Because It really is just a show of the faith that David had in God to do the right thing. There are going to be many Goliaths in are lives and we need to strike them down. Maybe there was a Goliath in your life today I know there was one in my life. Was mocking a kids name which was Jesus in spanish and she kept calling him Jesus very loudly and I did not stand up. Today Goliath won and I was like on of Davids brothers. Useally I enjoy standing up for what I believe in wheather it be politics or religion, but today I lacked the strength and feared men more than I feared God. and I think that David understood that. He fear what God might do if he did not strike down Goliath, more than Goliath him self. I love the story of David and Goliath. Saul (with the rest of Israel) is afraid and hanging in his tent when he should be out fighting. On the other hand, David is courageous even though he is young and small compared to Goliath.
