The Death of Lazarus
11:1 Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was ill. 3 So the sisters sent to him, saying, “Lord, he whom you love is ill.” 4 But when Jesus heard it he said, “This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”
5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So, when he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was. 7 Then after this he said to the disciples, “Let us go to Judea again.” 8 The disciples said to him, “Rabbi, the Jews were just now seeking to stone you, and are you going there again?” 9 Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. 10 But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.” 11 After saying these things, he said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I go to awaken him.” 12 The disciples said to him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.” 13 Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that he meant taking rest in sleep. 14 Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died, 15 and for your sake I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.” 16 So Thomas, called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.”
I Am the Resurrection and the Life
17 Now when Jesus came, he found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days. 18 Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off, 19 and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary to console them concerning their brother. 20 So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary remained seated in the house. 21 Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” 23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” 27 She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.”
Jesus Weeps
28 When she had said this, she went and called her sister Mary, saying in private, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.” 29 And when she heard it, she rose quickly and went to him. 30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha had met him. 31 When the Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary rise quickly and go out, they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there. 32 Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” 33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. 34 And he said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus wept. 36 So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” 37 But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?”
Jesus Raises Lazarus
38 Then Jesus, deeply moved again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, “Lord, by this time there will be an odor, for he has been dead four days.” 40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” 41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me.” 43 When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” 44 The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”
The Plot to Kill Jesus
45 Many of the Jews therefore, who had come with Mary and had seen what he did, believed in him, 46 but some of them went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done. 47 So the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the Council and said, “What are we to do? For this man performs many signs. 48 If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.” 49 But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all. 50 Nor do you understand that it is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.” 51 He did not say this of his own accord, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, 52 and not for the nation only, but also to gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. 53 So from that day on they made plans to put him to death.
54 Jesus therefore no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went from there to the region near the wilderness, to a town called Ephraim, and there he stayed with the disciples.
55 Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and many went up from the country to Jerusalem before the Passover to purify themselves. 56 They were looking for Jesus and saying to one another as they stood in the temple, “What do you think? That he will not come to the feast at all?” 57 Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where he was, he should let them know, so that they might arrest him. (ESV)

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
27 “Yes, Lord,” she told him, “I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.”
Jesus is pretty straight forward here as he lays down the facts that without faith in Him, your body would still be a slave to death, but as demonstrated with Lazarus, he was healed by faith. many times our minds drift toward the mindset that Martha had in verse 39… she was too focused on earthly things that she was going to miss God’s glory displayed through Christ… its necessary that we keep our minds focused on Christ, and worry about everything else second in comparison to what the Lord can accomplish.
and john 11:35…
Jesus played football. haha
yeah second one!!!!!
I love this passage because I struggle sometimes in having faith with God and that he will cary out his will and just stuff. Martha also struggles in understanding the full glory of God and what he can do. This is very encouraging for me.
Take away the stone,” he said. “But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.”
40Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?”
41So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me.
I like these verses
4When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”
It is for God’s glory?! What a radically different perspective then the worlds when it comes to trials and tribulations in our life…we can have an eternal perspective as Christians holding firm to the promise of Romans 8:28-29 knowing that God works all things together for our good and His glory!!
This passage is very moving because sometimes it’s hard to have faith in the lord at times and thru hardships but you always have to know He is there for u and His Will will be done.
These are my favorite verses in this passage
21″Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
22But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.”
23Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
24Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
26and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
27″Yes, Lord,” she told him, “I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.”
I like these verses because it really shows how much u have to trust the Lord in the hardest times and know everything is going to be okay and god has a plan for all this.
<3 Beka
40 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?
God is working all the time for the good of us as believers, but it is often hard to see His plan when we are faced with hardship and suffering. Many people – sometimes even “Christians” – blame God for what happens in their lives and the lives of their loved ones. We need to realize, though, that while suffering was not part of God’s perfect world, He uses it now in powerful ways. Many people start to look to Christ after disasters such as 9/11, and personal loss is also a strong test of your faith. If you remain standing and trusting God through the trial, james tells us that you will be rewarded in heaven.
by the way, i wrote a new blog, so click the link if you want to check it out.
4When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”
Great comment Vanessa! This verse struck me as well and my comments are very similar to yours. When faced with troubles and trials Jesus chose to trust in God. He looked at this problem as opportunity for God’s power to be displayed. I pray that I can have this same perspective when I encounter problems in life.
vs. 25 was comforting to me because it said,”"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;” and its awesome because if you believe that Christ died on the corss for our sins, then we will live in His house forever after we are done with this world.
33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.
