He Will Not Forsake His Saints
Of David.
37:1 Fret not yourself because of evildoers;
be not envious of wrongdoers!
2 For they will soon fade like the grass
and wither like the green herb.
3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
and your justice as the noonday.
7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way,
over the man who carries out evil devices!
8 Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath!
Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.
9 For the evildoers shall be cut off,
but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.
10 In just a little while, the wicked will be no more;
though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there.
11 But the meek shall inherit the land
and delight themselves in abundant peace.
12 The wicked plots against the righteous
and gnashes his teeth at him,
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he sees that his day is coming.
14 The wicked draw the sword and bend their bows
to bring down the poor and needy,
to slay those whose way is upright;
15 their sword shall enter their own heart,
and their bows shall be broken.
16 Better is the little that the righteous has
than the abundance of many wicked.
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous.
18 The Lord knows the days of the blameless,
and their heritage will remain forever;
19 they are not put to shame in evil times;
in the days of famine they have abundance.
20 But the wicked will perish;
the enemies of the Lord are like the glory of the pastures;
they vanish—like smoke they vanish away.
21 The wicked borrows but does not pay back,
but the righteous is generous and gives;
22 for those blessed by the Lord shall inherit the land,
but those cursed by him shall be cut off.
23 The steps of a man are established by the Lord,
when he delights in his way;
24 though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong,
for the Lord upholds his hand.
25 I have been young, and now am old,
yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken
or his children begging for bread.
26 He is ever lending generously,
and his children become a blessing.
27 Turn away from evil and do good;
so shall you dwell forever.
28 For the Lord loves justice;
he will not forsake his saints.
They are preserved forever,
but the children of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land
and dwell upon it forever.
30 The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom,
and his tongue speaks justice.
31 The law of his God is in his heart;
his steps do not slip.
32 The wicked watches for the righteous
and seeks to put him to death.
33 The Lord will not abandon him to his power
or let him be condemned when he is brought to trial.
34 Wait for the Lord and keep his way,
and he will exalt you to inherit the land;
you will look on when the wicked are cut off.
35 I have seen a wicked, ruthless man,
spreading himself like a green laurel tree.
36 But he passed away, and behold, he was no more;
though I sought him, he could not be found.
37 Mark the blameless and behold the upright,
for there is a future for the man of peace.
38 But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed;
the future of the wicked shall be cut off.
39 The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;
he is their stronghold in the time of trouble.
40 The Lord helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him. (ESV)

These are persuasive words why the lifestyle of the wicked should not entice, influence, or leave an sinful impression on my life as a Christian.
35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man flourishing like a green tree in its native soil,
36 but he soon passed away and was no more; though I looked for him, he could not be found.
It’s hard for us sometimes to watch the wicked prosper: like David in many other Psalms, we wonder when they will get “what’s coming” to them. Fortunately, our God sees all & knows all, so their punishment is simply a matter of God’s timing. Obviously, we hope & pray for their salvation, but when they continually reject God & His ways, we rejoice in a JUST God who will rule & judge perfectly.
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.
The LORD has already planned out everything, he decided on the fates of the wicked and their punishment. Because of this we should not worry or be afraid when we are persecuted because we already know what their fate is, but we have hope in the LORD.
Ps 37:4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
A simple way to insure the least conflict with God: find out what He wants and want it too! His ways are always better than mine and my conflict with Him goes away when I seek Him and His plan and yield to it with joy! And while this will bring conflict with the world around me, this humble position will be attractive to those God wants me to influence. And what other reason does He keep me here for? To influence others for Him is mhy I’m still here. Lord, do what You say and help me serve You and others today! Give me the desires of my heart!
23 If the LORD delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm;
24 though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
This Psalm is filled with verses that describe how God looks after and cares for the righteous, but will break and beat down the wicked. Though it may look like the wicked are prospering now, the day of their destruction is coming. As a Christian I need to remember this because it will prevent me from envying the worldly lifestyle in my weakness. Instead, even when things are not going as well as I would like them, I can take heart that God will uphold me and make my steps firm as I continue to trust in HIm.
9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace.
