly struggle with is the one that puts me in danger of becoming disobedient and under reproach. LORD, help me keep fighting the sin I struggle with and let me constantly have victory over it for you.

  22. Billy Morris says:

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

    Its really comforting to think that Gods throne will last forever. In fact thinking about forever feels uncomprehendable for me. Our food lasts a few weeks our cars maybe 20 years, and our bodies less than 100 years. It is crazy to think how much we value these things that are wasting away when we should be valuing God’s kingdom.

  23. hunter 2010 says:

    Legit comment Spence!

    2 You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever.

    To those who are wondering about this verse, my study Bible says that this is refering to the king and not to a random group of men or people. This makes sense because the kings were chosen by God, and specificly in this case the king’s words were anoited by God; also the psalm itself is ment to praise the prince/future king. I hope this helps :)

    10 Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear: Forget your people and your father’s house.
    11 The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.

    This verse reminds me that I am going to be presented to God one day, not only as a slave, but also as apart of the “bride” of Christ aka the church! So, because I want to please my Lord and “bridegroom” I am going to live my life free of idols and sin. I am going to forget this world and all it has to offer so that I will be able pure and pleasing to God when He takes us home!

  24. Lizzie Holt :D says:

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

    Forever. To us as humans, it is a uncomprehendable and often frightening thing. Nothing that is on this earth lasts that long. Each day ends, the school year, our cars, pets, and even our bodies will all pass away. God lasts forever and forever He will rule. With Him ruling forever we do not need to be afraid for He is perfectly holy, just, loving, wrathful(when we sin), and righteous.

  25. Callie says:

    17 I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.

    Nations will praise God forever and ever! That is pretty cool. We need to praise God because He deserves it and is worthy of our praise. I need to do everything praising God for His awesomeness! He alone is worthy of our praise.

  26. kelly causky says:

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever

    Nothing that we cherish here on earth will last. Not money, not clothes, not fancy cars. The only thing that will last for all of eternity is God. For ever and ever he will reign and that is something to be thankful for today. Christians have the hope and happiness that we can live with the God everlasting in heaven. Our lives on earth are barely even a hint of what our lives in heaven are going to be like. Let’s get excited and praise the Lord today!

  27. ~Elizabeth Reeves~ says:

    4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness; let your right hand display awesome deeds.

    This sounds epic! It also sounds familiar, because it is all in the book of Revelation! That is so cool because this Pslam was written hundereds of years before Revelation! It is so awesome to know that God keeps His promises and answers our prayers! So next time if I forget how awesome and truthful God is, I will always remember he does keep His promises and that He is truthful!

  28. Austin 2010 says:

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

    God is everlasting, His Love never failing and He will stand when all else fails. That who is who I put my faith in. No man can come remotely close to He whom is my King.

  29. Evan McKee says:

    5 Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies; let the nations fall beneath your feet.

    It is awesome how God looks out for those who are faithful and follow his teaching. this verse reminds me of all the times that God has rescued israel when the people turned to Him and all of times that he let them be taken captive by other nations when they fell away.

  30. Dominic S says:

    4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness; let your right hand display awesome deeds.
    5 Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies; let the nations fall beneath your feet.

    I like how this describes God as riding victoriously and being full of righeousness and humility. Also, He is so powerful that He can vanquish any enemies you have and He deserves all respect for His glory.

  31. Sarah G.! says:

    7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

    God sees this king as righteous and rewards him! The wicked will be punished…and cannot be in his presence. This verse automatically gave me a feeling of gratitude, but also a sense of sorrow and humility knowing that God has saved me because of my sin’s wickedness. God is good! I praise God for his mercy and blessings! :D

  32. ♫ І€ƒƒ€ñ ♫ back from vacation says:

    16 Your sons will take the place of your fathers; you will make them princes throughout the land.

    Here in this chapter we find a non-Israelite woman being married to a king, and so brought into the royal family. Though she was not a part of the royal family, through marriage she now is brought into it. As Mr. Hosford was saying, this is just like how we as Christians are adopted into the family of Christ. For it is not by anything we have done that we can become Christians; no work of ours has saved us from the penalty we deserve for our sins. It is all the work of God; His grace shown through Him sending His perfect Son Jesus Christ to take our place and die for us and rise again. And so we are adopted into God’s family. And being part of God’s family I am representing Him in the way that I live my life here on earth. As 2 Corinthians 5:20 says, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” I need to strive for perfection in everything I do, that I can do my best to represent my Lord Jesus Christ. Though I am sinful and am not perfect, like the glass of water which is not 100% pure, I need to strive to keep it as clean as possible and keep filthy things that will contaminate it far away.

