Psalm 119:89-96
Lamedh
89 Forever, O Lord, your word
is firmly fixed in the heavens.
90 Your faithfulness endures to all generations;
you have established the earth, and it stands fast.
91 By your appointment they stand this day,
for all things are your servants.
92 If your law had not been my delight,
I would have perished in my affliction.
93 I will never forget your precepts,
for by them you have given me life.
94 I am yours; save me,
for I have sought your precepts.
95 The wicked lie in wait to destroy me,
but I consider your testimonies.
96 I have seen a limit to all perfection,
but your commandment is exceedingly broad. (ESV)

90 Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures.
This verse is great. It is a great example of praising God. What the Psalmist says here is so true! If you look at any follower of God in the past, or even look in the Bible, you know how faithful God is. Not even that, but He created the Earth, and it still is doin fine with Him! If He did not exist, then the whole world would not even exist, and life would not survive. So this is a great reminder on how important, and awesome God is!
91 Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you.
God we surve you others may not yet but they are all going to bow down to you.
I hope the day comes but most of the people are Christians.
89 Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.
Another verse that also reminds me of this verse is Matthew 5:18 “I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.”
It’s amazing that the Bible is going to be everlasting/eternal! I really like in this chapter of Psalm 119 it talks about the Word of God how much we should treasure it and how we ourselves should be like the Psalmist and seek God and find delight in His Law! Gives my mind a higher vaule of the Word. I think we should not just be reading SOTD but more chapters in the Bible. Like doing the daily Bible reading!
I hope that day will come too Riley!
93 I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life.
The Bible saves our lives, both spiritualy and physicaly! This is such an encouragement for me to read the Bible more and obey what it says so that I will stay out of sin. We can’t expect to truely live without obeying God’s Word so lets worship and obey Him in spirit and truth today! (John 4:23-24)
91 Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you.
God uses every person, thing, and situation for His glory. If we serve Him willingly, we will receive reward; those who think they can avoid Him end up serving Him as well, but they will end up in Hell regretting not realizing their blindness until it was too late. We need to make sure that we take an active role in bringing glory to God through every situation!
91 Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you.
His law lasts forever and so does his love! I love this psalm because its all so encouraging and i cant wait for the day when every knee is bowing and every tounge confessing that Jesus is Lord. When truly EVERYONE will serve him.
I agree with my Pain Train brother, Kyle Johnson. The stuff we are reading in this chapter should give our minds a higher value of the Word!
God’s Word is eternal! That concept should blow our minds and drive us to Scripture. In the midst of an unchanging and unsure world, we have the eternal Word. And since we know that the Bible is eternal, we know it is relevant and practical for us today. This truth should also make the word a great priority in our lives. While we can get caught up in a lot of stuff that is temporary, we need to make sure we are giving time to the eternal Word.
I agree with all of you about how we should view the Word as we read this…looking at it with such a high view! God’s word is eternal, true, never-chaning, all powerful; this is amazing to think about because we live in a world where we can find nothing else that will stand the test of time FOREVER! We need to make sure that therefore we are in the Word daily and seeking the Spirit’s conforming us into Christlikeness. It is so important, in fact I would venture to say that there is nothing else that should take that priority in your life!
92 If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.
When things are going well for a person, it’s easy for them to praise God. It’s hard to praise Him when things aren’t going so well. They may even feel bitter towards Him . . . but this NOT how we should react. If we do not delight in His law all the same, we will perish! It would be even worse. We do need to make sure to bring glory to God through every situation, as easy or hard as it seems.
These eight verses are sooooo encouraging! Our Lord God is eternal, and omniscient, and will never change. His Word stands forever, and his faithfulness continues through all generations! Our Savior will never fail us.
96 To all perfection I see a limit; but your commands are boundless.
The world will always come up short. Nothing of this world will satisfy us. There are flaws. But our Lord is perfect, and has no bounds. He will never come up short, and we get to be in his presence for all of eternity. That is so awesome to think about. Being with someone perfect for the rest of time! That sounds pretty great to me.