Theses three verses show God’s judging and love at the same time! God is sure to judge the wicked, even though in this present world it does not seem like it. While the wicked seem to prosper and live lives of comfort and pleasure, God promises that eventually they will be “cut off.” Contrast that to the love God shows the meek, where He guarantees we will “inherit the land and enjoy great peace.” This psalm shows God’s faithfulness to His children and the wrath that is definitely coming upon the heads of all who oppose Him. Thank You, God, that You have promised through Your Word that the righteous will blessed. Help me to persevere through the trials and oftentimes unfairness of this life where the wicked seem to prosper and I seem to struggle. Help me to wait for You and trust that one day You will settle all the scores against the righteous and give us our amazing inheritance in heaven.
goodmorning(:
7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. 8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.—These verses really stood out to me because I can get suoer angry when I see people not glorifying God and performing totally evil plans that God would definitely not allow! But like Pastor Bobby was talking about last night where if we see people doing wrong we cant just sit there and think, “Oh God will forgive them it’s ok.” That really stood out to me because I know that sometimes I’m not the boldest and I don’t go out and tell people that they should be glorifying God and fleeing from all the bad they have been doing. I also know that I must not became angry and put my wrath out on others and remember God has a day for everyone who has been living a life for themselves and I must learn from them that I need to do the opposite. I am really going to try to watch how I am living myself and also trying to be bold and go out there and share God’s word!
Beach night=awsome….Going on a trip so i might not be able to post because of internet connection but I am definitely going to read!

4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: …
There are plenty of people that we come into contact with who say that they follow Christ, but their lives do not match up to these standards. David is very clear what it takes to be blessed by God: first, you must delight yourself in the Lord, being eager to serve Him, to bring His name glory, and to meditate on His Word. The second essential component that many disregard is obedience, committing your way to the Lord, and trusting that His plan is best. I need to make sure that I am not trusting in my own wisdom or pursuing my own way but rather living according to the Lord’s plan, and that I am always striving to deepen my desire for Him through the Scriptures, prayer, and a lifestyle of worship,
4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
People misunderstand this verse. God doesn’t give you everything you want just because you want it. He gives you the things that you want that are according to His will. When you “delight yourself in the Lord” your desires tend to be close to that of His will, not necesarily everything, but more so than if you dont.
This passage is great, as many of you have noticed it is contrasting the good and evil or the righteous and wicked. The Psalmist, David, talks about the wicked and that there is no security, no future no hope for them for they will “wither like the grass” yet for the righteous, for those who trust in the Lord, and wait on Him will “inherit the land”. What a promise and what a motivation for me to live for the Lord and run this race hard…Philippians 3:7-21 reminds us to press on to obtain the prize, that is my goal!
new blog **JUST FOR GIRLS**
This chapter really encourages us to broaden our perspective about life.
In the short run, it’s easy and tempting to think that it’s better to be wicked and get what you want that to live for the Lord.
This Psalm makes it very clear that that is not true! In the long run, it is better to follow the Lord.
The wicked “will die away,” “wither,” “be cut off,” “will vanish like smoke,” “will be destroyed,” and “their day is coming.
On the other hand, the righteous will “dwell in the land and enjoy safe passage,” get the “desires of their heart,” “shine like the dawn,” enjoy plenty in the day of famine, and never be forsaken by the Lord.
All these thoughts encourage me to stay away from temptation and to pursue the Lord more and more because when all is said and done, it will be worth it!
28 For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. They will be protected forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off;
This passage is a very good whitness to what Bobby was saying at Beach Night last night. God is both fully loving AND fully judging. The LORD loves those who dwell in Him but He hates the wicked who only delight in their sinful ways. God will strike down those who oppose Him and they will be condemed forever. Those who seek God and are His children, He will rescue them from the oncoming wrath that He is to send on the rest of the world.
Okay so there are WAY too many verses i wanted to comment on in this chapter, so im gonna kinda incorporate all of them into what im trying to say starting with…
Psalm 37:7 “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.” This can be a huge problem for me. When I see people who dont fear the Lord do evil, and get away with it, it really upsets me. This verse clearly tells me that I need to “be still before the Lord and wait patientloy for him” I need to know that God will deal with the wicked, and I need to keep my eyes focused on Christ, instead of stumbling in anger when people get away with their “wicked schemes”. This leads me to….
Psalm 37:9 “For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.”
Psalm 37:13 “but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.” This is SO encouraging! This gives me faith and insurance, that I dont have to fret when “evil men” get away with their “wicked schemes”! They will be dealt with! They all think they’re getting away with whatever it is they’re doing, but God knows EXACTLY when and where they will be judged and punished.God is LAUGHING at them! haha. I kind of laughed when i read that. Here on earth, all these people sinning, think they are gonna get away with it, but God is up in heaven laughing at them, because he knows their day of judgement will come! and that leads me to my last part of this incredibly long post…
Psalm 37:39 “The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of trouble.”