  33. Laura Johnson says:

    V.7

    God loves righteousness and hates wickedness and doesn’t overlook any of this. I think this verse is good to keep in mind and remember God doesn’t love when we sin or overlook it, He know everything we do, say and think.

  34. Jasmine is in sandiego says:

    4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness; let your right hand display awesome deeds.

    I love these qualities. God is so awesome and great! I want to work on my humility and pursuing holiness to become more like Jesus. Amen!

  35. Michelle [Slave For Christ] 2010 says:

    Thankyou Dave Hosford for explaining this chapter…i was a little confused while reading it!

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

    AMEN!God is everlasting. He has always been there and always will be. As a human, I cannot understand something that has no beginning. I can imagine something with no end, but something with no beginning comes to me as impossible! But God has made things possible and I dont want to know how He has existed with no beggining, because if i knew, there would be no mystery. With every question that is answered, more questions would arise. That is one thing great about our God. He is the Kings of Kings and i am a sinful, stupid human who has no clue about a majority of things here on earth, let alone eternity! He is so high above us and i am so thankful to have a God that i am so underserving of…because if God had sinned once or twice, He would be just like us. He is holy- set apart from sin. He will reign in heaven forever and ever and i need to remember Who i am worshipping when i worship and Who i am working for when i work and do school-work, etc. Gods kingdom is something i cannot even fathom. Its going to be so great in heaven! Im so stoked to be close to my Lord!WOOHOO:)

    Maranatha!COME LORD SOOOOOOON!

  36. Jeff Modugno says:

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

    I love this verse. It shows me that I am on the wining team God’s team. God throne will last for ever and ever that is so encouraging to me to tell others.

  37. Eric Walker says:

    7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

    How true is this verse!! God HATES sin and LOVES the righteous. If God hates sin so much, then shouldn’t we be afraid to sin because we fear the awesome wrath of God? Yes, we should. Just as Proverbs 9:10 states, “the fear of the Lord is the beggining of wisdom. I pray that we will fear God and praise him with trembling hands. If we learn to fear God, we will be afraid to sin and not sin. Fear the Lord!!

  38. Rebekah Foreman says:

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

    God will be on the throne forever no one can defeat Him and when He is on His throne we will praise Him for He is everlasting!!

  39. Mark says:

    7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

    God definately despises sin!!! Some people say that they have read the Bible and the have read that God hates sinners!! But that is not true at all! God hates the sin and wickedness that comes out of the sinners!! God as an open heart towards that person and will forgive him of what he did wrong!!

    He is overwhelmed with joy when someone is doing good deeds and praising Him!!!

    MARANATHA!!!!

  40. Mady says:

    wow! i am SO glad we have SOTD.. i was SOOOO confused reading this.. and then i read the comments and it makes total sense now! hahaha

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

    I really like this verse. God’s kingdom will last FOREVER! This is so amazing and mind boggling! haha. If we have Christ in the center of our lives, we will be with Him forever in his kingdom!!!!! I cannot wait until the day when we will be praising Jesus Christ in heaven forever and everr and ever and everrrrrrrr… and it keeps going on!

  41. Brad says:

    Here is a show of magnificence. Check out these words used: noble, excellence, splendor, majesty, anointed, blessed, awesome deeds, joy, palaces, fragrances, embroidery, beauty, princes. The image that stands out the most to me is God on his throne holding a scepter of justice. This is the God we worship every week!

  42. Fëanor says:

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

    This verse makes me so excited! It’s so great that God will rule forever and ever. Maranatha! When God comes, we’ll get to be with Him. Yipee! That’s soooooooooooooooo cool. Can’t wait.