Jesus shows true compassion and love for his friend Lazarus in this passage. It says that his spirit was deeply moved and troubled which led him into action in raising Lazarus from the dead. I think that we should look at Jesus’ example and love and have compassion for those who are not Christians. That should lead us into action so that we spread the Gospel with them.
21″Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died
Whoa, I couldn’t even imagine someone saying this to the Lord, I think that is just one bad thing to say, when Jesus healed many others and died on the Cross.
25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
26and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
This is amazing and so true, Jesus is the only way to get to Heaven and I think when He is saying life, I think He is meaning of eternal life and would not be dead in our sin because He died for it on the Cross. Shows how much faith we have to have in Christ and not be worried about anything because He has all power and all glory and He has all authority on Heaven and Earth, no one even comes close to compare to Him.
I really like verse 25″
“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;”
This is so true, if you are a child of God you will die. But you will still live up with him.:)
43When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”
Jesus is showing His awesome power by bringing Lazarus back to life. But we need to focus on verse 25: I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies. This is the reality that we have to face, because not all our loved ones and freinds are saved. If Jesus could bring the dead back to life, then there is no doubt that He will give us the courage to tell our loved ones about salvation.
51He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation,
God used the proud and sinfull high priest Caiaphas to prophesie of His death for the Jews and ultimately the whole world. This shows us that God can use anything to glorify His perfect name, even the man that ordered His death sentence. How much more would God want to use us to glorify Him? He desires His name to be praised! And if we don’t worship Him, or praise Him with our spiritual act of worship (Romans 12:1), than even the rocks will cry out (Luke 19:40)! Today is the day to live for the glory of God and Him alone!
This chapter was such an encouragment to me! it really reminded me that if we just have faith in christ he can and will do amazing things in your life! he might put you threw some trials they are for us to grow in them and really fully on Christ!
25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
that verse is so encouraging to me! We Praise such an amazing God he has conqured death!!!!
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
These verses were such an encouragement to me!! If we put our trust in Jesus Christ and know that he is the only way of salvation, we will live forever with him in heaven!! MARANATHA (:
25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
Verse 25 always sticks out to me and is such an encouragement. When i was little my grandma ALWAYS talked to me about this verse and i never took it very seriously. When I went to Norway last summer and went to her grave, this verse was engraved on her stone in norwegian. I automatically knew the verse even though it was in a different language. It was such a reassuring verse knowing that my grandma is in heaven and even though she is dead on earth, she’s alive in heaven. This is such an encouragement to trust in the Lord in everything because we will live forever with Him!
Maranatha!
(:
does this have farther meaning then just the light so u can see??? 9Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight? A man who walks by day will not stumble, for he sees by this world’s light.
10It is when he walks by night that he stumbles, for he has no light.”
this is the first passage i have read and it is great.
i want to continue reading scripture of the day!
40Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?”
41So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me.
Austin you totally took my comment, but I also sometimes have a hard time having faith withy God somtimes and the he will carry things out for his will. This shows that God can carry out anything if it is His will.
For me, John is a great passage to start off reading as a new christian. Also, it gives me somewhere to start my bible reading and then as i grow more as a christian i can start reading other books.
4When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”
I totally agree with what Vanessa already said. This verse totally stuck out to me as well for it shows how all things are worked together for God’s glory! God is so passionate about His own glory that even difficult circumstances will arise so that His name may be glorified. So do we recognize in hard times that God will use this event to glorify His name or do we complain. I pray that we will see God’s sovreignty and praise Him knowing that His name will be glorified!
…Jesus said… “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” … (v 25-26)
Wow, this is a great question to ask ourselves. We need to make sure that we really do believe this: ‘Whoever lives and believes in me will never die’. We will live forever with Christ in the kingdom of God. This is such an amazing thing that God has promised us. I need to be more excited about this and share it with the world!
40Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?”
This verse just gets straight to the point. If you believe in God then you will see his glory in Heaven. I remember reading this verse before I became a Christian. I knew I believed, but I really wasn’t being real for God, but then I became a Christian 2 years ago. So you have to repent of your sin and put your faith and trust in God and believe in Him in order to see his glory.
wow lots of comments today. i do ask for prayer since i am sickly and that none of my family will get sick bc they always do if i do…well anyways! This story always made me think about how powerful God is. He’s able to raise someone from the dead just like that is just amazing! To think of all the people that died already, He can just easily raise them to life just like Lazarus! And I love Marthas faith in Jesus knowing that He would raise Him from the dead and that He, Jesus, would be raised. What an amazing faith! To know as your speaking to Him that He’s God, what a great feeling that is! To know that your saved and won’t go to Hell, and to know that you are in the presence of God! Which is probably why she raises to Mary to tell her that Jesus is here! She is such a great example. And then Jesus shows His love for Lazarus by weeping for Him! He shows His compassion for Mary even though she did not put her faith in Jesus right away like Martha. He loves His people more than any of us will and doesn’t want to see us go to Hell. We should have that same passion that Jesus has when we go out and evangelize! Wanting souls to be saved just as badly as Jesus does! :)
27″Yes, Lord,” she told him, “I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.”