Psalm 37:40 “The LORD helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.” I need to take comfort in these verses, that God will help me and deliver me, if I am “righteous” in his eyes, through Jesus Christ :) He will be my stronghold in time of trouble, so i dont need to worry, or fear!!!! Praise Jesus, for making me righteous in God’s eyes :D
Beach night was awesome last night :D FRESHMAN GIRLS FOREVER!!!! hahaha oh and… GET THAT CORN OUTA MY FACE!!! <3333
This chapter should be really encouraging to Christians, throughout the whole chapter it reminds us that the wicked will vanish, wither, or die away, but that the righteous will flourish, inherit the land, and enjoy plenty during a famine. But for those who don’t know God at all, then this should be a frightening chapter that I pray would lead them to godly sorrow.
“The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip.”
This verse is really convicting for me in my Bible reading lately. Most of the time this week I’ve been reading just to get my reading done, and sometimes I even get lazy and don’t read as much as I intended to. I need to pray about this and get better about it, because I need the law of God to be in my heart to protect me from the snares of the wicked. I am going to strive to have the same mindset of Proverbs 2:1-5, that I would turn my ears to wisdom, cry out for understanding, and look for it as one looks for silver or gold.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
This verse encourages me to really give my heart to the Lord. Could I really say that I delight in him? That he is the one I turn to for joy? Or do I turn to entertainment or fun or just relaxing?
I want to make sure that my heart is finding its satisfaction in God because only then will I truly be satisfied!
This verse always reminds me of Matthew 6:33 that if we seek first His kingdom and righteousness, everything else I need will be given to me.
Like others have said, if I am delighting in God my desire will be in line with his will and he will give me the things I ask for! What a great promise!
I am reminded of the verse that God said to David when he had chosen to delight in something else besides God. God had given to David everything he could have wanted and then he says, “And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more.”
This is a great encouragement to me today to know that if I make God my desire, I will be satisfied!
Great time at Beach Night with all of you! Can’t wait for the True North Takeover this weekend at church! Be there early and sit in the front!
1 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.
WOW! When I read this I thought of friends who are not believers or who know the truth and choose to ignore it. This reminds me that even when times are hard with friend situations I need to trust in the Lord and hold firm because I do not want give into evil or die and wither away. I need to be stong when things are going well and even stronger when times are hard.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.
I love this verse because when things happen and people hurt you or things just go wrong it is so easy for me to get angry and be selfish, but like this verse says anger only leads to evil, which I have experienced and it is not a good place to be in!
31 The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip.
When I read this verse it reminded me that I can go through all the motions and look good but if what I am doing is for the wrong reasons and my heart is not in it I am putting on an act. I need to pray every day that my heart is right with God!

Tips to remember to help you with God’s word:
#1. reading from your bible may help you consentrate more, rather than on the screen.
#2. Type the actual verse onto your comment rather than “copy” & “pasting” it. That way you can think twice about what your actually commenting about. =)
Good’a morning’a . . . (lol)
I read . . .
Psalm 37 . . .
“1. Do not fret because of evil men, or be envious of those who do wrong;”
“2. for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.”
First verse is saying, I am to not worry of the evil men in our world. Or want something that they have that is wrong. I shouldn’t do that, because they wither like the grass and are not strong in their roots. Especially if they are non-believers they don’t know which way they are going in their life. Verse 2. also says, like a green plant they will soon die and turn a different dying color, brown.
As a Christian, I am to NOT be like that. I should not worry about the evil men or go after what they do. (jealous) What do they have that is more important than my God/Savior/Creator? NOTHING. Also, I need to have strong roots in my faith, that way I won’t wither from the world or it’s temptations. I should be a “healthy plant”, eating the fertilizer of God and His word.

5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this
This verse really nails it! We really need to fully commit our lives to the Lord, and not just be lukewarm in the way that we walk with the Lord. I need to always trust that the Lord will do what is best with my life, and I should never doubt him. If I find myself doubting him, it would be a good idea to pray or read my bible.
7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.
This is saying that we should be still before God and wait for Him patiently but the men succeed in doing bad things will only hurt them self’s later in life when they stand before God on the judegment day. We should stay away from anger because that only leads to evil. I think this is sad for the non-Christians in the world that are going to hell and we should be the people to lead the to God.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.
This is something i have been personally working on. Sometimes its easy to lash out on siblings and overreact when they do something you dont like. It is verses like these that encourage me to treat others with the loving respect that God wants.
16 Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked;
17 for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
18 The days of the blameless are known to the LORD, and their inheritance will endure forever.
David is saying that it is better to have a little amount of income and be righteous, than to be wealthy and still have their sins not forgiven. Verse reminds me of when Jesus said in Matthew 16:26 “What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?” Then David in verse 17 says that their power of the wicked will be broken, they will lose their power…their money will all be gone when they die. The wicked will not have an inheirtance from the Lord, but punishment for their sin. The righteous will have an inheirtance in heaven from the Lord though.