89 Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.
God’s word is eternal! It withstands the test of time and as KJ said “not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished”(Matthew 5:18). It is awesome that we can fully rely in God’s everlasting word. And we won’t be put to shame because everything will come to pass that has been declared in the book of our Lord.
89 Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.
90 Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures.
If GOD is eternal and he created all things both finite and eternal, then what he says is also eternal. When he had the prophets write down the law, he knew about everything we will, do, and used to struggle with. His word applies today, tomorrow and in the future.
94 Save me, for I am yours; I have sought out your precepts.
“I am yours.” This stuck out to me the most today! What a beautiful thing it is to know that we are God’s precious children. No one can ever take our salvation away from us. No matter what we go through we know that God is by our side at all times, helping us through it. I thank God for my salvation every day!
89 Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.
The Girl’s Workshop blog on this verse is amazing! Check it out.
I really like this verse because God’s word doesn’t change and it’s perfect as God is perfect. And it’s going to last forever.
89 Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.
Nice comment Kyle, I totally agree! Why should we waste our time and effort on things that have no eternal value? It is sad to think that many people let days or weeks go by without even picking up the bible. We should be investing our time in God’s word, it is the only real treasure we have. I pray that we would be in the word daily, seeking God, praying for His will and longing to know Him more intimately.
92 If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.
Wow, this verse is so meaningful to me today. My dear grandpa died last night. He was the sweetest, friendliest man you could ever meet. I am aching with affliction over his passing. However, God’s Word promises me that I am not walking through this season of mourning alone. I have hope that I will see my grandpa again in heaven and hope that God will comfort me and give me peace while I am on earth. The key is for me to delight in God’s law, which is perfect and unchanging so I do not drown in despair as I deal with this sad change in my life.
94 Save me, for I am yours; I have sought out your precepts.
I love this verse. I really don’t have much to say about it, but its amazing. “Save me, for I am yours.” What an beautiful prayer!
oops forgot to change the name- that was me not my dad haha ^
89 Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.
This is a great passage. We really need to be focused on what is really important.
89 Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.
You word is ever;asting nothing can come close to it or destroy it God. We shall never forget this.
89 Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.
90 Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures.
This verse is so encouraging me that God is the only think that will satisfy me and nothing of the word will. It is so cool that my savior stands firm.
92If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my afflictions.
This verse makes it clear how much we should love the bible and what it says. Reading gods word and meditating on it throughout the day saves us from “perishing in our afflictions.” gods word needs to be the top priority in our lives.
89 Your word, O LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.
This is really true because God’s word is eternal! It will always be in us and it will always (as Spencer said) stand the test of time!
96 To all perfection I see a limit; but your commands are boundless.
This verse it quite interesting. I never looked at seeing perfection as a limit. This psalmist is soo cool! I never compared being perfect as a limit and then God’s commands to be boundless.
Psalm 119:89-96
93 I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life.
This verse is awesome! It should be permanently written on our hearts and minds. This is the foundation of a follower of Christ and why we trust and obey. We were once lost but now we are found in Him. God has preserved our life so that we may serve our Lord and bring him Glory. Let us never forget God’s promise to those who are faithful to His Law and the cost of our salvation thru which our lives have been preserved. I will never forget!
2 Tim 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
96To all perfection I see a limit; but your commands are boundless.
What awesome verses about the value of Scripture! Unfortunately we as Christians too often take God’s Word for granted. In these verses, we are reminded that the Bible is eternal and boundless, meaning that it is applicable for our lives today! We need to make His commands our priority, rather than the things of this world. The things of this world have a limit, but the value of God’s Word is eternal!
92 If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.
When we focus on the Lord and seek to honor Him then it is a delight obey His law! But when we seek satifaction in the form of material things worldly things, we will end up empty and “perishing in our afflictions”. God is so good and He ALWAYS knows what is best for us!
Great comment Jordan!!

well I’m a tad bit late but that’s otay! I just love these set of verses especially the last verse, verse 96.
96 To all perfection I see a limit; but your commands are boundless.
We see a limit to perfection. It just ends at just one point for us and we can’t really grasp it. But to God, there is noooooooooooo limit. His commands are boundless and always apply to EVERY situation. Though we forget, or think we forget, at times the law still applies. No matter where we go, or when, His law stands forever so we can’t exactly use the excuse of “I forgot” when our teacher tells us to stop talking during a lecture. His law applies 24/7 and thank God for that! :D