Peter says pretty much the same thing to Jesus, and then later denies him. When you think about it, it’s really pretty amazing that the Christ, the Son of God, would even be talking to Martha or Peter, or that he would be walking around with sinners. But he did! And he cared about them too, and knew how little faith they had. Really, when people stop and consider who Jesus is, they fall on their faces! I love this chapter because it shows that Jesus is God, and it also shows how much he cares about normal sinful people. It makes me thankful that he puts up with our imperfect faith. Praise the Lord!
50You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.”
51He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation,
52and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one.
The Pharisees and the high priests hated Jesus and planned to take His life, yet that was exactly what God was planning. What they meant for evil, God used for good. Caiaphas prophesies Jesus’ death with malicious intent, but God was really using it to save us. Its comforting to know that God is working through all things for His glory and our good; we just need to trust in Him and His promises and not get caught up and distraught over the temporary troubles we might face.
I love reading the bible but this verse really stoood out to me because how god does miraculus things in people’s lives. I am not a new christian but I am now starting to read the bible more and really focus on god and take time to really appreciate what he has done for me and my family. I also think that John is a good place to start reading if you are a new christian because it was easy for me to understand and it just gives you a place to start reading
i love how in the verse jesus i praying to god he wants lazuros to rise so that the people around woule see that he is the son of god. he shows his humility also he i spraying to god and giing him the glory when he could have given the glory to himself
I really like this chapter because Jesus is so caring to this family. We see that He comes to talk with the sisters whom He is good friends with and when He does He is deeply moved. But my favorite part was verse 4–
4When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”
We don’t always get to see the big-picture reason unveiled, but here Jesus tells us why Lazarus died– so God’s glory could be revealed. We should always keep this reason in mind whenever things happen and we wonder why they did. God is about showing His glory and we should be all about that too!
25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
this verse really hit me hard today even though i’ve probably read it 20 times in my life because its really comforting and amazing to think about. so many people on this earth have no idea whats really going to happen when they die but we as christians have the gift of knowing we will be alive in heaven forever even when we’re “dead” on this earth!! and, like anna said – maranatha!!
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
I am so going with what Chewy said, and good post!
If we do not believe in Christ, then we are not a true follower of him! We have a great option to be with the Lord forever and to have eternal life. I definitely want that, I do not want to be a slave to death and sin! I want to live my life for God daily, and to carry out his commandments.
25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
26and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
These verses were just so encouraging to me. As we know, without God we are dead to sin, but with God we are alive in Christ. As we learned before we evangelized we should fear God waaayyy more then men for God can destroy both body and soul. It’s really encouraging to know that I have a God who is always there and who has no limit to the miracles and blessings He can give us.
21″Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.”
Martha shows great faith in this verse. She was grief-stricken over the death of her brother, yet she believed that Jesus would be able to conquer death, which is physically impossible. This verse is a great reminder that Christians must believe in God’s omnipotence, the fact that He is all powerful. Nothing is impossible with God!
This verse really struck me. Verse 4 When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.”I need to remember that God is using our whole lives good and bad to bring glory to His name. We may think a sickness or death could be the end, but in the Lords eye he could use that event in one of the biggest ways we could ever see. As he did with the death of Lazarus what an amazing God we worship and serve.
wow! its very encouraging to see 34 posts today! pastor bobby’s talk last night certainly encouraged me. I also love how Curtis reminded me of the Jesus played football, and Allen spelled wrench wrong hahaha… anyways
26and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
this was such a bold statement by Jesus because he was saying it to Pharisees and Sadducees, who didnt think Jesus was talking about heaven as eternal life and never dying, but they thought about it in a wordly way and thought of it shallowly. Jesus is the way and the truth and the life, and he is the only way into heaven, and the life he gives is the gift of salvation
“Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
Once again, I am so struck by Christ’s sovereignty, even if he doesn’t ALWAYS know what the Father has in mind. Would Lazarus REALLY have continued living had Jesus been there??? Jesus makes it clear that his absence at Lazarus’ death is purposeful…”and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe.” Just like the blind man who was healed (not blind because of his or his parents’ sin”), God allows bad so He can demonstrate GOOD. What an amazingly omniscient God we serve!!!
i love coming on here to read what everyone has to say…its really awesome to get different perspectives on what the passages are.