This chapter is really repetative but in a good way! Its really encouraging to me because if i am living a righteous life and putting my hope in the Lord, he will constantly be blessing me. And i shouldnt want the life of sinners because although it may seem good now, in eternity they will be no more and be suffering. I will be with Christ and inherit a land in heaven (=
28 For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. They will be protected forever.
What a great chapter to start off the day! I love this psalm. This is such a great promise given in verse 28. If we are faithful and obey God he will never forsake us. No matter what we go through, he’s going to protect us. On my trip I had the chance to really feel God’s hands of protection over me the entire time! I put my trust in him completely and he provided a safe trip! Stay close to the Lord guys, living a life with him brings only joy and happiness, through good times and bad. Have a lovely day, everyone!
16 Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked;
17 for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
When the two are compared, it is so much better to have the little of the righteous then the wealth of the wicked. It can’t even be accurately shown on a scale and how mush more it is worth it to chose the little that the righteous have. For though they have little in terms of physical possessions and other things in the mind of the world, having salvation through Jesus Christ will bring eternal life in heaven with the LORD and a life filled with eternal blessings. And though the wicked seem to have it all now, or at least in the world’s terms, if they have not been saved from their sins, they will spend eternity in hell separated from God and everything that is good. They seem to have power, but it will be broken by the LORD. In His justice, He will break their strength and punish them for their sins with eternal damnation in hell. Yet to those who, though they may have little now, have true salvation that comes through Jesus Christ, the LORD will uphold them. To those that were saved by His amazing act of love of sending His Son down, by His justice He will lift them up. I need to keep an eternal focus always. I may not be the best right now and have it all in terms of the way the world sees things, but I need to delight in my salvation and in eternity to come, where I will dwell in the presence of the King and be blessed with eternal treasures. I need to not get down for what I don’t have right now and seek after the things of this world, for they are all vain and hollow; they will not last! I need to live my life with Kingdom Eyes, still mindful of what is going on around me and actively representing Christ while I am here, but still remembering that Heaven is my home and I have that to look forward to!!!! MARANATHA!!!!!
But the wicked will perish: The LORD’s enemies will be like the beauty of the fields, they will vanish—vanish like smoke.
The sinners and the temporary beauty of this world will not last, so we do not need to become obsessed with the physical things of this world yet need to be obsessed with Christ instead. It is silly to look up to celebrities of people of this world who will perish; we should concentrate on Christ because he lasts for eternity.
7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.
These verses reminded me of how I must not become secretly frustrated with people who are sometimes ignorant, yet I must be patient and inform them with a kind, graceful tone. Tone affects almost everything :) I must realize that if I work myself up, I am only causing an unnecessary reaction and I must trust that those who do evil and do not get caught will one day face judgement. Basically, I must be very patient. I have learned in life that with patience, prayers are always answered.
30 The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just.
31 The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip.
This whole chapter was just like what Pastor Bobby talked about last night, about how God is 100% judge and 100% love. It talks all about how God is going to bless the righteous and punish the wicked. These verses particularly stood out to me because I have a really hard time addressing people about what is going on in their lives, especially my really good friends. Sometimes I don’t even see anything wrong because I am blocking it out and trying too much to focus on the good in them. But God is commanding me to lovingly give people the truth about themselves. A true friend will actually correct someone because they love them and want the best for them. I need to be that friend.
19 In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.
20 But the wicked will perish: The LORD’s enemies will be like the beauty of the fields, they will vanish—vanish like smoke.
I was constantly reminded in this chapter to put my complete trust in God, because anything else does not last. Everything that the world puts their trust in things like money, popularity, themselves, relationships, and education are all going to pass away and have no spiritual benefit. Those things don’t satisfy and they can not forgive my sin. Only God forgives sin and fulfills the desires of my heart, it is only through obedience to Him that we find everlasting life, true satisfaction, and peace! This encourages me to live conpletely for Him today!
31 The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip.
WOO we’re talkin’ about the righteous! I know that I strive to be righteous and here is one practical way to become more like Him! We know from this Psalm that the Lord loves and blesses the righteous! This verse encouraged me to memorize at least one verse before this week is over! :D
To me, sometimes it seems that the wicked always get their way, that nothing bad ever happens to them and when I am made fun of for not “living my life” I think about this and think “why are they not receiving punishment for their evil here on Earth? why don’t they see what life is really all about?” this Psalm totally reminded me that they will face judgement before God and a life with God is totally worth all the persecution I get. God says their sword will strike themself…that’s intense. The righteous are safe and live under God’s protection. God keeps me from slipping, but for the wicked it’s nooooo good. They are going to have to face an eternal life in Hell which is why I need to keep praying for them, that they are God’s chosen ones and that it’s His will that they will be saved and have an eternal life with Him, not with satan. :)
ELLO… I read
I like verse 38,”But all sinners will be destroyed; the future of the wicked will be cut off.”