  43. Gabriel Voris 2010 says:

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

    This verse just makes me think that everything in this place is going to be destroyed one day. Everything in the kingdom of God though will continue and be in exsitence for every. The day I get into Heaven and know im there will be the best day ever.

  44. Natalie cannavo says:

    5 Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies; let the nations fall beneath your feet.

    I was just wondering: who this is directed to? Is it the bride or bridegroom? Or both? Or someone completely different?

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

    Like many other people, this verse really stood out to me! His Kingdom is going to last…. FOREVER. We can’t even try to make our minds comprehend the amount of time that is! I mean I so often use the phrase “in forever”, like “I haven’t seen you in forever!” or “I haven’t been there in forever.” To me, I think of forever as a couple year, or even a month! Trying to imagine the actual forever is beyond what my mind reaches! :) Now every time I say “in forever”, I am going to try to think of how God’s Kingdom will last FOREVER!!

    However, there is another side to forever. I side that isn’t fun to think about. That is why we need to be evangelizing and spreading the Gospel as much as possible! And bringing more and more people to Christ! That should really inspire us to spread God’s Word to this world!

    ——————–MARANATHA!——————–

  45. Alison says:

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

    God is eternal, and will reign forever. Life on earth is so short compared to the endless time we have before us. Its just crazy to imagine living forever the presence of God- it really puts everything in the right perspective! It makes me want to live this short time that I have to the glory of God- I don’t want to spend eternity wishing that I had done more while I could!

  46. 11 The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.

    The notes in my Bible for this verse talked about how David was saying that the church was a beautiful thing and the King was astonished at its beauty. But for us girls in this present age, this can be applied in even another way other than the church. I think that so much in this time girls are blessed by God with astonishing outward beauty but they do not honor God in the way they dress it up. In Proverbs 31:30 it says that Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. And I know that there is a way to be beautiful, but in a way that honors the Lord. I see this most in Christa Blakey, seeing that she is such a beautiful woman but is still so modest in her dress, but beautiful in her heart. I know that there is a way to honor God in the way I dress, and I can do that by being modest and fearing the Lord in all I do, and trying to walk as Jesus did in everything.

    yelloo! haha
    7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.—This has me thinking how much God hates all of the sin we do daily and we never really take the time to think about how bad it is! A sin is a sin and I have to remember that! I cannot be thinking that there are sins that are less of a sin as some and so I am planning on really thinking about my actions and how much I need to pay attention to all of the sins I am commiting and what God is thinking. MARANTHA!!!

    I am praying that God will give us boldness this school year in starting a revival at all schools!!(:

  48. josh senger says:

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
    that is an awesome thing to think about. bobbys message at takeover made me think about how i dont really think about the rapture like i should, i should be longing for the time when jesus comes to take us home and that is an amazing way to live life. to constantly be thinking about how i can please god when he comes back. i want to be focused on pleasing god always so that i will be ready when he comes back!

  49. Kyle Shackleford says:

    4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness; let your right hand display awesome deeds.

    This psalm reminds me that I need to always live my life for the Lord. With some circumstances in my life, I am placed in a position where I can be influential, such as being the oldest child in my family. I, like this king God favored, need to live my life for the benefit of God and others, such as my siblings. I need to be a good example to them by living my life for the Lord!

    Psalm 45

    Wow we should all aspire to be revered as Godly man and women as this king is here. This king is described as humble, righteous and just. What would your friends say describes you and your character? God commands us be imitators of Christ and His attributes. So many church goers are described as one way at church and another way outside of church. I pray that we at True North would be characterized by our consistency in Christ. Pray for all of your fellow brothers and sisters as they all return to school that they would be sold out for Christ and His Gospel.

    Luke 4:22 All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.

  51. Christopher Eriksen says:

    6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

    Most of the chapter is talking about the king’s glories, but I like this verse because it is directed straight at God. God is the one who is holy and deserves all praise; the reason the king is experiencing blessings is because He is seeking to serve God and God has blessed Him. Praise be to the LORD for being so perfectly good and holy and having love on me to be my God and I His servant. I want to be like this king who as described in verses 4 and 7 seeks to serve the LORD, as He is the only one who is good and deserving of praise.