ANYWAYS
50You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.”
51He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation,
52and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one.
HELLO!prophecy much?i think hunter noticed this too…and when verse 52 says
“to bring them together and make them one”….that just totally makes me want to go out right now, this minute(after i post this) and spread the gospel.lets make the scattered children of God become one.its difficult to think that so many people dont believe in God.we have such a peace and a joy in our hearts from Him.why do we even hesitate to spread the gospel?
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
and brooke i totally agree!i am stoked to be in eternity with Him.i have a hope that i will go home and be with God one day.but not the hope that non christians use (ex. i hope i will get into heaven) but a hope that is a knowing and understanding of what God wants:) this ties into what i said above.i wish everyone could go home to heaven when they die, but unfortunatley, not everyone knows the truth, so lets get out there and know that with God, all things are possible…and lets spread the word!!
MARANATHA BABY!!
i loved verse 4 as did many of you. Pain and discomfortwere allowed to come into the life of Lazarus, his family and friends. The reason was to bring glory to the Son of God. How often do I think that my trials and tribulation are brought upon me with the purpose to glorify God? If I truly believed that then my attitude would be joyful during the worst of my days. I pray that God will change my attitude and help me to understand His good and pleasing perfect will.
WOOHOOO! 38 Comments so far :)
43When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”
It is amazing to be reminded that Jesus is all powerful! He is in control over everything, including life and death! This is such a comfort because we can trust and rely on Him for ANYTHING! He has our lives in his hands and is directing us in the way that we should go. Let us live our lives for His glory!
41So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me.
42I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.”
This is really encouraging to me. Jesus raised a man from the dead and still took the time to give the glory to God. He did one of the most amazing things that anyone could do and didn’t take the credit for it. He thanked God for the answered prayer. It is something that we should be doing every single day but yet we neglect the fact that we has given us everything.
its such an amazing feeling to know that if we believe in God we will live forever with him. Even though we all go through trials and tribulations we need to trust God, and know he has a plan for our lives and that he will take care of us, and that he loves us.
25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
This verse tells us that even thouugh we die in our earthly body, if we are Christians we will die but then be resurrected with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We die in our earthly bodies but are alive for eternity in our spiritual bodies.
25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
this verse defianately stood out to me, and is such an encouragment! i love and totally agree with what emily and brooke said! it is amazing to KNOW where we are going when we die! i love having that advantage. And i am so excited to get to that perfect place!! reading this verse makes me want to go out and tell everyone right now that Jesus Christ is Lord! MARANATHA!
the christian life is so amazing. i love living everyday for Christ it is such an amazing feeling. even though it is pretty rough sometimes, it is really exciting to see God work me through it. and knowing that i am going to spend eternity with him really makes me excited!! He is such an amazing and wonderful God, there ar no words that can describe Him. i am so blessed that i came to know him.
MARANATHA!!!
First…..i am so excited with how many comments there are!!!!
35Jesus wept.
This verse, so short and simple, to me actually means so much. I would want to be in the presence of Jesus crying and would want to be the one he is crying for. I dont know i would just think that would be such an honor!!
22But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.”
This verse just makes me want to be like Martha. She has so much faith and trust in christ even though her brother jusst died! This is the kind of faith and trust we should strive to have.
I really like this whole chapter… It first of all showed me the miraculousness of Jesus. In the chapter it said that the dead body was there for 4 days and that it was there so long that there would be a bad odor from the tomb. But Jesus is so magnificent that he is able to raise even the deadest of dead bodies.
25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
I also liked this verse, it just shows that Jesus is the only way to live eternally, and even though we may die we will live. That is really encouraging
25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
this is so awsome because it says we will die, but those who believe in him will live forever!!!! we should have no fear of dying!!!!
25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
26and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
And done, thats all that needs to be said. Jesus makes it clear who he is right here. i know that he does it other times in the Bible, but it makes me rethink exactly what he is saying here. He just makes it so clear that it shocks me to think that i used to try almost every other way to get on God’s “good side,” and i completely missed the real concept.
What an amazing chapter!!
This whole chapter was really encouraging to me. It is just a great example of Jesus’s power, how amazing to know that our God has control over everything including death. It encourages me so much to know that no matter what is going on in my life i am able to overcome it through Christ who strengthens me.
I also really liked what Christa said about how sometimes we dont always understand everything that goes on in our lives becuase we arent able to see the big picture, but this passage clearly says that these things happen so that the glory of God may be revealed.

Yes i do and if you dont beleve in Christ Jesus you will be dead for eternity in hell. Since i beleve in the gosble i do not fear death because i will always be alive with Jesus.