I like this verse because it tells what will happen and motivates me to teach others about the Gospel. It says sinners will be destroyed even though they may have all the money and houses all that will be taken from them and they will have a future in HELL I’m not saying all people who are rich are bad just that if you are not saved then your future will be taken from you and you will be forever separated from everything good and most importantly GOD. The reason I also like this verse is because it motivates me to teach to others about GOD. If I know this is going to happen to them I want them to know about it and I don’t want them to go to HELL so that is what else I got out of this verse.
CYA
37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright; there is a future for the man of peace.
This verse reminded me of Matthew 5:9.
This verse stuck out to me. I have two brothers, and we don’t always get along. I sometimes get into arguements with them and sometimes we end up fighting. I know that we won’t always get along perfectly, but i have to be a peacemaker. I need focus on trying to fight as little as possible. I should think about the blameless, and look at the examples of the upright. And this doesn’t just apply to me and my brothers, it also applies to all of my relationships! Friends, family, and everyone else. Proverbs15:1 says, “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” Definately a great way to live out Psalms 37:37!
12 The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them;
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.
Great chapter about how much it pays off to be right with God. It’s really easy to get caught up in being like the rest of the world in worrying about things or living for ourselves. But it’s better to look to the future instead of living for the moment – because in the end, a man will reap what he sows.
28 For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. They will be protected forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off;
This chapter is so encouraging to the people on Gods side. I have learned that God will protected us forever. He will always be there for us. As for the wicked they will be cut off and will not be protected but punished. This makes me glad that I am on God’s side and makes me want to tell others about what will happen on judgement.
20 But the wicked will perish: The LORD’s enemies will be like the beauty of the fields, they will vanish—vanish like smoke.
The Lord is just. Although it may seem like disobeying Him pays off now, it really doesn’t. I like this verse becuase is reminds me that in the end their will be justice. Those who obey the Lord and fear Him will be rewarded but those who disobey and reject Him, well, they are in trouble, big time. I like how this verse says that they will vanish. There is no reward that comes from disobeying the Lord. Even when I think that I am getting away with something, I am not, and there will be consequences for my actions. I feel that that goes hand in hand with fearing the Lord. I need to fear his wrath and his consequences. Becuase if I dont, what is keeping me from sinning?
I liked verse 28, it says…
“For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones.”
This passage reminded me of what Pastor Bobby said last night at beach night. He talked about how some people are so nice that they tend to be too nice and not defend what they believe or hold people accountable for their actions. Sometimes I find myself doing this when people use God’s name in vain…I tend to pretend like i did’nt hear it and not dwell on it. By doing that, I am not representing Christ in the way I should be. It is my goal to stand up for what I know is right and be more bold for Christ in this way.
3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
Trusting in the Lord s something I have struggled with but after recent experiences (ie. Mission’s Trip) I’ve been reminded that God is watching over me as one of His children. I’ve found Delight through serving Him and being surrounded by His people. Commiting to Christ is the only way to truly find joy and to find Salvation and that’s something I have thoroughly enjoyed being reminded of.
28 For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. They will be protected forever, but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off;
Summary (just because):
Basically, those who are righteous and fear the Lord will be comforted, enjoy the Lord’s inheritance, flourish, and always be provided for. In contrast, the wicked, even if at this present time they seem to succeed, and will vanish and then reap the consequences of their wicked ways after. God loves the faithful, just, blameless, and, peaceful and hates the unjust, greedy, and bloodthirsty. Trust and commit your ways to the Lord and it will be good. And according to verse 37: for the blameless and the upright “there is a future”, and we can hope in in being blessed with an inheritance greater than we are able to comprehend: the glory of the Lord! Looking forward to it!
3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
I totally agree with Austin because trusting in the Lord was something that was difficult for me at times too. That is why this verse stuck out to me! Trusting in God is so important, we need to rely on Him. God has a perfect plan for me, and everyone. I know that my focus should be on the Lord at all times, and to seek his will for my life, and to glorify and serve him in EVERYTHING I do! This summer has been awesome so far, and I have grown a lot! By reading this, and thinking on this verse, I am going to apply trusting in God, no matter what the situation is.
1 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.
3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
I think that these four verses really summarize the whole Psalm. A lot of the time I find myself wondering why some people get to cheat and get away with it, be jerks to other people etc, and go unpunished. However these verses really go to show that God’s plan is always good. The wicked will never go unpunished, God’s wrath will tear them down one day. So even though it seems like they have it better off right now, I can know that I will for eternity as long as I follow the Lord! And on the flipside, if I follow God and trust him now even though its difficult at times, I will be rewarded. Verse three says Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. This is so comforting to think of when times are hard and it feels like you’re alone, yet you can know God is with you and you can “enjoy safe pasture”. Overall this whole Psalm just makes me feel so much safer because I know that God is with me and that he will punish the wicked one day.
Im so sad that I was sick last night :( It seems like the freshman girls had a great time.
I really liked this chapter but I especially liked verse 40:
“The LORD helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.”
I usually post on these same types of verses because this is something I am always struggling with. TRUST, it is one of the most important things that we need to have in order to really have a great relationship with God. I pray every day for God to give me trust in him and he continues to answer my prayers! I always need to make sure that I take every single problem to Him. He will always be there and he is the one I need to take refuge in. I need to make sure I pray to him instead of gossiping about things that happen. He will always help me as long as I trust and take refuge in Him! :D
See you all on Sunday!!!
its basicly saying that we should separate ourselves from the wicked in the world and put our faith in jesus. their time is coming, but through jesus we are safe.
9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.
3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Like yesterday, a major point David is trying to get across is that God will punish evil men and reward the righteous. I definitely need to keep this in my head through out the day and to remember that the LORD will reward for following His commands. I also just want to pray that even the missions trip ended, the service will always be in my heart even when it is tempting to just be lazy all day.
Thankyou Bobby for another excellent and convicting sermon last night!
So i made a chart in my mind: The wicked & The followers of Christ. It seems like if your on the wicked side, you pretty stupid!!! To compare these two types of people, its just so different! But then i start to compare my life to that of whome God expects a follower and a believer of Him to live. Yeah, i can say that i dont do drugs or party or have sex. But i can say that i sometimes have an attitude, i lie, i hate, i lust, i listen to music that doest glorify God. No i havent killed a person, but i have thought mean things about people at times, and thats equal! Reading this chapter makes me realize that i need to live my life more like how Christ did- blamelessly. In verse three, it says “Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.” I need to work on this a lot more because i worry in certain situations too too much! When i worry, i dont really notice others around me and im probably a grouch because i think the worst will ocurr. Instead, i need to be focusing on how i can serve others and please God!
Maranatha
this chapter is talking about how the wicked need to get what they want here on earth, and David tells us that, the rewards and the things they have here is all they are going to get, and that it is not as good as storing your treasures in heaven. also i really like verse 13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming. this verse pretty much sums it up
c u all at true notrh take over
16 Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked;
17 for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
God’s people should not be jealous of the unrighteous because they have a punishment coming worse than anything we could experience here on earth. Not only that, but everything I get as a follower of Christ far surpasses any wealth a non-Christian has. Their power will be broken, and we will be raised up with Christ: King of all! How awesome that God takes care of those who take refuge in Him!!
PS: Great Job to the Freshman Girls who posted today!
40 The LORD helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.
Praise be to GOD!!! All Glory to him for this blessing he bestows upon us. He is my refuge and whether in times of trouble or in times of joy, I seek his refuge. This is such an encouragement to know he is there to help me and continually protect me. he delivers me from Evil because I abide in him. I love God, He is so amazing.
7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
I loved this Psalm! Every bit of it I felt was very informing, convicting, and gave me such an encouragement as well! But I especially liked these verses because they are the epitome of this Psalm. Even though we can have obsticles in life or we don’t understand why the wicked are getting treated better, by looking at htis verse I know that God will take care of things, and He does things for His reasons, and they will be cut off! That’s intense, but a great motivation for me to continue to live for God, and have hope!
Sin looks sooooo appealing, but remember that it is VERY decietful and is a BIG FAT LIAR! :] Everyday I am tempted with sin, even the little ones, and remember(sometimes :/) that I shouldn’t fall into it. I need to rely on God for everything and He will pull me out from all of those sinful temptation.
5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
I need to give all I have to Him and I(and everybody else) who gives themselves to Christ and repents from their sin will gain all the riches in heaven!(that sounds A LOT better than a blazing pit of fire if you ask me) :]
***I WILL STRIVE TO COMMIT MY LIFE 100% TO CHRIST AND NOT LET THE LITTLE SINS GET IN THE WAY, FOR GOD IS THE ONLY ONE WHO MATTERS!!!***
What a convicting psalm on God’s love and not wanting His Judgment. Like stated in earlier posts, it shows His ability to give 100% love and 100% judgment. I know that I definitely would prefer His love and to live a righteous life.
It was also a good reminder to not get upset when those around us sin and “get away with it” (as clearly it states they will be judged by God), because by us getting upset, we may then give in to sin. V.9 “Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret–it leads only to evil.” I know how easy it is to get upset when “things” don’t seem fair. I need to remember to turn to prayer for guidance instead of doing something sinful.
“Trust in the Lord and do good”
Great job to all the Freshman Girls who posted!
18 The days of the blameless are known to the LORD, and their inheritance will endure forever.
19 In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.
I really like these two verses because Gods promise of eternal life to those who repent and put their faith in him is secure and no one can take it away. Our hope is set on something beyond this world. But everyone who hopes in what they can get out of this life is not lasting. I want to completely focus on God and my life to revolve around him.
3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
I think of this verse as a promise in some ways because it says if you trust in the Lord and do good then you will be happy and enjoy safety.
*Luke discovers that it’s hard to type with a broken arm*
This psalm contrasts what it is like for the wicked and the righteous in the end.
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming
20 But the wicked will perish
29 the righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.
37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright; there is a future for the man of peace.
First, God will judge the wicked. Even though it often seems like they get away with their sin, in the end, justice will be served. Second, God will bless the righteous. I’m glad that Jesus has saved me. It’s definitely a relief not to be on the receiving end of God’s wrath.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
This verse really encourages me to delight in the Lord. Every day I find delight in just facebook, video games, and food. I definitely need to find my delight in the Lord more than other useless stuff.
Wow I feel like I could comment on any verse in this chapter!
24 though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
This verse reminded me of a book I was reading today- The Pursuit of Holiness, by Jerry Bridges. It was talking about how, in our pursuit of a holy life, we have to make commitments not to fall into sin. That’s not to say we won’t slip up and stumble, but as God gives us the strength to perservere, we can have victory over the sin. Its all about obedience to God, and that’s really really encouraging to me :)
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.
The Lord already knows the wicked that will be going to hell and the Christians that He will be taking up with Him. I think it is absolutely amazing how God already know things in advance by thousand of years.
27 Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever.
Perfect and simple verse! I need to turn away from evil, sin, and temptation, then i will dwell in the land of the lord forever!
23 If the LORD delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm;
24 though he stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
These verses encourage me to know that even when I am struggling I will not be taken down altogether. The Lord upholds and strengthens me, I need to be about obeying him! I definitely want to be running after him and being upheld all the way by the Lord!
1 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.
3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
I really like this chapter because it talks about how the people who give up their desires for God will be rewarded greatly in the end, and the wicked will be wiped out. These verses are saying that we shouldnt say “Man those people get to do what they want and I can’t”, because it is just temporary pleasure and it wont last in the Kingdom of God. But, if you trust in the Lord and follow him, he will give you shelter, comfort, and everything u need for eternity. I like the way the last verse says that if you want the Lord, then the Lord will give you….the Lord. So it comes full circle and you not only get what you want, but you get what you need to have eternal life.
7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
I know that I have a hard time trying to be patient. Asking the Lord for help and seeking answers. Sometimes I dont always get an aswer right away, but there are people out there that need more help then I do. I really dislike when people get their way when they had done wrong. On the field and court I see a lot of schemes. I know it is a game, but some of their actions are a little uncalled for. Not only I have a hard time being patient with the Lord but also with my little brother. I now he is only 5 but hey sometimes he just drives me crazy. I am doing better and I am starting to pray for the Lord for help on the field the weekend. I hope all of you have a great rest of your summer.
4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this
I need to meditate in the word day in and day out and that is what it takes to delight myself in the lord. i neeed to trust him and commit my way meaning that i need to put him first in my life and make him my number one priority
5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
This verse shows me how important it is to follow God’s commands. Not only is it pleasing to him, but it also is a form of evangelism. I will keep following his commands so that I can make my righteousness obvious in order to show others the love of Christ.
Do Not Fret. I think that is the most powerful phrase in this chapter because it also assures us that everything is under control. We have no need to worry because our trust is in God. He has a plan for everything and in his sovereignty he will work everything out. This chapter assures us that there will be blessings for the righteous and punishment for the wicked. Because God is both loving and judging right?
(((FRESHMAN GIRLS 4EVER)))!!!!!!!!!!(Dabom)!!!
3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
~~That we all need to do what the Lord commands of us and when we do he will be with us and we may be safe through him.
—————
24 though he stumble, he will not fall,
for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
~~That as a Christian I stumble upon sin, and temptation but through my repentance and faith through Christ that I don’t’ fall and can’t get up, instead the lord has his hand on me so that if I do fall I can always get back up and continue my walk with Christ.
——–
27 Turn from evil and do good;
then you will dwell in the land forever.
~~That we need to say no to all evil and say yes to all the things that are good, when we do that we will be with God in his presents forever.
i passed my drivers test !!! :) ((FRESHMAN GIRLS 4EVER))
Wow! What powerful words are spoken in this chapter! This chapter is really encouraging in telling Christians to keep on the narrow path! God destroys the wicked, but the righteous He welcomes into HIs Kingdom!
3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
God is telling us that when we dwell in the LORD’s land, we will be protected! When we stay on the narrow path, God takes us and protects us under His wing! That should really motivate us to stay on God’s team!
4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: 6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.
Like Pastor Bobby said, How are we supposed to have a relationship with God if we don’t communicate!? These verses say delight as in don’t just say you have a relationship, but really get into it and talk with the LORD! Commit as in LIVE CHRIST!! We shouldn’t just be living for Him sometimes, or only when we remember to, we should be living Him! Living as if He is standing next to us EVERY minute of every day, because He is!!! That really inspires me to Live EVERY moment of my life For His Glory!!
<333 FRESHMAN GIRLS FOREVER <333
There was no one verse that stood out to me…there were many. I’ve been sitting here for over an hour trying to come up with something to write. As a whole though, this Psalm was greatly encouraging. I was reminded again of the unending benefits of putting my trust in Him, and also of His promise that the unrighteous will not get away with their actions. As I’m still at a loss for words, I think I need to go study this Psalm in much greater depth.
30 The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just.
31 The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip.
I like how verse 31 says “the law of his God is in his heart” and then it says “his feet do not slip”. Like Bobby said at beach night yesterday if I am to have a relationship with God I must be in communication with him and thats through reading his word and prayer. I have to be in the word daily! It is so important. It says in verse 30 the mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom… and goes on to say in verse 31 the righteous have God’s law in their heart. I want to be in God’s word daily and memorizing it, so it is on my heart and mind constantly throughout the day.
Psalm 37
This Psalm is a great comparison between those who walk upright in the Lord and those who are wicked and walk in the world.
Psalm 37:17 for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
I love how David here gives testimony to what a Godly man does and receives vs. what an evil man does and receives for his wickedness. When we commit our way to the Lord he is faithful and just to reward those who are faithful as you can see throughout this chapter. This chapter is a great example of a Loving and Just God as we talked about this past Wed. night. We need to meditate on these promises every day and thank God for his goodness to us thru his saving Grace. After reading this chapter you would have to be crazy not to walk in the footsteps of the Lord.
Here is a list of rewards that God has promised to the upright:
They prosper
They receive the desires of their hearts
They will be seen as innocent and just
They are upheld by the Lord
They are cared for
They will receive an eternal reward
They are directed by the Lord
They will never be forsaken
Their children are a blessing
They are protected
They will be honored
They have a wonderful future
Wow!
4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.
It’s sad how God is so much better than everything else, yet I spend so much of my time on other things that don’t even compare to how satisfying He is. I don’t know what it is, because after going a while without thinking about God I feel wrong and unfulfilled yet I keep allowing myself to be distracted. I guess I get excited about certain things and say to myself oh I can get back to God later. Or sometimes I excuse it saying Im too tired or too distracted to read my Bible right now, Ill do it later once im in a more focussed state or something. It’s also especially sad when I feel unexcited about reading the Bible and it starts to feel like something I just have to do.
I really want to be delighting in the Lord, where I am not praying and reading my Bible as a chore but because it is what I care most about. And honestly, I know that God is really what I care most about, but when I get my mind distracted and start doing other things I start not to desire God like I should. Communication is necessary for any relationship, and when I don’t communicate with God like I should its easy to be distracted. I need to make sure I am reading His Word and praying all day long so His Word is on my heart and mind and I am truly looking to glorify Him. I want to know Christ in a true and personal way, and I pray that God will focus my heart on Him as I make sure to spend my time seeking Him rather than wasting it on foolishness. And how amazing is God’s promise to completely satisfy us when we are delighting in Him and to give us everything we ask for because we are asking according to His will.
it may seem like sinners get everything in life and are always happy, but they are not. They fade away, like it says in this chapter.
It is encoraging to know that we will be blessed when we do what God says. The people who disobey will not be rewarded. This psalm was legit!
